Essay South Beach Diet
South Beach Diet
The South Beach Diet is a relatively new weight loss diet. It was developed by Miami cardiologist
Arthur Agatston, M.D., who is the director of the Mount Sinai Cardiac Prevention Center. The diet
is meant to promote weight loss but not at the expense of heart health. Unlike other wildly popular
low carb plans, South Beach calls for keeping tabs on saturated fats and favors lean meats and
proteins over bacon, cheeseburgers, and steaks. With this diet there is no calorie counting. In fact,
there is no actual diet plan per se. Agatston uses sample menus to outline what you need to eat.
Lists of foods to enjoy and foods to avoid round out the plan. Basically it adds up to three meals a

My Life After A Volunteer At The Emergency Department
I was never fully able to wrap my mind around how one discovers their vocation in life. It was not
until last summer that I was able to uncover my passion. My novel discovery would take place
during, one of the most scorching months of August I ever recall experiencing. It would be during
this amplifying heat that I would conclude to go to Mercy Hospitaland become a volunteer at the
Emergency Department. This day would not only come to symbolize an inflection point in my life
due to the fact that I had recently emigrated from Spain, but a realization of my calling in life.
As if it was yesterday, I remember I had to wake up punctually that day. My father, a draconian
man in his fifties, would have to drop off my mother first at her office, and afterward, come back
home to pick me up. Weak sunbeams shone through the blinds of my dusty window, taking with
them a sweltering tangibility that would congest my silent room. I suddenly got up, breathing
heavy as if the flaming spears of the sun had pierced my lungs.
Soon after I dashed to take an encouraging shower. Promptly, I put on a red polished polo with
hospital miniature logo. I added blue cargo pants, which I thought would fit better for the unknown
tasks waiting for me at the hospital. Since the first moment I exited the bed, my mind had
generated persistent feelings of inquietude. With the smell of brand new clothes still hovering in
the air, I believed myself to possess a health professional when my juvenile figure

Statement Of Purpose For Fashion
Every person I know strongly believes that fashion only stands for the clothes one wears. To my
mind, however, it is a form of art, a body language, a manner to fully express oneself, one s
feelings or one s mood, clichГ©d as it may sound. This versatility, combined with the possibility to
enhance my creative and managerial skills, is the reason why I feel further studies in fashion
management would be the right path for my future career.
Viziune despre lume/fashion industry 7 8 r
When I was younger I read a quote by Rachel Zoe that sounds like this style is a way to say who
you are without having to speak and I believe that this quote describes at its finest the fashion
industry a world without barriers in which you can play with colors, textiles, your own ideas
without being judged. You can be whatever you want, dress like how you feel and still be

Looking back, I remember how ehthusiastic I was about wearing my mother s clothes, especially

that she always asked me what to wear or what pair of shoes to choose and this kind of questions
made me feel valuable. I inherited the love for fashion from travelling with my parents, because
everytime I went to a new country, I admired how the culture has an impact on peoples way to

headscarves, or in French women dress in a grown up neutral palette of black, white, beige and

Watergate Scandal Analysis
The infamous Watergate Scandal continued from 1972 to 1974 effected American politics
immensely. Though, Richard Nixon resigned and was removed from the government in all, the
scandal shaped a political reform era and formed a distrust between Americans and their
government. Similarly, several years later, in 2016, a Presidential candidate was accused of using a
private email server for official interactions while she was Secretary of State rather than the Official
State Department email accounts on the federal servers, causing massive controversy throughout
the entire election. Have the governments standards changed since the Watergate Scandalor is the

Increase Home Ownership
The increase in home ownership in the balance between the home owner and the private rental
sector. Home ownership began to fall in early 2000s, and the fall has increased since then, with
the decline more than 4% in the five years between 2007 2008 and 2012 2013 (Belfield et al,

struggling to purchase a house are the young people. Over the last decade, there has been an
increase in the proportion of younger person household in the UK. The people at age under 30
are living in privately rented properties, around 30% in 1997 to 49% in 2009. On the other hand,

between the generation of today and home ownership; those born later are somewhat less likely
to be homeowners than their predecessor at the same stage in their life. Evidence shows that,
the growth of home ownership rate with age for people born in different years. Those who are
born in mid 1970 now aged in their late 30s have lower rates of home ownership than the people
who were born before them (Belfield et al, 2015). Also for those who were fortunate to have
bought their house under the Right to Buy scheme have a higher rate of home ownership
compared to those who did not get the opportunity to do so. For those who are aged 25, have a
homeowner rate of, 45% compared with 33% of those born in the 1970s cohort and only 20% in
born 1980s cohort. This evidence has been suggested that this change may well out to be a
permanent difference between generation rather than simply changes in the timing of house
purchase due to he factor such as changing in the timing and family formation (Belfield et al, 2015;

The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne Essay
The seventh commandment of the Ten Commandments states Thou shalt not commit adultery.
(Exodus 20:14).
Adultery, according to the Merriam Webster Collegiate Dictionary, is voluntary sexual intercourse
between a married man and someone other than his wife or between a married woman and
someone other than her husband. Some people may think that adultery is only an occurrence in the
21st century, but it also occurred frequently in the 1600s as well. For example, in The Scarlet Letter,
written by Nathaniel Hawthorne, a novel that was set in the 17th century tells the story of Hester
Prynne who was convicted of adultery with a man named Reverend Dimmesdale. Even though
adultery seems to be the most important theme throughout the novel, ... Show more content on

These literary elements help make the novel into one of the most profound written pieces of
literature of its time.
The author of The Scarlet Letter, Nathaniel Hawthorne, was born into a Puritan family, as was
Hester Prynne, in the city of Salem Massachusetts on July 4, 1804. Hawthorne never fully had a
male head figure in his life because at the age of four, Hawthorne s father died in Surinam. His
dad worked full time as a ship captain. One of Hawthorne s fore fathers was a judge in the Salem
Witch Trials. Hawthorne shunned his family because of their involvement in the Salem Witch
Trials by adding the w in what should have been his last name, Hathorne. Adding the w
characterizes the relationship between Hester and the letter A . Hester knew that she could not
run away from the past, but Hawthorne let this problem torment him for the rest of his life.
Hawthorne, for the majority of his adult life, had to deal with the self imposed guilt of shunning
his own family, which he reflected in the characters of Reverend Dimmesdale, and Robert
Chillingworth. Hawthorne came across the files of Hester Prynne while working as a surveyor at
the Salem Custom House. These files triggered Hawthorne to write The Scarlet Letter. The years
following the publication of The Scarlet Letter were probably the happiest years of his life. At one

More often than not, teachers and day care providers who design centers or classrooms do not take

2009) The study Young Children s Color Preferences in the Interior Environment by Marilyn A.
Read and Deborah Upington (2009), was done to find out and highlight colour preferences in
interior environments, in the case of child development centers. (Read Upington, 2009) Designs of
these centers are usually centered around the adults predilections, in contrast, the study says that
because young children are the observers of the centers environment, their colour preferences

