was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.
President Franklin Roosevelt. President roosevelt gave this address the day after the bombing
of Pearl Harbor as he declared war on Japan. The Bombing happened early morning on December

alone, Japan had sent 30 included the six aircrafts previously mentioned. There was a separate
force of submarines tasked with sinking any american ships that were planning on trying to
escape the harbor. The top secret japanese fleet set sail on November 26th 1941, and by avoiding
shipping lanes, moved into position without being spotted.Shortly after 8:00 in the morning on
December 7th 1941. 181 planes arrived over the island of Oahu, targeting the military airfields
first. Before the U.S planes could get off the ground to defend the harbor. Hundreds of aircraft,
lined up in a row like sitting ducks, were damaged or destroyed. Next the Japanese unleashed
their fury against Battleship row hitting all seven ships at anchor there. As the first wave of planes

Immigration And Crime Essay
The economic theory of crime predicts that all else equal, individuals with lower outside options
commit more crimes than others. While immigrants are known to have lower levels of education,
lower wages, and higher unemployment rates than natives, previous studies have not found a
relationship between immigration and crime. Crime rates have been on a decline, even in areas
where there are large numbers of immigrant populations. Between the years 1990 and 2013, the
foreign born population grew from 7.9 percent to 13.5 percent in the U.S. Also during this time,
data from the Federal Bureau Investigation indicates that the violent crimehas decreased almost
50% in robbery, homicide, and assault. The property crime fell a little over 40% in motor... Show

This data has been similar for decades. The 2010 U.S Census shows incarceration rates for less
educated Hispanics men who make up the majority of the unauthorized population is significantly
lower than the incarceration rate among native born young men without high school diplomas. In
2010, less educated native born men age 18 39 had an incarceration rate of 10.7 percent more than
triple the 2.8 percent rate among foreign born Mexican men, and five times greater than the 1.7
percent rate among foreign born Salvadoran and Guatemalan men. (Walter Ewing, Ph.D., Daniel E.
MartГnez, Ph.D.) Data collected shows a positive correlation between immigrants and crime rates,
but not for violent crime rates due to illegal immigration. The crimes that were committed were
brought about from Hispanics and White segregation. Hispanics were not given jobs or give low
pay jobs with no benefits because of white segregation causing them to feel like they had to commit
violent crimes to support their selves and families. All in all, the results are the null hypothesis, that
immigration increases homicide rates in the U.S can be

Some cold calling places that are based online and they must call up to book a holiday they must
make that sale in a certain amount of time as it can charge more on the phone, and if you have
lost that sale you ve lost it and move onto the next customer. Telemarketing is good as Customers
check it all online see the hotels, see pictures and see good affordable deals that are on their
budgets. This will be good as it s not a waste of time coming into a store and doing it face to face,
but however some customers feel more comfortable and reliable. Also Sales staff find it easier to
sell face to face as you can see what sort of person they are and how much they are actually

tuition cost of USC all by myself.
And there are only 16% applicants of UCLA and USC were admitted in 2017, so I think UCLA

Acknowledging My Privilege By Beverly Daniel Tatum s...
Acknowledging my Privilege
I have always thought about myself as just a person. After taking this course, I think of myself as
a white person. To me, being colorblind and attempting to look at everyone as just a person, were
ways I avoided being racist. This course, taught by Dr. Bianca Williams, has enabled me to change
my views on racism and race to a move correct outlook. I now understand that it is my duty to be
able to acknowledge my race and other identities and the privileges that come with being a white,
middle class, heterosexual person. I used to think that interpersonal racism was the main
problem in the United States, but after this course realize that institutional racism is the
problem. This course, coupled with readings from Devon W. Carbado on his piece titled
Privilege , Beverly Daniel Tatum s article titled Talking about Race, Learning about Racism ,
Brittney Cooper s article on The Politics of Black Women s Hair and Audre Lorde s article called
The Uses of Anger: Women Responding to Racism , I have shifted my views on race and racism
to a more constructive and correct outlook. Being a woman was always the largest piece of my
identity. I focused my attention the oppression that comes with identifying as a woman. I resisted
against the ideals of patriarchy and spent time in college starting a club that promoted and
supported women in business fields. However, I never stopped to think about the intersection of my
identities and how my other identities

The All Purpose Isotope Essay
Terbium: The All purpose Isotope
John Patrick Lopez
Santa Fe College
Abstract
This paper will run through the potential and numerous clinical uses of terbium in nuclear
medicine. Terbium is a rare metal and is still under clinical trials in Europe and is the only
element in the periodic table with four clinically relevant radioisotopes with remarkable nuclear
decay characteristics and could possibly be used in a vast array of nuclear medicine procedures,
including diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The four forms of terbium under clinical trials
are 149Tb, 152Tb, 155Tb, and 161Tb. 149Tb is being clinically tested as an alpha particle emitting
radionuclide for alpha immunotherapy. Due to it s relatively short half life of 4.1 hours and low
energy emittance of alpha particles, make it principally well suited for application in unification
with small molecular weight targeting agents, including peptides, which are quickly vacated
from the body. 152Tb with a half like of 17.5 hours emits positrons perfect for postitron emission
tomography imaging. 155Tb emits gamma rays and has a half life of 5.32 days with relatively
low energies of 86.55 and 105.3 keV respectively, it is being tested for diagnostic purposes for
positron emission tomography and single photon emission computed tomography cameras. 161Tb
produces beta minus particles and is being tested for therapeutic purposes while showing great
promise with tumor visualization and remission. The

Panama Canal Expansion
Texas and other Gulf states may not be ready when their ship comes in.
A massive expansion of the Panama Canal is on track to be completed in about two years,
making it possible for huge ships often carrying goods from Asia to bypass their usual stops in
the Los Angeles/Long Beach area and instead sail directly to Texas and other states along the Gulf
of Mexico, as well as the East Coast. From there, the freight could be put on trains and trucks and
shipped across the country potentially generating billions of dollars and creating thousands of jobs
not only on the coasts but also in major inland hubs such as Dallas Fort Worth.
But Texas and other Gulf states are woefully unprepared to handle the goods brought to the area on
enormous ships ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The canal, which the U.S. handed over to Panama in 1999, can handle ships up to 106 feet wide,
965 feet long and 39 feet deep but after expansion will be able to handle ships up to 161 feet wide,
1,200 feet long and 49 feet deep. Some of those larger ships can carry nearly triple the cargo of the
ships going through the canal today.
But will any of those boats stop in the Gulf, or will they simply go to the East Coast or elsewhere
in the Atlantic Ocean? The U.S. lacks deep water ports on its southern shores, with limited options
between Los Angeles and Norfolk, Va., officials said.
In many instances, those ports can use federal funds or raise their own dollars through debt to make
the necessary improvements.
As for highways and rail lines, there are scant resources for new projects. But existing dollars,
including funding from state and federal motor fuels taxes, could be steered toward projects that
benefit freight movement.
Texas response
The Texas Transportation Department, for example, is creating a canal stakeholder working group
to give input in the state s planning for roads, rail and other parts of the grid. The working group
includes BNSF, the Texas Farm Bureau, Texas Motor Transportation Association and Texas

