Describe Your Personality Essay
Writing an essay about describing one's own personality might seem like a straightforward task
at first glance, but in reality, it can be quite challenging. The difficulty lies in the complexity of
the topic itself. Describing one's personality requires introspection, self-awareness, and the ability
to articulate personal characteristics accurately and effectively.
Firstly, introspection isn't always easy. It demands deep reflection on one's own thoughts,
emotions, behaviors, and experiences. This process can be uncomfortable and even confronting
at times, as it involves delving into both positive and negative aspects of oneself.
Secondly, accurately representing one's personality requires a level of self-awareness that not
everyone possesses. It's often easier to identify traits in others than it is to recognize them in
ourselves. Moreover, there's a risk of bias or distortion, where individuals may either inflate or
downplay certain characteristics based on their own perceptions or societal expectations.
Additionally, conveying personal qualities in writing requires strong communication skills.
Finding the right words to express oneself authentically and compellingly can be a daunting task.
There's also the challenge of striking a balance between humility and self-confidence, avoiding
both excessive modesty and arrogance.
Moreover, writing about one's personality involves considering various aspects such as
temperament, values, beliefs, interests, strengths, weaknesses, and experiences. Synthesizing
these elements into a coherent narrative requires careful organization and planning.
In conclusion, while writing an essay on describing one's personality may seem straightforward,
it entails significant challenges related to introspection, self-awareness, communication skills,
and narrative coherence. However, with patience, reflection, and effort, it is possible to create a
meaningful and insightful portrayal of oneself.

Diction And Views In Herman Melville s Benito Cereno
It is a clichГ© known by many: Always trust your gut. In other words, listen to your
intuition as first impressions matter. This saying reigns true in many works of
literature, including Herman Melville s 1855 novel, Benito Cereno. Throughout the
first part of the story, the main character, Captain Delano, struggles with whether or
not to trust a newly encountered ship, the San Dominick, its inhabitants, or its
captain, Benito Cereno. While the novel is third person omniscient, it is clear that
Delano has his doubts about the foreign ship from the beginning due to the original
descriptionof the San Dominick. Melville writes in the third person omniscient
point of view in order to allow the audience to come to their own conclusions about
the ship, but also heavily utilizes diction and sentence structure to give readers
clues about what to expect from the characters and plot. To give the passage
context, Delano is finally seeing the San Dominick clearly for the first time, not yet
having met the passengers of the ship. Delano is alone and it can be assumed that
the description is his point of view, due to the fact that the anonymous narrator
appears to be pulling these images and renditions from Delano s mind. Because of
this, the reader is encouraged to think ahead about the ship s culture, its passengers,
and the types of things Delano will encounter if he decides to approach and explore
it. Throughout the passage, the author makes use of an overload of adjectives, all
Consumer Behavior And Consumer Behaviour
Introduction
A consumer is any person that is involved in the process of consumption. They are
identified according to the market type to which they belong, namely final and
industrial consumers (Solomon, et al., 2013). Understanding the consumer behaviors
will aid in appreciating the various market segments and developing strategies for
effecting market penetration in these segments. It will also help in identifying
market gaps and shape their needs and objectives so as to solve the day to day
consumer s concerns in purchase.
The single purpose of all production is consumption. The producer s interest should
only be attended to as far as it is necessary in promoting the needs of a consumer
(Smith, 1937 p. 125). Studies on consumer behavior began in the 1960s, and later
several consumer theories which focused on the consumer from various perspectives
were developed. Marketers use these theories to deveop marketing strategies based on
attitudes, interests and consumer perception.
Consumer behavior theories All major consumer theories can be grouped into four
categories, namely economic, psychological, psycho analytical, and socio cultural
theories. They are based on the simple law of conumption that consumption increases
as aggregate income increases, assuming the habits of spending are constant and
political and economic conditions are free and perfect (Solomon, et al., 2013).
Economic theories Economic theories on consumption are focused on how income is
allocated and how
The Mystery Of Mystery Stories
Mystery as a literary genre finds its roots in the writings of the 19th century. During
this century great writers of the literary fiction utilises their brilliance to lay the
foundations of various aspects of the mystery writing. Many fictional characters who
were born in the 19th century, are still the most famous personalities of today s
fiction. It s interesting to note that US President Abraham Lincoln also wrote a
mystery story in the 19th century, based on a real case once he defended(1).
Anton Chekhov (1860 1904) was a Russian physician, writer and playwright,
renowned for his short stories in fact , he is considered among the pioneers of the
short story .It may be surprising to many that he also wrote mystery stories early in
the career under a pseudo name Antosha Chekonte. His book of mystery stories A
Night in the Cemetery : And Other stories of Crime and Suspense contains more than
40 such stories(2).These stories may be the result of his experiences , when he
accompanied the local police on criminal investigation and performed autopsies as a
physician(3).
Emile Gaboriau (1832 1873) French writer, novelist and journalist, best known as the
father of roman policier (detective novel). Gaboriau created most popular fictional
sleuth of nineteenth century French fiction Monsieur Lecoq ,based on a real police

What Great Teachers Do Differently Analysis
Initial Summary:
During the first months of school, I noticed my students spend a great deal of time
off task, specifically talking out of turn. Students do not always raise their hands to
answer questions, start a conversation with a classmate, or interrupt the lesson to say
they do not understand a topic. I often have to spend several minutes a day asking
students to stop talking, reminding students to raise their hand and wait to be called
on, and spend a great deal of time waiting for my students to quiet down and refocus. I
have difficulty redirecting these students back to the current task quickly, to avoid
losing large amounts of instructional time and often these small disruptions become
increasingly more difficult to handle as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the article PRAISE for Students with Behavioral Challenges, Beth Akerman states
there are a plethora of reinforcements a teacher can use, such as eye contact,
detentions or a contingency contract, but effective teachers employ more positive
reinforcements than negative ones. By recognizing the positives rather than the
negatives, students are motivated to receive praise; thus, a safer, more engaging
classroom atmosphere resulted. This idea resonated with other sources as well. In
The 12 Touchstones of Good Teaching, Bryan Goodwin and Elisabeth Ross Hubbell
explain that often students causing the disruption are looking for attention, good or
bad and reprimanding them gives the attention they strive for. Goodwin and Hubbell

The United States Should Not Be A Country
Various individuals might say to the world, Let s achieve world peace, Let s end
world hunger, or various other suggestions, but the one thing I would like to say to
the world would be, Let s try to understand each other. By asking to try this question
no one is asking or demanding anyone to do something drastic or something they do
not want to do since it would not be in their best interest. Let s try to understand each
other is giving different country leaders and citizens the opportunity to sit down and
listen to one another without a commitment to act. Understanding one another might
deter conflicts, wars, as well as promote nations to come together to help one another
in a crisis or disaster.
The United States was established on a belief that democracy is the most efficient
way to run a country, while North Korea believes dictatorship is the proper way to
run a country. How can one country tell another country their ideology is wrong if
that country has never been governed in that manner? The United States government
might discuss ideologies and show examples of how Americans flourish under
democracy. The adverse is true; if North Korea discussed their ideologies with the
United States politicians might have a better understanding. I am of the opinion there
would be a slim chance both countries would try to understand the other. Never less,
if politicians listen to one another and keep an open mind, tensions might decrease
and open a door for much needed aid to the

Should Father s Receive Paid Paternity Leave
In this day in age we find ourselves wondering if is feasible for men to get paid
paternity leave, since women get paid maternity leave after they have their baby. You
have to really think about this though, because not all companies pay women to
take maternity leave. So why would we pay our men to take paternity leave when
not all women get paid when they have no choice but to take off after having a
baby. So I want you to ask yourself, Should father s get paid for paternity leave?
There are some good aspects to having the father take paternity leave. Say, companies
did offer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Having the father home will help with daycare cost when the mother goes back to
work. There are some potential downsides to men having paid paternity leave. Most
countries make parental leave open to both men and women; women take the vast
majority of leave. When leave is long, this can have some consequences for women
s place in the labor market. For example, in Sweden parents have the right to a
parental leave for up to 18 months, but women take nearly 85% of parental leave.
The major goal of Swedish policy these days is to encourage men to take more
parental leave; already there are two month daddy only leaves, which are lost to
the couple if the father doesn t take them. The problem with fathers taking
paternity leave is that the fathers are scared to take leave for the fear that they may
lose their jobs. Companies should offer paternity leave for expectant fathers. By
offering paternity leave for fathers to be companies allow fathers to be a benefit of
paid or unpaid time off work to care for their child, make arrangements for the child
s welfare, and preparation for the adoption of a child. Generally, offering paternity
leave for fathers allows them to benefit the birth of a child. Companies that provide
the option of paternity leave grant these fathers the privilege of being present for
labor, delivery, and any other emergency procedures that may be necessary. Paternity
leave provides the father with an advantage to be able to care for their
Narrative Essay On Franks
The scream could be heard from miles away. Giselle was walking home from work
when the most beautiful thing she had ever seen presented itself in front of her. It
sparkled on the floor, glistening in the sun. It s purple color made it pop out from
the plain gray sidewalk. Once Giselle spotted it, she couldn t help herself. She had
to let out all of the joy she felt inside by screaming as loud as she could. She plucked
the dazzling purpleglasses from the dangerous, scratchy ground and inspected them.
They were as clear as a freshly installed window. She wondered if she should try
them on, but figured it would be too risky. Her fur might stick to it, which would
take away some of it s beauty, and she could not bear to feel that guilt. Instead,...

