2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasnât one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Operation âBlue Starâ is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
The Indian economy is classified into different sectors to simplify the analysis and understanding of economic activities. For Class 10, it's essential to grasp the sectors of the Indian economy, understand their characteristics, and recognize their importance. This guide will provide detailed notes on the Sectors of the Indian Economy Class 10, using specific long-tail keywords to enhance comprehension.

⢠donât know why people who bully others think they are stronger, thatâs what a bully teaches,
being stronger against whoâs weaker but weâd rather teach them THEY are the weakest
anche they have to feel ashamed not honoured by others. Think twice before doing
something if you donât want that happen to you!!
⢠I think the survey was a very good experience to understand what you do and it also helps
understanding what's wrong in our behaviour with our classmates
⢠I think the only way to stop bullying is telling to somebody what is happening
⢠I would like to say thank you to the organisers of this project that have thought to care
about problems among students. I hope it will make a difference.
⢠I'm glad that someone is trying to solve these problems

⢠Teachers have to take more care of students and take fair measures about the
issue. Bullism is a serious matter and we must not underestimate the consequences
of this phenomenon. I think that students should have the opportunity to talk with teachers
and with the head teacher without fear. Moreover, not always students are bullied by other
students but by professors, the head teacher must take in consideration this thing.
⢠Definitely there are comments from anyone who happens daily. unfortunately there are
those who do it in an arrogant and rude manner, for no reason or anyway for really futile
reasons that I thought were overcome at the age of twenty. evidently some people can
become ridiculous to comment someone physically when you already know it mentally
speaking. it is sad then to enter a class where everyone is judged every time. I hope itâd be
solved, not for me that Iâm finishing but for the future.

⢠Itâs a pity that people think that being the bravest or the best means
underestimate the others, or worse, bullying the others. I consider it as a non-
human behaviour because teasing itâs unacceptable when it overcomes the
limits that everyone should know, and actually everyone definitely know
them. Thereâs not a difference between verbal and physical violence. In fact
sometimes the verbal one is worse, because words weigh on our brain and
our thoughts for a long period of time, especially if they are bad words.
Trying to fight bullying is something possible and I do believe that. But the
first step has to be made by parents and adults around teens.

⢠I think the worst thing about bullying isnât the one on social media, people can hide
under a picuture and treat or talk badly about people without telling names but they
make you fell bad.
⢠I think that bullies are shy people with problems of personality
⢠I argue that the best way to prevent bullying is to intervene on children when they
are very young and on their families to prevent them from giving a bad example
⢠If you are being bullied, you have to cut down the situation fastly, or you will not get
away with this.