Captain Ahab Dialectical Journal
The next day, the Pequod kills 4 whales and 1 of them was killed by Captain Ahab. Ahab is
mesmerized by one dead whale that is sunbathing in the sun. He believes that whales react to the
sun the same way humans react to the sun. The 4 whales that were killed that day were very much
far apart from each other. They were able to get three of the whales killed the same day but had to
wait until the next day for the fourth whalethat was killed. Every day when Ahab would get out of
his cabin, he would calculate the latitude of the ship based on the sun. The instrument he used to
find the latitude of the ship was called the quadrant. Ahab orders for the ship to turn around because

Ishmael explains that typhoons can come out of nowhere while sailing at sea. Many different type
of signs occur that night when the typhoon occurred. Initially, the main idea whalers would do
during a storm was that they would set up lightning rods but Ahab believes that a typhoon is a
sign that Moby Dick is near saying that the white flame is the way to the white whale. Starbuck
sees on the ship that Ahab s harpoon blade starts to ablaze. Starbuck believes that this little sign
is a sign of God presenting the consequences of hunting down a creature like Moby Dick. The
resilience of Starbuck continues with Ahab when Starbuck thinks that the crew should take down
one of the main sails but Ahab thinks that it should stay there. This causes disbelief among
Starbuck and cannot believe that Ahab would do this, this leads to a strained relationship among
the two. Stubb and Flask believe that Ahab is a little crazy and is putting the whole crew in
danger. After a long rocky night on the ship, the worst parts of the typhoon is now over. Because
of this the crew is relieved and even singing song of happiness and joy. Starbuck discovers below
the cabin a rack of muskets

There are three types of exchange rates. They are:

FIXED EXCHANGE RATE REGIME
Central bank of any country takes decision on which type of exchange rate to use in their country.
When central bank takes decision that not to change value of their currency with respect to foreign
currency then it is termed as fixed rate. Different variants are available in fixed rate as,
1)Adjustable peg
2)Crawling peg
When capital account of any country becomes negative that means more foreign currency is getting
out of domestic country. This process increase price of domestic currency against foreign currency
which puts pressure on the domestic currency to get depreciates. Since the exchange ... Show more

One of the greatest example when a country moved towards managed exchange rate regime is
France after World War I. France had the stable currency, Franc since 1803 but during the war
there was huge emission of notes due to which the price level shoot up. In 1924, the country was
nearing defaults when the government intervened and took many measures to stabilize the
currency. It cut down expenditures, increased taxes, increased capital inflows. A new ceiling was
introduced on money in circulation which resulted in ceasing of treasury bonds. All of these
measures led to accumulation of foreign reserves and thus the value of Franc increased in the
world market and the currency reached to 80% of its pre war

Tim O’Brien s Going After Cacciato Essay
Going After Cacciato, an epic novel written by Tim O Brien, is about a platoon of men going
away without leave (AWOL) searching for a young man named Cacciato in the imagination of a
man of the platoon named Paul Berlin. In Going After Cacciato the tea party, between the AWOL
platoon and Li Van Hgoc contributes greatly to the novel by adding to the confusion and teaching
the reader how to deal with the war and the noise.
The first thing that this tea party does is that it introduces the reader to Li Van Hgoc. The response
of Paul Berlin to Li Van Hgoc and his party was a fallingfeeling, a slipping, and . . . being high in
the tower by the sea. This sets the novel as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through meeting Li Van Hgoc the reader learns the true enemy in the novel. According to Li Van
Hgoc, The land is your true enemy. He mentions that the soldier is the representative of the land
and the land is also fighting a battle. Through listening to Li Van Hgoc at the tea party the platoon
realizes the land actually is the enemy and notices the natural defenses: the tunnels, dangerous trails,
the land mines, the hedges and paddies, and the jungle itself. The platoon thought that their enemy
were the Vietcong, but they began to come to the realization that the Vietcong used the land; what
they were protecting, why they were fighting, how they were fighting, to destroy foreign troops sent
there. Li Van Hgoc telling the platoon of Xa, meaning community, soil, home, that a man s spirit is
in the land, where his ancestors rest and where the rice grows, helped show that the land was the
true enemy.
Also through Li Van Hgoc the reader learns one of the most important lessons of the novel, to Look
closer. Concentrate. Going After Cacciato is a confusing mess filled with noise in the background,
foreground, and whatever middle ground there may be. The reader of this novel must read between
the lines to understand. They must Look closer.

time I will use for rest, the amount of time I will use doing home tasks and the time I will use for

The Second Sex Simone De Beauvoir Analysis
Revolutionary and thought provoking, Simone De Beauvoir s The Second Sex is a novel that
challenged the subordination of women brought upon by men and illustrated a feminist and
philosophical perspective on rights of women. Working alongside with Jean Paul Sartre, De
Beauvoir s work in The Second Sex underlies Sartre s concept of bad faith in relation to De
Beauvoir s concept of the battle of the sexes. Being confined by her own immanence in a male
dominated society, De Beauvoir illustrates that the feminine subject declares herself as their equal
in relation to the transcendence of the male for the struggle for recognition because it is affecting
her free will and responsibility (De Beauvoir 428). By recognizing the female, the male attempts to
find himself as a stable identity to transcend as the male figure through the devaluation of
femininity and the oppression of women. Lastly, De Beauvoir believes that the construct of
femininity is itself a product, as Sartre puts it, of bad faith because one is not born, but rather
becomes, a woman. Conceived by Jean Paul Sartre, the concept of bad faith underlies Simone De
Beauvoirs concept of the so called battle of the sexes. In order to explain how the concept of bad
faith relates to the concept of the battle of the sexes, one has to understand Sartrean philosophy.
According to Sartre, bad faith is an act of deceiving oneself by rejecting the notion of freedom and
one s facticity, even though human beings are

Good morning sir and fellow students. Significant events are pivotal in enriching ones
understanding of their identity, which leads to an understanding of where they belong in the
world. This is shown through our prescribed text The Simple Gift composed by Steven Herrick;
as well as Tim Winton s The Turning .| Steven Herrick s free verse novelexplores this value of
events that shape a persons identity and hence their sense of belonging in their world. The cause of
his alienation appears to be physical and psychological abuse from his father, lack of caring from
his school and his run down neglected neighbourhood with its deadbeat no hoper... downtrodden

Herrick induces us to feel empathy rather than antagonism to the protagonist. This is
accomplished through the intimate use of language, changing perspectives and personal
anecdotes. | Growth in maturity is shown as both Billy and Old Bill show signs of growth as
they help each other. Billy s growth is demonstrated as he becomes a different individual from
the beginning of the narrative poem showing positive thinking sure there s hope in the
world...even for hobos like us .| Herrick also represents this change through his use of natural
imagery and pathetic fallacy; exemplified in the poem Hobos like us , Sit in the sunshine . Old
Bill s view of the world slowly starts to change, as the protagonist reduces his consumption of
alcohol and ventures to move on with his life. This is done through Herrick s use of Motif
throughout the novel of Old Bills alcoholic nature.| While Old Bill demonstrates the symbolism of
A Simple Gift when he gave his keys to his old home to Caitlin and Billy symbolizing his final
pivotal moment enriching Billy s, Caitlin s and Old Bill s understanding of their identity, which
leads to their understanding of where they belong in the world. | Tim Winton s The Turning also
explores this value of events that shape a persons identity and hence their sense of belonging in
their world. The short story The Turning tells the narrative of Raelene, which reveals the notion

