Tiananmen Square Protests 1989
In the year of 1989, the People s Republic of China remains under a communist regime. As the
world is moving forward with new technologies and innovations empowering new beliefs,
democracy is becoming the next big government. China s economy is slowly flourishing and their
traditions still hang on. But with the increasing amount of western influences pouring into China
through foreign trade, people are beginning to notice the wrong in communism. Citizens of China
gradually learn more and more of the values and benefits of democracyand a small spark of change
for a better government soon turns into a blazing inferno seen across the globe. The Tiananmen

Tiananmen has had very little effect on China in 2017, but in the years following 1989, China
was in turmoil. As factions began to rise within the CCP and the thought of their lost loved ones
are still fresh in people s minds, a threat of yet another movement was growing. Fueled by their
fear of revolution, China s government unifies its members under a single mission, to eliminate
and destroy all information on Tiananmen. A purge begins of all documents and articles of
Tiananmen. Over the decades, China has hidden and censored many articles, websites, media,
etc about Tiananmen from its people and has killed many who dared to talk of the June Fourth
Incident and anything else the CCP sees as undesirable. For example, in 1996 Falun Gong, a
popular buddhist practice that embodies the ideals of peace, balance and harmony, grew
extremely popular. Falun Gong was mainly practiced through meditation and involved peaceful
practices, but the CCP feared that it would grow too popular and eventually turn into a political
rival. To prevent being overthrown, the CCP punished anyone who dare to practice Falun Gong
within the People s Republic of China (PRC) by beating them and torturing them. The photos of
the victims of this brutal persecution caused fear to spark in the country and as a result of this
terror, not one person of the 1.381 billion people that inhabit Chinese soil talk about the protests or
anything that the CCP dislikes as the sword of death is always hanging precariously above their

Nineteen Thousand Leagues Under The Sea
Characters have a way of becoming real people with ideals, feelings, raw emotions and
personality traits that anyone can connect with in their own unique way. An adventure such as
deep sea exploring is a chance few in the world get; being able to live it through Jules Verne s
book Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, readers are able to escape from the world around
them and dive deep into an underwater world of great proportions. Due to detailed accounts of
mesmerizing and dangerous creatures that are thousands of leagues under the sea, as well as events
that conflict with human morals, the reader is able to see what Pierre Arronax saw, be consumed
by fascination like Conseil was, and feel imprisonment like Ned Land felt. Throughout the... Show

Much like Aronnax, a oceanic scientist , Conseil is intelligent and well educated classification
obsessed person and in most ways a servant to Aronnax (Cain 1, Barrow 2032, Drabble 5). Ned
Land, the forty year old harpooner, on the other hand is a man of action, not of scientific analysis,
and he is used to the sea s surface, not its depth (Barrow 2032). Not being accustomed to the
ocean s depths, but rather it s surface provides great conflict for Land having been a master hunter
of the sea on a boat and not in a submarine. Due to their different professions, their automatic biased
opinions shape their actions; Aronnax, Conseil, and Ned Land thus takes different stances when it
comes to life on the Nautilus, down to the smallest of things like the food to what Captain Nemo is
really like.
When Aronnax, Conseil, and Land meet Captain Nemo he is seen as a mysterious man capably of
dangerous things. Throughout the novel, Aronnax discovers interesting sides to Captain Nemo he
never expected. Upon being taken into the Nautilus, Captain Nemo shows Aronnax around the
submarine explaining how everything works proving Captain Nemo s intelligence in order to
design something so technically advanced (Verne 67). Also stated by Sian Cain, their captor is the
mysterious Captain Nemo, an intelligent, quiet man who hates all who live on land (1). As the
novel continues, Captain Nemo rarely talks

Iago By William Shakespeare s Othello
Iago is able to manipulate different characters throughout Othello by appearing to be honest and
trustworthy, and using this to make people believe what he is saying is the truth. This means that
Iago can tell them what he wants, in order to achieve whatever he desires. Simply, Iago is a two
faced character. A very ironic part of the play is when Iagosays, By Janus , as Janus is a two faced
Roman god.
The first person/character is Rodrigo. Rodrigo is blinded by his love for Desdemona and is prepared
to try anything to win her heart. This makes him an easy target for Iago, as Rodrigo will do
anything to get what he wants, Desdemona. Rodrigo is initially upset with Iago, as he has paid
Iago to encourage a marriage between him and Desdemona, but instead Desdemona had married
Othello. However, Iago easily restores Rodrigo s faith in him by saying his hatred for Othello he
says with erratic words, like despise me, I do not when Rodrigo asks if he hates Othello. Rodrigo is
used for his money, Iago tells his him repeatedly to put money in thy purse . Even when Rodrigo
threatens Iago, assure yourself I will seek satisfaction of you (Scene four), he doesn t have the
necessary the mindset and power to back up his threats, and instead is convinced by Iago to murder
Cassio by knocking out his brains . However, Iago intents Rodrigo, as well as Cassio to live
Rodrigo . To make sure of this he stabs Rodrigo after Cassio wounds him.

Soccer Is A Sport Essay
Many people around the world enjoy soccer, people s obsession over soccer can range from
anything that has to do with the sport, watching soccer even playing soccer video games. Most
people do not understand why so many people are attracted to the sport. However, if you think
about it it is the emotions that are shared between the teams and the viewers, the connection
between everyone that is involved is so strong that it can lead to strong bonds and ties to specific
players or teams.
The history of soccer can be traced back thousands of years and there are multiple countries who
claim they created the sport. However, the country that transitioned and developed the sport was
England. The Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) stated, For all the evidence
of early ball sports played elsewhere in the world, the evolution of football as we know it today
took place in Britain. The game that flourished in the British Isles from the eighth to the 19th
centuries featured a considerable variety of local and regional versions which were subsequently ...

The Post Cold War Era
In the post Cold War era, the nature of conflicts and events that give rise to the need for
humanitarian assistance have significantly evolved. For those caught in the middle of the war on
terror in the Middle East, or unprecedented violence in Africa, the need to build relationships with
the spectator in order to motivate donations is ever present. The relationship between the spectator
and the suffering has significantly changed in the past few decades and NGOs and individuals
seeking to motivate people to donate must find new ways to motivate this charitable action. In the
post humanitarian era, relationship between the individual donating and the cause has into one that
is decoupled from grand emotions and based on moral agency. Today, acts of charity are being
influenced across a multitude of new technological platforms. The emergence of new technologies
brought hope that they could easily disseminate information to broader audiences and bring
attention to social causes and campaigns often ignored by traditional media. While social media
was thought to help foster a more cosmopolitan public, it s campaigns have also exemplified the
post humanitarianism concept. (Social Media) For the purpose of this essay, I analyze of the
#unselfie campaign on Twitter and Instagram in support of the victims of Typhoon Haiyan which
highlights many of the characteristics of post humanitarianism charitable action. As Lilie

Respiratory Tract Infections ( Rtis )
Respiratory Tract Infections (RTIs)
The upper respiratory tract consists of the nose, nasal passages, paranasal sinuses, pharynx and part
of the larynx above the vocal cord (Porth, 2011). Common cold (self limiting but can lead to
secondary bacterial infections), sinusitis, otitis media, croup, epiglottis, influenza and scarlet fever
are the most common complication of URI (VanMeter Hubert, 2014). On the other hand, lower
respiratory tract consists of the trachea and the lungs (bronchi, bronchioles, and alveoli (Porth,
2011). Lower respiratory tract infection includes bronchiolitis (RSVP), pneumonia, severe acute
respiratory syndrome (SARS), tuberculosis, histoplasmosis and anthrax (VanMeter Hubert, 2014).

