The Art Pastor's Guide to Sabbath | Steve ThomasonSteve Thomason
What is the purpose of the Sabbath Law in the Torah. It is interesting to compare how the context of the law shifts from Exodus to Deuteronomy. Who gets to rest, and why?
We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

Summer Holidays Throughout the summer holidays, I had homework set which
was to annotate a magazine with what makes it a good music
magazine. This helped me understand the importance of a music
magazine, and the essential parts that makes it good.
Monday 9th September Throughout this week, I have created my blog page by adding an
annotation on slide 11 of it about a pacific music magazine.
I also assessed previous work from last year and included a
‘WWW’ and ‘EBI’. This helped me, as now I know the
expectations and standards to work up to.
Monday 16th September In this lesson today, I have learnt the three main aspects that
2. include in a music magazine which targets the audience which
are Katz’ uses and Gratification, Heartly’s Seven Subjectivities
and Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs
I also completed a worksheet that spoke about the target
audience to my chosen magazine which were gender, age, socio-
economic needs and why, katz’ uses and gratifications theory
and Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and stereotypes.
I also took a picture of Abbie Folwer, which shows the
stereotypical reader of my chosen magazine, printed it out and
stuck it on my worksheet.
Throughout the week, I have also done my homework which
were to complete my blog that included the cover page, contents
and double spread page
Also, I completed slide 13 on my log book and evolution
Monday 23rd September Throughout the time from my last update on the schedule,
completed another slide to my logbook, which was slide 10. I
also, used time outside of lesson to do it for homework.
I also created a questionnaire, which allowed me to make
questions for people to answer on Survey Monkey.
I also annotated a magazine from a student last year to
understand what I needed to include when making my school
magazine.
I then started a mind map of names I would like to use for my
school magazine.
3. I started on a sketch front cover.
Throughout the week, I took a picture of the student that is used
for my main image on my magazine front cover
I have also finished my preliminary hand drawn task, I also
found a name for my school magazine
In the lesson, I started using Photoshop and started on my front
cover of my school magazine
When starting my front cover magazine, I learnt most of the tools
that I need to
Monday 30th September Throughout the week, I went to an academy class to learn how to
use Photoshop
I had to complete my survey monkey with all my results from my
questions, print screen them and put them in my power point to
show evidence and print them out to scan them
I then kept on completing my school magazine front cover so I
can get as much done as I can
My deadline for my front cover is Wednesday 9th October
Monday 7th October I have finished my front cover for the deadline
I learnt loads of different things when using Photoshop, so I can
do as well as I can when doing it
Monday 14th October I collected my corrections for my front cover and completed it to
my best ability
I started to look at different examples from the previous years to
see how they did
4. I also annotated someone’s work from the previous year so I can
understand what things I need to include when doing my
contents their contents page
I then did my hand drawn draft for my contents page using
different ideas from previous years and also from the example
that was already saved.
I have now started on my contents page, by doing the 6
conventions that I was told to do to start with.
Such as -

done them so it will look much better
I didn’t finish the contents page at the end of the lesson so I will
use my free time to finish off my contents page
Half Term
5. Monday 4th November In my lesson, I started to think about what kind of Mastheads I might
want for my Pop Magazine front cover, and it was ‘Pop Perfect’ I then
found a perfect font on defont.com which was a good font as it fitted
well in my genre of magazine which was pop. I then completed my
hand drawn draft of my pop magazine.
Monday 11th November In this particular lesson, I have started on my official music magazine
front cover by starting with the first 6 conventions such as, barcode,
issue, date, price, social networking link and the puff. This has given
me a good head start with my magazine so I can complete it in good
time. In another lesson from the same week, I have completed another

headline. As I completed all these in my double lesson, I am now

my corrections needed for previous coursework such as my main task
front cover etc. All these corrections need to be done in my own time

when I come back to it next lesson. For this double lesson, I have done
all my cover lines and the sub lines in full detail, added in my web
address and signature and started on my editorial, by next lesson I
will have my pictures for one of my cover lines and a picture of me for

my contents page.

Selena Gomez representing her new lipstick which people could win.
Monday 16th December In this lesson I had created a slide share account for me when it comes
to the end of getting all my coursework finished and then inserting
them on to slide shares so it can be more well presented and more
easier to read if all my work were to be on slide share and then
uploaded on my blog page.
