Foucault Sex And Power Essay
Foucault states, We must at the same time conceive of sex without the law and power without the king
(81). Foucault argues that sex and power must not be viewed as something that is only controlled by
the law but rather as multidimensional with various forms that do not manifest themselves solely in
coercion. Foucault s suggests that power is unacquired, not external but within internal structures, non
binary, intentional and non subjective, and exists simultaneously with resistance. First, Foucault
suggests that power is not a thing that an individual can or cannot have but can be exercised from
various angles in any relation. Foucault states, Power is not something that is acquired, seized, or
shared, something that one holds on to or allows to slip away (94). ... Show more content on

Similarly, like power, nature is not one thing we can point to or acquire. Individuals can point to
mountains and lakes but must recognize that nature itself is more abstract. As like power, nature
suggests a compelling relationship between individuals and the earth which indicates how it constantly
changes. Secondly, Foucault suggests that power is not external to the relationships it works upon, but
determines their internal structure, insinuating that power operates within institutions. Foucault states,
Relations of power are not in a position of exteriority with respect to other types of relationship
(economic, knowledge relationships, sexual relations), but are immanent in the latter (94). In other
words, power should be evaluated within and in relation to economics, sexuality, knowledge
relationships, etc. Power should be identified within these structures because the relationships and
connections that are formed within these structures determine and produce what power looks and feels
like. Furthermore, nature is not something that solely exists externally but as something that works
within itself. As like power, nature should be thought of as a changing process

St. Paul s Cathedral in London, England Essay
St. Paul s Cathedral, in London, England, was designed by architect Sir Christopher Wren. Approval
of this most significant architectural project took six years just for the plan. Construction, which began
in 1675, took thirty five years until finally complete in 1710. It was built to replace a church that had
been leveled by the Great Fire of 1666. St. Paul s is the largest cathedral in England, and said to be
Wren s masterpiece. He brought a range of new forms, and architectural combination into English
architecture. Masonry, brick, timber, and cut stone were used to form the structure of the cathedral. St.
Paul s Cathedral has been one of the main socially significant buildings in London. Cathedrals all

The walls hold much significance and stories dating back to the beginning of established religion.
Sir Christopher Wren s design of St. Paul s Cathedral, is not only the largest cathedral in England, but
one of the most significant stylistically architectural combinations into English Architecture.
After the Great Fire, parts of the remains of Old St Paul s were patched up as a temporary cathedral.
The structure, however, was in a very bad shape, and in May 1668, after a fall of the remains of the
building materials fell; Wren was asked to submit proposals for a new cathedral. Wren s first proposal,
The First Model , was quickly neglected, because it was said to be too modest. His second proposal
was a mimic of the Greek cross. It was a classical style of the Italian Renaissance, it was centrally
planned, and the main interior space was set beneath an enormous dome, and auxiliary spaces were
located around the sides. But the clergy, who were only familiar with cathedrals whose designs, were
Romanesque or Gothic, and were not familiar to classical architecture in his design, quickly through
out the new design. His third design, The Warrant Design , was still classical architecture, but it was
based on the criticisms of the Greek cross design. The plan was longitudinal, the nave and choir were
bordered by lower aisles, and the towers and spire suggested the shape of medieval England. This
design was approved by King Charles II, but Wren

Kennedy and the Balance of Payment
Kennedy and the Balance of Payment

What is President Kennedy s U.S. balance of payment problem?
In the 1960s, the United States was experiencing the balance of payment problem when its trade
balance was in a substantial deficit, the US dollar was under an attack and a massive amount of gold
flew out of its official reserve. Such issues in the balance of payment if exist for a long time can be a
threat to the whole economy because balance of payment closely interacts with key macroeconomic
variables such as GDP, exchange rates, interest rates and inflation rates. However, it was not an easy
task for the Kennedy government to solve the balance of payment problem as ... Show more content

The third option to solve balance of payment problem was to impose trade barriers and capital control.
On one hand, this would help to restrict import and capital outflow, thereby recover the trade deficit.
On the other hand, this policy was contrary to U.S. effort to liberalize the world trade. Economic
growth of the U.S and its allies would also be affected.
All three options directly address problem of the current accounts and financial and capital accounts.
While deflation and capital control can remedy both current account and financial and capital
accounts, devaluation only has immediate impacts on the current account. (Figure 1 bellow illustrates
direct impacts of each option to these accounts.) However, as exchange rates, interest rates, economic
growth and balance of payments are interacted, when one components of the balance of payment
improves, the other accounts will also recover. For example, when import demand increases, demand
for the dollar also increases, and therefore can prevent the outflow of gold from official reserve. That
being said, all three options can solve U.S balance of payment problem; however, there must be cost
incurred that Kennedy government have to consider.

Can any lesson be drawn from President Kennedy s balance of payment problem in the 1960s to

Greed In Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory
The 1971 movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory , based off of an original story by Roald
Dahl, is a film classic that has put smiles on the faces of young children for generations. Its hilariously
entertaining characters and chocolate filled world are enough to attract anyone viewer, not to mention
its innocent nature, making it a great watch for all ages. But if you look closely into the tale, you will
begin to see that it shows a scary resemblance to a topic far more mature than what is visible from a
glance; the seven deadly sins. Tracing back to the Bible, the seven deadly sins have been a part of our
culture for many years, covering what was implied to be the seven worst character traits a person
could possess. In taking a closer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While it is not the first thing that comes to mind when the sins are brought up, gluttony is a huge
aspect of our society, referring to the overconsumption of goods and resources to the point of waste.
Society today literally runs off of gluttony, where people on a daily basis are always after more, no
matter how much they already have. This ties into greed on some levels, but it differs in that when
people are gluttonous, they crave so much that things are being wasted or taken away from those who
don t have much. It is almost ironic to think that as much as we encourage giving to local food banks
or volunteering at soup kitchens, we are so gluttonous and waste so much food everyday that could go
to other people who have nothing and are dying of starvation. Gluttony is extremely present in the
film, specifically Augustus Gloop, who practically eats his feelings. In almost all of the clips we see of
him, his is shoving down sweets, particularly the scene in the film where he falls into the chocolate
river after trying to drink from it. Alternatively, Violet Beauregard can be seen as the best fit character
for gluttony, shown when she steals the gum from Mr. Wonka, despite him telling her not to. But there
are undoubtedly more examples that show just how gluttonous Augustus is, and he is a better
representation of the sin than any other character in the

out and out in how the rich and powerful, or those who are made of ivory and gold are able to rewrite
history. Through this ability to control the past, Big Brother is able to command how Winson and
others act socially like the restriction on facial expression and putting laws in place to even control
how people think. They are able to do this because of how they have painted the past and how it
shows them as a powerful organization that cannot be challenged, and just as in The Picture of Dorian

adoption of constant social masks that are worn by those in the novel 1984 and the lack of identity that

What is Love? Love can be described as an intense emotional feeling with the ability to change the
life of the giver and the recipient of this profound emotion. Love can be described as a verb or action.
Love can be experienced in varying levels of intensity. Elizabeth Barrett Browning credits her love for
her husband as the power that headed her emotionally, physically, and spiritually. EEB began writing
at the age of twelve, but two years later, she was confined to her home due to a chronic illness and

