I Think Ktm Dirt Bikes Are Better Than Yamaha Dirt Bike
I think KTM dirt bikes are better than Yamaha dirt bikes. KTM might not sell as many in the United
States compared to Yamaha, but if you look at an international race you will see that 90% of the
athletes ride KTMs. The KTM is built in Austria, where the Yamahas are built in Japan. Both
companies build both track and trail bikes, and two strokes and four strokes. KTMs are famous for
their crazy power from their two stroke line. Yamaha is known for producing good, reliable four stroke
bikes. KTM was founded back in 1934 by Hans Trunkenpolz but didn t start large production and
sales of motorcycles until 1981. Yamaha was founded in 1955 by a group of people from Japan, they
also produce ATVs, boats, and sailboats. Yamaha ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The KTM also comes equipped with a self adjusting hydraulic clutch that works amazing, the clutch is
very smooth and powerful. Now compare it to the Yamaha s old school cable clutch, which is
relatively smooth, but can sometimes get hung up in the cable housing, or the cable gets stretched out
and needs to be replaced often. The KTM comes stock with billet hubs, these are amazing hubs that
are super smooth rolling and relatively low maintenance. The reason that I like the KTM better than
the Yamaha is because I have both brand bikes. I ride the KTM the most because I like the way it feels
and the massive amount of power behind it. It is a fast, nimble bike great for both motocross and
enduro. I have also worked on both bikes and can say that the KTM is far easier to work on. The
Yamaha is still a good bike, but the KTM is just better in my opinion. The Yamaha is kind of an old
bike now; they haven t changed the frame or the engine since 2006 when they did a whole makeover
to the bike. The suspension has had some tuning in the recent years, they upgraded to SSS suspension
and added some wider foot pegs. The biggest thing that they upgraded for this year were the graphics
that were looking kind of old. Some people will argue that the Yamaha is a bit more reliable than the
KTM is, and I will have to agree with that. Since the Yamaha is an older bike, they have some of the
bugs worked out of it and the

How Do the Makers of Trainspotting Depict British Youth...
Poison or Pearls, Reality or Fantasy? (Street 110): How do the makers of Trainspotting depict British
youth sub culture and what methods of filming do they use to communicate their message in the
surrealist way the film is famous for?
Trainspotting (1996) is a depiction of the squalid depravities and exploitative self interest that
characterises the everyday life of heroin addiction. (Petrie 90) Its realistic style, use of language and
unflinching portrayal of drug use was what first attracted me to look at it a bit closer. Based on the
novel by Irvine Welsh, it tells the story of a group of working class unemployed drug addicts, focusing
on their problems with heroin abuse, inability to get a job and family problems. Set in ... Show more

In 1950 Roman Jakobson introduced a theory concerned with the way that language and
communication is used. This is used in film to convey a message to the audience. His system is that
the `addresser sends a message to the `addressee , and the dominant function of the message
determines the meaning. The various forms that the function can take are; Referential; Emotive;
Conative; Phatic; Metalingual and Poetic. One of these functions will be dominant according to
Jakobson, thus playing a determining and shaping role with respect to the meaning of the message the
addresser sends to the addressee (Lothe 15). This is used in films such as Trainspotting in a way that is
not entirely obvious to the audience, as it is disguised by the narrative.

Wireless Security And Vulnerability In The Wireless Network
Vulnerability in the Wireless Network
Rafael Reccy
Seminole State College
Abstract
Wi Fi can be found anywhere in this day in age, you can walk into almost any establishment and you
ll be sure to find their Wi Fi, accessible from anywhere within their spaces. Each data packet being
transmitted through the air, whether containing private, sensitive or insensitive information, is
available for an attacker to capture. To fight against this, there have been some standards that have
come out through the years to guard and protect data, such as WPA. All standards have been created to
replace the preceding one due to vulnerabilities found in the engineering of them. Still to this day, not
every standard is fully secure, attackers still find ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although, there is one of the vulnerabilities that is pretty much impossible to guard against, DoS like
Molta points out, Other problems are looming, the most pernicious of which are DoS (denial of
service) attacks. While DoS is a fact of life on all networks, it s worse on wireless networks because
not only do you need to guard against attacks at Layer 2 and above, you re also extremely vulnerable
to physical layer attacks to the medium (Molta, 2002, p. 18). In this essay, some vulnerabilities will be
looked at that can affect Wi Fi home users as well as businesses that implement wireless networks
because both types of networks can be affected by the same types of intrusion or disruption attacks.
Even though this paper is about vulnerabilities, it is important to point out that wi fi networks can still
be operated safely with a high level of security in place.
Wireless networks are considered vulnerable when an incident occurs that exploits the capability to
perform the desired requirement of maintaining performance and concealment of data. Most
vulnerabilities happen because of the science behind a wireless network, the fact that it uses air as a
medium makes it harder to protects because the environment of air is not stable and when it comes to
delivering sacred information you must be on

To Drill or Not to Drill Essay
As a resident of Pennsylvania I take the position that at the present time, along with other residents,
environmental groups, local governments, and even businesses that we are against drilling for natural
gas here in our state at this time! Developing our energy resources can not come at the expense of our
environmental resources our water, our land, and our ecosystems. Over the past few years natural gas
drilling in Pennsylvania has become a popular topic of controversy. The reason this topic is so
controversial to a Pennsylvania resident is because of the impact it has on our environment. Natural
gas drilling companies are racing to the state of Pennsylvania looking to drill into areas containing
Marcellus Shale, a deep ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The clean drinking water supplied to millions of people and wildlife species are at serious risk. The
Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection recently fined a drilling company after
methane gas leaked from a drilling operation and seeped into nearby residential wells ( Marcellus
Shale ). This is not a common occurrence; the problem of methane gas migrating into ground water is
a very serious problem. You can not drink water, shower or wash clothes with water that has been
contaminated with methane. There is documented proof, including video that actually shows water
from a kitchen faucet being ignited into flames with a lighter, the water containing enough methane
gas to become flammable. Property owners that sold land rights to gas companies are now second
guessing their decisions and suffering the dilemma of tainted ground water and well water. Therefore,
developing the Marcellus Shale formation requires very large amounts of fresh water and fluid
disposal. Recent inspections by the state have uncovered violations that threaten Pennsylvania water
resources and its environment. Violations include poorly constructed and dangerous water retention
ponds, inadequate erosion and sediment controls, improper waste and fluid disposal and also improper
and unregistered withdrawals of water from streams. Meanwhile, oil and gas wells expel