In the results, Read and Upington (2009) found that many girls identified the colour purple as their
first choice. Of the entire group, 51%, including both boys and girls, chose purple as their first or
second colour preference. The study states that only 41% of the boys chose purple as their last or
second last preferred colour, however none of the girls had the same preference. (Read Upington,
2009) The study also found that 50% of all participants chose blue as their first and second choice.
Yellow did not seem to be a preferred colour with either boys or girls. (Read Upington, 2009)
Read and Upington (2009) also saw that there was no significant age difference where the results
were concerned, but a correlation was found between preferences for the cool colours over warm
colours which confirmed their second hypothesis. (Read Upington, 2009) There was also a
confirmation on their first hypothesis as well, the red image was the colour selected most often
over other colours. (Read Upington, 2009) Using this information, Read and Upington (2009)
suggest that designers may want to incorporate cool colours on the walls of child development
centers. (Read Upington, 2009) A wall with subtle purple hues could support a child s interest.
(Read Upington, 2009) There are a few strengths to this study, one of which would be that both
boys and girls are used in the sample, questions pertaining to gender should be then rendered

Essay on Cannabis Legalization
Cannabis Legalization
Discuss: Cannabis is no more harmful than tobacco or alcohol and should, therefore, be legalised.
There has recently been much debate in the media about the decriminalisation of cannabis, both for
recreational and medicinal use. This topic has proved controversial especially in political circles.
Drawing on evidence from recent press reports, research on the web and recent publications, this
essay will assess the evidence of how harmful cannabis really is.
In 1971 Cannabis was reclassified by parliament and became a schedule 1 drug. This means that
it was viewed as having no medicinal value. In 2002, Cannabis was reclassified again as a Class C
drug meaning that it is seen as less harmful in comparison to ... Show more content on

He argues that cannabis use is no more dangerous than alcohol and tobacco, suggesting that the
legal effects can have further far reaching consequences on users if they are caught. He explains
that,
People who are prosecuted for possession of cannabis may have their livelihoods destroyed for the
use of a compound which has less adverse consequences than alcohol and tobacco.
However, there are many critical responses to these views. Studies such those published by the BMJ
demonstrate that there are two main problems with long term cannabis use. One problem is that
cannabis usage over time damages mental health and has negative physical consequences much like
those of nicotine. On the other side of the coin cannabis use can have indirect consequences in
terms of the wider population.
The British Medical Journal (1996) featured an article suggesting that women had a five fold
increase in comparison with men in reporting of depressive episodes after smoking cannabis. This
suggests that gender has an effect on reactions to cannabis. It also suggests that there may be
differences in terms of reporting the effects of cannabis based on gender, with men perhaps being
less keen to report any negative reactions due to stereotypes based on gender.
Additionally episodes of psychosis have also been related to cannabis which indicates that cannabis
may not be as harmless as some suggest. A recent Guardian

to the increase in corruption amongst governmental official. An incident in which recently took

Mayor Bowser found private property in which the city would pay for this transitional housing

A Rhetorical Analysis Of Hubert Selby s Last Exit To Brooklyn
Rhetorical Analysis Essay All works of art, whether they be written, painted, or composed, are
categorized into genres. Separating works of art into genres helps keep everything organized
and easy to refer to. However, sometimes critics are unable to specifically assign a work of art to
a certain genre or cannot agree on the nature of the work altogether. This happens to be the case
for Last Exit to Brooklyn, a controversial novel by Hubert Selby Jr.. This novel takes place in the
slums of Brooklyn during the 1950s, and follows the lives of several different characters struggling
with their environment and internal feelings. There is no consensus on the genre of this novel, but
critics have mostly narrowed it down to two genres: naturalism... Show more content on

use proper grammar, spelling, or punctuation. There is no obvious way to tell dialogue apart from
the rest of the text due to the lack of quotation marks. Also, Selby has a tendency to switch between
third and first person, sometimes in mid sentence. Due to the complexity of this novel and the way
it s written, assigning it to a specific genre is no easy task. To even attempt this, one must
understand the genres of naturalism and moral

Taco Bell Literature Comparison Essay
Introduction
Taco Bell, a United States fast food franchise, is expanding to other parts of the world. In 2011,
Taco Bell introduced its Mexican inspired cuisine to India by opening its first restaurant in
Bangalore. U.S. Taco Bell restaurants are known for their on the go, quick food experience. In
contrast, Taco Bell restaurants in India are a sit down, dining experience (Tandon, 2016). As the
franchise opened more locations in India, Taco Bell also created an Indian version of the Taco Bell
website. When comparing these two websites, there are apparent cultural differences between the
sites layout and content. This report will explore these differences and compare the two Taco Bell
websites based on three of Hofstede s cultural dimensions: individualism, indulgence, and
uncertainty avoidance. Examining Hofstede s current cultural comparisons of the U.S. and India
(Shah, 2013), we hypothesize that the U.S. Taco Bell website will rank higher than its Indian
counterpart in individualism and indulgence. For uncertainty avoidance, we believe that they will
have similar results. This report will discuss the literature review of these cultural dimensions, the
methods that are used to evaluate these cultural dimensions, the results of applying these methods

Importance Of Learning English As A Foreign Language In...
Starting learning English as a foreign language in Vietnam, I was aware of the importance of
acquiring and applying a new language in modern lives. When mastering a new language,
especially a popular one, we can gradually narrow the gaps between people from many nations.
However, how to maximize the effectiveness of language teaching and learning is a simple task.
Accordingly, I wish to learn linguistics, the major that has made me understand learners can
successfully acquire a new language using scientific and social methods.
My first major in Vietnam was English pedagogy, so I had many opportunities to study English
from many Vietnamese teachers. Like other language learners, I struggled with English
pronunciation until the time I experienced linguistic programs in the second year. I began to learn
Phonology, the subject motivated me to do research about pronunciation correction for
Vietnamese learners. At that time, I knew the definitions of voiced and voiceless sounds, which
assisted me to recognize the reason why Vietnamese learners had a lot of difficulties in
pronouncing voiceless sounds. In Vietnamese, most of the phonemes are voiced, even they look
the same as in written forms of English, so we articulate the English voiceless sounds in a way of
voiced sounds like in Vietnamese. This is the reason why we make this mistake very often. Thanks
to the time of learning this subcategory of linguistics, I knew how to correct it consciously and
have been improving

Examples Of Deviance In American Horror Stories Freak Show
I chose the television series American Horror Stories to do my analysis on breaking the norm in
television. I chose this series because it breaks all of the norms due to its graphic content. The
show is geared for a more mature audience and is rated TV MA. Programs rated MA are
unsuitable for children under seventeen. There are many examples of deviance in American
Horror Stories Freak Show. There is clown with a gory and very bloody face that was bullied as a
child that now preys on other humans. He murders the innocent people by knocking them out with
a bowling pin and then stabbing them to death. The televisionshow bares all and shows the blood
and guts. The show focuses on torture, sexual deviance, violence, and death. There is a character

`` Beloved `` By Toni Morrison
Gothic Literature normally, if not always, has a haunting. In Beloved by Toni Morrison there is
a haunting of 124. 124 is being haunted by Sethe s daughter who is the character Beloved. The
haunts in Gothic Literature can also be a non physical haunting, a haunting in the head. Sethe
has not been haunted by Beloved physically, but mentally. The bond that a mother has for a child
is so tight and loving. There is no real way to understand this bond unless someone has
personally been a mother. The bond is beautiful, so imagine the horrors Sethe lived in her head
every time she thought of her children. Sethe attempted to take her children s lives when
Schoolteacher threatened to take them back to the South. Sethe did it to save her kids from the
horrors she faced, but killing anything you love that much can be devastating. A reader can tell
through the course of the story that something is bothering her. She has seen terrible things in
her life, experienced terrible things. Sethe was beat. Once she was beaten so bad that it made a
tree of scars (Beloved, 20). Paul D. inspected the wounds almost 20 years later touching the tree,
None of which Sethe could feel because her black skin had been dead for years. (Beloved, 21).
This poor woman was not only a slave, she was beaten and her Milk was stolen . No human being
should ever have to go through such a beating. Sethe had gone through a lot, and she simply did not
want her children to go through the same things. Sethe had