In the first four lines, the words used to describe love are uniquely expressing powerful emotions with
no limits. Depth, breadth, and height, are 3D terms of measurements used to measure love with
completeness. These words were used to describe feelings of great magnitude; reaching deep within,
far above, and beyond the soul. The boundless limits of her love are not contained in earthly realms,
but go beyond to the outer universe. Depth, breadth, and height, are also biblical terms used to convey
the unconditional love of God. EBB makes reference to her religion by comparing her love to the
greatest love of all, the love of God. The implication of both a physical attraction and a spiritual love,
while professing as long as there is life, this perfect love will exist.
How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. I love thee to the depth and breadth and height My soul
can reach, when feeling out of sight For the ends of Being and ideal Grace. In the next four lines
demonstrates the powerful effect love and an inability to control it. EEB is aware of these feelings

A Note On Different Relation Of Function
Recursions with Folds
Apart from using the recursion directly, fold is available to occur recursion scheme, which applies a
function to data structure/Functor to manipulate its contents. Figure 1
The above illustrates the summary of different relation of function. Below we will focus on further
explaining of how to isolate the recursions from the code in order to gain the benefit of convenience,
which is easier to control, repair and further develop the code.
In (inception) Fix (fixpoint)
The whole idea if In and Fix is all about where the recursion of code performs in the data type, which
isolate the recursion to a single spot, usually represented by parameter k.
First of all, we would have a simple code with direct recursions and ... Show more content on

The idea of writing the value of type fix List a is shown as below:
As compared with List a and List a. we can make a assumption of:
List a ≅ List a k ≅ (Fix (List a))
By applying the assumption into Empty and Cons,
Empty :: List a k
Empty :: List a (Fix(List a))
Cons :: a k List a k
By substituting an integer, 20, into a and Empty into k,
Cons 20 Empty :: List Int (List a k)
Instead of this presentation, we want to make this in one level deeper via In,
Cons 20 9In Empty ) :: List Int (Fix (List a))
In Cons 20 (In Empty ) :: Fix (List a)
Thus, applying this idea into the case, we can conclude that In is a function to construct a new value of
type Fix f giving the functor of f.
Data Fix f = In(f (Fix f)) 1
In :: f(Fix f) Fix f Here is another example for using Fix, In to isolate the recursion: data Fix f = In (f
(Fix f))
data List a k = Empty | Cons a k toList :: [a] Fix (List a) toList [] = In (Empty ) toList (x:xs) = In
(Cons x (toList xs))
Applying 1 to this, data Fix List [a] = In ((List a)k) where k is the parameter for recursion size. toList
= foldr f k where Foldr:
Foldr :; (a b b) b [a] b
In order to abstract from f(Fix) to Fix f, k :: Fix (List a) k = In (Empty )

The Day That Changed America Essay
The Day That Changed America
On September 11, 2001, America as we know it changed forever. We were attacked on our own soil
for the first time since the bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941. Our country thought we were safe from
terrorist attacks due to the oceans that separated us. We discovered on that horror filled day that we
were extremely incorrect. Our own resources were used against us in those atrocious acts of terrorism.
America was transformed from the numerous consequences that came from 9/11. Despite the attacks,
the leaders and our nation came together for support and comfort.
Four planes were used in the terrorist attempt to tear the nation apart. Five hijackers apprehended
American Airlines Flight 11 and used that commercial airplane to crash into the North Tower in New
York s World Trade Center at 8:46 a.m. At 9:03 a.m., five more hijackers overtook the pilots of United
Airlines Flight 175 to fly into the South Tower. American Airlines Flight 77 was also seized by five
terrorists and used to crash into the western side of the Pentagon at 9:37 a.m. The Capitol or the White
House was thought to be the fourth hijacked plane s target. Because of the heroics of the passengers
on United Airlines Flight 93, the plane was forced down in a rural field near Shanksville,
Pennsylvania at 10:03 a.m. Flight 93 s voice recorder showed that the passengers and crew tried to
regain control from the hijackers. The people aboard that flight were informed of the attacks that took

around for 122 years and is a British Institution. For this reason, the advert lasts 122 seconds; each

Firstly, in the baker show at the beginning of the advert, the music is slightly upbeat evoking a sense
of anticipation. During the wartime bombed area, the music bed level drops and it changes to only
slow piano chords to signify the depression and misery of the location. Additionally, it creates tension
and emotion for the audience. This music also mirrors the boy s feelings through the tempo and pitch.
The music returns again quietly, with violins playing in a solemn and respectful way for the loss of life
from the war. It then begins to build up again with Churchill s speech, bringing a sense of defiance and
a feeling of pride. Another illustration of the music in the advert reflecting the mood of the scene is
during the world cup setting. The pace of the melody picks up and the dynamics increase to show
excitement, joy and energy. It gets louder and even more instruments are added. In the millennium
setting, the tune is at a very fast pace with many diverse instruments all playing at the same time,
which gives strong emphasis on the environment s joyful and ecstatic setting. Throughout the advert,
there are a variety of non diegetic and diegetic sounds. The music in this advert is the only non
diegetic sound. A number of diegetic sounds are used, for example, when the car is passing by in the
world cup scene, the chants the fans are yelling are diegetic as the young boy can hear them. This

High Hopes at Miracle-Gro in The Medical Marijuana Field
Dana Mattioli authored High Hopes at Miracle Gro in Medical Marijuana Field in a published
WSJ.com article of June 14, 2011. The article describes a new exploration venue undertaken by Scotts
Miracle Gro Co., to expand its market into the medical marijuana field. The company aims to increase
its revenues by diversifying its target market as a result of the recent legalization of medical marijuana
in several states.
The main characters in this article include Scotts Miracle Gro Co. who is venturing into the medical
marijuana field with Miracle Gro products. Centennial Seed Co. and General Cannabis Inc. are also
mentioned as companies that support the medical marijuana field. These new niche marketing
strategies are supported with data ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The product itself does not necessarily need to be changed as its purpose will be identical in the new
market. However, the product s packaging, advertising, image, and distribution channels will need to
be redesigned and managed differently. Mostly, Scotts will need to be able to convince its new target
market of its product s benefits and value, to generate sales.
Scotts is entering an extremely controversial market of semi legal marijuana. According to the article,
only sixteen states approved laws to legalize marijuana for medical reasons. 68% of the U.S. states
have not legalized marijuana and still disapprove of its use. Scotts will need to pursue a unique public
relations strategy to address such potential concerns about growing marijuana. Scotts will need to
build an awareness and credibility to its product and promote its benefits in the new market. It will
carefully need to choose its messages and vehicles to deliver them. Its communication mix will have
to defend the product in the new market and advocate the medical benefits it will create and generate.
Like Scotts, several other companies could benefit from the growth in the medical marijuana industry.
These may be companies that create products that assist with marijuana growth such as seed, sprinkler
systems, hot house builders, and lighting. Additionally, companies that assist with packaging, delivery,
and shipping