Outside the Jacobsen Gallery which features the LIFT exhibition, are photos of a
sculpture called The Harp created by August Savage (a native of Green Cove Springs,
Florida) in 1939 for the New York World s Fair. Approximately 16 feet tall, Savage
s sculpture, titled The Harp, was strongly influenced by James Weldon Johnson s
song, Lift Ev ry Voice and Sing.
The personified instrument, using twelve African American youth singers in
various heights symbolized the strings of the harp. The hand of God formed the
sounding board, and the foot pedal was represented by a kneeling man holding
music. The sculpture was celebrated as one of Savage s major works; however,
with a lack of finances to cast it into bronze, the sculpture was destroyed at the end of
the Fair.
Despite the fact that The Harp does not exist in its final form, its legacy continues
through numerous photographs and souvenir reproductions. I was really impressed
with the sculpture and the history of its
Software Development Cost Analysis
FASB defines research as planned search or investigation to discover new
knowledge; it defines development as the translation of research findings into a plan
or design. Under US GAAP, both research and development costs are expensed as
incurred. While under IFRS (IAS 38), costs associated with the creation of intangible
assets are classified into researchphase costs and development phase costs. Costs in
the research phase are always expensed (PWC, pg. 6 7). However, IFRS has broad
based guidance that requires companies to capitalize development expenditures,
including internal costs, when certain criteria are met (KPMG). Further differences
might exist in such areas as software development costs, where US GAAP provides

6 8). For an asset to have alternative use, it must be reasonably expected (greater
than a 50% chance) that an entity will achieve economic benefit from such
alternative use and further development is not needed at the acquisition date to use
the asset (E Y, pg. 6 9).While under IFRS, acquired research and development
assets are capitalized if it is probable that they will have future economic benefits.
The price paid reflects expectations about the probability that the future economic
benefits of the asset will flow to the entity. The probability recognition criterion is
always assumed to be met for separately acquired intangible assets (E Y, pg. 6 9).
The starting point for companies applying IFRS is to differentiate between costs that
are related to research activities versus those related to development activities.
According to KPMG, while the definition of what constitutes research versus
development is very similar between IFRS and US GAAP, neither provides a bright
line on separating the two. Instead, a company needs to develop processes and
controls that allow it to make that distinction based on the nature of different
activities. To analyse the differences in accounting under IFRS and US GAAP, it can
be better understood with the example. The Boeing Company follows
Religious Institutions And Personal Devotions
In my initial position paper, I differentiated between faith, works, and religion, and
concluded that the academic study of religion is similar to the academic study of
other cultural identities, such as race and gender. What I failed to understand,
however, was how complex the boundary between religious institutions and personal
devotions really was. Popular religion, as I have come to learn, assumes qualities of
both public and private worship and belief and illustrates a far greater struggle than I
was able to detect. This struggle is that between the individual person, the
community, and the institution. Therefore, the anthropology of religion is a field
that seems to be characterized largely by studies of self, collective, and power, rather
than the more simplistic set, as I defined it originally, of self, other, and ritual. To
approach the field in this way, we will analyze Latin American popular religion. I
will first distinguish between the self and the collective, showing how the latter is a
collection of many individuals, but also in a dynamic relationship with the beliefs
of its members. This relates to the concept of power, as both parties involved exert
some degree of control over the other. Consequently, I will then address the power of
the institution and the relationship that it has over the worshippers. As such, I hope
the thesis that the anthropology of religion seems to be largely defined by
interactions of self, collective, and power will be
Faustus Critical Lens
As to whether Faustus is misled about or willfully self blinded to his situation, it is
difficult to argue either of these points from the text. Marlowe s text makes it

want and why. He knows precisely what he does want and why. He knows
precisely what his end objectives are and why.First, he is a distinguished scholar of
every academic field there was. He has come to a juncture where he is to choose
one field to devote his professorship to, to choose what to profess. He evaluates the

Water Essay
Water quality management in agricultural catchments, generally, appears to focus on
identifying and reducing nutrient losses from the root zone of intensive farming
activities. In recent years, reducing nutrient loss from root zone and minimizing the
impact on farming practices of freshwater bodies has taken centre stage in this
debate (Clothier et al., 2007). To fully understand management options of water this
study will explore the vicious cycle of how on the source, the mode of transportation

However, the amount of nitrate leached from the root is dependent on how it is
transported and transformed on the subsurface. According to Knowles (1982)
dentrification process of nitrates reduces/attenuate flow of nitrates from root zone to
water catchment (rivers and lakes). This finding were later supported by Rivett el.,
2008, where he argued that dentrification process minimizes nitrate influx from areas
of high concentration beneath the water table. This process is catalyst by chemical,
physical and biological feature. In addition nutrients and oxidation of carbon act as
catalyst to this process (Rivett et al., 2008). Research show that Current nitrogen
attenuation exertions in New Zealand are focused on recognizing the thorough farms
that percolate the major amounts of nitrogen from the root zone. The continuous
organization and moderation practices to minimize the root zone nitrogen percolation

ignores spatial disparities hydrogeological backgrounds that might increase or
decrease. They might also attenuate leading to a flux in nitrogen level since it moves
from the root region to water bodies and rivers. Nitrogen leached then adds to ground
water and influences movement and conversion of nitrogen in the underground
environment.
Leaching and cycling of nitrates in different profile of soil is well understood,

Adam By Louise Erdrich Analysis

with her adopted son Adam, who was born with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) and
her feelings on women who drink while pregnant. Adam came into Ms. Erdrich s life
when she met her future husband, Michael Dorris, whom had adopted Adamyears
before. Though, she never intended to be the mother of a child with physical and
mental disorders, she developed a special relationship with her son that came with
trials and errors, but also patience and love. It was through the trying times with
Adam that Ms. Erdrich resents his biological mother the most. His birth mother took

The simple fact is they shouldn t. These women place on their children the
hardships of physical and mental pain that will last their entire lives. They re
abilities to lead normal lives are taken from them and the probability that they will

either help women with alcoholism refrain from drinking while pregnant, or punish
those who just don t care when it comes to their unborn? Should society make laws
and imprison a woman for harming her unborn child, but who is to say while jailed
she won t drink. Alcohol and drugs pass through prisons easily in these days and if
desperate enough a pregnant woman could get her hands on alcohol. The thought of
sterilization, as another form of punishment does seem inhumane, though it would be
doubtful to help the woman with her alcoholism it does save an innocent life

The Importance of the Chief Information Officer Essay
The Chief Information Officer is also known by the title Information Technology
Director. According to the US Department of Labor, Chief Information Officers are
responsible for the overall technological direction of their organizations. (bls.gov).
Contained within their various functions the Chief Information Officer has the ability
to conduct the hiring of Information Technology professionals and other support

projects.

Not surprisingly, a majority of the time technical implementation is actually done by
junior officers since the Chief Information Officer is developing long term plans for
the enterprise.
Indeed, the Chief Information Officer brings added value to an organization in many
ways aside from holding senior administrative functions. Former Chief Information
Officer of NHS UK revealed in his article that Chief Information Officers have many
concerns aside from developing IT for an enterprise. A Chief Information Officer can
be burdened even by issues such as cost cutting, leadership, security issues, satisfying
customers, managing change and even organizational politics especially for
government agencies (McGinn, 2007). This just demonstrates exactly how
challenging the functions are for a Chief Information Officer. His/her accountability
goes beyond IT but provides support to the whole enterprise as well.
According to an article titled Current and Future Challenges: The Chief Information
Officer Mastering the Power of Information , Chief Information Officers do not only
manage IT resources and operations, they can also be an enabler of business change
(leadershipexpertise.com). Primarily, they enable such changes by improving
existing business processes and discovering ways to achieve leverage against
competitors. This would mean seeking solutions that would please customers and
employees as well.
Diversity Essay
Abraham Lincoln once said, The strongest bond of human sympathy outside the
family relation should be one uniting working people of all nations and tongues and
kindreds. For an organization to work well it has to have a diversity of people, good
communication with all the employees, and to be organized in a way that is effective
and efficient to function properly.
I currently work at the Turlock Junior High School (TJHS). It is an organization that
is composed of the administrative staff, teachers, classified staff and students. To be
able to function, each branch has diverse group of people working together to make
TJHS a better place for children to learn. TJHS has employees with different cultural

The staff helps the students get familiar with the school s process, schedule and what
is expected from each student.
Since each branch has different job tasks, communication is very essential among all
the branches. For example, if the administration staff does not inform the teachers
about a mandatory meeting, the teachers would not know about it and will not attend
the meeting. Therefore, the teachers will be reprimanded for not attending without
being at fault. And as well if the teacher does not inform the administrator staff about
a field trip, the administrator staff will panic when the students are not present in the
school.
The school must organize in a way that it can function properly. According to
Schermerhorn, J. Hunt, J. and Osborn, R. an organization must consider short term
and long term performance and it also requires a commitment to continuous and
lifelong learning from one s work and everyday experiences. And must also a motto
of belief in which the school is based upon. At TJHS the motto is take pride in what
you do. This motto is to be used by all the employees and the students.
Turlock Junior High School takes pride in having a diversity of staff and students,
providing communication among all, and being organized to be able function
accurately. Carl Rogers said If we value independence, if we are disturbed by the
growing conformity of knowledge, of values, of attitudes, which our present system
induces, then we may wish to set
One Man s Journey to Heaven in the Book Leaf by Niggle...
One Man s Journey to Heaven The story Leaf by Niggle by J.R.R. Tolkien is a
story of allegory, and with good use of metaphors shows what our religious journey
on earth to heaven could be. The story used allegory which is metaphors for the
characters and places used in the story. It start with a man named Niggle, who is
going on a trip, but wants to finish his painting before he goes. Once we read the
entire story it becomes clear that it is an allegorical story. The main character in
the story is Niggle. He is a painter; however he is not a successful painter. He is
very nervous and not sure about going on his journey. Niggle is very kind and
feels the need to help others, even when he feels it is annoying at the time. Niggle
lives in a country that has rules about needing to help each others neighbors, so
Niggle is forced by an inspector to help his neighbor Parish, even though he doesn t
care much for him. The metaphors used in Niggle s story of the people he meets
and where he goes, it is easy to see that the story represents a mans life of his path
to purgatory and death. The symbolism seems likely, especially to Catholics and
their belief in purgatory. In his idea of a painting, he sees a large tree with leaves and
mountains. He wants more than anything to paint what he sees; however, he is
continually bothered by his neighbor, a man named Parish. He procrastinated for his
journey by keeping himself very busy with his painting and helping his