Practitioners are inclined to prescribe antibiotic when patients clearly requested it (Llor et al., 2014).
Antibiotics are usually prescribed for non specific upper respiratory tract infection to avoid small
risks for getting worst and becoming bacterial infection. Patients with acute respiratory infection
with antibiotic treatment were not at increased risk for severe adverse effect and had a small
decreased risk of hospitalization due to pneumonia (Meropol, Localio, Metlay, 2013). Similarly,
presence of risk factors such as age 65, COPD, diabetes, heart failure, atherosclerotic heart disease,
asthma, smoking, etc. had similar prescription rate of 62% to those patients without risk factors
(Grover, Mookadam, Rutkowski, Cullan, Hill, Patchett Noble, 2012).
Pathophysiology of Common Cold
The common cold is a self limiting upper respiratory tract infection with sign and symptoms of
nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat, sneezing, and cough. It is a viral disease that does not
respond to antibiotic (Zoorob, Sidani, Fremont Kihlberg, 2012). The common culprits that cause the
infections are rhinovirus, adenovirus, parainfluenza virus or coronavirus. This virus is usually
spread through droplets via inhalation, aerosol, and secretion on hand or direct contact with
contaminated object. This infection is highly contagious since it produces a large number of
infected nasal mucosa during the first few days and can live for many days outside of a body

Luther Standing Bear, A Native American Author,...
Luther Standing Bear was a Native American author, philosopher and actor. Luther Standing
Bear was a master at using rhetoric, because with it, he benefits not only his people, but also the
human identity. Luther Standing Bear contributed all of his efforts to get the Native Americans
a place in a world that was no longer theirs. Luther Standing Bear is a pioneer in what would
eventually become a movement for Civil Rights. The ideas that he was using did not involve
insults but rather, pointed out views that others hadn t seen or thought of before. Instead of
using hatred and insults, he used his wisdom and his life experiences to express his views on the
world, and why big changes had to be executed immediately. Standing Bear uses the opportune
moment in the early 20th century, while civil rights was at its infancy to persuade the white man
that the Indian was no different than he was. Luther Standing bear was born in 1868, on the Pine
Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. Luther Standing Bear s real name was Ota K te (Plenty
Kill). For the first eleven years of his life, Standing Bear was taught the traditional ways of the
Lakota. This meant that he learned how to hunt at a young age; he also learned the tales and the
language of his people. Being taught the ways of the Lakota, Standing Bear would soon be

Minoan Culture Research Paper
The origin of the Mycenaean culture has perplexed many archaeologists for more than a century.
All the information gathered today from archaeologists are merely an approximation. The farther
back archaeologists investigate the harder it is to decipher and validate the history of the Greek
experience. However, the evidence from the Mycenaean period is crucial to the discovery and
unveiling of the development of the Greek culture. Roughly, around 3000 BC on the island of Crete
began the Bronze Age, where Sir Arthur Evans is accredited for the founding of the first
civilization. Most commonly known as the Minoan civilization, dubbed after king Minos, was an
empire in the Mediterranean. However, unlike the Mycenaeans the Minoans were not Greek. In
other words, the Minoan inhabitants were not native to the Greek language, thus deducing that the
first early greek settlers were the Mycenaeans. The Mycenaeans were heavily influenced by the

Greek society, culture and overall their foundation is accredited to the Indo European lifestyle.
Unlike the Minoans who inhabited the island of Crete, the Mycenaeans were native speakers to

tablets that were different in script. The first tablet, Linear A, contained script that even today
archaeologists are still unable to decode. Therefore, archaeologists believe that Linear A was script
belonging to the early Minoan civilization (Martin 32). Whereas, Linear B, dated much later and
included script that was much simpler to decipher. After much analysis Linear B`s script contains
forms of early Greek validating that Mycenaeans were the first early settlers of Greece. Therefore,

How Did Industrialization Affect The Lives Of Industrial...
The era of 1865 to 1900 is known as the Gilded Age. The Gilded Age witnessed the industrialization
in the United States of America. The Second Industrial Revolution was also what it was known as
due to many technological advances. Industrialization substantially affected farmers and industrial
workers, along with other parts of American society. Consequently, they also responded to this
newly emerged situation.
When the first Transcontinental Railroad was built in the year 1869, all segments of society
welcomed it with enthusiasm. Farmers were very happy; they welcomed it happily and
passionately because it was in their interest. Transporting their agricultural products from one place
to another was going to be easier for them. Although some farmers were fruitful such as bonanza
farms, many farmers were struggling (Tindall, 621). They resented high railroad tariffs that were
often considered remarkably high which made it complicated for them because they had to sell
their cotton on markets while manufactured goods made in the United States had tariffs. Most
farmers were stuck in a cycle of debt and poverty.

Joseph Turner Slave Ship Essay
My Initial Reaction to the Work
Out of the choices I had to pick from for my analysis. I chose the painting, Slave Ship by Joseph
Turner, due to the chaos I see in the painting. Not only is the event being portrayed very chaotic,
but the painting itself is full of turmoil as well. The painting has vigorous brush strokes and the
colors seem to melt together in areas, leaving the sky and the sea hard to distinguish in the middle
portion of the painting. The artist also uses bright and dark colors, allowing the creation of
pandemonium that I feel when I see this work. You can see the beginning of a storm on the left of
the painting along with a boat heading into the rougher waters caused by the weather, resulting in
the bow to be propelled upward.
The bottom portion of the painting is topsy turvy as well, showing shackled hands and chains
raised from the turbulent seas. With close inspection, you can see fish within the thrashing waves
on the bottom left portion of the painting. There are fish seen swarming a shackled hand in the
bottom right portion of the work as well. One could possibly argue that the fish are sea monsters. I
also see something that s hard for me to make out, but I think it may be an emergency boat partially
emerged from the waters. Lastly, I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The History Of Data Encryption Technology Essay
This paper discusses the history of data encryption technology. It also touches on several aspects
of data encryption technology. Furthermore, an attempt will be made to answer several key
questions like what is data encryption technology (DET). It will also detail some of the history
of DET, how DET affects the lives of people in America, and some of the future implications of
this technology. DET can be defined as the translation or changing of information/data into some
form of a secret code through a process of encryption (Merriam Webster Dictionary, 2016). This
process of encryption is key to DET because it requires the writers and readers of such encrypted
information to be able to decode that data using a secret key, or some sort of password, or
algorithm to decrypt the originally encrypted code (Sans Institute, page 4, 2001). Believe it or not,
there is a long history behind data encryption technology (Sans Institute, page 4, 2001). As a
matter of fact, the history of DET goes way back in time (Pfleeger, page 3, 2002). For example,
around 900 BC, an Egyptian scribe used non standard hieroglyphs in an inscription. (Sans Institutue,
page 6, 2001). Since those ancient times until now, there have been great advancements in DET,
and its applications. Hundreds of years later, Assyrian merchants in the 1500 BC time frame were

In the Gene Gun Route, scientists also isolate the DNA for the desired trait and splice in a gene
for antibiotic resistance. Then the isolated DNA is coated on microscopic bullets of gold or
tungston. The final step in the process is using a gene gun to fire the bullets of gold or tungston
into plant cells at the speed of sound. The result of this final step is to insert the donor DNA into
the organism s DNA (McInnis and Sinha, 2000).
Now it is time for a short pop quiz to test the reader s knowledge of how genetically modified
foods. Question one: Can you recall eating genetically modified foods? Question two: How
many genetically modified foods can you name? If you answered no to the first question, then
you are either unaware of what you are eating or not telling the truth. Most likely, your answer for
the second question was well below the number of actual genetically modified foods on the
market. The reason why you probably guessed a lower number is because genetically modified
foods have successfully infiltrated the market at a rapid rate and are in a variety of foods that
humans eat. Here is a list of just a few of them: soybeans, tomatoes, potatoes, corn, squash, zucchini,
and watermelon. In addition to these foods,

immersed in various cultures.
I first heard about this program through my Bridge Peer Advisor when she was talking about the trip
she had gone on. From the experiences that she had it seemed a very enriching time and I knew
that I should look into it. The next next I took was to look on the CGIS website where I found
this program based in Uganda. The main purpose of this trip is to help care for orphan children

An experiment to investigate the effect of changing the concentration of hydrochloric acid on the
rate of reaction with sodium thiosulpahte.
Aim
I am trying to find out how the concentration of hydrochloric acid affects the reaction time with
sodium thiosulpahte.
If a clear solution of sodium thiosulphate is mixed with hydrochloric acid then a reaction will occur
where a creamy yellow precipitate of sulphur is produced.

