Appearance And Court Case Analysis
In the legal field, key to presenting competence to your client, opposing attorneys, and the court,
appearance stands. Reviewing persons in the legal field remains a head to toe scrutiny, since if
your appearance portrays competence, until there exists a mishandling of the case or the client,
their confidence in the firm remains solid. Upon studying the slides of the Professional Law Firm
slides, the evaluation follows:
Slide 1 appears to be a female junior attorney and a male junior attorney discussing a case in front
of a male senior attorney in the law firm. The female attorney ensemble consists of a gray
pinstriped suit jacket with a pale blue blouse. With her top button unfastened, her hair up and
formal, no distracting makeup or jewelry, her appearance seems a casual formal attire. The males
dressed formally, dark suits, both ties and hair view appropriate for their position. The two junior
attorneys appear to be inside the professional space bubble, without knowing what their
conversation concerns, the males smile seems inappropriate. The senior attorney s desk consists of
a well ordered and properly arranged appearance, over all a ... Show more content on

Once in court a judge called a recess, in order for an attorney to get his jacket and tie. The
attorney was wearing a nice dress shirt but it was open to the second button and the judge was a
stickler for appropriate attire. In our office, I had to either have long sleeves or wear short
sleeves and wear a jacket when meeting with clients. Our attorney loved the older style of dresses,
and once she went to court, after proceedings were complete, the judge asked her and I to chambers
where he told the attorney to release the past fashion and accept the new professional attire (Wann,

The Presidential Election Process
The presidential election process is a long and complicated procedure. Currently, we elect our
president and vice president by an indirect device known as the Electoral College. Under this
system, each state has as many electors as it has representatives and senators. Candidates who win
a plurality of the popular vote in a state secure all the states electoral votes. In order to win a
presidential election, a candidate must appeal successfully to the big states, such as California and
Texas. Many people are dissatisfied with our country s current election process. A candidate could
win the popular vote but lose the electoral vote, and thus lose the presidency. This method has led
to a lot of controversies and may eventually lead to election reforms. The primary is the first step in
choosing a party s presidential candidate. In most countries, the party picks the candidates. But in
the US, voters who declare support for one party or another gets to choose from the list of
candidates. The candidates, campaigning against other members of the same party, must win
enough state primaries to give them a majority of delegates at the party convention in the summer.
The first stage of a presidential campaign is the nomination campaign. At this time the candidate is
competing with other candidates in the same party, hoping to get ... Show more content on

Thousands of delegates gather to rally support for the platform and to nominate candidates for
president and vice president. From the 1820s until the 1930s, party conventions were boisterous
events in which determining a nominee could spark hot debate. By the mid 20th century, however,
primary elections had become the main way of selecting a nominee. After the convention, the
second stage of the presidential campaign begins the election campaign. In this stage, presidential

Descriptive Essay Flowers
Whenever I see flowers growing on the ground outside I always think of one of my favorite lines
from one of my favorite stories that says There are flowers in your brain, You hurt them when
you re mean to yourself. When you re nice to yourself, you give the flowers water and
sunshine.Be nice to your flowers, don t step on them. I love this quote because even though the
story is about a girl who has an abusive uncle, kills him in self defense, forgets everything and is
basically a child, and then somehow made it to New York to visit a girl she hasn t seen since
high school, I believe that this line is an extremely important thing for everyone to take to heart
and do. The story also shows that even though Mila treated Lo horribly in high school and
basically ruined all of Lo s high school life the girls still let Mila stay with them when she just
randomly showed up at the apartment asking for a bed. Also one of the main characters really
reminds me of one of my best friends, sweet, childlike, and innocent. When they opened the old
burgundy colored front doorof their apartment, there standing in the dimly lit, olive green, the
wallpapered hallway was a girl about their age, maybe around 19, with long flowing wavy brown
hair that went down to her waist. The girl was looking down at the dirty tan carpeted floor of the
hallway, tracing one of the diamond patterns on the ground with the toe of her dirt covered,
white, Converse. Her hands seemed to be folded behind her back as she was rocking back and
forth tracing the diamond pattern on the cheap carpet. Then the brunette suddenly stopped,
seeming to sense that the door had been opened, and looked up. The stranger was wearing a
sunflower yellow hoodie that was at least a two sizes too big for her, the hem of it hitting her
about mid thigh, and a pair of close cut light wash skinny jeans that were ripped at the knees.
Her eyes were the color of hot chocolate made with milk, and they were open wide making her
look innocent and almost childlike. The only makeup she appeared to be wearing was a little bit
of mascara and clear lipgloss. She studied me in silence for a moment then gave me a wide, toothy
smile then proceeded to reveal that she was actually holding

Marc Chagagall Essay
Marc Chagall is considered as one of the most popular artists of the 20th Century, famous for his
poetic, surreal imagery that represent a topsy turvy world, combining fantasy and spiritually
with a modernist style. Although the famous modern artist Marc Chagall is not only known as a
Jewish artist, his background is the vehicle through which he sees the world and becomes the
language of his universally valid art. Chagall once remarked in the Yiddish literary journal
Shtrom in 1922 as Leaves from My Notebook : If I were not a Jew... I would not have been an
artist, or I would be a different artist altogether. [1] The interwove of Chagall s Jewish background
and his multi cultural life experience has contributed a lot to his artistic inspiration... Show more

These murals contain various visual metaphors: on the left side of the imagery, there is a green
cow and a violist depicted, the green cow could be considered as a symbol of Chagall s
insistence of the anti Realism. From the green he used, which is an impossible color could
appear on a cow, we could tell Chagall s way to reinforce his objection to the realistic colors. The
violist beside the green cow is a popular actor of that time named Solomon Mikhoels, he was
particularly close, both personally and artistically to Chagall. [5] The violin that Mikhoels holding
in the imagery is a symbol of performance , which echoes his own occupation, as an entertainer
and a performer. With the reminiscent of the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple, Efros, the
gentleman depicted in black suit, presents the artists to assembled company, while latter offer his
services, in form of his palette, to Granovsky. The diminutive figure serving tea probably
represents the actor Krashinski, but also makes reference to the janitor Ephraim. Behind Chagall

Steroids In Sports Analysis
Issues Analysis Anabolic Steroids in Sport
Anabolic steroids are quiet a big problem in the fitness industry, these drugs are a quick unsafe
way to achieve lean muscle mass. They are used in many competitive sports such as football,
baseball and Olympic type events it s of course prohibited and players are tested but it s not
difficult for athletes to avoid detection. One of the most controversial sports that anabolic steroids
is involved with is bodybuilding, the reason happens to be because of the drug testing policies
which allow athletes to build there muscle with the drug then a couple weeks before the
competition the athletes cycle off so that test results show that there clean. I think the reason that
athletes are so obliged to take these performance enhancing drugs might be peer pressure from
coaches, parents, fellow athletes and even family, for some people it s the idea of winning that
drives them into taking these drugs.
One of the main reasons that this drug is prohibited along with being an effective performance
enhancer is its health risks. Athletes abusing this substance suffer from headaches, constant
vomiting, increased chance of physical injury, sleeping problems, high cholesterol and many other
heart and blood related conditions. Some people think the answer to these conditions is to cycle ...

abuse the substance making it more competitive forcing more athletes to use these drugs to stand a
chance. For some people the drug is considered healthy if used correctly and is not only a
performance enhancer but also an entertainment enhancer. But it is all a difference in perspective
and opinion whether you re for or against the rising growth of steroid use in the fitness