A Tale of Two Hedge Funds Magnetar and Peloton
A Tale of Two Hedge Funds: Magnetar and Peloton
Describe in your own words, Peleton s winning strategy in 2006.
Peloton s winning strategy was effective in 2006 and allowed Peloton Partners to become one of the
top hedge funds in the country. Ron Beller, the head of the company bet against the United States
housing market. Before the subprime crisis hit the country, and people started to default on their
mortgage, Beller was able to earn a healthy return by taking a short position on the housing market.
The objective was to invest in the mortgage as the banks were issuing mortgages to a large number of
people irrespective of their credit history. The investment in mortgage paid around 80% return in 2007

Magnetar rapidly moved downwards to the securities which they believe were mispriced. They took a
long position on the collateralized debt obligations which have the highest risk but have the potential
of healthy returns in good times. It was hedged against the less risky layer of the CDO s or same
securities. Although, the risky securities incur losses, hedging against the less risky securities paid
more when the market collapsed.
How could Magnetar have lost money? Using information from the rest of the case, describe how you
think they came to the conclusion that the risk of losing money was remote. (Hint: Though this is a
tough question, the answer has to do with how assets in the CDO are correlated).
The risk of losing money lies in the correlation with the asset. Magnetar could lose money if a high
correlation exists which would create non diversifiable risk. Thus, there is a high likelihood that the
senior tranches of CDO s get impaired. If Magnetar contained securities related to the housing market
that is not geographically diverse, then it will have a higher correlation. Thus, the housing

Chocolate Industry
CHOCOLATE INDUSTRY IN UK CADBURY, UK The Chocolate industry in the UK has been
facing many challenges in recent times. The escalation of prices of the main ingrediants such as cocoa,
milk and sugar has forced companies to increase prices. Customers showed resistance to higher prices
which prompted brands such as Cadbury amp; Masterfoods (Galaxy) to reduce packaging sizes.
Concerns among the public regarding obesity has also led chocolate companies to bring out smaller
sizes of chocolate. A big issue facing the industry are cocoa prices hitting a 33% high in 2010 due to
growing demands from the chocolate industry and a disappointing crop in the Ivory Coast, an
important grower of cocoa. As per Euromonitor reports the total value ... Show more content on

With excess production capacity and lesser competition, several players engage in price competition to
get higher sales. Cadbury goes head to head with Nestle amp; Mars as other players have fairly
smaller market shares and often struggle due to these top companies. According to Hooley et all
(Marketing strategy and competitive positioning) high exit barriers for a company lead to higher
competition as well. If a company is unable to exit a market due to high initial investments, high costs
of redundancy (monetary and social) they work harder to compete with other companies. Several
companies have egotistical as well as psychological reasons for remaining in a market and ensure they
stay on top of people s minds as exiting is not an option due to brand history and value. Brands such
as Cadbury have incredible media presence covering internet, television, print, etc. Cadbury is a major
player on the internet and uses this tool as an advantage over competitors. Newer avenues such as E
markets are intensifying competition and deterring exit of big companies. Competition in the
chocolate industry is also increased due to the fact that product differentiation is low. The intrinsic
quality and external value of a bar of chocolate is similar therefore competition for sales is increased.
Switching costs in terms of price and availability for customers is low as many players have similar
varieties of chocolate on offer. Customers may not

Gender Roles In Video Games
Do you like to play video games? The world of video games is mainly represented by males. Some
people in this industry are trying to push more representation of the females who play these games.
Many people are supporting this and pushing the change but some are opposed to it. Gaming design is
influenced by preexisting sexist ideas.
Through the history of video games women have always been represented poorly. The main characters
of video games tend to be white males and they do deserve representation but they are not the only
ones who deserve it. Popular video games like Call of Duty, Watchdogs, and Assassin s Creed all have
similar main characters throughout the series; tall, muscular, and powerful men. Though the video
game industry has done a poor job of representing women, men are also subject to the pressure of
video games and media. Halo and Mortal Kombat are long running video game series and the physical
appearances of their characters has been studied through their history. Female characters have become
more slender with larger breasts and wear less clothing. Male characters have become more muscular
and aggressive. These traits which are also popular in the media can affect the way people think of
society. It influences what people think they should be or look like instead of being themselves.

Literary Analysis Of The Necklace
In The Necklace the authors choice of words, or diction, is very well articulated. I enjoyed this story
because the narrator, Guy de Maupassant sets us so much suspense with the tone of the story. Madame
Louisel essentailly loses a valuable item, or so she thought, and goes to major extents and even life
deminishing problems to just make it seem like she was not responsible enough to take care of a
necklace for a night. The story intially takes place at a ball that Madame Louisel has been invited to by
her husband. In the beginning of the story Madame is very indecisive about making an appearance at
the ball. She complained she did not have a dress, any jewels, and she was scared she would look like
a pauper (174). She did not want to look poor around a bunch of rich woman, so she had asked a
friend for a piece of jewelry to wear for the night. Excited, she picks out the diamond necklace that
seemed to stand out to her. She adored it. The narrator describes it as lovliest of all, elegant, smiling,
and radiating with joy (175). Having a blast at the party, dancing, drinking, and not thinking about
anything else, Madame left the ball around four in the morning. Calling a cab, Madame and her
husband were on their way home, delighted with the fun night that they had. Finally arriving at home,
they begin to get into comfortable clothes when suddenly Madame notices that the diamond necklace
she had borrowed from a friend for the night had gone missing. Searching everyhwere

How To Regulate Alcohol And Tobacco Advertising
Alcohol and tobacco advertising is not a new concept to this world. Alcohol and tobacco advertising
has been going on since the mid 1900 s. During this time, alcohol and tobacco ads were on the TV
almost as much as regular programs (Danna). This source is credible because the author has written
many articles for the Chicago Tribune before. When alcohol and tobacco advertising first started they
actually argued that smoking and drinking was beneficial for the human body. Since then, the Alcohol
and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau and many other departments have tried to put in laws and acts to
help regulate the advertisement of alcohol and tobacco. For example, laws such as the Federal
Cigarette Labeling and Advertising Act of 1965 , and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

reasons why the government should try to maybe add a few more stricter laws to help regulate the
advertising of alcohol and tobacco in The United States of America. This is because it is really starting

Martial Arts Is A Means Of Exercise, Self Preservation,...
We all know martial arts are a means of exercise, self preservation/self defense, and self perfection.
We spend years learning how to increase our attributes (speed, timing, fine motor skill, sensitivity,
etc.), how to defend ourselves and our loved ones, and how to reach that higher spiritual awareness
that makes us better people. Most of us could not imagine our lives without it. We love getting off
work or out of school and going to our respective Dojo/Dojang/Kwoon and spending some time
working out. We feel centered and ready to take on our lives after a couple of hours of Training and
Randori. We may even find time during our regular day for some Carenza or Kata. It just makes feel
good and hey we are warriors so of course we make the time in our lives for this pursuit. This article is
not for you the standard martial artist, at least not in the way you expect. This article is for those who
believe they can t. Those that believe martial arts is an impossibility or at least severely limited due to
their limitations...their handicaps.
There is a trend in today s martial arts schools that many view as positive and in a way, it is, but for
many it does just as much harm as good (for some more). Adaptive Martial Arts! For those that may
not be aware Adaptive Martial Arts is an idea that martial arts can be modified to teach anyone
regardless of physical/mental limitation and ability. Now this sounds great, however, this idea is also
the greatest problem that many people face.