They all increase the number of collisions.
Fair testing
* To make this a fair test I will only change one variable.
* Each experiment will be done three times so an average can be found.
* The same equipment will be used in each experiment.
Method
В· Measure out 50ml of thiosulphate and add it to the conical flask.
В· Draw a cross on a piece of paper and place the conical flask on it.
В· Measure out 10ml of acid and add it to the conical flask and start timing.
В· Look into the top of the conical flask and when the cross can no longer be seen stop the stop
watch.
В· Do the experiment again but measure out 8ml of hydrochloric acid. Then add 2ml of distilled
water. The ratio for each experiment will therefore be 10:0, 8:2, 6:4, 4:6 and of acid to water
Conclusion
I conclude that whilst carrying out this investigation I found out that the more acid was in the
solution the cross on the paper disappeared quicker. This shows that the more concentrated the acid
is then the quicker the reaction time. My research about the collision theory was correct and the
more concentrated the solution is then the number of collisions will be increased. If the numbers of
collisions are increased then the reaction time will also be increased.
My prediction that the less concentrated the acid is then the longer it will take for the sodium
thiosulphate to react with the acid is correct because experiment number 5

Legal Positivism Vs. Law Of Nature
Legal Positivism v. the Law of Nature
Legal philosophy has changed dramatically throughout the years; many theories have evolved
and are still supported to this day. Concepts such as values, morality, desires, and reason all come
into play when law is defined. Law is a very difficult word to define; what exactly is it and where
does it come from? To understand the idea of law, one must also understand how humans have
evolved. From the beginning, humans have been forming groups for survival; either they were
frightened by animals or other tribes. As time went on, according to Thomas Hobbes, a
government was created to protect humans from their own evil actions. Since humans, according
to historic events, have always been brutal it would make sense a governing body was created to
put an end to these acts of violent. The question, in reality, is whether the government put an end to
violent acts based on ethical reasoning or was it created to promote survival within a larger
society. This question brings forth the two legal theories of the Law of Nature and Legal Positivism
which both will be discussed later on. Nevertheless, the sense of morality and a divine power was
prominent in the past, there has been a change in the present time. We now have a government
which creates laws based on current desires and enforce these laws without morality in mind.
Morals have dictated the behaviors of different societies throughout time; the idea of morality has
been tied alongside a

Compartmentalization In Eukaryotic Cells Essay
1.Explain the advantages of compartmentalization in eukaryotic cells.
Compartmentalization provides advantages in Eukaryotic cells because it provides the optimal
environment for different metabolic functions. So many metabolic functions can happen inside one
cell.
2.Explain how the nucleus controls protein synthesis in the cytoplasm.
The nucleus creates mRNA and the mRNA goes through the nuclear pores into the cytoplasm. The
mRNA is transcribed the from the DNA. Once the mRNA enters the cytoplasm it is translated by
ribosomes, than the corresponding amino acids come and form proteins.

each component.
Nuclear Envelope, is composed of two main layers and has many channels. It surrounds the nucleus.
Endoplasmic Reticulum, is a tubular network fused to nuclear membrane that goes through the

The Trade Of The Atlantic Slave Trade
Peter Banyai
Historiographical Paper
Professor Hoag
12.2.2014
The Atlantic Slave Trade took place from the 16th century to the 19th century. Most of the slaves
were taken from West Africa, but the trade also affected other parts of the continent. By the end of
the trade, it became the biggest human migration to date. Generally, we know a lot about the effects
slavery had in the New World, but we have less information on how the slave trade affected
African societies. Although there were no scholars which contested the harm the slave trade
caused, however, there is still debate over the effect of the trade within African societies. The
debate over the impact on demography and economy still exist today. However, in this paper it is
argued, mainly due to the growing contributions from African scholars and economists, that today
historians are reaching a consensus that the slave trade caused long term effects on the
demography, social structure and economy of African societies. In this paper, I will focus on how
the trade impacted African communities in regards to demography, social structure, and economy,
and I will demonstrate how the historiography in regards to these aspects has evolved to its present
form.
Demographic of the Slave Trade
Before historians could really understand the impact of the trans Atlantic they had to have a
synthetized study on the demography of the trade concerning several questions; 1) how many
slaves were there? 2) Where they came from? 3) And to

race, and social criticism. From two perspectives the story is narrated by Bob and Linda the

various perspectives King establishes a juxtaposition and parallel shift in society, while
incorporating satire and irony to expose, express and criticize what society called the Sixties

Essay on A Fallen Angel
A Fallen Angel Gabriel Garcia Marquez wrote A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings. I t was
translated from Spanish to English by Gregory Rabassa. It is the story of an elderly angel found
by a family in their courtyard. It had rained for three days and crabs were coming into Pelayo s
house. His baby became ill and he thought the illness was caused by the stench of the crabs. On
returning home from throwing the crabs into the ocean, Pelayo encounters an old man with large
battered wings lying face down in the mud. Frightened, he hurriedly beckons his wife to see his
discovery. After their neighbor sees the winged man she assures them that this is an angel. She

He tolerated the onlookers except at one point when they burned him with a branding iron. He
jumped up in pain and yelled out in an unintelligible dialect. Pelayo and his family profit well
from the angel, until a spider woman becomes the new central attraction. The angel could rest in
the chicken coop, as he was no longer a sideshow spectacle. Pelayo had a great deal of money
from his endeavor and built a large mansion. The only thing he did not rebuild was the chicken
coop. After a time, the fear faded and the chicken coop door was left open. The child was
allowed to play with him. They got chicken pox at the same time. After the chicken coop was
destroyed by wear, the angel wandered about the house. Eventually the angel became frail and
very ill he walked into posts, his wings were bare and finally collapsed into feverish fits. After
the fevers past, he began to change. His feathers grew back and his health returned. Elisenda
watched from the window as he clumsily took his first flight, eventually he gained control of his
wings and soared into the distance and out of sight. The main characters of this story are the
angel, Pelayo, his wife Elisenda and their child. The angel is a wretchedly sad character. He is
old, worn and has no verbal means of communication. Pelayo and his wife are selfish and are in
total control of the angel. Later in the story they appear sympathetic however, it is more lack of

Essay on Phonics vs. Whole Language
Phonics vs. Whole Language
What is the best method for teaching children to read? This is probably not something that a lot of
people think about on a regular basis. However, I think it is very important to discuss the ways in
which children learn to read. Reading has become a very important element in our society. With the
rapid advancement of America, having good reading skills is essential to getting ahead in jobs and
even in making dinner. Children are the future doctors, lawyers, and presidents of our country and I,
as a future teacher, wouldn t want to send children out into the world with poor reading skills. I
also think it is important to discuss reading methods because I see, after doing an interview with a

When I decided to use reading as my research topic, I thought I could take on the whole concept of
reading, but I soon learned that reading is a complex subject that has many methods. According to
the International Reading Association, A reading method is a set of teaching and learning materials
and / or activities often given a label, such as phonics method, literature based method, or language
experience method ( Using Multiple Methods ).
This definition shows that many practices for reading can be called reading method. From the
aforementioned reading methods definition and from doing a small amount of research, I decided
I would narrow the focus of my research paper to the reading methods of whole language and
phonics. I chose to focus on the concepts of whole language and phonics because for many years
they have been among the most popular reading methods and because of the ongoing debate
surrounding which method is better than the other a debate which has caused a constant push pull
trend in these methods. For a while it will pull towards whole language, but then the trend switches
to focus on phonics (the current trend). After more research on the concepts of whole language and
phonics, I came to believe that this debate between methods the debate between whole language
and phonics is an artificial dilemma, and isn t really about one method or the other when both
methods could be combined.