NBA contract, at 17, to being, as he put it, a triple OG . In other words, we have seen Kobe
essentially grow up in front of us. That is to say that Kobe has gone from rookie, to veteran
player to a well seasoned veteran the feels like a grandfather although the 37 yar old Bryant
knew all along that this would be his last season, is enjoying the role of elder statesman. Father
time has finally caught up with Kobe, 15 games into his unprecedented 20th NBA season (an
NBA record for the most seasons with one team), for this reason, in an eloquently written letter,
on the website The Players Tribune (co owned by Kobe Bryant and Derek Jeter) addressed to the
game of basketball, Bryant announced his retirement at the end of the 2015 16 season. http:/
/www.theplayerstribune.com/dear basketball/ Granted the retirement announcement did not
surprise many, in reality, Kobe Bryant, the highest paid player in the NBA s retirement occurred
on April 12, 2013, the 80th game of the year in the Lakers 118 116 win over the Golden State
Warriors on a night when the Black Mamba grounded by a ruptured his left Achilles tendon. To
say nothing of yet another career defining moment, on a torn Achilles, Kobe Bryant walked un
assisted to the charity stripe and knocked down two free throws, giving the Lakers a one game
lead over the Utah Jazz for the eight spot in the playoffs. By the same token, the fact

Six Sigma and Project Management
Six Sigma and Project Management
Project Management in Business and Technology, Section 02
Introduction
Sigma is a symbol for a unit of measure which measures how much a process deviates from
perfection. With the increase in demand for quality products/services, several organizations look for
ways to improve their performance to meet customer s expectations. Six Sigma is considered to be
an approach which blends the components of quality management and business process re
engineering. Six Sigma s aim is to increase the efficiency and remove waste, thereby increasing the
customer satisfaction. There are many myths about Six Sigma:
a) It s only concerned with reducing defects
b) It is a process for production
c) It can t be applied to engineering activities
d) It is just a training process
e) It is a new concept
History of Six Sigma
Since 1920 s the term sigma is used by mathematician s measurement unit in product quality
measurement. In mid 1980 s, engineers at Motorola Inc. coined the term Six Sigma which they
used it informally as an in house initiative to increase the quality for reducing the defects in the
production process. Initially the engineers measured the defects in terms of thousands which
gradually increased to defects per million . This prompted the use of Six Sigma technology and
idea of branding Six Sigma. A company is Six Sigma certified if it could limit its flaws up to 3.4
defects per million.
In 1991, Motorola introduced his first

Analysis Of The Book Picks Up Again
Below, the original transcript of the book picks up again; written with virtually zero knowledge of
A.I. technology. It shows the demonic involvement with The Mark of The Beast.
What if the Mark of the Beast was something super natural? Something directly linked to satanic
forces? A blend of technology wedded together with demonic possession? What if the delusion was
so great that The Antichrist and the False Prophet convinced the world by their signs and wonders
that humanity could become gods, and live forever simply by taking the Mark of the Beast? Are
there other clues that may suggest that The Antichrist will try to pull off the greatest deception of
all time? Notice:
Then the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star from heaven which had fallen to the earth; and the
key of the bottomless pit was given to him. 2 He opened the bottomless pit, and smoke went up
out of the pit, like the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by the
smoke of the pit. 3 Then out of the smoke came locusts upon the earth, and power was given them,
as the scorpions of the earth have power. 4 They were told not to hurt the grass of the earth, nor
any green thing, nor any tree, but only the men who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads.
5 And they were not permitted to kill anyone, but to torment for five months; and their torment was
like the torment of a scorpion when it stings a man. 6 And in those days men will seek death and
will not find it; they will long

Over The Garden Wall Mood Analysis
Setting the Mood: How Over the Garden Wall Mastered Mood In literature, there are several
concepts that are essential to good works. Without these key concepts, the work has no meaning.
Some of these concepts reign supreme over others, such as theme, narrative, and style, while
others play a background role in the story. One of the most important and often overlooked
background function of a piece of literary work is the mood of a piece. You can find mood in
several places, and there are countless examples throughout literature, but without knowing what it
is, mood can be a very difficult conceptto grasp or even notice in a piece. Mood is an essential
piece that every writer of any form of literature, whether it be written for the screen, the stage, or
in a novel, must seriously consider and stay true to in order for great work to be created. In
order to illustrate the importance of good mood setting, we will be taking a look at a personal
favorite of mine, the miniseries Over the Garden Wall, which manages to combine several
elements to create a near perfect example of mood. Before we can effectively examine a good
example of mood setting, we first must look deeper into what mood is in the context of literature.
Mood is defined as the literary element that evokes a certain feeling or emotionwithin the reader.
Mood can be conveyed in a novel through several different methods, including setting,
diction, theme, and tone. When we approach a visual medium, such as a

The Establishment Clause Analysis
While the first amendment endows several paramount freedoms, it can, at times, be onerous to
understand. Both the Free Exercise Clause and the Establishment Clause is imperative to our
freedom, the Supreme Court has historically argued various ways regarding these two clauses. Our
founders, such as Thomas Jefferson, saw the importance of creating a separation between church
and state. As such, no national religionwas to be declared, and still has not been. As such, there are
varying approaches to establishment. By examining the historical decisions regarding these clauses,
I have found that while it is crucial to separate the church and state, these two entities can still, in
some capacities, intermingle. In this specific context of the Missouri Scrap Tire Grant Program, it
is acceptable for Trinity Lutheran Church, and more specifically, their Learning Center, to receive
financial support in order to renovate their playground for safety reasons. There have been a
multitude of debates regarding the various approaches to establishment. For instance, a strict
separation approach declares that the state can indirectly support a religion establishment, but can
have no direct involvement. As... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

meditation or silent prayer at the beginning of each school day. Justice Stevens presented the
majority opinion, holding that this statute was also unconstitutional. Using the Lemon Test, it was
established that this particular statute had no secular purpose. The dissent, presented by Justice
Rehnquist, concluded that this was a mistaken interpretation of constitutional history and that the
Establishment Clause does not require the government to be strictly neutral between religion and
nonreligion. Upon evaluating the dissent, it can be seen that in some instances, it may be
permissible to have some overlap between the government and