Becoming A Writer In My English Class
Looking back on this English class, I have realized that how much my writing has improved since the
beginning of the class. I went from being a writer that was not so confident in writing paragraphs to
the writer who can do the fair job in paragraph writing. The fact that I am feeling so accomplished
about, I was able to write all my thoughts in the paragraph. The first learning outcome is to watch out
for my grammar mistakes in paragraphs. For example, the use of an article like a, an and the in the
sentence formation. The other example is how to use proper tense in the sentence. The new skills I
developed that, I will always proofread my work so I can catch my grammar mistakes. The second
learning outcome is how to structure my paragraph

Arthur Koestler s Darkness At Noon, By George Orwell
The Russian Revolution in 1917 was a major event that captured the attention of several people
around the world. In an attempt to portray this occurrence, George Orwell wrote Animal Farm.
Through Secker Warburg, Orwell published various books that explore important topics such as
poverty, an individual s role in society, and politics. Even though nowadays people consider Animal
Farm a literary classic, the population did not receive the book well when Secker Warburg published it
in 1945. The facts that the Modern Library List of Best 20th Century Novels placed Animal Farm on
31st place, the novel won a Retrospective Hugo Award in 1996, and the Great Books of the Western
World included Animal Farm in its selection, prove Animal Farm s popularity. It is clear that Joseph

during the Stalinist Great Purge and Moscow Trials, which expresses the author s disillusionment over
the communism that the Soviet Union practiced. Along with corruption of power, Animal Farm
demonstrates how easily people start believing that the government is doing the right thing to protect
them when it is, in fact, doing bad things. This is why everyone should read Animal Farm. People
need to be aware that when someone rises to power in a moment of instability, the population feels
afraid to question his/her attitude, since the public wants things to become better. However, by not
doing so, the government ends up deceiving and taking advantage of society. The consequences of
letting government mislead people is another imperative topic that Animal Farm

Michel Foucault s Theory Of Discipline And Punishment
Michel Foucault states in Discipline and Punishment that the Panopticon is a marvelous machine
which, whatever use one may wish to put it to, produces homogeneous effects of power (Foucault
188). Examining the evolution, physical characteristics, and psychological effects of the Panopticon
allows one to understand the mechanism by which the Panopticon produces power. Most inventions
develop through an evolutionary process while attempting to improve a situation or solve a problem.
Often, a prototype precedes a new structure or mechanism. Foucault uses the term projects to describe
two historical events and the social responses to resolve the problems associated with these events. He
suggests that the Panopticon developed from these two projects, the quarantine of the plague and
colonizing the lepers. Foucault describes how the Panopticon developed from a seventeenth century
order issued to deal with the scourge of the plague. First, a strict spatial partitioning: the closing of the
town and its outlying districts was mandated (Foucault 181). The town was further divided into
quarters, streets, and households. A syndic who was in the charge of an intendant supervised each
family in their residence. A considerable body of militia and guards at the gate ensured that the
magistrate over the town had absolute authority (Foucault 181). Only the syndics, intendants, and
guards moved about the streets (Foucault 181). They monitored and reported the

Carlos Castaneda s A Separate Reality
In the poem The Rime of the Ancyent Marinere by Samuel Coleridge, the Marinere attains a change of
mindset with regards to the sea snakes he encounters on his journey. This moment in the poem is
larger than a simple shift from the disliking to the liking of an animal; the moment shows a larger
change within the Marinere. In conjunction with the concept of seeing in Carlos Castaneda s novel: A
Separate Reality, applying this concept to the beloved Marinere, one can discover that the Marinere
completes the act of seeing. Learning this feat of the Marinere portrays him as an even robuster
character than one first assumes. By being able to see, the Marinere creates the shift in perspective

Don Juan tries to impart on Carlos the needed knowledge that to see everything must become nothing
(Castaneda, ). This does not mean that something ceases to exist, it instead hints at the ability to
release our ties to the concepts we learn and are so attached to. Additionally, don Juan reveals later in
the novel, that it hinders Carlos to have everything explained to him: He said he was through
explaining things to me because explaining only forced me to indulge (Castaneda, 255). Don Juan
attempts to create a better environment for Carlos to see by removing the reinforcement, which before
don Juan was willingly providing. The Marinere has an environment conducive for seeing on the ship.
Though this circumstance may seem far from anything pleasant, the Marinere has the benefit of being
fully removed from a culture and other people that would help to enforce the conceptualizations we
have regarding the objects we share reality with. Being alone adds to this lack of reinforcement for the

poses a dangerous threat to the trainers that are hired to perform with the whales. There are only a few
documented deaths and a long list of attacks on trainers that SeaWorld has disclosed from the public.
With the numbers rising on the attacks of trainers by whales, SeaWorld has done everything possible
to cover up the fact that these attacks are happening because of the whales captivity. SeaWorld s

An Essay About My Cultural Identity
What is my cultural identity? Personally, I don t think I am completely assured on what my cultural
identity is, but I can do my best on explaining it. However, I won t get started on that yet, first I ll
explain the occasion of me learning about my identity. At almost the beginning of the year, it was
announced in our English class that we would be doing an essay on our cultural identities. When my
teacher announced this I thought to myself, What in the world is a cultural identity, or even my
cultural identity? In these months, we have gotten to learn the definition of culture, and what it means
to us, individually., I believe that culture means a group of people that share the same customs, way of
life, and beliefs. Also, over these last couple of months we have been reading texts all about people
knowing and understanding their cultural identities, meanwhile I still didn t understand my own. All I
know is that I was born on February 11, 2002, I like movies and music, and my mom is from Chile
and my Dad is from Virginia. Now that didn t feel like enough for me to write on, but then I started
thinking about all of the cultural differences that my parents have had raising me as a person, and how
those have all combined to make me. In my short 15 years of life, the culture clashes have sometimes
affected me on my thoughts and opinions, which I ll talk about later on. As well as how movies and
music have affected my perspectives and opinions. Now there are a lot of aspects that make me as a
person, but the one I want to develop on the most would be the fact that I have been raised by two
almost completely different cultures, my dad being raised in a more conservative setting, while my
mom was raised in a more carefree, but still careful setting, but they both lived in similar living
conditions, not having a lot of money, but they found ways in their times to overcome those issues and
cope with them. Which makes them similar on how they have raised me and my two siblings, but still
quite different in other aspects. I found this part of me, with the combined cultures of my parents, to
be very conflicting at times because when my dad would talk about different topics, my mother would
just have a completely

