The Significance of William Pitt in Reforming the British...
The Significance of William Pitt in Reforming the British Parliamentary System
Successive Kings of England, George I (1714 1727) and George II (1727 60), both proved highly
disinterested in the political aspects of their country. As a result of this disinterest, each in turn had to
leave national ruling to the Government. Subsequently, in 1716 the Septennial Act was passed, which
extended the life of parliament from 3 to 7 years. This provided for an unprecedented period of
parliament stability, and ultimately limited the powers of the king. (Barnett, 2002 p654). Political
power had now shifted from the king to his chosen first minister. Parliament at this time could not be

However, they were patiently awaiting their position as minister in the House of Lords. It is in the
House of Lords they would have most power. House of Commons members had no social
responsibility at this time. The running of Government was very corrupt and members were not
concerned about keeping their seats as they inherited their positions. The use of sinecures is at an all
time high and a mere 4% of the population had the right to vote. The Monarchy had indirect power
and was able to use taxes and funding to achieve beneficial results in Parliament that suited their own
interests.
William Pitt was raised in a highly politically aware family. His father William, who was the First Earl
of Chatham (1766) |took great interest and William junior was sent to Cambridge for his university
education. The Earl of Chatham was determined that his son would eventually become a member of
the House of Commons and at an early age, William was given lessons on how to become an effective
orator (Sparticus, 2005 Pg1). At Cambridge, William Pitt studied political philosophy among other
subjects. At university, Pitt worked hard and showed a reserved, aloof and self controlled character
(Biography of William Pitt, 2005 p1). Pitt suffered with gout and this combined with an antiquated
privilege that allowed noblemen s sons to graduate without examination, meant that Pitt was able to

Leaching Of Human Exposure (BPA)
Human exposure can occur through multiple routes, however oral exposure is the major route of
exposure to BPA, thus, oral exposure occurs because of the leaching of BPA from polycarbonate
containers and from the plastic lining of cans (Chris et al., 2009). Furthermore, BPA is also detected in
indoor air primarily associated with dust, which indicates exposure can occur through inhalation
(Taylor, 2008). Exposure to BPA in humans received dramatic attention when it was detected in
serum, follicular and amniotic fluids, fetal serum, milk of nursing mothers, and in the urine (Gould et
al., 1998). BPA as one of the potential EDCs to health risk and may interfere with the production or
activity of hormones in the human endocrine system (Gould et

How Marketing Is The Process Of Planning And Executing The...
Introduction
Marketing is the management process for identifying, anticipating and satisfying customer
requirements profitably (Chartered Institute of Marketing). Marketing is the process of planning and
executing the conception, goods and services that create exchanges that satisfy individual and
organisational objectives. The customer is the most important person to any business, this Assignment

promoting their goods or services, this will include market research and advertising. Businesses use
marketing to help create products to meet consumer needs and demand. Effective marketing will
involve market research as this produces the best results. There are two main types of market research,
the first type of market research is Quantitative Research this involves collecting a lot of information
by using techniques such as questionnaires and forms of surveys. The second type of market research
is Qualitative Research , this involves working with smaller consumers and discussing products and
services with the smaller consumer as researches take notes. The Information that is collected from

Improving The Changing Societal Norms Of Operations...
Productivity Check ; Efficiency Check ; Standardization Check ; Reverse Logistics????
Introduction
Manufacturing and Services has undergone many changes and has evolved tremendously over the
years. The evolution is primarily due to dynamic market place which changes according to changing
societal norms. Operations management is the result of interplay between these two, (ever changing
market and society) and in the process, adopted many new trends practices to serve the changing
societal demands. Thus, understanding of Operations in yesteryears is essential to anticipate what
beckons for it in the future. History of Operations
The modern operations origin can be traced to the Industrial Revolution which began around 1770s in
England. In its initial years only one person was responsible for production of goods from start to
finish and systems were not very developed; modern machines were not available.
With the advent of machine power, craft production started (skilled workers produce customized items
with simple, flexible tools). It lacked in achieving economies of scale and the process was too slow.
During 1950s
With the World War II, pressure grew on manufacturing which led to adoption of quantitative models
for different areas of operations management such as project management, forecasting and inventory.
During 1970 1980s
Quality Revolution: The world economy got liberalized and globalization set in. This onset led to

Felix Mendelssohn Major Accomplishments
Mendelssohn was a famous German composer of the Romantic period. Although he was born into a
Jewish family and grew up without a religion he soon became a reformed Christian. Mendelssohn was
born with the talent to be able to play instruments and make music, but his parents never really
supported his talent and didn t help him to improve his talent. He went on to pursue what he loved to
do and that was to compose and conduct music.
Mendelssohn was born in Hamburg, Germany, 1809. He was the grandson of the philosopher Moses
Mendelssohn, and the son of a banker (Abraham Mendelssohn) and his mother who was a part of the
Itzig family (Lea Salomon). He was the second of four children in his family and his sister was also

He never really performed on stage he was more a composer/ conductor, but when it came to these
instruments he was in the spotlight. He did however perform his own work and those of Bach and
Beethoven as well; this was really the only time where you were able to see him perform on stage.
Felix Mendelssohn and Robert Schumann had a very close working relationship as composers as well
as piano and organ performances of the composers 3(Chernaik).
Mendelssohn was one of the greatest conductors of all time. Why you may ask? Well he was the one
who started the use of the baton for tempo and to have control over the orchestra. This helped with his
success as a conductor and was a big innovation for future conductors after him. He was at times
judged for using the baton because the tempo on some works were too fast, but that didn t matter to
him because it was what helped him be a good conductor.
Mendelssohn is remembered as a talented composer, conductor, musician, etc. However after his death
there were many to criticize his background because he was Jewish and successful. But there are also
many who believe that he was great and a genius at what he did. This respect wasn t really shown
towards him until another 50 years or

