3. How are they formed?
• Compound sentence- Is made up of simple
sentences joined together with connectives.
• Simple sentence- It just gives one idea.
(sometimes can create tension/suspense).
• Complex sentence- Has at least one main idea
and at least one extra phrase or clause to give
more information about the main point.

4. Effects on the sentences
Compound sentence:
Compound sentences can sometimes exaggerate an
idea, depending on the situation given. They can link ideas
together to describe something in more detail.
Simple sentence:
It Creates a dramatic effect as well as emphasising
the sentence.
Complex sentence:
Provides the reader more information.

5. Examples…
• Simple sentence: I was late for work this morning.
• Compound sentence: Greg waited for the bus, and
it arrived on time.
• Complex sentence: Teddy went to the party after
she did her chores.

8. Rules of the game
• When somebody is feeding back their answer, you
are not allowed to tell them, shout out, or help them
with the answer. If you do however, a point will be
deducted from your team.
• If you fail to answer, the question will be passed on
to the opposite team and if they get it right, they
receive a point.
• You will have 5 seconds to answer. If longer, the ball
shall be passed to the other team.
