5. Compare Romeo And Juliet And Brave New World
Shakespeare has been a large influence on modern day life for decades. His use of
language, heritage, psychology, and history has influenced directors, artists, writers,
students, and so many more individuals in their everyday lives.. In Brave New
World, the author, Aldous Huxley makes many references and allusions to multiple
excerpts of Shakespeare s plays over the entire course of the novel. While he
references a lot of Shakespeare s plays, many quotes come from Romeo and Juliet,
The Tempest, and Hamlet. In Brave New Worldcomparisons can be made through
quotes and similar character analysis . Shakespeare had a large influence on
Huxley s novel through his different themes of love and romance, and his use of
using main characters to represent past characters in Shakespeare s plays. Romeo
and Juliet is referenced multiple times in Brave New World. This play, in short, is
your classic love story. Romeo falls in love with Juliet but they are not allowed to be
together because of their families. Romeo and Juliet has two main themes: innocence
and romance accompanied by a very intimate relationship. Both of these themes can
be seen in Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeareas well as Brave New World by
Aldous Huxley. Shakespeare s idea of innocent romance is heavily influenced by
John throughout the novel concerning his romance with Lenina. Oh the white
wonder of dear Juliet s hand, may seize and steal immortal blessing from her lips,

7. Foil Characters In Romeo And Juliet
William Shakespeare is the greatest playwright in the history of the world, and one
of his most famous tragedy plays is Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet by
William Shakespeare is about two star crossed lovers Romeo Montague and Juliet
Capulet. Their families are in a feud and brawls have taken place between these
two families. Romeo s personality can be viewed differently from different parts
of the play with the other characters he is around. At one point of the play he can
be seen as a positive, tranquil man and the next moment later he is a vicious,
stubborn person. Using foils Romeo s character is developed by contrasting
through Friar Laurence s wise personality, Balthasar s loyal personality, and
Benvolio s peaceful personality. Friar Laurence develops Romeo s character through
his wise personality making Romeo look stubborn. Romeo demonstrates as being
stubborn when he finds out he is banished and is willing to kill himself by saying,
Wert thought as young as I, Juliet thy love, an hour but married, Tybalt murdered,
doting like me and like me banished, then mightst thou speak, then mightst thou tear
thy hair, and fall upon the ground, as I do now, taking the measure of an unmade
grave man (3.3.65 70). Romeo is willing to take his life just because he can t be with

When Benvolio is talking to Romeo he says, Romeo, away, be gone! The citizens

thinking. Tybalt would have died either way, but Romeo killed him and now he
would be punished. Furthermore, Romeo let anger get to him to make him kill
Tybalt. Benvolio said to Romeo before the fight not to fight Tybalt or get in the way,
which led to Mercutio dying because Romeo wanted the fight to stop. Romeo then

9. Dances With Wolves And Avatar
Dances with Wolves and Avatar: Similar but Different
Dances with Wolves and Avatar are thought to be very different, but they are actually
more similar than viewers may realize. First off, these are two must see films! The
viewer walks away with much more than just having seen a movie. Both of these
movies encourage cultural understanding, motivate, and teach individuality.
Dances with Wolves and Avatarare alike in plot and cultural significance. These two
films are alike in plot because in both films, two men, John Dunbar and Jake Sully,
willingly put themselves into a completely new culture and lifestyle. They learn to
adapt to the differences and learn a new way of life in order to survive. For
example, in the movies Dances with Wolves and Avatar, John Dunbar and Jake
Sully had to learn each tribe s way of life, such as their language, hunting, and self
defense. Eventually, the two men are recognized as part of a tribe, for John the Sioux
Indian Tribe and for Jake the Na vi Tribe.
These two films are alike in cultural significance because they both show the viewer
not to believe all that is said about individuals, races, and cultures. In the two films,
both tribes were first looked at as evil enemies, but once the two men each took the
time to get to know the individuals and the tribes as a whole, they realized that it
was all just a lie. The Sioux and Na vi were actually nice people who just felt
threatened by the outsiders. The tribes needed to look intimidating so

Dr. Kauffman
The Murder of Thomas Becket
The murder of Thomas Becket was the result of a long and bitter dispute between
both Becket and King Henry. Becket was serving as Archbishop of Canterbury, and
his murder on the altar steps of Canterbury cathedral caused a political frenzy to
occur and spread throughout Europe. Becket s death occurred because of the rash
actions of four soldiers who misinterpreted an upset kings wishes. King Henry II, was
demonstrating the crowns power over the church of England by proposing the
Constitutions of Clarendon, he had divine right over the church and was in the right to
attempt to discipline ecclesiastical criminals.