A Perfect Competitive Market Structure
In the economy, market structures are examined thoroughly. There are four basic kinds of market
structures in economics: perfect competition, monopolistic competition, oligopoly, and monopoly.
Perfect competition is the one that is being focused on predominantly. A perfectly competitive market
is a market in which all market participants are price takers (Krugman Wells 1). Price takers are
producers and consumers whose actions have no effect on the market price of the good (Krugman
Wells 1). A perfect competitive market structure consists of three aspects that will be discussed. When
perfect competition comes to mind, the Organic Food Market structure can be associated to it or the
perfectly competitive market industry. In the Organic market, all the farmers in the industry are each
producing the same product for the buyers and sellers. The consumption of the individual consumer or
the production of the individual producer will not affect the market price of the goods. In a perfectly
competitive market all participating producers and consumers are price takers (Krugman Wells 1). As
stated by Paul Krugman and Robin Wells, in a perfectly competitive market neither consumption
decisions by individual producers affect the market price of the good (Krugman Wells 1). There are
two necessary conditions for perfect competition, the first being that none of the producers have a
large market share, and the second being that the goods produced are being regarded as a

U.s. Supreme Court And The Fourth Amendment
The U.S. Supreme Court and the Fourth Amendment
Since the founding of the American Democracy, partisanship has always been a major problem when
it comes to political aspects of the law. The Constitution was designed to implement laws into our
country that would make our governing body run smoother with fewer conflicts. However, when
dealing with Democracy based on the people s word it is hard to avoid such conflicts. Since each
citizen in our country has the right to freedom of speech and thought, the interpretation of various
parts of the Constitution have become heavily analyzed when dealing with cases of various crimes that
happen in the United States. Each judge on the Supreme Court is entitled to his or her own political
ideology so it is a constant debate as to whether a judge has biases on a particular issue based on
political views. These biases weave through our justice system creating a disarray of views and
arguments that always reflect back on the judges and their presentation, or lack their of, of American
ways. The Supreme Court of the United States, also known as the highest judicial body in the country,
leads the federal judicial system. The Supreme Court is made up of the Chief Justice and eight other
Associate Justices. With presidential nomination, these judges are on the Court for life and have the
most important cases to deal with in their jurisdiction. Our current makeup of the Supreme Court
consists of Chief Justice, John G. Roberts, Jr., having

The Effect Of Different Amounts Of Vinegar
Introduction + Research Question
The goal of this lab was to determine the effects of different amounts of Vinegar on the temperature in
the reaction NaHCO3 + HC2H3O2 β†’ NaC2H3O2 + H2O + CO2.
My lab partner and I researched and experimented with the temperature after this reaction because we
were intrigued by the solution seeming colder in the demonstration during class. We wondered why
and how a reaction can yield decreasing temperatures. We also wondered how vinegar would affect
the temperature change caused by the reaction. This lead to our experiment to investigate the
relationship between the amount of vinegar in the reaction and the temperature of the solution 40s
after the reaction commences.
The Hypothesis
If the amount of vinegar is increased then the temperature of the solution will drop until it stabilizes at
a certain point. The dependent variable in this experiment (the temperature) will stay the exact same
without any vinegar being added because of the lack of reaction. If more vinegar is added I believe the
temperature will continue to get colder until a certain point where the temperature will stabilize.
Theory/ Background Information/Abstract.
I believe my hypothesis will be true because from my research I have found that the reaction between
baking soda and vinegar is an endothermic reaction. Endothermic reactions are reactions that require
heat to be initiated. This need for heat in turn causes a drop in temperature once the reaction occurs
because the

The Confessions Of Nat Turner Analysis
Thomas Gray included in The Confessions of Nat Turner a letter addressed to the public in which he
reassured the white slave owners that the revolt was the offspring of gloomy fanaticism (Greenberg
42). Therefore, the reader can conclude that many passages in the confessions were entirely focused
on distorting Nat Turner to fit the description of a religious fanatic rather than to give the true
narrative of the slave leader. In Blake, or, The Huts of America, Delany challenged Gray s portrayal of
slave revolutions being the delirious byproducts of religious fanaticism by creating Henry Blake, an
educated revolutionary leader who mainly used religion as a rallying tool.
Gray s The Confessions of Nat Turner opened with an overview of Turner s early life. He included a
passage in which Turner said that an odd moment in his life, when he recalled events that happened
before his birth, laid the ground work of that enthusiasm, which has terminated so fatally to many
(44). By declaring his revolt as an enthusiasm, which means that it was a divinely inspired pursuit, he
already ingrained the prejudice of the confessions being the one of an overly religious man. The
confessions persisted with the idea of Turner being an irrational self proclaimed prophet. He was said
to have many revelations in his life which convinced him that he was ordained for some great purpose
in the hands of the Almighty (46). The purpose, as he saw it, was to lead his people to freedom.

Bunkhouse Creative Writing
Hand #3
I look up towards the sky and see dark clouds rolling across the sky towards the west where the
sounds of gunfire could be heard off in the distance. I look around the cramped bunkhouse and see the
other prisoners. The bunkhouse is cold and smells of rotting flesh and human waste. The beds are
made of cheap wood and thin cloth with some hay for a mattress. The guards walk in and start telling
people to wake up. I slowly get out of my wooden bed out onto the muddy floor. My feet feel cold as
they touch onto the earth below. My hands start to hurt from the cuts covering them when I try and get
up. I see a man refusing to get out of his bunk near the entrance of the bunkhouse. The guards saw him

and trying to find their loved ones. I jump off my bunk and put on my shoes as fast as I can. I run to
the door of the bunkhouse and swing it open as fast as I can. The first thing I see is a flaming jeep
outside the door. I look up towards the sky and see planes having dogfights above us as the ground
forces of this unknown force move towards the gate with an army of tanks. The gates fall easily to the
much more heavily armed force of the force that is now pushing deep inside of the camp. I run to

jeep had passed I run towards a place where I can see who the force is. The sound of explosions and
gunfire fills the air as I run towards the gate. When I get to the supply building that is right next to the
gate I climb on top of it. I look towards the closest tank and realize that the force that is taking the
camp over is the American