Top 10 Drugs and Their Effects
Top 10 Drugs and Their Effects
Drug abuse is a very common problem in most countries so it seemed like a good topic for a list. This
is a list of ten of the most abused drugs and the effects they have on people.
1. Heroin
Heroin is an opiate processed directly from the extracts of the opium poppy. It was originally created
to help cure people of addiction to morphine. Upon crossing the blood brain barrier, which occurs
soon after introduction of the drug into the bloodstream, heroin is converted into morphine, which
mimics the action of endorphins, creating a sense of well being; the characteristic euphoria has been
described as an orgasm centered in the gut. One of the most common methods of heroin use is via

It is considered mainly a recreational drug that s often used with sex and associated with club drugs, as
an entheogen, and a tool in use to supplement various types of practices for transcendence including in
meditation, psychonautics, and illicit psychedelic psychotherapy whether self administered or not. The
primary effects of MDMA include an increased awareness of the senses, feelings of openness,
euphoria, empathy, love, happiness, heightened self awareness, feeling of mental clarity and an
increased appreciation of music and movement. Tactile sensations are enhanced for some users,
making physical contact with others more pleasurable. Other side effects, such as jaw clenching and
elevated pulse, are common.
7. Opium
Opium is a resinous narcotic formed from the latex released by lacerating (or scoring ) the immature

alkaloid, which is most frequently processed chemically to produce heroin for the illegal drug trade.
Opium has gradually been superseded by a variety of purified, semi synthetic, and synthetic opioids
with progressively stronger effect, and by other general anesthesia. This process began in 1817, when
Friedrich Wilhelm Adam Sertürner reported the isolation of pure morphine from opium after at least

The Colorado River
We usually think of the Grand Canyon in terms of its rocks, and the story and history that they can
contain, spanning as far back as half of the Earth s age. There is more to this canyon though than the
rocks, as it is still active as a forever changing landform, due to the power of running water. The
Colorado River has carved out the Grand Canyon in just the last nine million years. In fact, the river
itself carries about half a million tons of sediment through the Grand Canyon each and every day.
There are a number of different river types that will be talked about, and how exactly they have
effected their environment and made changes in the landscapes. Valleys were once thought to have
formed independently as water flowed down a channel within the area of the valley. What is now
known, is that all rivers (located within valleys), combined with the power of mass wasting, have
formed the valleys by picking up sediment from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A delta is when the water is calm from this loss of velocity, and the sediment can build up creating
multiple dams and small river channels, in which the water and sediment can switch between which
river channel has a greater flow. This switch can vary though, as these stronger flows on different
branch channels can last for long periods of time. Rivers have had enormous amounts of destructive
power. They have caused mass floods that have damaged towns and cities surrounding them, and have
also caused damage to families, taking lives. With all of this damage that has been caused by rivers
though, they have given back, with thriving life and people surrounding them for their beauty and
resources. One of the most important things they have done is carve out landscapes, which create
legacies to their existence. In fact, these rivers are the largest formers of the Earth s modern landscape

Sexual Orientation And The Workplace
Sexual Orientation Discrimination in the Workplace
Nelson Mandela once stated, To deny people their human rights is to challenge their very humanity.
Every human being should have the same opportunities as each other, no matter their skin color,
background, sexual orientation, career, religion, gender, or socioeconomic status. We were all given
the same human rights when we were born in the U.S., but it seems as if that is gradually taken away
from us, as we begin to stop fitting into the picture society has made for us. Many LGBT+ workers are
denied their human rights when opening up about themselves in a workplace. Sexual Orientation
effects people s stance in the workplace as a result, those whose sexual orientation do not fit the
societal norms have unequal; benefits or opportunities, wages, treatment, and lack from non
discrimination protections.
Discrimination in the workplace occurs all over the world for many different reasons, yet sexual
orientation is one of the least discussed topics. According to Emir Ozeren, In the workforce, LGBT+
employees are one of the least examined minority groups, even though they are one of the largest
groups of people in the workplace .( Sexual Orientation Discrimination in Workplace: A systematic ).
Many studies have been made about this topic one of them being a General Social Survey conducted
by The Williams Institute that found, 42% of LGBT+ identified people in the nation have experienced
sexual orientation discrimination in

Jones Department Store
I think Amy classifies the shift leaders at Jones Department Store as exempt, because of the Fair Labor
Standard Act. According to the FLSA, an employee is exempt if the employee is in charge of a
department or subdivision of the enterprise (such as a shift) (n.d., para. 15). For instance, a shift leader
working at Taco Bell may spend most of his or her time assisting customers and cashiering. However,
he or she is still considered the boss even if he or she is not actually actively engaged with his or her
managerial duties (FLSA, n.d.). Therefore, even though Jane may work most of her time assisting
customers and cashiering she s still the one who makes the managerial decisions during her shift. For
instance, she s the one who approves refunds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Alexander Hamilton Institute, the Fair Labor Standard Act say s an employee is
considered exempt if he or she meets the criteria s pertaining to the duties test. The duties test criteria
include managing a customarily recognized department or subdivision of the enterprise, customarily
and regularly direct the work of at least two or more other full time employees or their equivalent, and
the authority to hire or fire other employees, or the employee s suggestions and recommendations as to
the hiring, firing, advancement, promotion, or any other change of status of other employees must be
given particular weight (2016, para. 6). Therefore, the shift leaders at Jones Department Store are
considered exempt because they assign other associates at the store to work different areas when
needed, which is one of the criteria s pertaining to the duties test. The second advantage that causes
shift leaders at Jones Department Store to be exempt from overtime pay is that they get to sit in on
employment interviews, and typically are aware of employee terminations before the employee is
fired (Martocchio, 2013, Complete Section). According to Alexander Hamilton Institute, if you get to
help make the decision as to hire or fire someone, which shift leaders do at Jones Department Store,
then you

Jonathan Hunt s Essay Reading And Writing About A Bicycle
In the essay Reading and Writing about a Bicycle, Jonathan Hunt explains the bicycle subculture,
known as the fixie . Hunt gives the details about this sub culture of bicycle enthusiast, including the
visual appearance of both the riders and the bikes. The riders take on the appearance of a professional
road racer, along with that of skinny and scruffy kids. While the bicycles themselves can be brightly
colored and adorned with corporate names and logos, or old, scratched and chipped. While the
appearance of these fixies vary drastically, they all maintain two values that are constant. Hunt, points
to the first as being minimalistic, and the second being the lack of safety features, such as brakes.