Quantie s weak body shuddered from a blast of cold wind. Still, the proud wife of the Cherokee

this was the place where death awaits. He could not help but fear that this place of death was

Many Americans saw this act as the government sanctioning of brutality and inhuman treatment of
the Indian people and actively protested its passing.
President Jackson thought of the Indians as children who needed his guidance and justified their
removal as a way of protecting the Indians from the hatred and harassment of the white Americans
and as a measure that would allow them to govern themselves in a new land. A passage from the
Removal Act reads as follows, no state could achieve proper culture, civilization, and progress, as
long as Indians remained within its boundaries . This statement gives a more accurate description of
how the American Congress and the President thought of all Indians in America and the Removal
Act gave them the justification to further American expansion into Indian tribal lands.
By the late 1830s, more than 40 treaties were signed by what was then called the Five Civilized
Tribes, which consisted of the Cherokee, Choctaws, Chickasaws, Creeks, and Seminoles. Many of
these tribes exchanged over 40,000 miles of land in seven states. Three quarters of Alabama and
Florida, as well as parts of Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi, Kentucky and North Carolina became
property of the United States after they were traded for lands west of the Mississippi river, which
is now Northern Oklahoma. These treaties were signed by the Five Tribes in hopes that the
American government would allow them to retain some of their indigenous lands,

Export of Towel from Pakistan
INTRODUCTION
The export of towel from Pakistan to other countries is not generating much revenue but it has
some importance as Pakistan ranks with India and China among the world s leading towel
manufacturers. The towel export business is specially a good one for Karachi based producers,
bringing Pakistan $300 million each year from sales to the United States alone. It is also good for
urban Pakistanis seeking factory work According to the Towel Manufacturers Association of

Unlike Jane and Bertha however, Sula is able to be a whole person and represent both the good and
bad qualities of an independent woman. She too is a representation of an independent and
impassioned female, rebelling against the social constraints posed upon women, and pushes the
threshold of its definitions of womanhood. This is seen throughout the novel as she explores her
own thoughts and emotions, giving them full reign over her actions and behavior. Her defiant
refusal to be bullied, the exploration of her strength through sexuality, her refusal to settle into the
domestic feminine model, and her decision to leave the Bottom and go to college, make Sula a
remarkably strong and intimidating woman for her time. Like Bertha, Sula s displays of the overt
rejection of societal ideals mark her as something supernatural and evil. Compared to a sorceress

strange dream that turns into reality when her mother burns alive, and the plague of robins that
follow her return to the Bottom (Morrison, 89). From this, the townspeople find any incident in

The Russian Revolution Of 1917
The Russian Revolution of 1917 brought with it the fall of 300 years of Romanov rule and
marked the beginning of the transition of Tsarism to Communism, from which Lenin established
the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, succeeded by Stalin. The Revolution is worthy of
investigation as it is arguably the most significant event of the 20th century, considering that it
helped shape many other subsequent events such as the Second World War and the Cold War.
The Bolsheviks triumph can be accounted to two reasons: the first being the weaknesses of
autocracy leading to the fall of Tsarism; the second the relative strengths of the Bolsheviks
compared to the downfalls of the Provisional Government, leading to the Bolshevik takeover.
There were many reasons for the fall of Tsarism, such as the backwardness of Russian society, the
failure of the Tsar personally, and the autocratic system of government which caused grievances
amongst the people. The Russian public desired political change, whether towards a more
democratic society like 20th century Britain, or towards a more socialist revolution in which
power was returned to the people. When assessing the reasons as to why Tsarism collapsed, it is
crucial to look at the setting of early 19th century Russia, which inevitably led to the Tsar s
weaknesses in his control of the government.
Russia at this time was a backwards and provincial society: encompassing a vast expanse of
territory, the towns were underdeveloped and the

The Pros And Cons Of Homeless People
Many homeless people have various problems which include money, domestic violence or mental
illness and it is not easy for them to change their lifestyle and find a job. Do you know how many
homeless people are living in Toronto? According to the homeless hub, they estimated put the
number of homeless in the city at about 5,219 in 2013 ( Popluation , 2013). Homeless need help
getting off the streets but are not able to do it by themselves. People should not just give the
homeless poor treatment and keep on walking by like nothing is wrong. In order to reduce the
homeless problem, we should help them efficiently to solve this problem which can allow the
government to help them in many ways.
According to National Coalition for the Homeless, Homeless and poverty are inextricably linked (
Why , July 2009). People who are poor are not able to consistently pay for necessities such as
housing, food, health care, and education. If they can pay for those things, they won t be homeless.
Many homeless people work for minimum wage and they just can not earn enough money to afford
housing. According to Retail Council of Canada,
Ontario minimum wage is $11.40 per hour ( Minimum , March 2017). However, the housing price
is still expensive in Toronto. Even though the homeless works hard, they can not afford to pay for
housing and other necessities. So, homeless people give up work and the vicious circle of poverty
keeps repeating itself.

present a loss of self. These stories prove that there is a fine line between finding one s self and
losing one s self. I believe this loss can occur at any age or station of life. This idea is seen in each
story s main character.
Hemingway s Soldier s Home depicts a young man in his early twenties after his return from World

Hemingway, Cather exposes the influence of a stable but cold environment to be detrimental to
one s well being. Paul s dilemma begins with school, a place he is not fond of. His teachers have
a strong disliking of Paul. This is seen at his readmittance inquiry ... they fell upon him without
mercy, his English teacher leading the pack (161). Paul s inner struggle is recognized by only
one teacher, the drawing master. The drawing master had come to realize that, in looking at
Paul, one saw only his white teeth and forced animation of his eyes (162). He also noted the time
Paul had fallen asleep in class, what a white, blue veined face it was; drawn and wrinkled like an

Paul s true desire is seen in the theater when he sits to watch the symphony: the first sigh of the

Comparing Emerson And Ralph Waldo Emerson
Ralph Waldo Emerson says There is a time in every man s education when he arrives at the
conviction that envy is ignorance; that imitation is suicide. This quote is immensely true you
should always be true to yourself and you shouldn t envy people you don t really know that
much about. You should stay true to yourself because if you want to imitate someone who are
killing yourself figuratively. How is your inner self alive if you don t display it no one knows
who you really are so your soul is dead to others. They would just see that you are like everyone
else or like someone else in particular and then you will be compared to the other person which
isn t what people usually want. If someone were to compare you to someone and you are just off
there in the corner hearing this and they are saying blah blah he s/she s exactly like so and so
and you are just like no I m me , but you have no proof because what they are saying is true. Your
inner self would never be known to people if you like to hide away and just do what it is popular
they we ll see you as just no one special and everyone wants to have something different about
them that s what makes people awesome there is not two of the same exact people, so why would
you want to strive to be exactly like another person.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Gerald Ford Address To Nixon Rhetorical Analysis
In 1974, President Richard Nixon announced his resignation. In response to this Vice President
Gerald Ford spoke of his opinion on the situation. Nixon s letter of resignation is a direct effect of
the Watergate scandal, The purpose of these speeches is to make Ford look more trustworthy. After
the Watergate scandal, Nixon was not trusted by the people and congress. In his speech Nixon
announced, it has become evident to me that I no longer have a strong enough political base in the
Congress to justify continuing that effort (Passage 1 Paragraph 2). This describes Congress not
trusting Nixon, because Nixon does not have a strong political base with them. Nixon is sure that,
because of the of the Watergate matter , he won t have the needed support from Congress (Passage
1 Paragraph 5). This describes how the Watergate incident made Nixon untrustworthy, because
Nixon strongly believes the Congress will not support him after the scandal.... Show more content

Ford knows, it is common knowledge that serious allegations and accusations hang like a sword
over our former President s head... (Passage 2 Paragraph 15). This illustrates that Ford is aware
of the fact that Nixon is no longer trusted and believes that Nixon has to resign for the betterment
of the United States. What to do about Nixon is heavily disputed and Ford believes that, only I
can do that, and if I can, I must (Passage 2 Paragraph 14). This shows that Ford knows the situation
will get out of hand and he must get involved and make his executive decision and trust that the

International Crime And Jurisdiction In The United States
Jurisdiction is the most prominent issue for enforcement officers to deal with international crimes
stemming from the deep web. There are illegal markets for gambling, weapons, explosives,
assassinations, exotic animals, terrorism and hacktivism all of which can be accessed by anyone in
the world if they knew the right ways to get in. The darknet has an international customer base, and
cases can get even more complicated when criminals from different countries start to work together.
Questions of which country s law should be followed and what punishment should be given arise,
and not all parties involved end up satisfied. While it is impossible to please everyone with a trial
and punishment, having an international court disfuses any issue concerning jurisdiction in order
to deal with the criminal.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One could argue that the International Criminal Court already exists, and there is no need for
another one. However, the International Criminal Court follows The Rome Statute for jurisdiction
which only allows action to be taken for crimes of genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes,
and crimes of aggression. Though there are some crimes committed through the darknet that can
fall under this, such as terrorism, the majority of them do not. This does not mean these crimes are