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Drop Shipping
Drop shipping is a retail satisfaction strategy where a store doesn t keep the items it offers in stock.
Rather, when a store offers an item, it buys the thing from an outsider and has it transported
straightforwardly to the client. Thus, the dealer never sees or handles the item.
The greatest contrast in the middle of drop shipping and the standard retail model is that the offering
dealer doesn t stock or own stock. Rather, the vendor buys stock as required from an outsider typically
a wholesaler or producer to satisfy orders.
This one of a kind model has various advantages and downsides:

The purpose of my project is to discover how technology is represented within the film Tron. To
answer this research question, I viewed and analyzed the movie and incorporated information from the
text and various websites. While studying this film, I took into consideration factors such as images
and language used, how technology is related to society, and what symbols the creator used to convey

This description led me to believe that the outlook of technology at the time, when the Internet was
just being introduced to the public, was fear. People feared the unknown power of the new technology
of computers. Tron is a story of man battling his own creations, which represents technology as a
powerful force with destructive capabilities.
I am interested in this project because I have always liked science fiction/fantasy movies. I like to
think about the possibilities that technology holds for our future. I am also interested in how
technology influences our culture. I was in high school when this movie came out and had limited
access to computers at that time. I wasn t concerned with the impact of new computer technology
then, but remember hearing people say that machines would someday run the world. For example, I
worked for a grocery store in the 1980s and remember other employees worrying that new machines
were being developed that would replace the cashiers, and we would all be out of a job. I think this
movie would probably have a bigger impact now that computers are such a large part of our everyday
lives. Artificial intelligence is still a popular theme for science fiction movies, so people must like to
consider it a possibility. I ve read that there is a possible sequel to the movie

Roman Propaganda Expressed Through Art
Unit 7 Essay
Mark Sprowls
AP art history The Roman rulers from ancient times are well known for their ability to coax their
people into thinking a certain way through the use of convincing pieces of art. The Roman Empire
was very troubled and its emperors are infamous for such things as lavish spending, unnecessary war,
and even the killing of family members, and this begs the question: how were there so few large scale
revolts of the Roman populous? The answer is the use of propaganda in popular Roman culture. The
Roman Empire used propaganda for political purposes by incorporating Roman family values,
victorious war scenes, and general Roman successes into their artworks. Adding family values to art

On the Arch of Constantine a plethora of works depicting the triumphs of his predecessors can be
seen, which he uses to his advantage, as if he was proposing the idea that he was as great as the other
emperors. In fact, he even goes as far to replace the heads of the other emperors on the arch with his
own like he was responsible for the many good deeds that they had done. One example of this is a
relief where Hadrian is sacrificing an animal to Apollo and then hunting boar, except Hadrian s face is
replaced by Constantine s. This stealing of works was probably a way to gain favor with the populous
for himself as well as the next ruling emperor. All in all these two monuments to their respective
patrons were highly effective pieces of propaganda that may have been responsible for a less
rebellious empire. To look back upon the propaganda used by the Roman Empire, it seems particularly
ingenious that they accomplished such a feat. To keep an empire with that many problems, problems
that could undermine even the greatest leaders, relatively stable is astonishing. In conclusion, through
propaganda in art that depicted victorious war campaigns, successful emperors and a halcyon family
life the Rulers of ancient Rome were able to extend their respective time in power as well as

I have learned from the textbook that there are essentially two different ways that people have sought
to understand their origins. The first has to with storytelling in the creation (or origin) myths. These
myths are explanations of how a group of people decided their moral principles that allowed them to
establish a set of rules for their relationships with each other, nature, and the supernatural world. The
explanation of how these relationships worked and came to be further created distinct cultural and
societal structures that each member of that community would follow and share. One of the creation

A Brief Overview of Walter Mitty
In the short story, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty by James Thurber, many interesting fantasies occur
in a way which brings the reader into a different world. The story switches back and forth from
delusion to reality, dragging the reader into a life, perhaps similar to their own. In the beginning of this
story, the first paragraph is a fantasy of the main character, Walter Mitty. It describes his life as a
commander of an aircraft. An intense scene is displayed showing what Walter Mitty wishes would be
reality. It is not until the next paragraph that one discovers this reality. His wife then interrupts the

The formalistic approach for analyzing this would be most appropriate in order to pick out the
elements such as setting, irony, imagery and metaphorical factors. These are organized in such a way
that the formatting consumes the story. In this tale, the first important element would be the
introduction of the setting. Throughout the story, the author writes across multiple settings because of
these flashbacks that he displays. The first setting would be on an airplane with two introductory
characters; The Commander and Lieutenant Berg . This beginning setting is seen as a guessing game
to begin with as the dialogue becomes the most prominent use in this introduction. Once the setting is
described more clearly as the paragraph moves forward, the reader will grasp an understanding of
where these two characters are. However, soon after the reader s mind may be clarified, the scene is
interrupted with the dialogue of a new character, Mrs. Mitty. Not so fast! You re driving too fast! Said
Mrs. Mitty. What are you driving so fast for? (Thurber 1). This is the first example one has of the
basic structure that this story will set forth. The organization of this story goes from what was
described in the introductory paragraph as a flashback, to the interrupting dialogue of Mrs. Mitty. As

