AAS Personal Statement
It is safe to say that I have been dispensing free fashion advice to friends and family before I can even
remember. I have a profound interest in how clothing can tell a story about an individual or even a
brand. Personally, I believe the way we demonstrate style and interpret fashion is highly reflective of
our personalities, what we have been doing and where we have been, it s a form of personal
perception and self expression. Being given the opportunity to blend my obsession in fashion products
and story telling combined with marketing strategies is something that really fascinates me. This is
what intrigued me and finally led me to my applying for the AAS in Fashion Marketing at Parsons.
My desire in arts arouse from a young age, during my secondary school career in Johannesburg South
Africa, I dedicated myself to as many creative extra circular activities as I could. Being the captain of
my dance crew and a committed member of the drama club (participating in all school productions),

A degree in film and tv was unquestionable for me, that is all I had dreamt about ever since a child.
But it was not till I was in Film school where I learnt there was a piece of the puzzle that was missing.
Living in one of the fashion capitals, with no one to make judgements, my appreciation for fashion
grew at a rapid pace. I had an undying itch to find an outlet that could fill full my growing passion for
the fashion industry and escape the reality of being dissatisfied with the career path I had already
chosen. Without putting the knowledge I gained through my first year at film school to waste,
combined with my passion of storytelling, writing and persistent cravings of exploring fashion I found
my escape and launch my very own fashion, beauty and travel blog Styled

The Great Leap Backward Essay examples
Imagine ruling an empire that s economy and agriculture is growing slowly while at the same time
having a population burst. What would you do? Continue on improving and gaining little or increase
production to try to save the blooming population? This is the situation Mao Zedong, emperor of
China, was forced to face in the 1950 s. So, he made a plan that was suggested to him by the Soviet
Union called the First Five Year Economic Plan; focusing on speeding up the production of agriculture
to increase the economy and decrease nation wide famine. After the 5 years, agricultural resources had
mobilization, and improved efficiency of farming. But Mao did not stop here. He wanted to be the
most advanced nation in the world, and to finally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But that was not enough for Mao; he wanted more of everything. So he continued on and enforced
another Five Year Plan, and this time invested more in agriculture to make a bigger production.
Though he spent more in agriculture, he made labors work in communes for no pay. Their pay was the
commune, which Mao made the state pay for, in which they were given to live in with almost 100 to
200 other people. Therefore, workers had no true incentive to work hard and make more agriculture
gains from which Mao believed they lacked from the first five year plan. Enforcing this many people
to work in communes cause for a wider spread of disease and more people to work a smaller land.
Even though Mao made every farmer and peasant give up their own land to help the state, there was
still and overflow of people on strips of land. Since Mao s new agriculture theory of speeding up
production was planting more crops closer together and this overflow of people, causing them to be
more careless and plant crops even closer to each other. This closeness caused roots to cross and kill
other crops. Also caused crops not to get the necessary resources and minerals need to grow and
caused them to just never grow. This killing of crops, set agriculture production plummeting down
causing a nation wide famine and set the economy spiraling down into a recession. Where the prices
for food were overly expensive causing starvation, and millions of deaths from starvation and famine.

PEST ANALYSIS ON TARGET CANADA

GRACE NWACHUKWU.
October, 2014
Business News Daily, 2013 explained PEST Analysis (Political, Economic, Social and Technological
Analysis) as how those external factors can affect a business s activities and performance...
The article further explained that aside the fact that some organizations already have factors affecting
their performance, there are some factors outside the organization that can determine the positive
result of business. For those organizations to determine how those factors outside the organization can
be of positive impact, they decide to conduct a PEST Analysis. In this research, I would be using
TARGET CANADA as a case study on PEST Analysis.
ABOUT TARGET CANADA.
Target Canada. Co is the Canadian subsidiary of United States based discount department store chain
Target Corporation which was formed in 2011 to oversee the company s Canadian operations. Target
Canada s main rival in the Discount store is Walmart, while there is also competition with supermarket
chains such as Loblaws, Metro and Sobeys (despite having agreement with Sobeys) and other retailers

Pablo Picasso Cubism Essay
YEAR 10 MAJOR CRITICAL ANALYSIS TASK
YEAR 10 MAJOR CRITICAL ANALYSIS TASK
CRITICAL TASK ANALYSIS
Step 1: Description
Pablo Picasso is a widely acknowledged Spanish artist in the twentieth century. He was born in
Malaga, Spain in 1881.Cubism was the first style of abstract art which evolved at the beginning of the
20th century in response to a world that was changing with unprecedented speed. In 1909, Picasso
used cubism influenced by Paul Cezanne created an artwork called The Factory at Horta de Ebro . The
painting is a cluster of three dimensional buildings and a wide range of colour tones. In the image the
foreground displays an uneven cube with a path of the tones of green blended in with the orange and

There are inconsistent light coming from all directions in the painting. I can see that the dark green
leaves from the big and tall trees in the background of the painting have had pressure put against it. It
makes the leaves of the tree stand out because of the pressure put into it, making it different from other
objects. The lines of each object are straight and made to look realistic but not realistic enough. The
shading of the colours is well blended and the outline of every shape in the artwork is clearly seen
through the contrasting. There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot, but there are also
others who, thanks to their art and intelligence, transform the yellow spot into the sun . Pablo Picasso.
In each object there are many colours combined and blended together but you can still see the colours
trying to blend in. The focal point of this artwork is the uneven pentagonal prism with many different
tones of colours used. Overall, it depends on where the eye lands first because there are three objects
that stood out in this painting. In the foreground there is the half the uneven cube. In the middle is the
uneven pentagonal prism and in the background is the tall and thin building. Picasso has created
excellent paintings and so is this fine artwork.
Step 3: Interpretation Until Cubism, all art, all pictures, could be read by anybody. If this hadn t been
so, the Christian message wouldn t have been seen by

the market, there are many brands for customers to choose: Vinamilk, Dutch Lady, TH Milk, Bavi
Milk, Dalat Milk, Vixumilk, etc. facing with many different milk products, what do the consumers do
to select the products? First, that is to determine the characters and uniqueness of the brand. If the firm
wants TH Milk Vinamilk to position the brand on the fresh milk market, the firm must do a survey to
see what consumers say when it comes to the Vinamilk brand. The firm needs to create a survey
questionnaire to send to the customers. The results may reveal valuable information about how to
improve the functionality of the product or errors in the products. After obtaining the information,
Vinamilk will sketch the brand diagrams to know their position on the market compared to other
competitors.