Stolen Art of the Holocaust
While death was the major tragedy of the Holocaust, all of the art stolen was definitely a dark
spot. Most people don t realize, but the art was taken from all Jews and many others by the Nazis.
Some pieces of art have been found, but most still remain lost. Many that have been discovered are
in museums and are not given to the true owners. There should be efforts spent on finding and
recovering the art stolen by the Nazis to return it to their rightful owners. Hitler would have his
soldiers take the art from the homes where the Jewslived when they took them away. Sometimes,
if he wanted a specific work of art, he would have his people steal it or take it and kill the people
who owned it. He would have his men steal all of the art and other artifacts from the homes of
every person they took to the concentration camps, as well as those they simply killed in their
homes. Taking the art was his way of taking everything from them, and a way that he could show
his superiority over them. He took it because it was something they had that he wanted. Very few
works of art taken by Hitler have been found, and many that are discovered reside in museums.
Some have been discovered in museums or galleries in Austria, while thousands still remain lost.
Recently, a long lost Monet and other art treasures stolen from Jews during the Holocaust have
been discovered in the home of an 81 year old German art collector, Julian states (Julian). Cornelius
Gurlitt, the art

No matter how smart or talented someone is, we all managed to lose our way in the twists and
turns of McDevitt s hallways at least once, especially when 8th and 9th period decided to switch
places every other day. But as we survived each school year, we all uncovered our own strategies
to solve the puzzles presented by each class. With each English class, we skimmed through the
most difficult of word searches, hoping to locate the perfect words for our numerous ex de texte
s. Not only did we find an economy of words which captured the essence of our thoughts, but we
also delved into the word searches of literature, dissecting its themes and characters up, down,
forwards, backwards, diagonally . . . you name it. By searching for quotes that revealed the
hidden meaning of the author, we discovered the letters and meanings that connect the fictitious
literary world with our reality. Through Geometry, Algebra, and Calculus, we were presented
with Sudoko like equations; we quickly found that if one number was wrong, the whole problem
was wrong. Most times, we were infinitely clueless on Mr. Lindberg s tests, whose answers
seemed imaginary; but when we found that one, specific number which allowed for rows,
columns, and boxes to be filled, we felt like Pythagoras when he proved the infamous Pythagorean
theorem that we use so often. Science classes were a Jumble, combining the realm of letters and
the world of numbers into what looked like chaos. However, once explained

addition, I have finished Will Grayson Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan and I
read 310 pages. The Girl on the Train is about an alcoholic named Rachel Watson. Rachel falls
into the cycle of alcoholism after she was unable to conceive a child, and when her husband
divorced her. Then one night Rachel blacked out from her alcohol consumption, the same night
Megan Hipwell went missing. Rachel becomes obsessed with Megan s disappearance and goes

Rachel does everything she can to unlock the truth. Rachel first talks to Megan s husband, and
originally decides that he could not have been the one who killed Megan. She then goes and
talks to Kamal Abdic, the man Megan was having an affair with, but Rachel despite the police
reports comes to believe that he would never have harmed Megan. At this point Rachel is not
satisfied and goes and talks to Scott again, but she finds him intoxicated and he physically abuses
her and locks her in a room, she eventually is released, but by now she thinks Scott is the culprit.
That is until she has a flashback from the night she was drunk and remembers seeing Megan
getting into Tom Watson s car, Rachel s ex husband. I d inserted the image of Anna, walking away
from me in her blue dress, into another scenario: Tom and a woman getting into a car. Because of
course that woman wasn t wearing a blue dress, she was wearing jeans and a red T shirt. She

Yeast Peroxidase Lab
The Relationship Between pH and Rate of Enzymatic Activity in a Yeast Peroxidase Solution
By: Lena O Neill and Ashrut Sood, D Block AP Biology, Submitted 10/30/16
This experiment addressed the correlation between pH and oxygen production of a yeast enzyme
reaction. It was hypothesized that enzymatic production would reach a peak at around 6 8 pH,
and then fall again. The original yeast peroxidase solution contained 4 mL of distilled water, 5 mL
of yeast suspension, and 1 mL 3.0% hydrogen peroxide. Acids and bases were added to the
solution in order to achieve the desired pH. While there were complications leading to a shortage
of data, the results pointed to a peak of enzymatic activity between 6 and 8 pH. This suggested that
the hypothesis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The highest O2 produced per minute occurred at 7.49 pH, while the lowest occurred at 4.19 pH not
including the control (Figure 2). The control solution produced no oxygen.
Discussion
The lack of data points leaves the result of the experiment to be inconclusive because in order to
prove the hypothesis correct, data points at higher pHs are necessary. The lack of data is the
result of technical struggles with the O2 probe, which in later experiments would have to be
fixed. This being said, the data obtained suggests a bell curve within the data, with the vertex of
the bell curve at around 7.5 pH. This bell curve, seen by the logarithmic fit used in the graph,
gives some evidence that the hypothesis could be correct since the peak falls in between 6 and 8 pH.
The results match the behavior of enzymatic activity discussed by past experiments measuring pH
effects on pyruvate kinase and xanthine oxidase (Bailey et al., 1968)( Stirpe della Corte, 1968). In
order to better the experiment in the future, more data collection is necessary, especially above the
pH of 9. An additional question to be considered would be: how could data collection be more
reliable in future experiments?

Titanic Thesis Statement
The Titanic may be one of the most famous and well known shipwrecks of our time. Just about
everyone learns of the tragedy in school and how it was a complete accident. Information has
been found that point to the tragedy not being what we think it is. There is evidence that shows
that the ship thought to be the Titanic may actually be named the Olympic, and may have been
used in an insurance scam. This evidence includes pictures showing different amounts of port
holes and even people working on the ship coming forward. It has yet to be proven if this is
100% true, but most would agree that all of this points to it being true. Everyone knows the story
of the Titanic. The ship was on its maiden voyage when it hit an iceberg and sank, leading to the
death of more than 1,500 people ( Titanic A+E Networks). It was a horrible event, but it may have
all been planned by the company that owned the ship. White Star Lineowned both the Titanic and its

Suicide Awareness Programs In the nursing field, there are several nursing interventions that exist.
Suicide awareness programs are a specific nursing intervention that could be used in a specific
situation. For a nursing intervention to be effective, it must be proven through scientific research,
making the intervention evidence based practice. The purpose of this assignment is to utilize and
evaluate evidence based practice regarding a specific nursing intervention. The specific nursing
intervention that has been chosen through article research is suicide awareness programs and how
they affect a nurses ability to recognize suicidal behaviors. The clinical question formulated from
information in the article chosen for this assignment is, do nurses who receive short training
programs along with a continuing education class monthly have improved ability to recognize
suicidal behaviors compared to nurses who only attend the monthly continuing education class?
Study Purpose The purpose of the study evaluates whether a short training program can improve
nurses abilities to recognize and effectively respond to patients exhibiting suicidal behavior (Tsai,
2011). The study was done because suicide is a major public health issue in Taiwan, where the
number of incidences has escalated greatly since the year 1997 (Tsai, 2011). Most suicide victims

Economies of scale and experience
These are important barriers of entry especially in current global automotive industry. In order to
achieve that, meaning an automobile company must have the ability to mass produce and sell a
large volume of cars to sell in order to breakeven. Established automotive leaders probably have an
advantage over a new entrant in achieving cost efficiency as they may have overcome this barrier

Ethnology. The Story Of Colonized People Has A Similar
Ethnology The story of colonized people has a similar tone in many parts of the world, but the
situation with the colonization of Australia is very similar to the story of the colonization of North
America by the Europeans. Both of these cases share similar issues and outcomes. First off, both
groups are typically generalized as one group in this case, the Aborigines and the Native Americans.
However, these groups are made up of many smaller clans or tribes that each had a unique language
and culture. Additionally, they both lived in a variety of different areas throughout their respective
continents, and thus it is hard to generalize them. Both the Aborigines and the Native American

Many of them live in high rate of poverty, similar to other indigenous groups around the world. As
of 2013, the disposable income of an indigenous person in Australia is about 70% of that of a non
indigenous person. This can be contributed to the fact that non indigenous people have much better
access to education, especially at the university level, and also to racial discrimination. Their lower
income means that they often live in very poor conditions according to an article published by the
Australian Broadcasting Corporation, their conditions can often be deemed fifth world . Many of
Aboriginal people in Central Australia are living in humpies , which are huts often constructed from
tree bark and branches, or shelters made from old car bodies. Alan Hudson, a former government
business manager, says that there was little improvement to the living conditions from the 1970s to
today.
Another problem that many Aboriginal people face is overcrowding of houses. In the Aboriginal
community on Palm Island, the average number of people to one house is seventeen, and about
27% of the population of Aboriginals live in overcrowded houses. The more remote the Aboriginal
community is, the more likely they are to suffer from poor living conditions. In 2006, the UN

lines of how they collaborate and infuse ideas from their group by communicating effectively to
convey the message they are trying to get across. Organizations that keep their teams up to date on
the company s situation and also take into consideration their employees ideas and suggestions are
far more likely to have higher morale which in turn leads to better productivity and drive in sales.

