Sample Introduction Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Sample Introduction Essay" can present both challenges and
opportunities for writers. On one hand, the seemingly straightforward nature of the topic may
lead to complacency, as it might be tempting to overlook the importance of a compelling
introduction when discussing a sample introduction. On the other hand, the simplicity of the
topic could pose difficulties in finding unique angles and engaging perspectives to captivate the
reader's interest.
One of the primary challenges lies in avoiding clichГ©s and ensuring that the introduction
doesn't become a generic template. Striking a balance between providing a sample introduction
and adding an element of creativity to the essay can be intricate. Writers may find themselves
navigating the fine line between elucidating the fundamental components of an introduction and
infusing their work with a personal touch that elevates it beyond a mere demonstration.
Furthermore, delving into the intricacies of crafting an introduction might require extensive
research on effective writing techniques, rhetorical devices, and examples from renowned
literature. It demands a nuanced understanding of the nuances that make introductions
memorable and impactful.
Despite the challenges, there is an opportunity for writers to showcase their proficiency in the art
of essay composition. The essay provides a platform to not only discuss the technical aspects of
writing introductions but also to demonstrate these principles through the very structure of the
essay itself.
In conclusion, while writing an essay on the topic of "Sample Introduction Essay" may seem
straightforward at first glance, it brings forth a set of challenges that demand careful
consideration and skillful execution. It's an exercise in creativity, precision, and the ability to
transform seemingly mundane topics into engaging narratives.

Advertising in Baseball Stadiums
Introduction Baseball is considered to be America s favorite pastime and has
become popular all over the world. This sport is watched by millions of people
every time there is a game played. People will go to the stadiums to watch and a lot
of fans will watch the game on television. Since there are so many people watching
these games, advertisinghas become more and more apart of every baseball stadium
due to the amount of exposure a company can receive by using the many types of
ads found in a baseball stadium. The stadiums use billboards, fences, green screens,
merchandise, airplanes, names of stadiums, and scoreboards as all different ways to
advertise a company s product.

Merchandise
Merchandise is probably one of the most common forms of advertising in a
baseball stadium. First you have the souvenir shops inside all of the ballparks that
sell shirts and hats with the team s logos and the stadiums name on them. This
makes the fans a walking advertisement for the stadium and team. Food is the next
form of advertising in baseball stadiums followed by beverages. These two go
hand in hand with one another because when people buy a hotdog they usually
want to wash it down with an ice cold beer. Hotdogs and beer have almost become a
tradition in the fact that when you go to ballparks those are the top two items fans
purchase the most. Lastly you have the vendors walking around yelling out the name
of beer they are selling along with hotdogs and peanuts. For example, Wrigley Field
is known for their Old Style beer so when the vendor is yelling out get your ice cold
Old Style they are advertising for the beer company and giving them good exposure
throughout the game.
Airplanes Airplanes are another way marketers reach a large crowd at one time by
using fly by advertisements. These were more effective and used a lot more before
technology began to take over. Planes are able to pull a large sign behind it with a
phrase written in a banner style, which limits what a marketer can
Symbolism Of Trees In Speak By Laurie Halse Anderson
Throughout the novel, Speak, by Laurie Halse Anderson, there are many examples
of symbolism. The one symbol that certainly stands out the most is trees. Trees
appear more than once in the novel. First, there is the object she drew for her art
project. The trees she tried to create in her art class create a lot of symbolism.
Publishers Weekly states that after Melinda s trauma she is barely able to speak,
but only through her work in art class, and with the support of a compassionate
teacher there, does she begin to reach out to others and eventually find her voice
(para. 1). There is also the apple that Melinda cuts open in her biology class. Lastly,
there was the dying tree in her parent s backyard. All the trees in this novel have
some symbolism toward... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Melinda draws the word tree she says Tree? It s too easy (Anderson, p.12).
Melinda thought that making an art project of a tree that had emotion would be
easy. She came to find out that it was harder than she had expected. After a week of
trying to create her tree out of watercolors, Melinda creates trees that have been hit
by lightning. She tries to paint them so they are nearly dead, but not totally
(Anderson, pp.30 31). This statement reflects how Melinda feels towards life. After
she was raped, she felt as if she was dead. She had no one to confide in and all her
friends, and even people who were not her friends, were angry with her for calling
the cops. She did not have the courage to tell them the reason she called the cops,
because she feared they would no longer think of her the same way. Because of
this, Melinda lived a lonely life with no one to talk to. She was not completely dead,
but was not living her life to the fullest either. The trees she painted with watercolor
are a representation of how she sees her

Since then, he has come out as a strong candidate, continuously leading in the polls.
In his campaign, Trump has stood out on major issues, such as Immigration, 2nd

Reform, Trump has said that any veteran can take their military ID to any doctor
for immediate treatment, and that this power to choose will greatly increase the
effectiveness of the VA in order to give vets the care that they have earned.
According to Trump, income taxes will not be paid by anyone making less than
$25,000 as a single person, or $50,000 married, along with simplifying tax brackets

believes that there needs to be a wall protecting our borders. Trump also encourages
cooperation with gang task forces, tighter restrictions on visas, and putting American
workers first in line for jobs. Last, but not least, 2nd Amendment Rights, in Trump s
words, need to be majorly expanded and remove all bans on what people can or
cannot have, along with fixing the mental health care system. In summary, Trump
believes in opportunity, and these positions are indicative of that

Utah:
We spent the first day of our trip driving across the high desert of Wyoming
towards Utah. While it made for an unusual Easter Sunday, a traditional pot roast
and a potato casserole reminded of the family holidays and fueled us for another day
of traveling. Day two involved even more driving, with a memorable stop near the
border of Utah at the Bonnevelle Salt Flats. The weather was theatrically arid for
our visit, despite rain in the region last week. We spent the beautiful sunrise taking
pictures and reveling in the alien scenery. Driving the 4Runner across the salt felt
like driving on mars, and dry salt was perfect for driving and taking epic drone shots..