Being Chinese Vietnamese American
Being Chinese Vietnamese American, I have always seen myself as being very
unique. In addition to celebrating the Western holidays such as Halloween,
Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year s, and Valentine s Day, my family celebrates our
mixture of Chinese and Vietnamese cultures with two other big holidays: Lunar New

differently, one thing is always consistent in most of these celebrations: the important
role of food.
When I was a toddler, my family visited Vietnam for the first time together. It was the
also the first time my mom returned since she got married and immigrated to the
United States. We arrived around the time of the Mid Autumn Festivalthat summer.
The humid streets swelled with clusters of vendors selling handmade paper lanterns,
small candles, vibrant colored toys, and a variety of cakes.
Mooncakes, or BГЎnh Trung Thu, is the Vietnamese name for the Chinese

to the festival s celebration in addition to lunar worship and moon watching, was
enjoying with family and friends an indispensable delicacy with sips of warm tea.
My aunt bought me a mooncake in the shape of a cute piglet. Being twice the size of
my hands combined, I happily cupped the clear plastic container tied together by a
small red ribbon. After anxiously skipping home with Mister Piggy (see Figure 2), I

Galton s On The Origin Of Species
The poster being critiqued uses a family tree theme to convey the theory of
heritability of intelligence. The theme logically fits the theory and, to some extent, is
memorable. However, there is arguably too much text for the poster to be understood
in a few minutes. The poster also includes information about environmental factors
that influence intelligence, potentially distracting the viewer from the main concept
of heritability. A solution to these critiques is to focus solely on the theory of
heritability, thus minimising text and preventing confusion.
The theory of heritability of intelligence was proposed by Francis Galton (1869) in
his book Hereditary Genius ; the first scientific study of ingenuity. Galton was
influenced by his cousin s (Charles Darwin, 1859) book On the Origin of Species
which portrays the thesis that animals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To tests this, he developed historiometry, defined as quantitative analysis of historical
data about representative people (Simonton, 1990). Following Adolphe Quetelet s
research, one of the first to use historiometry (Simonton, 1997), Galton obtained data
about imminent men from biographical sources which he compared in numerous
ways. His analyses concluded that the number of imminent relatives when comparing
first degree relatives to second degree and so forth, had an inverse relationship: the
more distant the relative of an imminent individual, the less likely they were
themselves to be imminent; Galton perceived this as evidence for heritability of
intelligence. This research has limitations however, including the use of retrospective
data and the difficulty in distinguishing nature and nurture. Galton, aware of these
limitations, sought to compare twins, overcoming these critiques. In his paper The
History of Twins (Galton, 1876) he concluded the evidence supported nature rather

The Great Depression and The Global Economy
Since the great depression, the global economy has been facing a number of ups and
downs. With the markets being built rapidly and crashing down in the other instant,
elements that actually make up the skeleton of the international economy seems to
have correlated variables. These variables seems to have been correlated with each
other in numerous combinations and their correlation is what makes the market
fluctuate. The volatility of the global market becomes more apparent in times of
recessionwhen the correlation between variables like stocks, bonds, US dollar,
Euro, gold and oil becomes more apparent. Therefore, it is of paramount importance
that these correlated variables should be studied with a very keen eye. Since the link
between currencies, commodities, stocks an bonds runs very deep, change in any one
of them seems to have a profound impact on the rest hence changing the face of the
market.
Background:
One way to describe the correlation between the major assets of the international trade
is that it should be seen as what compels the market that create dynamics between
these variables. During long periods of prosperity and financial stability, players of
the international trade ease up about the risk of loss either through a systematic
underestimation of those risks, or a decline in their risk assessment tactics due to
increasing wealth, or both. This aversion to the idea of risk and keeping that period
of prosperity continuous makes the investors greedy, and
A Clean Well-Lighted Place Symbolism
In A Clean, Well Lighted Place, Ernest Hemingway uses light and dark imagery
along with a young vs. old motif to demonstrate that life has no meaning. The story
is about a deaf old man who sits in a cafe every night and gets drunk and the
waiters that must serve him. One waiter is young and arrogant while the other is a
little older and is more humble and understanding of others. Throughout the story
the waiters converse back and forth about what should be done about this drunk
old man as it gets later and later in the night. The cafe is used as a place for those
seeking quiet and the light instead of the loud dark bars. The light is an escape from
the nothingness of the world. In this story, it seems that we can only see places that are

waiters or an old men so why should we care. This story exposes a sad and hopeless
viewpoint on life so why should we read it? I believe that this story is a wake up
call. It reminds me to enjoy every moment of my life and to not rush through my
everyday endeavors. We shouldn t live our lives like they are jobs and thinking
with a have to attitude. Like my football coach, Coach Lavorato says, live your life
with a get to attitude not a have to attitude. The waiter gets to get up every morning
and go to work. He gets to go home to his wife. This can be applied to our lives as
well. For example, I get to go to a extraordinary school everyday. I get to go to
football practice everyday. I get to see my friends and family everyday. I get to do
homework every night. I think Hemingway s message is that he wants us to be
inspired by this story and to savor every moment of our lives. Don t be fooled by the
rush and timetables of life, take things slow and enjoy your Clean, Well Lighted
Reflection Paper On University Students
University Adjustments: A Reflection paper by Diate, Kim P. (BSEd Physics)
Changing environment and adapting to wider responsibility is one of the numerous
challenges faced by university students. College life can be considered an important
transition period where an individual experience various new things for the first time,
for instance new pattern of life style, liberation to foreign cultures, roommates,
colleagues and even meeting people of different perspectives [5]. The adjustment
expands from communicating with new peers and colleague up to academic and time
management. The university environment calls for adjustments to the students in all
aspects. For the students who are actively involved in extra curricular activities in
their high school years will have to do extra time management so that they can still
enjoy activities without putting their academic performance at a critical state.
Another very common burden hurdled by students is the budget allocation for both
food consumption as well as the daily demands for school projects and requirements.

Why Laptops Are Distracting America s Future Workforce
There s no denying that technology has grown to play a major role in education and
learning. Students are using laptops, tablets, and smartphones to research, complete,
and even collaborate on assignments, both in and outside of the classroom. Timothy
D. Snyder and Thomas L. Friedman both have written articles expressing their
opposing opinions on technology in the classroom. Timothy Snyder is a Professorof
History at Yale University who has written five different award winning books. In his
article, Why Laptops Are Distracting America s Future Workforce , Snyder explains
to students and teachers why he is against technology in the classroom. Thomas

In Thomas Friedman s article, Come the Revolution, Friedman is confident that an
online only education program called Coursera is the solution to the problems of
rising tuition and the increased importance of education in a knowledge economy.
The rhetorical strategies used by Friedman were much more effective in comparison
to Snyder s, especially his use of valid numbers, statistics, and facts to support his
claims. One example of this is in the second paragraph of Friedman s Come the
Revolution. After introducing Andrew Ng, professor and cofounder of Coursera, and
explaining the online platform s benefits, Friedman quotes Ng to support his
argument. He writes, I normally teach 400 students, Ng explained, but last semester
he taught 100,000 in an online course on machine learning. To reach that many
students before, he said, I would have had to teach my normal Stanford class for 250
years. Friedman uses the valid numbers, statistics, and facts from reliable authorities
to support his argument.
Another rhetorical strategy that was very effective for Friedman but was ineffective
in Snyder s argument is tone. Choosing words and examples carefully for tone is
important when attempting to persuade because tone indicates the writer s attitude
towards his subject or audience. In Timothy Snyder s, Why Laptops in Class Are