The Great Depression In The United States During The 1920 s
during the 1920 s to a point that most industries were making so much of everything that there was a
limit to that amount that could be sold.
This was also compounded with a sense of isolationism that most Americans had during this time that
led to protective tariffs that were enacted. Goods coming into the U.S. from around the world were so
expensive that most Americans would not/could not buy them. This in turn hurt the other economies
and limited the amount of American goods that they could purchase. Thus, more overproduction.
Speculation by not only individuals but banks also led to the Depression. Individuals did not buy
stocks to improve or invest in a company but to delve into the market just long enough to make a
profit. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In itself this was a terrible event, but from which recovery was possible. The problem was there were
too many other variables that were working against the US at the same time (the ones I listed above).
When all of these events happened the US tried to call in loans from around the world but it was too
late. The economic crisis had become one that was no longer bound to the confines of the US.
The way the Great Depression ended is not as easy to pinpoint. The New Deal established by Franklin
Roosevelt was instrumental in returning a sense of security to the citizens of the US. Bank Holidays
gave the American people time to cool off and calm themselves about the turbulent banking crisis.
This helped to stop bank runs which had shut down many banks.
Implementation of the many programs of the New Deal also helped the economy. The FDIC
(Insurance on bank deposits), the CCC (Jobs for young unemployed men to work on national parks),
the SSA (social security for disabled and elderly), TVA (provided jobs, water and electricity to
underprivileged Southern areas) and several other programs gave hope to the American people. There
was still much that needed to be done and Roosevelt had many

Early Intervention Research Paper
It seems to me that the logical response to educating any child is early intervention. There are many
subjects within our reading that were astonishing to me however the most surprising was that
kindergarten is not actually mandatory in most states, Vermont included. Early education is important
in providing a successful future for our children therefore, this is notable. I understand that people
have different theories about how early education should be applied and the freedom for parents to
decide how to do so is important nevertheless, parents also need to be educated on their options plus
successfulness of those option and theories. Theories being another topic that can be overwhelming.

The World Trade Organization implements and facilitates trade between countries. Their aim is to help

creating agreements between countries that help to encourage trade and make trade easier. They help
in settling disputes or problems between member countries anytime it develops. I chose this topic

According to an article called Developing Countries and the WTO which was edited by Gary P.
Sampson and W. Bradnee Chambers, they talk about the WTO, its aim and their main functions. They
start by saying that The goal of a world trading system centered on the World Trade Organization
(WTO) is for multilaterally agreed law, coupled with the progressive liberalization of trade, to the
basis for international trade relations (Sampson, Chambers). This basically sums up the aim of the
WTO, they are in charge of creating free and fair trade and making sure that each and every country is
being treated well, both those countries that are big in the trade market and those that are small, there
is also no discrimination and each and every rule and regulation created is accepted by all the
members of the WTO. One of the problems that have been encountered is the high tariffs that are
being put on goods that are imported from other countries. The article mentions that because of high
tariffs on many products, a compromise agreement with the exclusions sought for sensitive and special
farm products would significantly decrease the gains from reform (Sampson, Chambers). The article
also talks about how the four African countries namely, Chad, Benin, Burkina Faso and Mali use
cotton as their main means of export, the importance of this trade and also how the market price for
cotton is reducing and this might become a problem for

Professional Writing Reflection
.
This course has afforded me the ability to improve my professional writing skills in the working field.
The various writing assignments from the first assignment of writing a memo to the final assignment
of a nursing exemplar has been a challenge. The learnings of a variety of elements that go alone with
professional writing has heighten my knowledge and skills of writing. The remainder of this paper
will give readers a view of what and how the writing assignments assisted me with this skill.
The learning I received from memo writing assignment would be to assure they are short, direct and
remain within inside the company; anything longer than a page the reader loses interest. The
assignment of composing a meeting agenda was one of my most pleasurable assignments, although it
carried some complicatedness for me. I have never been required to formulate a professional agenda
in my career; so, therefore, it required a lot of effort. In my opinion, the best element of the
assignment was devising discussion question. Formulating these questions caused me to think
critically and bring about my creativity. I do feel the need to continue practicing this skill in view of
the fact that I have never been required to draw one up, and will possibly be experiencing this in the
future. Therefore, I will continue to perfect this skill. With this assignment, I have learned how to
create a professional agenda and how to integrate nursing literature into a professional meeting. The
job research journal was one of my best learned assignments. I thoroughly enjoyed the research
portion, identifying each job mission and values and noting if they align with those of my own values.
This also allowed me to profoundly research the advantages and benefits of the top two jobs chosen.
This assignment I will carry throughout my career. For the resume and cover letter assignment, there
wasn t much new information for me to learn as I was very familiar with the contents of a resume and
cover letter. However, with this being so, I will continue to remember the significance of a resume and
will continue to utilize them throughout my career. The mock interview and elevator speech will be
very beneficial in my upcoming career; it will permit me

