SEO Keyword Research Checklist
Get a description of each audience group targeted by your client
Get a description of each product and service offered by your client
Get a list of direct competitors from your client
Get a list of potential keyword phrase targets from your client
Determine if geo-targeted keyword phrases are important
Get Google Analytics and Adwords login credentials from your client
Use Google Analytics to identify most visited content pages for keyword
ideas
Use Google Analytics to identify top search queries for potential targets
Sign up for your a keyword research tool (Google Adwords, SEM Rush, Word
Tracker)
Setup a keyword spreadsheet for your client
Use your research tool to analysis the client’s current website rankings
Log the top 10 terms for your client in the keyword spreadsheet
Conduct Google searches for the initial top 5-10 keyword phrases
For each phrase, analysis the top 5 listings using your keyword research tool
Look for relevant terms that have high search volumes and low
competitiveness
Make sure search volumes are 1000 searches or more per month
Helping You Master Adobe Business Catalyst

Make sure most terms have a competitiveness of .6 or less
Look for potential creative “honey holes” targeting competitor and brand phrases
Grab the top 10 terms for each competitor that meet the standards
Log the top 10 terms for each competitor in your keyword spreadsheet
Narrow down 2 to 3 ideal targets for each competitor in your spreadsheet
Select 10 keyword phrase to recommend to your client for targeting
