Project Goals
What do we want to accomplish
1. Improve the preparedness of Nepal’s social protection system and the
capacity of existing social cash transfers (five SSA schemes) to be ready to
respond to shocks
2. Empower national partners in charge of social protection and disaster
management to respond more efficiently to natural hazards by mobilizing
the national social security system in federal Nepal
3. Help mobilize resources quickly and safely for cash relief to vulnerable
groups through the national SP system in case of emergency

Evidence generation
Immediate priorities
1. Review of existing DRR policies and
tools and links with social protection
2. Assessment of vulnerability and
guidelines for targeting protocols
3. Assess the readiness of existing SSAs to
respond to emergencies, including
testing registries and delivery
mechanisms
4. Support for financial mechanism to
transfer funds for disaster response

  • 7. Project Goals What do we want to accomplish 1. Improve the preparedness of Nepal’s social protection system and the capacity of existing social cash transfers (five SSA schemes) to be ready to respond to shocks 2. Empower national partners in charge of social protection and disaster management to respond more efficiently to natural hazards by mobilizing the national social security system in federal Nepal 3. Help mobilize resources quickly and safely for cash relief to vulnerable groups through the national SP system in case of emergency Shock-responsive social protection in Nepal – UNICEF for every child
  • 8. Evidence generation Immediate priorities 1. Review of existing DRR policies and tools and links with social protection 2. Assessment of vulnerability and guidelines for targeting protocols 3. Assess the readiness of existing SSAs to respond to emergencies, including testing registries and delivery mechanisms 4.
