Relationships Make Us Do Crazy Things
Love Relationships make us do crazy things. The love that lies within relationships has led many
people to do irrational, erratic, erroneous, and unstable acts. People have killed, cheated, broken
people s hearts, ruined others lives, and ruined their own. Love is a rose. At first glance, and if treated
properly, it would look beautiful and romantic. However, when you get down to the roots of it, pain
stems and hurts you deeply, as the thorns pierce your skin. If you treat it properly, cherish and nourish
it, it will continue to live on and prosper. If disregarded and not cared for correctly, it will slowly die
away over time, and you will be left with nothing. Many people have fell in love, and just as many
have fallen out of it. It happens multiple times with the same person, and it could very much happen
with multiple people. As much as it is a thing of spirit and unexplainable, there is some science behind
the history of love and what it causes. What is love, and why does it send us on an emotional
rollercoaster through life without giving you the slightest clue of when it will end? The answer is
simple, actually. Love is usually explained as magical and a thing of spirit, but science and psychology
can very well explain how love can drive us to do crazy things.
The Scarlet Letter is a story that can be used to explain love, and what it can do. The Scarlet Letter
starts off with Hester, the main character. She is on a scaffolding in front of everyone, being shunned

Case Study On Early Childhood Development
Introduction
According to Merriam Webster dictionary (1828), observation is an act of recognizing and noting a
fact or occurrence. Observation in Early Childhood is important so teachers are able to meet
developmental needs of young children through evaluation and assessment. The purpose of this case
study is to observe the characteristics and behaviors of a child s stages of development in an early
childhood class; the child s dominant stages of play would also be highlighted based on Parten s stages
of play. Activities and strategies would also be recommended to improve areas in which the child can
be assisted. These areas would be the cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains. Demographics
Energetic and jovial are only two (2) interesting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first behavior that would be discussed is that of the cognitive domain. This cognitive area consists
of brain development of the child, whether the child has healthy experiences appropriate for learning.
Tyler is being exposed to a stimulating environment in the classroom that exposes him to discover and
play. He has exhibited learning, thinking and problem solving skills according to Piaget s
preoperational stage of development in cognitive development of young children. In this
preoperational stage that ranges between children two (2) to six (6) years old, Tyler has acquired
language, he is able to listen, speak and respond. He exhibits symbolical play where he is able to
pretend real objects are imaginary items. Based on the results in the checklist, (see in appendices)
Tyler was able on numerous occasions during math classes to identify objects by their shapes, color
and size. He is able to count, touch and name body parts and can recall the events of the day and ask
questions for clarification and

Anxiously Waiting For The Next Therapy Session
Anxiously waiting for the next therapy session, I began to pace back and forth through the office. For
the past six months, I had been dreaming of finding a way to incorporate my food science background
in an Occupational Therapy setting. Most people had doubted by ambition to combine the two fields,
but I was confident that I could find a way for them to parallel. As I paced around the room, I recalled
the details of the next client. He was a 6 year old foster child with severe food anxiety. Constantly
transitioning to and from different foster homes, he had never lived in a stable environment. As a
direct repercussion of this, any new foods that he encountered resulted in a major anxiety attack.
Consequently, he was quickly declining to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then he placed the bread in a pan and fried an egg inside the hole. This may seem like an elementary
task, but it for this little boy, building his bird s nest was the greatest accomplishment of his life. Each
week we would work to overcome every fear he encountered from touching the bread to cracking the
eggs and even tasting the final product. After several weeks of continuously working to build different
bird s nest, he finally overcame his fear and took a bite of the egg and toast. While chewing, the little
boy couldn t stop smiling from excitement. He told us that as soon as he got home he wanted to make
his mom a bird s nest too. Little did he know, his foster mother had been making him eggs and toast
every day and he had been refusing to eat it. The idea was to make the food as non threatening as
possible and after weeks of carefully integrating, we were able to accomplish this task. Being apart of
this little boy s progress is one of the most influential moments of my life. Seeing the little boy
overcome his fears and being able to contribute to his success fueled my desire and passion to become
an Occupational Therapist. I learned that even with a degree in Food Science, Occupational Therapy is
so diverse that I can apply my food sensory background in my therapy sessions.
Growing up, I always imagined that I would go into the Food Science field. My father had a great
career in the food industry and had influenced me to pursue a career that fed the world. I

Cognitive Functions and Phineas Gage The discussion of this paper is the role of cognitive brain
functions and Phineas Gage. The amazing story of Phineas Gage will be analyzed and the explanation
of cognitive functioning in regard to his situation is very interesting and is also a major topic in this
paper. Cognitive brain functions will be thoroughly examined in this paper as well. Cognitive
functioning is when an individual has the ability to use mental processes to learn, reason, problem
solve, make decisions, and comprehend. It also helps in focusing your attention and remembering
events. Without cognitive processing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is perfect correspondence between the retinal image and the cellular encoding in V1 (striate
cortex), which is completed in terms of contrast and orientation. From there, information from the
retinal image is sent forward to distinct regions of the occipital lobe for more complex encoding,
called extra striate cortex, including V2 (discrimination, orientation, and color), V4 (shape), and V5
(motion) (Stevens PH.D., livestong.com) The parietal lobe is the dorsal part of the brain. The sensory
cortex is located in this section where sensation and perception is integrated. This lobe is most
commonly associated with its capacity for spatial processing. It is here that external visual, or
environment based, coordinates may be translated into internal, or body based, coordinates and vice
versa. (Stephens PH.D, livestrong.com) The Temporal lobe located at the bottom of the brain is used
to process visual information. In the temporal lobe there is an area for language comprehension and
the auditory cortex processes sound. This lobe helps with processes related to recognition and
associative memory. The Frontal lobe holds a very high position in the brain and is located directly in
the front of the brain. This lobe conducts the entire decision making process and also has connections
with memory, emotion and an individual s personality. But it is also

Essay on Greek Hospitality in The Odyssey
Greek Hospitality in The Odyssey The Greeks have been known for their hospitality and politeness,
especially when treating guests whether strangers or not. This is demonstrated near the beginning of
the Odyssey when Telemachus went to Pylos to visit Nestor. Nestor, not knowing who he was taking
into his home as guests, treated them with great honor and respect. Now is the time, he said, for a few
questions, now that our young guests have enjoyed their dinner. Who are you, strangers? Where are
you sailing from, and where to, down the highways of sea water (p 299)? If ever Greeks were to serve
themselves before their guests or even a little better than them, then they were breaking the most basic
of all Greek customs, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The girls washed, fed, and clothed him. Impressed with his manliness, Nausicca told him how to get
into town and appeal to her mother for even greater hospitality. Queen Arete and King Alcinous gave
Odysseus the best of what they had and showed him great hospitality. The King also offered his
daughter s hand in marriage, or if he desired, assistance in returning home. Nearest his throne the son
whom he loved best, Laodamas, had long held place; now the king bade him rise and gave his shining
chair to Lord Odysseus. A serving maid poured water for his havds from a gold pitcher into a silver
bowl, and spead a polished table at his side; the mistress of provisions came with bread and other
victuals, generous with her store. So lord Odysseus drank, and tasted supper (p 356). The next day
Alcinous also ordered a feast and an athletic contest to be held in honor of the stranger. If Odysseus
did not receive the courtesy that the people of Scheria showed to him while he was at Scheria, there
would have been a good chance for him not being able to make it back to his family and kingdom.
Odysseus was deceived a number of times by his assumption that he and his crew would be cared for
with the same Greek hospitality and kindness they were accustomed to. One such example was when
Odysseus landed on the island of Kyclops. After landing, Odysseus and twelve of his shipmates went
into Kyclop s lair, expecting to