The Negro And The Racial Mountain
Langston Hughes was an African American poet, social activist, novelist, and playwright. His
works are still studies, read, and, in terms of his poems and plays, performed. He is best known
for being a leader of the Harlem Renaissance. Within his works, he depicted black America in
manners that told the truth about the culture, music, and language of his people. Besides his
many notable poems, plays, and novels, Hughes also wrote essays such as The Negro Artist and
the Racial Mountain which Hughes gives insight into the minds of middle class and upper class
Negroes. Prior to reading this essay, I never heard of, nor did I know, Langston Hughes
composed essays, much less an essay that outwardly depicts aspects of life that most are
accustomed to and see nothing wrong with. The Negro and the Racial Mountain formulated this
view that Langston Hughes was more than a poet who wrote about jazz music as he is depicted
within grade school textbooks, but instead, a man who had a great passion for the African
American race to develop a love for themselves and for non African American audiences to begin to
understand how the African American race can be strong and creative despite struggles that may be
occur. There is a possibility that this essay, The Negro Artist and the Racial Mountain, is not more
commonly known because it has the ability to make the reader uncomfortable, no matter if he is an
African American or white. For the African American, one can find himself reflecting back

Do The Simpsons Follow the Conventions of a Typical...
A sitcom is a situation comedy. In a sitcom there is usually a nuclear family, which involves there
being a mum, dad, sister and a brother as the main focus. A normal stock plot for a sitcom is that
everything more often than not starts happily and ends pretty much the same. There are a few
minor hiccups in between that are easily worked out. They usually contain farce, satire, and puns
or slap stick comedy to amuse the audience. Sitcoms generally last about thirty minutes, for
example in My family and King of the Hill . Sitcoms have changed and modernized considerably to
fit in and relate to society today. For example the 1950 s sitcom Leave it to Beaver was about a

writing lines on a blackboard. These lines change each episode, making it topical and also
drawing people into the show, because they want to see what Bart is going to write. In this
particular episode he is writing, I will not sell land in Florida , a reference to the scandal
involving former president Bill Clinton selling land in Florida and is an example of one of the
jokes only adults may appreciate. He has almost finished writing and is looking rather grumpy
when we first see him, then the bell goes for him to leave and his face changes to a grin as he
races out of the classroom. He anticipates the bell, showing that this is a routine for him. The
music here has altered dramatically compared to the opening and is now more upbeat and almost
funny in its own right. The next character we are introduced to is Homer, the father, a large, over

Experiment 7 Isolation of the Major Component of Clove Oil
Pre Lab Questions: 1.) Briefly explain the concept of steam distillation. What is the difference
between a simple distillation and a steam distillation? When a mixture of two immiscible liquids
are distilled it is referred to as codistillation. This process is referred to as steam distillation when
one of the liquids is water. This distillation is used to separate organic liquids from natural products
and reaction mixtures in which the final product results in high boiling residues such as tars,
inorganic salts, and other relatively involatile components. It is useful in isolating volatile oils from

Buffy The Vampire Slayer Character Analysis
In the essay, I am using the television show Buffy the Vampire Slayer to argue that contrary to
common belief, happiness cannot be achieved through virtuous acts of power and honor. In Buffy
the Vampire Slayer, the titular character finds herself at the forefront of the fight against evil; this
is known to not be a personal choice but rather a prophecy indicating her as the chosen one .
Throughout the course of the show, the main character is caught in the struggle between good and
evil and never truly finds the happiness she believes she deserves. By examining the underlying
meanings in the television show, one might find that achieving happiness is more complex than
simply being a good and honorable person with a plethora of power. At... Show more content on

Having said that, power plays a major role in Buffy s struggle for happiness. At times, her power
is taken for granted, whether it be by her own actions or by those of her allies, and such an act
weighs heavily on Buffy. There are times throughout the series that Buffy questions her physical
ability and if she can truly trust her own strength. Just because Buffy embodies a powerful
warrior doesn t necessarily mean that she automatically is granted the happiness she is thought
to deserve. It is often the case that her power causes a strain on her personal life which results in
an extremely unhappy Buffy. So, while her power gives her the ability to do good and be an
honorable person, it also adds an unexpected problem in her life. In Beyond Good and Evil,
Nietzsche explains that the gaze of a slave is not well disposed towards the virtues of the
powerful; he possesses skepticism and mistrust...against everything good ...he would like to
persuade himself that even happiness is not genuine there (3). Buffy clearly resembles what
Nietzsche was saying by not trusting her power and being skeptical of its effect on her life. Buffy
the Vampire Slayer often portrays the dark side of what is commonly thought of as enviable. The
power that Buffy possess is shown to be another obstacle that keeps the character from truly being

Honduras And Its Impact On American Culture
Some people hear the country Honduras and immediately picture the incredible diving offered,
others feel pity and fear as they imagine the incredibly high rates of violent crimes. While both
perspectives are true, Honduras has a plethora of fascinating traits. Located in Central America,
Honduras major language spoken is Spanish, and the capital is Tegucigalpa. It also holds many
historical stories leading up to what it is today, incredible geography, culture, economics, and
fascinating relationships with other countries. To admire the country for what it is today,
understanding how it came to be is essential. Honduras was inhabited by indigenous tribes that
were each incredibly diverse in their culture and literature. The most powerful and advanced of
these were the Mayans, who also populated YucatГЎn, Belize, and the northeast of Guatemala and
built their sacred city and ceremonial metropolis in CopГЎn, in the western part of Honduras.
(Klaus Kästle) Then, on July 30, 1502, Christopher Columbus explored the country in search for
gold and silver, which led to Honduras living under Spanish control. This continued until 1821,
when Honduras declared independence from Spain, and became a federation of Central American
states. As a democratic republic, Juan Francisco de Molina took position as the first president.

Ezekiel s Prophetic Journey
I was young man and priest (Ezekiel 1:3) when I was taken captive to Babylon by King
Nebuchadnezzar in 597 BC along with approximately 10,000 other exiles (Hays, 2010, p.200).
While in exile, I was called upon by Yahweh (Ezekiel 1:3) and commissioned to serve as His
prophet, and speak to my fellow captives who were struggling and feeling hopeless (p.200). In
spite of the situation, however, Yahweh demonstrates His great power and glory through
miraculous and great visions in order to prepare me for my prophetic journey (Ezekiel 1:1 3:21).
My mission and message; to warn Israel and Judah of the broken covenant with Yahweh, and to
call them to repent of their egregious sins or face the dark days of judgment from Yahweh (Ezekiel

of the bow that is in the cloud on the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness all

who leads the young heroes into their quest to annihilate the Count, to Rupert Giles, the Watcher in

the younger protagonists of the genre. The differences in media of expression and the subsequent

The old man always appears when the hero is in a hopeless and desperate situation and needs

in Never kill a boy on the first date (1:5), super librarian . Defined through his knowledge of
books and his appetite for them, his strength is also typically his weakness, as his predicament in
Nightmares (1:10) shows. His anguished though characteristically understated call, I m having a
problem. I I can t read , points to his Achilles heel.
In the first three series of the show taking place in Sunnydale High, Giles s lair is the library. After
Buffy enrols in university, Giles s bachelor flat becomes the de facto library of the Scooby Gang.
His bookishness defines him and gives him his role among the cast of protagonists. In Primeval

mind. Giles is the brain of the group, Buffy the hand that strikes. Similarly, Van Helsing in

anyone in the world (Dracula, 111), and alter as Van Helsing, the great specialist (Dracula, 117).