Water Pollution Essay
Water is life s matter and matrix, mother, and medium. There is no life without
water. (Szent Gyorgyi) This powerful phrase was coined by Albert Szent Gyorgyi, a
Nobel Prize winning biochemist. Even in the early 1900 s when Albert lived, people
were talking about water pollution. Pollution is still even today, a hot topic of
politics. According to Merriam Webster Dictionary, pollution
is the action of polluting,
especially by environmental contamination with man made waste. Pollutants can be
more than synthetic waste. Pollutants can be natural such as soil, volcanic ash, and
minerals. Whether the pollution is natural or accidental, humans should always
carefully monitor pollution in our waterways. Pollution can affect the life from plants
to wildlife, and even humans. Therefore, having regular water testing is important for
maintaining and monitoring pollution, animal populations, and overall water quality.
Water testing can consist of PH, hardness, nitrate/nitrite, in addition to bacteria
testing. The North Carolina Health and Human Services require far more testing for
the local waterways such as testing for uranium and radionuclide levels. This project
will focus on the local water sources such as ditches, streams, and bays. The water
samples came from around Dixon High School, Chadwick Shores Neighborhood, and
various ditch systems within Onslow County. Regular water testing is important for
monitoring pollution because of the lethal damage pollution can cause.
Lava River Research Paper
Duty owed: While rafting down the Chilko River, Ron Thompson, a seasoned river
guide with thirteen years of experience, had his raft high side on a rock. When the
raft high sided and all but one of his guests fell out into the river. Due to the strong
rapids five of the guests died. This is a tragedy that should not have happened on the
riverconsidering it is not nearly close enough to being one of the major rivers in
Canada. The problem of where this happened on the river, Lava Canyon, is about
how long the rapids run. The water level was approximately 2 feet lower than it
typically ran. With water levels changing, rapids adjust throughout the river. When
the raft hit a wake it turned on its side and hit the rock that forced people out of the
raft. Some of the people were able to swim for safety, including Thompson, but sadly
five drowned.
Duty breached: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The way that the raft hit the rock forced people on the high side of the raft to fly
out. The people who were on the bottom side of the raft were washed out by the
strong current of the river. Because of Thompson being in the middle controlling the
oars he was one of the first people to fly out of the raft. Since he was thrown out of
the raft, Thompson was unable to help with the situation at hand.
Injury caused by a substandard act: When the guests hit the water some were lucky
enough to hit a part of the river where they could swim to safety. Thompson was
lucky enough to find an eddy in the water, a place in the water that holds you into a
spot because of a rock blocking the current. Unfortunately, due to the length of the
river, when the raft hit the rock and all of the guests went flying out, five were
unable to swim to safety and while rolling down the river, they drowned due to the
water constantly splashing in their face and from being pulled into the water.

Genesis Chapter 37-45 Analysis
Did He trick me into a rosy belief in Him? I have been a Christian for over four
decades, and I still Cannot fathom why He allows us to form our own pictures of
Him. Is it so he can jump up from behind the table and say: Boo! Gottcha! In
Genesis, chapters 37 45, we read the story of Joseph. It is eight chapters, but not
such a long account when one considers it covers most of Joseph s life. Joseph was
the eleventh of twelve sons born to the patriarch, Jacob, and the firstborn of his
beloved wife, Rachel. Jacob spoiled Joseph. At least that is what is implied, for he
gave him the gift of a colorful robe, a robe he did not give to his other children.
Perhaps I am reading something into the story that is not there, but Joseph appeared
to be a very good kid, a little cocky, maybe. He was Jacob s pride and joy and how he
must have felt blessed by God to have such a son.... Show more content on

Is it reasonable to conclude that Joseph became disillusioned with God? There is
no doubt in my mind that Jacob had shared with his children the promise God had
given to his forefather, Abraham. And what about Jacob? In his youth he was
wild, but he had settled down, grown up. Again, I am speaking without clear
knowledge, but it is possible to conclude that both Joseph and Jacob became
depressed and overwhelmed with life. But the Bible does not say how the players
felt during the middle of this sordid tale. It just tells how Joseph felt at the end.
You meant evil against me, Joseph eventually tells his brothers. But God meant it
for good. Notice that Joseph did not say God brought good out of the horrible life
experience he endured but God meant good. Not, mind you, God s intentions were
good, or God said or did something that turned out wrong, even though He meant it
for right. Or God made a birthday cake, but it tipped to one side and the icing melted
but hey, his heart was right kind of
The Influence Of Nietzsche On Free Will
Nietzsche regards free will not only to be a philosophical error but also to be a
falsification in society (651). Nietzsche suggests that any particular will is going
to be strong or weak to some actual degree and points out that with will there are
thoughts and our thoughts can flow and change just as things in the universe flow
and change (651). According to Nietzsche, the underlying force driving all change
is will and it boils down to a drive for freedom and domination over other things
(651). Nietzsche states that we use the four great errors constantly to misinterpret
reality and thus create many illusions that are used to show the world in a more
convenient light for us (651). Nietzsche states that the first error is the most
dangerous one, which is mistaking the cause and effect and regards it as an error
that is the most recent and yet has been a habit for centuries (651). Since this error is
praised by society as religionand morality, it ends up limiting people with either
encouragement or restrictions (651).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nietzsche concludes that people tend to be insecure about themselves when
compared to people around them, which can lead to destruction of oneself (652).
Inner facts , which include the will, the ego and the spirit. With these inner facts
humans project their subjectivity onto the world through the doers from which every
doing follows (652). Nietzsche argued that there are no causes that originate from
will and through mental causes (652). This has led them to consider ego as the
concept of being and they have put spirit as the cause, instead of reality, thus
establishing a measure for that reality
The Real General George Patton Essay
The Real General George Patton
World War II was the most destructive war in history. It began in 1939 as a
European conflict between Germany and a British and French alliance, but
eventually included most of the nations of the world. Most of the war was fought
with the same types of weapons used in World War I. The greatest advances were in
aircraft and tanks.
Patton was the first soldier in the tank corps. He created the training procedures, the
regulations and the methods of instruction. At that time the American public saw
Patton as an arrogant man who enraged Americans because he slapped a soldier who
was hospitalized for post traumatic stress disorder, which at that time was called
combat fatigue. The movie portrays ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, in reality, at this point in time, he was still a lieutenant general and the
decorations were awarded to him after the war. Patton is shown in Morocco, where in
1941 he was the commander of the 2nd Armored Division. He was assigned to seize
Cassablanca, which he did. He went to the headquarters of Admiral Michelier with
pearl handled pistols and a tommy gun and impressed the Sultan of Morocco. One of
the beginning scenes inthe movie shows Patton being presented with the order of

1942, when Rommel attacked through the southern flank of the British line west of
El Alamein. General Bernard Law Montgomery fought with Patton, and forced
Rommel into a retreat. Throughout the movie, Rommel and Patton are seen as major
adversaries.
Three American, three British, and one Canadian divisions landed on Sicily on July

1943. One of these divisions was General Patton s army. They pushed across the
island and overcame the last Axis opposition on August 17. The movie does not

Italian government had entered into negotiations that ended in an armistice on
September 8. The movie does deal with the famous slapping incident. The movie does

Operation Torch History
Aviation is one of the combat arms branches of the army today, but in the
beginning flying was just a method of observation and scouting. Before the first
heavier than air aircraft appeared, the man had been taking the sky using balloons,
During the American civil war both the North and the South used air balloons to
direct artillery fire and observe enemy dispositions. this marked the beginning of
aerial support for ground troops the roles of the first aircraft were limited to
reconnaissance. However, they quickly evolve and adapt specialized roles. The

This action put the Air Corps in an equal status with the infantry, cavalry, and
artillery. The Army experimented with organic light aircraft in artillery units
during maneuvers in 1940 and 1941. The tests of these Grasshoppers, as the light
planes were called, were very successful. Their performance was far better than the
larger Air Corps planes that had been used previously. Organic Army Aviation saw
combat during Operation Torch in November 1942 in North Africa. While the
original function of organic Army Aviation was to adjust artillery, during the war, it
expanded. During World War II, L 4 Grasshoppers and a few larger L 5 Sentinels
were used to adjust artillery fire, gather intelligence, support naval gunfire, conduct
medical evacuations (MEDEVAC), and perform other functions like command and
control. In the meantime, the advance of technology was a full speed. In January

Ford Model T
The 1920 s were a time where North America became modernized. Whether it was
the music, the culture or the growth in technology, this time era is known to most
people as the point where America advanced itself to become a world renowned
country. An advancement that will be focused on is the Ford Model T. During this
time owning a car was a symbol of wealth. Henry Ford, the creator of the Model T,
made a system that revolutionized the automobile industry as we know it today.
Henry Ford made it possible for people with an average income to own a motor
vehicle by creating the assembly lineand the theory of mass production. The horse,
which had been the chief means of land transportation for 3,500 years, had given way
to the automobile, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the introductions of the Model T, the assembly line and the method of mass
production created many new jobs. The Model T s low price allowed everyone
that was making a good salary to buy a car. It helped out society by giving people
jobs especially at around this time when there was a lot of immigration in the United
States and people needed jobs. This vast production stimulated many other
businesses: The steel, rubber, and glass industries flourished. Construction companies
boomed as highways and garages were built. Oil companies, rapidly losing their
kerosene business to the spread of electricity, more than made up for it with increased
gasoline sales. (Gordon) As a whole it changed the economy at the time but in the
long run it changed what society is today. It created mass production which is now
our way of production and it changed all of working America with the numerous
amounts of jobs it created. As more Americans owned cars, urbanization patterns
changed. The United States saw the growth of suburbia, the creation of a national
highway system, and a population entranced with the possibility of going anywhere
anytime. (http://inventors.about.com/library/inventors/blford.htm) The Model T is

Lesson Two: Introduction to Tobacco
Learning Objective: By the end of this lesson students will be able to understand how
smoking and tobacco effects our lungs and our ability to breath comfortably.
Activity: Jogging in Place
Concept: When a person smokes a cigarette he is inhaling tar into his lungs. The
lungs have tiny sacs called alveoli . These sacs allow the breathing process to work.
Some of the tar that makes its way into the lungs becomes deposited in these tiny
air sacs. Two things can occur. First, the sacs can become filled up with tar and
cease to function. Second, the air sacs can fill up with tar and burst. Either way, it
reduces the ability of your lungs to do their job. When this occurs, you experience a
shortness of breath. When it becomes severe, it is called emphysema. But you don t
have to have to have emphysema to have reduced breathing capacity. This can
occur just a short time after you start smoking. Here is a fun fact, the tar that is
used in cigarettes is the same tar that is used to make asphalt roads. If you were to
smoke one pack of cigarettes per day for a year, you would be inhaling the equivalent
of a quart jar of tar into your lungs per year.