Comparison of News Reports Essays
Comparison of News Reports
The idea of this assignment is to compare and contrast two newspaper reports on the same incident.
The articles concerned are taken from The Mirror and The Times, both published on the 4th of
February 1998.
The Mirror is considered a tabloid newspaper. Tabloidpapers usually cover all national and
international news. They often contain more scandalous, gossipy stories or personal news items.
The Times is considered a broadsheet newspaper. These are the largest type of newspaper and cover
all national and international news in a serious, informative way.
The basic story found in both articles is that a US Marine Fighter Jet sliced through a cable car
wire in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Times article is also split into 4 columns, but only has one headline. It reads 20 die in cable
car after jets cut wire . This heading is neutral and blames the accident on no one, yet from the
words used in The Mirror; I can see that because they use the word killed , they are implying that it
is somebody s fault.
The positioning of the headlines is again different in each paper. In The Mirror, it is to the top
left hand corner, above a picture and in a bold font. In The Times it is found beneath a picture,
approximately a third of the way down the page and is in a relatively small font.
The use of photographs and images differs in each paper only slightly. The Mirror has two
photographs and so does The Times. I would say that the photos take up more space in The Times
article, which would not normally be expected in a broadsheet newspaper. The Mirror includes a
very simple diagram detailing the facts of the accident whereas The Times includes a map diagram
detailing the position of the accident.
In The Mirror article I would say that the headline catches the readers attention first, whereas in The
Times article it would be the large photograph to the top of the page.
In The Mirror article the general tone of the article is expressing empathy with the Italians and
resentment towards, and an apportioning of the blame, to the Americans.

The Catbird Seat Essay examples
The Catbird Seat Questions 1 9 1. Throughout the story suspense is aroused and maintained
excellently. This is achieved by the character the author creates. Mr. Martin is characterized as a
neat and cautious man, who never took a smoke or a drink in his life. Our suspense is aroused
when the author states that it has been a week to the day since Mr. Martin had decided to rub out
Mrs. Ulgine Barrows . This arouses our suspense because we are told Mr. Martin is planning to
murder this woman. The suspense is maintained with Mr. Martin s thoughts. We as an audience are
given his thoughts through the use of the 3rd person omniscient point of view. His thoughts are
mostly on the issue on his dislike of Mrs. Barrows. Because of this, he... Show more content on

4. Mr. Erwin Martin, the protagonist of the story, was a small, intelligent, neat and precise man,
who followed a rigid daily routine. He never drank or smoked and because of this it made him an
exemplary employee at his firm. His boss even stated that Man is fallible but Martin isn t . In
terms of characters Martin is considered a round character. He is considered this because he is
well developed and has many character traits. As the story progresses Erwin does some things
out of character. One of these being, the plotting of the murder of his fellow co worker. It does
not coincide with his character traits and we can also infer that he is going through a change
which might make him a dynamic character as well. Instead of murdering Mrs. Barrows with
brute force, he kills her career by using his knowledge of his perceived personality against her.
He does all these things in order to rid himself of Mrs. Barrows and continue his routine life. Mrs.
Barrows on the other hand was almost the complete opposite of Mr. Erwin Martin s character. She
the antagonist was a large, boisterous woman who got what she wanted. She used a lot of

Elijah Pierson Sparknotes
Paul E. Johnson and Sean Wilentz wrote a biographical story of a man named Matthias, whose
original name was Matthew Roberts. They were intrigued by his murder trial from the nineteen
century (181). The storyline clearly presents controversy of Matthew Roberts way of life, his
preachings, and the events that took place in his Kingdom Mount Zion. Mr. Roberts was a great
influencer as a religious man during the nineteenth century. Religion, in my opinion, are one of the
main symbols of this storyline. Religion influenced the way the characters in this story made
decision and acted in such vigorous ways. For example, the life of ElijahPierson. He was one of the
prestigious man in New York City who fell in love with Sarah Stanford. Sarah... Show more content

The authors then started to describe Matthew Roberts life story in great detail from his
childhood to his adulthood in chapter two just after the biography of Elijah Pierson. Matthew
Roberts started out well for himself. But later, I came to read that he was an abusive husband.
He lost countless jobs due to his preaching to his coworkers of sinful doings which later resulted
in him being discharge from his place of work. Because of Matthias inconsistency with work it
led his family to drown in debt and became poor. Eventually, Matthias once again spoke in
sermons about his beliefs. Although many thought he was insane, he still gained audiences that
truly believed him. His acts of religion led him powerful enough to start a Kingdom named
Mount Zion. Mount Zion was a placed owned originally by Elijah Pierson but when Matthias
visited, he said it was the perfect place to start the Kingdom and so they did. It was indeed a
perfect place in their eyes but things started to become chaotic when Matthias started assigning
sexual partners for himself and his followers. These led to other suspicious events such as the
sudden death of Elijah Pierson who later Matthias was accused for his death and was charge of
murder and fraud. He was also charged for his acts toward his daughter for beating her after
Benjamin Folgers slept with her even though she was already a married woman. All in all this story
was shocking from the themes of poverty, power, wealth, religion,

Galileo And Copernicus And Galileo
During most of the 16th and 17th centuries, it was not easy for scientists to make new discoveries
and present them to the world. The Catholic Church, a dominating force during that period,
persecuted anyone who would spread ideas and opinions that contradicted what the Bible stated.
Both Copernicus and Galileo believed in the heliocentric theory, also called Copernicus theory,
which stated that the sun was at the centre of the universeand the earth revolves around it. However,
the Catholic Church did not agree with this idea because the Bible stated that the earth was at the
centre of the universe and the sun revolved around it, which is the complete opposite. Due to this
disagreement, Copernicus and Galileo were threaded by the Catholic Church and... Show more

The letter was made public and Church Inquisition consultants pronounced Copernican theory
heretical. In 1616, Galileo was ordered not to hold, teach, or defend in any manner the Copernican
theory regarding the motion of the earth. Although it stopped Galileo from teaching what he
believed for a few years, seven years later he would be right back on the same track.
In 1623, a friend of Galileo, Cardinal Maffeo Barberini, was selected as Pope Urban VIII. He
allowed Galileo to pursue his work on astronomy and even encouraged him to publish it, on
condition it be objective and not advocate Copernican theory. In 1632, Galileo published the
Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems, a discussion among three people: one who
supports Copernicus heliocentric theory of the universe, one who argues against it, and one who is
impartial. Though Galileo claimed Dialogues was neutral, it was clearly not. Finally, it was time for

Blue or purple color suggests the stagnation of blood circulation and a grave fading of the part of
the digestive system that is connected to the zone of the tongue. Internal conditions can be
understood by analyzing the color on the underneath of the tongue. As a summary, the colors and
surplus of a white patch or a red patch on the soft tongue tissues designates a fading of the immune
capacity of the blood vessels and shows that the patient is suffering from oral cancer. More detailed
study about the characteristics can be done in ref[8].