Every museum has an object that has a story to tell to the visitors. Collecting institutions will often
spend more time, energy, and money caring for the objects that visitors do not see than the
institutions spend on the public exhibits. (Moses, 1) These objects, whether displayed in exhibits
or in storage hidden from the public view, are instilled with meaning, as the objects tell us who we
are as individuals and as a society and connect us with our past. (Moses, 2) However, while
collecting institutions, whether big or small, can present and collect objects that resemble and

Nancy Moses main argument is that each collecting institution must continually struggle to remain
relevant to the local community. In the first chapter, Nancy Moses discusses the Audubon birds at
the Academy of Natural Science in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She describes the Academy s
struggles, which centers around its appearance to the public as a natural science museum, when it is
actually a research center with a museum attached to the center. The museum includes dated
exhibits that show considerable neglect. (Moses, 21) The Academy was able to safely store the
Audubon birds and other objects, but the Academy was unable to successfully maintain and
preserve the objects financially. This led to the Academy s second problem. The Academy had
chronic and escalating problems with money because none of the three divisions within the
Academy generated enough money to support their work. (Moses, 22) To combat the financial
problem, the Academy s board voted to sell more than 15,000 of their minerals and gems that had
never been previously displayed, and use the proceeds to support their library. (Moses, 22) The
Academy wanted to continue to remain a research center and believed that by selling their objects,
they were meeting the needs and wants of the

Relationship Between Psychological Empowerment And Job...
ew This study examines the relationship between psychological empowerment and job satisfaction
among Saudi women working in private enterprises. Specifically, this research attempts to examine
the relationship between the psychological dimensions of empowerment (i.e., meaning,
competence, impact, and self determination) and overall level of job satisfaction among the
participants. The following section includes some of the literature studies relevant to the
relationship between psychological empowerment and job satisfaction. Several studies have shown
that psychological empowerment has an effect on job satisfaction in a positive way. However, the
results of such an effect varies when dealing with the relationship between each individual
dimension of psychological empowerment (i.e. meaning, competence, impact, and self
determination) and job satisfaction. For example, Spreitzer, Kizilos and Nason (1997) found a
positive relationship between the meaning cognition of psychological empowerment and job
satisfaction among a primary sample of lower level employees working in the insurance sector and
a secondary sample of mid level employees working in industrial sector. It was evident in this study
that competence (secondary sample) and self determination (primary sample) cognitions were less
related to job satisfaction than the meaning dimension (in both samples). Surprisingly, the impact
cognition had no effect on job satisfaction in either samples. Similar results were found

Mozart And Beethoven
Mozart and Beethoven are two of the most famous composers all over the world. Even after their
death, their music is still studied and enjoyed. They had various styles of composing music and
performing. Mozart and Beethoven were born with talents of musical abilities and displayed them
early in their lives. By the age of five, Mozart managed to play on both the pianoand violin very
well. When Beethoven was born, Mozart was already a well known and respected composer. His
father forced him to practice the piano for hours a day hoping that he would be like Mozart.
Mozart is well known for composing operatic, symphonic, and choral music. He composed more
than 600 pieces of music; many of them are still recognizable today. His musical style ... Show more

wrote music that can be played by those with less technical skills. Beethoven s works were
influenced by Mozart s pieces, but his style was very different from Mozart s because he was a
moody and lonely man. He created his music with no one in mind, and the sound of his music is

Theme Of The Rose That Grew From Concrete
Imagine you were attempting to succeed overcome challenges in your life. In the two text The
Rose that Grew from Concrete and Mother to Son. It explains how life can be hard for anyone.
The poem The Rose that Grew from Concrete is about how life is not easy and the poem Mother
to Son is about how life is not easy for everyone. Both poems share the theme of there is no easy
way in life, but they way the authors developed the theme was similar and different.
First, the poem The Rose that Grew from concrete uses Figurative Language and Symbols to
develop the theme of there is no easy way in life. First, the author uses Figurative Language to
develop the theme by showing us that the Rose can walk without having feet. It says, it learned
to walk without having feet. The author uses Figurative Language to develop the theme of there
is no easy way in life because the author is giving the rose human like features, like walking. This
shows the theme because the author described that the rose was walking without having feet.
Second of all, the author uses characterization to develop the theme by showing us that the
mother is telling her son to persevere through life because it is not easy. She is also telling him
that her life is not easy. It says in the text And boards torn up, And places with no carpet on the
floor. This proves which somehow she needed to step over to arrive where she stands now. This
shows the author used Symbols to develop the theme of there is no easy way in life because the
rose symbolises hope and to never give up on your dreams. This is important to notice because the
rose represents his dreams. To sum up, the author revealed the theme through Figurative Language
and Symbolism which develops the theme there is no easy way in life.
The Poem Mother to Son uses Figurative Language and Characterization this develops the theme
of there is no easy way in life. To begin, the author uses Figurative Language to develop the theme
by showing us that the stairs represent the mother s life. It says Life for me ain t been no crystal stair
.Life for me ain t been no crystal stair. This means her her life has not been easy that is what the
stair stands for. The author uses figurative

Application Of The Nursing Staff At Dwu Virtual Hospital
In the nursing field change is a daily reality. The continuing improvements in health care mean
that there are continually changing ways to provide health care. Anyone who has been in the
nursing field for any amount of time is sure to have uttered the words Do you remember when we
used to...? From a nursing point of view not all change is positive, and not all change is
welcomed. Every change is however aimed at providing the best care and achieving the best
possible outcome for the patient. This project will outline the process that will be used to introduce
the nursing staff here at DWU Virtual Hospital to the change of implementing electronic medical
records.

This plan will begin with smaller unit meetings led by the unit manager. Next, training sessions in
virtual patient records will be led first by managers and then by peers. In the third and final stage
the EMR will be implemented and all staff will be responsible for ensuring the proper use of the
EMR.
Change Plan Design To initiate the plan we will begin with the first stage of Lewins Theory,
unfreezing. The unfreezing process is the process of creating a time frame for staff to become
ready for the change (Huber, 2014). Management will need to inform staff of the upcoming
change. This should be done in a small unit meeting with only the nurses and unit manager
present. Keeping the meeting small will help prevent any feelings of being intimidated and will go
along with the shared governance system recently instituted. In this meeting the manger will
present researched facts regarding EMR implementations. Among these facts would be the fact
that having an EMR will save time. Nursing staff will have access to all previous records and will
no longer need to wait for other departments to obtain these records (Gagnon et al. 2010). Also
having an EMR system encourages teamwork between the healthcare and support personnel in a
facility (Gagnon et al. 2010). For example, nursing will be able to look at the radiology and lab
schedule and coordinate with them on times for patient testing. During this meeting

It is my recommendation that Shuzworld change their facilities layout to create a better workflow.
You can accomplish this by breaking the current structure and reorganizing the workstations to
accomplish tasks in a more time efficient manner and maximizing an employees time spent on the
product. Utilizing the Case Study we can surmise that each eight hour shift must produce forty
eight work boots. 8 hours times 60 minutes equals 480 minutes. 480 minutes (The Work Shift)

assumption that as people continue to perform a task that will become more proficient at it and
will become more efficient as well. The coefficient approach of analyzing this learning curve
seemed to be the best option in this scenario. You can use a simple formula to calculate the hours
needed for each grouping my multiplying the required time of the first grouping by the coefficient
of the grouping you are trying to discover. This tool provided the most simple means to discover
the required hours of each grouping.

Salton Sea Research Paper
From being a resort area filled with numerous yachts, the Salton Sea has become an abandoned
destination since the late 20th century. The Salton Sea was created by accident; with an
exponential increase in precipitation, water diverted from the Colorado River to Imperial Valley
creating the Salton Sea. Through its early years, the Salton Sea was a tourist attraction. It was an
inland sea, allowing the public to ride boats and fish. Soon after, the Imperial Valley needed a
drainage lake, and the federal government permitted the Salton Sea to be utilized for this specific
purpose. Salton Sea became a lake where residues from fertilizers as well as pesticides such as
DDT fertilizers and hazardous chemicals were dumped into without any regulation.