This way the king could hold the church to a standard of justice. The church saw this
as an insult that they could not handle their own matters.
Because of Becket s opposition, King Henry saw this as a slap in the face since he
was the one who appointed Becket. Becket who was once his friend had now
reformed to side with the church only. Becket rebelled against Henry by
reprimanding the King, publically by calling him a sinner and refusing to allow the
silver cross to hang while in his presence. Becket rebelled in petty manners which
invoked anger in King Henry. Henry was known for his anger towards Becket, as
King he was exerting his power and the church was in constant opposition.
This famous dispute between the two leading figures of England can be detected in
the letters of King Henry and Sir Thomas Becket, King Henry felt betrayed/angered
by the actions of Becket and his view that the church was of higher power. King
Henry wrote to the French King and explained how Becket was a traitor and how he
was ashamed of his behavior towards the crown.
In Becket s letter to one of the bishops he says that King Henry, is detestable and
should be revoked of dean status of the church (Pfaff 1971). With animosity like this
arising between the two men a power struggle was bound to occur leading to the
ultimate demise of Sir Thomas Beckett. Becket desired for the church to rule in
supreme without question from the monarchy.
King Henry was the ruler of
12. Arranged Marriage In Movies
Marriage has always had one meaning from the beginning of time, which is a union
between a man and a woman. However, more recently this definition has been
changed to a marriage between two people no matter what their gender is. There are
many opinions on marriage which can be seen in the scripture, the YOUCAT, in
society, as well as in modern movies. These all have different point of views which
portray marriagevery differently. The scripture is very clear on the roles of men and
women in a marriage. Women were primarily seen as subordinate and lesser than
men. They needed to do as their husband s wished. There are times that the scripture
said that men and women were to respond to one another, and eluded to their
equality. There was also... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Arranged, the idea of arranged marriage is displayed. There are the parents who
support it because they have had success, but the daughters are hesitant because
they feel that they have no choice. There were some perks because their parents
were being logical and thinking of economic security even though the daughters
were looking for love. The movie, Pride and Prejudice, shows the how some
parents may want their children to marry for financial purposes. The older sister
Catherine agrees to marry Mr. Collins even though she does not love him.
However, she does this because she does not want to be a burden to her parents. In
the movie, City Island, there is a very complex marriage seen. This marriage had
terrible communication in which the husband and wife lied to one another. They
were not truthful because the husband did not tell his wife that he had a son or
was interested in acting. The wife, however, smoked and would automatically
assume the worse of her family. This marriage was horrible, but there was love
deep down. They did love one another, and that is clear once they started to telling
each other the truth. They were able to forgive each other, and try to move on after
this. In the start of the movie, Not Easily Broken, there is the introduction to a
religious couple. In their wedding there is three cord strand which represents the
husband, wife, and God. There was a test to their marriage such as the car accident
and the introduction of Julie. There was test of infidelity and sticking together
through a hard time. They did stand strong in the end and were not easily

16. The Theme Of Money Before People In The Grapes Of
Wrath
Which is worse; parents placing money before their children, or
hdhdhshdhdhdhdhshsj? The clear answer is that both are equally disturbing. Sadly,
both these examples are not uncommon. According to Ross, many families are
breaking down as parents place work above children and children are more willing
to self destruct as they notice they are being placed second. These modern day
examples are connected to The Grapes of Wrathby a common theme, money before
people. This is a dangerous but common theme that John Steinbeckendeavors not only
to warn but to inform his readers of. Although there are some instances of the Okies
aiding one another, money before people is a central theme in The Grapes of Wrathas

This theme reappears throughout the novel, starting with their exile all the way to
the end of their migration. When the Okies are starving and sick and in dire need
of help, the narrator says, Frantic men pounded on the doors of the doctors; and the
doctors were busy. And sad men left word at country stores for the coroner to send
a car. The coroners were not too busy. The coroners wagons backed up through the
mud and took out the dead (Steinbeck 434). This sad excerpt shows how drastically
the value of money and people s lives can be misinterpreted. Since these doctors
knew that they would receive no pay from the Okies, they simply ignored their
cries for help. In stark contrast, the coroners are paid to collect dead bodies, and
therefore are more than willing to come and take the bodies of those who could ve
been saved. This blatant disregard for human life, in unity with this excessive
preoccupation on the almighty dollar, synthesize to expose to us how central a
theme this truly is. Another reason why money before people is so imperative is
that it serves as a major source of motivation for the human opposition of the
Okies. When they first arrive in California, Tom is baffled by the cops behavior.
When he asks his friend Floyd why the cops arrest and harass the Okies for no
reason, Floyd states, Sheriff gets seventy five cents a day for each prisoner, an he
feeds em for a quarter. If

Home Confinement is the Solution to Prison Overcrowding
Prison overcrowding is one of the largest problems facing the American criminal
justice system today. Many people may think this issue does not affect them, but the
problem becomes important when overcrowding forces prisoners to be granted
early release. In cases of extreme brutality, the sentence served by criminals can be
short. Because prison space in the city is tight, each offender can be accommodated
only briefly ( Punishment ). Prison overcrowding causes a controversy of positive
and negative views concerning the construction of more prisons. Supporters claim
that building more prisons is the only solution, while opponents argue that alternative