Image Segmentation
The usual technique is to find points on the floor of the target image, which is used as the base of
image, and then to give an initial two dimensional curve and make it astringe to the edge of the
target according to dynamics mechanism. This approach is appropriate when the general form of
the target is fixed. But human tongue is not always flat when it is extended out of the mouth.
There will be some variations in the forms and therefore it is not suitable for this algorithm. We
adopt the component H (Hue) and V (Value) of HSV space to decide the initial position of tongue.
Then level set algorithm technique is implemented to obtain the better segmentation results.

The Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, is an allegory that connects the boys behavior in the
novel to the basic behavior of human nature. In the novel, the boys fear a wild beast that has the
potential to kill them off. However, Simon, a quiet boy, finds that the beast is not an animal that
everyone should fear, but is a part of each boy himself. As Simon wanders back to a beautiful
meadow that he had traveled to before, he finds that it has changed. Instead of the peaceful
meadow that Simon had discovered previously, the bloody head of a sow impaled by Jack and his

See? (Golding 144). Simon, in shock of what the Lord of the Flies says to him, knew that one of
his times was coming on (Golding 143). His emotional distress triggers his body to lose all
consciousness. The encounter with the Lord of the Flies supports Simon s thoughts that the
beast that the boys are hunting for is not an actual animal. The Lord of the Flies tries to persuade
Simon to let go of his rational thoughts and be taken over by his primal instincts in order to
have fun like the other boys. However, when Simon s silence declares that he refuses to let go of
logic and rationality, the Lord of the Flies realizes that Simon knows what the beast really is the
innermost part of the boys. Simon seems to make this connection that the Lord of the Flies is
representational to the inner beast within the boys almost instantly. His gaze was held by that

symbolic to all the evil that is in humans. As Simon realizes that he was right about the beast, he
tries to go back to the other boys to warn them about his discovery, but the Lord of the Flies gets
angry. This is ridiculous. You know perfectly well you ll only meet me down there so don t try to

The Chicano Movement, A Civil Rights Movement
The Chicano movement, also known as El Movimiento, was a civil rights movement that began in
the 1960s with a primary objective of attaining empowerment and self determination as well as
rejecting and confronting the history of racism, discrimination and disenfranchisement of the
Mexican American community and was much more militant than movements prior to it. Some
issues the Chicano movement dealt with were farm workers rights, political rights, better education
and restoration of land grants. Additionally, the movement sought to gain social equality and
economic opportunity. The movement strove to tackle the stereotype the media and America
synonymized with Mexicans. The Chicano movement was influenced by progress made in
movements such as the Black Power Movement, antiwar movement and various others. Those who
grew up before the start of the Chicano movement believed that assimilating into the American
lifestyle and adopting their values, ideals and believing in their education and politics would help
them become more white. The Mexican Americancommunity faced segregation in all parts of life.
Chicano was used as a derogatory term towards Mexican Americans before the Chicano movement
in the 1960s. Organizations formed in the early 1900s, such as the League of United Latin
American Citizens (LULAC), sought to end discrimination and segregation against Latinos. The

Fiddler On The Roof Analysis
Jerry Bock, Sheldon Harnick, and Joseph Stein s 1964 classic Fiddler on the Roof, previewed by
Wright State University on November 1, 2017 under the direction of W. Stuart McDowell,
highlighted the balancing act one family has with their time honored traditions. With not only the
encroachment of Russian influence, the small Ukrainian village of Anatevka had to learn how to
keep their Jewish faith strong in the midst of changing times, power, and the whims of the lead s
daughters. Inspired by the French painter Marc Chagall, the overall design supported the themes of
the show and abstract style. Produced in a more presentational style, the lighting, costume, and set
design were essential and effective in clarifying the focus of the production and worked well in
conjunction. Matthew P. Benjamin s lighting gave focus to the production and supported the mood
in each moment. Being the driving character for the show, focus was often given to Tevye,
especially during his monologues. Even when other characters were on stage, including members
of his family, the lights came down and Tevye would be under a tight focus during these moments
like when Tzeitel and Motel express their intentions to get married in Act 1 and subsequently
Perchik and Hodel s same wish in Act 2. Another time focus was given to the characters in a scene
rather than the overall setting was during the Fruma Sarah sequence. The use of shinbusters in wing
one and cross lightgave more focus to the action and added

Market penetration
Market penetration is the name given to a growth strategy where the business focuses on selling
existing products into existing markets.
Market penetration seeks to achieve four main objectives:
Maintain or increase the market share of current products this can be achieved by a combination of
competitive pricing strategies, advertising, sales promotion and perhaps more resources dedicated
to personal selling
Secure dominance of growth markets
Restructure a mature market by driving out competitors; this would require a much more
aggressive promotional campaign, supported by a pricing strategy designed to make the market
unattractive for competitors
Increase usage by existing customers for example by introducing loyalty schemes
A market penetration marketing strategy is very much about business as usual . The business is
focusing on markets and products it knows well. It is likely to have good information on
competitors and on customer needs. It is unlikely, therefore, that this strategy will require much
investment in new market research.

Symptoms, Causes, And Treatments Of Schizophrenia
Symptoms, Causes, and Treatments of Schizophrenia
Cassidy Echalico
Florida State College at Jacksonville
Symptoms, Causes, and Treatments of Schizophrenia Schizophrenia is a stigmatized disease that
labels victims as crazy. One percent of people develop schizophrenia in their lifetime; more than two
million Americans suffer from schizophrenia in a given year (Spearing, 1999). Although
schizophrenia affects men and women equally, it often appears earlier in men than in women; Men
are generally affected in the late teens to early twenties and women are generally affected in the
twenties to early thirties (Spearing, 1999). Schizophrenia is highly uncommon in children,
affecting only about 1 in 40,000 in comparison to 1 in 100 in adults. Many of the victims do not
realize they have schizophrenia until they have a first episode psychosis (Aas, Andreassen, Aminoff,
Faerden, Romm, Nesvayeng, Berg, Simonsen, Agartz, and Melle. 2016). While many people only
know the stereotyped effects of schizophrenia, a better understanding of the symptoms, causes, and
possible treatments can clear many stigmas up.
According to the National Institute of Mental Health, schizophrenia is a chronic and severe mental
disorder that affects how a person thinks, feels, and behaves (National Institute of Mental Health,
2016). Symptoms of schizophrenia include positive, negative, and cognitive affluences (National
Institute of Mental Health, 2016). Positive symptoms include behaviors that are not seen in

Diaphragic Pressure Essay
If the therapist has access to an electronic medical record, noting transdiaphragmatic pressure from
a pulmonologists evaluation is the best indicator of diaphragmatic strength. This is measured as the
difference between intraabdominal pressure and intrathoracic pressure. Documenting
diaphragmatic weakness as a diagnosis should be considered when evaluating breathless patients.
44 Observation will be the next tool to help identify those patients with dysfunctional breathing as
a result of a poor ZOA. Other authors recommend assessment in supine with a comparison made
between sitting and supine. Issues will be more pronounced in supine. A reduction in vital
capacity (perceived breathlessness) or reports of orthopnea is another indicator of DD. McCool2
Mier Jedrzejowicz et al found that patients with the most severe orthopnea had the weakest
diaphragms.44 In these patients, the physical therapist should also look for the abdominal paradox.
In this clinical sign the weakened and flattened diaphragm contracts inwardly, as opposed to
inferiorly, pulling the rib cage with it. It is a result of the change in the orientation of the
diaphragm, the loss of the ZOA and its resultant ineffectiveness in moving the rib cage outwardly.