Examples Of Literature In Boys And Girls
An Awakening One awakening stage in a person s life is the stage between being a child and
being an adult. When an author writes about this stage it can be referred to as coming of age
literature: literature that follows the life of a person as he or she shifts from adolescence to
young adulthood and discovers who he or she is while seeing the world around him or her
differently. These coming of age narratives look back at the time of a youth when he or she is
influenced by his or her family, mentors, friends, peers, relationships, and community, all of which
help shape the youth into the person they will one day become. And, coming of age literature are
narratives which contain similar characteristics; such as, innocence of the world s expectations,
life that seems simple as a child but more complex the older one becomes, the disappointment of
discovering life is not as black and white as one has perceived, tension between family members or
peers, conflicts within oneself as understanding of the world changes, wisdom as one ages, and
acceptance and realization that the adult world is complex and difficult. In the short storyBoys and
Girls, Alice Munro successfully explores the protagonistinnocence of the world s stereotypes,
conflict between who she... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Bismarck s Influence On The German Empire Essay
Section 2. Investigation
Bismarck, to many historians, was known for his ability to manipulate the Prussian government,
and alliances with other nations to achieve his goal to create the German Empire with the Prussian
Kaiser as its leader. Through his idea of Realpolitik, to do whatever deemed necessary to reach a
goal, Bismarck manipulated the different parts of the Prussian government and the Foreign policy
to unite the German States under the leadership of Prussia s Kaiser. The problem with Bismarck
using Realpolitik is that he could have used illegal methods or methods that exceeded his authority
as Prime Minister. Bismarck used methods that exceeded his given authority as Prime Minister,
from 1862 1871, to a small extent. The Kaiser had given Bismarck power that exceeded that
normally given to a Prime Minister, but through the expansion of powers of Prime Minister before
he entered office, many of Bismarck s actions were found to be within his authority.
Bismarck followed his policy of Realpolitik to no ends, willing to exceed his given authority as
Prime Minister. One of the illegal actions that Bismarck executed was for the Prussian military
budget. When Bismarck first gained the title of Prime Minister, his first task was to pass the
military budget that the Kaiser requested in the 1862 budget. The Reichstag had power over
making decisions over foreign, and federal policies, laws, and the military itself. The Parliament,
although not given the sole power for

Essay On Seasonal Affective Disorder
Seasonal Affective Disorder
Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) is a form of depression. It is when you feel sad, down, or blue
at specific times of the year. The most common time of year for this is late fall and winter. This is
when the days are shorter and most people spend less time outdoors. This is why SAD is also
known as the winter blues. SAD less commonly occurs in the spring or summer.
SAD can vary in severity and interfere with work, school, relationships, and normal daily activities.
RISK FACTORS
SAD is more common in young women, people with a history of clinical depression or bipolar
disorder, and people who live far north or south of the equator.
SYMPTOMS
Symptoms of SAD include:

DIAGNOSIS
The diagnosis of SAD is usually made through an assessment by your health care provider. You
will be asked about your moods, thoughts, and behaviors. You will also be asked about your
medical history, any major life changes, medicines, and substance use. A physical exam and lab
work may be done to make sure there is no other cause for your depression. You may be referred to
a mental health specialist for further evaluation.
TREATMENT
Possible treatment for SAD includes:
Light therapy. Light therapy involves sitting in front of a light source for 15 30 minutes every day.
It is thought to work by increasing the duration of daylight sensed by the brain.
Anti depressant medicine.
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). CBT is a form of talk therapy that identifies and changes
negative thoughts associated with SAD.
HOME CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Integrative Approach In Anthropology
Archaeology and the subdivision of bioarchaeology have played a profound role in our knowledge
and understanding of past and modern populations. Through the analyses of human skeletal
remains, the broad field of anthropology provides remarkable insights into multiple aspects of
human life. Specifically, the field of bioarchaeology has contributed to our understanding of how
environmental, cultural, and biological factors have influenced death and survival in the
archaeological record (Martin, Harrod, Perez, 2013:1). Despite its immense contributions to the
understanding of human behaviour, anthropological techniques have faced a great deal of scrutiny
when it comes to assessing health and disease from human remains. Perhaps the greatest factor...

In order to develop an in depth understanding of each of the factors that contributed to the health
and well being of an individual, bioarchaeologists collaborate with researchers from multiple
disciplines, such as biology, epidemiology, and demography to assess the context of remains
(Larsen, 2015:66). This integrative approach ultimately allows for the consideration of a wide
range of factors that may have contributed to an individual s social history (Martin et al., 2013:60).
In particular, this knowledge is used to create an osteobiography of the sociocultural and biological
factors that were experienced by the individual throughout their lifetime (Lecture: Week 8).
Through the use of this osteobiography, bioarchaeologists can gain critical insights into the social
and biological phenomena that may have contributed to the presence of skeletal indicators, such as
abnormal lesions, or stunted growth patterns that are demonstrated in many past populations
(Larsen, 2015:425). While growth or stature may be interpreted simply as a result of genetic factors,
bioarchaeologists integrate data from across several different domains in order to determine
whether stature, or height for age, is the result of biological or environmental stressors, or a
combination of both (Larsen, 2015:426). Rather than jumping to simple conclusions,
bioarchaeologists seek to develop an understanding of the broader connections between health and
contextualization in order to better understand why certain individuals are more susceptible to
disease and mortality than

Rappaccini s Daughter Comparative Essay
In the passages Ralph 124C 41+ and Rappaccini`s Daughter , the protagonists have analogous
interests and goals, while the themes match as well. Both stories are of life, death, love, and

protagonists, and also to use the themes of nature and death. Throughout the passages, Ralph 124c

According to Rappacini`s Daughter , To Beatrice so radically had her earthly part been wrought

