SCRUM IN POCHE PAROLE
Scrum is a lightweight framework that helps people, teams
and organizations generate value through adaptive solutions
for complex problems.

EMPIRISMO
TRASPARENZA, ISPEZIONE E ADATTAMENTO
30-11-2020 Massimo Sarti presenta la Scrum Guide 2020 – Agile Talks webinar online
EMPIRISMO
TRASPARENZA
The emergent process and work must
be visible to those performing the
work as well as those receiving the
work.
Artifacts that have low transparency
can lead to decisions that diminish
value and increase risk.
Transparency enables inspection.
Inspection without transparency is
misleading and wasteful
[pp. 3-4]
ISPEZIONE
The Scrum artifacts and the progress
toward agreed goals must be
inspected frequently and diligently to
detect potentially undesirable
variances or problems. To help with
inspection, Scrum provides cadence
in the form of its five events.
Inspection enables adaptation.
Inspection without adaptation is
considered pointless. Scrum events
are designed to provoke change.
[p. 3]
ADATTAMENTO
If any aspects of a process deviate
outside acceptable limits or if the
resulting product is unacceptable,
the process being applied or the
materials being produced must be
adjusted. The adjustment must be
made as soon as possible to minimize
further deviation.
Adaptation becomes more difficult
when the people involved are not
empowered or self-managing.

SONDAGGIO
30-11-2020 Massimo Sarti presenta la Scrum Guide 2020 – Agile Talks webinar online
DEFINIZIONE DI PRODOTTO
A product is a vehicle to deliver value.
It has
• a clear boundary,
• known stakeholders,
• well-defined users or customers.
A product could be a service, a physical product,
or something more abstract.
[p. 12]
30-11-2020 Massimo Sarti presenta la Scrum Guide 2020 – Agile Talks webinar online
UN TEAM, LO SCRUM TEAM
2017
The Scrum Team consists of a Product
Owner, the Development Team, and a
Scrum Master. Scrum Teams are self-
organizing and cross-functional. Self-
organizing teams choose how best to
accomplish their work, rather than being
directed by others outside the team.
Cross-functional teams have all
competencies needed to accomplish
the work without depending on others
not part of the team.
[p. 6]
2020
The fundamental unit of Scrum is a small
team of people, a Scrum Team. The
Scrum Team consists of one Scrum
Master, one Product Owner, and
Developers. Within a Scrum Team, there
are no sub-teams or hierarchies. It is a
cohesive unit of professionals focused on
one objective at a time, the Product
Goal.
Scrum Teams are cross-functional,
meaning the members have all the skills
necessary to create value each Sprint.
They are also self-managing, meaning
they internally decide who does what,
when, and how.
[p. 5]
30-11-2020 Massimo Sarti presenta la Scrum Guide 2020 – Agile Talks webinar online
ACCOUNTABILITIES
The entire Scrum Team is accountable for creating a valuable, useful Increment every
Sprint. Scrum defines three specific accountabilities within the Scrum Team: the
Developers, the Product Owner, and the Scrum Master.
Developers
Developers are the people in the Scrum Team that are committed to creating any
aspect of a usable Increment each Sprint.
Product Owner
The Product Owner is accountable for maximizing the value of the product resulting
from the work of the Scrum Team.
Scrum Master
The Scrum Master is accountable for establishing Scrum as defined in the Scrum
Guide.
The Scrum Master is accountable for the Scrum Team’s effectiveness
[ pp. 5-6]
30-11-2020 Massimo Sarti presenta la Scrum Guide 2020 – Agile Talks webinar online
SERVANT LEADERSHIP
2017
The Scrum Master is a servant-leader
for the Scrum Team. The Scrum
Master helps those outside the Scrum
Team understand which of their
interactions with the Scrum Team are
helpful and which aren’t. The Scrum
Master helps everyone change these
interactions to maximize the value
created by the Scrum Team.
[p. 7]
2020
Scrum Masters are true leaders who
serve the Scrum Team and the larger
organization. The Scrum Master serves
the Scrum Team, … the Product
Owner and … the organization in
several ways.
[p. 6-7]
The Scrum Master is accountable for
the Scrum Team’s effectiveness.