The Music Of Music And Music
Ludwig van Beethoven was beaten every day by his father. This was so Ludwig could become a
prodigy just like Mozart. His father would deprive him of sleep so that Ludwig could get some extra
rehearsal time. This man caused Beethoven to become a genius in music performance and
composition. Imagine if he wasn t made to learn about music. Since he is one of the greatest
influential composers in music, his knowledge wouldn t have been passed down through the
generations. Students shouldn t be forced to learn about music like Beethoven was, but they can
choose to love it on their own. They can only get this opportunity if music programs are added to part
of their education. When music education classes are added to the curriculum, the children benefit
immensely. Music education only began a couple hundred years ago. It was started after Reverend
Thomas Symmes ministered at a church which then became the first American school dedicated solely
to singing (Stanford). The school s main purpose was to teach the children how to read music for
religious celebrations. Over a hundred years later, the Boston Academy of Music was established. One
of the founders wrote the Manual of Instruction, which is a published book used for teaching music
education. Eventually this author, Lowell Mason, was allowed to instruct music education at the
Hawes School since the book became so successful. After many years music was officially
constructed into Boston s school curriculum. Since then music

Short Story Of A Pumpkin
Have you ever had a situation where you think telling the truth will get you in trouble, however lying
or not saying anything would possibly make the situation worse? Then you re faced with the decision
of telling the truth, or keeping quiet and awaiting the results. This is the story of how I learned to
always be honest.
It was a snowy, January afternoon several years ago when my brother and I were playing in the snow
at my grandparent s house. I was digging in a massive mountain of snow. I was trying to make a snow
bunker for a later planned snowball fight against my big brother. When through the white cascade, I
saw a small speck of orange in the sea of white. To my surprise, I dug up a miniature pumpkin that

pumpkin appeared to be very similar. A quick thought came to my mind, I wonder how well they fit
together? and I let curiosity get the best of me. I wiggled the pumpkin into the pipe. It was almost an
airtight fit. Then I reached my hand back into it to pull the pumpkin out, and it just pushed the
pumpkin farther back into the pipe. The stubborn pumpkin wouldn t come out! I panicked for what
seemed like an eternity, thinking about what kinds of punishments I would receive if someone found
out. But if nobody found out, I wouldn t have to face any punishments. So, I decided that I wouldn t
tell anyone about what had just happened. After it got dark I met back up with my brother who was
over by the big hill in the back of the yard. We walked back over to the house talking about the forts
that we made and how many snowballs we were getting ready. Then he asked, Did you find any
pumpkins in the snow? I Knew he discovered what I did, but I thought that I should just play dumb. I
said, No pumpkins at all. Why would you think that I found any pumpkins? He said right back, I

Canagarajah Analysis
There are a couple of authors that I agree with. I first would like to share why Canagarajah is the
author who I mostly agree with before the other one. Her intention to write her statement was to have
both evangelicals and non evangelicals dialogue in the TESOL field. She mentioned that post
positivist scholars are tired of being stereotyped. On the other hand, believers feel rejected because
they have pawned their attitudes and values to one way. Canagarajah offered on her statement what
other authors did not. On her statement she did not lean to one particular side, Christian or non
Christian. Instead, she politely exposed both sides on the plate. She asked a number of questions to
why do Christians hinder and do not attend non Christian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

IOP FINAL WORD MY IOP TOPIC IS THE DETAILED ANALYSIS OF THE CHARACTERS OF
THE PLAY THE GLASS MENAGERIE The Glass Menagerie is a play written by Tennessee

children. The play has four characters. Amanda Wingfield is a woman from Mississippi whose
husband moved the family to St. Louis and abandoned her and her two children. Laura has been left
disabled by disease, and Tom is a would be poet. Amanda s life is a mixture of reality and fantasy; she

She is delicate, fanciful, and somehow old fashioned. So shy that she finds ordinary human
relationships almost unbearable, she is totally unequipped for the romantic role in which her mother
has cast her. She takes refuge among her glass figurines, the glass menagerie that is the symbol of her
fragility and her retreat from reality. Her collection of glass animals gives the play its title .She is
extremely shy, even emotionally disturbed, and she wears a brace on her leg which makes her feel
evident. Laura is painfully shy, unable to face the world outside of the tiny Wingfield apartment. She
spends her time polishing her collection of tiny glass animals, her glass menagerie. Her presence is
almost ghostly, and her inability to connect with others outside of her family makes her dependent on
Tom and Amanda. She does not work, and she has been unable to complete a typing class because of
her nervousness. Although she says she had once liked a boy in high school, she has never had and is
unlikely to have any kind of romantic relationship. Because of her apparent physical deformity, she
has become sensitive to what people think of her. Her physical condition thus represents her mental
distress; she is crippled both physically and mentally. In search of companionship, she builds her own
fantasy world with her glass animal friends and with a Victrola and many old records. Laura, however,

Smell And Odor And Emotion
INTRODUCTION
Often, one of the most overlooked of the five senses is the ability to smell. Living things use it every
day from figuring out what the best scent is to eat the most delicious food to figuring out what
perfume makes us the happiest (and potentially, the most attractive to others). However, smell is more
than just the stench someone gives off. In fact, odor can trigger a variety of emotions. To begin the
discussion on the relationship between odor and emotion, one must define what an odor is. More than
just a sense, smell consists of molecules that recognized by olfactory receptors and must have a
specific concentration (Yantis, 2014). With much research, a relationship between memory and odor
has existed and has led to broader findings about odor and other components. According to a 2009
study, a relationship between odor and mood exists (Croy et al., 2011). However, research done
regarding odor and emotion is a fairly recent interest and has gained more attention over the last few
years. According to the American Psychological Association, an emotion is a complex pattern of
changes, including physiological arousal, feelings, cognitive processes, and behavioral reactions,
made in response to a situation perceived to be personally significant (APA, n.d.).
BACKGROUND: MEMORY COMPONENT A key piece of the odor emotion relationship comes
from the ability to remember odors over time. Odor and memory have been studied at great extent and
tends to overshadow the

Libertarian Theory Of Justice In Health Care
Arguing whether health care should be basic human rights comes down to the question of what is just.
Distributive justice justice regarding the fair distribution of society s advantages and disadvantages
and more will help the debate. There are different views to this question, including libertarian theories
of justice, utilitarian theories of justice, and egalitarian theories of justice. There are also Kantian view
and human rights view. Libertarian theories of justice states that the benefits and burdens of society
should be distributed through the fair workings of a free market. In this view, the role of the
government is to protect the rights of individuals to freely pursue their own interests in the economic
marketplace without violations of their liberty through coercion, manipulation, or fraud. Government
may use coercion, but only to preserve liberty. Beyond these protections, the government has no
obligation to adjust the distribution of benefits and burdens among ... Show more content on

With utilitarian theories of justice, what is just would depend on the situation and thus impact what
kind of health care is provided to people. This means that depending on the calculations of what
would yield the most beneficial result, the government may implement a universal health care
insurance, or a qualified right to health care, or a two tier plan, etc. Egalitarian theories of justice,
similar to Kantian ethics, state that important benefits and burdens of society should be distributed
equally. Egalitarian view would distribute benefits equally, not judged by the workings of a free
market, nor is the utility of the society be the most important factor. Human rights approach state that
broader entitlements, such as fair treatment for all, freedom from coercion, nondiscrimination, etc, can
insure the just distributions of health