The Effect Of Progesterone On The Oral Mucosa Of The...
Bleeding gums are common in pregnancy related to estrogen s effect on the oral
mucosa of the pregnant woman. Estrogen increases the blood flow to the mouth and
gums causing mild swelling; brushing causes friction and the breaking of superficial
capillaries, hence the bleeding. Progesterone too plays a role in this process, in that
progesterone changes the dynamic of the saliva promoting bacteria growth in the
mouth, increasing the woman s potential of developing gingivitis (Demma Grace,
2015; Jordan, 2014).
Relief measures for bleeding gums in pregnancy are that of reassurance that this is a
common condition in pregnancy and that it is normal. Encourage the woman to
continue to brush and floss regularly, and ensure she is using a soft bristle brush.
Also confirm that she is continuing with the recommended cleaning schedule of her
dentist as periodontal disease can increase the risk of preterm delivery (Demma
Grace, 2015; Jordan, 2014).
Hyperpigmentation of the Skin
Hyperpigmentation of the skin is one of the most common physiologic changes in
pregnancy. Pigmentation changes are related to the impact of both estrogen and
progesterone on the melanocyte cells within the skin. Areas greatest affected are
those of the areola, genitals, thighs, and underarms; however a linea nigra, a vertical
line along the gravid abdomen is experienced by some women. Women may
experience darkening of freckles, scars, or melasma, also known as mask of
pregnancy . Melasma

Which Alkali Metal Carbonate Abstract:
The purpose of this lab was determining which alkali metal carbonate composes a
given unknown sample by using three different methods. These three methods of
flame test, simple weight loss calculation, and gravimetric analysis method were used
to identify the properties and the molar mass of the unknown given sample. After
doing the previous tests, it was discovered that the metal was Na2CO3 (sodium
carbonate), and the mass of the molar mass was 37.158 g/mol, and the recovery rate
was 95.58%.

The Global Financial Crisis Of Broward College
Research Paper: The Global Financial Crisis
Michelle Beira
Broward College
There have been few financial crises in the United States. The Global Financial
Crisis of 2008 to 2009 was the most recent and before that was The Great
Depression of the 1930s. The Global Financial Crisis actually began in 2007 when
prices of homes tanked. It not only affected the U.S. but it also affected economies
overseas. The entire investment banking industry, some of the biggest insurance
companies, enterprises government used for mortgage lending, top mortgage lenders,
the largest savings and loan companies, and two of the largest commercial banks
were many of the financial sectors affected by the crisis. Banks stopped making loans,
share prices plunged throughout the world and most of the world plummeted into a
recession (The Financial Crisis of 2008: Year In Review 2008, 2009, para. 1).
Globalization of financial markets began after the Depression and World War II. After
the Great Depression and World War II there was much physical and economic ruin
in Europe, Asia and parts of Africa which allowed the U.S. to become a leader in
the world financial system. Top world leaders like France, Germany, Britain and
Japan were economically and financially unstable. The U.S. was the only stable
capitalist country which means it was capable of determining the terms of a new
world economic order ( The 2008 World Economic Crisis: Global Shifts and
Faultlines, 2009, para. 34). The first task in
History Of The 1992 Los Angeles Riots
The 1992 Los Angeles Riots Los Angeles today is widely known for its urban and
constantly changing culture, but 25 years ago, people throughout the nation were
watching the riots and destruction of the city. In 1992, Los Angeles was a place
of chaos and massive rioting so large that people feared even going into the city.
These rebels against society were fighting for five days straight, causing a
disturbance so large that $1.3 billion dollars in damages left the city a burning mess.
The rioters were fighting because of the outcome of the trial of Rodney King s
assaulters, leading to the five day storm of terror and destruction that forever changed
the United States. The 1992 Los AngelesRiots began with the trial of Rodney King s
assaulters, which lead to the beginning and end of the five day riots, leaving a
horrific aftermath that affected people all over the nation and still affects society
even today. On March 3, 1991, Rodney King, a paroled felon from Los Angeles,
led officers on a high speed chase throughout Los Angeles County. Eventually, King
stopped for the officers and surrendered. Blacks, particularly young males,
complained that they were often stopped by police and proned out made to lie face
down with legs and arms spread and palms up for minor traffic violations or for no
reason at all. says Lou Cannon. (Cannon) After resisting arrest, four officers by the

The List Of Pros And Cons Of Human Cloning

The list of Pros and cons of human cloning
Summary: The necessary technology has been created, as evident in the story of
Dolly the sheep. People still pose questions such as the role of God in Society.
Here is a list of pros of human cloning : It could eliminate defective genes , It is
considered as the logical next step in the reproductive technology, It could aid in
faster recoveries from injuries, it gives a new meaning to genetic modification. As all
things human cloning also has cons. Here is a short list of those cons : it risks the
possibility of faster aging, it can bring forth a reduced sense of individuality, it can
cause a divide among people and it might decrease the overall value of human
life.(Pao Chang, 2016) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Summary: surveys of people s attitudes towards human reproductive focusing on only
moral judgements alone, not on emotional reactions or sentiments. As people already
have widespread negative emotions, like disgust, that provide a moral guide to their

method is used to study the measures of self reported attitudes and emotions towards
cloning. Most participants condemned cloning( as predicted) said that it is immoral
and it should be banned. Some reported positive sentiment. Participants mostly felt
interested and anxious about human reproductive cloning. They did not feel
disgusted. This shows that are willing to give a shot.

The source is very valid source as the researcher has high credentials, the researcher
has a PhD in human psychology and the he quotes people with high credentials such
as a Nisbet MC. Who has credentials in stem cell research and Dr Sheperd R how
did a psychological study on the different sets of people. The conclusions that the
researcher made are logically derived from the evidence from the questionnaires.
Thus the source completes what it was set out to do, which is to show the
misconceptions of people.