In oligopoly market, each firm has substantial market power with high degree of interdependence. The
key for success in a oligopoly market is to gain more market share than the competitors. Increasing the
price can lead to loss of market share to the competitors, so in the oligopoly market, if a firm
decreases the price, the other firms will always follow, but if a firm increase the price, the other firms
will not follow. The demand curve is kinked. However, lowering the price decreases the overall profit
of the market thus, non price competition is most important win win strategy for all the firm. As the

Argumentative Essay On Corn Ethanol
In 2005, federal mandates were placed to encourage the use of biofuel (Bullis). Biofuels can come
from many different sources, like sugar for example (Tyner et al. i), but the most prominent and most
controversial biofuel is corn ethanol. In 2007, President Bush (Bullis) expanded the quotas on ethanol
with the Energy Independency and Security Act (Tyner et al. i). Although there are other biofuels,
legislature has established ethanol as an additive to traditional petroleum based automobile fuels. Corn
ethanol is controversial because many believe that it is not more efficient than fossil fuels and raises
the price of food since livestock or humans could eat it.
Professor Don Hofstrand at Iowa State University says ...a 100 million gallon ethanol biorefinery will
reduce [greenhouse gas] emissions by approximately 400,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide
equivalents per year. Although ethanol requires greenhouse gases to be emitted for production, ethanol
fuel s net emissions are fifty four percent less than gasoline. Half of the emissions related to producing
ethanol are related to growing crops, while the other half is contributed to refining the fuel
(Hofstrand). The burning and production of ethanol combined has a smaller carbon footprint than
petroleum fuels. This makes it a good fuel substitution while even greener forms of energy are
developed to power automobiles and machinery. Reduced greenhouse gases can help slow climate
change.

Microscopy Essay
The resolution of optical microscopes is fundamentally limited by the diffraction of light, as
postulated by German physicist Ernst Abbe in 1873. This means that a microscope cannot distinguish
two objects located closer than λ/2NA, where λ is the wavelength of light and NA is the numerical
aperture of the imaging lens (2). Although elucidation of cell functions and subcellular processes has
benefited from advances in fluorescent microscopy, this diffraction limit has fundamentally hindered
optical microscopy for over a century (1). Recently, however, several new developments in imaging
have emerged which can circumvent this limit. By delivering optical images with spatial resolutions
below the diffraction limit super resolution microscopy techniques now permits biologists to visualize
structures and processes of cells at the molecular level, down to several nanometers. This incredible
improvement in spatial resolution has allowed biologists to address important new questions requiring
resolutions below 250nm, involving details such as the fine architecture of cell structures, focal
adhesions, microtubules, and coated vesicles. Internal dynamic processes can also now be studied,
including the movement of focal adhesion complexes and bacteria polarity complexes (3). Super
resolution techniques used for live cell imaging studies can generally be divided into three categories:
those based on highly localized fluorescence emission volumes; those based on structured
illumination;

Essay On Jacob Riis
Jacob
Riis was born on May 3, 1849 in Ribe, Denmark and later immigrated to the
United States in 1870 at the age of 21. When he arrived in New York city he had a total of only $40
and a locket that he had for as long as he can remember
(study.com). He did a lot of odd jobs around the city to earn just enough money to get by. Soon there
later he became a police reporter and found an interest in the things that he saw. So he taught himself
some photography skills and took a camera with him every time that he walked the streets. His belief
was that a picture was worth 1,000 words so experimenting in the new field of photography. He

He believed that it was morally wrong to have children in the work force epically one s working with
such harsh and dangerous conditions. So he protested and fought to get companies to get rid of all
child workers that they have employed. He had a humongous impact on the child laborers in the
United states. His stance was that a child should experience childhood and have fun because it was the
only chance they will have. Childhood was definitely not trying to be an adult in the work force to
help their family survive. After all, they got paid less than half of the adults and had to fix the small
parts on dangerous machinery because, they were the only ones small enough to do the job. This was a
terrible thought for Riis to imagine so he did what he had to do.
Jacob Riis also had very strong religious beliefs that he followed throughout his lifetime. Before Riis
moved to the United States, his family was Lutheran but as he started to form his own opinion, he
converted over to Methodist (New York Times). These beliefs strongly influenced everything that he
did. He was a very persistent person and attacked to prove a point especially when it came to his

The Oregon Trail Essay example
The Oregon Trail
The Oregon Trail was a very important aspect in the history of our country s development. When
Marcus and Narcissa Whitman made the first trip along the Oregon Trail, many Americans saw a
window of opportunity. The Oregon Trail was the only practical way to pass through the Rockies.
Pioneers crammed themselves into small wagons to try to make it to the unsettled land; however, 10%
of these pioneers died on the way due to disease and accidents.
The journey along the Oregon Trail was a very long and rough experience. Stretching out to almost a
whopping 2000 miles it usually took the pioneers 4 6 months travelling at 12 to 16 miles per hour.
Throughout this journey the pioneers had to battle with cholera, poor ... Show more content on

The role of the Native Americans during the time of the Oregon Trail was a very important one. The
first section of the Oregon Trail bisected two major Native American tribes, these were the Cheyenne
to the north and the Pawnee to the south. Many of the travelers feared attacks by these tribes but were
surprised when they were allowed to pass unharmed. The Native Americans were the opposite of what
was expected of them. They were very helpful to the travelers. They often helped travelers pull out
stuck wagons, rescue drowning travelers, and even round up lost cattle. Native Americans also acted
as guides, carried messages between wagon trains, traded with the travelers, and even helped some
travelers cross Indian land.
Most of the encounters with the Native Americans were simple business transactions. Travelers traded
clothing, rifles, and tobacco products in exchange for horses and food. However, many travelers
complained that the Native Americans charged expensive tolls for crossing their lands. Conflicts
between the Indians and the travelers were pretty rare. Out of the 500,000 people to travel along the
Oregon Trail fewer than 400 pioneers lost their lives due to attacks. When the travelers had overgrazed
the prairie grasses, burned all the available firewood, and killed all the herds of buffalo attacks were
expected by the travelers. In order to