Organ Shortage
Within the past few years, the demand for organs has increased at an alarming rate. This is due mostly
to the fact that diseases and illnesses are becoming more prevalent and are brought on due to a
significant change in American lifestyles. Failing organs can be caused by certain ways of living such
as being a smoker or becoming obese. Many people are in need of a vital organ or know someone who
needs an organ; these people are greatly impacted by a decision involving organ donation. Vital
organs, such as the brain, heart, kidneys, lungs, and liver are involved, which means these people are
in life and death situations. While organ transplants have created a way to give and receive life to
others, the process has actually become controversial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Different countries have different systems to organize organ donation. These systems are known as
either opt out or opt in . The United States is currently under an opt in system which basically means
that we assume that everyone does not wish to become an organ donor, unless is it made clear in their
lifetime. An opt out system is one in which we assume that everyone wishes to become an organ donor
after death, otherwise made explicitly known during lifetime. It is proposed that the solution to the
organ shortage crisis in the United states is to adopt the opt out system. This system makes more sense
because if a person is so passionate about not being a donor, they will voice that while they are living.
Our current system does not encourage people to actually take the time to make a decision about being
an organ donor or not. Instead, the system we currently have allows people to stay uninformed about
decisions that could in the end give someone else a shot at living their life. An article written in the
European Journal of Health Law talks about the bill of 2009 that allows presumed consent for organ
donation in European countries. Lisa Cherkassky, Lecturer in Law, includes specifics details written in
the bill such as, if a person during their lifetime has not registered to an objection to his body that after
death, it will be presumed that he [has] consented to such a donation. In the US, we currently must
register to donate, with a system like this, it would be the opposite (registering to not donate).
Cherkassky also includes how the bill seeks to protect people as well when it comes to death, she says
unless two registered medical practitioners have satisfied themselves that the person is dead, no organs
will be allowed to be removed. Adopting a bill with a policy of protection

Essay On The Middle Ages
England in the Middle Ages
The Middle Ages represents a periodization of European history which took place from the 5th
century to the 15th century; this age was also know as Dark Ages because of the complexity of the
period and lack of written documentation and archeological evidence. The Middle Ages was a time of
tremendous historical, social and linguistic changes.
Great Britain during the Middle Ages (from the 5th century withdraw of Roman forces from the
province of Britannia and the Germanic invasions, until the Early modern period) was divided into a
number of independent kingdoms; by the High Middle Ages, after the end of the Viking Age and the
Normal Conquest, the kingdoms of England and Scotland came forth as the main poles of political
power. The medieval period on England can be dated from the arrival in Kent of Anglo Saxon troops
led by the legendary Hengest and Horsa. Subsequently the Brythonic, Celtic powers were conquered
by Jutes, Angles and Saxons Germanic tribes, from the contemporary Angeln and Jutland areas of
northern Germany and mainland Denmark. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From a political point of view, the Norman Conquest of England divides medieval Britain in two

with Middle English. At the height of pre Norman medieval English power, a single English king

Cultural Similarities Between India And India
Cultural Similarities and Differences between China and India Introduction
There is a great deal more in like manner between the two nations socially, than say, between a
Chinese (or Indian) and an American or European. A snag might be the dialect. Numerous Chinese
from Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong visiting India communicates in English and feel good in
their relations with Indian individuals. Indian individuals are insightful, persevering and family
situated, same as the Chinese (Moran 345). They are likewise extraordinarily otherworldly and
demonstrate resilience and regard for other individuals religions and convictions. In Hong Kong, by
far most of Indians communicate in Cantonese. They are fruitful in what they do and fit into the group
consistently.
Cultural Similarities
Moreover, as neighbors for a long time, a great deal of culture has been shared and exchanged
between the two. In that capacity, the way of life is fundamentally the same as from various
perspectives. One could compose a book on this theme (Moran 345). It is just a small attempt to give
you an insight of how similar are these two countries. Indian and Chinese culture contingent on four
social variables which are: Cooking, Celebrations, Conventional Dress and Customary Music.

My Hero Is A Hero
What Makes My Hero a Hero
The word hero is a small word with a big meaning. A hero is someone who is admired or idealized for
courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. Depending on who your hero is, and what they

his characteristics are: courage, bravery, and selflessness. He is brave because he sacrificed his life to
fight for our country. He rejoined the military when he did not have to, just to be able to serve his

My Uncle Clint has always been someone that has been there for me and loved me. In my eyes he
would be a hero to me even if he did not go into the military. Him joining in the military, and rejoining
a second time showed that he did not give up. It showed that, that is something he put his mind to and

What surprises me is how many people look up to him, for example, his son. Wesley wants to join and

things: Rubik s Cubes, Wrestling, Pac Man, Lip Smackers, Nintendo, skateboarding, roller skating,
Horror films, the BratPack, connect four, Tupperware parties, pop rocks, Weird Al Yankovic, who s
currently making a comeback FYI... and the list goes on! Horror films made their way onto the scene
in the 80s with thousands flocking to movie theatres to see the latest scary flick. The 80 s are to thank
for some of the popular fashion trends we still see today: RayBans, Doc Martens, bright colours and
denim jackets, but while some of the fashion trends found in the 80s soared, others, like leg warmers,
spandex, shoulder pads, parachute pants, mullets, perms, sweaters around the waist, big hair bows, all
definitely proved that with the good always comes the bad. This was a decade full of new and
advancing technology: out with the old and in with the new! The 80s said goodbye to cassette tapes
and boom boxes and hello to compact discs and Sony Walkman s, taking the first step in redefining
the music industry. Ladies and Gentlemen, Rock and Roll, these were the first words uttered on what

below: 1) Around 90% of the heat from the spirit lamp did not reach the base of the tripod stand itself.
This was the main reason of error. Heat was lost very easily. A lot of heat was lost in this manner and
contributed to a lower than expected temperature change in the water. This was undoubtedly, the main
source of experimental error. 2) Although, the copper calorimeter was properly insulated, heat loss
was prevalent. The lid had a hole to allow the thermometer to be placed inside. This meant heat could
be lost in this manner as well. 3) The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is the sign of the incomplete combustion of alcohols. As a result, carbon monoxide is formed
instead of carbon dioxide. Therefore, this incomplete combustion results in low standard enthalpy of
combustion values as the reaction is not complete. 5) During calculations, the specific heat capacity of
the copper calorimeter was not included. This is wrong. The copper beaker did absorb some heat from
the spirit lamp. This should have been added onto the heat energy absorbed by the water. Due its
absence, a lot of heat was absorbed through the copper calorimeter itself, and this was not calibrated.
These sources of error could have been prevented at the first place. The random errors can be
prevented in that manner. However, the systematic errors need to be corrected as well. Therefore, the
method of the experiment can be evaluated further. 1) This experiment could have been carried out at
a place of constant temperature. 2) The calorimeter could have been insulated more. A thick cotton
wool could have been added. 3) The presence of draught shields would have helped reduce heat loss.
4) Use a digital thermometer to improve the accuracy of

Crime In Victorian London
Ethnicity and Perception of Criminality in Victorian London
Victorian London at the time of Jack the Ripper s activity in 1881 contained several neighborhoods
that were considered hotbeds of crime specifically London s East End. This included Whitechapel, the
site of Jack the Ripper s murders. What is interesting about these neighborhoods is their high rate of
immigrants, from Jews to the Irish. These foreigners contributed to a perception of these
neighborhoods as crime ridden slums, ghettos where no self respecting Englishman or woman would
find themselves. In this paper, I would like to more thoroughly examine the role ethnicity had in the
perception of these poor neighborhoods, and how ethnicity played into the question of crime in