Difference Between Murder And Second Degree Murder
First degree murder is defined as the killing of someone which is deliberate and
premeditated. Premeditated means to plan the killing such as waiting for the person
to return home to kill them or to poison them.
The difference between first degree murder and second degree murder is very
simple. First degree murder is a planned killing. For instants, Victoria comes home
and finds her husband in bed with Shelly. A few days later, Victoria breaks into
Shelly house and stabs her to death for sleeping with her husband. Victoria started to
plan Shelly s murder once she walked on her husband cheating on her with Shelly.
Second degree murder, however, is different. An intentional killing that is not
premeditated, nor committed with heat of passion
Osmosis in Potatoes
AT1 Osmosis In Potatoes
Aim: Investigate the movement of osmosis through a selectively permeable
membrane, in this case potato.
Introduction: Osmosis is the movement of water through a semi permeable
membrane, separating solutions of different concentrations. The water passes from a
region of high concentration to a region of low concentration, until the two
concentrations are equal in concentrations of water.
Many cell membranes behave as semi permeable membranes, and osmosis is a vital
mechanism in the transport of fluids in living organisms, for example, in the
transport of water from the soil to the roots in plants.
If a cell is in contact with a solution of lower water concentration than its own
contents, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Method After having done our preliminary work, we knew exactly which
measurements we needed to use in order to obtain the correct sort of results. We set
up 14 test tubes, because in order to save time, we intended on doing repeats at the
same time as the original experiments were going on.
For organisation s sake, we set up all of the test tubes at once, and labelled them
individually to avoid confusion later on. Into each test tube, we poured 15mls of
Glucose solution, and added one of the potato chips, each weighing around 1 gram,
and measuring 33mm by 5mm. In order to make it as much of a fair test as possible,
we added the potato chips very quickly, to make sure one chip didn t have a longer
amount of time in the solution than another. We then left each one for 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes, we emptied each test tube, leaving only the potato chips inside.
Before we measured and weighed each chip, we dabbed them with paper towel. If
we had of left excess water on the chips, the weights would not be accurate. We then

Earthman rates temperature, heating and air quality as the most individual elements
for student achievement in learning. A class that is well lit, warm when environment
is cool or cool when it is hot is more suitable to accommodate effective learning.
Furthermore if the classroom is up to date and current technology is available, the
student will keep pace with their peers who have access to this equipment.
Where classes are positioned in a school matters a lot. Class next to staffrooms
where teachers crack jokes can distract the students concentration and learning in
class. Classes should be situated in areas away from paths that distract pupils. An
example is a class next to the main road leading to the main gates will always have
cars; people and this will hinder effective learning because students will always be
staring at anything passing outside instead of listening to the teacher. Police cars that
enter in school will freak out students because they will always be
Homogenous Culture In South Korea
The unique homogenous culture in South Korea is apparent through its major
religions, social customs, and business etiquette. Reviewing these aspects of Korean
culture and using the Hofstede and other cultural framework tools will help
businesses understand how to adapt to the social and cultural climate.
Korean and English are the main languages in South Korea with Korean being the
official state language. Some dialects are regional and mostly attributed to social
status but can be difficult to detect for non Korean listeners. Korea also has one of
the highest literacy rates in the world.
Almost fifty percent of the population has no religious preference as of 2005, a stark
difference to widespread traditional Buddhist practices of fifty years ago.
Approximately 10.7 million Koreans still practice Buddhism, and the remaining
population belong to Christian and other Christian denominations (Commisceo,
2017). South Korea s interesting cultural background directly impacts their language
and religion, and even their business etiquette. The various aspects in the Korean
culture directly relate to doing business and give a better understanding as to how
Koreans behave in a professional environment.
First, body language and facial gestures are an important part of the Korean local
culture. Koreans pay close attention to the face of someone that they are directly
communicating with. If a smile is weak or if their eyebrows are not peaked when
they are laughing, it is a sign that
Essay about Deserting Washington’s Army
Deserting Washington s Army
With the Revolutionary War set to begin, the recruitment of soldiers was fully on.
Reasons to enlist in the Continental Army were quite candid for numerous
individuals. Motives ranged from looking for a fresh start to wanting to honor
friendship/family, or even for the sole purpose of securing regular pay. Many looked
to reap the benefits that were promised to them for enlisting in the army. As the
Revolutionary War waged on for years to come, soldiers of the Continental Army
continued to battle, not only the British, but the many hardships that came their way,
as well. By 1780 the number of soldiers abandoning their posts/camps had greatly
increased due the number of hardships they encountered. Even ... Show more content

A recruiting hand bill by George Washingtonhimself even stated that those who
enlisted in the Continental Army would receive a bounty of Twelve dollars...and
sixty dollars a year in GOLD, as well as handsome clothing and a large ration of
provisions. With every advertisement similar to this one, in which enlistment is
claimed to be accompanied with incentives (usually money or land), empty promises
were soon to follow. This was a strong driving force that led men to desert their posts
because most soldiers were not getting paid what they had been promised. James
Kirby Martin even alludes, in his book Ordinary Courage, to the fact that 100 acre
was promised to veterans, but that land never materialized for most of them. He
addresses this in context stating, The truth was, none cared for them; the country
was served, and faithfully served, and that was that was deemed necessary. It was,
soldiers, look to yourselves; we want no more of you. I hope I shall one day find
land enough to lay my bones in. If I chance to die in a civilized country, none will
deny me that. A dead body never begs a grave; thanks for that. Especially with
monetary inflation being high during the time of the war, many soldiers deserted
the army in order to provide for their families back home. The buying power of the
new Continental dollar falls 90% and a number of food riots breakout due to the

The Contributions Of Freud And The Case Of Sigmund
Freud
Sigmund Freud, the father of psychoanalysis, is predominantly recognized as one of
the most influential and authoritative thinkers of the twentieth century. Freud gave a
broad perspective on things involving dreams, religion, and cultural artifacts while
still focusing on different states of the mind, such as unconsciousness. Freud also
relied on a local sexual repression issue to create theories about human behavior. His
theories and ideas of psychoanalysis still have a strong impact on psychology and
early childhood education today. Freud s most important claim is that with
psychoanalysis he had invented a new science of the mind, however, remains the
subject of copious critical debate and controversy. Sigmund Freud was born... Show

Freud believed that people could be cured by making conscious their unconscious
thoughts and motivations, which will allow one to gain insight. The aim of
psychoanalysis therapy is to release repressed emotions and experiences. For
example, making the unconscious conscious. Freud had a massive impact on the
way people viewed mental illnesses during the First World War. During this time,
many psychoanalysts were drafted into war efforts, as physicians or as psychiatrists,
due to the rise in war neuroses. Many psychiatrists at the time believed that when
soldiers showed symptoms of constant nervousness, nightmares, and traumatic
memories of war experiences, they were merely cowards trying to escape combat.
During the First World War, this perception started to change and people began to
think that these symptoms were signs of real psychiatric problems. Shortly after,
Freud created a model of the mind called the Psychic

The Problems With College-Entrance Testing Essay
One of the most stressful experiences for a high school senior is the search for the
college. So once these senior students finally develop a plan, why is it that they may
not be able to achieve what they desire? Colleges and universities today are
becoming more and more competitive, sometimes to the point of exclusive. With that
it is fair to say that entrance to certain schools may be more difficult and extensive
than the others based on popularity and demand. When this happens, colleges are
looking for the best of the best in academics, the student who will represent and be
the best for their institution. So what is the determining factor for college acceptance