  • 2. Tiananmen Square Protests 1989 In the year of 1989, the People s Republic of China remains under a communist regime. As the world is moving forward with new technologies and innovations empowering new beliefs, democracy is becoming the next big government. China s economy is slowly flourishing and their traditions still hang on. But with the increasing amount of western influences pouring into China through foreign trade, people are beginning to notice the wrong in communism. Citizens of China gradually learn more and more of the values and benefits of democracyand a small spark of change for a better government soon turns into a blazing inferno seen across the globe. Tiananmen has had very little effect on China in 2017, but in the years following 1989, China was in turmoil. As factions began to rise within the CCP and the thought of their lost loved ones are still fresh in people s minds, a threat of yet another movement was growing. Fueled by their fear of revolution, China s government unifies its members under a single mission, to eliminate and destroy all information on Tiananmen. A purge begins of all documents and articles of Tiananmen. Over the decades, China has hidden and censored many articles, websites, media, etc about Tiananmen from its people and has killed many who dared to talk of the June Fourth Incident and anything else the CCP sees as undesirable. For example, in 1996 Falun Gong, a popular buddhist practice that embodies the ideals of peace, balance and harmony, grew extremely popular. Falun Gong was mainly practiced through meditation and involved peaceful practices, but the CCP feared that it would grow too popular and eventually turn into a political rival. To prevent being overthrown, the CCP punished anyone who dare to practice Falun Gong within the People s Republic of China (PRC) by beating them and torturing them. The photos of the victims of this brutal persecution caused fear to spark in the country and as a result of this terror, not one person of the 1.381 billion people that inhabit Chinese soil talk about the protests or anything that the CCP dislikes as the sword of death is always hanging precariously above their ... For those caught in the middle of the war on terror in the Middle East, or unprecedented violence in Africa, the need to build relationships with the spectator in order to motivate donations is ever present. The relationship between the spectator and the suffering has significantly changed in the past few decades and NGOs and individuals seeking to motivate people to donate must find new ways to motivate this charitable action. In the post humanitarian era, relationship between the individual donating and the cause has into one that is decoupled from grand emotions and based on moral agency. Today, acts of charity are being influenced across a multitude of new technological platforms. The emergence of new technologies brought hope that they could easily disseminate information to broader audiences and bring attention to social causes and campaigns often ignored by traditional media. While social media was thought to help foster a more cosmopolitan public, it s campaigns have also exemplified the post humanitarianism concept. (Social Media) For the purpose of this essay, I analyze of the #unselfie campaign on Twitter and Instagram in support of the victims of Typhoon Haiyan which highlights many of the characteristics of post humanitarianism charitable action. Luther Standing Bear was a master at using rhetoric, because with it, he benefits not only his people, but also the human identity. Luther Standing Bear contributed all of his efforts to get the Native Americans a place in a world that was no longer theirs. Luther Standing Bear is a pioneer in what would eventually become a movement for Civil Rights. The ideas that he was using did not involve insults but rather, pointed out views that others hadn t seen or thought of before. Instead of using hatred and insults, he used his wisdom and his life experiences to express his views on the world, and why big changes had to be executed immediately. Standing Bear uses the opportune moment in the early 20th century, while civil rights was at its infancy to persuade the white man that the Indian was no different than he was. Luther Standing bear was born in 1868, on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. Luther Standing Bear s real name was Ota K te (Plenty Kill). For the first eleven years of his life, Standing Bear was taught the traditional ways of the Lakota. • 14. Minoan Culture Research Paper The origin of the Mycenaean culture has perplexed many archaeologists for more than a century. All the information gathered today from archaeologists are merely an approximation. The farther back archaeologists investigate the harder it is to decipher and validate the history of the Greek experience. However, the evidence from the Mycenaean period is crucial to the discovery and unveiling of the development of the Greek culture. Roughly, around 3000 BC on the island of Crete began the Bronze Age, where Sir Arthur Evans is accredited for the founding of the first civilization. Most commonly known as the Minoan civilization, dubbed after king Minos, was an empire in the Mediterranean. However, unlike the Mycenaeans the Minoans were not Greek. The Second Industrial Revolution was also what it was known as due to many technological advances. Industrialization substantially affected farmers and industrial workers, along with other parts of American society. Consequently, they also responded to this newly emerged situation. When the first Transcontinental Railroad was built in the year 1869, all segments of society welcomed it with enthusiasm. Farmers were very happy; they welcomed it happily and passionately because it was in their interest. Transporting their agricultural products from one place to another was going to be easier for them. Although some farmers were fruitful such as bonanza farms, many farmers were struggling (Tindall, 621). They resented high railroad tariffs that were often considered remarkably high which made it complicated for them because they had to sell their cotton on markets while manufactured goods made in the United States had tariffs. I chose the painting, Slave Ship by Joseph Turner, due to the chaos I see in the painting. Not only is the event being portrayed very chaotic, but the painting itself is full of turmoil as well. The painting has vigorous brush strokes and the colors seem to melt together in areas, leaving the sky and the sea hard to distinguish in the middle portion of the painting. The artist also uses bright and dark colors, allowing the creation of pandemonium that I feel when I see this work. You can see the beginning of a storm on the left of the painting along with a boat heading into the rougher waters caused by the weather, resulting in the bow to be propelled upward. The bottom portion of the painting is topsy turvy as well, showing shackled hands and chains raised from the turbulent seas. With close inspection, you can see fish within the thrashing waves on the bottom left portion of the painting. There are fish seen swarming a shackled hand in the bottom right portion of the work as well. One could possibly argue that the fish are sea monsters. • 20. The History Of Data Encryption Technology Essay This paper discusses the history of data encryption technology. It also touches on several aspects of data encryption technology. Furthermore, an attempt will be made to answer several key questions like what is data encryption technology (DET). It will also detail some of the history of DET, how DET affects the lives of people in America, and some of the future implications of this technology. DET can be defined as the translation or changing of information/data into some form of a secret code through a process of encryption (Merriam Webster Dictionary, 2016). This process of encryption is key to DET because it requires the writers and readers of such encrypted information to be able to decode that data using a secret key, or some sort of password, or algorithm to decrypt the originally encrypted code (Sans Institute, page 4, 2001). Believe it or not, there is a long history behind data encryption technology (Sans Institute, page 4, 2001). As a matter of fact, the history of DET goes way back in time (Pfleeger, page 3, 2002). For example, around 900 BC, an Egyptian scribe used non standard hieroglyphs in an inscription. (Sans Institutue, page 6, 2001). Since those ancient times until now, there have been great advancements in DET, and its applications. Hundreds of years later, Assyrian merchants in the 1500 BC time frame were using pieces of a flat stone with carved inscriptions on them called intaglio in trading transactions (Sans Institutue, page 8, ... Law Of Nature Legal Positivism v. the Law of Nature Legal philosophy has changed dramatically throughout the years; many theories have evolved and are still supported to this day. Concepts such as values, morality, desires, and reason all come into play when law is defined. Law is a very difficult word to define; what exactly is it and where does it come from? To understand the idea of law, one must also understand how humans have evolved. From the beginning, humans have been forming groups for survival; either they were frightened by animals or other tribes. As time went on, according to Thomas Hobbes, a government was created to protect humans from their own evil actions. Since humans, according to historic events, have always been brutal it would make sense a governing body was created to put an end to these acts of violent. The question, in reality, is whether the government put an end to violent acts based on ethical reasoning or was it created to promote survival within a larger society. This question brings forth the two legal theories of the Law of Nature and Legal Positivism which both will be discussed later on. Nevertheless, the sense of morality and a divine power was prominent in the past, there has been a change in the present time. Generally, we know a lot about the effects slavery had in the New World, but we have less information on how the slave trade affected African societies. Although there were no scholars which contested the harm the slave trade caused, however, there is still debate over the effect of the trade within African societies. The debate over the impact on demography and economy still exist today. However, in this paper it is argued, mainly due to the growing contributions from African scholars and economists, that today historians are reaching a consensus that the slave trade caused long term effects on the demography, social structure and economy of African societies. When I decided to use reading as my research topic, I thought I could take on the whole concept of reading, but I soon learned that reading is a complex subject that has many methods. According to the International Reading Association, A reading method is a set of teaching and learning materials and / or activities often given a label, such as phonics method, literature based method, or language experience method ( Using Multiple Methods ). This definition shows that many practices for reading can be called reading method. From the aforementioned reading methods definition and from doing a small amount of research, I decided I would narrow the focus of my research paper to the reading methods of whole language and phonics. I chose to focus on the concepts of whole language and phonics because for many years they have been among the most popular reading methods and because of the ongoing debate surrounding which method is better than the other a debate which has caused a constant push pull trend in these methods. For a while it will pull towards whole language, but then the trend switches to focus on phonics (the current trend). After more research on the concepts of whole language and phonics, I came to believe that this debate between methods the debate between whole language and phonics is an artificial dilemma, and isn t really about one method or the other when both methods could be combined. ... Still, the proud wife of the Cherokee chief John Ross wrapped a woolen blanket around her shoulders and grabbed the reins. Leading the final group of Cherokee Indians from their home lands, Chief John Ross thought of an old story that was told by the chiefs before him, of a place where the earth and sky met in the west, this was the place where death awaits. He could not help but fear that this place of death was where his beloved people were being taken after years of persecution