$250. However, there are other things that can be classified as designs that we have on our body.
In this case, haircuts. We all cut our hairs, and when we do this, we do not always cut it the
same. There are hundreds of kinds of natural hair and comes with it hundreds of kinds of hair
styles. The thing is, we never think any of haircuts when we get them. We never ask ourselves
about how haircuts started in the first place. How they have evolved or even how they affect us.

John Milton Satan Quotes
Paradise Lost is a re telling of the well known story of Adam and Eve. John Milton begins
Paradise Lost by formally stating his poem s subject: humankind s first act of disobedience
toward God and the fall of humanity which followed after. The act is Adam and Eve s
consumption of the forbidden fruit from the Tree of Knowledge, which is told in Genesis, the first
book of the Bible. However, their actions were in response to a serpents trickery. According to
many Christian traditions, this serpent is Satan, the angel who rebelled against God and fell from
heaven to hell where he became pitted against God and all humanity. However, in Paradise Lost,
Milton complicates this set role of Satan. Milton s Satan is an extraordinary and majestic figure
that we find difficult to avoid feeling sympathy towards, and impressed by his pride and
leadership skills. (unafraid of being damned eternally, prideful, a strong leader, comparable to the
size of a Titan, and ingeniously develops his own heaven out of hell.) We can argue that... Show

However, he is also the most likeable character in Paradise Lost. OK, maybe likeable is going a
bit too far, but many readers of the poem have found it difficult to not identify with him and to
avoid sympathizing with him. When he wakes up in Hell, chained to a burning lake, how can
we not feel a bit sorry for him (put sad quote of him chained to the lake). All Satan wanted to
achieve was to overthrow God, which is impossible anyways because God has universal power.
But he doesn t give up when he fails/falls. (find quote about Satan destroying humanity) this is a
another admirable trait that Satan has because he wont give up once he starts something, he goes
and finishes it. A lot of readers can identify with him because it is a characteristic we see in

Essay about Small Pox History
Small Pox History
Smallpox has been believed to be a prominent killer for thousands of years. Before 900 AD
smallpox and measles were easily interchangeable to many physicians. These two diseases
possessed similar symptoms, such as fevers and rashes, making it very difficult to distinguish
between them. It was not until the Persian physician, Rhazes Ar Raz Abmiz, that measles and
smallpox were able to be clinically distinguished in 900 AD. Much later in 1751, Thomas
Sydenham found further differentiating characteristics between the two diseases(Aufderheide,
202). Through the years, with its many outbreaks in varying areas across the planet, smallpox
claimed millions of victims. Many rulers and soldiers were killed by this incredibly ... Show more

With the development of the vaccine, laws requiring vaccination soon appeared in many
countries(McNeil, 166). When deaths from the vaccination itself outnumbered the reported deaths
from actual smallpox in 1970, many countries decided to discontinue the vaccination. Today
smallpox has been eradicated from the planet; many are still worried that it will be used for
bioterrorism as it was by the British army who attempted to infect representatives of the Delaware
Indians with two infected blankets during the 1763 Pontiac s Rebellion(Hopkins, 16).
Smallpox has been seen throughout history. In ancient records the Lesser Pox has been believed
to refer to smallpox while the Greater Pox is syphilis. It has also been referred to as the petite
verole(McNeil, 166). This human unique disease resembles both cowpox and monkeypox.
Smallpox is caused by two virus variants. One is Variola minor, which is the lesser harmful
variant. It is usually referred to as alastrim. Its mortality rate is only 1% of its victims. On the
other hand, its far more harmful virus relative, Variola major, has a mortality rate of 20 40% of its
victims(Aufderheide, 203).
In order for this disease to spread among individuals, a non immune person must come in close
contact with an infected individual that was infected less than two weeks prior. Throughout history,
persistent migrations also aided the spread of smallpox. Many

Medicine Vs. Simpson In The History Of Medicine
Some people may say that Simpson is more important in the history of medicine than Lister.
Simpson dealt with the pain section during the 19th century, and after many years of previous
surgeons/doctors attempting to find a thing to fight pain, Simpson found the answer in Chloroform.
This was important because it was used widely for military purposes and also aided in childbirth;
Queen Elizabeth 1st and Charles Dickens wife, both used Chloroform during the birth of their
children. Although, there were many setbacks in the use of anaesthesia and Chloroform. A patient
took Chloroform for an ingrown toenail and died. This was important because it showed that
Simpson didn t know how much Chloroform to use for each patient. However, other people

Drones Pros Cons
Over the past few decades, drones have slowly been coming into use, showing astonishing results,
such as a 1.5% civilian casualty rate (Lewis 1 9). At first they were only used for surveillance, but
now, they are used for much more than that. The military should continue using drones because of
the many advantages they have over traditional combat methods, namely fewer civilian casualties,
lower expenditures, increased abilities, and the moral responsibility of their use. Despite these
facts, there are those who question the use of drones and believe that drones create more threats to
our military than they destroy. The advantages of drones provide the U.S. military with an edge
over terrorists and will help end the war on terrorismwith as little costs and casualties as possible.
Perhaps the most important benefit drones have over traditional... Show more content on

A team of experts behind the scenes with the drone pilot can look at the details of a situation and
make decisions based on them, whereas a fighter jet pilot has to make decisions on the spot by
himself (Callam). According to some moral philosophers, political scientists, and weapon
specialists, drones are the most moral weapons available (Ahmad 21 29). Many even consider
their use ethically obligatory (Shane). This means that it is the responsibility for the U.S. to use
drones and protect other nations from terrorists and other threats. The use of drones is considered a
responsibility of the U.S. because of how little collateral damage it inflicts. Drones are so much
more efficient at eliminating targets without many civilian casualties than traditional methods that
it would be morally wrong to not use drones in our military (Shane). As more drones are used,
fewer soldiers have to be sent to battle, which means fewer of our soldiers coming back in

Schemas Research Paper
The cognitive process of memory is influenced by various social, and cultural factors, but is
mutually affected by schemas. Schemas is a type of cognitive structure that organizes information,
or new gained knowledge, and organizes that information into mental categories. Information about
any particular aspect on life such as events, actions, or people is stored into mental categories, and
these mental categories helps us associate materials together, like: school, and books, tv and sports,
controller and video games. Because people are from different cultures and backgrounds, they are
storing different information, therefore, forming different mental categories, or schemas. Though,
schemas are directly affected by social and cultural factors,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In Rogoff, and Waddell (1982) the compared the memory of Mayan kids to kids from the United
States. In the experiment the children of both cultures were given a memory task of reconstructing
a diorama of 20 objects. Each child watched the experimenter place the 20 objects from a set of 80
total in the diorama. Then the 20 objects were returned back to the other 60 objects; and then after a
few minutes, the children were asked to reconstruct the full scene. After the performance of all
children were concluded, it was shown that the Mayan children performed slightly better to that of
their counterparts. The study supports the idea that culture affects memory, the Mayan children
could remember the correct placement of the objects, compared to their counterparts, when the task
was meaningful in terms. Also, the study demonstrates that culture has a major affect on an
individual s schema (memory recall). The study shows that individuals can perform tasks more
efficiently when parts of their are culture are recognized, and can help aid in performing tasks; due