In the article Prison Staff Feel Effects of Horrendous Overcrowding, Jilly Welch
states that, Many prisons are employing only the minimum number of officers to
meet health and safety standards. Arguments have been made that if prison
overcrowding is not properly managed, the security of prisons will be endangered,
placing staff and inmates in unsafe, life threatening conditions, and jeopardizing
public safety. Supporters claim that more prisons need to be built to accommodate
offenders as well as to ensure the safety of staff members.
The number of inmates in the nation s jails and prisons rose again last year, to a
record 1.8 million, though crime rates have dropped for seven consecutive years
(Welch). Supporters of building prisons argue that without the growth of prisons,
crime rates would have risen dramatically. Therefore advocates claim that building
more prisons will help to continue decreasing the rate of crime while facilitating the
needs of prison overcrowding. They say that prisons need to be designed to facilitate
inmate supervision by staff in the most cost effective manner. If they are not designed
correctly, the cost of extra personnel can be extremely high, outweighing any initial
advantage in construction cost that a more staff intensive design might have had
(Tipp 114). Therefore, supporters claim that although the construction of prisons may
be expensive, if they
18. Essay on Racism in American History X
American History X is clearly a film dealing with racism. The interesting thing about
this film is the way in which the subject is treated. First of all, it is obvious that,
though racism is always a difficult subject to deal with, American History X presents
it without any reservations or dumming down. Second, the film s figurehead for
racism, Derek Vinyard (Edward Norton), is not an unintelligent redneck racist as
films often portray them, but is in fact well spoken, charismatic and intelligent,
although he clearly holds ideals that are terribly wrong. Finally, the film shows that it
is not just the white, neo nazi racists who are fools to be involved in this, but all
racism is foolish. Through these methods, the film shows the viewer,... Show more

Derek s time in prison shows the results of this terrible way of life, and from the
moment he takes off his shirt in the outdoor workout area, revealing his huge
swastika tattoo to the other neo nazi inmates, he becomes involved in another
horrible situation, resulting in his being raped in the showers when things go
wrong. Perhaps the most tragic scene of the film is also its most effective in
delivering to the audience, the emotional destruction that racism can cause. When
Danny at the end of the film is shot repeatedly by a black student he had previously
pissed off, Derek runs into the school, finds his brother dead, and his life and the
lives of his family are changed forever.
What makes Derek such a powerful and frightening character is not the fact that he is
racist, it is the fact that instead of choosing a somewhat regular, backwoods,
unintelligent racist as the films central character, Derek is well spoken and bright. It
is these qualities that allow him to recruit the youths of Venice Beach and form, with
the help of his mentor Cameron Alexander, the entire white supremacist culture
permeating the area. Instead of just telling them to hate black, hispanic, asian people
because they are of that race, he makes speeches, telling them charismatically and
passionately how these people are stealing their jobs, causing Americans to suffer a
poor standard of living. He tells them America needs to take care of Americans

This concept of the teen drama is not a foreign one, and there is something about

The Middle Ages and Renaissance where worlds apart in every aspect of life. In
areas of art, tools such as perspective, realism, and individualism showed the great
leap in creativity during the Renaissance. Likewise, the worldly individual, or the
Renaissance Man , was an improvement over the ignorant, spiritual man of the
Middle Ages. Also, the revival of classical learning and education that occurred in the
Renaissancewas the exact opposite of the suppression of learning during the Middle

In architecture, technology such as Brunelleshi s dome and the use of Greek and
Roman pillars and columns revolutionized buildings. Despite all these
achievements, many people argue that the humanists were not cared about or
considered important and that masterpieces of Renaissance sculpture were not
widely seen or known (Document 3). This view is incorrect because the revival of
the classics and the wide use of all of the different artistic techniques during the
Renaissance such as realism and perspective were only possible because of the
ideas and artwork that pervaded Europe. For example, the Northern Renaissance
occurred partly because merchants bought art and books from Italian merchants
and spread it through northern Europe where countless people viewed it and began
creating similar paintings. Some major works such as the Sistine Chapel and St.
Peter s Basilica were in prominent places where many people would go to for
religious reasons, and thus, a great amount of people were exposed to the work as
well. In contrast to the Renaissance, during the Middle Ages there was no
perspective or dimension, the temper paint was dull and unimaginative, and there
was no realism or individualism. For example, the human body was distorted and
unrealistic because babies looked like little men, and there was no individualism
because religious and wealthy figures
21. Who Was Responsible For The Downfall Of Macbeth
Decisions, Tragedies, Downfalls, and Macbeth
Downfall. A sudden loss of power, prosperity, or status. There have been many a
great leader, both in fiction and in history, whose rule suddenly came to a crashing
halt. In Shakespeare s famed tragedy Macbeth, a high ranking, Scottish General
named Macbeth murders the gracious King Duncan in order to take the throne for
himself. Only a few short weeks later, his castle is invaded in an all out siege and he
is beheaded. How could such a respected man go so quickly from being a well off
General to being dead? Macbeth himself is truly to blame for his own downfall
because he is personally responsible for his own decisions and actions leading up to it.
When Macbeth murders, he begins to go crazy and his judgement turns cloudy.
The day after killing Banquo, he hallucinates the ghost of Banquo at a feast and
starts talking to it. Prithee, see there! Behold! Look! Lo! How say you?/Why, what
care I? If thou canst nod, speak too (III, iv, 72 73). Macbeth loses all sense upon
seeing the ghost and he even starts talking to it. When Macbeth tells the ghost of