American Born Chinese Book Report
In the book American Born Chinese, Gene Luen Yang gives us an entertaining story of a common
simple goal to fit in. The book being intended for a middle school audience; it does an outstanding job
of relating to adults as well in many ways. Reading the book has taught and reminded me of many
things. Such as; accepting yourself, being who you are, and not changing for others. These goals are
helpful when you re getting situated in a new environment. Not only does Yang relate to middle school
students, but to a variety of readers in many age levels and not just one in particular. My impression
on the book was very positive. I loved how amusing it was, funny, and at the same time teaches a
lesson in each different story it tells. The book is written in a comic book like theme. I enjoyed how
universal it could also be, because it explains issues of stereotypes. No matter what race or ethnic you
are you can t help but being categorized wherever you go. The stories made me reflect about stories of
how I felt wanting to fit in somewhere new. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Geography Geniuses Generated 3 Behaviorist Theory
Everybody learns in different ways, including the students sitting in the classrooms. How are teachers
going to be able to make sure every student learns? Maribel, Julianne, Michelle, Matthew, and Ana are
Geography Geniuses and are here to advise how to ensure that every student learns. Focusing on the
3rd grade standard SS.3.G.1.1, students will use thematic maps, tables, charts, graphs, and photos to
analyze geographic information. The information being taught is declarative because students will
acquire factual knowledge and information that can be spoken about at any time. The activities utilize
hands on and drill methods with the objective that if students are shown a blank map they will be able
to recognize and recall all elements of the map automatically. Lastly, they fit into the remember and
understand levels of Bloom s Taxonomy because students will remember locations on the map and
later understand different information and landmarks embedded in states. With all this in mind, the
Geography Geniuses generated 3 behaviorist and 3 constructivist activities that allow the students to
learn and practice geographic locations.
The first activity my third grade students will learn is a constructivist activity, which promotes active
learning and learning by doing. It derives from constructivism one of Piaget s theory it is defined as
the view that meaningful learning is the active creation of knowledge instead of a simple transfer of
objective knowledge from one person to

Reaction Paper On Octopi
I have been fascinated by the intelligence and resourcefulness shown by octopi for the past few weeks
since I went scuba diving. The main purpose of this trip was to be able to learn more about octopi in
their natural habitat, as I had been given an assignment regarding the morality of consuming octopi. I
was given the opportunity to fully observe the complexity of octopi in their natural habitat. I realized
these animals capabilities people fear these almost harmless animals? In the past, I truly enjoyed the
savory taste of a variety of octopus inspired meals. Many people disregard the octopus, giving it little
to no thought unless there is a debate for dinner. Thinking of it as another average creature, as I did,
with little to no intelligence, this is a common misconception that is meant to give some kind of
justification when consuming the animal. In reality, octopi are one of the most intelligent species,
having highly developed sentient characteristics. The more research I did regarding the octopus, the
more my personal moral dilemma shifted to the support of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

childish cartoons. Most pictures found in the English language are more serious, showing octopi in
their natural state; sadly the same cannot be said for the lobster. Many restaurants in western society
cause the octopus unimaginable amounts of pain, some even provide the octopus still alive, to be
devoured by the participant; giving the octopus more than enough time to realize it s soon to end

Madoff Case Study
Author s Viewpoint In the case study about the Bernie Madoff scandal, the author makes the point that
the motivation to succeed in business can present a conflict with the fiduciary duty that a business
person has to the client. There is question whether Madoff was motivated solely by greed, in which
case he was engaged in a simple Ponzi scheme, or whether he used the Ponzi scheme to hide his
failure to generate returns for his clients. Madoff s lack of transparency violated the trust of his clients,
even if he did not initially intend to defraud his clients. There is some ethical ambiguity in this case.
Discussion The lesson of this case is that transparency is the best policy, since secrets only allow the
unethical behavior to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Two The most famous Ponzi scheme, and which gave rise to the term, involved Charles Ponzi s sale of
international reply coupons to be reimbursed for postage stamps (Grossman, 2012). Like other
schemes, Ponzi paid off investors with proceeds generated from newer investors. Ponzi s scheme is
notable because it not only lost investor funds but also brought down six banks. However, this scheme
was relatively small compared to the one launched by Allen Stanford, which defrauded investors of
more than $7 billion, compared to Ponzi s $20 million. Three It is almost impossible to believe that
Madoff s sons did not know about their father s fraud, and thus they were complicit ethically if not
legally. They could have simply reviewed the investments that Madoff claimed to have made to
generate the returns, which would have revealed no link between investor assets and the investments.
Madoff would have had to prevent his sons from reviewing any of the transactions. Madoff s sons not
knowing of their father s scheme may be far fetched, since his sons were directly involved in trading
as the Director of Trading and Director of Proprietary Trading. Four The ethical issues surrounding
running a family owned business relate to the ability to remain impartial and transparent to a third
party who has the interests of investors, customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders at heart. The
family has a single interest that could result in a cover up when wrongdoing occurs. By

they try to build up their wealth to be able to live on their own. The story is based around George and

George and Lennie have the same dream, to live in a ranch together one day and be self sufficient. In
Of Mice and Men, this dream is a common theme that is discussed between the two often. Lennie and
George discuss the plans together in chapter one while sitting on the river bank when George says
Someday we re gonna get the jack together and we re gonna have a little house and a couple of acres

is not just Lennie who makes the plans. Lennie then interrupts and yells excitedly, An live off the fatta

plans spoken through George s mouth. The dream is a common topic throughout the novel and once
again George tells Lennie about the dream and then he sits entranced with his own picture, (58).
George is filled with wonder and delight, just thinking about this dream that they share together. After

Mortgages in the Brink of Meltdown
Ethics Essay:
The Subprime Mortgage Market Meltdown
What were the responsibilities of the mortgage broker to borrowers? To lenders?
To investors? How well did they fulfill their responsibilities? Why?
The responsibilities of the mortgage brokers to the borrowers, lenders, and investors were to promote
the subprime mortgages to these groups of people in order for them to take out a loan. Although they
did fulfill their responsibilities of promoting and having people sign up for it, they mishandled on how