Analysis Of The Book American Psycho By Bret Easton Ellis
American Psycho is a novel written by Bret Easton Ellis in 1991. The book details the life and
subsequent descent into madness of yuppie investment banker Patrick Bateman. Bateman appears to
everyone as charming young man but is also possibly one of the most vicious serial killers in
American history (whether Bateman committed the murders is left ambiguous). It takes place at the
height of the Reagan era in Manhattan and is primarily a critique of the vapid and capitalist society
that Bateman resides in. Ellis criticizes various aspects of American culture through both the actions
and thoughts of Patrick Bateman and those around him. Bateman acts as symbol of the death of ones
humanity that occurs in a superficial and nihilistic post modern society. The things that are critiqued
the most in this novel are materialism, conformity, superficiality, and the depravity of man. One of the
most prevalent aspects of society criticized by this novel is the depravity of man. Ellis portrays
American society as a place rife with violence and horror yet is also desensitized to it. For example
this is summarized perfectly on page 4 when Timothy Price (a friend of Bateman) looks through a
newspaper and says the following: In one issue in One issue let s see here... strangled models, babies
thrown from tenement rooftops, kids killed in the subway, a Communist rally, Mafia boss wiped out,
Nazis he flips through the pages excitedly baseball players with AIDS, more Mafia shit, gridlock,

Descriptive Essay On New York City
New York City. One of the greatest states. And full of tourist! Whenever tourists come to New York
City, there is a checklist of place to see and visit. There is the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State
building, Central Park, and, of course, Time Square. Time Square is the center of everything touristy.
It is full of shopping, food, lights, and Broadway plays. Almost anyone who comes to visits always
goes there. Take it from a girl who use to be a tourist herself. Whenever I was visiting New York City,
my family and I would never miss Time Square. We would always make our way there and especially
at night when the lights are shining. Time Square really is the enhances New York s Motto as the city
that never sleeps. However, Time Square did not start out as the center of tourism. It has a whole
history behind it and how it became the attraction it became! Time Square, the intersection of
Broadway and Seventh Avenue, wasn t originally called Times Square. It was actually called Longacre
Square in the 19th century. It was named after London s carriage district (New York Times). Yes,
Times Square used to be a horse and buggy neighborhood. Just imagine Times Square full of horses. It
was named Longacre square because it was named after Long acre in London. Long acre was a horse
coach industry that did business with the people in New York (New York Public Library). But
eventually, with the opening of businesses, subways, and Broadway shows made it hard so

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Virtualization
Virtualization
What is virtualization?
It is the creation of a virtual version of something. Which includes:
Computer hardware platforms
Operating systems
Storage devices
Computer network resources
It is the creation of a virtual version of a device or resource. It gives a virtual view computing
resources. Its allows you to turn one server into several hosts.
Brief History of Virtualization
When you think about the term Virtualization, the company VMWare most likely will come to mind.
In fact, you may not realise that it actually started back in the early 1960 s. it was pioneered by
companies like General Electric, Bell labs, and International Business Machines (IBM).

It involves embedding virtual machine software into the component of a server. It s most commonly
known as hypervisor and virtual monitor are the most common.
It is a rapidly growing technology that is getting popular in server platforms. The simple idea is
putting several small physical servers into one large physical server so the processor can run
effectively.
The hypervisor controls the processor, memory and other components. The hypervisor allows several
different operating systems to run at once on the same machine. The OS running will appear to have
its own processor, memory and other components.
Desktop Virtualization This often is called client virtualization. It is considered a type of client server
computing model which the virtual desktop is stored on a centralized server and not on the machine
being used.
You interact with a virtual desktop in the same way you would with a real computer. A big plus is you
can remotely log in to access your desktop from any location

Fate And Free Will In Oedipus The King
Fate and Free Will in Sophocles Oedipus the King Introduction
The events in Oedipus the King, written by Sophocles, show an underlying relationship of man s free
will existing within the cosmic order or fate which the Greeks believed guided the universe in a
harmonious purpose. Man was free to choose and was ultimately held responsible for his own actions.
Both the concept of fate and free will played an integral part in Oedipus destruction. Although he was
a victim of fate, he was not controlled by it. Oedipus was destined from birth to someday marry his
mother and to murder his father. This prophecy, as warned by the oracle of Apollo at Delphi was
unconditional and inevitably would come to pass, no matter what he may have done to avoid it. His
past actions were determined by fate, but what he did in Thebes; he did so of his own will.
In Sophocles Oedipus the King, the themes of fate and free will are very strong throughout the play.
Only one, however, brought about Oedipus downfall and death. Both points could be argued to great
effect. In ancient Greece, fate was considered to be a rudimentary part of daily life. Every aspect of
life depended and was based upon fate (Nagle 100). It is common belief to assume that mankind does

He does this in reaction to the events that take place. Oedipus was aware that he alone was responsible
for his actions and gauged his own eyes out. That is the free will standpoint on the issue. Oedipus was
at the same time not responsible for his actions. The gods controlled his personality and therefore
controlled the outcome of his life. If Oedipus realized this he might not have taken his own sight. The
gods use their power to provoke human s free will. They were responsible for the demise of Oedipus,
but in the same time convince the human that it was there

The Future Of Personal Transportation
The future of personal transportation is in complete vehicle automation. However, the risks to
individuals are not as high as the media may make it seem. That being said, it is important for the
public to be aware of the new threats involved in driving automated cars. A consumer interest in
online vehicle security will push manufacturers to invest in better security systems to defend against
hacker attacks.
The vast majority of hackers are not looking to murder people. Most likely they seek to invade
privacy, or exploit online services for financial gain. These people are looking to be a nuisance and
possibly trying to harass particular individuals in the process. To look at the threat of vehicle hacking

Many of these systems are incredibly useful, including: satellite radio, Bluetooth connections, and the

of the most blatant issues is that many of these electronic systems are too connected to each other.
Hackers are able to exploit the weakness of one system, and then proceed to manipulate the much