22. Literature On The Basic Household Model
In our last chapter we perused through the literature on the basic household model
which serves as the fulcrum upon which our research depends. In this chapter, we
attempt to present to the reader the framework upon which our research is based.
This is important for two reasons; apart from introducing the reader to the basic
theoretical framework which forms the heart of our research, it also gives a proper
introduction into our estimation procedure which we will discuss in Chapter seven.
1.2 The Basic Household Production Model
The underlying model upon which we premise our conceptual framework is the
formal household production model which has far reaching foundation in the
literature. Its foundation in the literature reaches as far back as Becker (1965), Lau
et al. (1978), Barnum et al. (1979), Singh et al. (1986); Pitt et al. (1985); and,
Omamo (1998) just to mention a few (chapter three explains further). However, this is
not the centre of our research.
In this chapter, we emphasize the basic household model as stipulated in Singh et al.
(1986 pages 17 19) and then modify it in order to suit the main objective of this
research. It is at this juncture we would want to remind the reader of the main aim of
our research.
Our research focuses on arriving at an estimate of the farmers production efficiency
and then using this estimate to obtain precise figures for the households willingness
to pay for malaria abatement. The reader should note that we would like to

It was the beginning of a new day, I was out on the streets and I begged for food, it
was harsh for me. I felt very sad but didn t know why I was sad. That morning I
was sick and didn t feel as good as I wish I had. I had ragged clothes one with no
underwear, I just had a shirt on and it had couple holes in it. I didn t know what to
think at that moment, but all I thought was when am I getting food. I was scrawny
and dirty. Last night had been a horrible night, like every night. We barely got any
money, but that night we only got a few cents. If we were lucky we would get five
dollars and my mom would have enough to buy my siblings and I food. My mom
tried to get money and did everything to get food. The next morning we ate from the

jeepney was like a bus, but it had a door in the back instead of the side. We stayed

there was clean water and we could drink out of from. Right after that, we headed to

scary for me because there were so big. They were people on there that

PERPETUATION AND MAINTENANCE OF READING THINKS AND OTHER
ARTICLES IN LIBRARY: AN OVERVIEW
Abstract:In this digital library environment, the traditional library system and services
are being replaced by new techniques such as library automation, collection
development of e resources and networking of libraries. There has been tremendous
change in the information world. Everyone has to adopt these changes such as
printed to digital form. A perpetuation is a set of procedures, activities and preserves
all the documents long term, preserving their content. This paper provides an
overview of the major perpetuation activities, definition, concept, process and types
of media for perpetuation. This paper also presents the perpetuation standards of
library materials.
Keywords: Perpetuation, Maintenance, Digital format, perpetuation standards.
Introduction:
The library houses the document by considering the long term perpetuation of the
items while still allowing the end user to access the material easily. But all library
collections experience damage from use and decay from aging. So there is a need of
perpetuation and maintenance of library materials. Libraries have always been places
where information resources were collected, organized and perpetuated for the use of
future generations. However, application of computers has drastically changed the
work culture of libraries. Now in the changing environment, the volume of
information rapidly increasing and users

recreational marijuana use can benefit the U.S. Even though the drug is consider
dangerous, it has many pros and cons. Marijuana has many advantages. Including
taxing the drug and if it becomes legal for recreational use, it can cause more
efficient for law enforcement for more serious crimes. Marijuana has been used as
a new form of taxes as it is in Colorado Washington. Reports have shown that taxing
the drug can bring in 5 million 22 million dollars annually. Taxing the drug may
also bring a 15 percent excise based tax on the average wholesale market rate. By
taxing the drug you can bring an extravagant amount of taxes, and reduce illegal sale
of marijuana. If marijuana was legal, law enforcement can be more efficient and
worry about more serious crimes. Also by legalizing marijuana it can add... Show

If marijuana was legal, then many dangerous drug lords will potentially lose
business. But this would only increase the chance to have illegal hard drugs to be
used and sold in the U.S. The term hard drugs is a classification of many illegal
drugs that are currently being illegally used that may cause many harmful long
term physical health problems, and lead to physical addiction. So if the U.S were
to legalized marijuana, it s a high probability that drug lords would increase the use
and sale of hard drugs . So in my conclusion I believe that marijuana should be
legalized for recreational use in all states in the United States. Legalizing the drug
can have a positive effect in our economy as well to our law enforcement. But
although legalization of the drug can be positive there also some negative effects,
such as in our health and drug lords trying to encourage and distribute hard drugs in
order to maintain business. But overall legalizing marijuana for recreational use can
benefit the U.S in many