produced more GRP (NIMH, n.d.). Scientists have also noted that different parts of the brain are
involved in the formation and extinction fear memories and that size and structure influence
how well these parts of the brain do their jobs. Since all of the above are dictated by a person s
genes, scientists theorize that there exist genetic quirks that make a person more or less
susceptible to PTSD (NIMH, n.d.). Though there are external factors that could be at play as
well head trauma, a good childhood versus a troubled one, the presence of a support system or
the lack thereof, etc. there is evidence supporting a genetic proclivity toward PTSD in the fact
that identical twins are more likely to both suffer from PTSD than fraternal twins (Oltmanns
Emery, 2012). This means there is a hope that examination of genetic and other factors may one
day lead to the ability to predict who will suffer from PTSD and who will not. One group of
researchers has already noted a correlation between lower IQ, depressive tendencies, and reactivity
and a higher tendency to exhibit post traumatic stress symptoms (Orr, Lasko, Macklin, Pineles,
Chang, Pitman, 2012). Though the study was rather

The Benefits Of College Tuitions In America
College tuitions in American is too expansive for the young adult who has the potential to be
successful in our community. Many people were not able to attend college due to financial issues.
College tuitions can go over $100,000 for a four year college. In result, they find part time jobs to
pay their tuitions and spend extra time in collegefor total of six through seven years instead of four
years to achieve their bachelor degree. In addition, many college students take loans and had to pay
over $30,000 of debtafter attending college (Lobosco). It s upsetting to see people especially
young adults to get accept to an excellent college but unable to afford it.
This has become a huge problem because we are speaking about the future of America. The
people who has the potential to do good for the country. One of them can even be our president
one day and help aid America. Everyone deserve an opportunity to become successful however it
cost a lot of money and it hold many people back to do so. In the article When Colleges Dangle
Money to Lure Students Who Ignored Them Ron Lieber talk about students get accepted into
colleges and unable to afford it unless college tuitions are low cost. Lieber is only speaking about
a liberal arts program which made a lot of student overwhelm by the cost of tuition. I could not

Substantive Due Process Claim Analysis
The Complaint Fails to Establish a Basis for Count II, a Substantive Due Process Claim
Shahmaleki failed to state a Substantive Due Process claim that arises to the level of shocking the
conscience. The substantive due process claims is subject to dismissal as such claims are reserved
for only the most egregious official conduct. As Circuit Judge David Ebel stated in affirming a
judgment in defendants favor on a substantive due process claim based upon the murder of a state
employee in a state facility, this claim requires a plaintiff to demonstrate that the State acted in a
manner that shock[s] the conscience. While Shahmaleki may have faced hardship from the
University s decision, that hardship does not rise to the level of conscience shocking. ... Show more

Equal Protection claims based upon national origin are subject to close judicial scrutiny and
generally such claims follow equal protection precedent concerning race. A plaintiff must show a
discriminatory intent or purpose for a violation of the Equal protection Clause. A plaintiff cannot
just allege a racially disproportionate impact, but must also allege a discriminatory purpose for that
impact. This requires both a showing that the Defendants treated the plaintiff differently from
others similar situated individuals and that such treatment was the result of intentional
discrimination. This standard is heightened when it is against a supervisor and requires a specific
intent to discriminate behind just being aware of the consequences of their action. Essentially, a
plaintiff must show that the supervisor engaged in the discriminatory action because of the other
person s race or national origin and not merely in spite of their race or

Reggae as a Means of Social Transformation Through The Voices of the Rastafari
Jamaica, the third largest Caribbean island is not only home to tropical weather and picturesque
landscapes, but also to social unrest and perhaps some of the most rebellious people. Since its
existence, this nation has seen a series of revolutions and riots in efforts to reverse the unjust social,
economic, and political conditions. The most influential of these revolutionary efforts contributed
to the formation of Jamaica s very own religious movement, Rastafarianism. With oppression
serving as one of the driving forces for the Rastafari Movement, it is understandable why its
followers are so adamant about professing their ideologies, beliefs and practices. The central
language used to express the grievances of Rastafarians is known globally as the music genre,
Reggae. It is not merely coincidental that the country pregnant with such radical motives also gave
birth to its own music brand. By examining the music of artists such as Bob Marley, Dennis
Brown, Luciano and more, we can deduce that Reggae music served and continues to serve as the
most prominent vehicle for the spread of Rastafarianism.
The Rastafari Movement emerged in Jamaica in the 1930s out of desires to defeat the crippling
British colonial culture and to establish an identity based on the reclamation of African heritage.

Analysis Of Lucozade And Visiting Hour
Recently I studied two poems with the same theme, Lucozade By Jackie Kay and Visiting Hour
By Norman McCaig. Both poets talk about death and by using a word set they create a mental
image of what is happening and this reminds me of times were I had to visit loved ones and how
emotional it was. The poem Lucozade was written by Jackie Kay, it is about a girl visiting her
mother in a hospital before she passes away. The poem talks about death but does so in a
humorous way, making jokes and poking fun at a traditional gifts given at hospitals did you
think you could cheer me up with a woman s own? An item given to hospital patients. The
mother believes they re making a big deal out this, because she does not want to come to the
realisation that he is dying. The daughter is scared her mother is going to die. She clears the
cupboard and waves her mother goodbye then walks home singing and old song. The poem
Visiting Hour was written by Norman McCaig, it is about a man visiting his mother in hospital.
This poem is a lot darker than the other and is not humorous, It uses a strong death related word
set to set a scene in the readers head. The man is fearful of what is happening to his mother, He
walks to her white cave of forgetfulness . He gets closer to her but never passing the distance of
pain. Distance shrinks until there is none left but the distance that neither she nor I can cross,
telling us in the end, we are all alone. The mother weak and exhausted smiles. On the first line of
Lucozade Jackie Kay tells us that the mother is not well and may be on medication by saying
high bed and sad Chrysanthemums . By using the word high bed we can presume the mother is
dying or on medication to stay alive, since high beds are found in hospitals and chrysanthemums
are a symbol of death and are given at funerals additionally the words die and sad are repeated
throughout the first stanza. We hear from the daughter that she is scared, Scared her mother will
die, this shows she cares for her. In the second stanza, the mother says she does not want Lucozade
to be brought to her. Lucozade is commonly brought to hospitals so her not wanting it tells us she
doesn t not want to face reality and is scared

Religious Beliefs in Aeschylus Oresteia, Homer’s Iliad,...
Religious Beliefs in Aeschylus Oresteia, Homer s Iliad, and Sophocles Electra
The final and definitive defeat of the Persian army at the battle of Plataea represented the end of
an age long threat to Athens. But the victory was also a miracle, as all the odds were against the
Athenians at the onset of the war. While Pericles took charge of Athens after the war and started the
advance of democracy, religion also thrived. The rebuilding of the Acropolis and the construction of
the Parthenon and its great statue of Athene under Pericles rule signified the height of religious
belief among Athenians. However, the shift in power from the aristocrats to the common men in
the new democracy, and the Peloponnesian War and Great Plague that... Show more content on