Reflection Of The Rainbow Bridge
This documentary is about a group of engineering experts who attempted to recreate the famous
Rainbow Bridge depicted in the Quingming Scroll, created in the time of the Song Dynasty. A
multinational team, compromised of Professor Tang, multiple engineering experts and native
Chinese workers come together to decipher how the Rainbow Bridge was actually made, because
the bridge itself and any blueprints for it have long since been lost to time. The entirety of the
documentary focuses on completing this one architectural project, but there were many steps
needed to get the perfect result. First, they had to decide how to go about creating the skeleton of
the bridge. A question that s reiterated throughout the documentary is whether the... Show more

From a historical point of view, it s quite clear the Song [Dynasty] had the most advanced steel
and iron technology in the world, so it certainly would have been possible for them to have iron
nails (21:42 21:55). And in following the details in the Quingming Scroll, the team decided to lash
the timber beams together with bamboo. Once they managed to get bamboo long enough to work
for lashing, the skeleton, the most difficult part of construction, was essentially complete. While
they didn t actually need to travel to collect any of the items, a few members did travel to the
Yellow Mountains about 200 miles from the location in China where they were building the bridge,
in order to properly learn how to make the bamboo rope necessary for the lashing. The experts
used in the documentary were interesting and vital to making the documentary work. If
Professor Tang hadn t had a passion for history and engineering, then the whole project would
have never happened. It was also refreshing to see the specialists argue and discuss the best
strategies for building the bridges. Normally, we don t get to see this kind of interaction in
professional documentaries. Everyone was there for a purpose and had a role to serve. Though
reconstruction was the basis of the entire documentary, all the team had to go off of was a detailed
and realistic piece of art found in the Quingming Scroll and historical knowledge of the Song

Australian outback and portray the desolate isolation of the harsh land.

America Is A Land Of Opportunity Essay
Land of opportunity to me means, a land where things are easier for everyone residing in it.
Where everybody gets the same benefits, has access to affordable resources, and the possibility
for its entire population to be capable of reaching their goals; essentially, living a happy and
healthy lifestyle on account of its government. People from all over the world visualize this
country as a land of dreams, a land that benefits and allows them to have a better life for

A Day At 07.45 Using A Code
On 30th December 2015 I was on duty. I reported to the reception at 07.45 using a code at the
device from the entrance as I am working in a Care Home where the residents suffer from
Dementia and due to their condition related with memory loss, they need to be protected so that
they can not leave and not be able to remember the way back in accordance with SOVA legislation.
I used my fog to clock in and also signed the staff book so that in case of fire the place would need
to be evacuated.
Then I changed my clothes and put on my uniform and my black shoes, put all my belongings
into my locker including my phone, tied my hair up and checked for my uniform to look nice and
to have my badge with my name on it; all in accordance with company Policies and Procedures.
I washed my hands and at 7.55 I went to the floor ready for work. I have checked the board to see
which unit I was allocated to. I was working on Thames Unit and my team was made up of 5
care assistants and one nurse. The nurse did the hand over regarding all changes and concerns
from night staff and then she allocated each of us 3 residents. My residents were MR J, MR B
and MRS M ( obviously these are pseudonyms in order to maintain confidentiality in accordance
with Nursing and Midwifery Council NMC 2015 Code of Conduct).

Nationalism In Australia
Australia is a large country consisting of six states, two mainland territories, and seven external
territories. The country s government is categorized as a federation, a constitutional monarchy, and
a parliamentary democracy. This government is styled after British and American models, and is
often referred to as the Westminster System because of its similarities to the United Kingdom.
Australias federal legislature consists of a House of Representatives that is made up of 147
members. These members are elected by a preferential voting system. The federal legislature also
contains a senate which is comprised of 12 members from each state and two members from each
territory (two territories). These members are elected by proportional representation.The... Show

This has a lot to do with the the religious, cultural, and ethnic complexity of the country due to its
size and numerous territories. Australia s national symbols show the relationship and ties the
country has with Britain. Australia pays respect to the British Crown with the head of state being
derived from the hereditary line of the British monarchy. It also has the Union Jack incorporated
in its national flag. On Australian ceremonial days, oaths of loyalty, and citizenship ceremonies,
the events and practices are linked to Britain.Every Australia Day, we explore what it means to
be Australian. Reflection about this national identity is invited on the 26th of January, a day that
recalls a British invasion and is celebrated as Survival Day by Indigenous Australians ( find

classlessness, a fair go , stoicism and again mateship. It is sometimes referred to as the national
ethos whereby a certain lifestyle is seen as central to the welfare of the whole community, not just
one class of society. The nationalism and Australian way of life can be seen in the country s flag,

The Three Major Theories Of International Relations
Midterm
International relations theories are a set of ideas that explain how states work within global system
of alliances and shared interests. What separates a theory from an ideology is concrete evidence of
practice and deep reasoning that backs up the theory. The three major theories of international
relations are realism, liberalism, and constructivism. I believe Realism theory, which states that
states only act in their own interests and to increase their own power relative to other states most
accurately predicts the behavior of states. If we assume that states act primarily on the foundation
of security for their people, it is rational to assume international relation theories find greater
application during periods of war and revolutions, where rulers are more pressed to provide
stability. In times like those, we see how states are compelled to act out of self interest to maintain a
dominant status.
Realist theorists argue that politics should be viewed as it currently exists, and not how one would
wish the world operated. When looking at the international system, realists focus their beliefs on
how international relations work based upon the idea of power and security. The definition of
Realism, as defined by John Mearsheimer in Anarchy and the Struggle for Power, explains realism
through five assumptions with total hegemony as a goal. The first assumption is that an
international system of anarchy lacks of any central authority. The second assumption is that

Appreciation Of A Novel By Barbara Kruger
Appreciation of art is like the appreciation of a novel. One may read a title of a novel and be
amazed and curios but will never appreciate it fully if the novel is not read from cover to cover.
For any piece of art, one needs to learn about the artist, the story behind the piece and the purpose
of the piece. In addition to learning about the work, as a woman, I find myself leaning more
towards the appreciation of the work of women artists who use their talent and skills to express
themselves and/or the causes they stand for. For this assignment I chose the work pieces of
Believe +doubts =sanity by Barbara Kruger, By the light 2013 by Shinique smith and untitled 2002

Belief + Doubt is an exhibition of more than 60 selected works from a promised gift of 100 donated
by collectors David Horvitz and Francie Bishop Good to the NSU Art Museum. with Kruger s

artists that are included in or were inspired by the Pictures Generation. Divided into themes and sub
themes highlighting painting, video, mixed media, sculpture and a particularly strong section of
works by women addressing race, identity, sexuality and generation the exhibition title Belief +