It s a risk that these investors took where in the end, they were financially hurt by it due to the part of
the subprime lenders acting unethically. Not only the subprime lenders, but also the investors because
they started to loose their standards once the subprime mortgages were booming and becoming more
profitable. The investors were blinded by the profit and not paying attention to the qualities of
business and the loans. Once the investors started to loose their standards, that s when the subprime
mortgages were being overlooked in which they were hurt by it.
Should the borrowers (homeowners) share in the blame? If so, how?
Yes, the borrowers (homeowners) should share the blame because they were getting loans where they
didn t have the sufficient income to pay it back. This is the reason why people shouldn t lie on their
income information when investing into getting a mortgage or financing a car because it can hurt the
lender and the borrower. They might be able to pay payments at first, but once the interest rate starts to
increase, it can be difficult to make the payments because it might be higher that they intended to me.
That s when you start to have people file for foreclosure and end up filing for bankruptcy. The lender
will also end up being hurt from it because they won t anyone to pay off the debt and can ruin them
financially. Especially when they have

Christian Medieval Medicine Research Paper
Christian medieval medicine was most certainly painful, very perilous, and possibly pointless. For
example, flagellation was quite common practice in Christian medieval Europe, as religion was very
prevalent in practice to do with curing oneself. There were other such harmful but generally fruitless
treatments, such as bloodletting (though in certain scenarios this could actually help with the illness).
Along with this, there were also poisonous anaesthetics used. One such recipe contained useful things
to make poison pass and to make the patient unconscious. However, this also contained hemlock,
which is a poison that can be fatal.
Christianity played a huge part in the medicine of Europe at that time (the reason flagellation was
used), so prayer itself was also a common cure all, along with holy artefacts and other holy things.
People were also not permitted to perform dissection on cadavers, making it difficult if not impossible
for medicine to progress. This meant that it stayed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was due to the allowance of experimentation on cadavers, as well as them having access to the
Greek and Roman books Europe also had access to (to test against).
The medicine and approach to medicine was very scientific. They tested methodically against the
books and resources they had to make their own, to make medicine less perilous and pointless. Most
Islamic medicinal practice was still painful.
Somewhat contrary to the fact that their approach was scientific and methodical, many people in the
Islamic region used amulets to protect themselves from the evil eye and the genies they believed
caused all sorts of ailment.
Medicine was so ingrained in the culture, in a way so directly contrary to the way it was in Europe,
that it is no surprise that it was less perilous and pointless (yet not necessarily less painful) than
European medicine.

Compare And Contrast Relative Dating And Radioactive Dating
There is multiple ways to determine the age of fossils. Two well known techniques are relative dating
and radioactive dating. Even though they are similar, they both come at the situation a different way.
They are both different and they have their own techniques. Relative dating uses the location within
the rocks layers. Radioactive dating uses information that they gather from the decay of radioactive
substances within an object. What s the difference in relative and radioactive dating? All though, both
of these techniques are used for the same thing, they are very different from each other. They both use
different types of things to measure how old the fossils are. Radioactive dating is something that
people use to determine the age of rocks. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They were able to learn about dinosaurs and how old they were and when they were discovered by
radioactive dating. Radioactive dating allows scientist to record things in the past. In order to do this,
they have to use the ratios of isotopes to determine the age of the rocks and fossils. Some chemicals
that they use in radioactive dating are Carbon, uranium and potassium. Each one of these elements are
made up of atoms. In each atom, there is a nucleus. Inside of that, we find a neutron, and when they
become unstable, they let go of energy. When they let go of this energy, it is called radioactivity. It
occurs when the nucleus has an excessive amount of neutrons. The variation of neutrons are called
isotopes. Isotopes are a form of an element that are unstable. When going through radioactivity, the
unstable isotopes break down and form a new element. The isotopes are never destroyed but they turn
into something else. As far as the accuracy goes, people are proven to believe that this is a very
accurate method. They say this because radioactive dating is based on radioactive decay of unstable
isotopes. They have ways of proving that this method is in fact correct and very accurate. They say
that radioactive

My Favorite Game Of Football
The team was on fourth down and five yards away from the touchdown. Down, set, hike. The
quarterback rolled right. He threw a bullet across the field to number 7, the receiver, who was wide
open and ready for the ball. Number 9 leaped from midfield and knocked the ball down. The crowd
went wild. He had just saved the team from losing. All his teammates ran onto the field and chanted
his name. It was at this moment that I knew I loved football and wanted to feel like the guy that was
number 9. Growing up, I loved playing sports. They got my mind off other things going on and was
like therapy for me. My favorite sport to play was football. My parents never put me in any sports.
They had just never felt the need to. My parents grew up in India with poor education and knowing
little English, played a huge part in my childhood. They did not read kid s books to me and I don t
remember watching all the hit shows that children my age use to watch. They were busy on putting
food on the plate and focused on securing mine and my brother s future. I was always jealous of the
other kids in my class of the nice clothes they wore and their connection with their parents. I would
stay after school sometimes to watch kids from my grade practice on the field. I always thought that I
would never be able to play as good because of my genetics. I would hate my parents for not putting
me into sports and not having the right genes. I knew I would never get to be as tall or as big as them
and I blamed it all on my parents. When I got into my teens, my cousin invited me to go to a flag
football practice that he played for. I watched him and his other friends play and I was intrigued. As
soon as I learned the rules, they put me in as the wide receiver. I was very nervous because I did not
know what to expect. The quarterback called hike and I ran the play that he gave me. He made me do
it at least ten times and I probably had only caught the ball twice. I was extremely embarrassed. But,
the people on the team encouraged me and told me I would get better with practice. That is exactly
what I did. I came out to every practice with my cousin driving me there and poured my heart out in

Characteristics Of Airasia Competitive Strategy
Competitive Strategy
Based on Porter 5 Forces(1980) diagram to build four prominent business strategy, cost leadership,
differentiation which can be combined to build the competitive strategy.
Figure 1
Cost leadership is one of the most common business strategies which refer to the organization s ability
to produce a product or service at a cost below competitors can achieve between AirAsia and other

driving costs to generate profit margin. Instead of the offering lower cost price, customer also

Choosing the differentiation and characteristics of the products and service recommended or method
in which it is delivered and developing organizational capabilities required to achieve the fundamental

Jeanette has lived a sheltered life with no influence on her except for the church. Her mother is a strict
Christian with a deep resentment for things and people not within her fold. Being brought up in a
society where going against the norm is a sin. A society that shakes its head at acts of individualism

the Lord and teach his words to others. Her goal in life was to go and be a missionary, to teach others
how to believe in God. Combined with this imbedded sense of self is the confidence Elsie gave her.
Elsie not only understood
the word of the Lord and came from within the society Jeanette grew up in, she had a sense of the
world around her, that the world didn?t start and stop with the preaching of the Lord. Elsie gave
Jeanette a feeling of fellowship, a deep friendship that was based on true feelings, not the Lord.
In one part of the book Elsie helps Jeanette with the transition of home schooling, which was based on
biblical texts, to public schooling. Elsie gave Jeanette a way of incorporating her biblical background
into a public school setting, even if it did shock and raise eyebrows. The older woman gave Jeanette a
much needed avenue to express herself. At this time her mother is not too upset with the friendship.
She likes the reaction Jeanette is getting from her religious art works and other biblical oddities that
seem out of place in public school. Elsie is still seen as a fellow follower, a follower of Jeanette?s
mother.