They also largely lived in the immigrant heavy slums of London.. After pogroms in the late nineteenth
century Russian Empire, large numbers of Jews moved westward to escape persecution, with one of
the largest waves occurring in 1882. This influx led some British people and the British press to
accuse the Jews of swamping the city, overwhelming its charitable organizations and spreading
communicable diseases such as influenza. This attitude reflects the common racist attitude that non
Anglo people were somehow dirty, and stole services from the British the rightful users of public
assistance. In some newspapers, like the Pall Mall Gazette, this immigration was described as an
invasion of Russian Jews, emphasis mine. Unlike the Irish, however, the Jewish immigrants residing
in London and England as a whole were accused of bankrolling the government in order to hide their
numerous crimes; this was claimed by the British Brother s League, a quasi fascist group that
organized against immigrants. This put them in a position of imagined power, something that the Irish
did not have in the popular British imagination. This was possibly due to the fact that Jewish
immigrants largely occupied skill based work they practiced in their home countries once they arrived
in London, leading them to amass more money than the Irish, who remained in low skilled, low
paying jobs. In fact, the Daily News ran a feature on the

Innovation Management
If you ever become a marketer, then your friend in the company should be the accountant
These were the words of advise given to me by my Marketing professor at Red McCombs School of
Business in University of Texas, Austin. I recall this statement every time I think of costs involved in
new product development or in every marketing endeavor I undertake.
The above words also applies to all persons leading an Innovation projects: Be it new product
development, process improvement or research.
In the world of innovation, accountants their contribution are one of the least appreciated. A
success/failure of an innovation project is credited to the project manager or product manager or the
development manager, but rarely the name of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When developing a plan for an innovation project, it is best to sit with an accountant and comeup with
a financial plan. Gather the financial information that determines the viability of the project, at what
levels of expenditure the projects become unviable, develop a plan to monitor the project expenses
and constantly review the viability of the project. To do all this, you have to work with the accountant
as a partner in progress.
Also remember this: Money speaks louder than ideas!
So if your idea is backed by the accountant, then people will listen to you.
Track all your Costs
Once a project is approved, then managers need to keep a close tab on the costs of the project. But that
s in an ideal world.
Reality in most organizations is that product/development managers have little clue of what their
current costs are, what their total costs is, and how much more money will they need to complete the
project. I have spoken to several development managers in several fortune 500 companies, and they
don t know their numbers, instead they will talk about the time frame of the project, head count etc.,
but not the numbers because they do not know the numbers and nobody in the organization will ever
tell them.
Smaller companies tend to do better. Managers in smaller companies know the costs and therefore can
take better and faster decisions.
Understanding all the costs is a

A Moment Of Clarity Was When Hailey
A moment of clarity was when Hailey was self assessing herself. Hailey realized that she is unsure
what to do to help herself when she comes to unknown term or phrase. She needs strategies put in
place to help her take ownership of her own learning and comprehension. When she is confused or
unsure, she needs to stop reading through the text. She needs to learn to stop and ask herself questions
when she does not understand. Hailey has some bad habits in place that need to be corrected. It is
important that Hailey is getting herself ready to be a reader even before she begins an assignment. She
needs to prepare herself before she reads and stop and think about what the purpose of the assignment

Once she has those words complied, she can look them up to find their meanings. She can Google the
meanings, use Math is Fun (Piece, 2017) for illustrated math vocabulary words, Spelling City
(Vocaulary Spelling City, 2017) which can be used for vocabulary for all subject areas, or she can
check a textbook glossary for possible definitions. In addition, Hailey can write the definition of the
word, but also give a concrete example of the words meaning. Once she has her word list set with the
definitions and meanings, she then can prepare her mind to be ready to read the passage. Although
scanning a text before reading may not always be possible, she can also make a list, circle or highlight
the unknown words as she is reading.
Hailey also needs to be taught to remember that coming to an unknown word; she may need to read
after the word to have a better understanding of the meaning searching for context clues. She needs to
use the context clues within the passage. Once she has read ahead, she needs to be encouraged to go
back and reread the sentence that she had just read to help her have a better understanding. She needs
to get out of the habit of just continuing to read the rest of the passage. Also, to help her
comprehension Hailey needs to be taught how to read any questions that are asked at the end of a
passage before she begins reading the passage. That way her mind is ready and already knows the
information that she is

Evolution Of Science Classes At School
Being raised in a Christian family, I have attended Catholic school my whole life. That being said, I
have grown up studying Bible stories since before I can remember. Probably the most prominent and
well known of these stories in Christian theology is, of course, the story of creation. To this day, I still
remember how the story goes. On the first day, God created the earth and daylight. For six days after,
he continued creation and included the sky, the ocean, plants, animals, and humans. Growing up, I
always believed in a literal interpretation of this story, and thought everything was created within an
exact week. However, as I got older, I learned about evolution in science classes at school. I soon
discovered that many of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While a large number of people in the scientific field strongly believe in evolution, a group of people
known as creationists and creation scientists seem to disagree. Creationism is the belief that the
biblical record of primeval history in Genesis 1 11 is factual, historical, and clearly understandable
and, therefore, that all things were created and made in six literal days (Morris). Creationists believe
evolution completely contradicts with their religious beliefs; therefore, they do not agree with it.
Creation science is a branch of creationism that focuses on providing scientific reasoning behind
creationism. Creation scientist Jack Wellman describes evolution saying it presents a world view
without God and that there is only survival of the fittest and that there is no real purpose for mankind.
In between evolutionists and creationists falls theistic evolutionists, who believe in both creation by
God and evolution. Since these people interpret the Bible in a metaphoric sense rather than literal,
they believe that religious teachings about creation do not conflict with evolutionary concepts.
For the most part, evolutionists and theistic evolutionists, aka people who believe in evolution, all
seem to agree that evolution should be taught in US public schools. Interestingly enough, I have not
yet found someone who is pro evolution and does not think it should be discussed in the classroom.
However, there are creation scientists who think

LEGISLATIVE PROCESS Jill Golinski Ohio Univeristy Professional Nursing Practice 4510 Kristen
Morgan September 03, 2015 LEGISLATIVE PROCESS The United States government federal, state,
and local plays a significant role in developing and delivering health care policies. Today s issues
associated with health policy stem from individual health, the overall health of the country, and
economic problems associated with health care (Rosenbaum, 2011). Being a nurse it is important to
understand the legislative process, and how political health issues affect how we care for patients. The
purpose of this paper is to discuss the legislative process, and current political issues affecting health
care today. Part 1 Legislative Process The legislative process starts first with an idea. This idea might
be from the public, or from government officials. This idea is then turned into a bill, and introduced by
a representative to a committee for review. The bill is given a number and is referred to the
appropriate committee. If the committee decides the bill should go on further in the process then it
continues to a hearing to be voted on, debated or amended. At any point the bill can be killed, and is
no longer up for review. If the bill should pass it is then brought to the House or Senate for further
review. The bill must be voted by the simple majority (218 of 435) , and if this occurs it is moved onto
the Senate. In the Senate, the bill is assigned to another committee and,