  • 2. Essay South Beach Diet South Beach Diet The South Beach Diet is a relatively new weight loss diet. It was developed by Miami cardiologist Arthur Agatston, M.D., who is the director of the Mount Sinai Cardiac Prevention Center. The diet is meant to promote weight loss but not at the expense of heart health. Unlike other wildly popular low carb plans, South Beach calls for keeping tabs on saturated fats and favors lean meats and proteins over bacon, cheeseburgers, and steaks. With this diet there is no calorie counting. In fact, there is no actual diet plan per se. Agatston uses sample menus to outline what you need to eat. • 3. My Life After A Volunteer At The Emergency Department I was never fully able to wrap my mind around how one discovers their vocation in life. It was not until last summer that I was able to uncover my passion. My novel discovery would take place during, one of the most scorching months of August I ever recall experiencing. It would be during this amplifying heat that I would conclude to go to Mercy Hospitaland become a volunteer at the Emergency Department. This day would not only come to symbolize an inflection point in my life due to the fact that I had recently emigrated from Spain, but a realization of my calling in life. As if it was yesterday, I remember I had to wake up punctually that day. My father, a draconian man in his fifties, would have to drop off my mother first at her office, and afterward, come back home to pick me up. Weak sunbeams shone through the blinds of my dusty window, taking with them a sweltering tangibility that would congest my silent room. I suddenly got up, breathing heavy as if the flaming spears of the sun had pierced my lungs. Soon after I dashed to take an encouraging shower. Promptly, I put on a red polished polo with hospital miniature logo. I added blue cargo pants, which I thought would fit better for the unknown tasks waiting for me at the hospital. Since the first moment I exited the bed, my mind had generated persistent feelings of inquietude. With the smell of brand new clothes still hovering in the air, I believed myself to possess a health professional when my juvenile figure ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne Essay The seventh commandment of the Ten Commandments states Thou shalt not commit adultery. (Exodus 20:14). Adultery, according to the Merriam Webster Collegiate Dictionary, is voluntary sexual intercourse between a married man and someone other than his wife or between a married woman and someone other than her husband. Some people may think that adultery is only an occurrence in the 21st century, but it also occurred frequently in the 1600s as well. For example, in The Scarlet Letter, written by Nathaniel Hawthorne, a novel that was set in the 17th century tells the story of Hester Prynne who was convicted of adultery with a man named Reverend Dimmesdale. These literary elements help make the novel into one of the most profound written pieces of literature of its time. The author of The Scarlet Letter, Nathaniel Hawthorne, was born into a Puritan family, as was Hester Prynne, in the city of Salem Massachusetts on July 4, 1804. Hawthorne never fully had a male head figure in his life because at the age of four, Hawthorne s father died in Surinam. His dad worked full time as a ship captain. One of Hawthorne s fore fathers was a judge in the Salem Witch Trials. Hawthorne shunned his family because of their involvement in the Salem Witch Trials by adding the w in what should have been his last name, Hathorne. Adding the w characterizes the relationship between Hester and the letter A . Hester knew that she could not run away from the past, but Hawthorne let this problem torment him for the rest of his life. Hawthorne, for the majority of his adult life, had to deal with the self imposed guilt of shunning his own family, which he reflected in the characters of Reverend Dimmesdale, and Robert Chillingworth. Hawthorne came across the files of Hester Prynne while working as a surveyor at the Salem Custom House. These files triggered Hawthorne to write The Scarlet Letter. There has recently been much debate in the media about the decriminalisation of cannabis, both for recreational and medicinal use. This topic has proved controversial especially in political circles. Drawing on evidence from recent press reports, research on the web and recent publications, this essay will assess the evidence of how harmful cannabis really is. He explains that, People who are prosecuted for possession of cannabis may have their livelihoods destroyed for the use of a compound which has less adverse consequences than alcohol and tobacco. However, there are many critical responses to these views. Studies such those published by the BMJ demonstrate that there are two main problems with long term cannabis use. One problem is that cannabis usage over time damages mental health and has negative physical consequences much like those of nicotine. On the other side of the coin cannabis use can have indirect consequences in terms of the wider population. The British Medical Journal (1996) featured an article suggesting that women had a five fold increase in comparison with men in reporting of depressive episodes after smoking cannabis. This suggests that gender has an effect on reactions to cannabis. It also suggests that there may be differences in terms of reporting the effects of cannabis based on gender, with men perhaps being less keen to report any negative reactions due to stereotypes based on gender. Separating works of art into genres helps keep everything organized and easy to refer to. This happens to be the case for Last Exit to Brooklyn, a controversial novel by Hubert Selby Jr.. In 2011, Taco Bell introduced its Mexican inspired cuisine to India by opening its first restaurant in Bangalore. U.S. Taco Bell restaurants are known for their on the go, quick food experience. In contrast, Taco Bell restaurants in India are a sit down, dining experience (Tandon, 2016). As the franchise opened more locations in India, Taco Bell also created an Indian version of the Taco Bell website. When comparing these two websites, there are apparent cultural differences between the sites layout and content. This report will explore these differences and compare the two Taco Bell websites based on three of Hofstede s cultural dimensions: individualism, indulgence, and uncertainty avoidance. Examining Hofstede s current cultural comparisons of the U.S. and India (Shah, 2013), we hypothesize that the U.S. Taco Bell website will rank higher than its Indian counterpart in individualism and indulgence. For uncertainty avoidance, we believe that they will have similar results. This report will discuss the literature review of these cultural dimensions, the methods that are used to evaluate these cultural dimensions, the results of applying these methods on these two Taco Bell websites, discussion of these result findings, a conclusion, and recommendations for both the U.S. and Indian Taco Bell websites. Starting learning English as a foreign language in Vietnam, I was aware of the importance of acquiring and applying a new language in modern lives. When mastering a new language, especially a popular one, we can gradually narrow the gaps between people from many nations. However, how to maximize the effectiveness of language teaching and learning is a simple task. Accordingly, I wish to learn linguistics, the major that has made me understand learners can successfully acquire a new language using scientific and social methods. My first major in Vietnam was English pedagogy, so I had many opportunities to study English from many Vietnamese teachers. Like other language learners, I struggled with English pronunciation until the time I experienced linguistic programs in the second year. I began to learn Phonology, the subject motivated me to do research about pronunciation correction for Vietnamese learners. At that time, I knew the definitions of voiced and voiceless sounds, which assisted me to recognize the reason why Vietnamese learners had a lot of difficulties in pronouncing voiceless sounds. In Vietnamese, most of the phonemes are voiced, even they look the same as in written forms of English, so we articulate the English voiceless sounds in a way of voiced sounds like in Vietnamese. This is the reason why we make this mistake very often. Thanks to the time of learning this subcategory of linguistics, I knew how to correct it consciously and have been improving ... The bond that a mother has for a child is so tight and loving. There is no real way to understand this bond unless someone has personally been a mother. The bond is beautiful, so imagine the horrors Sethe lived in her head every time she thought of her children. Sethe attempted to take her children s lives when Schoolteacher threatened to take them back to the South. Sethe did it to save her kids from the horrors she faced, but killing anything you love that much can be devastating. A reader can tell through the course of the story that something is bothering her. She has seen terrible things in her life, experienced terrible things. Sethe was beat. The articles concerned are taken from The Mirror and The Times, both published on the 4th of February 1998. The Mirror is considered a tabloid newspaper. Tabloidpapers usually cover all national and international news. They often contain more scandalous, gossipy stories or personal news items. The Times is considered a broadsheet newspaper. The Times article is also split into 4 columns, but only has one headline. It reads 20 die in cable car after jets cut wire . This heading is neutral and blames the accident on no one, yet from the words used in The Mirror; I can see