Understanding the relationship between Zhou Enlai and Mao Zedong is critical in
determining Zhou s true motives for providing sanctuary to the victims of the
Cultural Revolution. The mystery of Zhou and Mao s relationship is not that of Mao
s sadism, which has been exposed by numerous writers, but Zhou s submission. Their
relationship, and Zhou s role in Communist China, and therefore the Cultural
Revolutionis questioned by few historians other than Gao Wenqian, Andrew Nathan,
and Jonathan Spence. Their revisionist perspectives on Zhou were controversial,
labelling him as the man who let it happen , and even as a fully aware bystander

However, reviews of his book have mostly considered Gao s work as a reliable
source of chinese history, especially in regards to beloved Zhou. Historian
Jonathan Spence wrote, With Gao s book, I feel like we are edging towards a
clearer understanding of Mao and Zhou and the Revolution. The historians Spence
and Nathan find Gao s book riveting, and add value to his already credible narrative.
As someone who experienced Chinese history through the archives, it is only right
that Gao s book is deemed credible in evaluating the life of Zhou Enlai.
Andrew Nathan portrays the famous relationship between the two leaders as
mutually dependent on one another, yet simultaneously unequal. Nathan s
portrayal of Mao and Zhou is not only an addition to Gao s piece but is valued in
that it is written by someone of an outside perspective, and written from the
knowledgeable outsider s point of view. Nathan, who is a professor of Chinese
history and politics at Columbia, is an expert of Chinese history. He implies that
although Zhou believed firmly in Communism, he did not share Mao s fanaticism.
Mao s internal policies were becoming more and more extreme; Mao s launch of the
Cultural Revolution led Zhou to further disagree with his comrade and leader. The
Cultural Revolution was a political strategy of Mao, to bring those who opposed him
out into the open. It encouraged the youth of China to be more involved with
28. Summary Of Race And Sexuality Through The Microscope
By...
A few weeks ago I was required to read Feminist Intersections in Science: Race,
Gender and Sexuality Through the Microscope by Lisa H. Weasel and the article
opened an avenue for me to explore new ideas. Weasel s paper works to investigate
the intersections of race, gender, and sexuality with science. She supports her
argument with a story about Henrietta Lacks, a black woman who had cells stolen
from her body. After violating the simple rules of consent, the scientists then
proceeded to suggest that her cells represent a separate, inferior race. Some people
even linked the HeLacells to HPV and implied that Ms. Lacks slept around . Reading
about this particular form of exploitation made me quite uneasy. Contrastly, reading
Lisa Weasel s work... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Notably, the text written by Weasel reads we must question what it means to
propose that cells taken from the cervix of an African American woman without her
consent are now proposed to represent a separate species (189). One could claim
this specific type of bias is a direct effect of American slavery. In his book Between
The World And Me, author Ta Nehisi Coates asserts his opinion on the topic writing
that racism was built on acts meant, first and foremost, to deny you and me the
right to secure and govern our own bodies (8). With this in mind, by taking piece
of Ms. Lacks without consent, the scientists in question denied her and her family
their right to govern her body. Instead of getting approval for the extraction and
observation of Henrietta Lacks s cells, they seemed to make the decision for her,
infringing on her rights as a human. To take a black woman s body without her
permission is to reinforce the very core ideal of American slavery on the condition
that the black body does not belong to the individual who resides in it but is to be
used at the disposal of others. Furthermore, the scientists attempted to use her cells
as evidence for polygenism. Similarly, Samuel George Norton used human skulls
to paint the African race as less intelligent and inferior to other races. In Stephen
Jay Gould s The Mismeasure of Man he writes When Morton died, the South s
leading medical journal proclaimed (R. W. Gibbs, Charleston Medical Journal,
1851, quoted in Stanton, 1960, p.144): We of the South should consider him as our
benefactor for aiding most materially in giving to the negro his true position as an
inferior race (101). Not only are the scientists Weasel discusses in her paper are no
different from Norton, they also reinforced the most vital belief created for American
Slavery. By and large, the belief that

30. How Does Romeo And Juliet Develop Mise En Scene
These lines are spoken at the start of act II scene II after Romeo has already met
Juliet and takes place in Capulet s orchard after the Capulet ball. Romeo has just
found out that Juliet is a Capulet as she has just found out that he is a Montague. It
is spoken by Romeo Juliet enters above from her balcony. In this extended
metaphor, Romeo compares the balcony to the east which from the sun arises and
Juliet to the sun coming along to brighten the dark night. Although this scene takes
place in the dark of night Juliet s beauty makes him imagine the sun and its
brightness transforming the dark night into daylight. Romeo personifies the moon
by saying it is pale and sick with grief he goes on to continue to compare Juliet to
the sun and say she is far brighter and more beautiful. This connects to the light/dark
motif Shakespeare often uses the contrast between night and day to explore
opposing alternatives in a given situation. Here, Romeo imagines Juliet