ARTEFATTI
SEMPRE TRE!
30-11-2020 Massimo Sarti presenta la Scrum Guide 2020 – Agile Talks webinar online
ARTEFATTI
Product Backlog
The Product Backlog is an emergent,
ordered list of what is needed to
improve the product. It is the single
source of work undertaken by the Scrum
Team.
Product Backlog items that can be
Done by the Scrum Team within one
Sprint are deemed ready for selection in
a Sprint Planning event. They usually
acquire this degree of transparency
after refining activities.
[p.10]
Sprint Backlog
The Sprint Goal, the Product Backlog
items selected for the Sprint, plus the
plan for delivering them are together
referred to as the Sprint Backlog [p. 9]
The Sprint Backlog is a plan by and for
the Developers. It is a highly visible,
real-time picture of the work that the
Developers plan to accomplish
during the Sprint in order to achieve
the Sprint Goal. [p. 11]
Increment
An Increment is a concrete stepping
stone toward the Product Goal. Each
Increment is additive to all prior
Increments and thoroughly verified,
ensuring that all Increments work
together. In order to provide value,
the Increment must be usable
[p. 11]
30-11-2020 Massimo Sarti presenta la Scrum Guide 2020 – Agile Talks webinar online
IMPEGNI (COMMITMENTS)
Product Goal
The Product Goal describes a future
state of the product which can serve
as a target for the Scrum Team to
plan against.
The Product Goal is the long-term
objective for the Scrum Team. They
must fulfill (or abandon) one
objective before taking on the next.
[p.11]
Sprint Goal
The Sprint Goal is the single objective
for the Sprint.
The Sprint Goal also creates
coherence and focus, encouraging
the Scrum Team to work together
rather than on separate initiatives.
[p. 11]
Definition of Done
The Definition of Done is a formal
description of the state of the Increment
when it meets the quality measures
required for the product.
If a Product Backlog item does not meet
the Definition of Done, it cannot be
released or even presented at the Sprint
Review. Instead, it returns to the Product
Backlog for future consideration.
[p. 12]
Each artifact contains a commitment to ensure it provides information that enhances transparency
and focus against which progress can be measured [p. 10]
30-11-2020 Massimo Sarti presenta la Scrum Guide 2020 – Agile Talks webinar online
RILASCI DEL PRODOTTO
The entire Scrum Team is accountable for creating a valuable, useful
Increment every Sprint. [p. 5]
Developers are the people in the Scrum Team that are committed to creating
any aspect of a usable Increment each Sprint. [p. 5]
In order to provide value, the Increment must be usable. [p. 11]
Multiple Increments may be created within a Sprint. The sum of the Increments
is presented at the Sprint Review thus supporting empiricism. However, an
Increment may be delivered to stakeholders prior to the end of the Sprint. The
Sprint Review should never be considered a gate to releasing value. [p. 12]

EVENTI
SEMPRE CINQUE!
30-11-2020 Massimo Sarti presenta la Scrum Guide 2020 – Agile Talks webinar online
SPRINT PLANNING
Sprint Planning initiates the Sprint by laying out the work to be performed for
the Sprint. This resulting plan is created by the collaborative work of the entire
Scrum Team.
The Product Owner ensures that attendees are prepared to discuss the most
important Product Backlog items and how they map to the Product Goal. The
Scrum Team may also invite other people to attend Sprint Planning to provide
advice.
Topic One: Why is this Sprint valuable?
Topic Two: What can be Done this Sprint?
Topic Three: How will the chosen work get done?

LE 3 DOMANDE DEL DAILY
30-11-2020 Massimo Sarti presenta la Scrum Guide 2020 – Agile Talks webinar online
DAILY SCRUM
The purpose of the Daily Scrum is to inspect progress toward the Sprint Goal
and adapt the Sprint Backlog as necessary, adjusting the upcoming planned
work.
The Developers can select whatever structure and techniques they want, as
long as their Daily Scrum focuses on progress toward the Sprint Goal and
produces an actionable plan for the next day of work. This creates focus and
improves self-management.
The Daily Scrum is not the only time Developers are allowed to adjust their
plan.