that because they use the word killed , they are implying that it is somebody s fault. The positioning of the headlines is again different in each paper. In The Mirror, it is to the top left hand corner, above a picture and in a bold font. In The Times it is found beneath a picture, approximately a third of the way down the page and is in a relatively small font. The use of photographs and images differs in each paper only slightly. The Mirror has two photographs and so does The Times. I would say that the photos take up more space in The Times article, which would not normally be expected in a broadsheet newspaper. The Mirror includes a very simple diagram detailing the facts of the accident whereas The Times includes a map diagram detailing the position of the accident. In The Mirror article I would say that the headline catches the readers attention first, whereas in The Times article it would be the large photograph to the top of the page. In The Mirror article the general tone of the article is expressing empathy with the Italians and resentment towards, and an apportioning of the blame, to the Americans. ... Mr. Martin is characterized as a neat and cautious man, who never took a smoke or a drink in his life. Our suspense is aroused when the author states that it has been a week to the day since Mr. Martin had decided to rub out Mrs. Ulgine Barrows . Some issues the Chicano movement dealt with were farm workers rights, political rights, better education and restoration of land grants. With not only the encroachment of Russian influence, the small Ukrainian village of Anatevka had to learn how to keep their Jewish faith strong in the midst of changing times, power, and the whims of the lead s daughters. Inspired by the French painter Marc Chagall, the overall design supported the themes of the show and abstract style. Benjamin s lighting gave focus to the production and supported the mood in each moment. Being the driving character for the show, focus was often given to Tevye, especially during his monologues. Even when other characters were on stage, including members of his family, the lights came down and Tevye would be under a tight focus during these moments like when Tzeitel and Motel express their intentions to get married in Act 1 and subsequently Perchik and Hodel s same wish in Act 2. One percent of people develop schizophrenia in their lifetime; more than two million Americans suffer from schizophrenia in a given year (Spearing, 1999). Although schizophrenia affects men and women equally, it often appears earlier in men than in women; Men are generally affected in the late teens to early twenties and women are generally affected in the twenties to early thirties (Spearing, 1999). Schizophrenia is highly uncommon in children, affecting only about 1 in 40,000 in comparison to 1 in 100 in adults. Many of the victims do not realize they have schizophrenia until they have a first episode psychosis (Aas, Andreassen, Aminoff, Faerden, Romm, Nesvayeng, Berg, Simonsen, Agartz, and Melle. 2016). While many people only know the stereotyped effects of schizophrenia, a better understanding of the symptoms, causes, and possible treatments can clear many stigmas up. Diaphragic Pressure Essay If the therapist has access to an electronic medical record, noting transdiaphragmatic pressure from a pulmonologists evaluation is the best indicator of diaphragmatic strength. This is measured as the difference between intraabdominal pressure and intrathoracic pressure. Documenting diaphragmatic weakness as a diagnosis should be considered when evaluating breathless patients. 44 Observation will be the next tool to help identify those patients with dysfunctional breathing as a result of a poor ZOA. Other authors recommend assessment in supine with a comparison made between sitting and supine. Issues will be more pronounced in supine. A reduction in vital capacity (perceived breathlessness) or reports of orthopnea is another indicator of DD. McCool2 Mier Jedrzejowicz et al found that patients with the most severe orthopnea had the weakest diaphragms.44 In these patients, the physical therapist should also look for the abdominal paradox. In this clinical sign the weakened and flattened diaphragm contracts inwardly, as opposed to inferiorly, pulling the rib cage with it. It is a result of the change in the orientation of the diaphragm, the loss of the ZOA and its resultant ineffectiveness in moving the rib cage outwardly. • 40. John Milton Satan Quotes Paradise Lost is a re telling of the well known story of Adam and Eve. John Milton begins Paradise Lost by formally stating his poem s subject: humankind s first act of disobedience toward God and the fall of humanity which followed after. The act is Adam and Eve s consumption of the forbidden fruit from the Tree of Knowledge, which is told in Genesis, the first book of the Bible. However, their actions were in response to a serpents trickery. According to many Christian traditions, this serpent is Satan, the angel who rebelled against God and fell from heaven to hell where he became pitted against God and all humanity. However, in Paradise Lost, Milton complicates this set role of Satan. Milton s Satan is an extraordinary and majestic figure that we find difficult to avoid feeling sympathy towards, and impressed by his pride and leadership skills. (unafraid of being damned eternally, prideful, a strong leader, comparable to the size of a Titan, and ingeniously develops his own heaven out of hell.) We can argue that... All Satan wanted to achieve was to overthrow God, which is impossible anyways because God has universal power. But he doesn t give up when he fails/falls. Before 900 AD smallpox and measles were easily interchangeable to many physicians. These two diseases possessed similar symptoms, such as fevers and rashes, making it very difficult to distinguish between them. It was not until the Persian physician, Rhazes Ar Raz Abmiz, that measles and smallpox were able to be clinically distinguished in 900 AD. Much later in 1751, Thomas Sydenham found further differentiating characteristics between the two diseases(Aufderheide, 202). When deaths from the vaccination itself outnumbered the reported deaths from actual smallpox in 1970, many countries decided to discontinue the vaccination. Smallpox has been seen throughout history. In ancient records the Lesser Pox has been believed to refer to smallpox while the Greater Pox is syphilis. It has also been referred to as the petite verole(McNeil, 166). This human unique disease resembles both cowpox and monkeypox. Smallpox is caused by two virus variants. One is Variola minor, which is the lesser harmful variant. It is usually referred to as alastrim. Its mortality rate is only 1% of its victims. On the other hand, its far more harmful virus relative, Variola major, has a mortality rate of 20 40% of its victims(Aufderheide, 203). Simpson dealt with the pain section during the 19th century, and after many years of previous surgeons/doctors attempting to find a thing to fight pain, Simpson found the answer in Chloroform. This was important because it was used widely for military purposes and also aided in childbirth; Queen Elizabeth 1st and Charles Dickens wife, both used Chloroform during the birth of their children. Although, there were many setbacks in the use of anaesthesia and Chloroform. A patient took Chloroform for an ingrown toenail and died. At first they were only used for surveillance, but now, they are used for much more than that. The military should continue using drones because of the many advantages they have over traditional combat methods, namely fewer civilian casualties, lower expenditures, increased abilities, and the moral responsibility of their use. Despite these facts, there are those who question the use of drones and believe that drones create more threats to our military than they destroy. The use of drones is considered a responsibility of the U.S. because of how little collateral damage it inflicts. Schemas is a type of cognitive structure that organizes information, or new gained knowledge, and organizes that information into mental categories. • 51. The Three Major Theories Of International Relations Midterm International relations theories are a set of ideas that explain how states work within global system of alliances and shared interests. What separates a theory from an ideology is concrete evidence of practice and deep reasoning that backs up the theory. The three major theories of international relations are realism, liberalism, and constructivism. I believe Realism theory, which states that states only act in their own interests and to increase their own power relative to other states most accurately predicts the behavior of states. If we assume that states act primarily on the foundation of security for their people, it is rational to assume international relation theories find greater application during periods of war and revolutions, where rulers are more pressed to provide stability. In times like those, we see how states are compelled to act out of self interest to maintain a dominant status. Realist theorists argue that politics should be viewed as it currently exists, and not how one would wish the world operated. When looking at the international system, realists focus their beliefs on how international relations work based upon the idea of power and security. The definition of Realism, as defined by John Mearsheimer in Anarchy and the Struggle for Power, explains realism through five assumptions with total hegemony as a goal. The first assumption is that an international system of anarchy lacks of any central authority. The second assumption is that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