Essay On Penny Stocks
What are Penny Stocks?
Low priced, small cap stocks are commonly referred to as penny stocks (We ll also
refer to them as nano, micro, or small cap stocks). In contrast to their name, penny
stocks scarcely cost a penny. The SEC views a them to be anything under $5. Even
though there are sub $5 stocks trading on large exchanges like NYSE, NASDAQ,
and the AMEX, the majority of investors and traders don t consider these when asked
to describe the pennies.
Many individual investors and traders glimpse at micro stocks like Wall Street s
mafia, an untamed world of investing separate from all the glamour and media
coverage that happens with stocks that are traded on major exchanges. While the
gains and losses can be pretty impressive or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

These exchanges have demanding listing requirements, and while they may not
allow for as much of an upside as true penny stocks can, they are likely to be more
reliable. Often though, micro stocks trade on listing services like OTCBB and Pink
Sheets.
Over the Counter Bulletin Board, or OTCBB, is a quotation. Unlike Pink Sheets,
which is just a quotation publisher, OTCBB retains listing requirements (though they
re a lot less stringent than those of an exchange). For this reason, OTCBB has a little
bit of added legitimacy.
Pink Sheets is a system that provides investors with quotation information on stocks
that are registered with it. Unlike OTCBB, however, Pink Sheets are not registered
with the SEC and doesn t enforce any listing requirements. Bottom Line: Pink Sheets
stocks are risky as there is a lot of manipulation and scams from insiders and market
makers. These also include sub penny stocks (anything under .01c).
The Potential Payoff
With all the risk involved, why would anyone trader or investor want to put their
money in a nano stock anyways? The answer is volatility, and super fast results.
Because penny stocks are prone to violent fluctuation (volatility), many people think
that they ll luck out with a stock that will jump from $0.08 to $8 in two weeks. And
it s happened especially with sub penny stocks that issue a Press Release. Search

The River In Hermann Hesse s Siddhartha
The river in Siddhartha can also symbolize the unity of the self. In the book,
Siddhartha s main goal is to find peace and nirvana. He goes far and beyond just to
experience the divine of complete mental peace. After years of working hard,
Siddhartha finally reaches his goal, His self had merged into unity... There shone on
his face the serenity of knowledge, of one who is no longer confronted with a
conflict of desires... Belonging to the unity of the people (136). As Siddharthalistens
and pays more attention to the river, he is going through all the memories of his life
and all he heard were the voices of many merge into the voice of one, and that word
was Om. This is the moment that Siddhartha s self has merged into unity. Siddhartha
s mind is much more free of stress and horrors.... Show more content on

To clarify his doubt that Siddhartha has reached Nirvana and so Govinda kisses
Siddhartha and in this very same moment touched with his lips. And, Govinda saw
it like this, this smile of the mask, this smile of oneness above the flowing forms,
this smile of simultaneousness above the thousand births and deaths, this smile of
Siddhartha was precisely the same, was precisely of the same kind as the quiet,
delicate, impenetrable, perhaps benevolent, perhaps mocking, wise, thousand fold
smile of Gotama, Siddhartha (152). After Siddhartha, achieved Nirvana, when
Govinda touches Siddhartha, the oneness which feels like many different people
to Govinda, but he, later on, realizes that it is just one voice which is Om. This
oneness is symbolized by the river, the water of which goes through its own life
cycle. It starts in the river and its ultimate goal is to become water vapor and after the
goal is reached, it returns back to the start and the cycle goes on. This cycle of the
river relates to Siddhartha s life as he goes through a cycle of life as
Auschwitz Mental Health
The brutal concentration camp of all that existed had the most survivors. Auschwitz
was the concentration camp on the darkest side of humanity. It was served as a
prison and death was a permanent feature. Brutal abuse like gas chambers,
crematoriums, and starvation were punishments the prisoners at Auschwitz
experienced. The physical health of the prisoners was very unhealthy . The
conditions that they lived in were so awful, many prisoners died each day without
being gassed (Feldman 247). There were also many cases of Epidemic disease
(Pelt). Day and night, the prisoners struggled to survive with the lack of sleep,
clothing, and privacy (Dwork and Pelt). If there were prisoners that were

Reasons For Referral And Background Information
Reasons for referral and background information
Reasons for referral The referral of the client was done on the basis of evaluation
and assessment by the clinical psychiatrist at the Williamsburg Mental Health
Center after the school psychologist discovered that she has undergone some
behavioral problems which are symptoms of depression as well as a mental illness
(Asendorpf, 2003). The nature of this assessment takes a while since various steps
and procedures need to be taken and to conduct various tests and be able to come up
with the best intervention that will help treat the client. The client has to be assessed
and observed occasionally, and this means that she has to be around for the
psychologist to carry out the various tests ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, this is her second psychology test. After the school psychologist noticed
some funny behaviors with Jane, he recommended her for an evaluation so as to
avoid any further complications. Some of the signs of a possible mental illness as
shown by Jane include dissatisfaction with her life, stress, and depression, feeling of
hopelessness, not being sociable as always, she appears being sad, aspects of
inadequacy in her life, as well as the lack of progress in her position as the
administrative assistant. Essentially, the client here is known as Jane Smith who
was referred to the Williamsburg Mental Health Center after there was a discovery
that she had funny symptoms of depression as well as suicidal attempts. The
admission date for Jane was 10/8/2013, Number case 12783A and the evaluation date
was 10/12/2013.
Assessment procedures For the evaluation of this scenario, this section recommends
various assessment measures and these measures are listed as follows:
пѓ The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory Adolescent (MMPI A)
пѓ Examination of mental status
пѓ The review of Past school records
пѓ Review of past Medical Records
пѓ Interviewing the client, family, close friends as well as colleagues
пѓ Observation of the client s behaviors
пѓ Review of past performance at the place of work

Mel Brooks Essay
Biography
[edit] Early life
Born Melvin Kaminsky in Brooklyn, New York, U.S., to Polish Jewish parents
Maximillian Kaminsky and Kate Kittie Brookman. Brooks grandfather, Abraham
Kaminsky, was a herring dealer who immigrated in 1893. He and his wife Bertha
raised their ten children on Henry Street on the Lower East Side of New York City.
His father died of kidney disease at age 34. A year later, in 1930, Kittie Kaminsky
and her sons Irving, Leonard, Bernard and Melvin were living at 365 S. 3rd St. in
the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY.
As a child, Mel was a small and sickly boy. He was bullied and picked on by his
peers. By taking on the comically aggressive job of Tummler in various Catskills
resorts, he overcame ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Brooks developed a repertory company of sorts for his film work: performers with
three or more Brooks films to their credit include Gene Wilder, Dom DeLuise,
Madeline Kahn, Harvey Korman, Cloris Leachman, Ron Carey and AndrГ©as
Voutsinas. Dom DeLuise has appeared in six of Brooks 12 films, the only person
with more appearances being Brooks himself.
In 1975, at the height of his movie career, Brooks tried TV again with When Things
Were Rotten, a Robin Hood parody that lasted only 13 episodes. Nearly 20 years
later, Brooks mounted another Robin Hood parody with Robin Hood: Men in Tights.
In 1980 Brooks became interested in producing the dramatic film The Elephant Man
(directed by David Lynch). Knowing that anyone seeing a poster reading Mel Brooks
presents The Elephant Man would expect a comedy, he set up the company
Brooksfilms. Brooksfilms has since produced a number of non comedy films,
including David Cronenberg s The Fly, Frances, and 84 Charing Cross Road, starring
Anthony Hopkins and Anne Bancroft, as well as comedies, including Richard
Benjamin s My Favorite Year.
The 1980s saw Brooks produce and direct only two films, the first being History of
the World Part I in 1981, a tongue in cheek look at human culture from the Dawn
of Man to the French Revolution. As part of the film s soundtrack, Brooks, then
aged 55, recorded a rap entitled It s Good to Be the King , sending up Louis XVI and
the French Revolution; it was released as a single, and

What is the most beautiful place in the world? The place where silk like waters

Nonverbal Communication And Nonverbal Behavior
Research Paper 1 Nonverbal Communication Nonverbal communication includes all
aspects of communication other than words (Wood, 2013).
Nonverbal Communication Indispensable Compliment of Oral and Written
Communication Dinica s article in Procedia, Social and Behavioral Sciences from
2014 researched how nonverbal behavior aids communication by observing how
animals communicate, since humans are the only species to use language as their
main form of communication. While there were some similarities between animal s
and human s nonverbal behaviors, they discovered that thanks to language, humans
have adapted to using their words to communicate information more and pick up on
less nonverbal cues. Animal communication was limited based on their body features
and the range of ways they could use their bodies to communicate different things. It
talks about how children learn nonverbal communication first and learn to pick up on
cues as a young kid until they become old enough to use full sentences. This makes it
so many of the nonverbal cues are learned at a young age from children watching
their parents communicate. It is believed that women have a better ability at
perceiving nonverbal cues since they are often the ones communicating with young
children. The article then goes on to discuss different areas of nonverbal
communication.
The first area is body language. Similar to class it mentions how facial expressions
are great for communicating emotions and posture can

Mussolini consolidation of fascist power in Italy in the years 1922 1929 could have
been mainly due to the use of force and intimidation. However this was not a
straightforward process, since fascism was a new thing. In the years 1922 to January
1925 marked the transition from the liberal parliamentary system to the fascist state.
Like many political transitions, it was an untidy and complicated process. Although
from the start Mussolini s intentions were quite difficult to establish, however it could
be that Mussolini wanted to set up from the beginning a totalitarian one party state.