Researcher Peiter Zatko said,
If we know that hacking will happen, then car manufacturers have an ethical obligation to implement

The Batting Of Baseball Scouts
We are baseball scouts and we just got to the high school to look at a player. He is on the home team
and is a shortstop that we want to draft. His number is 71. He is batting cleanup (4th). He just came
out to take batting practice.
Now in the 1st inning, with 2 outs, he makes a diving stop to get the third out. End of the inning. He is
up to bat in the bottom of the first inning with runners on 2nd and 3rd, one out. Here comes the pitch...
BOOM! That ball hit him right in the small of the back. He is down and he s not getting back up. The
home team might have lost their star infielder in the 1st inning, but no, he gets up and walks to first
base. Bases loaded, one out.
The next batter hits a fly ball to the right fielder. The runner on third tags and scores. 0 1.
It is the top of the 5th inning and the first batter hits a sharp grounder to the shortstop. It should be an
easy out, but the ball bounces off his glove and scatters toward the center fielder. The next batter hits a
pop up to the first baseman. One out. Next up, the catcher. He hits a sharp bouncing ball to the 2nd
baseman, who turns it into a 4 6 3 (second bacemen, to the shortstop, to the first baseman) double
play.
It is in the top 8th inning with runners on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, one out for the other team. The other team
has their best hitter up. He hits a ball high and far to deep left center field, out number two. The runner
on 3rd is tagging up, the left fielder gets the

Functionalism from Classical to Contemporary Theory
Functionalism is a social theory that has its foundations in the birth of the discipline called sociology
(Adams Sydie, 2002 p.05). Angste Comte, considered the founder of sociology, believed that
sociological matters should be explained through scientific study. Functionalism is a method of study
based primary on facts, objectively measured, essentially applying the scientific method to the study
of society, social actions and interactions. Functionalism is interested in the relationships between
systems within society. Functionalism is a top down theory that looks for grand scale explanations to
society. As a sociological theory, Functionalism sees social structure or the organization of society as
more important than the individual. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Parsons pattern variables closely resemble the work by Durkheim on division of labor that makes
individuals dependent upon one another because of the professionalization and specialization of the
labor force. Durkheim was concerned about how the division of labor changed the way that people felt
they were part of society. Durkheim used the terms organic and mechanical societies, these would also
be analogous with Max Weber s traditional and modern society. Parsons pattern variables were more
complex that the concepts by Durkheim in an attempt to better explain social action between people or
groups (Adams Sydie, 2002 p.16). Parsons student, Robert Merton a mid range theorist contributed to
the modernization of sociological functionalism by challenging the foundational hypotheses of
Functionalism that all functions serve a purpose or they fade from society (Adams Sydie, 2002 p.26).
Merton claims that, in a differentiated modern society not all functions may be relevant to a system s
needs or may they provide secondary functions. Merton s manifest and latent functions indicate that a
function that services a primary need in society could also provide a secondary service. This may be
observed in viewing the intended function of marijuana prohibition. The intended or manifest function
of marijuana prohibition is to prevent the use of a conscious altering substance; the latent function has
been the overcrowding of the prisons in the

The Recession Of The United States And United Kingdom
The Great Recession of 2007 2012, of which several countries are still recovering, including the
United States and United Kingdom, shows great similarity to the Japanese Recession of the 1990s.
However, by taking a closer look and identifying the causes of both we become aware of the
differences that make them not so similar after all. The Great Recession had a domino effect beginning
in the United States with the fault of subprime mortgages creating a housing bubble. Whereas Japan s
fault lies with the increasing land prices due to investment, in which created a land bubble that
eventually would burst. With the United States and Japan holding high ranks on the Top 10 Exporters

The risk was extremely high due to the possibility that the loan would never be paid back. During the
2000s a housing price bubble was beginning to form within the United States. This was due to those
who before could not own a house, suddenly being able to due to subprime mortgages. Prices rose
90% from 2000 to 2006 (Ueda, 2012) showing a rapid increase in housing prices and therefor
increasing the amount further of those who would never be able to pay their mortgage back. This
caused great financial pressure within the United States economy when the federal reserve raised
interest rates within the United States in February 2007.This meant that debts were not being paid by
subprime mortgage holders resulting in the collapse of the subprime mortgage market in mid 2007. A
prime example of this is the largest sub prime lender firm within the United States, New Century
Financial. New Century Financial filled for bankruptcy on the 2nd of April 2007. The collapse came
with a cut of roughly 3,200 jobs. (Treanor, 2007) The collapse of the subprime market meant that the
housing boom within United States and United Kingdom came to an end and burst the housing bubble
within the United States. (Arestis, Sobreira, and Oreiro, 2010) However, this did not stop the spread of
the subprime mortgage. In the United Kingdom, Bank Northern Rock began to target sub prime
customers. Northern

Handwriting v Typing
The process of reading and writing involves a number of senses, she explains. When writing by hand,
our brain receives feedback from our motor actions, together with the sensation of touching a pencil
and paper. These kinds of feedback is significantly different from those we receive when touching and
typing on a keyboard.
Learning by doing
Together with neurophysiologist Jean Luc Velay at the University of Marseille, Anne Mangen has
written an article published in the Advances in Haptics periodical. They have examined research
which goes a long way in confirming the significance of these differences.
An experiment carried out by Velay s research team in Marseille establishes that different parts of the