and injustice at the hands of white Americans, the proud Indian people were being forced to vacate their lands, leaving behind their homes, businesses and almost everything they owned while traveling to... President Jackson thought of the Indians as children who needed his guidance and justified their removal as a way of protecting the Indians from the hatred and harassment of the white Americans and as a measure that would allow them to govern themselves in a new land. A passage from the Removal Act reads as follows, no state could achieve proper culture, civilization, and progress, as long as Indians remained within its boundaries . This statement gives a more accurate description of how the American Congress and the President thought of all Indians in America and the Removal Act gave them the justification to further American expansion into Indian tribal lands. By the late 1830s, more than 40 treaties were signed by what was then called the Five Civilized Tribes, which consisted of the Cherokee, Choctaws, Chickasaws, Creeks, and Seminoles. Many of these tribes exchanged over 40,000 miles of land in seven states. Three quarters of Alabama and Florida, as well as parts of Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi, Kentucky and North Carolina became property of the United States after they were traded for lands west of the Mississippi river, which is now Northern Oklahoma. Just like Sula, her fierce nature is exposed through her identification with the wild, unruliness, and ultimately with sex. • 38. The Russian Revolution Of 1917 The Russian Revolution of 1917 brought with it the fall of 300 years of Romanov rule and marked the beginning of the transition of Tsarism to Communism, from which Lenin established the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, succeeded by Stalin. The Revolution is worthy of investigation as it is arguably the most significant event of the 20th century, considering that it helped shape many other subsequent events such as the Second World War and the Cold War. The Bolsheviks triumph can be accounted to two reasons: the first being the weaknesses of autocracy leading to the fall of Tsarism; the second the relative strengths of the Bolsheviks compared to the downfalls of the Provisional Government, leading to the Bolshevik takeover. There were many reasons for the fall of Tsarism, such as the backwardness of Russian society, the failure of the Tsar personally, and the autocratic system of government which caused grievances amongst the people. The Russian public desired political change, whether towards a more democratic society like 20th century Britain, or towards a more socialist revolution in which power was returned to the people. When assessing the reasons as to why Tsarism collapsed, it is crucial to look at the setting of early 19th century Russia, which inevitably led to the Tsar s weaknesses in his control of the government. Do you know how many homeless people are living in Toronto? According to the homeless hub, they estimated put the number of homeless in the city at about 5,219 in 2013 ( Popluation , 2013). Homeless need help getting off the streets but are not able to do it by themselves. People should not just give the homeless poor treatment and keep on walking by like nothing is wrong. In order to reduce the homeless problem, we should help them efficiently to solve this problem which can allow the government to help them in many ways. According to National Coalition for the Homeless, Homeless and poverty are inextricably linked ( Why , July 2009). People who are poor are not able to consistently pay for necessities such as housing, food, health care, and education. If they can pay for those things, they won t be homeless. His teachers have a strong disliking of Paul. This is seen at his readmittance inquiry ... they fell upon him without mercy, his English teacher leading the pack (161). Paul s inner struggle is recognized by only one teacher, the drawing master. Both poems share the theme of there is no easy way in life, but they way the authors developed the theme was similar and different. First, the poem The Rose that Grew from concrete uses Figurative Language and Symbols to develop the theme of there is no easy way in life. First, the author uses Figurative Language to develop the theme by showing us that the Rose can walk without having feet. It says, it learned to walk without having feet. The author uses Figurative Language to develop the theme of there is no easy way in life because the author is giving the rose human like features, like walking. This shows the theme because the author described that the rose was walking without having feet. Second of all, the author uses characterization to develop the theme by showing us that the mother is telling her son to persevere through life because it is not easy. She is also telling him that her life is not easy. It says in the text And boards torn up, And places with no carpet on the floor. This proves which somehow she needed to step over to arrive where she stands now. Through his idea of Realpolitik, to do whatever deemed necessary to reach a goal, Bismarck manipulated the different parts of the Prussian government and the Foreign policy to unite the German States under the leadership of Prussia s Kaiser. The problem with Bismarck using Realpolitik is that he could have used illegal methods or methods that exceeded his authority as Prime Minister. Bismarck used methods that exceeded his given authority as Prime Minister, from 1862 1871, to a small extent. The Kaiser had given Bismarck power that exceeded that normally given to a Prime Minister, but through the expansion of powers of Prime Minister before he entered office, many of Bismarck s actions were found to be within his authority. Bismarck followed his policy of Realpolitik to no ends, willing to exceed his given authority as Prime Minister. One of the illegal actions that Bismarck executed was for the Prussian military budget. When Bismarck first gained the title of Prime Minister, his first task was to pass the military budget that the Kaiser requested in the 1862 budget. The Reichstag had power over making decisions over foreign, and federal policies, laws, and the military itself. The Parliament, although not given the sole power for ... • 53. Energy Drinks Benefits In the article, the author claims that there is little to no evidence that energy drinks have any benefits. I think the author successfully supports his claim. Energy drinks have little scientific support, rely on caffeine, and have the same effects as coffee and NoDoz. There have been very few studies on energy drinks or their ingredients. Dr. Craig A. Goodman, could not find any trials in humans of the additive, glucuronolactone, That is used in energy drinks. Dr. Goodman stated I have no idea what it does in energy drinks. Taisho executives used Lipovitan D in their products, but acknowledged they had not run a single clinical study involving Lipovitan D. There are no studies proving that energy drinks have any extra benefits. Studies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Essay On Seasonal Affective Disorder Seasonal Affective Disorder Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) is a form of depression. It is when you feel sad, down, or blue at specific times of the year. The most common time of year for this is late fall and winter. A physical exam and lab work may be done to make sure there is no other cause for your depression. You may be referred to a mental health specialist for further evaluation. TREATMENT Possible treatment for SAD includes: Light therapy. Light therapy involves sitting in front of a light source for 15 30 minutes every day. It is thought to work by increasing the duration of daylight sensed by the brain. Anti depressant medicine. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). CBT is a form of talk therapy that identifies and changes negative thoughts associated with SAD. HOME CARE INSTRUCTIONS Take medicines only as directed by your healthcare provider. This is important. Check with your health care provider before starting any new prescriptions, over the counter medicines, herbs, or supplements. Keep all follow up visits as directed by your health care provider. • 55. Integrative Approach In Anthropology Archaeology and the subdivision of bioarchaeology have played a profound role in our knowledge and understanding of past and modern populations. Through the analyses of human skeletal remains, the broad field of anthropology provides remarkable insights into multiple aspects of human life. Specifically, the field of bioarchaeology has contributed to our understanding of how environmental, cultural, and biological factors have influenced death and survival in the archaeological record (Martin, Harrod, Perez, 2013:1). Despite its immense contributions to the understanding of human behaviour, anthropological techniques have faced a great deal of scrutiny when it comes to assessing health and disease from human remains. Perhaps the greatest factor... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to develop an in depth understanding of each of the factors that contributed to the health and well being of an individual, bioarchaeologists collaborate with researchers from multiple disciplines, such as biology, epidemiology, and demography to assess the context of remains (Larsen, 2015:66). This integrative approach ultimately allows for the consideration of a wide range of factors that may have contributed to an individual s social history (Martin et al., 2013:60). In particular, this knowledge is used to create an osteobiography of the sociocultural and biological factors that were experienced by the individual throughout their lifetime (Lecture: Week 8). Through the use of this osteobiography, bioarchaeologists can gain critical insights into the social and biological phenomena that may have contributed to the presence of skeletal indicators, such as abnormal lesions, or stunted growth patterns that are demonstrated in many past populations (Larsen, 2015:425). While growth or stature may be interpreted simply as a result of genetic factors, bioarchaeologists integrate data from across several different domains in order to determine whether stature, or height for age, is the result of biological or environmental stressors, or a combination of both (Larsen, 2015:426). Rather than jumping to simple conclusions, bioarchaeologists seek to develop an understanding of the broader connections between health and contextualization in order to better understand why certain individuals are more susceptible to disease and mortality than ... • 56. Rappaccini s Daughter Comparative Essay In the passages Ralph 124C 41+ and Rappaccini`s Daughter , the protagonists have analogous interests and goals, while the themes match as well. Both stories are of life, death, love, and nature. In the two passages, the authors use love, specifically to create motives for the protagonists, and also to use the themes of nature and death. Throughout the passages, Ralph 124c 41+, and Rappaccini`s Daughter , the authors use love to create themes of death and nature. According to Rappacini`s Daughter , To Beatrice so radically had her earthly part been wrought upon by Rappacini`s skill as poison had been life, so the powerful antidote was death. And thus the poor victim of man`s ingenuity and of thwarted nature, and of the fatality that attends all such efforts of perverted wisdom perished there, at the feet of... Giovanni, her lover, had tried to interfere with a combination of nature and man, and ended up with a death at his feet. His affection was what caused him to try to save her, but it was far too late. In Ralph 124C 41+ , the same is true. Ralph 124C 41+ , says, It was the last trench in his desperate combat with Nature. It was the supreme effort. It was the last throw of the dice in the game between Science and Death, with a girl as the stakes. (Gernsback, 247.) Ralph wanted to save his love from inevitable death, but he was losing the battle, but because of the risk he took, and his perseverance, his love survived. Both stories involve a risk of some kind. For example, in Rappaccini`s daughter, Giovanni risked giving her the antidote to save her, but it failed, and nature claimed her life. On the other hand, Ralph was magnanimous in saving Alice, his wife, from Death and Nature. The two stories relate in theme, and objective of their respective protagonists. All in all, the stories are similar and comparable in many ways, but have slight ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