Space Exploration and Why It s Important On October 4th, 1957, Spunick 1 was the
first artificial satellite to be launched into outer space by the Soviet Union. On April
12th, 1969, Yuri Gagarin was the first person to orbit the earthin a space capsule
called Vostok 1. On July 11th, 1969, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were the first
humans to take foot steps on the moon through the Apollo 11 mission. On
February 14th 1990, the Voyager 1 space probe took a picture of the earth from a
distance of 6 billion kilometers, the farthest anything man made object had ever
been from home. Carl Sagan wrote a book with the same title stating: Look again at
that dot. That s here. That s home. That s us. On it everyone you love, everyone you
know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their
lives. These events, and many after them, are some of the most important and
revolutionary in space exploration history. These events show why we should learn
the importance of space exploration, why we should continue it, and why space is
the final frontier. The most important reason for the continuation of space
exploration is that it helps us understand our earth and how the human race can
preserve it and our species. For example, without satellites, a lot of the knowledge
we have about the earth today, such as weather patterns and the effects of pollution,
would not be as advanced. From space we can closely
History And Culture Of The Dance

History of Early Dance in France
The culture I chose to research the dance history of was French dance culture prior
to ballet and the different dances that were popular and possibly developed into
ballet. I wanted to learn more about French dance history because I am half French
from my mother s side of the family so I have always been fascinated with the
culture especially the dance culture. I have also danced ballet all of my life
starting at age four and have learned a lot about it and its origins so I thought it
would be interesting to see what other dances were popular in France. Having this
connection to my culture and my passion of dance is of great interest to me and I
enjoyed learning so much about the dance culture on France and how it has
developed over the years. Also it is fascinating to see what dances have survived
today that are still preformed and danced and how other dances influenced each
other to create new forms of dance. I mostly looked into court dances and what was
popular in the earlier parts of France with higher society individuals and how those
dances developed and either are still danced today or died out and developed into
other dances particularly how they greatly influenced what we know today as
ballroom dancing.
The majority of France s cultural enhancement took place during the crusades. The
crusades were military campaigns sanctioned by the Latin Roman Catholic

Manufacturers utilize trade promotions to encourage retailers to purchase their
products. The primary types of trade promotions are trade allowances, trade
incentives, trade shows, and trade contests. Each type of promotion provides
manufacturers with a unique opportunity to stimulate sales. Trade allowances for
instance provide retailers with discounts on their invoices. According to Clow
Baack (2014), Approximately 35% of all trade dollars goes to off invoice
allowances (p. 341). Trade allowances also include spotting fees and exit fees. These
are fees that the manufacturer pays to the retailer to stock a product or remove a
product from the shelf. It is assumed that retailers will pass on these discounts to the

The company s website could be set up to gather performance data. Trade shows and
trade incentives will be engaged to reach these potential customers. Attending an
industry trade show each quarter is optimal but due to the cost once the first year
may be more realistic. Industry trade shows should include those for auto and
repair shops as well as automobile trade shows. The company could benefit from
an endorsement by one of the auto car racers currently using the product. Having
one or more of these drivers accompany Terry to a trade show would be ideal. Trade
show attendance provides Hot Fire with the opportunity to make national as well
as international contacts. A budget will have to be set in place for the production
of a nice visual display such as a floor display and lighting. Additionally, a table
cover, pamphlets and promotional items such as business magnets will be needed.
Hot Fire has the advantage of having a small product that will not have to be
shipped ahead of time. That coupled with the fact that a large booth space is not
required reduces some of the associated costs. Estimated expenses would be as
follows: Floor display $9008 Table cover $300 Display shelf and lighting $300
Pamphlets $100 1000 Business card magnets $175 Trade booth $4000 Food and
lodging per person $550 Total trade related costs (not including mileage) $6,325
This cost would be greatly reduced with the
Literary Devices In The Pomegranate Poem
When people concur with and appreciate the quotes from Peter Pan, like don t
grow up, it s a trap , it is an indication that they ve already experienced countless
changes in life ( Peter Pan Quotes ). The majority of the children wants to grow up
because they witness adults enjoying their privileges, so they also want to act
according to their own desires. However, all the children have to go through an
inevitable period of emotional and physical maturity before reaching adulthood. The
Pomegranateintensively depicts a maturing teenage daughter and the complicated
relationship she now has with her mother. In the poem, Eavan Boland uses multiple
literary techniques such as allusion, various syntaxes, and symbolism to underscore

Letting go of the child whom one nourished from birth is challenging. When the
mother senses her child drifting away and sees her child at the gateway to
independence, who once ran to meet her when the she picked up from school, the
mother is heartbroken and feels depressed. However, the mother s love exceeds the
bounds of anguish and disappointment. The mother considers what s best for the
child and says nothing when the child is making his or her own choices (54).
Johnnie Dent Jr. once said, As parents we have a tendency to be overprotective; it s
okay to try and show them all positives, but we cannot forget that the real world has
teeth (Dent Jr.). This convoluted relationship and mother s train of thoughts are
carefully described through appropriate allusion, syntax, and symbols in the poem. As
the poem suggests, silently watching the child make life choices and wishing the best
for the child could be an effective parenting method for growth in the
Edwin Hubble Accomplishments
The Accomplishments of Edwin hubble Have you ever wanted to study the stars and
the universe? Well, Edwin Hubble did ,Edwin Hubble is a famous astronomer who
played a crucial role in the field of extragalactic astronomy. He is known as the most
Important observational Cosmologist the 20th century. He found out that the universe
goes beyond the milky way and that the universe is expanding. This essay consists of
the life, childhood, and accomplishments of Edwin Hubble (Wikipedia)
Edwin Hubble s childhood, Edwin Hubble was born in Marshfield November 20,
1889, Missouri, and moved to Chicago, Illinois when he was 10. There he attended
high school and he was good at sports especially track and field and he even broke
records there. Hubble received a scholarship to attend the University of Chicago in
1906. He worked as a lab assistant for Robert Millikan, who later won a Nobel Prize
for his work in the field of physics. After graduating in 1910, Hubble left Chicago

At that time, the good view of the cosmos was that the universe consisted entirely
of the Milky Way Galaxy. Using the Hooker Telescope at Mt. Wilson, Hubble
recognized Cepheid variables, Kind of star that is used to determine the distance
from the galaxy, in several spiral nebulae. Including the Andromeda Nebula and
Triangulum. His observations proved that these nebulae were much too distant to
be part of the Milky Way and were entire galaxies outside our own. This idea had
been rejected by many people in the astronomy establishment of the time. In
particular by the Harvard University based Harlow Shapley. Despite the people
saying no Hubble, had his findings published in The New York Times on November