Describe The Characteristics Of A Child Temperament
Children who are rarely spoken to, who are left to cry without parent interacts has little opportunity to
explore their environment. Also, children who experience frequent anger or boredom cannot fully
develop their potential and stable personalities, despite their genetics, improvements from parent,
interactions promote the health and development of vulnerable children. Not all children s
temperaments fall into the categories that are described. Children who share the same temperament
trait might react quite differently in similar situations, or throughout different stages in their
development. An example, of this is when children see someone they are not familiar with their
reactions to their temperament will allow them to show their feelings and identify their temperament.
When you understand your own temperament, traits help you understand the child s perspective. This
reflective process can help you become more attuned to the experience of each child This will help
you determine what might be needed to create a better fit for each child. When talking about a child,
you must ask the parents to help you understand their child s activity level, and how their child
response to new situations, and their child s persistence, distractibility, adaptability, mood, intensity,
sensitivity so that you can learn about their child s temperament and the family s cultural. It is
important to listen to how the family feels about the temperament characteristics of their child.
Therefore, it is important to understand that although a child s basic temperament does not change
over time, the intensity of temperamental trait can be affected by a family s cultural values and
parenting styles. For example, a family that values persistence the ability to stick to a task and keep
trying may be more likely to praise and reward a child for sticking with a challenging task as building
a tower with Lego s.
I cannot judge a child s temperament traits as good or bad. I need to work with parents to understand
their child s approach and understand the contribution each child s temperament type makes to the
group. My brother was an active child and would always lead me and my sister around, he was a
leader, and would always be the

The Use and Abuse of Power by the Female Protagonists in...
Miss Julie by Strindberg and Medea by Euripides explore the theme of power struggle. Julie, the
Count s daughter, was raised by a mother who hated men; Strindberg hence presents a confused
character who struggles with her sexual desire for men juxtaposing with her need to dominate them.
She feels compelled to use her social status when dealing with Jean. Medea, on the other hand, is
presented as a brave, unpredictable, almost barbaric woman of extremes; she has committed several
crimes on her husband s behalf. Medea is constantly associated with images of extreme passion be it
love, hatred or rage, and it is through the expression of these extremes that the audience becomes
familiar with her persona. When she learns of her husband s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This fluctuation of her need for and rejection of Jean may be indicative of insecurity and loss resulting
from her traumatic upbringing and again, having been rejected by one of her social class; this could
account for her need to regain power.
Medea s irrational behaviour is also due to her loss of power and control caused by her husband,
Jason, who abandoned her and married Glauce, princess of Corinth. The Nurse explains this in her
opening speech; Medea rages at her loss of honour [6]. Medea declares that Jason s betrayal comes at
the expense of her social status, home, dignity, and security; she claims to be alone...stateless,
dishonored by (my) husband [7]Medea s fury knows no limit as evidenced when she mentions, Cursed
boys, I wish you dead, your father too 3 in line 103; she is determined to seek revenge whatever the
cost, and revenge is the murder her and Jason s sons. Because they are precious to Jason, she will
deprive him of them and resultantly destroy and triumph over him. She has all the means to carry out
her hideous crime with such deadly poisons [8]. Medea despises Jason s ingratitude that seems to have
forgotten that she murdered her brother and was involved in the murder of Pelias for Jason s benefit.