Something close to a Homeric view can be drawn from this, with the difference being that Gods
and Goddesses always take the form of a mortal when interacting with other mortals in Homer s
epic poems, but the form that they appeared in was not addressed in The Eumenides.
In the very same scene, after Orestes, Hermes, and Apollo have exited, the ghost of Clytaemestra
is seen trying to awaken the sleeping Furies so they can continue their pursuit of Orestes. The
appearance of ghosts is nothing new, as it has been done before in Homer s poems. What this
shows, however, is that Aeschylus, likely a representative of Athenians during his time, had the
same view that Homer did. In their eyes, not only do Gods and Goddesses walk among men, but
even ghosts, something that should be considered on the opposite side of the spectrum, also appear
in our world, as real as any men can be.
The second scene of The Eumenides begins with Orestes arrival at the Acropolis, as he takes a
suppliant posture at the feet of the statue of Athene (Aeschylus, 143). Athene is said to have
entered in full armor (Aeschylus, 148), answering Orestes call for justice, just as the Furies have
caught up with him. What follows is a full blown trial similar to those of the present days. At one
point, Athene re enters [the scene], guiding twelve citizens chosen as jurors and attended by a
herald (Aeschylus, 154). The trial then proceeds with

The Island by Athol Fugard
The Island (1973) Athol Fugard
A Quick Rundown of The Island
The Island is a Fugard play that resorts to the Classics to protest Apartheid.
It takes place in four scenes, opening with a lengthy mimed sequence in which John and Winston,
two cell mates in prison on Robben Island, carry out one of the totally pointless and exhausting
tasks designed by warders to break the spirit of political prisoners.
Winston has been sentenced to prison for life because he burned his passbook in front of a police
station.
John has been imprisoned for belonging to a banned organization.
The story traces the relationship of these two men. Winston is the active rebel,

The Cognitive Development Of Children

cognitive development is when a child develops how to process, solve problems, and start making
decisions. Once they have learned this they take everything they have learned into their
adolescence. An example, of what can shape the cognitive development of a child can be an
educational game. Educational games can be very useful in shaping a child s development because
they are having fun while learningat the same time and what kid doesn t like to playgames, the fact
that it is even educational makes it even better for them. Not only are they having fun but there are

on how digital tools are and have become an important tool when it comes to children s learning and

use of computers because it is a tool that is part of our culture. These tools are important because it
helps the children develop many different skills (Tran and Subrahmanyam, 2013). They mention
different pathways that help toward cognitive development. The first pathway is the amount of time
that they spend using the computers. Children shouldn t spend a long time using the computers
they should limit their use of computers for a certain amount of time per day. They mention how
kids that come from a low income family and struggle with reading get many beneficial in learning
from using the computers. It enhances their school readiness. The second pathway is the way kids

My Writing Skills Has Effectively Improved
I remember when I first came to the Wilkes University, one of my edifier (?) (Friend, teacher,

In the beginning of my classes I was very nervous about how to write an essay. However, I
believe my writing skills has effectively improved. To be honest, English 101 wasn t an easy class
for me in the beginning. College writingis entirely different from high school writing. I always
have trouble with grammar when I write English essays, and it s harder for me to learn and
improve my skills in a short amount of time.
I m a young woman who transferred from China to America and I m not that familiar with how
to utilize English compared to a young woman who s who is from the United States of America.
That has never stopped me from trying and I will never give up. I like challenges and difficult
tasks, it tests my will and helps to achieve the goal I have set for myself. During this sixteenth
week, my writing skill improved dramatically compared to the beginning of the semester. That may
not be noticeable to others, but to me the improvement in my writing skill is very evident.
This course has helped me to understand the difference between college and high school writing.
When I was a high school student, I was very confident about my writing skills. However, since I

Blue Girls By John Crowe Ransom
John Crowe Ransom s poem, Blue Girls, is one speaker s attempt at trying to help a group of
young school girls develop a more grown up view of themselves and the world around them.
Ransom attempts to portray the reality of the actions and attitude of its targeted group, the blue
girls, and attempts to enlighten them as to truth of the real world namely that their teenage hood
and general life is actually a short experience and that in which no one can prolong any portion of
it. By providing a depiction of a group of somewhat silly and irrational young girls, the speaker
attempts to show these same girls the hard truth they re not so different from their elders whom
they ridicule. This writer finds the identity of the speaker of the poem... Show more content on

Analysis Of Cornelia De Lange s Syndrome
Abstract
Cornelia de Lange is a syndrome defined as a genetic birth defect and effects 1 in every 10,000
births. A genetic mutation of gene has been identified as the cause although research and testing
continue. There is no cure and treatment is based on each individual s severity of the syndrome.
The classic signs are long eyelashes, eyebrows that meet in the middle, low ear placement, and
missing fingers or arms. A large amount of those diagnosed with Cornelia de Lange Syndromealso
have slowed physical and cognitive development, with approximately 60% exhibiting self injurious
behavior. CORNELIA DE LANGE

that will be discussed later in this paper, this one feature along with the baby s small size has the
doctor concerned and is cause enough to recommend genetic testing for an exact diagnosis.
CORNELIA DE LANGE Diagnosis for Cornelia de Lange syndrome (CdLs) consists of genetic
testing, as well as findings made from physical and developmental observations. As with most
syndromes, CdLs has a range from mild to severe. There are classic signs like small size, long
eyelashes, eyebrows that meet in the middle, and missing fingers or arms. Other children are so
mildly affected, the condition goes unnoticed and undiagnosed. Many individuals diagnosed with
CdLs have a majority of physical, medical, and developmental disabilities. Once the diagnosis is
confirmed, a battery of tests will follow. With the results, a better picture of needed treatments,
education, and useful resources can be provided. Educating families and caregivers has been
shown to increase the quality of life for the individuals diagnosed with CdLs. Providing information

Ethics, sometimes known as philosophical ethics, ethical theory, moral theory, and moral philosophy

Consequently, distinguishing the philosophical beliefs of Socrates from those of Plato and
Xenophon is not easy and it must be remembered that what is attributed to Socrates might more
closely reflect the specific concerns of these thinkers.
The matter is complicated because the historical Socrates seems to have been notorious for asking
questions but not answering, claiming to lack wisdom concerning the subjects about which he
questioned others.
If anything in general can be said about the philosophical beliefs of Socrates, it is that he was
morally, intellectually, and politically at odds with many of his fellow Athenians. When he is on
trial for heresy and corrupting the minds of the youth of Athens, he uses his method of elenchos to
demonstrate to the jurors that their moral values are wrong headed. He tells them they are
concerned with their families, careers, and political responsibilities when they ought to be worried
about the welfare of their souls . Socrates assertion that the gods had singled him out as a divine
emissary seemed to provoke irritation, if not outright ridicule. Socrates also questioned the
Sophistic doctrine that arete (virtue) can be taught. He liked to observe that successful fathers (such
as the prominent military general Pericles)