As of now, there is no vaccines or medications to eradicate the zika virus. However, Inovio
Pharmaceuticals are in the progress of working on a vaccine for the zike virus (Fellner, 2016). There
are methods to help decrease an individual of contacting the virus. Since the zika virus can be spread
by sexual contact, men and women should adhere to strict guidelines to prevent transmission of the
virus. The CDC advise men that traveled or resided in an active zika infected area, the men should
avoid having sexual contact with the spouse or use latex condoms during any sexual contact.
Individuals that are exposed to the zika virus should not donate blood. In the environmental efforts, all
efforts to remove mosquitos breeding sites are encouraged. For example, buckets and pots should be
evacuated and washed on a daily basis or covered. Gutters or recycled tires needed to cleaned or
removed, if feasible. Insect repellents that have DEET, IR3535, or icaridin are recommended during

Hometown Morning By Thomas Kinkade
In 2000, Thomas Kinkade, the Painter of Light, created Hometown Morning, which is an oil painting
on canvas. This painting is part of the Hometown Memories collection as he paints different scenes
from his childhood growing up. Hometown Morning is a painting of a street in Placerville, California
that is full of life. It is a small community with people walking down the sidewalk and everyone and
everything just seems peaceful. Since the original has been sold, the last location of the painting was
at The Thomas Kinkade Museum in Monterey, California. The use of melancholic colors are shown as
it is a dim setting as the sun begins to rise over the city street. However, the only vibrant color used
throughout the piece is a bright gold yellow to illuminate the insides of the homes through the
windows. Kinkade s use of complementary colors are visible throughout. Different shades of yellow
and blue are seen as there is yellow in the sky and also blue on the street. There are more cold colors
than warm colors since the setting is in the morning and during the winter after it has rained. The
people are dressed in winter clothes and some even have scarves on. Kinkade uses directional line to
direct our attention to what is going on as our eyes go down the street. There is not an actual diagonal
line that makes the road smaller, but the use of grass and the sidewalks does the trick. The people in
the foreground are headed down the street leading the viewer s eyes head the same

Queen Matilda Of England And The Marriage Table A Dowry Of...
Queen Matilda of England brought to the marriage table a dowry of estates. While, she did not grant
William great wealth, she did possess great wealth of her own. Roughly one fourth of the wealth of
Matilda and William belonged to Matilda. She presented her husband with the ship the Mora as a
symbol of her approval of his conquest of England. Matilda, being well educated and capable, served
as regent of Normandy while her husband was away in England. Matilda made the journey to England
in 1068 where she was crowned Queen of England. Matilda, like many queens of her time, actively
participated in government. Roughly one hundred charters bear Matilda s name, suggesting that she
occasionally maintained full responsibility of Normandy in her husband s absence. Matilda became a
wealthy landowner in England, where she held lands in the counties of Surrey, Hampshire, Wiltshire,
Dorset, Devon, Cornwall, Buckinghamshire, and Gloucestershire. She maintained contact with her
family in Flanders and even provided William with Flemish men for his army. She was also a key
player in King William s rule of England, hearing land pleas and negotiating with nobles. Matilda
played a lesser role in foreign politics than her husband. She did, however, maintain contacts with the
Church. She sent gifts to French abbots and German hermits along with open contact with Pope
Gregory VII. Pope Gregory VII encouraged Matilda to bring her husband closer to the church where

Comparison Of Gen X And Y Generation
Generations As I grew up I realized that my life is very different from the life that my parents and my
grandparents lived and probably will be different from the life my children will live. Some people say
that every generation is different from each other. Throughout history many generation have been
named after something that it s said to describe them in every way, Tim Urban called the generation I
live in the Generation Y or GYPSY s. The generation my parents lived in was called Generation X or
Baby Boomers. The Gen X and Y are very different in some aspects while in other they are very
similar. For many people the normal five milestones of adulthood are completing school, leaving
home, becoming financially independent, marring and having a child (Henig) in that order, but the
people in generation Y have a different way of viewing those milestones. People in the Y generation
stopped marring early and having babies and became more focused on their careers, while others
choose to leave school for work, some never have children or are unable to, some never leave home or
return home after some time and some never achieve all the five milestones. During my parents
generation in Brazil it was normal for people to return to their parents house (Fischer) and stay there
until they get married or start a new family, different from generation Y the education was very
important so not many people left school. Most people in the Baby boomers generation kept the same

Reviewing Epistolary Literature, as it relates to the New Testament consists of twenty one writings
that display the formal features of a letter to varying degrees, along with letters embedded within other
books. Since this literature was written primarily during the first century C.E., it mirrors the formal
features of Hellenistic epistolary writing. Letter writing in Hellenism followed a stereotypical form:
The Epistles were generally written in the form of: 1) Opening or Prescript. This consists of three
parts; the author s name, the addressee s name, and a greeting. 2) Body. The purpose of the letter is
elaborated. 3) Closing. Usually consists of a final greeting. The letters expressed a relationship of
friendship between two parties and was to have a certain presence about it, substituting for the actual
presence of the writer. Thus, a person would write to someone as if he or she were present . To see this
format, the reader can review Philemon. The reader can see these points outlined. In Philemon:
Opening or Prescript v.1a Paul prisoner of Christ Jesus Timothy our brother. To Philemon, Apphia,
Archippus, house church. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ
Body v8 10 appeal on behalf of Onesimus Conclusion: v22 prepare a guest room. In this example,