Since it is almost impossible to have any one on one work with students, the students
at the low end of the spectrum will have the most amount of time, if any, to work
individually with teachers. This leaves the advanced students unchallenged with the
same tasks that they have already mastered. Teaching to a test results in multiple
disadvantages for students. Educators also know that certain curriculum will be on
these tests, so that is what will be focused on in the classrooms. The curriculum for
these tests limits teachers on what they are allowed to teach as well as anything they
can teach outside of the core curriculum. The core curriculum being taught is what
will be found on standardized tests. When teachers have to stress these core subjects,
they are not able to teach any additional material that they would like to. Students
will not have the opportunity to learn about astronomy, for example, because they are
too occupied with memorizing elements of scientific formulas. While it is important
that students have an exceptional knowledge of core curriculum, they should not be
limited to just that. Electives and advanced classes are options for students who
already have a decent grasp on core curriculum and want to broaden their education.
However, standards for these advanced classes are being limited and making
educators go over the same curriculum again to improve test scores even more. For
example,
Finding The Teachers Perception About The Giftedness...
III. Methods 7 My goal is to discover the teachers perception about the giftedness in
early childhood. I will conduct a qualitative study to comprehend how preservice
early childhood education teachers identify giftedness in early years and how they
construct their perceptions during their student teaching experience. Applying
qualitative research will enable me to grasp array of perspectives and multiple
interpretations of the individuals regarding the issue I am investigating (Glesne,
1999). Researcher Reflexivity Everything started when I realized my
misconception about one of my students. Let s start from the beginning of my short
but eye opening teaching career. It was seven years ago, when I started working as
a kindergarten teacher in a public elementary school in my country, Turkey. I had
several internship experiences for four semesters in different settings such as in a
kindergarten, a preschool, and a Montessori classroom during my bachelor degree, I
finally had my own classroom that I can mold and educate my students based on my
paradigms. Even without knowing the paradigms as much as I comprehend right
now, by just knowing the eminent child development theorist and their theories, I
always believed that every second of child s life can be utilized as a teaching
moment to help them to construct their knowledge. Therefore, most of the activities I
created were coming from my students interest. Even though I had a little bit crowded

giving recommendations to the federal government on steps to be taken for equality
across ethnicities. The primary recommendation was for the implantation of a policy
for official bilingualism, making both English and French of equal importance in
Canada (Language rights and judicial wrongs: Official bilingualism jurisprudence in
Canada s provincial courts. Pg 11). The report also recommended that bilingualism
be increased in all of the provinces. Once Pierre Trudeau gained office one of his
first things on his agenda was to bring in the Official Languages Act (OLA) in 1969,
making both French and English equally recognized in Canada. Trudeau did not
support the nationalists in Quebec with their goal of separatism and this was his way
to make French Canadians feel they were of greater importance to the county
(Language rights and judicial wrongs: Official bilingualism jurisprudence in Canada s
provincial courts. Pg 12). Trudeau saw that this policy should strengthen national
unity in Canada through various ways. It was thought that making the French
speaking of equal importance as the English speaking in Canada it would reduce the
rising pressure coming from Quebec to separate from Canada.. The bilingualism was
also a hope that across Canada communications would become easier due to the

Who Am I Am Essay
PASSport Essay #1 The question who am I ? Can have a lot of individuals thinking
about themselves, including myself because one might not know where to start. It
is a very broad question, but having done the Strengths Finder 2.0 assessment, I
realized more in depth what kind of person I really am based on my top 5 strengths.
Who I am as a learner, who I am in my career and who I am as a person of faith lead
me to answering the question above and understandingmore of myself within. First
off, who I am as a learner has changed over the past years. At times before, I wouldn t
take certain classes or assignments seriously and have learned my lessons when I
failed. I believehaving classmates at the time who weren t as focused as I wanted to
be, played a big role in my lack of understanding in classes. I understood later that if I
felt learningwas so important to me, I need to realize that it is my future and I
needed to focus on my own. Having learner in my top 5 strengths defines me very
well. Rath (2007) explains that, The process, more than the content or the result, is
especially exciting for you (p.133). I believe this defines me as a learner because I
enjoy having books in hand, opening up my notebook to write notes and learning
new ways to understand the class. Regardless if the content is something I have to
get in to or if I don t do well on tests, I enjoy the process of studying and learning
more even when I know I didn t do so well; that is what motivates me. I believe as
long as I keep this mindset and understand that this is my strength, I will continue
to grow and further my education as much as possible. Even though I have failed a
few of my last classes, I never let that stop me from continuing. Knowing that I
have failed makes me realize I know I can do better and I try my hardest not to let
it get me down. I will not get further if I don t keep trying and as a learner I am a
motivator to myself in my studies. When it comes to who I am in my career, a few
of my strengths shine through more than others. For example, I put everything I
have in to my work and into my career, and looking back at how I ve worked in the
past compared to now, I see my strengths restorative and developer.
Utopian Societies Impact
Utopian communities have had an incredible impact on both American society and
various recognized religious sects throughout the United States as a whole. Many
people saw, and still see, democratic government as unfair, leaving the poor behind to
become poorer while the rich continued to get richer; they felt a change in work and
fairness was officially in order. Utopian societies were created with commendable
intentions, and their idea of the perfect cooperative society is an attractive
conference, but they were all considered experiments because they all declined
swiftly and hopelessly. The western concept of utopias stem in the age old world,
where fables of a carnal arcadia lost to history, linked to the human ambition to build
an ideal community, abetted in forming the utopian notion ( Utopias in America ).
Ideal communities have varied considerably in philosophy and design, and maybe not
all have been persistently utopian in the draconian understanding of hoping to
achieve a system for a perfect community. Utopian communitarianism seems to have
deeper roots set in the United States than in Western Europe, more specifically in
actually putting philosophy into practice. This composite mental image may appear
misplaced in a nation with an intense admiration towards individuality, but the
perseverance amongst these societies brings to light quite a bit about the incredibly
diverse American culture, notably how the sexes have thought of cultural
advancement and how

for Santana might include: substance abuse assessment and treatment, domestic
violence education (adolescent/cultural component), ESL services, anger

