Sharing knowledge is important for organizations to stay competitive as intangible assets like ideas and information are increasingly driving global trade. Knowledge workers no longer remain with the same employer for life, so organizations need to capture what employees know before they leave. It is also in an individual's self-interest to share knowledge as doing so allows them to gain more knowledge in return. To be successful, organizations require collaboration, so knowledge sharing across teams and departments is crucial.