31. Plasmid Vs Ampicillin
After analyzing the data recorded for both the agar plates containing ampicillin and
those that did not, it can be concluded that the data provides enough evidence to
reject the null hypothesis. There is enough evidence to support the alternative
hypothesis stating that there is a correlation between plasmids coding for an
antibiotic resistant geneand bacterial growth in ampicillin. When a bacterial solution
containing either pUC18 or the lux plasmid is transformed in an agar plate
containing ampicillin, only those cells which took in the plasmid are able to survive
and replicate, forming individual colonies. Not all cells are transformed though, the
chances of a successful transformation were extremely low. In order to see which cell

As expected the higher growth was seen in the E.coli cells growing outside
ampicillin environments, this is because they grow freely with only minor risk, such
as contamination. Possible errors in the experiment can have included the difference
in the amount of liquid broth added to the E.coli sample that contained no plasmid
and that which contained a plasmid. The sample containing no plasmid received half
the amount of liquid broth (150Вµl) as that of the other two samples (300Вµl).
Liquid broth can have incremented the growth in the plates containing plasmid twice
as much as on the rest of the plates. Another artifact which can have affected the
results was the time each solution spent in both the ice and hot water bath. Uneven
sharing may have also taken place within the E.coli used for each plasmid leading to
different amounts of colonial growth in the different agar plates used. More accurate
results would have been possible if there had been more variation in both E.coli and
plasmid

We found that Polypropylene was our 5th unknown. Polypropylene (C3H6) or
more commonly referred to as PP, is used for labeling, packaging, textiles, and
stationery. In 1957, the crystallization of polymer was discovered. Soon fabric was
made from the polymer, and was in high demand. It can also be used for moldings of
cars, film, tape, foam and carpet. Polypropylene can not be glued to any objects or
itself, and so it is melded. After Polyethylene, Polypropylene is the highest produced
synthetic plastic. Polypropylene also holds up well over time, which is one of the
reasons that it is the second most produced plastic. The melting point is between
130 171 degrees celsius. Because polypropylene is tough and flexible it can be used

students to stop talking, reminding students to raise their hand and wait to be called

36. The Importance Of Alcoholism In Beowulf
Alcohol has been observed in countless works of literature throughout history. It has
been seen a tool of an assailant, the preferred drink of unsavory character, or maybe
even a symbol of peace. The versatile concoction has taken many forms, and at times
it seems to be specifically praised and at other moments it is just a convenient
transition to the next viable part of the narrative. Yet there are some narratives that
expose alcohol as an important part of their ceremonies and rituals without calling
undue notice to this feature. While glory, fame, and reputation are significant
elements to the overall foundation of the Warriorsociety that is explored within
Beowulf, there are other less obvious elements that hold crucial substance as well.
The ceremonies such as the feasts, the passing of the beer horn, and gift presentations
are saturated with ritualdemands that must be observed. This analysis will take a
deeper look at the significance of beer drinking that is exposed as a crucial element
to the ritual completion during two different moments with the text. The first will
be the Feast after Beowulf s arrival at King Hrothgar s court and the second will be
during the feast as which Freawaru is observed distributing drink and gifts. Could
the drink be used as a formality of displaying alliance and safe boarding or could it
be a be a way to temper reactions during more emotionally charged moments?

a middle region where rocks lay like discolored monsters under the surface, and
then he was in the real sea a warm sea where irregular cold currents from the deep
water shocked his limbs. (Lessing) Being out alone in the middle of a dangerous

he was ready to go through. His heart quieted, his eyes cleared, and he sat up. He

This paper will highlight some of the historical points of division in Christianity and
reflect on ways the church succeeded and failed in practicing professed beliefs.
Christianity has become so diverse that some theologians have called it Christian
Pluralism (Melton, 2007). In 1982 Anglican theologian David Barrett estimated that
there were 20,800 denominations in Christianityacross the globe (McGavran, 2012).
Early Christianity Division in Christianity has occurred in most of its history. Four
sects in early Christianity (predating canonized New Testament) were the
Marcionites, the Gnostics, the Jewish Christian Adoptionists, and the Proto Orthodox
Christians (Ehrman, 2008). The Marcionites believed that God in the Old Testament