  • 1. Describe Your Personality Essay Writing an essay about describing one's own personality might seem like a straightforward task at first glance, but in reality, it can be quite challenging. The difficulty lies in the complexity of the topic itself. Describing one's personality requires introspection, self-awareness, and the ability to articulate personal characteristics accurately and effectively. Firstly, introspection isn't always easy. It demands deep reflection on one's own thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and experiences. This process can be uncomfortable and even confronting at times, as it involves delving into both positive and negative aspects of oneself. Secondly, accurately representing one's personality requires a level of self-awareness that not everyone possesses. It's often easier to identify traits in others than it is to recognize them in ourselves. Moreover, there's a risk of bias or distortion, where individuals may either inflate or downplay certain characteristics based on their own perceptions or societal expectations. Additionally, conveying personal qualities in writing requires strong communication skills. Finding the right words to express oneself authentically and compellingly can be a daunting task. There's also the challenge of striking a balance between humility and self-confidence, avoiding both excessive modesty and arrogance. Moreover, writing about one's personality involves considering various aspects such as temperament, values, beliefs, interests, strengths, weaknesses, and experiences. Synthesizing these elements into a coherent narrative requires careful organization and planning. In conclusion, while writing an essay on describing one's personality may seem straightforward, it entails significant challenges related to introspection, self-awareness, communication skills, and narrative coherence. However, with patience, reflection, and effort, it is possible to create a meaningful and insightful portrayal of oneself. • 2. Diction And Views In Herman Melville s Benito Cereno It is a clichГ© known by many: Always trust your gut. In other words, listen to your intuition as first impressions matter. This saying reigns true in many works of literature, including Herman Melville s 1855 novel, Benito Cereno. Throughout the first part of the story, the main character, Captain Delano, struggles with whether or not to trust a newly encountered ship, the San Dominick, its inhabitants, or its captain, Benito Cereno. While the novel is third person omniscient, it is clear that Delano has his doubts about the foreign ship from the beginning due to the original descriptionof the San Dominick. Melville writes in the third person omniscient point of view in order to allow the audience to come to their own conclusions about the ship, but also heavily utilizes diction and sentence structure to give readers clues about what to expect from the characters and plot. To give the passage context, Delano is finally seeing the San Dominick clearly for the first time, not yet having met the passengers of the ship. Delano is alone and it can be assumed that the description is his point of view, due to the fact that the anonymous narrator appears to be pulling these images and renditions from Delano s mind. Because of this, the reader is encouraged to think ahead about the ship s culture, its passengers, and the types of things Delano will encounter if he decides to approach and explore it. Throughout the passage, the author makes use of an overload of adjectives, all
  • 3. Consumer Behavior And Consumer Behaviour Introduction A consumer is any person that is involved in the process of consumption. They are identified according to the market type to which they belong, namely final and industrial consumers (Solomon, et al., 2013). Understanding the consumer behaviors will aid in appreciating the various market segments and developing strategies for effecting market penetration in these segments. It will also help in identifying market gaps and shape their needs and objectives so as to solve the day to day consumer s concerns in purchase. The single purpose of all production is consumption. The producer s interest should only be attended to as far as it is necessary in promoting the needs of a consumer (Smith, 1937 p. 125). Studies on consumer behavior began in the 1960s, and later several consumer theories which focused on the consumer from various perspectives were developed. Marketers use these theories to deveop marketing strategies based on attitudes, interests and consumer perception. Consumer behavior theories All major consumer theories can be grouped into four categories, namely economic, psychological, psycho analytical, and socio cultural theories. They are based on the simple law of conumption that consumption increases as aggregate income increases, assuming the habits of spending are constant and political and economic conditions are free and perfect (Solomon, et al., 2013). Economic theories Economic theories on consumption are focused on how income is allocated and how
  • 4. The Mystery Of Mystery Stories Mystery as a literary genre finds its roots in the writings of the 19th century. During this century great writers of the literary fiction utilises their brilliance to lay the foundations of various aspects of the mystery writing. Many fictional characters who were born in the 19th century, are still the most famous personalities of today s fiction. It s interesting to note that US President Abraham Lincoln also wrote a mystery story in the 19th century, based on a real case once he defended(1). Anton Chekhov (1860 1904) was a Russian physician, writer and playwright, renowned for his short stories in fact , he is considered among the pioneers of the short story .It may be surprising to many that he also wrote mystery stories early in the career under a pseudo name Antosha Chekonte. His book of mystery stories A Night in the Cemetery : And Other stories of Crime and Suspense contains more than 40 such stories(2).These stories may be the result of his experiences , when he accompanied the local police on criminal investigation and performed autopsies as a physician(3). • 5. What Great Teachers Do Differently Analysis Initial Summary: During the first months of school, I noticed my students spend a great deal of time off task, specifically talking out of turn. Students do not always raise their hands to answer questions, start a conversation with a classmate, or interrupt the lesson to say they do not understand a topic. I often have to spend several minutes a day asking students to stop talking, reminding students to raise their hand and wait to be called on, and spend a great deal of time waiting for my students to quiet down and refocus. I have difficulty redirecting these students back to the current task quickly, to avoid losing large amounts of instructional time and often these small disruptions become increasingly more difficult to handle as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the article PRAISE for Students with Behavioral Challenges, Beth Akerman states there are a plethora of reinforcements a teacher can use, such as eye contact, detentions or a contingency contract, but effective teachers employ more positive reinforcements than negative ones. By recognizing the positives rather than the negatives, students are motivated to receive praise; thus, a safer, more engaging classroom atmosphere resulted. This idea resonated with other sources as well. In The 12 Touchstones of Good Teaching, Bryan Goodwin and Elisabeth Ross Hubbell explain that often students causing the disruption are looking for attention, good or bad and reprimanding them gives the attention they strive for. Goodwin and Hubbell continued call out students who are displaying appropriate behaviors to encourage all students to be noticed and get the appropriate attention within the
  • 6. The United States Should Not Be A Country Various individuals might say to the world, Let s achieve world peace, Let s end world hunger, or various other suggestions, but the one thing I would like to say to the world would be, Let s try to understand each other. By asking to try this question no one is asking or demanding anyone to do something drastic or something they do not want to do since it would not be in their best interest. Let s try to understand each other is giving different country leaders and citizens the opportunity to sit down and listen to one another without a commitment to act. Understanding one another might deter conflicts, wars, as well as promote nations to come together to help one another in a crisis or disaster. The United States was established on a belief that democracy is the most efficient way to run a country, while North Korea believes dictatorship is the proper way to run a country. How can one country tell another country their ideology is wrong if that country has never been governed in that manner? The United States government might discuss ideologies and show examples of how Americans flourish under democracy. The adverse is true; if North Korea discussed their ideologies with the United States politicians might have a better understanding. I am of the opinion there would be a slim chance both countries would try to understand the other. Never less, if politicians listen to one another and keep an open mind, tensions might decrease and open a door for much needed aid to the
  • 7. Should Father s Receive Paternity Leave Essay EN3100: Week 3 Assignment: Argumentative Essay 06/24/2012 Ciera Clark National American University Should Father s Receive Paid Paternity Leave In this day in age we find ourselves wondering if is feasible for men to get paid paternity leave, since women get paid maternity leave after they have their baby. You have to really think about this though, because not all companies pay women to take maternity leave. So why would we pay our men to take paternity leave when not all women get paid when they have no choice but to take off after having a baby. So I want you to ask yourself, Should father s get paid for paternity leave? There are some good aspects to having the father take paternity leave. Say, companies did offer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Having the father home will help with daycare cost when the mother goes back to work. There are some potential downsides to men having paid paternity leave. Most countries make parental leave open to both men and women; women take the vast majority of leave. When leave is long, this can have some consequences for women s place in the labor market. For example, in Sweden parents have the right to a parental leave for up to 18 months, but women take nearly 85% of parental leave. The major goal of Swedish policy these days is to encourage men to take more parental leave; already there are two month daddy only leaves, which are lost to the couple if the father doesn t take them. The problem with fathers taking paternity leave is that the fathers are scared to take leave for the fear that they may lose their jobs. Companies should offer paternity leave for expectant fathers. By offering paternity leave for fathers to be companies allow fathers to be a benefit of paid or unpaid time off work to care for their child, make arrangements for the child s welfare, and preparation for the adoption of a child. Generally, offering paternity leave for fathers allows them to benefit the birth of a child. Companies that provide the option of paternity leave grant these fathers the privilege of being present for labor, delivery, and any other emergency procedures that may be necessary. Software Development Cost Analysis FASB defines research as planned search or investigation to discover new knowledge; it defines development as the translation of research findings into a plan or design. Under US GAAP, both research and development costs are expensed as incurred. While under IFRS (IAS 38), costs associated with the creation of intangible assets are classified into researchphase costs and development phase costs. Costs in the research phase are always expensed (PWC, pg. 6 7). For an asset to have alternative use, it must be reasonably expected (greater than a 50% chance) that an entity will achieve economic benefit from such alternative use and further development is not needed at the acquisition date to use the asset (E Y, pg. 6 9).While under IFRS, acquired research and development assets are capitalized if it is probable that they will have future economic benefits. The price paid reflects expectations about the probability that the future economic benefits of the asset will flow to the entity. The probability recognition criterion is always assumed to be met for separately acquired intangible assets (E Y, pg. 6 9). The starting point for companies applying IFRS is to differentiate between costs that are related to research activities versus those related to development activities. According to KPMG, while the definition of what constitutes research versus development is very similar between IFRS and US GAAP, neither provides a bright line on separating the two. Instead, a company needs to develop processes and controls that allow it to make that distinction based on the nature of different activities. To analyse the differences in accounting under IFRS and US GAAP, it can be better understood with the example. The Boeing Company follows
  • 11. Religious Institutions And Personal Devotions In my initial position paper, I differentiated between faith, works, and religion, and concluded that the academic study of religion is similar to the academic study of other cultural identities, such as race and gender. What I failed to understand, however, was how complex the boundary between religious institutions and personal devotions really was. Popular religion, as I have come to learn, assumes qualities of both public and private worship and belief and illustrates a far greater struggle than I was able to detect. This struggle is that between the individual person, the community, and the institution. Therefore, the anthropology of religion is a field that seems to be characterized largely by studies of self, collective, and power, rather than the more simplistic set, as I defined it originally, of self, other, and ritual. To approach the field in this way, we will analyze Latin American popular religion. I will first distinguish between the self and the collective, showing how the latter is a collection of many individuals, but also in a dynamic relationship with the beliefs of its members. This relates to the concept of power, as both parties involved exert some degree of control over the other. Consequently, I will then address the power of the institution and the relationship that it has over the worshippers. As such, I hope the thesis that the anthropology of religion seems to be largely defined by interactions of self, collective, and power will be