Indonesia and Philippines have similarities yet very different political system even though there are

where you ended up in life. High school counselors, teachers, parents, and mentors all emphasized that
the better the college you attend the more opportunities you ll have. Being a high school senior and
having to think seriously about the future now, I applied for many schools and landed at Utah Valley
University, a great feeder school for Brigham Young University. I attended Utah Valley University for

been enrolled at coastline for about a month and can see the likenesses and the differences between the
university life and the community college life. I can see no college is alike, and that doesn t mean one
college is better than another. It took transferring to a community college to see that not even a

Cultural Differences And Diversity Of The Australian Media
The Australian media plays a prominent role in influencing the way society makes sense of the world
and its relations with others through portraying certain dominant discourses of politics, cultures and

experienced within multicultural Australia. This essay will discuss the discourses that are prevalent in
commercial and non commercial television about cultural differences and diversity, and how this can

When commercial television is discussing and prevailing such dominant discourses about ideas of
marriage, terrorism, socio economic statuses, mental health, politics and other cultures, it has the
ability to disempower difference through only explaining these issues from one view point of view or
a singular representation. This constant widespread negative coverage of minorities or other cultures
can misguide Australian attitudes and viewpoints, to further reaffirm certain prejudices or biases by
only being exposed to the negative actions of a group (Jacobs Kershen 2011). This Symbolic violence
can describe minorities in a way that leaves them voiceless, ignored and condemned through media
and the views of larger society (Venzo Hess 2013). When ethnic minorities are shown in a prominent
role on commercial television or a news segment, it is usually in relation to crime and disorder or from
being a perceived social threat to the Australian culture or way of life (Phillips 2011). Although all
broadcasting media need to follow protocols within their policies to avoid representing ethnic and
religious communities in ways that are discriminatory within their practice, it is still conducted in a
way that disempowers these communities and maintains the prejudices against them (Phillips 2011).

Similarities Between Buck And White Fang
Buck vs White Fang
What might one read about the survival of the fittest, the law of club and fang, and life in Alaska? The
other is Jack London and he is the man who brought both of these books White Fang and Call of the
wild. In the first points on their lives, they were complete opposites. In the middle, they were in the
same place. Both of the dogs were in a dog sled team. The only difference is that buck was in the back
of the sled, and then he had to fight for the leader of the dog sled team. White Fang was the leader in
the first place because everyone knows how strong he was as a leader, they did not know that about
Buck. At the end, White Fang was in the city in California, where Buck was first, then goes into the
wild where White Fang was born and raised.(London, 1979) The first theme is the law of club and
fang. It would come if he fought other dogs that you were supposed to in the wild. The only way they
do not get beat is if one dog gets away really fast and escapes so it does not get caught. That is exactly
what White Fang did. If one of the dogs gets knocked off its feet in that fight it will be there next meal
and this was the law of the fang. The club was if he or she get caught then you will get beaten. The
law club and fang really affected White Fang. He found out that if your god doesn t give the
punishment then the dog can fight back and if it is your god then he can fight it. So he got real mean at
everything. It got even worse when Beauty took him.

The Republic By Plato Vs. Plato
The Republic by Plato is an vision of an utopian society established through the character of Socrates.
Many aspects of Plato s society appears utopian; however, it can also be viewed dystopian as it is
mere subjectiveness. Many of Plato s arguments apply to current day society; for example, Donald
Trump s rise to power depicts democracy degenerating to despotism. Plato s Republic is utopian in
idealistic terms because the most qualified individual is in charge of society who is able to extend his
ideals to the subjects through education; however, when the ideals are integrated into practical terms,
it creates a totalitarian society due to a lack of freedom, individualism, and morality.

Through this plan, a philosopher king will be able to forge perfect individuals that heaven can approve
; therefore, he will be able to remove all the evil from human character, creating a society where there

When Plato s Republic is considered in practice, it rapidly degenerates into a dystopian society. Plato s
Republic can be seen as a totalitarian regime destructive of individualism because a philosopher king
makes all the decisions based on his knowledge; consequently, subjects are stripped of the freedom to
make their own decisions. There is no dissenters in Plato s Republic; the philosopher king extends his
views onto the people through education, forcing individuals to abide by his principles. Moreover, in a
practical setting, it can be difficult for a philosopher king to convince the subjects that he is a true
philosopher king; besides a true passion for knowledge and truth, there is nothing distinguishing of a
philosopher king and a despot.
Moreover, although philosopher kings make the objectively correct decision for a state, it is clear that
they do not take into account morality as Plato proposes to rusticate part of a population, so a
philosopher king could start a city from the beginning (Cornford 209). Morality is an important and

During the transition of forming a democratic nation, South Korea was not immediately successful in
creating economic growth. In order to achieve positive changes in the economy, democratization must
be institutionalized. It was difficult for the economy to stabilize since mature institutions that could
guarantee growth were not created. Rather, the government tried to characterize the economy through
fast changes and rapid economic growth, when the government should have taken the time to
institutionalize political and economic systems. It is the building of mature institutions that have
proven to be crucial in policy making and implementing a strong government that can maintain a
consistent economic growth rate. IV. The effects of the Asian Financial Crisis of 1997 on South Korea:
The era of economic growth in South Korea came to a halt in 1997 due to the Asian Financial Crisis
that started in Thailand. By 1997, South Korean banks reached 24 percent of the gross national

chaebol conglomerates were not only bankrupt, but also collected an average debt equity ratio of