The Scanlon Plan is a plan based on the idea that incentives for employees will build company
morale and also increase sales and productivity by rewarding employees for their performance. This
is exactly what the company needed because what the company was facing now was a direct
consequence from management not being upfront and honest with their employees. There is a
direct correlation between communication and profitability. At the plant communication was poor
and management did not fully explain the business conditions to their employees to make them
aware of what was going on. In order to fix this problem they needed to fix how they
communicate with their employees directly. With Scanlon, employees feel as if they apart of the
bigger picture. When employees feel like they are apart of a team culture they are more willing to
accept new methods and are willing to cooperate better to change. By doing this, good
communication within the organization between management and their employees will likely
increase in a positive direction as well (Beer Collins, 2008). The way to be able to execute this
plan is by making sure that the plant discusses the

How Did The Seven Years War Affect Canada
Before everything for Canada was all great, many things were destroyed during events but later on
was able to be fixed and allow Canada to be stable just like how it is stated by Sir John A
Macdonald who said, I am a Canadian, free to speak without fear, free to worship my own way,
free to stand for what i think right, free to oppose to what i believe wrong, or free to choose who
shall govern my country. This heritage of freedom i pledge to uphold myself . This quote connects
very well as though Canadahad an unstable history, it ended to be able to be everything the quote
stated. However, in order to achieve this, many events occurred; such as the Spanish Succession
war, the Seven years war, as well as Loyalists that started settling in Upper Canada, and the Act of
Union. The Spanish Succession took place in 1713 allowing Britain to take over Acadia. Soon
after in 1763, the Seven years war took place and had allowed the British to gain more control
over more land known as North America. However, that was not the end of changes as more
happened in 1791 when more loyalists started settling in Upper Canada and had separated Upper
and Lower Canada, later on in 1838 the Act of Union occurred which had then combined Upper and
Lower Canada. Unfortunately,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was a huge European war fought by the French/Spanish and the British. Once it had ended
and the British gained victory once again which had affected the French and Spanish negatively,
and the British positively. Afterwards, each side agreed to return some of the places it had stolen
from the other side during the war. New France was not one of the places. This meant that it
remained a British colony. Later on, it was found that the colony of New France did not last. It
officially ended with the Treaty of Paris. This proves that, because of the peace treaty of Paris, the

Ice to the Eskimos
Spolestra articulates 19 principles or ground rules of jump start marketing, which are:
1.You ve got to want to clip on the wires and turn up the juice. In other words you and your team
must be highly motivated to try new things to reposition your product.
2.Don t fool yourself into thinking you re somebody else accept the realistic limitations of your
core product or service, and build from there.
3.Increase the frequency of purchases by your customers. No matter how poor your current product
or service, you must have some customers or clients. One key strategic dimension that you should
be thinking about is how to augment and reposition your product in order to sell more to this group.
4.Get the name and address of the end ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Copies were then given to the immediate customer who could then pass one along to his or her boss.
14.Run interference for your budding superstars. People who share a passion and a talent for jump
start marketing are invaluable, and should be nurtured and encouraged within your organization.
15.Make it too good of a deal on purpose. This is a fundamental point. Spolestra maintains that
you must find some way of repositioning or reformulating your product or service to make it
something that your potential customers simply cannot refuse. With the New Jersey Nets, one of
the ways they did this was to package a barbecue family dinner and drinks with the game. They
managed their costs so that the dinner alone was a bargain for the ticket price, to say nothing of
the game being thrown in as part of the deal. Tickets were sold by the thousands, the games were
standing room only, and the franchise made lots of money. Again, we see this approach of de
emphasizing the core product (the quality of the team), and augmenting and repositioning an
enhanced product in its place.
16.Feel free to butt into other departments. Jump start marketing cannot be confined to the
marketing or sales department alone. Because it involves (sometimes drastically) reformulating the
product or service, it must cut across the various departments in the organization. The people who
do this may run into problems, and this is where rule # 14 comes

Portfolio Project – Norma Rae Essay
They are free to exploit you, to lie to you, to cheat you and to take away from you what is
rightfully yours your health, a decent wage, a fit place to work (Asseyev, Rose, Ritt, 1979). In the
movie Norma Rae, union organizer Reuben Warshovsky, delivered this powerful speech to
workers at the O.P. Henley textile mill. He warned them that without union representation they
would continue to be taken advantage of by management. The movie, set in 1978, showed textile
workers in a small, southern town who were forced to work long hours for a measly wage in
deplorable and unsafe conditions. These workers were characteristically poorly educated and
largely unskilled (Leiter, 1986, p. 951). The management was neglectful of and apathetic to... Show

The on site mill doctor insensitively diagnosed the mother s problem as an expected side effect
of working at the mill. To this Norma Rae angrily declared to her mother, They don t care
anything about you (Asseyev, Rose, Ritt, 1979). Furthermore, Norma Rae s overworked father,
who was paid only $1.33 per hour, keeled over and died after being denied a break by his
supervisor when he was experiencing symptoms of a heart attack. Textile workers were oppressed
and dissatisfied, but had no voice in the mill. When workers become increasingly dissatisfied with
their present employment, they may seek to improve their workplace by forming a union instead of
leaving the position (Fossum, 2012, p. 7). Fossum (2012) suggests that dissatisfaction alone does
not mean that unionization will occur. Employees must also feel that they are unable to influence
change on their own and believe that collective bargaining would enhance workplace conditions
(Fossum, 2012). In the textile workers case, the mill was their livelihood. Unionization would be
their only chance to improve their quality of life. By gaining union representation, workers hope to
present a unified voice to management to negotiate acceptable workplace provisions. Unions give
workers a voice in decisions that affect them (Noe, Hollenbeck, Gerhart, Wright, 2007, p. 467). In
the movie, Reuben stressed to the mill workers that by joining the

1943. I Walked with a Zombie, is a tale told in a suspenseful style which incorporates the usage of
light and shadow instead of many special effects to portray a scary, compelling, and engaging story.
Val Lewton described the filma West Indian version of Jan Eyre, with its abnormal first wife, its
noble suffering husband, and its selfless nurse who becomes wife number two. The film is similar
to Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre, in which a young Canadian nurse named Betsy Connell heads to

75 percent if the studio s foreign income in 1939. However, the European markets were severely
disrupted by the outbreak of war in September 1939 and continued to decline as fighting