Fur Farm Ethical Issues
To finally decide if fur is morally ethical it is necessary to look deeper into the process of creating the
pelts. Fur farming is the easiest and most popular way to produce the fur skins, which are later used to
create garments, trims and accessories in fashion. The main and most important furbearers kept on
farms are minks and foxes. According to Linzey around 50 million mink (Mustela vison) and 7 million
foxes (mostly Arctic fox, Alopex lagopus) are bred each year to meet the world demand for their skins
(2009: 97). When hearing the term fur farm most of the people would imagine a warm and friendly
environment where animals are kept healthy, well fed and happy, but the reality of it seems to be
different. The facilities at fur farms reminding more of a prison cells. For their entire lives the animals
are kept in small, wired cages which are preventing them from doing any of their natural activities
such as making nests, running or swimming. Furthermore, living in a small cage in such conditions
causes many of the animals to go insane. Their frustration due to anxiety and the inability to meet their
basic requirements often leads to self harming by for instance biting their own skin, tail or feet, and in
some cases even cannibalizing their own cage mates. Studies show that majority of these animals

Essay About Peace In Cologeria
Given the tumultuous political environment in Colombia during this period, it may come as a surprise
that a third round of peace talks commenced in 1998. The FARC, having reached its peak during this
time, was waging an all out insurgency against the state. The push for peace came at the behest of the
citizenry rather than the state. In a strong display of unity, 10 million Colombians voted to for the
Mandate of Peace in October of 1997 in a popular vote. Thus the government under the Pastrana
administration initiated peace negotiations amidst a brutal war with the FARC. President Pastrana took
office under the promise of implementing two initiatives: the first was to negotiate with the guerrillas
and paramilitaries in an effort to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through the public hearings, 25,000 delegates participated in presenting various proposals for peace.
This process was also unique in that various international actors, including European, Latin American,
and Canadian governments as well as representatives from the United Nations, participated either
directly or indirectly. U.S. support for the negotiations was weakened, however, by the fact that the
FARC had recently abducted and killed three American activists. This had the effect of weakening the
overall peace process. Nonetheless, the third peace process had begun.
The agenda for negotiation in May of 1999 included a variety of different topics, focusing on 12 main
issues and 48 sub issues. These issues included: human rights, agrarian policy (the distribution of
lands bought with drug money and the substitution of illicit crops), natural resources, the revision of
the economic and social development model, reform of the Justice system and the state, accords on
International Humanitarian Law (IHL), the redefinition of the peace time role of the armed forces, and
international agreements and the democratic mechanisms legitimizing these. Efforts were made on
behalf of both parties to build confidence. Among these efforts was the initiation of ceasefires during
Christmas and the New Year in 1999/2000. It is important to note that, though each side was
continuing in the peace process, there was no overarching

Duality In Plato s The Republic
In Plato s The Republic, Socrates reasons that poets are detrimental to society because they portray
false and abstract images that feed the bad and impious parts of the human soul, corrupting people by
allowing them to indulge in inappropriate and cowardly behavior. However, Socrates s views seem to
be based solely around reason and an objective, quantifiable truth. He wants people to be so pious and
under control that they do not even experience impulses towards impiety, however the elimination of
the choice between right and wrong also eliminates any value in the choosing right. Duality is an
integral part of human experience and it can perhaps teach us more than a simple existence of piety.
Socrates postulates that poetry and other imitative

Essay on History of the Democratic Republic of Congo
Prior to 1960, Belgium and their King, Leopold ruled the Congo region. They held great interests in
the rubber industry and created harsh labor camps that exploited the people. That is why after gaining
independence in 1960, the nation then known as Zaire plunged into chaos. Military unrest coupled
with oppressive warlord throughout the region made it a very unstable state, ready to collapse.
Nowadays, U.N. peacekeeping forces hold posts in the nation to maintain its stability. The United
States has had foreign relations with the country from 1960 and has signed many treaties to help
promote growth in the region. One such document is the Peace, Security and Cooperation framework

That is another reason why U.S. economic involvement in the DRC is seen as very important, because
it produces stability in the region, leading into the next point. As stated at the end of the last
paragraph, the U.S. must prevent more military destabilization in the region through both military and
economic means. The early mission statement of the United States Africa Command states that the
West s long term strategic interests in Africa are clear: we must thwart the growth of terrorism and
transnational crime; we must prevent destabilizing mass migrations; and we must maintain secure
trade links. Through military invention and economic aid, both the DRC and other nations in Africa as
well as the United States will benefit with increased national security. In 2001, the UN blamed the
various factions that fought a brutal five year war in the DRC for deliberately extending the conflict in
order to plunder the country s extensive supplies of gold, diamonds, and timber (World Geography).
Through the Peace, Security and Cooperation framework the U.S. is able to maintain a Special Envoy
for the Great Lakes and the DRC to prevent further exploitation of resources. The Envoy has a main
goal of locating and destroying the main root cause of instability in the region. In other economic

Cobb Is In Reality Examples
I believe Cobb is in reality at the ending scene of the movie. There are a few examples and details that
lead me to believe Cobb is in reality. In parts of the movie Cobb is shown wearing a wedding ring on
his ring finger but that is only when he is in the dream world. Another example is the totem. When
Cobb walked into his home where his children were he spun the totem to test if this was really reality
or if he was just dreaming again. Towards the end the totem is wobbling just like at sometime in the
beginning where after spinning for sometime it eventually fell over leading him to believe that he was
in reality. But it never showed the totem falling over only wobbling at the ending scene. I think that
Cobb was definitely in reality in the ending scene. The last example would be his kids at the end of the
movie. In the earlier parts of the movie he envisions them in the dream world being a lot younger.
Around the beginning of the movie when Cobb was in the dream world his kids are a lot younger. At
the end of the movie where it seems like Cobb is in reality the kids are seen again but this time they
looked a lot older than before. It makes it seem like there is an age difference and drops a hint that

Comparing the Modern Organizational Theory and...
Organization theory deals with the formal structure, internal working, and external environment of
complex human behavior within organizations. As a field spanning several disciplines, it prescribes
how work and workers out to be organized and attempts to explain the actual consequences of
organizational behavior (including individual behavior) on work done and on the organization itself.
(Gordon and Milkavoich, 147) It has been evolving for centuries on how should work be done in the
public administration and how the organization should be. Research findings have emerged about
what motivates workers and how different incentives affect various tasks, employees, and situations;
and the environments in which they operate. (Gordon and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Improvisation is made inevitable in a situation where problems must be dealt with expediently and on
the spur of the moment. Taking into consideration the conflict between the Arabs and the Israelis,
improvisation is essential to running administrations. The formal theory such of Max Weber cannot
apply since its framework of rules and procedures are to ensure stability, predictability, and reliability
of performance; yet, with no stability or predictability in the environment these theories only fall short
of their expectations. Rational panning has already been pointed out a century ago by Herbert Simon
(1976) to be bounded by many factors such as: skills, habits, and reflexes, values, etc, which makes it
impossible to achieve rational planning that is suited for the situation #8230;Moreover, rational
planning does not have primary value in Israel s cultural heritage. Survival in the Diaspora often
depended on an ability to act quickly, with limited resources, under harsh, changing, and uncertain
conditions. (Sharkansky and Zalmanovitch, 2) With endless terrorism, continuous war, and a
population growth that shifts from month to month there is the perpetual challenge to respond to each
situation expediently and ingeniously. Even with the scientific management organizational theory, the
formal structure and rules, the highly centralized top management levels, and especially the
standardizing procedures would make policy making