They Live By John Carpenter Essay
In the 1988 science fiction film They Live, filmmaker John Carpenter addresses and
criticizes homelessness among other issues of the times in the United States.
Through the movie, John Carpenter immerses his audience into his vision of what
the 1980 s American culture is. Political views portrayed mainly come from the
disdain Carpenter feels towards Reagan s policies. He portrays the American people
as a naГЇve people who are consistently deceived by a corrupt social and economic
environment. Their abusers are portrayed as aliens who have control over them.
Carpenter shows that average American citizens are under governmental control and
are taught through subliminal messages such as conform , obey , watch television ,

His plan of action called for a market that was free and deregulated, rather than
government assisted. The budget for pubic housing was cut in half Reagan s first
year in office, and throughout his presidency, he attempted to put a stop to
housing assistance entirely. By 1985, there were only 5.6 million low cost
housing units available, while there were nearly 9 million people who needed
access to these households. This lead to the homeless legacy of Reagan; the late
1980 s saw a great increase in the number of homeless individuals, many of which
were veterans and laid off workers. (2) On a talk show in 1984, President Reagan
tried to defend himself stating, People who are sleeping on the grates...the
homeless...are homeless, you might say, by choice. This offensive statement of
blaming the poor for economic problems only made those who were against him,
more outspoken in their ridicule. Economic prosperity was credited to Reagan.
However, the growth that occurred mostly benefited those who were already in
favorable circumstances. The income gap grew between the classes and poverty rates
increased. Cities with rent control, on average, have two and a half times more
homeless people as cities without them. This is an example of how governmental
control has a negative and severe impact on the people. When rent control is
imposed, homelessness increases by 250 percent. Even during a time of 7
Head Cook At Weddings And Funerals Characters
In the short story, Head Cook at Weddings and Funerals by Vi Plotnikoff, Marusa is
a young, independent girl who is driven to get what she wants. She is the epitome of
perfect in some eyes, however we find out that her character is much more than just a
pretty face. Though she is a flat character and we do not know much about her, she
undergoes an important change caused by a conflict, thus becoming a dynamic
character.
Growing up, we are expected to follow many traditions. Marusa s mother, Aunt
Florence, expects Marusa to marry into a good family because she knows her
daughter will be taken care of for the rest of her life. (1). Aunt Florence expects
Marusa to wear a dress that she made; but Marusa stubbornly refuses to do so.
Without telling others, she buys a dress that she likes using her fiancГ©s money, thus
starting a conflict. This conflict breaks down her strong and superior façade,
therefore changing our perspective of her character. ... Show more content on

What is the difference between recruiting and retaining skilled labour and unskilled

Skilled Labor
Skilled labor refers to labor that requires workers who have specialized training or a
learned skill set to perform the work. These workers can be either blue collar or white
collar workers, with varied levels of training or education. Very highly skilled
workers may fall under the category of professionals, rather than skilled labor, such as
doctors and lawyers. Examples of skilled labor occupations are: electricians, law
enforcement officers, computer operators, financial technicians, and administrative
assistants. Some skilled labor jobs have become so specialized that there are worker

After enrollment into the program was complete, HARRIS nor MCGHEE presented
HILL with any questions of how the program worked, timesheet approvals or

face to face monthly visits which lasted about 40 minutes. Changes in the need for
services may be due to an admission to the hospital, a long term nursing facility or
relocation to another state.
During HILL s second home visit to HARRIS residence, she told both HARRIS and

Symbolism In Trifles By Susan Glaspell
The short story Trifles by the author Susan Glaspell, she writes about a woman who
may or may not have murdered her husband because she felt as though he was to
blame for her boring life. The women in the play, Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters, are
the ones solving the murder, while the men, the county attorney and sheriff, and are
questioning things also trying to figure things out. In this story there was a lot of
symbolism used as clues to show Mrs. Wright way of knowing that only the women
she knew may be the only ones to figure out. The objects that were used as well
known symbols were Mrs. Wright s apron, the quilt, and bird. The first example of
symbolism seen in the playis that Mrs. Wright was going to knot the quilt .... Show

When the investigators were going through the kitchen looking for evidence they
came across Mrs. Wright s food that had frozen and gone bad. Later when the
women were alone in the kitchen Mrs. Hale noticed that there was one jar of
cherries that were still good. The single jar of cherries that was not broken, may
symbolize the one and only remaining clue/ secret, the motive to complete the
investigators case. The jar represents Mrs. Wright and how she stayed on the shelf,
alone and befriended on the farm, until the darkness of her marriage, her life in
general, fell apart. This shows that Mrs. Wright s secrets were out from all the
pressure. She could no longer take living with Mr. Wright because she was too
lonely and sad. The only people who came to understand this were the other women
because of the female bond that most women have. The similarities between Trifles
and Legally Blonde underline the continuity in women s issues: the importance of
sisterhood, the need to provide options for the disadvantaged or abused women, and
the destructive potential of the devaluation of women by men (Marsh 3). A
relationship that a woman has with another woman is important so that the fact that
Mrs. Wright didn t just tell the others is shocking, that Elle was defending Mrs.

not only that she killed a man in this case her

cooperation through what fever itself serves them, also Eliza, Mattie, Nell, and the
twins show the most cooperation throughout the book.
The first theme is fever cooperation. An example of this is when mother was sick with

in alleviating symptoms while discussing how each treatment functions to facilitate

89). To them, acting and thinking this way is the only way to minimize the anxiety
that they feel. The symptoms associated with OCD are commonly theme based.
For example, someone with an obsession for cleanliness may compulsively clean
and put things in order (Myers, 2010, p. 612). They may also wash their hands to
the point of rawness, or continually use sanitizers and other chemicals to kill germs.
While the compulsions between these individuals differ, the theme here is
obviously cleanliness. Other examples of themes could be any of the following:
worry of pending disasters, unwanted aggressive or sexual images haunting your
thoughts, or even something as seemingly harmless as continually checking on
things. With so many diverse symptoms that seem to share some commonality,
researchers have been driven to identify possible causes and risk factors. The root
cause of OCD may not be fully realized, but there are a number of theories. Genetic
influence (despite the lack of identification of a specific gene), environmental
contributions in the form of debilitating habits, and a lack of serotonin are the main
theories. Some of the possible risk factors are family history of the disorder and
traumatic experiences. For instance, in the case study of a woman named Sophie who
was diagnosed with OCD, there were many conceivable contributing

Quiet Hero: Secrets from my Father s Past, written by Rita Cosby, is a story of

In this book, Rita speaks about her father s childhood as well as her own; the
difficulties she faced growing up with a strict father whom she felt she barely knew.