Pierre Trudeau s Actions And Decisions
The October Crisis that occurred in 1970 is quite a controversial topic, however, one can say that
prime minister, Pierre Trudeau handled it quite well. Trudeau s actions and decisions to resolve
the October Crisis were justified. His actions were validated by the FLQ s (Front de LibГ©ration
du Quebec) intellectual ideas and the immediate threat he dealt with. Trudeau made quick political
decisions to handle the calamity, however, the immediate crisis was impacting the cities across
Quebec. His actions were proven to be the best and most accurate actions, because the War

good intentions, and as prime minister he dealt with the October Crisisin a way that ensured the
safety of the province. Trudeau s character and decisions, validates his actions to resolve the crisis
in 1970.
The FLQ had many intellectual ideas that forced Trudeau to make the necessary actions towards
the crisis. There were three intentions of the FLQ kidnappings of James Cross and Pierre Laporte.
The FLQ wanted to obtain the release of 23 FLQ members jailed for bombings and other violent
offences. The group wanted to cause confusion, fear and gain publicity and sympathy for their aims
of having Quebec become an independent state, and their third motive was to trigger insurrection
and capitulation. (Tetley, p. 39) These intentions of the FLQ caused harm and chaos to the

Comparing All Quiet On The Western Front, The Hollow Men,...
War: a state of armed conflict between different nations or states or different groups within a
nation or state. War is not just a fight between two organized groups, it is a living hell where
people decide if they are going to live or die. The horrors of war are manifested with great detail
and imagery in All Quiet on the Western Front, The Hollow Men , and In the Field. War
helps to
show people the nightmares of the world, soldiers can be overtaken by the awful experiences
they encounter. When Paul Baumer was visiting Kemmerich in the hospital, Kemmerich was
close to death My thoughts become confused. This atmosphere of carbolic and gangrene clogs
the lungs, it is a thick gruel, it suffocates (Remarque 29). Paul s senses were overtaken by war,
the smell of the hospital overwhelms him, but throughout war soldier s air they breathe, the
sounds they hear, and the pain they endure is all controlled by war. In The Hollow Men the
soldiers are described as Sightless, unless/ The eyes reappear (Elliott). When at war, soldiers are
engulfed with the horrors of war, sensory experiences, both good and bad, overwhelm the soldiers.

Chocolate. It is an American necessity. The prominence of chocolate in the American lifestyle is

chocolate exhibits ongoing cultural and economic effects that cacao has and have had on Latin
America and its import countries, from the use of cacao in ceremonies and rituals and for
medicinal purposes, to colonial cacao plantations, and finally to present day mass production of

It is documented in the Badianus Manuscript that bathing with cacao flowers would relieve
fatigue, chocolate drinks were drunk to relieve digestive discomforts, and cacao can cure
infections when mixed with liquid from the silk cotton tree bark (Grivetti, Shapiro 68). Aside
from culturally shaping the use of cacao, perhaps the Aztec s greatest contribution to the
evolution of cacao was introducing the chocolate drink to Hernan CortГ©s, who then shared the
recipe with the Spanish court, and with little sugar, the drink became a hit (Growing Cocoa).
Today, chocolate is popularly associated with gifting. Big, well known chocolate processing
and packaging companies like Hershey s mass produce heart shaped boxes of sampler
chocolates and giant Hershey s Kisses just for Valentines day. Cadbury is most notably known
for making their egg chocolates with crГЁme filling for Easter. Chocolates are also packaged for
other holidays such as Christmas, New Years, and Halloween. In between those holidays are
anniversaries and birthdays, where chocolate serves as an easily attainable gift that most anyone
will appreciate. Gifting chocolate is not exclusive to celebrations; it could be a peace offering
after an argument, a sweet apology, or a comfort food for someone who has gone through a tough
time. Consuming chocolate does not make us feel good because we have the preconception that it
will, it does so by causing the brain to release endorphins.

Mind Body Problem
Per the theory, the mind is about mental processes, thought and consciousness. The body is about
the physical aspects of the brain neurons and how the brain is structured. The mind body problem is
about how these two interact. One of the biggest questions in psychology and philosophy concerns
the mind/body problem: If they are distinct, then how do they interact? And which of the two is in
charge? Many theories have been put forward to explain the relationship between what we call your
mind, so defined as the conscious thinking you which experiences your thoughts or spiritual being
and your brain, part of your body. However, the most common explanation concerns the question of
whether the mind and body are separate entities or the same thing. While asking and recording my
responses for this particular exercise a few came up with the choice number 4 which stated,
Nonphysical things cannot casually interact with physical things when comparing it , your mind
being able to interact with physical things in general was immediately shut down , that it was not

The Great Faults With Society
During the 50 s a widespread virus appeared on the scene, and there was a critical need for a cure to
this virus. The solution to this problem was the new innovation of test tube babies, who were
genetically engineered and modified. Hailsham was a mysterious school designed to raise these test
tube kids and dooming them to a predetermined fate of donating their organs. These students were
clones of regular people in society who had the money to create them, and the students were
mandated to donate their organs to their clone. The three main characters: Kathy, Ruth and Tommy
are the focus of attention throughout the novel, their divergent personalities help to create different
themes and ideas. Never Let Me Go is a journey involving conformity, friendships and the ideal of
hopein order to unravel the horrible lives they live in. This showcases the great faults with
society and makes the reader ponder on the possibility of the approaching doom of mankind. The
main character and narrator of the story is Kathy, she relives the events of the story based on the

Comparison Of The Celebrated Jumping Frog Of Calaveras...
Mark Twain is known as a great author from his own unique style of writing. All his publications
have a similarity in a certain style of his writing which makes his works of art such amazing books.
Chapter 12 of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and The celebrated Jumping
Frog of Calaveras County , both written by Mark Twainhave many similarities in the form of
figurative language, syntax, and diction.
To start with, Mark Twain s figurative language helps make his story unique. He utilises a range of
bizzare similes in both passages that make these stories stay true to the past and humorous. For
example in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn Twain writes, ... cottonwood thick as harrow
teeth . This would be considered as one of his similes that are very unusual since many readers
might not know what a harrow even is but as you can infer, that in those times people in the book
would have known what he was speaking about. This shows how his bizzare similes stick to the
time period of his writing. To add, in the second publication the similes
Twain had integrated made the story a little more humorous to read. Twain writes, He was a
different dog, his underjaw d began to stick out like the fo castle of a steamboat,... (The celebrated
Jumping Frog of Calaveras County 6). This shows how his use of similes here was humorous since
Twain made fun of a dog with a large underbite. Although, his use of similes is fantastic his use of
symbolism was excellent also. ... Andrew jackson

Prohibition Of Drugs And Alcohol
Popular belief holds that consumption of drugs and alcohol encourages violence and that the
appropriate response is prohibition of these goods. However, a different viewpoint is that
prohibition creates illegal underground markets, which require violence and crime to remedy in
house disputes. This paper examines the relationship between prohibitionand violence using the
historical data and behavior following previous U.S. drugand alcohol laws, regulations, and
enforcement on indicators of violence, e.g. homicide rates, and government enforcement
expenditures. The results show that an increase in enforcement of drug and alcohol prohibition
laws have been positively associated with increases in the homicide rate. Furthermore,
supplementary evidence suggests this strong positive correlation prohibition enforcement on
violence and the overall crime rate.
I. Introduction
Is Prohibition actually successful in reducing recreational drug consumption and drug related
violence? This is the question that will be analyzed in this paper. Drug enforcement officials
frequently cite drug related violence as a reason that drugs must be eliminated from our society. A
contrary belief is that the system of drug prohibition actually causes most of the violence. Just like
with alcohol prohibition in the 1920s and the rise of organized crime, drug prohibition inspires a
dangerous underground market that manifests itself with violent crime throughout the U.S. and, in
fact, the