Gay And Lesbian, Gay, And Homosexual Marriages
Recent estimates suggest that between 2.0 and 3.7 million children are being raised by lesbian, gay,
bisexual, and transgender adults in the United States, according to the 2013 National Health Interview
Survey and Gallup Poll data (Gates, 2014). The battle of equal right in many aspects for gay and
lesbian couples have been going on for years, and although significant progress has been made, there
are many aspects within their relationships that are not yet equal to heterosexual couples in similar
situations. Gay and lesbian couples have to deal with daily discrimination within issues such as
marriage, legal issues, medical issues, and mamy forms for homophobia. Adoption has been a big
question and fight for gay and lesbian couples for many years, one that is still being found today.
Questions of whether or not a gay or lesbian couple can properly raise a healthy child, if the child s
psychological development would be compromised, any many other arguments have been proposed in
disapproval of adoption for these couples. Adoption is a tedious process for a heterosexual married
couple and the challenges and hoops needed to be jumped through to finalize the process can be even
more difficult for homosexual couples and single gay or lesbian individuals. Gay and lesbian couples
have faced many challenges through the course of time, and adoption is just another part of that
challenge. Just as it is legal for men and women of the same sex to marry, so is adopting a child.
However, there is great prejudice over the issue and the power of opinion often stunts, and sometimes
terminates, the couples process and success of being able to adopt a child of their own all because of
the judges, biological parents, or spectators personal opinions. In 2004 the American Psychological
Association declared the no difference theory that states, no scientific evidence that parenting
effectiveness is related to parental sexual orientation: lesbian and gay parents are as likely as
heterosexual parents to provide supportive and healthy environments for their children, . Certain
studies show a difference in childhood development between children of same sex marriage and
biological parents, but none that deem gay or

The emancipation of slave trade in Britain
Introduction
Within two decades, Britain had made decisive actions to abolish the transatlantic slave trade, and this
made the emancipation of trade emerge as one of the most significant reform movements that took
place in the 18th and 19th centuries. In July 1833, the British parliament abolished slave buying and
selling through the passing of a Bill in the House of Commons and then in the House of Lords which
abolished slave trade all through the British Empire. How this came into place has been largely
debated and yet slave trade provided the British nation with money, employment, and luxurious
commodities enriching the country. Interpretations of the British slave trade tends to be explained by
the humanitarian or moral movements where emancipation campaigns were made by religious groups
(Porter, 43). Another famous interpretation and which makes the focus of this paper is that
emancipation of the slave trade was due to changes in economic interests. This paper argues that the
emancipation of slave trade in British land and also on the colonial territories coincided with the
periods of economic decline in the British Caribbean, and so emancipationist ideas came due to the
growth of free labor ideologies and the factory system.
The paper is going to argue this is basing on three texts; one is The Emancipation of Slavery: The
British Debate by ReĢvauger CeĢcile focusing on the

For quite some time now the stock market and the dollar have been locked in a reverse correlation.
When the dollar went up the market went down and so forth.
In particular 2009 has seen that correlation play out in dramatic fashion. The stock market had a
bottom in November 2008 and then the final bottom of the bear market run down in March 2009.
The stock market as measured by the Dow 30 industrials bottomed in March at which time the Dollar
index negatively correlated by peaking in price. In all the retracements and minor corrections that
occurred, since then, in the Dow the dollar also experienced a similar but opposite reaction.
Within the last week or so the dollar has begun to react with slightly more strength and the market
seems to be attempting to dislodge that inverse correlation between a falling dollar and a rising
market.
On Friday Dec. 4th. the Dow was up strongly in the morning with a rising dollar. In the weeks and
months prior to this if the dollar had risen strongly the market almost inevitably would have fallen.

Frederick Douglass Chapter 3 Analysis
In the first chapter of the book Narrative of the life of Frederick Douglass, Frederick douglass gives us
first hand stories about him being a young slave. Frederick was not allowed to go to his mother s
burial and he did not know his own birthday as well both of which I find very crazy because everyone
knows their birthday but for slaves that was a common occurrence, and to not be able to see your own
mother s burial sounds awful. Douglass also witnessed the whipping of his aunt at a young age and he
wrote about it in extreme detail, for any young child this must be scaring. The whipping was a
punishment for Douglass s aunt because she went to see another slave from a different plantation, in
my opinion this is a incredibly harsh punishment for trying to visit another slave. Douglass Says It
was a most terrible spectacle. I wish I could commit to paper the feelings with which I beheld it
(Douglass 4). Douglass says this when he is talking about his aunt getting whipped, he is saying that it
was so bad to watch he could not even put his feeling into words. All of these events emphasize how
bad it really was to be a slave and stripped of rights and to be treated like property.
Unfair slave masters
In chapter 3 douglass puts high emphasis on Colonel Lloyd and how he treated the slaves. Douglass
talks about how there are so many slaves on his plantation many of the slaves don t even know what
he looks like. Colonel Lloyd is very rich from his plantation and owns horses

Should School Uniforms Be Mandatory In Primary And...
I believe school uniforms should be mandatory in primary and secondary schools because it relieves
discrimination and students. School is a place to learn, not to exhibit fashion, wealth or privilege.
Unfortunately, now kids spend so much time being stressed about popularity that they hardly have the
energy to learn anything valuable.
Parents as well can benefit because buying uniforms is much cheaper and less stressful than spending
large amounts of money and time purchasing varied clothes, usually for more than one child at a time.
It is cheaper to wear school uniforms because you only have to buy one or two sets of clothes for the
entire year, whereas most people buy up to 20 outfits in a uniform free school. School uniforms take
the pressure off students to pay top dollar for clothes, according to Reginald Wilson, a senior scholar
at the American Council on Education in Washington, D.C. I think it does lower the cost of clothes,
and kids don t emphasize clothes as much when they re all wearing the same thing, Wilson said.
Certainly the competition to wear the best shoes or the best sweaters and so forth has been prevalent in
school ever since I was in school, and the poor kids felt inferior. Therefore, when all students are
dressed alike, competition between students over clothing choices and the teasing of those who are
dressed in less expensive or less fashionable outfits can be eliminated. It also really helps to get up in
the morning and not have to think about