[p. 9]
30-11-2020 Massimo Sarti presenta la Scrum Guide 2020 – Agile Talks webinar online
SPRINT
REVIEW
The purpose of the Sprint Review is to inspect
the outcome of the Sprint and determine
future adaptations. The Scrum Team presents
the results of their work to key stakeholders
and progress toward the Product Goal is
discussed.
the Scrum Team and stakeholders review
what was accomplished in the Sprint and
what has changed in their environment.
Based on this information, attendees
collaborate on what to do next. The Product
Backlog may also be adjusted to meet new
opportunities. The Sprint Review is a working
session and the Scrum Team should avoid
limiting it to a presentation.
[p. 9]
30-11-2020 Massimo Sarti presenta la Scrum Guide 2020 – Agile Talks webinar online
SPRINT
RETROSPECTIVE
The purpose of the Sprint Retrospective is to
plan ways to increase quality and
effectiveness.
The Scrum Team inspects how the last Sprint
went with regards to individuals, interactions,
processes, tools, and their Definition of Done.
The Scrum Team identifies the most helpful
changes to improve its effectiveness. The
most impactful improvements are addressed
as soon as possible. They may even be
added to the Sprint Backlog for the next
Sprint.
[p. 10]
30-11-2020 Massimo Sarti presenta la Scrum Guide 2020 – Agile Talks webinar online
IN CONCLUSIONE
The Scrum framework is purposefully incomplete,
only defining the parts required to implement Scrum
theory.
Scrum is built upon by the collective intelligence of
the people using it.
Rather than provide people with detailed
instructions, the rules of Scrum guide their
relationships and interactions.

  • 6. 30-11-2020 Massimo Sarti presenta la Scrum Guide 2020 – Agile Talks webinar online L'IMPOSTAZIONE GENERALE RIMANE UGUALE ALLA GUIDA 2017, E: • DIVENTA MENO PRESCRITTIVA E PIÙ "MAGRA" • PIÙ GENERALISTA, FOCALIZZATA ALLA RISOLUZIONE DI PROBLEMI COMPLESSI • SI FOCALIZZA SU UN TEAM UNICO, LO SCRUM TEAM • DEFINISCE MEGLIO ALCUNI "OGGETTI" GIÀ ESISTENTI • INTRODUCE IL PRODUCT GOAL
  • 7. 30-11-2020 Massimo Sarti presenta la Scrum Guide 2020 – Agile Talks webinar online SCRUM IN POCHE PAROLE Scrum is a lightweight framework that helps people, teams and organizations generate value through adaptive solutions for complex problems. [p. 3]

  • 10. 30-11-2020 Massimo Sarti presenta la Scrum Guide 2020 – Agile Talks webinar online EMPIRISMO TRASPARENZA, ISPEZIONE E ADATTAMENTO
  • 11. 30-11-2020 Massimo Sarti presenta la Scrum Guide 2020 – Agile Talks webinar online EMPIRISMO TRASPARENZA The emergent process and work must be visible to those performing the work as well as those receiving the work. Artifacts that have low transparency can lead to decisions that diminish value and increase risk. Transparency enables inspection. Inspection without transparency is misleading and wasteful [pp. 3-4] ISPEZIONE The Scrum artifacts and the progress toward agreed goals must be inspected frequently and diligently to detect potentially undesirable variances or problems. To help with inspection, Scrum provides cadence in the form of its five events. Inspection enables adaptation. Inspection without adaptation is considered pointless. Scrum events are designed to provoke change. [p. 3] ADATTAMENTO If any aspects of a process deviate outside acceptable limits or if the resulting product is unacceptable, the process being applied or the materials being produced must be adjusted. The adjustment must be made as soon as possible to minimize further deviation. Adaptation becomes more difficult when the people involved are not empowered or self-managing. [p. 3]
  • 12. 30-11-2020 Massimo Sarti presenta la Scrum Guide 2020 – Agile Talks webinar online SONDAGGIO
  • 13. 30-11-2020 Massimo Sarti presenta la Scrum Guide 2020 – Agile Talks webinar online DEFINIZIONE DI PRODOTTO A product is a vehicle to deliver value. It has • a clear boundary, • known stakeholders, • well-defined users or customers. A product could be a service, a physical product, or something more abstract. [p. 12]