Marfan Syndrome Characteristics
Marfan syndrome is a genetic condition that affects the human body s connective tissues, or the
muscular system (Braverman 2017). The symptoms of this syndrome can vary from being
moderate to life threatening. Some symptoms of Marfan Syndrome are having abnormally long
fingers, legs, and arms, that are disproportionate with a person s height (Adamec 2005). Having
joints that move past the limit of a regular person is another symptom. Someone with Marfan
Syndrome may also have scoliosis, which is the rounding or arch of the spine. Another trait of
Marfan syndrome is pectus excavatum or sunken chest and pectus carinatum, which is the
protrusion of the chest (Adamec 2005). The life threatening symptoms of this genetic disorder
involve the heart. A person with Marfan syndrome can have leakage of the heart valves or
weakness in the aorta. These symptoms can result in heart disease or aneurysm, which can make
death early (Turkington 2004). Since Marfan syndrome is a genetic disorder, people who have this
condition are born with it. One parent has to have this disease in order for their... Show more

However, cautious medical management can help prolong and make better the prognosis of
someone with this genetic condition (Turkington 2004). In order to prevent life threatening
symptoms, refraining from physical activity should be considered because it will prevent any stress
being put on the aorta. An annual test called, Echocardiogram, should be scheduled because it can
monitor the function and size of the aorta and heart (Turkington 2004). Another treatment involving
the cardiovascular system is the removal and replacement of the aortic root. This procedure
decreases the chances of getting heart disease if you are afflicted with the disorder (Adamec
2005). If problems with the eyes is a symptom developed with Marfan syndrome, eye exams with
an ophthalmologist should be periodic and regularly (Turkington

Descriptive Essay About My Family
My Oasis
A little girl with blonde hair and blue eyes stares out the window of her parents red Mazda
Tribute. As the Mazda comes to a stop, the little girl lays her eyes upon a big green house with a
sign out front that says, Welcome to the Lake . That blue eyed girl was me ten years ago, and
that big green house was my grandparent s lake house right after they purchased it. This was the
first time I ever laid eyes on a home that now holds a special place in my heart. I have grown to
love the lake house for three reasons; the lake provides me with a place to connect with my family,
it s a retreat from the outside world, and I have many different hobbies that involve the lake.
Directly in the middle of the large green lake house is a family room. The room has two dark
blue couches and the floor has bean bags scattered all over; all of the seats provide us with
enough space to fit my grandparents, aunts, uncles, parents, siblings, and cousins all in one
room. Whenever families get bigger they start to drift apart because everyone has so much going
on. All of my family lives less than fifteen minutes away from me, but sometimes we all get so
caught up in our own lives that we forget how important it is to spend time with each other. This
family room is our anchor; It provides us with a place where we can all forget about the little
things in our lives and focus on what matters, family. Some of my best memories of the lake aren t
even about the lake, but instead the memories

Hispanics do come through the system but not as much as blacks juveniles, with a small number
of kids that are Caucasian and other races. Blacks and Hispanics usually can t afford a private
attorney like the Caucasian kids and other races, and usually have to end up with a public defender
unless it is a high profile case and a private attorney comes in.
According to Juvenile Courts, a juvenile is classified into three different groups. The first group is
considered a Delinquent. A Delinquent is a person who is under age (usually below 18), who is
found to have committed a crime in states that have declared by law that a minor lacks
responsibility and thus may not be sentenced as an adult (Legal Dictionary). Another term a
juvenile can be referred to be a status offender. A status offender is a juvenile charged with or
adjudicated for conduct that would not, under the law of the jurisdiction in which the offense was
committed, be a crime if committed by an adult (Act 4 Juvenile Justice). Finally a Juvenile can be
identified as a dependent and neglected child. These are usually youth that are deprived and in
need of support and supervision (Cliff Notes)
Not every child that encounters a police is taken in custody. Police officers are more lenient on
juveniles because they do not want a stigma to be placed on them as they grow up. Some youth s

The Governing Body Of Soccer
The People s Game Soccer
Football, fГєtbol, fuГџball, soccer. No matter what the name, it is a sport that is played throughout
the world. The current governing body of soccer is the FГ©dГ©ration Internationale de Football
Association (FIFA) headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland. Just like any large cooperation, they are
not without fault when it comes to integrity issues, such as the recent corruption scandal in 2015.
Nonetheless, the idea of the game was created to be pure in order to have friendly competition.
The concept of the game in which is known today was established in 1863 in England. However,
the origins of the game have been scientific traced dating back to the second and third centuries in
China (FIFA). In 1863, the game that was played centuries before split into two factions; one
faction continued to use their hands and became rugby, the other became soccer. Breaking the
soccer down to the basics of today; each team is allowed to have 11 players on the field, goal
keepers are the only ones allowed to use their hands, and the objective is to get the spherical ball
into the other team s goal without using their hands. The evolution of the game has allowed soccer
become the best sport in the world because it teaches teamwork, goals, and camaraderie.
The word teamwork is used very regularly; however, it is much easier said than done, especially
when it comes to sports. Teamwork is about remaining positive, having trust, accepting

operated. During this time, travel agent fees were going through the roof and reserving an airline
ticket was a complicated, drawn out process. To counter this, Southwest implemented its own
reservation system tailored to their own needs, which also included the industry s first paperless
ticketing system; but this wasn t the end of IT innovation from Southwest Airlines. In 1995,
Southwest.com was launched, and the online ticketing and reservation system was launched in
1996. Soon thereafter, Southwest Airlines ticket sales were primarily coming from their online
reservation system (70%). By the late 90 s, Southwest.com was the most visited airlinewebsite [4].
By the start of the millennium, Southwest airlines had already mastered another IT milestone
which is still in use to this very day: allowing the passenger to print their own boarding vouchers
and allowing passengers to self check in on their own computer even before arriving at the airport
[4]! By implementing these two features on the Southwest website, the airline was able to reduce
the number of customer service agents at check in counters and allowed customers to spend
minimal time waiting at an airport [2]. This increases both passenger and staff efficiency, making
the mundane task of waiting around at an airport virtually a thing of the past.
Industry Analysis:Applying the Porter model to Southwest Airlines, we can see airline that is
surrounded by fierce competition and costs [4]. For intra industry

Octopus Evolution
People have been comparing the octopus to an alien life form for years most notably mollusk
expert Martin Wells, grandson of H.G. Wells, who ate his subjects after he experimented on them.
Wells anecdotally referred to octopuses as the only alien intelligence that humans have encountered.
But try as he might, Wells who devoted his life to the study of cephalopods could not tap the
origins of the creature s intelligence.
Now, a new breakthrough in octopus genome mapping has revealed that the strange creatures have
more secrets than we ever realized.
Scientists at the University of Chicago, the University of California at Berkeley, and the Okinawa
Institute of Science and Technology have fully mapped the DNA sequencing of the Bimac octopus,
better known as the California two spot octopus. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alien????? Everything Octopus
For starters, the DNA of an octopus contains nearly 10,000 more gene codes than that of a human.
Various clusters of these gene codes perform different tasks and octopus genes are specially
equipped to do very versatile things. For instance, six different octopus gene codes combine to
produce an octopus s ability to rapidly camouflage itself. Another gene type, protocadherin, allows
the development of neurons and neural transmissions.
Most mammals, including humans, only have 70 or so protocadherins. The octopus has 168. And
the octopus has one of the largest gene families devoted to development of any animal we ve
mapped so far second only to the elephant.
Perhaps the biggest surprise is that the DNA of an octopus is essentially like a road map where
the road signs keep hopping around. The octopus has an extremely large number of jumping genes,
called transposons, that can easily change their position in a protein chain. Researchers also found
evidence in the octopus s RNA suggesting that they can easily alter their own protein sequences. In
the researchers press release, Caroline Albertin, who co led the study,