Eclectic paradigm is a theory that provides a three thiered framework for a company to follow when
determining if it is beneficial to pursue direct foreign investment , the eclectic paradigm is assumed
that institutions will avoid transactions in the open market when internal transactions carry lower costs

The Eclectic paradigm is also known as the OLI model .The OLI stands for ownership, Location and

The Importance Of Bilingualism
Speaking another language is like being a part of a secret club that only people who can speak your
language have a membership to. When you run into a person who speaks the same language as you in
public, you get excited and converse with them because you have found another member of the club.
To people who are non bilingual, bilingualism may be used to classify those who do not belong in
your country. To English language learners, bilingualism is one s identity and their connection with
their culture. The different opinions on bilingualism have created conflict and struggles for non native
speakers. Espada describes bilingualism in The New Bathroom Policy at English High School as
something that defines one s identity and history. He expresses it as dual language speakers being able
to use the tongue of their history and identity (19). With the increasing attempts to get rid of non
native speakers, English language learners should fight to preserve their identities. Espada argues, The
repression of Spanish is part of a larger attempt to silence Latinos, and, like the crazy uncle at the
family dinner table yelling about independence or socialism, we must refuse to be silenced (297).
Espada argues that bilingual people have the responsibility to protect their culture by going against the
repression of their language. In order to prevent the silencing of a language, bilingualists must band
together. Going out in public and hearing a foreign language, people subconsciously assume the
foreigners are speaking about them. Native speakers become self conscious and filled with fear.
Espada believes non bilingual people s attempts to silence English language learners result from the
fear of not understanding a foreign language. A staff member at Lynn English High School stated, In a
spasm of paranoia, many Anglos assume that the only reason Latinos speak Spanish in their presence
is to say diabolical things about those same Anglos (Espada 121). The inability to understand the
Latino s language results in the assumption that they re badmouthing Anglos. Espada points out that
bilingualism generates toxicity because English only speakers feel bilingual people are talking behind
their back. Espada views

Emerging Markets And Developing Economies
Over the years the global economy has seen a rise in so called emerging markets . These are
developing economies which have exceeded economic performance in respect to their developing
counterparts. These economies are newly industrialized and are on their way to becoming developed
economies but have not yet reached that status. The more common and likely heard developing
economies consists of BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, and China) followed by Mexico, South Korea,
Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Indonesia. Developed nations (MEDC) include the westernised countries
such as the U.S, the U.K and Japan. In 1999, Dr. Kvint published this definition: Emerging market
country is a society transitioning from a dictatorship to a free market oriented economy, with
increasing economic freedom, gradual integration with the Global Marketplace and with other
members of the GEM (Global Emerging Market), an expanding middle class, improving standards of
living, social stability and tolerance, as well as an increase in cooperation with multilateral institutions
This essay will locate the common characteristics that emerging markets share.
The first characteristic is that they share a below average income per capita. This means that the
average person earns less in comparison to rest of the world. It can also be compared to cities, towns
or a given population but for this case the total population will be looked at to give a national average.
The income per capita is an important point as it

Dwight D Eisenhower Armed Force Analysis
In 1958, as the United States Government sought to reorganize its defense establishment, President
Dwight D. Eisenhower argued that separate ground, sea and air warfare is gone forever. If ever again
we should be involved in war, we will fight in all elements, with all services, as one single
concentrated effort. Eisenhower based his assessment on his experiences as Supreme Allied
Commander in Europe during World War II, but his insight has had a tremendous influence on the way
that the armed services fight. Today the armed services operate as a joint force, yet each service
provides important capabilities, some of which are unique to that service alone. Through law,
Congress has assigned certain roles to each service. These are the broad ... Show more content on

number of heavy vehicles means that it takes time to transport an armored BCT from home station to a
crisis zone a process that requires loading BCT equipment on cargo ships for weeks long voyages to a
theater of operations. In some theaters where a rapid response is essential, such as the Persian Gulf
and South Korea, the Army has established pre positioned stocks of armored BCT equipment sets so
that BCTs can deploy faster by flying soldiers from home station without having to wait for their

Cultural Diversity In College
It s important for students to have a cultural diversity in a college because it helps them to keep an
open mind and learn about the different cultures around them instead of being kept in a bubble of
isolation. Also, it connects people that comes from different backgrounds which can help them grow
their minds when it comes to learning about a tradition that comes from someone else s culture. This
can be able to open up new opportunities such as careers either within their area or overseas. Another
thing is that it helps the students become self aware with decisions the students might make based on a
certain problem that the students might face in their life. Culture diversity not only helps you to
become more open minded, but to also connect with the world. Without having an open mind the
students will just have a narrow view of the world since they re not expanding their views from
outside of it except from what they are given to see. We think it s important to show that great higher
education can be there for all people (Watanabe 1). Also it help the students to promote creative
thinking, when it comes to problems one might go through they would have many options with the
decisions they are deciding about instead just staying inside the box. The students has the opportunity
to go and find the solution through a different way. This explains how in a college with a cultural
diversity can affect the student s education, but in a good way that can be spread around and