Relationship Between Ownership And A Sense Of Self
Anywhere in the world, someone acquires something, whether it be money, a car, or even an idea.
We can own many intangible and tangible items in life, but how does ownership relate to a sense
and development of self? This question has been constantly answered for centuries through
intelligent people like Plato, Aristotle, and Jean Paul Sartre. However, the question has received
no agreeable answer. In the end, people will agree that there is a strong and positive relationship
between ownership and a sense of selfbecause the things you own will define and develop who
you are positively by exhibiting what you like, what you can and cannot do, and in the end,
characterizes you, as long as you use the things you own properly. Jean Paul Sartre argues that
intangible items such as skill and knowledge is something that we own and defines who we are,
since acquiring skill and knowledge makes us better in different aspects of life. He also argues
the tangible aspects of life that we own also defines us. By saying this, Sartre is agreeing that
when we own something such as knowledge, it will shape our sense of selfand identitysince it
makes us a better person when we use our own knowledge to benefit our own selves and others,
thus showing a strong and positive relationship between ownership and sense of self and identity.
Aristotle would also agree with both Jean Paul Sartre and the statement that the relationship
between ownership and sense of self is strong and positive

There was a separate force of submarines tasked with sinking any american ships that were planning on trying to escape the harbor. • 3. Immigration And Crime Essay The economic theory of crime predicts that all else equal, individuals with lower outside options commit more crimes than others. While immigrants are known to have lower levels of education, lower wages, and higher unemployment rates than natives, previous studies have not found a relationship between immigration and crime. Crime rates have been on a decline, even in areas where there are large numbers of immigrant populations. Between the years 1990 and 2013, the foreign born population grew from 7.9 percent to 13.5 percent in the U.S. Also during this time, data from the Federal Bureau Investigation indicates that the violent crimehas decreased almost 50% in robbery, homicide, and assault. The property crime fell a little over 40% in motor... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This data has been similar for decades. The 2010 U.S Census shows incarceration rates for less educated Hispanics men who make up the majority of the unauthorized population is significantly lower than the incarceration rate among native born young men without high school diplomas. In 2010, less educated native born men age 18 39 had an incarceration rate of 10.7 percent more than triple the 2.8 percent rate among foreign born Mexican men, and five times greater than the 1.7 percent rate among foreign born Salvadoran and Guatemalan men. (Walter Ewing, Ph.D., Daniel E. MartГnez, Ph.D.) Data collected shows a positive correlation between immigrants and crime rates, but not for violent crime rates due to illegal immigration. The crimes that were committed were brought about from Hispanics and White segregation. Hispanics were not given jobs or give low pay jobs with no benefits because of white segregation causing them to feel like they had to commit violent crimes to support their selves and families. All in all, the results are the null hypothesis, that immigration increases homicide rates in the U.S can be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Acknowledging My Privilege By Beverly Daniel Tatum s... Acknowledging my Privilege I have always thought about myself as just a person. After taking this course, I think of myself as a white person. To me, being colorblind and attempting to look at everyone as just a person, were ways I avoided being racist. This course, taught by Dr. Bianca Williams, has enabled me to change my views on racism and race to a move correct outlook. I now understand that it is my duty to be able to acknowledge my race and other identities and the privileges that come with being a white, middle class, heterosexual person. I used to think that interpersonal racism was the main problem in the United States, but after this course realize that institutional racism is the problem. This course, coupled with readings from Devon W. Carbado on his piece titled Privilege , Beverly Daniel Tatum s article titled Talking about Race, Learning about Racism , Brittney Cooper s article on The Politics of Black Women s Hair and Audre Lorde s article called The Uses of Anger: Women Responding to Racism , I have shifted my views on race and racism to a more constructive and correct outlook. Being a woman was always the largest piece of my identity. I focused my attention the oppression that comes with identifying as a woman. I resisted against the ideals of patriarchy and spent time in college starting a club that promoted and supported women in business fields. However, I never stopped to think about the intersection of my identities and how my other identities ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The All Purpose Isotope Essay Terbium: The All purpose Isotope John Patrick Lopez Santa Fe College Abstract This paper will run through the potential and numerous clinical uses of terbium in nuclear medicine. Terbium is a rare metal and is still under clinical trials in Europe and is the only element in the periodic table with four clinically relevant radioisotopes with remarkable nuclear decay characteristics and could possibly be used in a vast array of nuclear medicine procedures, including diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The four forms of terbium under clinical trials are 149Tb, 152Tb, 155Tb, and 161Tb. 149Tb is being clinically tested as an alpha particle emitting radionuclide for alpha immunotherapy. Due to it s relatively short half life of 4.1 hours and low energy emittance of alpha particles, make it principally well suited for application in unification with small molecular weight targeting agents, including peptides, which are quickly vacated from the body. 152Tb with a half like of 17.5 hours emits positrons perfect for postitron emission tomography imaging. 155Tb emits gamma rays and has a half life of 5.32 days with relatively low energies of 86.55 and 105.3 keV respectively, it is being tested for diagnostic purposes for positron emission tomography and single photon emission computed tomography cameras. 161Tb produces beta minus particles and is being tested for therapeutic purposes while showing great promise with tumor visualization and remission. • 9. Panama Canal Expansion Texas and other Gulf states may not be ready when their ship comes in. A massive expansion of the Panama Canal is on track to be completed in about two years, making it possible for huge ships often carrying goods from Asia to bypass their usual stops in the Los Angeles/Long Beach area and instead sail directly to Texas and other states along the Gulf of Mexico, as well as the East Coast. From there, the freight could be put on trains and trucks and shipped across the country potentially generating billions of dollars and creating thousands of jobs not only on the coasts but also in major inland hubs such as Dallas Fort Worth. But Texas and other Gulf states are woefully unprepared to handle the goods brought to the area on enormous ships ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The canal, which the U.S. handed over to Panama in 1999, can handle ships up to 106 feet wide, 965 feet long and 39 feet deep but after expansion will be able to handle ships up to 161 feet wide, 1,200 feet long and 49 feet deep. Some of those larger ships can carry nearly triple the cargo of the ships going through the canal today. But will any of those boats stop in the Gulf, or will they simply go to the East Coast or elsewhere in the Atlantic Ocean? The U.S. lacks deep water ports on its southern shores, with limited options between Los Angeles and Norfolk, Va., officials said. In many instances, those ports can use federal funds or raise their own dollars through debt to make the necessary improvements. The Second Sex Simone De Beauvoir Analysis Revolutionary and thought provoking, Simone De Beauvoir s The Second Sex is a novel that challenged the subordination of women brought upon by men and illustrated a feminist and philosophical perspective on rights of women. Working alongside with Jean Paul Sartre, De Beauvoir s work in The Second Sex underlies Sartre s concept of bad faith in relation to De Beauvoir s concept of the battle of the sexes. Being confined by her own immanence in a male dominated society, De Beauvoir illustrates that the feminine subject declares herself as their equal in relation to the transcendence of the male for the struggle for recognition because it is affecting her free will and responsibility (De Beauvoir 428). By recognizing the female, the male attempts to find himself as a stable identity to transcend as the male figure through the devaluation of femininity and the oppression of women. Lastly, De Beauvoir believes that the construct of femininity is itself a