A Summary Of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
Kimmy Schmidt a young, naive girl who comes to New York City in escape from her kidnapper.
Kimmy is seeking to make a name for herself in the big city with nothing. After discovering that
she was a doomsday cult survivor, Kimmy tries to live every moment to the fullest. In
Unbreakable:Kimmy Schmidt, Tina Fey, the director, portrays Kimmy as having an outwardly
colorful soul after coming up from the bunker, but in reality Kimmy is just attempting to live the
lost life of the teenager that she never could discovered in the bunker.
An interview with E!, Ellie Kemper had this to say about her character Kimmy: Bad things will
happen. That s what life is, but the ability to overcome that and surmount it and let those
experiences define you is, I think, what makes [Kimmy] so inspiring. 1 Unbreakable Kimmy
Schmidt is full of obscure and selfish characters. Many of these characters have no sense of a
moral compass and each character comes with a unique backstory on life. While Unbreakable
Kimmy Schmidt is written in a comedic style and is absolutely the goofiest show you will come
accross, Tina Fey frequently aims and shoots at controversial subject targets, in order to have her
opinion heard.
Feminism and race/sexuallity play an immense in shaping the story structure for. Feminism is a
major part of Kimmy s discovery of the new world , and Tina Fey makes sure she uncovers this in
a very monotoned sense. At one point in the show, a random New yorker guy hits on Kimmy by

Tactical Crime Analysis
Analysis and Crime Mapping
Many people have heard of crime analyst from TV shows or movies but probably do not
comprehend what they actually do. Some people may even confuse crime analysis with CSI which
deals with forensics. In the following paragraphs, the position of crime analyst will be explained
along with the geographical information system and the three most popular crime analysis methods.
What does crime analyst do
For most law enforcement agencies, a crime analyst main objective is to provide information in
order to accomplish their mission of prevention and suppression of criminal activities(Canter, n.d.).

The three most prevalent crime analysis methods that are tactical, strategical, and
administrative(Wyckoff, 2014). Tactical crime analysis incorporates information analyzed for the
purpose of short term solutions(Wyckoff, 2014). Tactical crime analysis information is usually
kept internal and produced on a daily basis(Wyckoff, 2014). Moreover, tactical crime analysis aids
in the development of patrol and investigation practices along with deployment of
resources(Wyckoff, 2014). Most of the data used for tactical crime analysis devises from police
reports(Wyckoff, 2014). Some examples of tactical crime analysis are repeated incident analysis,
crime pattern analysis, and linking known offenders to prior crimes(Wyckoff, 2014). Another
type of crime analysis is strategic which data is analyzed for the purpose of creating and
evaluating of long term strategies, policies, and prevention techniques(Wyckoff, 2014). Strategic
crime analysis is usually conducted slowly and at a deliberate pace(Wyckoff, 2014). The process
of strategic crime analysis begins with police reports by is heavily influenced by outside sources
of information which can be produced by quantitative or qualitative methods(Wyckoff, 2014).
Some examples of strategic crime analysis are trend analysis, hot spot analysis, and problem
analysis(Wyckoff, 2014). Lastly, there is administrative crime analysis which deals with
management needs(Wyckoff, 2014). This crime analysis approach is very broad where actions are
taken either regularly or upon request(Wyckoff, 2014). Analyzing information to develop patrol
staffing, districting and re districting, cost benefits, and resource deployment for special occasions
are some examples of the administrative crime analysis approach(Wyckoff,

Hr Role In The Military Profession
No one is more professional than I, I am a Noncommissioned Officer, a leader of Soldiers . The
NCO creed tells us that the expectation is to be professional. What does being professional consist
of? The Army is an American Profession of Arms, a vocation comprised of experts certified in the
ethical application of land combat power, serving under civilian authority, entrusted to defend the
Constitution and the right and interests of the American people. In this essay, I will identify the
importance of the role of Human Resources (HR) Sergeant in the Profession of Arms.
As you look at the Army and think of it as a profession of Arms, you have to look at the balancing
roles of professional leaders. First, is the role of the strategic leaders, they balance the relationship
between the Army s four fields of expertise and its current and potential future operating
environment. The second area of balance is the relationship between the Army s culture and climate

Failures Of The October Revolution
Vincent Herschlein October Revolution 17th of March, 2015
The statement The October Revolution (1917) resulted not from the actions of the Bolsheviks, but
from the failure of the Provisional Government. is largely agreeable as the mishandling of military
decisions, as well as the socio political failures of the Provisional Government allowed the
Bolsheviks to seize power. However, the October Revolution cannot be entirely attributed to the
failures of the Provisional Government, as the Bolshevik s strategic exploitation of the weaknesses
of the Provisional Government also played an important role in the October Revolution.

In times of desperation, a light joke could be just what is needed to help take away all the built
up negativity weighing everyone down. Most presidents have had their share of funny
moments, but they were all too watered down; every president was predictable. This did not
apply to President Obama however, as he was what was considered to be the first postmodern
humorist to take office (Heil para 5). Obamas humor belonged to a comedy sub genre, a type of
humor that involved self awareness, defined by irony, and had some sort of quirky references.
He once spoke to an audience about revealing his birth video, which ended up being a clip from
the movie Lion King. He continued to say it was a joke (Heil para 8). He was able to lighten up
the mood with a quick reference to an old classic childhood movie that almost everyone knows.
Barack Obama was able to win over his people with his familiar, friendly humor. This was a huge

