The document outlines the key steps in the ship building process, including design, steel cutting, block assembly, painting, block erection, launching, and sea trials. It first defines important ship parts like the bow, stern, keel, and rigging. The main steps are designing the hull, outfitting, and machinery; cutting steel plates using plasma or hydraulic presses; welding plates into blocks; painting the blocks; erecting blocks according to the design; launching via slipway, float out, or lift; and conducting sea trials to test performance.
Launching is one of the most important activities in a shipyard. Its critical to safely launch the vessel as unsafe launching may lead to unsolicited damage to the ship's hull. This presnetation describes various methods used by shipyards to launch a ship once it's ready.
Oil and Liquefied Gas Tanker Operations is a comprehensive separately bookable course designed to provide participants with a technical perspective of shipping operations. The 4 day course will cover technical designs and features of tankers, operational execution based on charterparty terms, port, cargo and ballasting operations, tank cleaning, safety assessment and procedures, all broken down and discussed in detail. In addition, tanker owners, managers, operators and charterers will learn how to best minimize any operational claims and disputes due to accidents either out at sea or berthing at ports.

An Offshore supply vessel is a multi-task vessel and has to be designed for many different purposes. This is contrary to most other ships used worldwide. In general, the geographical location where the offshore activity takes place is an important indicator of the choice of supply vessel.
Factors like weather conditions, the amount of equipment needed and the distance from the shore are important for what properties the vessel should have. The deep-water oilfield market is becoming more important as the conventional oilfield market in shallow water cannot meet the energy requirements from the consuming market. The Offshore Supply Vessels (hereafter it is called OSVs) market is becoming booming and the demand for OSVs has never reached the extent like today in previous periods.
In this project, an offshore supply vessel will be designed according to ABS Rules.
Hyperbaric welding is the process in which a chamber is sealed around the structure to be welded and is filled with a gas ( He and Oxygen) at the prevailing pressure.

Courier management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
It is now-a-days very important for the people to send or receive articles like imported furniture, electronic items, gifts, business goods and the like. People depend vastly on different transport systems which mostly use the manual way of receiving and delivering the articles. There is no way to track the articles till they are received and there is no way to let the customer know what happened in transit, once he booked some articles. In such a situation, we need a system which completely computerizes the cargo activities including time to time tracking of the articles sent. This need is fulfilled by Courier Management System software which is online software for the cargo management people that enables them to receive the goods from a source and send them to a required destination and track their status from time to time.

Anchor: A large hook attached to the ship which is cast overboard and
digs into the sea bed to keep the ship from moving.
Bow: The front portion of ship.
Stern: The back portion of ship.
Keel: The timber at the very bottom of the hull that runs from the bow to
the stern, often called the ship’s “backbone.”
Port: When facing the bow, the left side of the ship.
Starboard: When facing the bow, the right side of the ship.
Rudder: A blade attached under the stern used for steering.

3. SHIP BUILDING PROCESS
A.HULL SHOP:
a. DESIGN: Design is mainly three ways
1. Basic design
2. Hull design
3. Outfit design
Basic design:
A basis modeling which taking a carrying capacity and speed.
A performance assessment to a computer simulation.
Hull design:
The design are firm to the iron board of the at least to the maximum
and to develop fast speed.
Many simulations about the body of ship structure and
computation need.
Design of the total hull or body of ship.
Outfitting design:
Machinery and tools of the boiler room conduit installtask.
Install the cabin interior, the Electrical wire and pipe linings
inside the ship.
4. b. STEEL CUTTING:
The work that the steel place is automatically cut based upon
production design in information.
Steel cutting processed by different machines.
1. Plasma arc cutting machine: It is a CNC type machine
which usually cut the steel in different shapes after the
series of programme of instructions is fed directly into
computer without help of any man. In this process ,an inert
gas becomes heated up extremely and blown at high speed
out of a nozzle, at the same time an electrical arc is formed
through that gas from the nozzle to the surface being cut,
turning some of that gas to plasma. the plasma is
sufficiently hot to melt the metal being cut and moves
sufficiently fast to blow molten metal away from cut.

8. B. Pre-Fabrication:
The cut plates and sections are initially welded together based on
drawing so as to convert them into pre fabricated units ( also called as
blocks) these blocks are then forward to erection department where
actual and complete welding of them takes place and structure of ship
starts to form.
c. Block Assembly:
The cut plates and sections are initially welded together based on
drawing.
9. d. Painting:
When all the cut plates are welded together as the blocks required. Then
these blocks are painted initially to free from the rust. The painting is
done twice after the surface preparation we call them as internal and
external painting. It is tested by high pressure steam cleaning.
10. C.ERECTION:
e. Block Erection:
The blocks which are joined with minute welding process are brought
together as per their code mentioned in the drawing. The blocks are
assembled according to design of the particular ship.
11. f. Launching and outfitting:
`There are three different methods of launching:
1. Slip way launching:
The ship launching slipway, a structure consisting of a
sloping way down to the water from the shipyard, is an
essential aspect of ship launching.
2. Float out launching:
The floating out type launching is carrying out ships which
are built in dry docks and are launched by filling the dock
by water. This floating type launching system is simple,
effective and safe procedure
12. 3. Lift on launching:
The assembled ship is lifted by using a crane support from
the dry dock. This method is used for smaller size ships
cannot used for large, high tonnage ships.
OUTFITTING:
Each mechanic part assembles & pipe laying & electronic equipment
installing. Outfitting is started only after launching from the hull (dry
dock).Even before the hull block is made, the outfit components
(machinery, piping, seating…,etc..,) which are supposed to be located in
particular small area in the ship are full assembled a small unit and
when the hull block is made, this unit is then directly installed at the
required position of the block. This process actually helps in reducing
the cycle time required to build the ship.
13. 3. SEA TRAIL AND DELIVERY:
Sea trail is the testing phase of a water craft (including boats, ships and
submarines). It also referred to as a “Shakedown cruise” by many naval
personnel. It is usually the last phase of construction and takes place on
open water, it can be last from a few hours to many days. Sea trails are
conducted to measure the performance of the ships like ship speed,
equipment, safety features. Successful sea trails subsequently leads to a
vessel’s certification for commissioning and acceptance by its owner.