In response to this Donald McGavran cites Paul by comparing the different
denominations and emphases of the church to actual body parts as Paul does in 1

states Nevertheless, Missouri Synod Lutherans and Southern Baptists ought to
believe that the other denomination is a genuine part of the body of Christ (
McGavran, 2012). He also points out that while many of these churches recognize
each other as other parts of the same church they also tend to favor themselves as
more correct in their beliefs or interpretation (McGavran, 2012). It could be
compared to an eye or ear of Paul s illustration recognizing the importance of the
eye, ear, or other body part but then still treating the self as superior to the other part.
The parts need to work together for the body to

the chess game, Block and Jöns begin their journey to Block s castle when they
encounter a band of actors. Block and Jöns continue on their journey when come
across a village, and they decide to stay for a while. At this village, they encounter
a young girl accused of witch craft, the actors, and Block begins questioning God
and his faith. Block goes to confession and confesses that his belief in God is
dwindling because he has never seen or heard any proof of his existence, but little
does Block know, that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the film there is never masculine/fighting justice, but instead, there is
a religious justice established. Some examples of this is when Block is trying to
find the purpose of life and how God relates to everything. Block comes across a
young woman who claims to know the Devil and block asks to see him because
the Devil is the only one to who could tell him about God. However, Block does not
see the Devil and realizes that there is no higher being acting over the young
woman. Block gives her pain medicine because he knows that she will not be saved
and by doing this Block establishes justice for this woman because he knows that
she does not deserve this fate because she is not possessed by the devil. Another
example of justice that is seen is when Block distracts Death to let the actor family
escape. Death asks him if Block has done his good deed yet and fulfilled a great
purpose and Block answers, yes. This great deed was saving the family from the
Death and from the plague. In this scene Block established justice for this kind
family by saving them from Death. Additionally, there were moments were revenge
occurred. One of these moments is when Jöns saved the servant girl from being
raped by the doctor. Later, Jöns encounters the same man and burns his face.
Overall, there are many occurrences of the themes of justice and
43. How Did Aaron Copland Influence The Music World
In October 1958, Aaron Copland made his television debut on the BBC program
Monitor, marking the start of a successful new sideline for a composer whose career
was already well established. Alongside ever more frequent conducting appointments,
Copland s appearances in television documentaries and interviews provided a new
outlet for his talents, particularly as his compositional inspiration began to wane.
With his distinctive facial profile, affable and straightforwardly articulate manner,
and high standing in the musicworld, Copland must have seemed to television s early
producers a guaranteed audience winner. His natural ability in front of the camera
was evident from the outset, and he brought to the burgeoning medium decades of
experience in lecturing, teaching, and speech making. Copland s decision to get
involved in television was surely influenced by the escalating success in the industry
of his friend and disciple Leonard Bernstein. Copland must have realized, like
Bernstein, the potential of television to promote American music and to increase
public understanding of serious music in general.... Show more content on

45. The Marrow Tradition By Charles Waddell Chestnut

The Marrow Tradition
The Marrow Tradition written by Charles Waddell Chestnut is novel that portrays the
struggles that African Americans face against white supremacist in the south. It
introduces many different characters and how each deals with these issues. It also
exposes the different ideas white people has against freed African Americans. There
are several different instances they show their unchanging ideas that they are the
superior race and they should be the ones to rule. The marrow Tradition explores the
many different aspects that prevent the south from moving beyond slavery and racism
into an era of equality and shared progress. On the other hand, it also depicts the
many different opinions on how African Americans should resist white oppression
and win equals rights. Chestnut expresses these opinions by introducing two major
characters; Josh Green and Dr. Miller as a way to expose the different perspectives of
the African Americanpeople against white supremacist.
Dr. Miller is an educated black man, who is part of the professional working class
of the African people. He represents the voice of caution, reasons, and believing in
taking the higher ground will help make a difference. He greatly believed in
changing the fate of his race, but only through uplifting them by means of his hospital
and institution. He is also practices and is the face of restraint against lynch mobs

In some existing work, the transmission range of an omnidi rectional antenna was
simply assumed to be a disk shaped area around the transceiver. Based on this
assumption, given a point in the plane, the neighbor set of this point consists of all
sensors within the disk shaped area around this point. However, due to the
uncertainties of a wireless environment, such as signal fading, reflection from walls
and obstacles, and interference, it is hard to estimate the boundary of the
transmission range without real measurement [42], [43]. Therefore, in practice, it is
almost impossible to obtain the neighbor set of an unknown point, unless the M
collector has moved to this point and tested wireless links between it and its one hop
neighbors, or... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, all wireless links between sensors and the M collector at the candidate polling
points are bidirectionally tested. In addition, each sensor can also discover its one hop
neighbors by broadcasting the Hello messages during the neighbor discovering
phase. After the sensor reports the IDs of its one hop neighbors to the M collector
by including the information into the ACK message, the position of the sensor can
also become a candidate polling point. In Fig. 1, we illustrate the definition of
polling points, neighbor set, and candidate polling point set by an example, where
there are four sensors s1, s2, s3, and s4 deployed at positions l1, l2, l3, and l4,
respectively. During the exploration phase, the M collector discovers the neighbor
sets of l5 and l6 by broadcasting Hello messages at these points. Thus, l5 and l6 can
be added into the candidate polling point set. Since sensors s1, s2, s3, and s4 also
report their one hop neighbors to the M collector by sending ACK to the M collector,
l1, l2, l3, and l4 also become candi date polling points. In Fig. 1, if there is a wireless
link between sensor si and position lj , we say that si belongs to the neighbor set of lj
, where si в€€ {s1, s2, s3, s4} and lj в€€ {l1, l2, . . . , l6}. Thus, candidate polling
point set L = {l1, l2, . . . , l6}; neighbor sets of
47. How To Be A Large Animal Veterinarian Essay
Large Animal Veterinarian
Every since I was a little girl I had always wanted too be a veterinarian. I did not
know what type of veterinarian but I knew I wanted to be one. As I started to get
older I realized what type of vet I wanted to be. A large animal veterinarian.
Because the I could work with cattle, horses, sheep, goats, and pigs. Being a large
animal vet consists of many challenging things. It also includes late night calls,
surgeries on the farm, and many other last minute operations. I love animals and I
really enjoy working them. I know that when I become a veterinarian I will have
fun and love what I am doing. I also have plans on going to Iowa State University.
ISU is known for their animal medicine. Being a large animal vet also makes a lot of
money. Being a large animal vet sounds challenging, fun, and exiting. But I am up...