A lack of focus
There is a lot of research on haptics in relation to computer games, in which for instance vibrating
hand controls are employed. According to Mangen, virtual drills with sound and vibration are used for
training dentists.
But there has been very little effort to include haptics within the humanistic disciplines, she explains.
In educational science, there is scant interest in the ergonomics of reading and writing, and its
potential significance in the learning process.
Mangen refers to an experiment involving two groups of adults, in which the participants were
assigned the task of having to learn to write in an unknown alphabet, consisting of approximately
twenty letters. One group was taught to write by hand, while the other was using a keyboard. Three
and six weeks into the experiment, the participants recollection of these letters, as well as their
rapidity in distinguishing right and reversed letters, were tested. Those who had learned the letters by
handwriting came out best in all tests. Furthermore, fMRI brain scans indicated an activation of the
Broca s area within this group. Among those who had learned by typing on keyboards, there was little
or no activation of this area.
The sensorimotor component forms an integral part of training for beginners, and in special education
for people with learning difficulties. But there is little awareness and understanding of the importance
of handwriting to the learning

Power training involves applying a force at the greatest speed possible (Power = force x velocity).
Jumping is a powerful movement and it must be trained using exercises which require a high power
output. In a previous article, I had described the importance of strength in vertical jump training
development. A well developed strength program supplies the necessary force application in the power
equation. Now it is time to discuss how to apply velocity to the power equation.
Performing movements at a high velocity is the goal when designing power based exercises along
with a second goal of focusing on maximum effort with each repetition. There are two major types of
power exercises, those which involve more than body weight resistance and those utilizing only body
weight. This article will discuss the application of performing power exercises which incorporate an
added resistance through weight training. Power resistance exercises can fall into several categories:
1) weightlifting exercises with a low to moderate percentage

Symmetric Generalized Biderivations On Jordan Ideals
SYMMETRIC GENERALIZED BIDERIVATIONS ON JORDAN IDEALS
IN PRIME RINGS
AHMED ABOUBAKR* , ** AND SANTOS GONZÁLEZ**
Abstract. Let R be a prime ring with charR 6 = 2. A biadditive symmetric map B :
R Γ— R β†’ R is called symmetric biderivation if, for any fixed y ∈ R, the map x β†’ B(x, y) is a
derivation. A symmetric biadditive map G : R Γ— R β†’ R is a symmetric generalized biderivation if for
any fixed y ∈ R, the map x β†’ G(x, y) is a generalized derivation of R associated with the derivation
B(., y). In the present paper, we investigate the commutativity of a ring having a generalized
biderivation satisfying certain algebraic conditions. 1. Introduction
Throughout this paper R denotes an associative ring with center Z(R). Recall that R is prime if aRb =
(0) implies that a = 0 or b = 0. R is semiprime if aRa = 0 implies a = 0.
As usual, [x, y] = xy βˆ’ yx denotes the commutator, and x β—¦ y = xy + yx denotes the Jordan product. A
ring R is said to be n torsion free, where n 6 = 0 is a positive integer, if whenever na = 0, with a ∈ R,
then a = 0. An additive subgroup J is said to be a Jordan ideal of R if u β—¦ r ∈ J, for all u ∈ J and r ∈ R.
Clearly every ideal of R is a Jordan ideal of R but the converse is not true. An additive subgroup U of
R is said to be a Lie ideal of R if [u, r] ∈ U , for all u ∈ U and r ∈ R. If charR = 2, then [x, y] = x β—¦ y,
so assume through this paper charR 6 = 2.
A derivation d : R β†’ R is an additive map such that d(xy) = d(x)y+xd(y) for all x, y ∈ R.
An additive