Government Control Throughout Literary Works
Governmental control surrounds society daily and has been around for centuries. Governments came
around so that they could control others. It recurs throughout The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by
William Shakespeare, as well as in The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. Even in modern
day, government control remains a significant part of life. For example, the SOPA bill arose in
Congress when the need for anti piracy protection became urgent or the USA admitting the Yemeni
dictator into one of its medical centers. It occurs from the 1500s in The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet
to the 1800s in The Count of Monte Cristo and even modern day. Each government designs itself in a

Napoleon puts himself into power after he successfully overthrows the king of France. The French
monarchy weakens day by day and thus, the Napoleon Empire quickly establishes itself in the
monarchy s place. Governmental control appears strongly when it just takes Villefort s signature to
throw an innocent person into jail. Dantes realizes this when he thinks: Villefort s change in
demeanour during the examination, the burning of the letter, the exacted oath, the magistrate s almost
supplicating voice which seemed to implore rather than to threaten, all passed through his mind
(Dumas 61). Once Dantes learns of Villefort s treachery, his personality completely turns around. An
innocent man should not be sent to jail because someone else chooses to cover his or her tracks and fix
his or her own problems. Governmental control has become corrupted and no longer functional. The
1800s style governments opened themselves to conflict; however, corruption prevailed. Modern day
differs greatly compared to previous centuries but the need for control has continued to live on.
Modern day has vastly improved its government over the previous centuries. However, society still
faces issues due to governmental control. A bill called SOPA tried to limit creativity on the Internet,
but classed as an anti piracy bill. The USA formerly debated on whether to admit a Yemeni dictator,
one who has killed thousands of the Yemeni people, into one of its medical centers.

The History of Famous Space Films Essay
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away... Humans have been fascinated by space for generations.
They are intrigued by its lovely mystery that contains a multitude of possibilities. Significant
improvements in space discovery opened many opportunities for filmmakers to go to infinity and
beyond. Outer space has been portrayed on the silver screen countless times, from Star Wars, the epic
space opera series, to Le Voyage Dans La Lune (A Trip to the Moon), the iconic French silent film, to
Gravity, the Academy Award nominated contemporary thriller. After the moon landing in 1969, the
motion picture industry began to produce more stories about space travel; thus, a wide variety of space
films that appeal to different audiences was created. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, there are beings called Selenites that inhabit the moon. Le Voyage Dans La Lune is a
fantastic example of a science fiction film that is not quite scientifically accurate. However, it is an
excellent piece of film work for the time and also because the short, primitive science fiction film
envisioned things that happen in real space travel long before the actual moon landing event occurred
many years after the film was produced.. The famous Star Wars franchised space opera films are
probably the most widely known space film in the history of famous space films. The opening crawl is
a work of pioneering credits that no one in film had ever imagined of before. In addition, the acting is
great and the effects are created using the mathematical concept of fractals so those are reasons that
the Star Wars film grew to be so popular and in the limelight. In Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope,
there is a scene in which Luke Skywalker, the main protagonist and legendary hero, watches the twin
sunset of Tatooine s two suns, Tatoo I and Tatoo II. There are wide binary star systems and close
binary star systems. Tatooine is thought to be a close binary star system, in which the planets orbit the
center of mass very closely. In addition, the Star Wars galactic fight scenes that the space opera series
is so well known for would not occur in real space. Space is a vacuum that is void and empty of any
matter. On the contrary,