The Demonstration Of Leadership By Craig Johnson Essay
Demonstration of Leadership Craig Johnson wrote an article in November 2008 to evaluate the most
controversial tenure of Carly Fiorina, the former Chief Executive Officer of Hewlett Packard (HP),
using the ethical leadership construct. In the article, Johnson generates several questions that relate to
leadership and management practices. The evaluation of HP s former Chief Executive Officer is
influenced by the fact that the company experienced a decline in productivity within a short period
after the CEO entered the organization. Actually, Fiorina entered a largely successful firm and
introduced significant changes within a short time duration, which had considerable impacts on the
firm s operations. The dramatic changes that were introduced within a short time culminated in the
decline of the value of the company s stock within five years and the eventual unceremonious removal
of the CEO. This paper provides a response to the article through examining how it demonstrates
leadership.
Analysis and Discussion As previously mentioned, the article by Craig Johnson examines the rise and
fall of Carly Fiorina, HP s former Chief Executive Officer who was unceremoniously removed
following the tremendous impact that her dramatic changes had on the firm s productivity and success.
At the turn of the millennium, Carleton Fiorina was the most powerful businesswoman in the United
States who rose quickly through the ranks at AT T and Lucent Technologies (Johnson, 2008, p.188).

other career opportunities and has narrowed his search to those found below. Specifically, he is
interested in a job that pays well. Which of the following occupations would you recommend and
why?
For a client that has lost his job as an automobile deal and is interesting in other career opportunities
that pay well I would suggest a mortgage broker. I would suggest a mortgage broker because there is
no experience required, and on the job training is provided. A mortgage broker needs to be able to
understand business, accounting information, and understand financial statements (United States
Department of Labor, 2014). As a automobile dealer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Fairy Tale Conventions
In her collection Kissing the Witch, Emma Donoghue breaks apart and reconstructs the fairy tale by
expertly retelling thirteen classic tales in a manner that subverts both societal conventions and the
conventions of the fairytale genre. In each retelling, Donoghue takes the iconic imagery and basic
premise of a given fairy tale, but twists components of the plot and more richly develops the character
of her heroines often ending with a happily ever after (or not so happily ever after) that is vastly
different from the traditional versions of the tales. In so doing so, she circumvents the social standards
that the established versions of the tale uphold. By definition, fairy tales are stories in constant flux,
but each version of the tale ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the story of Tale of the Shoe progresses, Cinderella becomes increasingly cognizant of her role
within a constructed fairy tale archetype. Before going to the ball for the 3rd time, she claims that she
didn t have to listen to the barking voices to know how the story went, and later comments that the
scene as the prince is about to propose is all very fairy tale (5 6.) Even without directly listening to the
voices and the societal conventions they represent, these instances in which the 4th wall is broken
reveal that Cinderella feels as though she must adhere to the conventions of the archetypal Cinderella
story. By extension, she feels as though she must adhere to the expectations that go along with the
Cinderella narrative namely love and marriage to the prince, thereby limiting her personal freedom
and capacity for action. Yet Cinderella begins to feel that these story conventions and expectations are
shallow. In the description of the 3rd night s ball, Cinderella remarks that the musicians played the
same song over and over while Cinderella herself danced like a clockwork ballerina (6.) The
references of the repeated song and mechanical nature of the dancing gives the scene a sense of
monotony and fakeness, demonstrating Cinderella s discomfort with the pre written steps of the
archetypal Cinderella narrative. As the prince proposes, Cinderella compares him to an actor on a
creating stage, a simile that further exposes him and the whole narrative situation as inorganic as an
actor simply working through the motions of a pre written script. As he speaks, Cinderella claims that
she can see the future in his words, fearing the long procession of years to come and her pre
prescribed future should she marry him. Thus, even

Causes Of The French And Indian War Essay
An Examination of the French and Indian Wars
I.Causes
The initial causes of the French and Indian War are based on the increasing colonization of French and
English settlements throughout the Ohio River Valley area. In the 1750s, British colonists were slowly
expanding territorial settlements into the Ohio River Valley from Virginia. In this manner, the English
were aggressively establishing more land claims and rights for the British government. More so, the
English were cooperating with the local Native American tribes in terms of sharing land rights or
respecting the traditions of the indigenous peoples, which often involved military supports and
resources from the Iroquois tribe. In contrast to this colonial development, the French were also
claiming land rights for settlements in the Ohio River Valley by moving east and southwards from the
Great Lakes and French colonial territories in New France. The French also cooperated with local
indigenous peoples, such as the Huron, to fight the British during this historical period. The Huron
people had a long tradition of trade, and other forms of economic and military cooperation to support
this alliance:
The link that joined most of Canada s Indian nations to the French was not a common faith, but a
common interest in the fur trade. On the even of the French and Indian War, The French government
maintained some forty four fortified Indian trading posts, some protected by a small garrison (Cave
46).
These aspects of colonial were a major part of the French alliance with the Huron, but it was also part
of agreements that the British made with the Iroquois during the 1740s and 1750s. However, the
struggle to dominate the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Examples Of Leadership In Remembering The Titans
In 1971, T.C. Williams High School football team, the Titans, broke racial barriers in Alexandria,
Virginia s schools and communities. Remembering the Titans is a classic true story in which racism
was the key issue of the movie. In the movie, black students were being integrated in T.C. s all white
school and the school district decided to bring in a new head coach, Herman Boone who was black.
Therefore, the district demoted the high school football head coach and hall of famer nominee, Bill
Yoast, who was white. This demotion cause outraged in the school, within the football team and the
community. As the movie progressed, we see racism in uncertainty with one significant leadership
lesson that a common goal and a little trust can bring ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Coach Bill Yoast had a servant leadership style. He was flexible, supportive of the team, confident,
committed and compassionate. He believed that putting emphasis on his player s needs and personal
interests would result in their success. He used his leadership techniques as the to help the team
members use their full potential individually and while working together as a team. Coach Yoast
leadership was one of empowerment and self management. Through the leadership of both Coach
Boone and Coach Yoast, they produced two other leaders Gerry Bertier and Julius Campbell. Both
athletes, Bertier and Campbell were team leaders. Despite the racial tension in the being, after
Gettysburg, they began to inspire their each other and their teammates to the next level. They learned
how to deal the challenges and changes that they have to face and taught others how to develop a
trusting and cooperative relationship. Both young men set aside their prejudice and began to focus on
the team. Their relationship leads to way for most of the team to come together and eventually other
students. The leadership of Bertier and Campbell lead to personal convictions and the need for the
team members to protect each