  • 2. Appearance And Court Case Analysis In the legal field, key to presenting competence to your client, opposing attorneys, and the court, appearance stands. Reviewing persons in the legal field remains a head to toe scrutiny, since if your appearance portrays competence, until there exists a mishandling of the case or the client, their confidence in the firm remains solid. Upon studying the slides of the Professional Law Firm slides, the evaluation follows: Slide 1 appears to be a female junior attorney and a male junior attorney discussing a case in front of a male senior attorney in the law firm. The female attorney ensemble consists of a gray pinstriped suit jacket with a pale blue blouse. With her top button unfastened, her hair up and formal, no distracting makeup or jewelry, her appearance seems a casual formal attire. The males dressed formally, dark suits, both ties and hair view appropriate for their position. The two junior attorneys appear to be inside the professional space bubble, without knowing what their conversation concerns, the males smile seems inappropriate. The senior attorney s desk consists of a well ordered and properly arranged appearance, over all a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once in court a judge called a recess, in order for an attorney to get his jacket and tie. The attorney was wearing a nice dress shirt but it was open to the second button and the judge was a stickler for appropriate attire. In our office, I had to either have long sleeves or wear short sleeves and wear a jacket when meeting with clients. Our attorney loved the older style of dresses, and once she went to court, after proceedings were complete, the judge asked her and I to chambers where he told the attorney to release the past fashion and accept the new professional attire (Wann, ... • 3. The Presidential Election Process The presidential election process is a long and complicated procedure. Currently, we elect our president and vice president by an indirect device known as the Electoral College. Under this system, each state has as many electors as it has representatives and senators. Candidates who win a plurality of the popular vote in a state secure all the states electoral votes. In order to win a presidential election, a candidate must appeal successfully to the big states, such as California and Texas. Many people are dissatisfied with our country s current election process. A candidate could win the popular vote but lose the electoral vote, and thus lose the presidency. This method has led to a lot of controversies and may eventually lead to election reforms. The primary is the first step in choosing a party s presidential candidate. In most countries, the party picks the candidates. But in the US, voters who declare support for one party or another gets to choose from the list of candidates. The candidates, campaigning against other members of the same party, must win enough state primaries to give them a majority of delegates at the party convention in the summer. The first stage of a presidential campaign is the nomination campaign. At this time the candidate is competing with other candidates in the same party, hoping to get ... From the 1820s until the 1930s, party conventions were boisterous events in which determining a nominee could spark hot debate. By the mid 20th century, however, primary elections had become the main way of selecting a nominee. After the convention, the second stage of the presidential campaign begins the election campaign. • 4. Descriptive Essay Flowers Whenever I see flowers growing on the ground outside I always think of one of my favorite lines from one of my favorite stories that says There are flowers in your brain, You hurt them when you re mean to yourself. When you re nice to yourself, you give the flowers water and sunshine.Be nice to your flowers, don t step on them. I love this quote because even though the story is about a girl who has an abusive uncle, kills him in self defense, forgets everything and is basically a child, and then somehow made it to New York to visit a girl she hasn t seen since high school, I believe that this line is an extremely important thing for everyone to take to heart and do. The story also shows that even though Mila treated Lo horribly in high school and basically ruined all of Lo s high school life the girls still let Mila stay with them when she just randomly showed up at the apartment asking for a bed. Also one of the main characters really reminds me of one of my best friends, sweet, childlike, and innocent. When they opened the old burgundy colored front doorof their apartment, there standing in the dimly lit, olive green, the wallpapered hallway was a girl about their age, maybe around 19, with long flowing wavy brown hair that went down to her waist. The girl was looking down at the dirty tan carpeted floor of the hallway, tracing one of the diamond patterns on the ground with the toe of her dirt covered, white, Converse. Her hands seemed to be folded behind her back as she was rocking back and forth tracing the diamond pattern on the cheap carpet. Then the brunette suddenly stopped, seeming to sense that the door had been opened, and looked up. The stranger was wearing a sunflower yellow hoodie that was at least a two sizes too big for her, the hem of it hitting her about mid thigh, and a pair of close cut light wash skinny jeans that were ripped at the knees. Her eyes were the color of hot chocolate made with milk, and they were open wide making her look innocent and almost childlike. The only makeup she appeared to be wearing was a little bit of mascara and clear lipgloss. She studied me in silence for a moment then gave me a wide, toothy smile then proceeded to reveal that she was actually holding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Marc Chagagall Essay Marc Chagall is considered as one of the most popular artists of the 20th Century, famous for his poetic, surreal imagery that represent a topsy turvy world, combining fantasy and spiritually with a modernist style. Although the famous modern artist Marc Chagall is not only known as a Jewish artist, his background is the vehicle through which he sees the world and becomes the language of his universally valid art. Chagall once remarked in the Yiddish literary journal Shtrom in 1922 as Leaves from My Notebook : If I were not a Jew... I would not have been an artist, or I would be a different artist altogether. These murals contain various visual metaphors: on the left side of the imagery, there is a green cow and a violist depicted, the green cow could be considered as a symbol of Chagall s insistence of the anti Realism. From the green he used, which is an impossible color could appear on a cow, we could tell Chagall s way to reinforce his objection to the realistic colors. The violist beside the green cow is a popular actor of that time named Solomon Mikhoels, he was particularly close, both personally and artistically to Chagall. [5] The violin that Mikhoels holding in the imagery is a symbol of performance , which echoes his own occupation, as an entertainer and a performer. The diminutive figure serving tea probably represents the actor Krashinski, but also makes reference to the janitor Ephraim. Behind Chagall are images relating to the art of synagogue. Steroids In Sports Analysis Issues Analysis Anabolic Steroids in Sport Anabolic steroids are quiet a big problem in the fitness industry, these drugs are a quick unsafe way to achieve lean muscle mass. They are used in many competitive sports such as football, baseball and Olympic type events it s of course prohibited and players are tested but it s not difficult for athletes to avoid detection. One of the most controversial sports that anabolic steroids is involved with is bodybuilding, the reason happens to be because of the drug testing policies which allow athletes to build there muscle with the drug then a couple weeks before the competition the athletes cycle off so that test results show that there clean. I think the reason that athletes are so obliged to take these performance enhancing drugs might be peer pressure from coaches, parents, fellow athletes and even family, for some people it s the idea of winning that drives them into taking these drugs. One of the main reasons that this drug is prohibited along with being an effective performance enhancer is its health risks. Athletes abusing this substance suffer from headaches, constant vomiting, increased chance of physical injury, sleeping problems, high cholesterol and many other heart and blood related conditions. Some people think the answer to these conditions is to cycle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 7. Stolen Art of the Holocaust While death was the major tragedy of the Holocaust, all of the art stolen was definitely a dark spot. Most people don t realize, but the art was taken from all Jews and many others by the Nazis. Some pieces of art have been found, but most still remain lost. Many that have been discovered are in museums and are not given to the true owners. There should be efforts spent on finding and recovering the art stolen by the Nazis to return it to their rightful owners. Hitler would have his soldiers take the art from the homes where the Jewslived when they took them away. Sometimes, if he wanted a specific work of art, he would have his people steal it or take it and kill the people who owned it. He would have his men steal all of the art and other artifacts from the homes of every person they took to the concentration camps, as well as those they simply killed in their homes. Taking the art was his way of taking everything from them, and a way that he could show his superiority over them. He took it because it was something they had that he wanted. Very few works of art taken by Hitler have been found, and many that are discovered reside in museums. Some have been discovered in museums or galleries in Austria, while thousands still remain lost. Recently, a long lost Monet and other art treasures stolen from Jews during the Holocaust have been discovered in the home of an 81 year old German art collector, Julian states (Julian). Good evening and welcome to the graduation ceremony for Bishop McDevitt High School s Class of 2017. On behalf of my classmates, I would like to thank you all for the encouragement and guidance you have given us, as we finish these years with pride, integrity, and respect for both ourselves and for each other. Most importantly, thank you to our parents. Without your endless love, hugs, and care, we would not be donning these blue caps and gowns, ready to receive the diplomas that you have helped us earn. No matter how smart or talented someone is, we all managed to lose our way in the twists and turns of McDevitt s hallways at least once, especially when 8th and 9th period decided to switch places every other day. But as we survived each school year, we all uncovered our own strategies to solve the puzzles presented by each class. With each English class, we skimmed through the most difficult of word searches, hoping to locate the perfect words for our numerous ex de texte s. Not only did we find an economy of words which captured the essence of our thoughts, but we also delved into the word searches of literature, dissecting its themes and characters up, down, forwards, backwards, diagonally . . . you name it. By searching for quotes that revealed the hidden meaning of the author, we discovered the letters and meanings that connect the fictitious literary world with our reality. Through Geometry, Algebra, and Calculus, we were presented with Sudoko like equations; we quickly found that if one number was wrong, the whole problem was wrong. Most times, we were infinitely clueless on Mr. Lindberg s tests, whose answers seemed imaginary; but when we found that one, specific number which allowed for rows, columns, and boxes to be filled, we felt like Pythagoras when he proved the infamous Pythagorean theorem that we use so often. Science classes were a Jumble, combining the realm of letters and the world of numbers into what looked like chaos. However, once explained ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At this point Rachel is not satisfied and goes