  • 2. Relationships Make Us Do Crazy Things Love Relationships make us do crazy things. The love that lies within relationships has led many people to do irrational, erratic, erroneous, and unstable acts. People have killed, cheated, broken people s hearts, ruined others lives, and ruined their own. Love is a rose. At first glance, and if treated properly, it would look beautiful and romantic. However, when you get down to the roots of it, pain stems and hurts you deeply, as the thorns pierce your skin. If you treat it properly, cherish and nourish it, it will continue to live on and prosper. If disregarded and not cared for correctly, it will slowly die away over time, and you will be left with nothing. Many people have fell in love, and just as many have fallen out of it. It happens multiple times with the same person, and it could very much happen with multiple people. As much as it is a thing of spirit and unexplainable, there is some science behind the history of love and what it causes. What is love, and why does it send us on an emotional rollercoaster through life without giving you the slightest clue of when it will end? The answer is simple, actually. Love is usually explained as magical and a thing of spirit, but science and psychology can very well explain how love can drive us to do crazy things. The Scarlet Letter is a story that can be used to explain love, and what it can do. The Scarlet Letter starts off with Hester, the main character. She is on a scaffolding in front of everyone, being shunned ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Case Study On Early Childhood Development Introduction According to Merriam Webster dictionary (1828), observation is an act of recognizing and noting a fact or occurrence. Observation in Early Childhood is important so teachers are able to meet developmental needs of young children through evaluation and assessment. The purpose of this case study is to observe the characteristics and behaviors of a child s stages of development in an early childhood class; the child s dominant stages of play would also be highlighted based on Parten s stages of play. Activities and strategies would also be recommended to improve areas in which the child can be assisted. These areas would be the cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains. Demographics Energetic and jovial are only two (2) interesting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first behavior that would be discussed is that of the cognitive domain. This cognitive area consists of brain development of the child, whether the child has healthy experiences appropriate for learning. Tyler is being exposed to a stimulating environment in the classroom that exposes him to discover and play. He has exhibited learning, thinking and problem solving skills according to Piaget s preoperational stage of development in cognitive development of young children. In this preoperational stage that ranges between children two (2) to six (6) years old, Tyler has acquired language, he is able to listen, speak and respond. He exhibits symbolical play where he is able to pretend real objects are imaginary items. Based on the results in the checklist, (see in appendices) Tyler was able on numerous occasions during math classes to identify objects by their shapes, color and size. He is able to count, touch and name body parts and can recall the events of the day and ask questions for clarification and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Anxiously Waiting For The Next Therapy Session Anxiously waiting for the next therapy session, I began to pace back and forth through the office. For the past six months, I had been dreaming of finding a way to incorporate my food science background in an Occupational Therapy setting. Most people had doubted by ambition to combine the two fields, but I was confident that I could find a way for them to parallel. As I paced around the room, I recalled the details of the next client. He was a 6 year old foster child with severe food anxiety. Constantly transitioning to and from different foster homes, he had never lived in a stable environment. As a direct repercussion of this, any new foods that he encountered resulted in a major anxiety attack. Consequently, he was quickly declining to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then he placed the bread in a pan and fried an egg inside the hole. This may seem like an elementary task, but it for this little boy, building his bird s nest was the greatest accomplishment of his life. Each week we would work to overcome every fear he encountered from touching the bread to cracking the eggs and even tasting the final product. After several weeks of continuously working to build different bird s nest, he finally overcame his fear and took a bite of the egg and toast. While chewing, the little boy couldn t stop smiling from excitement. He told us that as soon as he got home he wanted to make his mom a bird s nest too. Little did he know, his foster mother had been making him eggs and toast every day and he had been refusing to eat it. The idea was to make the food as non threatening as possible and after weeks of carefully integrating, we were able to accomplish this task. Being apart of this little boy s progress is one of the most influential moments of my life. Seeing the little boy overcome his fears and being able to contribute to his success fueled my desire and passion to become an Occupational Therapist. I learned that even with a degree in Food Science, Occupational Therapy is so diverse that I can apply my food sensory background in my therapy sessions. Growing up, I always imagined that I would go into the Food Science field. My father had a great career in the food industry and had influenced me to pursue a career that fed the world. I ... Saunders PSY 360 Evi Pover March 18, 2013 Cognitive Functions and Phineas Gage The discussion of this paper is the role of cognitive brain functions and Phineas Gage. The amazing story of Phineas Gage will be analyzed and the explanation of cognitive functioning in regard to his situation is very interesting and is also a major topic in this paper. Cognitive brain functions will be thoroughly examined in this paper as well. Cognitive functioning is when an individual has the ability to use mental processes to learn, reason, problem solve, make decisions, and comprehend. There is perfect correspondence between the retinal image and the cellular encoding in V1 (striate cortex), which is completed in terms of contrast and orientation. From there, information from the retinal image is sent forward to distinct regions of the occipital lobe for more complex encoding, called extra striate cortex, including V2 (discrimination, orientation, and color), V4 (shape), and V5 (motion) (Stevens PH.D., livestong.com) The parietal lobe is the dorsal part of the brain. The sensory cortex is located in this section where sensation and perception is integrated. This lobe is most commonly associated with its capacity for spatial processing. It is here that external visual, or environment based, coordinates may be translated into internal, or body based, coordinates and vice versa. (Stephens PH.D, livestrong.com) The Temporal lobe located at the bottom of the brain is used to process visual information. In the temporal lobe there is an area for language comprehension and the auditory cortex processes sound. This lobe helps with processes related to recognition and associative memory. • 7. Essay on Greek Hospitality in The Odyssey Greek Hospitality in The Odyssey The Greeks have been known for their hospitality and politeness, especially when treating guests whether strangers or not. This is demonstrated near the beginning of the Odyssey when Telemachus went to Pylos to visit Nestor. Nestor, not knowing who he was taking into his home as guests, treated them with great honor and respect. Now is the time, he said, for a few questions, now that our young guests have enjoyed their dinner. Who are you, strangers? Where are you sailing from, and where to, down the highways of sea water (p 299)? If ever Greeks were to serve themselves before their guests or even a little better than them, then they were breaking the most basic of all Greek customs, ... Queen Arete and King Alcinous gave Odysseus the best of what they had and showed him great hospitality. The King also offered his daughter s hand in marriage, or if he desired, assistance in returning home. Nearest his throne the son whom he loved best, Laodamas, had long held place; now the king bade him rise and gave his shining chair to Lord Odysseus. A serving maid poured water for his havds from a gold pitcher into a silver bowl, and spead a polished table at his side; the mistress of provisions came with bread and other victuals, generous with her store. So lord Odysseus drank, and tasted supper (p 356). The next day Alcinous also ordered a feast and an athletic contest to be held in honor of the stranger. If Odysseus did not receive the courtesy that the people of Scheria showed to him while he was at Scheria, there would have been a good chance for him not being able to make it back to his family and kingdom. Odysseus was deceived a number of times by his assumption that he and his crew would be cared for with the same Greek hospitality and kindness they were accustomed to. The book being intended for a middle school audience; it does an outstanding job of relating to adults as well in many ways. Reading the book has taught and reminded me of many things. Such as; accepting yourself, being who you are, and not changing for others. These goals are helpful when you re getting situated in a new environment. Not only does Yang relate to middle school students, but to a variety of readers in many age levels and not just one in particular. My impression on the book was very positive. I loved how amusing it was, funny, and at the same time teaches a lesson in each different story it tells. The book is written in a comic book like theme. How are teachers going to be able to make sure every student learns? Maribel, Julianne, Michelle, Matthew, and Ana are Geography Geniuses and are here to advise how to ensure that every student learns. Focusing on the 3rd grade standard SS.3.G.1.1, students will use thematic maps, tables, charts, graphs, and photos to analyze geographic information. The information being taught is declarative because students will acquire factual knowledge and information that can be spoken about at any time. The activities utilize hands on and drill methods with the objective that if students are shown a blank map they will be able to recognize and recall all elements of the map automatically. Lastly, they fit into the remember and understand levels of Bloom s Taxonomy because students will remember locations on the map and later understand different information and landmarks embedded in states. With all this in mind, the Geography Geniuses generated 3 behaviorist and 3 constructivist activities that allow the students to learn and practice geographic locations. The first activity my third grade students will learn is a constructivist activity, which promotes active learning and learning by doing. Madoff Case Study Author s Viewpoint In the case study about the Bernie Madoff scandal, the author makes the point that the motivation to succeed in business can present a conflict with the fiduciary duty that a business person has to the client. There is question whether Madoff was motivated solely by greed, in which case he was engaged in a simple Ponzi scheme, or whether he used the Ponzi scheme to hide his failure to generate returns for his clients. Madoff s lack of transparency violated the trust of his clients, even if he did not initially intend to defraud his clients. There is some ethical