One, your patients do not talk. Two, horses and cows are dangerous animals.
Three, the animal might not be trained and a big animal that is not trained just
makes it ten times more deadly. Those are just a few reasons why being a large
animal vet is challenging. Every summer the vet comes to my house to give all my
show cows their yearly shots and medications. I help Dan (the vet) give the cows
their shots. It is very exciting but also hard. Because the cows are always moving
especially if the cow is not halter broke. LAst summer my main show cow Minnie
got a really bad case of warts. Minnie had to be on medication for almost two
months. The vet had to come out to my house twice too remove Minnie s moles. I
got the amazing opportunity to help Dan work on Minnie. It was very challenging
because Minnie does not like the vet at all. She kept trying to back away. We had
to remove the warts on her face. We ended up having too do it at the beginning over
summer and a week before fair. Becoming a large animal veterinarian is going too be

48. Analysis Of Gwendolyn Brooks s Poem A Lovely Love
Love is not always an easy adventure to take part in. As a result, thousands of poems
and sonnets have been written about love bonds that are either praised and happily
blessed or love bonds that undergo struggle and pain to cling on to their forbidden
love. Gwendolyn Brooks sonnet A Lovely Love, explores the emotions and thoughts
between two lovers who are striving for their natural human right to lovewhile
delicately revealing society s crime in vilifying a couples right to love. Gwendolyn
Brooks uses several examples of imagery and metaphors to convey a dark and
hopeless mood that emphasizes the hardships that the two lovers must endure to
prevail their love that society has condemned. The most prominent use of imagery
that Brooks uses throughout the sonnet is the reference to locations such as alleys,
halls, and stairways. The sonnet begins with the line Let it be alleys. Let it be a
hall (Brooks 101). Alleys are usually thought of as dark and hidden passageways
that are hesitantly used. They are often linked to negative connotations such rape,
theft, fear, and murder which makes alleys avoided and empty. However, in the
very same line, Brooks mentions that it could also take place in a hall (101). Now
in contrast to alleys, halls are located in apartment complexes, hotels, houses, and
buildings that are heavily visited and used to socialize throughout the day as they are
the passageway to people s homes, rooms, and offices. In line 5, Brooks writes, Let
50. Messenger Protein Synthesis
Genes are transcribed to yield one of three types of RNA. These RNA types include
messenger RNA (mRNA), transfer RNA (tRNA), and ribosomal RNA (rRNA).
Messenger RNA carries the genetic instructions needed to manufacture polypeptides.
Messenger RNA is absolutely necessary, because genes cannot leave the nucleus.
They pass their information to mRNA, which transports that information to the
cytoplasm, where proteinsynthesis occurs at the ribosome.
Protein synthesis is the manufacturing of functional polypeptides in the cytoplasm.
Protein synthesis occurs through the process of translation. Translation is the
formation of a chain of amino acids by using the instructions a messenger RNA
strand provides. This process takes place at the ribosome. The codons of an mRNA
strand carry the instructions in triplets of bases of the coding strand of the gene. Each
codon encodes a specific amino acid to be installed into the growing polypeptide
chain. During translation, the sequence of codons will dictate the sequence of
amino acids in the protein. The amino acids are delivered to the ribosome by
transfer RNA, a fairly small and mobile type of RNA. Each transfer RNA molecule
attaches and transports a specific amino acid. ... Show more content on

This quantity ensures that there is at least one tRNA for each of the 20 different
types of amino acids used in protein synthesis. Each tRNA molecule has a 3 CCA
sequence that attaches to an amino acid. Transfer RNA s are typically 80 bases in
length. Approximately midway along its length, the polynucleotide chain of tRNA
forms a loop, called the anticodon loop. This loop contains 3 bases that can pair
complementarily with an appropriate codon in the mRNA. The nucleotide sequence
of the anticodon dictates the type of amino acid transported by the transfer RNA. For
example, a tRNA with the anticodon ACA carries cysteine, whereas a tRNA with the
anticodon AAA carries