product, as Sartre puts it, of bad faith because one is not born, but rather becomes, a woman. Conceived by Jean Paul Sartre, the concept of bad faith underlies Simone De Beauvoirs concept of the so called battle of the sexes. In order to explain how the concept of bad faith relates to the concept of the battle of the sexes, one has to understand Sartrean philosophy. According to Sartre, bad faith is an act of deceiving oneself by rejecting the notion of freedom and one s facticity, even though human beings are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Without these key concepts, the work has no meaning. Some of these concepts reign supreme over others, such as theme, narrative, and style, while others play a background role in the story. One of the most important and often overlooked background function of a piece of literary work is the mood of a piece. You can find mood in several places, and there are countless examples throughout literature, but without knowing what it is, mood can be a very difficult conceptto grasp or even notice in a piece. Mood is an essential piece that every writer of any form of literature, whether it be written for the screen, the stage, or in a novel, must seriously consider and stay true to in order for great work to be created. In order to illustrate the importance of good mood setting, we will be taking a look at a personal favorite of mine, the miniseries Over the Garden Wall, which manages to combine several elements to create a near perfect example of mood. Before we can effectively examine a good example of mood setting, we first must look deeper into what mood is in the context of literature. By examining the historical decisions regarding these clauses, I have found that while it is crucial to separate the church and state, these two entities can still, in some capacities, intermingle. In this specific context of the Missouri Scrap Tire Grant Program, it is acceptable for Trinity Lutheran Church, and more specifically, their Learning Center, to receive financial support in order to renovate their playground for safety reasons. Chaneil Hall Professor Edmondson Independent Study: The Impact of Rastafari May 13, 2015 Reggae as a Means of Social Transformation Through The Voices of the Rastafari Jamaica, the third largest Caribbean island is not only home to tropical weather and picturesque landscapes, but also to social unrest and perhaps some of the most rebellious people. Since its existence, this nation has seen a series of revolutions and riots in efforts to reverse the unjust social, economic, and political conditions. The most influential of these revolutionary efforts contributed to the formation of Jamaica s very own religious movement, Rastafarianism. With oppression serving as one of the driving forces for the Rastafari Movement, it is understandable why its followers are so adamant about professing their ideologies, beliefs and practices. The central language used to express the grievances of Rastafarians is known globally as the music genre, Reggae. It is not merely coincidental that the country pregnant with such radical motives also gave birth to its own music brand. By examining the music of artists such as Bob Marley, Dennis Brown, Luciano and more, we can deduce that Reggae music served and continues to serve as the most prominent vehicle for the spread of Rastafarianism. The Rastafari Movement emerged in Jamaica in the 1930s out of desires to defeat the crippling British colonial culture and to establish an identity based on the reclamation of African heritage. • 44. Analysis Of Lucozade And Visiting Hour Recently I studied two poems with the same theme, Lucozade By Jackie Kay and Visiting Hour By Norman McCaig. Both poets talk about death and by using a word set they create a mental image of what is happening and this reminds me of times were I had to visit loved ones and how emotional it was. The poem Lucozade was written by Jackie Kay, it is about a girl visiting her mother in a hospital before she passes away. The poem talks about death but does so in a humorous way, making jokes and poking fun at a traditional gifts given at hospitals did you think you could cheer me up with a woman s own? An item given to hospital patients. The mother believes they re making a big deal out this, because she does not want to come to the realisation that he is dying. The daughter is scared her mother is going to die. She clears the cupboard and waves her mother goodbye then walks home singing and old song. The poem Visiting Hour was written by Norman McCaig, it is about a man visiting his mother in hospital. This poem is a lot darker than the other and is not humorous, It uses a strong death related word set to set a scene in the readers head. The man is fearful of what is happening to his mother, He walks to her white cave of forgetfulness . He gets closer to her but never passing the distance of pain. Distance shrinks until there is none left but the distance that neither she nor I can cross, telling us in the end, we are all alone. The mother weak and exhausted smiles. On the first line of Lucozade Jackie Kay tells us that the mother is not well and may be on medication by saying high bed and sad Chrysanthemums . By using the word high bed we can presume the mother is dying or on medication to stay alive, since high beds are found in hospitals and chrysanthemums are a symbol of death and are given at funerals additionally the words die and sad are repeated throughout the first stanza. We hear from the daughter that she is scared, Scared her mother will die, this shows she cares for her. In the second stanza, the mother says she does not want Lucozade to be brought to her. Lucozade is commonly brought to hospitals so her not wanting it tells us she doesn t not want to face reality and is scared ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But the victory was also a miracle, as all the odds were against the Athenians at the onset of the war. While Pericles took charge of Athens after the war and started the advance of democracy, religion also thrived. Something close to a Homeric view can be drawn from this, with the difference being that Gods and Goddesses always take the form of a mortal when interacting with other mortals in Homer s epic poems, but the form that they appeared in was not addressed in The Eumenides. In the very same scene, after Orestes, Hermes, and Apollo have exited, the ghost of Clytaemestra is seen trying to awaken the sleeping Furies so they can continue their pursuit of Orestes. The appearance of ghosts is nothing new, as it has been done before in Homer s poems. What this shows, however, is that Aeschylus, likely a representative of Athenians during his time, had the same view that Homer did. In their eyes, not only do Gods and Goddesses walk among men, but even ghosts, something that should be considered on the opposite side of the spectrum, also appear in our world, as real as any men can be. Consequently, distinguishing the philosophical beliefs of Socrates from those of Plato and Xenophon is not easy and it must be remembered that what is attributed to Socrates might more closely reflect the specific concerns of these thinkers. The matter is complicated because the historical Socrates seems to have been notorious for asking questions but not answering, claiming to lack wisdom concerning the subjects about which he questioned others. If anything in general can be said about the philosophical beliefs of Socrates, it is that he was morally, intellectually, and politically at odds with many of his fellow Athenians. When he is on trial for heresy and corrupting the minds of the youth of Athens, he uses his method of elenchos to demonstrate to the jurors that their moral values are wrong headed. He tells them they are concerned with their families, careers, and political responsibilities when they ought to be worried about the welfare of their souls . Socrates assertion that the gods had singled him out as a divine emissary seemed to provoke irritation, if not outright ridicule. This question has been constantly answered for centuries through intelligent people like Plato, Aristotle, and Jean Paul Sartre. However, the question has received no agreeable answer. In the end, people will agree that there is a strong and positive relationship between ownership and a sense of selfbecause the things you own will define and develop who you are positively by exhibiting what you like, what you can and cannot do, and in the end, characterizes you, as long as you use the things you own properly. Jean Paul Sartre argues that intangible items such as skill and knowledge is something that we own and defines who we are, since acquiring skill and knowledge makes us better in different aspects of life. By saying this, Sartre is agreeing that when we own something such as knowledge, it will shape our sense of selfand identitysince it makes us a better person when we use our own knowledge to benefit our own selves and others, thus showing a strong and positive relationship between ownership and sense of self and identity. Aristotle would also agree with both Jean Paul Sartre and the statement that the relationship between ownership and sense of self is strong and positive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