  • 14. 30-11-2020 Massimo Sarti presenta la Scrum Guide 2020 – Agile Talks webinar online UN TEAM, LO SCRUM TEAM 2017 The Scrum Team consists of a Product Owner, the Development Team, and a Scrum Master. Scrum Teams are self- organizing and cross-functional. Self- organizing teams choose how best to accomplish their work, rather than being directed by others outside the team. Cross-functional teams have all competencies needed to accomplish the work without depending on others not part of the team. [p. 6] 2020 The fundamental unit of Scrum is a small team of people, a Scrum Team. The Scrum Team consists of one Scrum Master, one Product Owner, and Developers. Within a Scrum Team, there are no sub-teams or hierarchies. It is a cohesive unit of professionals focused on one objective at a time, the Product Goal. Scrum Teams are cross-functional, meaning the members have all the skills necessary to create value each Sprint. They are also self-managing, meaning they internally decide who does what, when, and how. [p. 5]
  • 15. 30-11-2020 Massimo Sarti presenta la Scrum Guide 2020 – Agile Talks webinar online ACCOUNTABILITIES The entire Scrum Team is accountable for creating a valuable, useful Increment every Sprint. Scrum defines three specific accountabilities within the Scrum Team: the Developers, the Product Owner, and the Scrum Master. Developers Developers are the people in the Scrum Team that are committed to creating any aspect of a usable Increment each Sprint. Product Owner The Product Owner is accountable for maximizing the value of the product resulting from the work of the Scrum Team. Scrum Master The Scrum Master is accountable for establishing Scrum as defined in the Scrum Guide. The Scrum Master is accountable for the Scrum Team’s effectiveness [ pp. 5-6]
  • 16. 30-11-2020 Massimo Sarti presenta la Scrum Guide 2020 – Agile Talks webinar online SERVANT LEADERSHIP 2017 The Scrum Master is a servant-leader for the Scrum Team. The Scrum Master helps those outside the Scrum Team understand which of their interactions with the Scrum Team are helpful and which aren’t. The Scrum Master helps everyone change these interactions to maximize the value created by the Scrum Team. [p. 7] 2020 Scrum Masters are true leaders who serve the Scrum Team and the larger organization. The Scrum Master serves the Scrum Team, … the Product Owner and … the organization in several ways. [p. 6-7] The Scrum Master is accountable for the Scrum Team’s effectiveness. [p. 6]
  • 17. 30-11-2020 Massimo Sarti presenta la Scrum Guide 2020 – Agile Talks webinar online ARTEFATTI SEMPRE TRE!
  • 18. 30-11-2020 Massimo Sarti presenta la Scrum Guide 2020 – Agile Talks webinar online ARTEFATTI Product Backlog The Product Backlog is an emergent, ordered list of what is needed to improve the product. It is the single source of work undertaken by the Scrum Team. Product Backlog items that can be Done by the Scrum Team within one Sprint are deemed ready for selection in a Sprint Planning event. They usually acquire this degree of transparency after refining activities. [p.10] Sprint Backlog The Sprint Goal, the Product Backlog items selected for the Sprint, plus the plan for delivering them are together referred to as the Sprint Backlog [p. 9] The Sprint Backlog is a plan by and for the Developers. It is a highly visible, real-time picture of the work that the Developers plan to accomplish during the Sprint in order to achieve the Sprint Goal. [p. 11] Increment An Increment is a concrete stepping stone toward the Product Goal. Each Increment is additive to all prior Increments and thoroughly verified, ensuring that all Increments work together. In order to provide value, the Increment must be usable [p. 11]
  • 19. 30-11-2020 Massimo Sarti presenta la Scrum Guide 2020 – Agile Talks webinar online IMPEGNI (COMMITMENTS) Product Goal The Product Goal describes a future state of the product which can serve as a target for the Scrum Team to plan against. The Product Goal is the long-term objective for the Scrum Team. They must fulfill (or abandon) one objective before taking on the next. [p.11] Sprint Goal The Sprint Goal is the single objective for the Sprint. The Sprint Goal also creates coherence and focus, encouraging the Scrum Team to work together rather than on separate initiatives. [p. 11] Definition of Done The Definition of Done is a formal description of the state of the Increment when it meets the quality measures required for the product. If a Product Backlog item does not meet the Definition of Done, it cannot be released or even presented at the Sprint Review. Instead, it returns to the Product Backlog for future consideration. [p. 12] Each artifact contains a commitment to ensure it provides information that enhances transparency and focus against which progress can be measured [p. 10]