  • 2. I Think Ktm Dirt Bikes Are Better Than Yamaha Dirt Bike I think KTM dirt bikes are better than Yamaha dirt bikes. KTM might not sell as many in the United States compared to Yamaha, but if you look at an international race you will see that 90% of the athletes ride KTMs. The KTM is built in Austria, where the Yamahas are built in Japan. Both companies build both track and trail bikes, and two strokes and four strokes. KTMs are famous for their crazy power from their two stroke line. Yamaha is known for producing good, reliable four stroke bikes. KTM was founded back in 1934 by Hans Trunkenpolz but didn t start large production and sales of motorcycles until 1981. Yamaha was founded in 1955 by a group of people from Japan, they also produce ATVs, boats, and sailboats. Yamaha ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The KTM also comes equipped with a self adjusting hydraulic clutch that works amazing, the clutch is very smooth and powerful. Now compare it to the Yamaha s old school cable clutch, which is relatively smooth, but can sometimes get hung up in the cable housing, or the cable gets stretched out and needs to be replaced often. The KTM comes stock with billet hubs, these are amazing hubs that are super smooth rolling and relatively low maintenance. The reason that I like the KTM better than the Yamaha is because I have both brand bikes. I ride the KTM the most because I like the way it feels and the massive amount of power behind it. It is a fast, nimble bike great for both motocross and enduro. I have also worked on both bikes and can say that the KTM is far easier to work on. The Yamaha is still a good bike, but the KTM is just better in my opinion. The Yamaha is kind of an old bike now; they haven t changed the frame or the engine since 2006 when they did a whole makeover to the bike. The suspension has had some tuning in the recent years, they upgraded to SSS suspension and added some wider foot pegs. The biggest thing that they upgraded for this year were the graphics that were looking kind of old. Some people will argue that the Yamaha is a bit more reliable than the KTM is, and I will have to agree with that. Since the Yamaha is an older bike, they have some of the bugs worked out of it and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. How Do the Makers of Trainspotting Depict British Youth... Poison or Pearls, Reality or Fantasy? (Street 110): How do the makers of Trainspotting depict British youth sub culture and what methods of filming do they use to communicate their message in the surrealist way the film is famous for? Trainspotting (1996) is a depiction of the squalid depravities and exploitative self interest that characterises the everyday life of heroin addiction. (Petrie 90) Its realistic style, use of language and unflinching portrayal of drug use was what first attracted me to look at it a bit closer. Based on the novel by Irvine Welsh, it tells the story of a group of working class unemployed drug addicts, focusing on their problems with heroin abuse, inability to get a job and family problems. Set in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1950 Roman Jakobson introduced a theory concerned with the way that language and communication is used. This is used in film to convey a message to the audience. His system is that the `addresser sends a message to the `addressee , and the dominant function of the message determines the meaning. The various forms that the function can take are; Referential; Emotive; Conative; Phatic; Metalingual and Poetic. One of these functions will be dominant according to Jakobson, thus playing a determining and shaping role with respect to the meaning of the message the addresser sends to the addressee (Lothe 15). This is used in films such as Trainspotting in a way that is not entirely obvious to the audience, as it is disguised by the narrative. The scene where Tommy takes them into the typical Scottish countryside for a walk, and Mark Renton (Ewan McGregor) starts complaining about Scottish people, when Tommy says: Doesn t it make you proud to be Scottish? and Mark replies with: I hate being Scottish, we re the lowest of the fucking low, the scum of the earth, the most wretched, servile, miserable, pathetic trash that was ever shat into civilisation. Some people hate the English, but I don t. The English are wankers. We, on the other hand, are colonised by wankers. We can t even choose a decent race to be colonised by. • 4. Wireless Security And Vulnerability In The Wireless Network Vulnerability in the Wireless Network Rafael Reccy Seminole State College Abstract Wi Fi can be found anywhere in this day in age, you can walk into almost any establishment and you ll be sure to find their Wi Fi, accessible from anywhere within their spaces. Each data packet being transmitted through the air, whether containing private, sensitive or insensitive information, is available for an attacker to capture. To fight against this, there have been some standards that have come out through the years to guard and protect data, such as WPA. All standards have been created to replace the preceding one due to vulnerabilities found in the engineering of them. Still to this day, not every standard is fully secure, attackers still find ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although, there is one of the vulnerabilities that is pretty much impossible to guard against, DoS like Molta points out, Other problems are looming, the most pernicious of which are DoS (denial of service) attacks. While DoS is a fact of life on all networks, it s worse on wireless networks because not only do you need to guard against attacks at Layer 2 and above, you re also extremely vulnerable to physical layer attacks to the medium (Molta, 2002, p. 18). In this essay, some vulnerabilities will be looked at that can affect Wi Fi home users as well as businesses that implement wireless networks because both types of networks can be affected by the same types of intrusion or disruption attacks. Even though this paper is about vulnerabilities, it is important to point out that wi fi networks can still be operated safely with a high level of security in place. Wireless networks are considered vulnerable when an incident occurs that exploits the capability to perform the desired requirement of maintaining performance and concealment of data. Most vulnerabilities happen because of the science behind a wireless network, the fact that it uses air as a medium makes it harder to protects because the environment of air is not stable and when it comes to delivering sacred information you must be on ... To Drill or Not to Drill Essay As a resident of Pennsylvania I take the position that at the present time, along with other residents, environmental groups, local governments, and even businesses that we are against drilling for natural gas here in our state at this time! Developing our energy resources can not come at the expense of our environmental resources our water, our land, and our ecosystems. Over the past few years natural gas drilling in Pennsylvania has become a popular topic of controversy. The reason this topic is so controversial to a Pennsylvania resident is because of the impact it has on our environment. Natural gas drilling companies are racing to the state of Pennsylvania looking to drill into areas containing Marcellus Shale, a deep ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The clean drinking water supplied to millions of people and wildlife species are at serious risk. The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection recently fined a drilling company after methane gas leaked from a drilling operation and seeped into nearby residential wells ( Marcellus Shale ). This is not a common occurrence; the problem of methane gas migrating into ground water is a very serious problem. You can not drink water, shower or wash clothes with water that has been contaminated with methane. There is documented proof, including video that actually shows water from a kitchen faucet being ignited into flames with a lighter, the water containing enough methane gas to become flammable. Property owners that sold land rights to gas companies are now second guessing their decisions and suffering the dilemma of tainted ground water and well water. Therefore, developing the Marcellus Shale formation requires very large amounts of fresh water and fluid disposal. Recent inspections by the state have uncovered violations that threaten Pennsylvania water resources and its environment. Violations include poorly constructed and dangerous water retention ponds, inadequate erosion and sediment controls, improper waste and fluid disposal and also improper and unregistered withdrawals of water from streams. Meanwhile, oil and gas wells expel ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Peloton s winning strategy was effective in 2006 and allowed Peloton Partners to become one of the top hedge funds in the country. Ron Beller, the head of the company bet against the United States housing market. Before the subprime crisis hit the country, and people started to default on their mortgage, Beller was able to earn a healthy return by taking a short position on the housing market. It was hedged against the less risky layer of the CDO s or same securities. Although, the