  • 2. Foucault Sex And Power Essay Foucault states, We must at the same time conceive of sex without the law and power without the king (81). Foucault argues that sex and power must not be viewed as something that is only controlled by the law but rather as multidimensional with various forms that do not manifest themselves solely in coercion. Foucault s suggests that power is unacquired, not external but within internal structures, non binary, intentional and non subjective, and exists simultaneously with resistance. First, Foucault suggests that power is not a thing that an individual can or cannot have but can be exercised from various angles in any relation. Foucault states, Power is not something that is acquired, seized, or shared, something that one holds on to or allows to slip away (94). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Similarly, like power, nature is not one thing we can point to or acquire. Individuals can point to mountains and lakes but must recognize that nature itself is more abstract. As like power, nature suggests a compelling relationship between individuals and the earth which indicates how it constantly changes. Secondly, Foucault suggests that power is not external to the relationships it works upon, but determines their internal structure, insinuating that power operates within institutions. Foucault states, Relations of power are not in a position of exteriority with respect to other types of relationship (economic, knowledge relationships, sexual relations), but are immanent in the latter (94). In other words, power should be evaluated within and in relation to economics, sexuality, knowledge relationships, etc. Power should be identified within these structures because the relationships and connections that are formed within these structures determine and produce what power looks and feels like. Furthermore, nature is not something that solely exists externally but as something that works within itself. As like power, nature should be thought of as a changing process ... The walls hold much significance and stories dating back to the beginning of established religion. Sir Christopher Wren s design of St. Paul s Cathedral, is not only the largest cathedral in England, but one of the most significant stylistically architectural combinations into English Architecture. After the Great Fire, parts of the remains of Old St Paul s were patched up as a temporary cathedral. The structure, however, was in a very bad shape, and in May 1668, after a fall of the remains of the building materials fell; Wren was asked to submit proposals for a new cathedral. Wren s first proposal, The First Model , was quickly neglected, because it was said to be too modest. His second proposal was a mimic of the Greek cross. It was a classical style of the Italian Renaissance, it was centrally planned, and the main interior space was set beneath an enormous dome, and auxiliary spaces were located around the sides. But the clergy, who were only familiar with cathedrals whose designs, were Romanesque or Gothic, and were not familiar to classical architecture in his design, quickly through out the new design. His third design, The Warrant Design , was still classical architecture, but it was based on the criticisms of the Greek cross design. The plan was longitudinal, the nave and choir were bordered by lower aisles, and the towers and spire suggested the shape of medieval England. In the 1960s, the United States was experiencing the balance of payment problem when its trade balance was in a substantial deficit, the US dollar was under an attack and a massive amount of gold flew out of its official reserve. Such issues in the balance of payment if exist for a long time can be a threat to the whole economy because balance of payment closely interacts with key macroeconomic variables such as GDP, exchange rates, interest rates and inflation rates. The third option to solve balance of payment problem was to impose trade barriers and capital control. On one hand, this would help to restrict import and capital outflow, thereby recover the trade deficit. On the other hand, this policy was contrary to U.S. effort to liberalize the world trade. Economic growth of the U.S and its allies would also be affected. All three options directly address problem of the current accounts and financial and capital accounts. While deflation and capital control can remedy both current account and financial and capital accounts, devaluation only has immediate impacts on the current account. (Figure 1 bellow illustrates direct impacts of each option to these accounts.) However, as exchange rates, interest rates, economic growth and balance of payments are interacted, when one components of the balance of payment improves, the other accounts will also recover. For example, when import demand increases, demand for the dollar also increases, and therefore can prevent the outflow of gold from official reserve. That being said, all three options can solve U.S balance of payment problem; however, there must be cost incurred that Kennedy government have to consider. But if you look closely into the tale, you will begin to see that it shows a scary resemblance to a topic far more mature than what is visible from a glance; the seven deadly sins. While it is not the first thing that comes to mind when the sins are brought up, gluttony is a huge aspect of our society, referring to the overconsumption of goods and resources to the point of waste. Society today literally runs off of gluttony, where people on a daily basis are always after more, no matter how much they already have. This ties into greed on some levels, but it differs in that when people are gluttonous, they crave so much that things are being wasted or taken away from those who don t have much. It is almost ironic to think that as much as we encourage giving to local food banks or volunteering at soup kitchens, we are so gluttonous and waste so much food everyday that could go to other people who have nothing and are dying of starvation. Gluttony is extremely present in the film, specifically Augustus Gloop, who practically eats his feelings. In almost all of the clips we see of him, his is shoving down sweets, particularly the scene in the film where he falls into the chocolate river after trying to drink from it. Alternatively, Violet Beauregard can be seen as the best fit character for gluttony, shown when she steals the gum from Mr. Wonka, despite him telling her not to. But there are undoubtedly more examples that show just how gluttonous Augustus is, and he is a better representation of the sin than any other character in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. The Music Of Music And Music Ludwig van Beethoven was beaten every day by his father. This was so Ludwig could become a prodigy just like Mozart. His father would deprive him of sleep so that Ludwig could get some extra rehearsal time. This man caused Beethoven to become a genius in music performance and composition. Imagine if he wasn t made to learn about music. Since he is one of the greatest influential composers in music, his knowledge wouldn t have been passed down through the generations. Students shouldn t be forced to learn about music like Beethoven was, but they can choose to love it on their own. They can only get this opportunity if music programs are added to part of their education. When music education classes are added to the curriculum, the children benefit immensely. Music education only began a couple hundred years ago. It was started after Reverend Thomas Symmes ministered at a church which then became the first American school dedicated solely to singing (Stanford). The school s main purpose was to teach the children how to read music for religious celebrations. Over a hundred years later, the Boston Academy of Music was established. One of the founders wrote the Manual of Instruction, which is a published book used for teaching music education. Eventually this author, Lowell Mason, was allowed to instruct music education at the Hawes School since the book became so successful. After many years music was officially constructed into Boston s school curriculum. Since then music ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. Short Story Of A Pumpkin Have you ever had a situation where you think telling the truth will get you in trouble, however lying or not saying anything would possibly make the situation worse? Then you re faced with the decision of telling the truth, or keeping quiet and awaiting the results. This is the story of how I learned to always be honest. It was a snowy, January afternoon several years ago when my brother and I were playing in the snow at my grandparent s house. I was digging in a massive mountain of snow. Then I reached my hand back into it to pull the pumpkin out, and it just pushed the pumpkin farther back into the pipe. The stubborn pumpkin wouldn t come out! I panicked for what seemed like an eternity, thinking about what kinds of punishments I would receive if someone found out. But if nobody found out, I wouldn t have to face any punishments. So, I decided that I wouldn t tell anyone about what had just happened. After it got dark I met back up with my brother who was over by the big hill in the back of the yard. We walked back over to the house talking about the forts that we made and how many snowballs we were getting ready. Then he asked, Did you find any pumpkins in the snow? Her intention to write her statement was to have both evangelicals and non evangelicals dialogue in the TESOL field. She mentioned that post positivist scholars are tired of being stereotyped. On the other hand, believers feel rejected because they have pawned their attitudes and values to one way. Canagarajah offered on her statement what other authors did not. • 30. Smell And Odor And Emotion INTRODUCTION Often, one of the most overlooked of the five senses is the ability to smell. Living things use it every day from figuring out what the best scent is to eat the most delicious food to figuring out what perfume makes us the happiest (and potentially, the most attractive to others). However, smell is more than just the stench someone gives off. In fact, odor can trigger a variety of emotions. To begin the discussion on the relationship between odor and emotion, one must define what an odor is. More than just a sense, smell consists of molecules that recognized by olfactory receptors and must have a specific concentration (Yantis, 2014). With much research, a relationship between memory and odor has existed and has led to broader findings about odor and other components. According to a 2009 study, a relationship between odor and mood exists (Croy et al., 2011). However, research done regarding odor and emotion is a fairly recent interest and has gained more attention over the last few years. According to the American Psychological Association, an emotion is a complex pattern of changes, including physiological arousal, feelings, cognitive processes, and behavioral reactions, made in response to a situation perceived to be personally significant (APA, n.d.). BACKGROUND: MEMORY COMPONENT A key piece of the odor emotion relationship comes from the ability to remember odors over time. There are also Kantian view and human rights view. Libertarian theories of justice states that the benefits and burdens of society should be distributed through the fair workings of a free market. In this view, the role of the government is to protect the rights of individuals to freely pursue their own interests in the economic marketplace without violations of their liberty through coercion, manipulation, or fraud. Egalitarian view would distribute benefits equally, not judged by the workings of a free market, nor is the utility of the society be the most important factor. This is due mostly to the fact that diseases and illnesses are becoming more prevalent and are brought on due to a significant change in American lifestyles. Many people are in need of a vital organ or know someone who needs an organ; these people are greatly impacted by a decision involving organ donation. Different countries have different systems to organize organ donation. These systems are known as either opt out or opt in . The United States is currently under an opt in system which basically means that we assume that everyone does not wish to become an organ donor, unless is it made clear in their lifetime. An opt out system is one in which we assume that everyone wishes to become an organ donor after death, otherwise made explicitly known during lifetime. It is proposed that the solution to the organ shortage crisis in the United states is to adopt the opt out system. This system makes more sense because if a person is so passionate about not being a donor, they will voice that while they are living. Our current system does not encourage people to actually take the time to make a decision about being an organ donor or not. Instead, the system we currently have allows people to stay uninformed about decisions that could in the end give someone else a shot at living their life. An article written in the European Journal of Health Law talks about the bill of 2009 that allows presumed consent for organ donation in European countries. Lisa Cherkassky, Lecturer in Law, includes specifics details written in the bill such as, if a person during their lifetime has not registered to an objection to his body that after death, it will be presumed that he [has] consented to such a donation. In the US, we currently must register to donate, with a system like this, it would be the opposite (registering to not donate). Essay On The Middle Ages England in the Middle Ages The Middle Ages represents a periodization of European history which took place from the 5th century to the 15th century; this age was also know as Dark Ages because of the complexity of the period and lack of written documentation and archeological evidence. The Middle Ages was a time of tremendous historical, social and linguistic changes. Great Britain during the Middle Ages (from the 5th century withdraw of Roman forces from the province of Britannia and the Germanic invasions, until the Early modern period) was divided into a number of independent kingdoms; by the High Middle Ages, after the end of the Viking Age and the Normal Conquest, the kingdoms of England and Scotland came forth as the main poles of political power. The medieval period on England can be dated from the arrival in Kent of Anglo Saxon troops led by the legendary Hengest and Horsa. However, this magnitude of error does have its sources. Some of the sources are given below: 1) Around 90% of the heat from the spirit lamp did not reach the base of the tripod stand itself. This was the main reason of error. Heat was lost very easily. A lot of heat was lost in this manner and contributed to a lower than expected temperature change in the water. This was undoubtedly, the main source of experimental error. 