Hysterectomy In Surgery
New Surgical Technique has Dangerous Side Affects
Over half a million women will undergo hysterectomies this year [according to whom?]. Many of
these surgeries are performed to remove fibroids, as well. These benign growths in the uterus typically
cause pain, bleeding, and other symptoms. There are several techniques used by medical professionals
to perform a hysterectomy and to remove fibroid tumors, but one the power morcellator has raised
serious cause for concern.
The Power Morcellator
The power morcellator is a device that has been used in laparoscopic surgeries over the last 10 years
or so to remove fibroids, the uterus, or both. This procedure is less invasive than an open
hysterectomy with a shorter recovery time for patients, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because it is more invasive, it is attached to six weeks of recovery and a large scar. There is also an
increased rate of complications from blood clots and infections with this surgery.
Vaginal Hysterectomy
This procedure uses the technology of the laparoscope to cut away the uterus, which is then removed
through the vaginal canal. The morcellator is NOT part of this technique. Because there are minimal
incisions, the recovery time is dropped to approximately two weeks. There is decreased rate of clotting
or infection, and 20% of hysterectomies are currently being performed using this technique. This
procedure is not utilized if the patient has an enlarged uterus or extremely large fibroids.
Other Techniques
There are some additional techniques that have been used to rid the uterus of fibroids including
ultrasound surgery and embolization. The ultrasound surgery uses sound waves to heat and destroy
fibroids, while embolization cuts off the blood supply to the fibroids, causing them to shrink and die.
If you are evaluating the different procedures for a hysterectomy or fibroid removal, we encourage
you to carefully consider your options and the risks