This book touched me profoundly. I grew up without my father and met him when
I was 20 years old. Meeting him was very challenging for me because I was
consumed with so much anger and I blamed him for not being there for me. In
reading this book I am able to realize that we do not always get to choose the path
we walk down and sometimes life s circumstances shape the people we become, for
better or worse. This book has made me want to give my own father a chance to
explain to me what his life has been like, so that I might have a better
understanding of who he is. As I continue my journey through school, I am better
able to assess individuals and situations and have a level of empathy without being
judgmental. As children we often feel like we know who our parents are but there
are so many unanswered questions and hidden lives that it makes it difficult for
children to relate to their parents. Each of our paths has impacted us in both
negative or positive ways and being able to understand that this affects the
decisions that we make can make unpleasant situations a bit easier to digest. Seeing
how Rita felt closer to her father as an adult once she got to know him, makes me
feel like there is still hope for my father and I. If Rita s father would have received
help for the trauma he had gone through I believe he could have been a better father

Christianity Of Religion
The term religion is defined as the belief in and worshipping of a power superior to
that of humans. Basically, all religions have the same purpose, but the way this
purpose is pursued can be very distinctive. The approach of these religious traditions
can allow them to become very prosperous and dominate. All religions possess a
cherished text that contains the beliefs and practices specific to those followers. In
order to attain a successful religion, there must be a designated place and day for
worship. Also, it is critical to have a trusted and honorable leader that is able to guide

inch is an A cup, Two inches is a B cup, etc...) making this cup size a C. We have
now determined the size at being a 32C.
Before concluding my demonstration I would like review a couple things we
have learned today. We ve learned there are a large percentage of women who are
wearing the incorrect size bra. The best way to cure this is to get fitted! It only
takes a few minutes and there are many department stores that offer the service free
of charge. We have also learned that bra s should be comfortable and feel as though
you re not even wearing one. This again is achieved by being properly fitted. Fitting
yourself is easy and can be achieved with a couple of measurements and a little bit of
math skills. Just remember band size bust size= cup size! This concludes my
demonstration on bra fitting. I want to say thank you for listening and I appreciate
your kind attention.

Mental Health Care Tv Language Analysis
The Independent and The Telegraph both have produced two articles that strongly
connect to each other. Will Gore and The Telegraph View both express their
opinions as well as the experience that Prince Harry had with mental health through
their writing. Article one by The Telegraph View talks about the amount of people
who have to suffer in silence with their mental health issues and circumstances just
like Prince harry did when his mother tragically passed away. It shows us and
makes us aware about how much service and help it required to help people as it
takes time to fully help someone with this serious health matter. Article two by Will
Gore is about how someone who is well known in the public eye has experience the
relatable issue of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First piece of word choice used by The Telegraph View I have chosen to write
about is stigma which has connatations of branded, label, shame and disgrace. This
shows us that people dont know the true meaning of mental health and think firstly
of the sterotypes that come with it like its just all based around the same thing
which has made is gain a very negative label or brand which is not the case and also
it gives an impression that people dont really think about mental health that much
and dont take it as serious as it should be taken. rife has connotations of common,
global and normal. This shows us that having anxiety is normal and common to
many people around the world and is not unusual as many people will have or will
suffer from this during their lifetime. Finally my last example of word choice is
disorientates which has connotations of lost and confused. This shows us that the
writer is describing technology in the present day as they think it is becoming more
useless as it can be confusing for people and harder to learn about and use especially
in everyday life and work enviroments. The word choice I have metioned show us the
impact of mental health not just to patients but others and what they think about it
and also that technology is becoming much hard and causes
The Protagonist In Bram Stoker s Dracula
Ever since its publication in 1897, Bram Stoker s Dracula has been the base for
countless movies and films. Although each one differs slightly, the initial idea is the
same in most, with Dracula displayed as the mysteriously cunning antagonist of the
plot. While this is an undoubtedly adequate view for some, others prefer to perceive
the infamous vampireas the protagonist, leaving the title of antagonist to the
supposed heroes of the story: Mina and Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing and Co.
Ultimately, there is neither a right nor wrong perspective in regards to any literature;
however, I believe the titles of antagonist and protagonist refer not to two different
characters, but to one: Dracula.
Rarely, if ever, do so many titles assign themselves to one character; however this
seems to be just the case with Bram Stoker s bloodthirsty Count. Not only does
Dracula claim main character, villain, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bram Stoker s Dracula is no exception, and he leaves plenty of room for any
number of opinions with which to view the characters. The definition of
protagonist clearly states: the leading character of [...] literary work; the principal
person in a movement, cause, etc. Usually keeps a concrete goal, and generally
undergoes some change. Other definitions also state that the protagonist often has a
moral weakness which will cause their fall in the end. Depending on one s view
however, this could point to either Mina Harker or to Dracula himself. Supposing
Mina claims protagonist, Dracula would obviously take the place of antagonist, as
he blocks the way to everything she strives towards: a safe and joyful family and
constant friendships. While it may originally be assumed that this placement works
vice versa, with Mina blocking everything the Count yearns for, this is not the
Similarly to the male reproductive system, the female...
Similarly to the male reproductive system, the female reproductive system is an
intriguing and complex system that contains internal and external structures. Its
external structures consist of the labia majora, labia minora, clitoris, and bartholens
glands which all make up the vagina. These structures all work together to protect the
vagina as well as lubricate it. The vagina is an elastic, muscular canal through which a
baby can pass through during childbirth. The system s internal structures are the
vagina, uterus, ovaries, and fallopian tubes. The uterus is responsible for holding and
nourishing a fetus while it develops during a nine month term. The ovaries are the
structures that make it possible for a woman to reproduce; they... Show more content