risky securities incur losses, hedging against the less risky securities paid more when the market collapsed. How could Magnetar have lost money? Using information from the rest of the case, describe how you think they came to the conclusion that the risk of losing money was remote. (Hint: Though this is a tough question, the answer has to do with how assets in the CDO are correlated). The risk of losing money lies in the correlation with the asset. Magnetar could lose money if a high correlation exists which would create non diversifiable risk. Thus, there is a high likelihood that the senior tranches of CDO s get impaired. If Magnetar contained securities related to the housing market that is not geographically diverse, then it will have a higher correlation. Thus, the housing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The escalation of prices of the main ingrediants such as cocoa, milk and sugar has forced companies to increase prices. Customers showed resistance to higher prices which prompted brands such as Cadbury amp; Masterfoods (Galaxy) to reduce packaging sizes. Concerns among the public regarding obesity has also led chocolate companies to bring out smaller sizes of chocolate. With excess production capacity and lesser competition, several players engage in price competition to get higher sales. Cadbury goes head to head with Nestle amp; Mars as other players have fairly smaller market shares and often struggle due to these top companies. According to Hooley et all (Marketing strategy and competitive positioning) high exit barriers for a company lead to higher competition as well. If a company is unable to exit a market due to high initial investments, high costs of redundancy (monetary and social) they work harder to compete with other companies. Several companies have egotistical as well as psychological reasons for remaining in a market and ensure they stay on top of people s minds as exiting is not an option due to brand history and value. Brands such as Cadbury have incredible media presence covering internet, television, print, etc. Cadbury is a major player on the internet and uses this tool as an advantage over competitors. Newer avenues such as E markets are intensifying competition and deterring exit of big companies. Competition in the chocolate industry is also increased due to the fact that product differentiation is low. Some people in this industry are trying to push more representation of the females who play these games. Many people are supporting this and pushing the change but some are opposed to it. Gaming design is influenced by preexisting sexist ideas. Through the history of video games women have always been represented poorly. The main characters of video games tend to be white males and they do deserve representation but they are not the only ones who deserve it. Popular video games like Call of Duty, Watchdogs, and Assassin s Creed all have similar main characters throughout the series; tall, muscular, and powerful men. Though the video game industry has done a poor job of representing women, men are also subject to the pressure of video games and media. Halo and Mortal Kombat are long running video game series and the physical appearances of their characters has been studied through their history. Female characters have become more slender with larger breasts and wear less clothing. Male characters have become more muscular and aggressive. • 9. Literary Analysis Of The Necklace In The Necklace the authors choice of words, or diction, is very well articulated. I enjoyed this story because the narrator, Guy de Maupassant sets us so much suspense with the tone of the story. Madame Louisel essentailly loses a valuable item, or so she thought, and goes to major extents and even life deminishing problems to just make it seem like she was not responsible enough to take care of a necklace for a night. The story intially takes place at a ball that Madame Louisel has been invited to by her husband. In the beginning of the story Madame is very indecisive about making an appearance at the ball. She complained she did not have a dress, any jewels, and she was scared she would look like a pauper (174). She did not want to look poor around a bunch of rich woman, so she had asked a friend for a piece of jewelry to wear for the night. Excited, she picks out the diamond necklace that seemed to stand out to her. She adored it. The narrator describes it as lovliest of all, elegant, smiling, and radiating with joy (175). Having a blast at the party, dancing, drinking, and not thinking about anything else, Madame left the ball around four in the morning. Calling a cab, Madame and her husband were on their way home, delighted with the fun night that they had. During this time, alcohol and tobacco ads were on the TV almost as much as regular programs (Danna). This source is credible because the author has written many articles for the Chicago Tribune before. When alcohol and tobacco advertising first started they actually argued that smoking and drinking was beneficial for the human body. We spend years learning how to increase our attributes (speed, timing, fine motor skill, sensitivity, etc.), how to defend ourselves and our loved ones, and how to reach that higher spiritual awareness that makes us better people. Most of us could not imagine our lives without it. We love getting off work or out of school and going to our respective Dojo/Dojang/Kwoon and spending some time working out. We feel centered and ready to take on our lives after a couple of hours of Training and Randori. We may even find time during our regular day for some Carenza or Kata. It just makes feel good and hey we are warriors so of course we make the time in our lives for this pursuit. This article is not for you the standard martial artist, at least not in the way you expect. This article is for those who believe they can t. Those that believe martial arts is an impossibility or at least severely limited due to their limitations...their handicaps. • 14. Arthur Koestler s Darkness At Noon, By George Orwell The Russian Revolution in 1917 was a major event that captured the attention of several people around the world. In an attempt to portray this occurrence, George Orwell wrote Animal Farm. Through Secker Warburg, Orwell published various books that explore important topics such as poverty, an individual s role in society, and politics. Even though nowadays people consider Animal Farm a literary classic, the population did not receive the book well when Secker Warburg published it in 1945. The facts that the Modern Library List of Best 20th Century Novels placed Animal Farm on 31st place, the novel won a Retrospective Hugo Award in 1996, and the Great Books of the Western World included Animal Farm in its selection, prove Animal Farm s popularity. Along with corruption of power, Animal Farm demonstrates how easily people start believing that the government is doing the right thing to protect them when it is, in fact, doing bad things. This is why everyone should read Animal Farm. People need to be aware that when someone rises to power in a moment of instability, the population feels afraid to question his/her attitude, since the public wants things to become better. However, by not doing so, the government ends up deceiving and taking advantage of society. The consequences of letting government mislead people is another imperative topic that Animal Farm ... • 15. Michel Foucault s Theory Of Discipline And Punishment Michel Foucault states in Discipline and Punishment that the Panopticon is a marvelous machine which, whatever use one may wish to put it to, produces homogeneous effects of power (Foucault 188). Examining the evolution, physical characteristics, and psychological effects of the Panopticon allows one to understand the mechanism by which the Panopticon produces power. Most inventions develop through an evolutionary process while attempting to improve a situation or solve a problem. Often, a prototype precedes a new structure or mechanism. Foucault uses the term projects to describe two historical events and the social responses to resolve the problems associated with these events. He suggests that the Panopticon developed from these two projects, the quarantine of the plague and colonizing the lepers. Foucault describes how the Panopticon developed from a seventeenth century order issued to deal with the scourge of the plague. First, a strict spatial partitioning: the closing of the town and its outlying districts was mandated (Foucault 181). The town was further divided into quarters, streets, and households. A syndic who was in the charge of an intendant supervised each family in their residence. A considerable body of militia and guards at the gate ensured that the magistrate over the town had absolute authority (Foucault 181). Only the syndics, intendants, and guards moved about the streets (Foucault 181). They monitored and reported the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Carlos Castaneda s A Separate Reality In the poem The Rime of the Ancyent Marinere by Samuel Coleridge, the Marinere attains a change of mindset with regards to the sea snakes he encounters on his journey. This moment in the poem is larger than a simple shift from the disliking to the liking of an animal; the moment shows