Continue on improving and gaining little or increase production to try to save the blooming population? This is the situation Mao Zedong, emperor of China, was forced to face in the 1950 s. So, he made a plan that was suggested to him by the Soviet Union called the First Five Year Economic Plan; focusing on speeding up the production of agriculture to increase the economy and decrease nation wide famine. So he continued on and enforced another Five Year Plan, and this time invested more in agriculture to make a bigger production. Though he spent more in agriculture, he made labors work in communes for no pay. Their pay was the commune, which Mao made the state pay for, in which they were given to live in with almost 100 to 200 other people. Therefore, workers had no true incentive to work hard and make more agriculture gains from which Mao believed they lacked from the first five year plan. Enforcing this many people to work in communes cause for a wider spread of disease and more people to work a smaller land. Even though Mao made every farmer and peasant give up their own land to help the state, there was still and overflow of people on strips of land. Since Mao s new agriculture theory of speeding up production was planting more crops closer together and this overflow of people, causing them to be more careless and plant crops even closer to each other. This closeness caused roots to cross and kill other crops. Also caused crops not to get the necessary resources and minerals need to grow and caused them to just never grow. This killing of crops, set agriculture production plummeting down causing a nation wide famine and set the economy spiraling down into a recession. Biofuels can come from many different sources, like sugar for example (Tyner et al. i), but the most prominent and most controversial biofuel is corn ethanol. In 2007, President Bush (Bullis) expanded the quotas on ethanol with the Energy Independency and Security Act (Tyner et al. i). Although there are other biofuels, legislature has established ethanol as an additive to traditional petroleum based automobile fuels. Corn ethanol is controversial because many believe that it is not more efficient than fossil fuels and raises the price of food since livestock or humans could eat it. Professor Don Hofstrand at Iowa State University says ...a 100 million gallon ethanol biorefinery will reduce [greenhouse gas] emissions by approximately 400,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalents per year. Although ethanol requires greenhouse gases to be emitted for production, ethanol fuel s net emissions are fifty four percent less than gasoline. Half of the emissions related to producing ethanol are related to growing crops, while the other half is contributed to refining the fuel (Hofstrand). The burning and production of ethanol combined has a smaller carbon footprint than petroleum fuels. This makes it a good fuel substitution while even greener forms of energy are developed to power automobiles and machinery. Reduced greenhouse gases can help slow climate change. This means that a microscope cannot distinguish two objects located closer than λ/2NA, where λ is the wavelength of light and NA is the numerical aperture of the imaging lens (2). Although elucidation of cell functions and subcellular processes has benefited from advances in fluorescent microscopy, this diffraction limit has fundamentally hindered optical microscopy for over a century (1). Recently, however, several new developments in imaging have emerged which can circumvent this limit. By delivering optical images with spatial resolutions below the diffraction limit super resolution microscopy techniques now permits biologists to visualize structures and processes of cells at the molecular level, down to several nanometers. This incredible improvement in spatial resolution has allowed biologists to address important new questions requiring resolutions below 250nm, involving details such as the fine architecture of cell structures, focal adhesions, microtubules, and coated vesicles. Internal dynamic processes can also now be studied, including the movement of focal adhesion complexes and bacteria polarity complexes (3). Super resolution techniques used for live cell imaging studies can generally be divided into three categories: those based on highly localized fluorescence emission volumes; those based on structured illumination; ... • 26. The Oregon Trail Essay example The Oregon Trail The Oregon Trail was a very important aspect in the history of our country s development. When Marcus and Narcissa Whitman made the first trip along the Oregon Trail, many Americans saw a window of opportunity. The Oregon Trail was the only practical way to pass through the Rockies. Pioneers crammed themselves into small wagons to try to make it to the unsettled land; however, 10% of these pioneers died on the way due to disease and accidents. The journey along the Oregon Trail was a very long and rough experience. Stretching out to almost a whopping 2000 miles it usually took the pioneers 4 6 months travelling at 12 to 16 miles per hour. The role of the Native Americans during the time of the Oregon Trail was a very important one. The first section of the Oregon Trail bisected two major Native American tribes, these were the Cheyenne to the north and the Pawnee to the south. Many of the travelers feared attacks by these tribes but were surprised when they were allowed to pass unharmed. The Native Americans were the opposite of what was expected of them. They were very helpful to the travelers. They often helped travelers pull out stuck wagons, rescue drowning travelers, and even round up lost cattle. Native Americans also acted as guides, carried messages between wagon trains, traded with the travelers, and even helped some travelers cross Indian land. Most of the encounters with the Native Americans were simple business transactions. Travelers traded clothing, rifles, and tobacco products in exchange for horses and food. However, many travelers complained that the Native Americans charged expensive tolls for crossing their lands. Conflicts between the Indians and the travelers were pretty rare. Out of the 500,000 people to travel along the Oregon Trail fewer than 400 pioneers lost their lives due to attacks. When the travelers had overgrazed the prairie grasses, burned all the available firewood, and killed all the herds of buffalo attacks were expected by the travelers. In order to ... This painting is part of the Hometown Memories collection as he paints different scenes from his childhood growing up. Hometown Morning is a painting of a street in Placerville, California that is full of life. It is a small community with people walking down the sidewalk and everyone and everything just seems peaceful. Since the original has been sold, the last location of the painting was at The Thomas Kinkade Museum in Monterey, California. The use of melancholic colors are shown as it is a dim setting as the sun begins to rise over the city street. However, the only vibrant color used throughout the piece is a bright gold yellow to illuminate the insides of the homes through the windows. Kinkade s use of complementary colors are visible throughout. Different shades of yellow and blue are seen as there is yellow in the sky and also blue on the street. There are more cold colors than warm colors since the setting is in the morning and during the winter after it has rained. The people are dressed in winter clothes and some even have scarves on. Kinkade uses directional line to direct our attention to what is going on as our eyes go down the street. There is not an actual diagonal line that makes the road smaller, but the use of grass and the sidewalks does the trick. She maintained contact with her family in Flanders and even provided William with Flemish men for his army. She was also a key player in King William s rule of England, hearing land pleas and negotiating with nobles. Matilda played a lesser role in foreign politics than her husband. For many people the normal five milestones of adulthood are completing school, leaving home, becoming financially independent, marring and having a child (Henig) in that order, but the people in generation Y have a different way of viewing those milestones. People in the Y generation stopped marring early and having babies and became more focused on their careers, while others choose to leave school for work, some never have children or are unable to, some never leave home or return home after some time and some never achieve all the five milestones. Since this literature was written primarily during the first century C.E., it mirrors the formal features of Hellenistic epistolary writing. Letter writing in Hellenism followed a stereotypical form: The Epistles were generally written in the form of: 1) Opening or Prescript. This consists of three parts; the author s name, the addressee s name, and a greeting. 2) Body. The purpose of the letter is elaborated. 3) Closing. Usually consists of a final greeting. White Fang was the leader in the first place because everyone knows how strong he was as a leader, they did not know that about Buck. At the end, White Fang was in the city in California, where Buck was first, then goes into the wild where White Fang was born and raised.(London, 1979) The first theme is the law of club and fang. It would come if he fought other dogs that you were supposed to in the wild. The only way they do not get beat is if one dog gets away really fast and escapes so it does not get caught. That is exactly what White Fang did. If one of the dogs gets knocked off its feet in that fight it will be there next meal and this was the law of the fang. The club was if he or she get caught then you will get beaten. The law club and fang really affected White Fang. The evaluation of HP s former Chief Executive Officer is influenced by the fact that the company experienced a decline in productivity within a short period after the CEO entered the organization. Even without directly listening to the voices and the societal conventions they represent, these instances in which the 4th wall is broken reveal that Cinderella feels as though she must adhere to the conventions of the archetypal Cinderella story. By extension, she feels as though she must adhere to the expectations that go along with the Cinderella narrative namely love and marriage to the prince, thereby limiting her personal freedom and capacity for action. Yet Cinderella begins to feel that these story conventions and expectations are shallow. In the description of the 3rd night s ball, Cinderella remarks that the musicians played the same song over and over while Cinderella herself danced like a clockwork ballerina (6.) The references of the repeated song and mechanical nature of the dancing gives the scene a sense of monotony and fakeness, demonstrating Cinderella s discomfort with the pre written steps of the archetypal Cinderella narrative. As the prince proposes, Cinderella compares him to an actor on a creating stage, a simile that further exposes him and the whole narrative situation as inorganic as an actor simply working through the motions of a pre written script. • 45. Causes Of The French And Indian War Essay An Examination of the French and Indian Wars I.Causes The initial causes of the French and Indian War are based on the increasing colonization of French and English settlements throughout the Ohio River Valley area. In the 1750s, British colonists were slowly expanding territorial settlements into the Ohio River Valley from Virginia. In this manner, the English were aggressively establishing more land claims and rights for the British government. More so, the English were cooperating with the local Native American tribes in terms of sharing land rights or respecting the traditions of the indigenous peoples, which often involved military supports and resources from the Iroquois tribe. In contrast to this colonial development, the French were also claiming land rights for settlements in the Ohio River Valley by moving east and southwards from the Great Lakes and French colonial territories in New France. The French also cooperated with local indigenous peoples, such as the Huron, to fight the British during this historical period. The Huron people had a long tradition of trade, and other forms of economic and military cooperation to support this alliance: The link that joined most of Canada s Indian nations to the French was not a common faith, but a common interest in the fur trade. On the even of the French and Indian War, The French government maintained some forty four fortified Indian trading posts, some protected by a small garrison (Cave 46).