In recent years, reducing nutrient loss from root zone and minimizing the impact on farming practices of freshwater bodies has taken centre stage in this debate (Clothier et al., 2007). Pollution is still even today, a hot topic of politics. According to Merriam Webster Dictionary, pollution is the action of polluting, especially by environmental contamination with man made waste. Pollutants can be more than synthetic waste. Pollutants can be natural such as soil, volcanic ash, and minerals. Whether the pollution is natural or accidental, humans should always carefully monitor pollution in our waterways. Pollution can affect the life from plants to wildlife, and even humans. • 31. Genesis Chapter 37-45 Analysis Did He trick me into a rosy belief in Him? I have been a Christian for over four decades, and I still Cannot fathom why He allows us to form our own pictures of Him. Is it so he can jump up from behind the table and say: Boo! Gottcha! In Genesis, chapters 37 45, we read the story of Joseph. It is eight chapters, but not such a long account when one considers it covers most of Joseph s life. Joseph was the eleventh of twelve sons born to the patriarch, Jacob, and the firstborn of his beloved wife, Rachel. Jacob spoiled Joseph. At least that is what is implied, for he gave him the gift of a colorful robe, a robe he did not give to his other children. Perhaps I am reading something into the story that is not there, but Joseph appeared to be a very good kid, a little cocky, maybe. He was Jacob s pride and joy and how he must have felt blessed by God to have such a son.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Is it reasonable to conclude that Joseph became disillusioned with God? There is no doubt in my mind that Jacob had shared with his children the promise God had given to his forefather, Abraham. And what about Jacob? In his youth he was wild, but he had settled down, grown up. Again, I am speaking without clear knowledge, but it is possible to conclude that both Joseph and Jacob became depressed and overwhelmed with life. But the Bible does not say how the players felt during the middle of this sordid tale. It just tells how Joseph felt at the end. You meant evil against me, Joseph eventually tells his brothers. But God meant it for good. Notice that Joseph did not say God brought good out of the horrible life experience he endured but God meant good. Not, mind you, God s intentions were good, or God said or did something that turned out wrong, even though He meant it for right. Or God made a birthday cake, but it tipped to one side and the icing melted but hey, his heart was right kind of
  • 32. The Influence Of Nietzsche On Free Will Nietzsche regards free will not only to be a philosophical error but also to be a falsification in society (651). Nietzsche suggests that any particular will is going to be strong or weak to some actual degree and points out that with will there are thoughts and our thoughts can flow and change just as things in the universe flow and change (651). According to Nietzsche, the underlying force driving all change is will and it boils down to a drive for freedom and domination over other things (651). Nietzsche states that we use the four great errors constantly to misinterpret reality and thus create many illusions that are used to show the world in a more convenient light for us (651). Nietzsche states that the first error is the most dangerous one, which is mistaking the cause and effect and regards it as an error that is the most recent and yet has been a habit for centuries (651). Since this error is praised by society as religionand morality, it ends up limiting people with either encouragement or restrictions (651).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lesson Two: Introduction to Tobacco Learning Objective: By the end of this lesson students will be able to understand how smoking and tobacco effects our lungs and our ability to breath comfortably. Activity: Jogging in Place Concept: When a person smokes a cigarette he is inhaling tar into his lungs. The lungs have tiny sacs called alveoli . These sacs allow the breathing process to work. Some of the tar that makes its way into the lungs becomes deposited in these tiny air sacs. Two things can occur. First, the sacs can become filled up with tar and cease to function. Second, the air sacs can fill up with tar and burst. Either way, it reduces the ability of your lungs to do their job. When this occurs, you experience a shortness of breath. When it becomes severe, it is called emphysema. But you don t have to have to have emphysema to have reduced breathing capacity. This can occur just a short time after you start smoking. Here is a fun fact, the tar that is used in cigarettes is the same tar that is used to make asphalt roads. If you were to smoke one pack of cigarettes per day for a year, you would be inhaling the equivalent of a quart jar of tar into your lungs per year.

Nonverbal Communication Indispensable Compliment of Oral and Written Communication Dinica s article in Procedia, Social and Behavioral Sciences from 2014 researched how nonverbal behavior aids communication by observing how animals communicate, since humans are the only species to use language as their main form of communication. While there were some similarities between animal s and human s nonverbal behaviors, they discovered that thanks to language, humans have adapted to using their words to communicate information more and pick up on less nonverbal cues. Animal communication was limited based on their body features and the range of ways they could use their bodies to communicate different things. It talks about how children learn nonverbal communication first and learn to pick up on cues as a young kid until they become old enough to use full sentences. This makes it so many of the nonverbal cues are learned at a young age from children watching their parents communicate. It is believed that women have a better ability at perceiving nonverbal cues since they are often the ones communicating with young children. The article then goes on to discuss different areas of nonverbal communication. The first area is body language. Similar to class it mentions how facial expressions are great for communicating emotions and posture can

Mussolini consolidation of fascist power in Italy in the years 1922 1929 could have been mainly due to the use of force and intimidation. However this was not a straightforward process, since fascism was a new thing. In the years 1922 to January 1925 marked the transition from the liberal parliamentary system to the fascist state. Like many political transitions, it was an untidy and complicated process. Although from the start Mussolini s intentions were quite difficult to establish, however it could be that Mussolini wanted to set up from the beginning a totalitarian one party state. The ... Kenna Hughes Lewis English III Honors 6 September 2017 Space Exploration and Why It s Important On October 4th, 1957, Spunick 1 was the first artificial satellite to be launched into outer space by the Soviet Union. On April 12th, 1969, Yuri Gagarin was the first person to orbit the earthin a space capsule called Vostok 1. On July 11th, 1969, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were the first humans to take foot steps on the moon through the Apollo 11 mission. On February 14th 1990, the Voyager 1 space probe took a picture of the earth from a distance of 6 billion kilometers, the farthest anything man made object had ever been from home. Carl Sagan wrote a book with the same title stating: Look again at that dot. That s here. That s home. That s us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. These events, and many after them, are some of the most important and revolutionary in space exploration history. These events show why we should learn the importance of space exploration, why we should continue it, and why space is the final frontier. The most important reason for the continuation of space exploration is that it helps us understand our earth and how the human race can preserve it and our species. For example, without satellites, a lot of the knowledge we have about the earth today, such as weather patterns and the effects of pollution, would not be as advanced. From space we can closely

History And Culture Of The Dance Kayla RadfordAnnKassie TraNikki Morgan Dance History Final Paper Due: 4/20 History of Early Dance in France The culture I chose to research the dance history of was French dance culture prior to ballet and the different dances that were popular and possibly developed into ballet. I wanted to learn more about French dance history because I am half French from my mother s side of the family so I have always been fascinated with the culture especially the dance culture. I have also danced ballet all of my life starting at age four and have learned a lot about it and its origins so I thought it would be interesting to see what other dances were popular in France. Having this connection to my culture and my passion of dance is of great interest to me and I enjoyed learning so much about the dance culture on France and how it has developed over the years. Also it is fascinating to see what dances have survived today that are still preformed and danced and how other dances influenced each other to create new forms of dance. I mostly looked into court dances and what was popular in the earlier parts of France with higher society individuals and how those dances developed and either are still danced today or died out and developed into other dances particularly how they greatly influenced what we know today as ballroom dancing. The majority of France s cultural enhancement took place during the crusades. The crusades were military campaigns sanctioned by the Latin Roman Catholic

The primary types of trade promotions are trade allowances, trade incentives, trade shows, and trade contests. Each type of promotion provides manufacturers with a unique opportunity to stimulate sales. Trade allowances for instance provide retailers with discounts on their invoices. According to Clow Baack (2014), Approximately 35% of all trade dollars goes to off invoice allowances (p. 341). Trade allowances also include spotting fees and exit fees. These are fees that the manufacturer pays to the retailer to stock a product or remove a product from the shelf. It is assumed that retailers will pass on these discounts to the consumers,... Attending an industry trade show each quarter is optimal but due to the cost once the first year may be more realistic. Industry trade shows should include those for auto and repair shops as well as automobile trade shows. The company could benefit from an endorsement by one of the auto car racers currently using the product. Having one or more of these drivers accompany Terry to a trade show would be ideal. Trade show attendance provides Hot Fire with the opportunity to make national as well as international contacts. A budget will have to be set in place for the production of a nice visual display such as a floor display and lighting. Additionally, a table cover, pamphlets and promotional items such as business magnets will be needed. Hot Fire has the advantage of having a small product that will not have to be shipped ahead of time. That coupled with the fact that a large booth space is not required reduces some of the associated costs. Estimated expenses would be as follows: Floor display $9008 Table cover $300 Display shelf and lighting $300 Pamphlets $100 1000 Business card magnets $175 Trade booth $4000 Food and lodging per person $550 Total trade related costs (not including mileage) $6,325 This cost would be greatly reduced with the

The majority of the children wants to grow up because they witness adults enjoying their privileges, so they also want to act according to their own desires. Letting go of the child whom one nourished from birth is challenging. When the mother senses her child drifting away and sees her child at the gateway to independence, who once ran to meet her when the she picked up from school, the mother is heartbroken and feels depressed. However, the mother s love exceeds the bounds of anguish and disappointment. The mother considers what s best for the child and says nothing when the child is making his or her own choices (54). Johnnie Dent Jr. once said, As parents we have a tendency to be overprotective; it s okay to try and show them all positives, but we cannot forget that the real world has teeth (Dent Jr.). This convoluted relationship and mother s train of thoughts are carefully described through appropriate allusion, syntax, and symbols in the poem. As the poem suggests, silently watching the child make life choices and wishing the best for the child could be an effective parenting method for growth in the

At that time, the good view of the cosmos was that the universe consisted entirely of the Milky Way Galaxy. Using the Hooker Telescope at Mt. Wilson, Hubble recognized Cepheid variables, Kind of star that is used to determine the distance from the galaxy, in several spiral nebulae. Including the Andromeda Nebula and Triangulum. His observations proved that these nebulae were much too distant to be part of the Milky Way and were entire galaxies outside our own. This idea had been rejected by many people in the astronomy establishment of the time. In particular by the Harvard University based Harlow Shapley. Despite the people saying no Hubble, had his findings published in The New York Times on November 23, 1924.