ambiguity in this case. Two The most famous Ponzi scheme, and which gave rise to the term, involved Charles Ponzi s sale of international reply coupons to be reimbursed for postage stamps (Grossman, 2012). Like other schemes, Ponzi paid off investors with proceeds generated from newer investors. Ponzi s scheme is notable because it not only lost investor funds but also brought down six banks. However, this scheme was relatively small compared to the one launched by Allen Stanford, which defrauded investors of more than $7 billion, compared to Ponzi s $20 million. Three It is almost impossible to believe that Madoff s sons did not know about their father s fraud, and thus they were complicit ethically if not legally. They could have simply reviewed the investments that Madoff claimed to have made to generate the returns, which would have revealed no link between investor assets and the investments. Madoff would have had to prevent his sons from reviewing any of the transactions. Madoff s sons not knowing of their father s scheme may be far fetched, since his sons were directly involved in trading as the Director of Trading and Director of Proprietary Trading. For example, flagellation was quite common practice in Christian medieval Europe, as religion was very prevalent in practice to do with curing oneself. There were other such harmful but generally fruitless treatments, such as bloodletting (though in certain scenarios this could actually help with the illness). Along with this, there were also poisonous anaesthetics used. One such recipe contained useful things to make poison pass and to make the patient unconscious. However, this also contained hemlock, which is a poison that can be fatal. Christianity played a huge part in the medicine of Europe at that time (the reason flagellation was used), so prayer itself was also a common cure all, along with holy artefacts and other holy things. In parts of the movie Cobb is shown wearing a wedding ring on his ring finger but that is only when he is in the dream world. Another example is the totem. When Cobb walked into his home where his children were he spun the totem to test if this was really reality or if he was just dreaming again. Towards the end the totem is wobbling just like at sometime in the beginning where after spinning for sometime it eventually fell over leading him to believe that he was in reality. But it never showed the totem falling over only wobbling at the ending scene. I think that Cobb was definitely in reality in the ending scene. The last example would be his kids at the end of the movie. In the earlier parts of the movie he envisions them in the dream world being a lot younger. Around the beginning of the movie when Cobb was in the dream world his kids are a lot younger. At the end of the movie where it seems like Cobb is in reality the kids are seen again but this time they looked a lot older than before. It makes it seem like there is an age difference and drops a hint that Cobb really is in reality. Another reason why I believe they are in reality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Outside of the dream world it shows no sign of Cobb wearing a wedding band anywhere on his fingers. Gay And Lesbian, Gay, And Homosexual Marriages Recent estimates suggest that between 2.0 and 3.7 million children are being raised by lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender adults in the United States, according to the 2013 National Health Interview Survey and Gallup Poll data (Gates, 2014). The battle of equal right in many aspects for gay and lesbian couples have been going on for years, and although significant progress has been made, there are many aspects within their relationships that are not yet equal to heterosexual couples in similar situations. Gay and lesbian couples have to deal with daily discrimination within issues such as marriage, legal issues, medical issues, and mamy forms for homophobia. Adoption has been a big question and fight for gay and lesbian couples for many years, one that is still being found today. Questions of whether or not a gay or lesbian couple can properly raise a healthy child, if the child s psychological development would be compromised, any many other arguments have been proposed in disapproval of adoption for these couples. Adoption is a tedious process for a heterosexual married couple and the challenges and hoops needed to be jumped through to finalize the process can be even more difficult for homosexual couples and single gay or lesbian individuals. Gay and lesbian couples have faced many challenges through the course of time, and adoption is just another part of that challenge. Just as it is legal for men and women of the same sex to marry, so is adopting a child. However, there is great prejudice over the issue and the power of opinion often stunts, and sometimes terminates, the couples process and success of being able to adopt a child of their own all because of the judges, biological parents, or spectators personal opinions. In 2004 the American Psychological Association declared the no difference theory that states, no scientific evidence that parenting effectiveness is related to parental sexual orientation: lesbian and gay parents are as likely as heterosexual parents to provide supportive and healthy environments for their children, . The Emancipation Of Slave Trade Yi Zhong Instructor s Name Course Title June 6 2016 The emancipation of slave trade in Britain Introduction Within two decades, Britain had made decisive actions to abolish the transatlantic slave trade, and this made the emancipation of trade emerge as one of the most significant reform movements that took place in the 18th and 19th centuries. In July 1833, the British parliament abolished slave buying and selling through the passing of a Bill in the House of Commons and then in the House of Lords which abolished slave trade all through the British Empire. How this came into place has been largely debated and yet slave trade provided the British nation with money, employment, and luxurious commodities enriching the country. Interpretations of the British slave trade tends to be explained by the humanitarian or moral movements where emancipation campaigns were made by religious groups (Porter, 43). Another famous interpretation and which makes the focus of this paper is that emancipation of the slave trade was due to changes in economic interests. This paper argues that the emancipation of slave trade in British land and also on the colonial territories coincided with the periods of economic decline in the British Caribbean, and so emancipationist ideas came due to the growth of free labor ideologies and the factory system. • 35. Frederick Douglass Chapter 3 Analysis In the first chapter of the book Narrative of the life of Frederick Douglass, Frederick douglass gives us first hand stories about him being a young slave. Frederick was not allowed to go to his mother s burial and he did not know his own birthday as well both of which I find very crazy because everyone knows their birthday but for slaves that was a common occurrence, and to not be able to see your own mother s burial sounds awful. Douglass also witnessed the whipping of his aunt at a young age and he wrote about it in extreme detail, for any young child this must be scaring. The whipping was a punishment for Douglass s aunt because she went to see another slave from a different plantation, in my opinion this is a incredibly harsh punishment for trying to visit another slave. Douglass Says It was a most terrible spectacle. I wish I could commit to paper the feelings with which I beheld it (Douglass 4). Douglass says this when he is talking about his aunt getting whipped, he is saying that it was so bad to watch he could not even put his feeling into words. All of these events emphasize how bad it really was to be a slave and stripped of rights and to be treated like property. Unfair slave masters In chapter 3 douglass puts high emphasis on Colonel Lloyd and how he treated the slaves. • 36. Should School Uniforms Be Mandatory In Primary And... I believe school uniforms should be mandatory in primary and secondary schools because it relieves discrimination and students. School is a place to learn, not to exhibit fashion, wealth or privilege. Unfortunately, now kids spend so much time being stressed about popularity that they hardly have the energy to learn anything valuable. Parents as well can benefit because buying uniforms is much cheaper and less stressful than spending large amounts of money and time purchasing varied clothes, usually for more than one child at a time. It is cheaper to wear school uniforms because you only have to buy one or two sets of clothes for the entire year, whereas most people buy up to 20 outfits in a uniform free school. School uniforms take the pressure off students to pay top dollar for clothes, according to Reginald Wilson, a senior scholar at the American Council on Education in Washington, D.C. I think it does lower the cost of clothes, and kids don t emphasize clothes as much when they re all wearing the same thing, Wilson said. Certainly the competition to wear the best shoes or the best sweaters and so forth has been prevalent in school ever since I was in school, and the poor kids felt inferior. Therefore, when all students are dressed alike, competition between students over clothing choices and the teasing of those who are dressed in less expensive or less fashionable outfits can be eliminated. The French monarchy weakens day by day and thus, the Napoleon Empire quickly establishes itself in the monarchy s place. Governmental control appears strongly when it just takes Villefort s signature to throw an innocent person into jail. Dantes realizes this when he thinks: Villefort s change in demeanour during the examination, the burning of the letter, the exacted oath, the magistrate s almost supplicating voice which seemed to implore rather than to threaten, all passed through his mind (Dumas 61). Once Dantes learns of Villefort s treachery, his personality completely turns around. An innocent man should not be sent to jail because someone else chooses to cover his or her tracks and fix his or her own problems. Governmental control has become corrupted and no longer functional. The 1800s style governments opened themselves to conflict; however, corruption prevailed. Modern day differs greatly compared to previous centuries but the need for control has continued to live on. Modern day has vastly improved its government over the previous centuries. However, society still faces issues due to governmental control. Le Voyage Dans La Lune is a fantastic example of a science fiction film that is not quite scientifically accurate. However, it is an excellent piece of film work for the time and also because the short, primitive science fiction film envisioned things that happen in real space travel long before the actual moon landing event occurred many years after the film was produced.. The famous Star Wars franchised space opera films are probably the most widely known space film in the history of famous space films. The opening crawl is a work of pioneering credits that no one in film had ever imagined of before. In addition, the acting is great and the effects are created using the mathematical concept of fractals so those are reasons that the Star Wars film grew to be so popular and in the limelight. In Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, there is a scene in which Luke Skywalker, the main protagonist and legendary hero, watches the twin sunset of Tatooine s two suns, Tatoo I and Tatoo II. There are wide binary star systems and close binary star systems. Tatooine is thought to be a close binary star system, in which the planets orbit the center of mass very closely.