As previously stated the process through which follicles enlarge and release a mature
egg into the fallopian tube is most commonly known as ovulation. The ovulation
cycle is divided into two parts with the follicular phase being the beginning part in
which the egg matures. The ovulatory phase then begins during the middle of a
female s menstrual cycle in which cervical fluids increase and become more fertile.
An increase in the LH hormone levels affect the ovarian follicle causing a hole, or
stigma to appear on the surface of the follicle. At this point in the course of
ovulation, the egg is pushed down the fallopian tube into the uterus where it will
wait 12 24 hours to be fertilized by a sperm cell before it disintegrates. The series of
changes in the female reproductive system that include producing an egg and
preparing the uterus to nurture it for nine months is called the menstrual cycle. This
process begins during the pubescent years of a female and ends when said female
goes through menopause. The menstrual cycle is commonly divided into four phases:
follicular phase, ovulation phase, luteal phase and menstruation phase if the egg is
not fertilized. During the first phase of the cycle (follicular phase) estrogen, a female
hormone, causes the endometrium to grow and develop in order to prepare for a
possible fertilized egg. The spike in the estrogen levels cause FSH
User Assistance Paper
User assistance is an important part of any product that helps to improve user
experience with a particular product. Many products that are released for global
markets require that user assistance help and documentation be translated in multiple
languages for specific target locales. This paper presents the process of optimizing
user assistance help content for translationin the following two categories: writing
suggestions and technical considerations.
Writing suggestions 1.Use a style guide. A style guide defines the grammar, syntax
and tone translators should use to facilitate a higher quality of translation and convey
the source content accurately.
2.Develop a terminology glossary. A glossary should provide a comprehensive set of
terminology that includes product names, trademarked terms, ... Show more content

Simplify the written language. To make documents clear and easy to translate, keep
headlines and sub headlines parallel. Use the same term to mean the same thing
throughout the documentation. This can be implemented through the utilization of a
source style guide and glossary.
4.Include universal units of measure. Different countries use different units of
measure. Lack of clearly defined units of measure can cause significant confusion and
costly errors. Therefore, it is important to include both metric and imperial
measurements in the documentation.
5.Include international phone and date formats. Because phone numbers and date
formats vary from region to region, these formats should be displayed correctly in
the source and translated copies of documentation. For example, in the U.S., phone
numbers are expressed as (425) 517 2577. However, international customers also
need to know the country code, which for the US is +1. Thus, displaying the phone
number as +1 425.517.2577 helps international customers. Likewise, many countries
use dd/mm/yyyy. To avoid confusion, it is necessary to indicate clearly which date
format is used or to spell out the
Vampire Diaries Characters
The T.V show The Vampire Diaries is a CW teen drama series that involves danger,
romance, action and suspense. The show is not just about vampires and werewolves,
but it also has other supernatural elements such as hybrids, witches and vampire
hunters. Let s just say that even though it s compared to the Twilight movies, The
Vampire Diariesis an old fashion lovestory where you can expect the unexpected.
Where the audience can also connect with the characters situations. Even though it s
a fictional show, it involves real life situations that an ordinary person can go through.
The producer Julie Plec did a beautiful job with the plot, the relationship of the
characters, how the show itself connected with the audience, and the setting.
Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev), recently an orphan, lives in her hometown Mystic
Falls with her aunt and her younger brother Jeremy, who got involved in drugs after
his parent s death. Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley), is a vampire who later meets
Elena in school and takes an interest on her. Stefan is a good vampire that can
control himself around humans and can survive on animal blood. But he is later
surprised with the arrival of his brother, Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder).
Damon is the opposite as his brother, he is more of a bad boy who doesn t care
what other say and does whatever he wants. Both take an interest on Elena because
she resembles an old love of Damon and Stefan from 19th century. As the show goes
on we see how Elena makes

Kundalini yoga is somehow new to the western; thanks to the famous yoga teacher
yogi bahagan who moved this special kind of yoga to the western in 1996. This
special kind of yoga is somewhat a comprehensive yoga; it works on opening your
heart, building strength and relasing the energy located at the base of your spine.
That is why some people call kundalini yog the yoga of awareness . Kundalini yoga
works on both physical and mental aspects. When you ask yoga instructors or
teachers who teach kundalini yoga what is kundalini yoga? You might find some
different answers but surely they all agree that kundalini yoga is the most spiritual
kinds of yoga. In kundalini yoga you basically focus on breathing and movement.
Kundalini means curled or coiled, some people represent it by a coiled snake, and

Docter Faustus Essay
The truth that ambition and desire for material objects does not always satisfy the
soul is a major theme depicted in Christopher Marlowe s Doctor Faustus. The poem
on page 93, lines 96 113 is the essence of this theme. It describes Faustus meeting,
what he believes, is the icon of perfection. This perfection is a mere human women,
yet, to Faustus, she is worth his life. Marlowe s use of syntaxand diction, allusions
and references, and other literary devicesthroughout this monologue give support to
the theme while adding rich symbolic images.
amp;#9;The first example of diction in the monologue is the use of the saying,
amp;quot;the face that launched a thousand ships amp;quot; (l. 96). This is a
commonly applied expression when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Faustus compares himself to Paris, saying he would allow his native land to
crumble as Troy did in the story of the Iliad. His mentions of Menelaus and Achilles
are as competitors in war. He says he will, amp;quot;combat with weak Menelaus
amp;quot; (l. 105), and amp;quot;will wound Achilles in the heel amp;quot; (l. 107).
These references may make Faustus appear strong, but in fact, they prove his
weakness. First, he describes Menelaus as weak, substantiating that Faustus wouldn t
have to be strong to overpower him. Subsequently he admits that he would wound
Achilles in his heel. It is noted that Achilles heel was the most fragile area of his
body. This, too, confirms Faustus weakness. He couldn t fight a fair battle and win,
so he fought weak and helpless characters. This is symbolic of the state Faustus is in.
Faustus could not fight Lucifer and win. Lucifer was not weak like Menelaus and did
not have a fatal weakness like Achilles. Therefore, Faustus lost this battle, and in turn,
lost his soul. The references to Jupiter, Semele and Arethusa deal with the
metamorphosis that has been apparent throughout the play. While Faustus has made
his own transformation from the beginning to the end of the story, so too have the
characters he describes. Jupiter s transformation was into some inconceivable being
which Semele requested to see. In his transformation, Jupiter killed Semele as she
became incinerated at his sight. Comparable to this myth, Faustus was the