  • 2. The Significance of William Pitt in Reforming the British... The Significance of William Pitt in Reforming the British Parliamentary System Successive Kings of England, George I (1714 1727) and George II (1727 60), both proved highly disinterested in the political aspects of their country. As a result of this disinterest, each in turn had to leave national ruling to the Government. Subsequently, in 1716 the Septennial Act was passed, which extended the life of parliament from 3 to 7 years. This provided for an unprecedented period of parliament stability, and ultimately limited the powers of the king. (Barnett, 2002 p654). Political power had now shifted from the king to his chosen first minister. Parliament at this time could not be described as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, they were patiently awaiting their position as minister in the House of Lords. It is in the House of Lords they would have most power. House of Commons members had no social responsibility at this time. The running of Government was very corrupt and members were not concerned about keeping their seats as they inherited their positions. The use of sinecures is at an all time high and a mere 4% of the population had the right to vote. The Monarchy had indirect power and was able to use taxes and funding to achieve beneficial results in Parliament that suited their own interests. William Pitt was raised in a highly politically aware family. His father William, who was the First Earl of Chatham (1766) |took great interest and William junior was sent to Cambridge for his university education. The Earl of Chatham was determined that his son would eventually become a member of the House of Commons and at an early age, William was given lessons on how to become an effective orator (Sparticus, 2005 Pg1). At Cambridge, William Pitt studied political philosophy among other subjects. At university, Pitt worked hard and showed a reserved, aloof and self controlled character (Biography of William Pitt, 2005 p1). Pitt suffered with gout and this combined with an antiquated privilege that allowed noblemen s sons to graduate without examination, meant that Pitt was able to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Leaching Of Human Exposure (BPA) Human exposure can occur through multiple routes, however oral exposure is the major route of exposure to BPA, thus, oral exposure occurs because of the leaching of BPA from polycarbonate containers and from the plastic lining of cans (Chris et al., 2009). • 5. Improving The Changing Societal Norms Of Operations... Productivity Check ; Efficiency Check ; Standardization Check ; Reverse Logistics???? Introduction Manufacturing and Services has undergone many changes and has evolved tremendously over the years. The evolution is primarily due to dynamic market place which changes according to changing societal norms. Operations management is the result of interplay between these two, (ever changing market and society) and in the process, adopted many new trends practices to serve the changing societal demands. Thus, understanding of Operations in yesteryears is essential to anticipate what beckons for it in the future. History of Operations The modern operations origin can be traced to the Industrial Revolution which began around 1770s in England. In its initial years only one person was responsible for production of goods from start to finish and systems were not very developed; modern machines were not available. With the advent of machine power, craft production started (skilled workers produce customized items with simple, flexible tools). It lacked in achieving economies of scale and the process was too slow. During 1950s With the World War II, pressure grew on manufacturing which led to adoption of quantitative models for different areas of operations management such as project management, forecasting and inventory. • 6. Felix Mendelssohn Major Accomplishments Mendelssohn was a famous German composer of the Romantic period. Although he was born into a Jewish family and grew up without a religion he soon became a reformed Christian. Mendelssohn was born with the talent to be able to play instruments and make music, but his parents never really supported his talent and didn t help him to improve his talent. He went on to pursue what he loved to do and that was to compose and conduct music. Mendelssohn was born in Hamburg, Germany, 1809. He was the grandson of the philosopher Moses Mendelssohn, and the son of a banker (Abraham Mendelssohn) and his mother who was a part of the Itzig family (Lea Salomon). He never really performed on stage he was more a composer/ conductor, but when it came to these instruments he was in the spotlight. He did however perform his own work and those of Bach and Beethoven as well; this was really the only time where you were able to see him perform on stage. Felix Mendelssohn and Robert Schumann had a very close working relationship as composers as well as piano and organ performances of the composers 3(Chernaik). Mendelssohn was one of the greatest conductors of all time. Why you may ask? Well he was the one who started the use of the baton for tempo and to have control over the orchestra. This helped with his success as a conductor and was a big innovation for future conductors after him. He was at times judged for using the baton because the tempo on some works were too fast, but that didn t matter to him because it was what helped him be a good conductor. Mendelssohn is remembered as a talented composer, conductor, musician, etc. However after his death there were many to criticize his background because he was Jewish and successful. But there are also many who believe that he was great and a genius at what he did. This respect wasn t really shown towards him until another 50 years or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. A Perfect Competitive Market Structure In the economy, market structures are examined thoroughly. There are four basic kinds of market structures in economics: perfect competition, monopolistic competition, oligopoly, and monopoly. Perfect competition is the one that is being focused on predominantly. A perfectly competitive market is a market in which all market participants are price takers (Krugman Wells 1). Price takers are producers and consumers whose actions have no effect on the market price of the good (Krugman Wells 1). A perfect competitive market structure consists of three aspects that will be discussed. When perfect competition comes to mind, the Organic Food Market structure can be associated to it or the perfectly competitive market industry. In the Organic market, all the farmers in the industry are each producing the same product for the buyers and sellers. The consumption of the individual consumer or the production of the individual producer will not affect the market price of the goods. In a perfectly competitive market all participating producers and consumers are price takers (Krugman Wells 1). As stated by Paul Krugman and Robin Wells, in a perfectly competitive market neither consumption decisions by individual producers affect the market price of the good (Krugman Wells 1). There are two necessary conditions for perfect competition, the first being that none of the producers have a large market share, and the second being that the goods produced are being regarded as a ... • 9. U.s. Supreme Court And The Fourth Amendment The U.S. Supreme Court and the Fourth Amendment Since the founding of the American Democracy, partisanship has always been a major problem when it comes to political aspects of the law. The Constitution was designed to implement laws into our country that would make our governing body run smoother with fewer conflicts. However, when dealing with Democracy based on the people s word it is hard to avoid such conflicts. Since each citizen in our country has the right to freedom of speech and thought, the interpretation of various parts of the Constitution have become heavily analyzed when dealing with cases of various crimes that happen in the United States. Each judge on the Supreme Court is entitled to his or her own political ideology so it is a constant debate as to whether a judge has biases on a particular issue based on political views. These biases weave through our justice system creating a disarray of views and arguments that always reflect back on the judges and their presentation, or lack their of, of American ways. The Supreme Court of the United States, also known as the highest judicial body in the country, leads the federal judicial system. The Supreme Court is made up of the Chief Justice and eight other Associate Justices. With presidential nomination, these judges are on the Court for life and have the most important cases to deal with in their jurisdiction. • 10. The Effect Of Different Amounts Of Vinegar Introduction + Research Question The goal of this lab was to determine the effects of different amounts of Vinegar on the temperature in the reaction NaHCO3 + HC2H3O2 β†’ NaC2H3O2 + H2O + CO2. My lab partner