This document discusses the importance of viewing library services staff as professional colleagues rather than "the help." It notes that librarians' roles involve more than just answering questions, as they also ask questions, teach, advocate, write, and influence strategy. The document argues that viewing library staff as merely helpful risks disrespecting their time and expertise. It suggests that establishing library staff as professionals committed to learning, pedagogical research, and leadership can help change perceptions of them as support staff rather than professionals.

Presentation given at the 2014 Library Assessment Conference, Seattle, WA.
Assessments of newly renovated, academic library spaces may measure student demographics, use and satisfaction. More recently, libraries have looked at expanding new space assessment to include impact on student learning. How might assessment look within a space designed for experimentation and cross-disciplinary connection? Our presentation will center on assessments conducted at the University of Washington Libraries Research Commons, a space intended to meet collaborative needs, foster interdisciplinary connections and provide a sandbox for innovating and testing new library space designs, service models and programs.

How do we professionally self-identify and how are we perceived within our institutions? Are we support staff who order books and manage reading lists, or are we professional peers with interests in pedagogy and research?
This session, delivered at the 2nd Relationship Management in HE Libraries in Lancaster, November 2017, encouraged delegates to consider their own self-perception and reflect on some of the habits and behaviours that lead to us to identify and be identified as support staff.

There is more to RDM services than the technical skills necessary for data management. Soft skills and non-technical skills are very important when setting up RDM services, and continue to be important to the sustainability of services. Reference skills, relationship building, negotiation, listening, facilitating access to de-centralized resources, policy knowledge and assessment, are all important to the success of a service. Margaret Henderson will discuss these skills and show you how to start RDM services, even if you don’t feel confident about your statistical skills or knowledge of R.

I am happy to bring out this book titled “A Teachers Inner Voice” which is a compilation my articles from all the twelve issues of the monthly newsletter “Computer Science Faculty”. Every article was a reflection of faculty community’s inner voice, whenever I want to address some faculty issues, I will always find someone in my group who has already experiencing it tell me what it was. I use to follow my heart, listen to my inner voice and understand its relevance and applicability in reality because Non-judgment quiets the internal dialogue, and this opens once again the doorway to creativity and that’s how every month the article was been presented. I strongly believe in opinions, we meet new people every day who have something to give us. Different people have different opinions, and I respect all of them. Please share your views, opinions and off course any constructive criticism by mailing at cvsureshbabu@yahoo.com

The theme of Peer Review Week 2016 was Recognize Review, and the global scholarly publishing community got together to talk about recognizing or incentivizing peer reviewers. Celebrating the theme, we asked our authors to share small notes of appreciation for reviewers. This flip book compiles some of the responses we received, which show the important role peer review and reviewers play in the academic publishing system.
More often than not, professional library posts stipulate that candidates must hold an appropriate qualification in information or library science/studies. Some go further and stipulate CILIP chartership.
But what constitutes a professional or qualified librarian? Are these professional qualifications the only viable route into library roles? Where do we draw the boundaries?
This lightening talk will argue that we should apply flexibility to this definition of ‘qualified’ and look at some examples of where a broader definition has brought new skills and competencies into the team at The Hive.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)
Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.