  • 20. 30-11-2020 Massimo Sarti presenta la Scrum Guide 2020 – Agile Talks webinar online RILASCI DEL PRODOTTO The entire Scrum Team is accountable for creating a valuable, useful Increment every Sprint. [p. 5] Developers are the people in the Scrum Team that are committed to creating any aspect of a usable Increment each Sprint. [p. 5] In order to provide value, the Increment must be usable. [p. 11] Multiple Increments may be created within a Sprint. The sum of the Increments is presented at the Sprint Review thus supporting empiricism. However, an Increment may be delivered to stakeholders prior to the end of the Sprint. The Sprint Review should never be considered a gate to releasing value. [p. 12]
  • 21. 30-11-2020 Massimo Sarti presenta la Scrum Guide 2020 – Agile Talks webinar online EVENTI SEMPRE CINQUE!
  • 22. 30-11-2020 Massimo Sarti presenta la Scrum Guide 2020 – Agile Talks webinar online SPRINT PLANNING Sprint Planning initiates the Sprint by laying out the work to be performed for the Sprint. This resulting plan is created by the collaborative work of the entire Scrum Team. The Product Owner ensures that attendees are prepared to discuss the most important Product Backlog items and how they map to the Product Goal. The Scrum Team may also invite other people to attend Sprint Planning to provide advice. Topic One: Why is this Sprint valuable? Topic Two: What can be Done this Sprint? Topic Three: How will the chosen work get done?
  • 23. 30-11-2020 Massimo Sarti presenta la Scrum Guide 2020 – Agile Talks webinar online LE 3 DOMANDE DEL DAILY
  • 24. 30-11-2020 Massimo Sarti presenta la Scrum Guide 2020 – Agile Talks webinar online DAILY SCRUM The purpose of the Daily Scrum is to inspect progress toward the Sprint Goal and adapt the Sprint Backlog as necessary, adjusting the upcoming planned work. The Developers can select whatever structure and techniques they want, as long as their Daily Scrum focuses on progress toward the Sprint Goal and produces an actionable plan for the next day of work. This creates focus and improves self-management. The Daily Scrum is not the only time Developers are allowed to adjust their plan. [p. 9]
  • 25. 30-11-2020 Massimo Sarti presenta la Scrum Guide 2020 – Agile Talks webinar online SPRINT REVIEW The purpose of the Sprint Review is to inspect the outcome of the Sprint and determine future adaptations. The Scrum Team presents the results of their work to key stakeholders and progress toward the Product Goal is discussed. the Scrum Team and stakeholders review what was accomplished in the Sprint and what has changed in their environment. Based on this information, attendees collaborate on what to do next. The Product Backlog may also be adjusted to meet new opportunities. The Sprint Review is a working session and the Scrum Team should avoid limiting it to a presentation. [p. 9]
  • 26. 30-11-2020 Massimo Sarti presenta la Scrum Guide 2020 – Agile Talks webinar online SPRINT RETROSPECTIVE The purpose of the Sprint Retrospective is to plan ways to increase quality and effectiveness. The Scrum Team inspects how the last Sprint went with regards to individuals, interactions, processes, tools, and their Definition of Done. The Scrum Team identifies the most helpful changes to improve its effectiveness. The most impactful improvements are addressed as soon as possible. They may even be added to the Sprint Backlog for the next Sprint. [p. 10]
  • 27. 30-11-2020 Massimo Sarti presenta la Scrum Guide 2020 – Agile Talks webinar online IN CONCLUSIONE The Scrum framework is purposefully incomplete, only defining the parts required to implement Scrum theory. Scrum is built upon by the collective intelligence of the people using it. Rather than provide people with detailed instructions, the rules of Scrum guide their relationships and interactions. [p. 3]