and I researched and experimented with the temperature after this reaction because we were intrigued by the solution seeming colder in the demonstration during class. We wondered why and how a reaction can yield decreasing temperatures. We also wondered how vinegar would affect the temperature change caused by the reaction. This lead to our experiment to investigate the relationship between the amount of vinegar in the reaction and the temperature of the solution 40s after the reaction commences. The Hypothesis If the amount of vinegar is increased then the temperature of the solution will drop until it stabilizes at a certain point. The dependent variable in this experiment (the temperature) will stay the exact same without any vinegar being added because of the lack of reaction. If more vinegar is added I believe the temperature will continue to get colder until a certain point where the temperature will stabilize. Theory/ Background Information/Abstract. I believe my hypothesis will be true because from my research I have found that the reaction between baking soda and vinegar is an endothermic reaction. Endothermic reactions are reactions that require heat to be initiated. This need for heat in turn causes a drop in temperature once the reaction occurs because the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Confessions Of Nat Turner Analysis Thomas Gray included in The Confessions of Nat Turner a letter addressed to the public in which he reassured the white slave owners that the revolt was the offspring of gloomy fanaticism (Greenberg 42). Therefore, the reader can conclude that many passages in the confessions were entirely focused on distorting Nat Turner to fit the description of a religious fanatic rather than to give the true narrative of the slave leader. In Blake, or, The Huts of America, Delany challenged Gray s portrayal of slave revolutions being the delirious byproducts of religious fanaticism by creating Henry Blake, an educated revolutionary leader who mainly used religion as a rallying tool. Gray s The Confessions of Nat Turner opened with an overview of Turner s early life. He included a passage in which Turner said that an odd moment in his life, when he recalled events that happened before his birth, laid the ground work of that enthusiasm, which has terminated so fatally to many (44). By declaring his revolt as an enthusiasm, which means that it was a divinely inspired pursuit, he already ingrained the prejudice of the confessions being the one of an overly religious man. The confessions persisted with the idea of Turner being an irrational self proclaimed prophet. He was said to have many revelations in his life which convinced him that he was ordained for some great purpose in the hands of the Almighty (46). The purpose, as he saw it, was to lead his people to freedom. All of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I look around the cramped bunkhouse and see the other prisoners. The bunkhouse is cold and smells of rotting flesh and human waste. The beds are made of cheap wood and thin cloth with some hay for a mattress. The guards walk in and start telling people to wake up. I slowly get out of my wooden bed out onto the muddy floor. For example, I worked for a grocery store in the 1980s and remember other employees worrying that new machines were being developed that would replace the cashiers, and we would all be out of a job. The Roman Empire was very troubled and its emperors are infamous for such things as lavish spending, unnecessary war, and even the killing of family members, and this begs the question: how were there so few large scale revolts of the Roman populous? The answer is the use of propaganda in popular Roman culture. On the Arch of Constantine a plethora of works depicting the triumphs of his predecessors can be seen, which he uses to his advantage, as if he was proposing the idea that he was as great as the other emperors. In fact, he even goes as far to replace the heads of the other emperors on the arch with his own like he was responsible for the many good deeds that they had done. One example of this is a relief where Hadrian is sacrificing an animal to Apollo and then hunting boar, except Hadrian s face is replaced by Constantine s. This stealing of works was probably a way to gain favor with the populous for himself as well as the next ruling emperor. All in all these two monuments to their respective patrons were highly effective pieces of propaganda that may have been responsible for a less rebellious empire. To look back upon the propaganda used by the Roman Empire, it seems particularly ingenious that they accomplished such a feat. To keep an empire with that many problems, problems that could undermine even the greatest leaders, relatively stable is astonishing. The book details the life and subsequent descent into madness of yuppie investment banker Patrick Bateman. Bateman appears to everyone as charming young man but is also possibly one of the most vicious serial killers in American history (whether Bateman committed the murders is left ambiguous). It takes place at the height of the Reagan era in Manhattan and is primarily a critique of the vapid and capitalist society that Bateman resides in. Ellis criticizes various aspects of American culture through both the actions and thoughts of Patrick Bateman and those around him. Strength Based Power Training For The Vertical Jump Strength Based Power Training For The Vertical Jump By Neal J Putt | Submitted On February 05, 2012 Recommend Article Article Comments Print Article Share this article on Facebook Share this article on Twitter Share this article on Google+ Share this article on Linkedin Share this article on StumbleUpon Share this article on Delicious Share this article on Digg Share this article on Reddit Share this article on Pinterest Expert Author Neal J Putt Power training involves applying a force at the greatest speed possible (Power = force x velocity). Jumping is a powerful movement and it must be trained using exercises which require a high power output. In a previous article, I had described the importance of strength in vertical jump training development. A well developed strength program supplies the necessary force application in the power equation. Now it is time to discuss how to apply velocity to the power equation. Performing movements at a high velocity is the goal when designing power based exercises along with a second goal of focusing on maximum effort with each repetition. There are two major types of power exercises, those which involve more than body weight resistance and those utilizing only body weight. This article will discuss the application of performing power exercises which incorporate an added resistance through weight training. Power resistance exercises can fall into several categories: 1) weightlifting exercises with a low to moderate percentage ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Risk assessment is about identifying the risks and putting things in place to reduce or remove the risks. Slips, trips and falls are the most common cause of non fatal major injuries in service industries and account for over half of all reported injuries Source HSE. Example: Slips Wet floors because something has been spilt or an individual has just had a bath Put Caution Wet Floor sign up to alert other people of the danger. Trips Electrical leads carelessly left trailing across the floor Frayed carpets or mats Cleaners bucket left in a walkway Tidy up the leads so they do not cross a walkway Alert a maintenance person or your supervisor immediately Remove obstacle and inform cleaners. Let R be a prime ring with charR 6 = 2. A biadditive symmetric map B : R Γ— R β†’ R is called symmetric biderivation if, for any fixed y ∈ R, the map x β†’ B(x, y) is a derivation. A symmetric biadditive map G : R Γ— R β†’ R is a symmetric generalized biderivation if for any fixed y ∈ R, the map x β†’ G(x, y) is a generalized derivation of R associated with the derivation B(., y). In the present paper, we investigate the commutativity of a ring having a generalized biderivation satisfying certain algebraic conditions. 1. Introduction Throughout this paper R denotes an associative ring with center Z(R). Recall that R is prime if aRb = (0) implies that a = 0 or b = 0. R is semiprime if aRa = 0 implies a = 0. As usual, [x, y] = xy βˆ’ yx denotes the commutator, and x β—¦ y = xy + yx denotes the Jordan product. A ring R is said to be n torsion free, where n 6 = 0 is a positive integer, if whenever na = 0, with a ∈ R, then a = 0. An additive subgroup J is said to be a Jordan ideal of R if u β—¦ r ∈ J, for all u ∈ J and r ∈ R. Clearly every ideal of R is a Jordan ideal of R but the converse is not true. An additive subgroup U of R is said to be a Lie ideal of R if [u, r] ∈ U , for all u ∈ U and r ∈ R. If charR = 2, then [x, y] = x β—¦ y, so assume through this paper charR 6 = 2. A derivation d : R β†’ R is an additive map such that d(xy) = d(x)y+xd(y) for all x, y ∈ R. An additive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