and talks to Scott again, but she finds him intoxicated and he physically abuses her and locks her in a room, she eventually is released, but by now she thinks Scott is the culprit. That is until she has a flashback from the night she was drunk and remembers seeing Megan getting into Tom Watson s car, Rachel s ex husband. • 10. Yeast Peroxidase Lab The Relationship Between pH and Rate of Enzymatic Activity in a Yeast Peroxidase Solution By: Lena O Neill and Ashrut Sood, D Block AP Biology, Submitted 10/30/16 This experiment addressed the correlation between pH and oxygen production of a yeast enzyme reaction. It was hypothesized that enzymatic production would reach a peak at around 6 8 pH, and then fall again. The original yeast peroxidase solution contained 4 mL of distilled water, 5 mL of yeast suspension, and 1 mL 3.0% hydrogen peroxide. Acids and bases were added to the solution in order to achieve the desired pH. While there were complications leading to a shortage of data, the results pointed to a peak of enzymatic activity between 6 and 8 pH. This suggested that the hypothesis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The highest O2 produced per minute occurred at 7.49 pH, while the lowest occurred at 4.19 pH not including the control (Figure 2). The control solution produced no oxygen. Discussion The lack of data points leaves the result of the experiment to be inconclusive because in order to prove the hypothesis correct, data points at higher pHs are necessary. The lack of data is the result of technical struggles with the O2 probe, which in later experiments would have to be fixed. This being said, the data obtained suggests a bell curve within the data, with the vertex of the bell curve at around 7.5 pH. This bell curve, seen by the logarithmic fit used in the graph, gives some evidence that the hypothesis could be correct since the peak falls in between 6 and 8 pH. The results match the behavior of enzymatic activity discussed by past experiments measuring pH effects on pyruvate kinase and xanthine oxidase (Bailey et al., 1968)( Stirpe della Corte, 1968). In order to better the experiment in the future, more data collection is necessary, especially above the pH of 9. An additional question to be considered would be: how could data collection be more reliable in future experiments? ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Just about everyone learns of the tragedy in school and how it was a complete accident. Information has been found that point to the tragedy not being what we think it is. There is evidence that shows that the ship thought to be the Titanic may actually be named the Olympic, and may have been used in an insurance scam. This evidence includes pictures showing different amounts of port holes and even people working on the ship coming forward. It has yet to be proven if this is 100% true, but most would agree that all of this points to it being true. Everyone knows the story of the Titanic. The ship was on its maiden voyage when it hit an iceberg and sank, leading to the death of more than 1,500 people ( Titanic A+E Networks). There is a direct correlation between communication and profitability. At the plant communication was poor and management did not fully explain the business conditions to their employees to make them aware of what was going on. How Did The Seven Years War Affect Canada Before everything for Canada was all great, many things were destroyed during events but later on was able to be fixed and allow Canada to be stable just like how it is stated by Sir John A Macdonald who said, I am a Canadian, free to speak without fear, free to worship my own way, free to stand for what i think right, free to oppose to what i believe wrong, or free to choose who shall govern my country. This heritage of freedom i pledge to uphold myself . This quote connects very well as though Canadahad an unstable history, it ended to be able to be everything the quote stated. However, in order to achieve this, many events occurred; such as the Spanish Succession war, the Seven years war, as well as Loyalists that started settling in Upper Canada, and the Act of Union. The Spanish Succession took place in 1713 allowing Britain to take over Acadia. Soon after in 1763, the Seven years war took place and had allowed the British to gain more control over more land known as North America. • 22. Ice to the Eskimos Spolestra articulates 19 principles or ground rules of jump start marketing, which are: 1.You ve got to want to clip on the wires and turn up the juice. In other words you and your team must be highly motivated to try new things to reposition your product. 2.Don t fool yourself into thinking you re somebody else accept the realistic limitations of your core product or service, and build from there. 3.Increase the frequency of purchases by your customers. No matter how poor your current product or service, you must have some customers or clients. One key strategic dimension that you should be thinking about is how to augment and reposition your product in order to sell more to this group. 4.Get the name and address of the end ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Copies were then given to the immediate customer who could then pass one along to his or her boss. 14.Run interference for your budding superstars. People who share a passion and a talent for jump start marketing are invaluable, and should be nurtured and encouraged within your organization. 15.Make it too good of a deal on purpose. This is a fundamental point. Spolestra maintains that you must find some way of repositioning or reformulating your product or service to make it something that your potential customers simply cannot refuse. With the New Jersey Nets, one of the ways they did this was to package a barbecue family dinner and drinks with the game. They managed their costs so that the dinner alone was a bargain for the ticket price, to say nothing of the game being thrown in as part of the deal. Tickets were sold by the thousands, the games were standing room only, and the franchise made lots of money. Again, we see this approach of de emphasizing the core product (the quality of the team), and augmenting and repositioning an enhanced product in its place. 16.Feel free to butt into other departments. Jump start marketing cannot be confined to the marketing or sales department alone. Because it involves (sometimes drastically) reformulating the product or service, it must cut across the various departments in the organization. The people who do this may run into problems, and this is where rule # 14 comes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When workers become increasingly dissatisfied with their present employment, they may seek to improve their workplace by forming a union instead of leaving the position (Fossum, 2012, p. 7). Fossum (2012) suggests that dissatisfaction alone does not mean that unionization will occur. The prominence of chocolate in the American lifestyle is anything but new; it is a go to gift for Valentines Day, Easter, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. and was recently named the top snack in a global survey (Wong). The evolution of the cacao plant into chocolate exhibits ongoing cultural and economic effects that cacao has and have had on Latin America and its import countries, from the use of cacao in ceremonies and rituals and for medicinal purposes, to colonial cacao plantations, and finally to present day mass production of chocolate and chocolate products. It is documented in the Badianus Manuscript that bathing with cacao flowers would relieve fatigue, chocolate drinks were drunk to relieve digestive discomforts, and cacao can cure infections when mixed with liquid from the silk cotton tree bark (Grivetti, Shapiro 68). Aside from culturally shaping the use of cacao, perhaps the Aztec s greatest contribution to the evolution of cacao was introducing the chocolate drink to Hernan CortГ©s, who then shared the recipe with the Spanish court, and with little sugar, the drink became a hit (Growing Cocoa). Today, chocolate is popularly associated with gifting. Big, well known chocolate processing and packaging companies like Hershey s mass produce heart shaped boxes of sampler chocolates and giant Hershey s Kisses just for Valentines day. • 32. The Mind Body Problem Kaylan Monice PHI 111 C.Brown Feb 2017 Mind Body Problem Per the theory, the mind is about mental processes, thought and consciousness. The body is about the physical aspects of the brain neurons and how the brain is structured. The mind body problem is about how these two interact. One of the biggest questions in psychology and philosophy concerns the mind/body problem: If they are distinct, then how do they interact? And which of the two is in charge? Many theories have been put forward to explain the relationship between what we call your mind, so defined as the conscious thinking you which experiences your thoughts or spiritual being and your brain, part of your body. However, the most common explanation concerns the question of whether the mind and body are separate entities or the same thing. While asking and recording my responses for this particular exercise a few came up with the choice number 4 which stated, Nonphysical things cannot casually interact with physical things when comparing it , your mind being able to interact with physical things in general was immediately shut down , that it was not possible, that you cannot casually interact , between the mind and the outside world at a whim, with out some kind of training to understanding the non physical things ... All his publications have a similarity in a certain style of his writing which makes his works of art such amazing books. Chapter 12 of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and The celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County , both written by Mark Twainhave many similarities in the form of figurative language, syntax, and diction. To start with, Mark Twain s figurative language helps make his story unique. He utilises a range of bizzare similes in both passages that make these stories stay true to the past and humorous. For example in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn Twain writes, ... cottonwood thick as harrow teeth . This would be considered as one of his similes that are very unusual since many readers might not know what a harrow even is but as you can infer, that in those times people in the book would have known what he was speaking about. This shows how his bizzare similes stick to the time period of his writing. To add, in the second publication the similes Twain had integrated made the story a little more humorous to read. Twain writes, He was a different dog, his underjaw d began to stick out like the fo castle of a steamboat,... (The celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County 6). This shows how his use of similes here was humorous since Twain made fun of a dog with a large underbite. Although, his use of similes is fantastic his use of symbolism was excellent also. ... This paper examines the relationship between prohibitionand violence using the historical data and behavior following previous U.S. drugand alcohol laws, regulations, and enforcement on indicators of violence, e.g. homicide rates, and government enforcement expenditures. The results show that an increase in enforcement of drug and alcohol prohibition laws have been positively associated with increases in the homicide rate. Furthermore, supplementary evidence suggests this strong positive correlation prohibition enforcement on violence and the overall crime rate. I. Introduction Is Prohibition actually successful in reducing recreational drug consumption and drug related violence? This is the question that will be analyzed in this paper. Drug enforcement officials frequently cite drug related violence as a reason that drugs must be eliminated from our society. A contrary belief is that the system of drug prohibition actually causes most of the violence. Just like with alcohol prohibition in the 1920s and the rise of organized crime, drug prohibition inspires a dangerous underground market that manifests itself with violent crime throughout the U.S. and, in fact, the ...