a larger change within the Marinere. In conjunction with the concept of seeing in Carlos Castaneda s novel: A Separate Reality, applying this concept to the beloved Marinere, one can discover that the Marinere completes the act of seeing. Don Juan tries to impart on Carlos the needed knowledge that to see everything must become nothing (Castaneda, ). This does not mean that something ceases to exist, it instead hints at the ability to release our ties to the concepts we learn and are so attached to. Additionally, don Juan reveals later in the novel, that it hinders Carlos to have everything explained to him: He said he was through explaining things to me because explaining only forced me to indulge (Castaneda, 255). Don Juan attempts to create a better environment for Carlos to see by removing the reinforcement, which before don Juan was willingly providing. The Marinere has an environment conducive for seeing on the ship. Though this circumstance may seem far from anything pleasant, the Marinere has the benefit of being fully removed from a culture and other people that would help to enforce the conceptualizations we have regarding the objects we share reality with. Being alone adds to this lack of reinforcement for the Marinere: Alone, alone, all all alone/ A lone on the wide wide Sea (IV, 224 225). He no longer a shares thoughts with his fellow crewmen. This removes him from the group mentality, which is a very strong factor within the crew even during their deaths: Each turned his face ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Killer Whales Killer Whales: Abused Mistreated While many people have experienced the majestic showcasing of trained orcas in public displays at recreational parks such as SeaWorld, few have heard of the tragic events that these killer whales go through while in captivity. It is ironic that such family oriented companies like SeaWorld, who pride themselves in giving families experiences that they will never forget, can just tear families of killer whales apart and abuse them while training them. With such a high mortality rate with the breeding and captivity of these killer whales, big companies like SeaWorld still continue their day to day operations, to ensure that their revenue never stops increasing. But the captivity of these whales poses a dangerous threat to the trainers that are hired to perform with the whales. There are only a few documented deaths and a long list of attacks on trainers that SeaWorld has disclosed from the public. With the numbers rising on the attacks of trainers by whales, SeaWorld has done everything possible to cover up the fact that these attacks are happening because of the whales captivity. SeaWorld s prized killer whale Tilikum, was involved in a death of a trainer, and yet 13 months later was rejoined with SeaWorld s cast, and has become the most popular killer whale in the show business. It is extremely unfair and immoral to profit from the mistreatment of animals. Many marine parks and recreational parks use killer whales as their main attraction, and without the whales the attendance would drop drastically. However, I won t get started on that yet, first I ll explain the occasion of me learning about my identity. At almost the beginning of the year, it was announced in our English class that we would be doing an essay on our cultural identities. When my teacher announced this I thought to myself, What in the world is a cultural identity, or even my cultural identity? In these months, we have gotten to learn the definition of culture, and what it means to us, individually., I believe that culture means a group of people that share the same customs, way of life, and beliefs. Also, over these last couple of months we have been reading texts all about people knowing and understanding their cultural identities, meanwhile I still didn t understand my own. All I know is that I was born on February 11, 2002, I like movies and music, and my mom is from Chile and my Dad is from Virginia. Now that didn t feel like enough for me to write on, but then I started thinking about all of the cultural differences that my parents have had raising me as a person, and how those have all combined to make me. In my short 15 years of life, the culture clashes have sometimes affected me on my thoughts and opinions, which I ll talk about later on. As well as how movies and music have affected my perspectives and opinions. Now there are a lot of aspects that make me as a person, but the one I want to develop on the most would be the fact that I have been raised by two almost completely different cultures, my dad being raised in a more conservative setting, while my mom was raised in a more carefree, but still careful setting, but they both lived in similar living conditions, not having a lot of money, but they found ways in their times to overcome those issues and cope with them. Which makes them similar on how they have raised me and my two siblings, but still quite different in other aspects. I found this part of me, with the combined cultures of my parents, to be very conflicting at times because when my dad would talk about different topics, my mother would just have a completely ... Every human being should have the same opportunities as each other, no matter their skin color, background, sexual orientation, career, religion, gender, or socioeconomic status. We were all given the same human rights when we were born in the U.S., but it seems as if that is gradually taken away from us, as we begin to stop fitting into the picture society has made for us. Many LGBT+ workers are denied their human rights when opening up about themselves in a workplace. Sexual Orientation effects people s stance in the workplace as a result, those whose sexual orientation do not fit the societal norms have unequal; benefits or opportunities, wages, treatment, and lack from non discrimination protections. However, he or she is still considered the boss even if he or she is not actually actively engaged with his or her managerial duties (FLSA, n.d.). • 28. The Importance Of Bilingualism Speaking another language is like being a part of a secret club that only people who can speak your language have a membership to. When you run into a person who speaks the same language as you in public, you get excited and converse with them because you have found another member of the club. To people who are non bilingual, bilingualism may be used to classify those who do not belong in your country. To English language learners, bilingualism is one s identity and their connection with their culture. The different opinions on bilingualism have created conflict and struggles for non native speakers. Espada describes bilingualism in The New Bathroom Policy at English High School as something that defines one s identity and history. He expresses it as dual language speakers being able to use the tongue of their history and identity (19). With the increasing attempts to get rid of non native speakers, English language learners should fight to preserve their identities. Espada argues, The repression of Spanish is part of a larger attempt to silence Latinos, and, like the crazy uncle at the family dinner table yelling about independence or socialism, we must refuse to be silenced (297). Espada argues that bilingual people have the responsibility to protect their culture by going against the repression of their language. In order to prevent the silencing of a language, bilingualists must band together. Going out in public and hearing a foreign language, people subconsciously assume the foreigners are speaking about them. Native speakers become self conscious and filled with fear. Espada believes non bilingual people s attempts to silence English language learners result from the fear of not understanding a foreign language. A staff member at Lynn English High School stated, In a spasm of paranoia, many Anglos assume that the only reason Latinos speak Spanish in their presence is to say diabolical things about those same Anglos (Espada 121). The inability to understand the Latino s language results in the assumption that they re badmouthing Anglos. Espada points out that bilingualism generates toxicity because English only speakers feel bilingual people are talking behind their back. Espada views ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cultural Diversity In College It s important for students to have a cultural diversity in a college because it helps them to keep an open mind and learn about the different cultures around them instead of being kept in a bubble of isolation. Also, it connects people that comes from different backgrounds which can help them grow their minds when it comes to learning about a tradition that comes from someone else s culture. This can be able to open up new opportunities such as careers either within their area or overseas. Another thing is that it helps the students become self aware with decisions the students might make based on a certain problem that the students might face in their life. Culture diversity not only helps you to become more open minded, but to also connect with the world. Without having an open mind the students will just have a narrow view of the world since they re not expanding their views from outside of it except from what they are given to see.