2) Although, the copper calorimeter was properly insulated, heat loss was prevalent. This is wrong. The copper beaker did absorb some heat from the spirit lamp. This should have been added onto the heat energy absorbed by the water. Due its absence, a lot of heat was absorbed through the copper calorimeter itself, and this was not calibrated. These sources of error could have been prevented at the first place. The random errors can be prevented in that manner. However, the systematic errors need to be corrected as well. Therefore, the method of the experiment can be evaluated further. 1) This experiment could have been carried out at a place of constant temperature. 2) The calorimeter could have been insulated more. This attitude reflects the common racist attitude that non Anglo people were somehow dirty, and stole services from the British the rightful users of public assistance. In some newspapers, like the Pall Mall Gazette, this immigration was described as an invasion of Russian Jews, emphasis mine. Unlike the Irish, however, the Jewish immigrants residing in London and England as a whole were accused of bankrolling the government in order to hide their numerous crimes; this was claimed by the British Brother s League, a quasi fascist group that organized against immigrants. This put them in a position of imagined power, something that the Irish did not have in the popular British imagination. Once she has those words complied, she can look them up to find their meanings. She can Google the meanings, use Math is Fun (Piece, 2017) for illustrated math vocabulary words, Spelling City (Vocaulary Spelling City, 2017) which can be used for vocabulary for all subject areas, or she can check a textbook glossary for possible definitions. In addition, Hailey can write the definition of the word, but also give a concrete example of the words meaning. Once she has her word list set with the definitions and meanings, she then can prepare her mind to be ready to read the passage. Although scanning a text before reading may not always be possible, she can also make a list, circle or highlight the unknown words as she is reading. Hailey also needs to be taught to remember that coming to an unknown word; she may need to read after the word to have a better understanding of the meaning searching for context clues. She needs to use the context clues within the passage. Once she has read ahead, she needs to be encouraged to go back and reread the sentence that she had just read to help her have a better understanding. She needs to get out of the habit of just continuing to read the rest of the passage. Also, to help her comprehension Hailey needs to be taught how to read any questions that are asked at the end of a passage before she begins reading the passage. That way her mind is ready and already knows the information that she is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. Evolution Of Science Classes At School Being raised in a Christian family, I have attended Catholic school my whole life. That being said, I have grown up studying Bible stories since before I can remember. Probably the most prominent and well known of these stories in Christian theology is, of course, the story of creation. To this day, I still remember how the story goes. On the first day, God created the earth and daylight. For six days after, he continued creation and included the sky, the ocean, plants, animals, and humans. Growing up, I always believed in a literal interpretation of this story, and thought everything was created within an exact week. However, as I got older, I learned about evolution in science classes at school. I soon discovered that many of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While a large number of people in the scientific field strongly believe in evolution, a group of people known as creationists and creation scientists seem to disagree. Creationism is the belief that the biblical record of primeval history in Genesis 1 11 is factual, historical, and clearly understandable and, therefore, that all things were created and made in six literal days (Morris). Creationists believe evolution completely contradicts with their religious beliefs; therefore, they do not agree with it. Creation science is a branch of creationism that focuses on providing scientific reasoning behind creationism. Creation scientist Jack Wellman describes evolution saying it presents a world view without God and that there is only survival of the fittest and that there is no real purpose for mankind. In between evolutionists and creationists falls theistic evolutionists, who believe in both creation by God and evolution. Since these people interpret the Bible in a metaphoric sense rather than literal, they believe that religious teachings about creation do not conflict with evolutionary concepts. For the most part, evolutionists and theistic evolutionists, aka people who believe in evolution, all seem to agree that evolution should be taught in US public schools. Interestingly enough, I have not yet found someone who is pro evolution and does not think it should be discussed in the classroom. However, there are creation scientists who think ... LEGISLATIVE PROCESS Jill Golinski Ohio Univeristy Professional Nursing Practice 4510 Kristen Morgan September 03, 2015 LEGISLATIVE PROCESS The United States government federal, state, and local plays a significant role in developing and delivering health care policies. Today s issues associated with health policy stem from individual health, the overall health of the country, and economic problems associated with health care (Rosenbaum, 2011). Being a nurse it is important to understand the legislative process, and how political health issues affect how we care for patients. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the legislative process, and current political issues affecting health care today. Part 1 Legislative Process The legislative process starts first with an idea. This idea might be from the public, or from government officials. This idea is then turned into a bill, and introduced by a representative to a committee for review. The bill is given a number and is referred to the appropriate committee. If the committee decides the bill should go on further in the process then it continues to a hearing to be voted on, debated or amended. At any point the bill can be killed, and is no longer up for review. If the bill should pass it is then brought to the House or Senate for further review. The bill must be voted by the simple majority (218 of 435) , and if this occurs it is moved onto the Senate. In the Senate, the bill is assigned to another committee and, ... • 47. Describe The Characteristics Of A Child Temperament Children who are rarely spoken to, who are left to cry without parent interacts has little opportunity to explore their environment. Also, children who experience frequent anger or boredom cannot fully develop their potential and stable personalities, despite their genetics, improvements from parent, interactions promote the health and development of vulnerable children. Not all children s temperaments fall into the categories that are described. Children who share the same temperament trait might react quite differently in similar situations, or throughout different stages in their development. An example, of this is when children see someone they are not familiar with their reactions to their temperament will allow them to show their feelings and identify their temperament. When you understand your own temperament, traits help you understand the child s perspective. This reflective process can help you become more attuned to the experience of each child This will help you determine what might be needed to create a better fit for each child. When talking about a child, you must ask the parents to help you understand their child s activity level, and how their child response to new situations, and their child s persistence, distractibility, adaptability, mood, intensity, sensitivity so that you can learn about their child s temperament and the family s cultural. It is important to listen to how the family feels about the temperament characteristics of their child. Therefore, it is important to understand that although a child s basic temperament does not change over time, the intensity of temperamental trait can be affected by a family s cultural values and parenting styles. For example, a family that values persistence the ability to stick to a task and keep trying may be more likely to praise and reward a child for sticking with a challenging task as building a tower with Lego s. I cannot judge a child s temperament traits as good or bad. I need to work with parents to understand their child s approach and understand the contribution each child s temperament type makes to the group. My brother was an active child and would always lead me and my sister around, he was a leader, and would always be the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. The Use and Abuse of Power by the Female Protagonists in... Miss Julie by Strindberg and Medea by Euripides explore the theme of power struggle. Julie, the Count s daughter, was raised by a mother who hated men; Strindberg hence presents a confused character who struggles with her sexual desire for men juxtaposing with her need to dominate them. She feels compelled to use her social status when dealing with Jean. Medea, on the other hand, is presented as a brave, unpredictable, almost barbaric woman of extremes; she has committed several crimes on her husband s behalf. Medea is constantly associated with images of extreme passion be it love, hatred or rage, and it is through the expression of these extremes that the audience becomes familiar with her persona. When she learns of her husband s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This fluctuation of her need for and rejection of Jean may be indicative of insecurity and loss resulting from her traumatic upbringing and again, having been rejected by one of her social class; this could account for her need to regain power. Medea s irrational behaviour is also due to her loss of power and control caused by her husband, Jason, who abandoned her and married Glauce, princess of Corinth. The Nurse explains this in her opening speech; Medea rages at her loss of honour [6]. Medea declares that Jason s betrayal comes at the expense of her social status, home, dignity, and security; she claims to be alone...stateless, dishonored by (my) husband [7]Medea s fury knows no limit as evidenced when she mentions, Cursed boys, I wish you dead, your father too 3 in line 103; she is determined to seek revenge whatever the cost, and revenge is the murder her and Jason s sons. Because they are precious to Jason, she will deprive him of them and resultantly destroy and triumph over him. She has all the means to carry out her hideous crime with such deadly poisons [8]. Medea despises Jason s ingratitude that seems to have forgotten that she murdered her brother and was involved in the murder of Pelias for Jason s benefit. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