Feedback to Encourage long term improvement and understanding of English Writing
Skill
Introduction Nowadays, English is one of important languages in the world because
it is used as an international language in all fields around the world. From this
reason, it is necessary to know all aspects of this language. Academic English writing
is also an important skill since it is used extensively in higher education and in the
workplace makes English writing ability becomes a necessary skill. However,
many Thai students who don t have good writing ability are not able to write
accurately even English major students. This study will find out the way to
improve writing skill in university students. The researchers believe that one of the
factors affecting the writing ability is the way of giving corrective feedback of
teachers and the feedback can help learners develop their writing skill. There are
two types of corrective feedback which usually found in university writing courses:
written corrective feedback and oral corrective feedback. However, the lecturers
normally use only written corrective feedback in their classes. This teaching strategy
still has a gap that some students don t understand why the mistakes are not correct.
Moreover, this gap of using only one method of using corrective feedbacks cannot
make students improve their writing ability.
Roanoke s Episcopalians Summary
Chapter 1: Roanoke s Episcopalians: Speak to the Children of Israel That They Go
forward
Long before the dominance of the Methodists and Baptists in the South, there was
another denomination that held a religious stronghold over the region, namely, the
Church of England. Virginia s Anglicans had a history in the colony that could be
traced back as far as 1607 to the settlement at Jamestown. Eventually, they would
populate west of the Tidewater region and spread along the Atlantic coast. Virginias
own educational institution, the College of William Mary, played a pivotal role in
educating Southern ministers, many of whom were also Anglican. However, the
American Revolution would prove to be disastrous to the perpetuity of the

The Episcopal Church possesses an important history in its own part as well.
Fortunately, some historians have made excellent contributions to the history of
Episcopalianism in the South, which are relevant to the study of Episcopalians in
Roanoke, Virginia. Rhys Isaac s The Transformation of Virginia, 1740 1790 is a
classic text on Southern religious history, and in Virginian religious history in
particular. Isaac is especially helpful in explaining the disestablishment of the
Anglican Church and the reorganization into the Episcopal Church. But once the
Episcopal Church began, it quickly encountered a crisis of identity, with some
desiring to maintain a high church liturgy, while others, perhaps adapting to the
surrounding religious culture, tiptoed into a low church evangelicalism. Diana
Hochstedt Butler s Standing Against the Whirlwind is effective in its portrayal of
the evangelical influence in the Episcopal Church, which seems to have had an
influence not only in Virginia, but also in Roanoke in particular. Nevertheless,
research from Thomas F. Rzeznik and Peter W. Williams have demonstrated that
Episcopalians were also generally sophisticated and cultured. But even these apparent
privileges did not prevent Episcopalians in Roanoke from facing their share of
struggles. Even still, in the words of Walter B. Posey, [T]his transplanted church
remained close to its traditional faith and ritual, and the same was true in Magic
Essay On Black Friday
Long lines, crowds of people, a million sale signs, standing in below zero weather,
and a bright brand name store feeding materials to consumers is the Black Friday
Tradition. No better way to give thanks by taking all the money in our pockets and
showering it over companies. After devouring a massive meal with lots of turkey,
fighting others over items and being uncivilized citizens is what follows. But why is
it so many Americans indulge in this tradition? Besides the cheap prices on products,
could it be the extensive advertisement drawing us? Or is there a more psychological
explanation? In the article Shopping on Black FridayMakes You Feel Like a Well

Shopping on Black Friday Makes you feel Like a Well Loved Warrior provides a
handful of logical evidence to demonstrate the increased consumer participation
growth on Black Friday. Black Friday is ballooning the ritualistic shopping frenzy
on the day after thanksgiving is now just one part of a $50 billion weekend of
commercial excess that includes Small Business Saturdays and Cyber Monday.
(n.p). As the American society keeps joining in on the holiday sales, Handwerk
creates a point of the competitiveness between companies that do anything to draw
in more money. Not only is there challenges growing among businesses, but within
people too, a survey by the National Retail Federation, about 26 percent of 18 to 24
year olds plan to shop on the holiday itself. (n.p). People of this age are catching on
to the trend faster than others and find themselves building bonds when they share a
common goal. Black Friday is the outlet and excuse for families to gather and buy
each other gifts for Christmas. It s the thrill of the buy, and the method to engage
with close ones to accomplish their goal, on this year s Black Friday, the National
Retail Federation estimates that more that 95 million Americans will rise with the
sun and race through crowded stores competing for the bargains. (n.p.). Handwerk

Media And Gender Roles In The Media
At a young age, children begin to comprehend gender roles, which are a set of
societal norms that determine what is considered acceptable, desirable and
appropriate based on an individual s sex. We obtain these gender associated roles
from various places and one dominant source with direct influence is the media.
Media plays a critical role in influencing genderroles through impacting the career
choices we make, the behavioral patterns we implement in our lives and the sexual
stereotypes we have been conditioned to accept. In the first place, society has
grown to associate certain occupations with a particular gender. One reason this
occurs is as a result of mass media displaying a certain gender occupying a
particular job position more than the other genders. Females are often displayed
on television, magazines and internet sources as occupying positions such as
housewives, nurses, receptionists and teachers. On the other hand, males are
portrayed in roles such as the family s breadwinner, doctors and principles. For
example, in the show I Love Lucy , Lucy is a housewife looking to escape her
domesticated lifestyle. In the process of doing so her ventures quickly turn to
antics, leaving husband Ricky, who is the family s breadwinner, to correct the mess
she creates (Rosie 357). Similarly, in another show called Our Miss Brooks , Miss
Brooks is a teacher who battles with a bossy school principal, Mr. Conklin. These
two sitcoms present females in positions with less

  • 2. Advertising in Baseball Stadiums Introduction Baseball is considered to be America s favorite pastime and has become popular all over the world. This sport is watched by millions of people every time there is a game played. People will go to the stadiums to watch and a lot of fans will watch the game on television. Since there are so many people watching these games, advertisinghas become more and more apart of every baseball stadium due to the amount of exposure a company can receive by using the many types of ads found in a baseball stadium. The stadiums use billboards, fences, green screens, merchandise, airplanes, names of stadiums, and scoreboards as all different ways to advertise a company s product. Billboards Billboards play a huge role at ballparks because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Merchandise Merchandise is probably one of the most common forms of advertising in a baseball stadium. First you have the souvenir shops inside all of the ballparks that sell shirts and hats with the team s logos and the stadiums name on them. This makes the fans a walking advertisement for the stadium and team. Food is the next form of advertising in baseball stadiums followed by beverages. These two go hand in hand with one another because when people buy a hotdog they usually want to wash it down with an ice cold beer. Hotdogs and beer have almost become a tradition in the fact that when you go to ballparks those are the top two items fans purchase the most. Lastly you have the vendors walking around yelling out the name of beer they are selling along with hotdogs and peanuts. For example, Wrigley Field is known for their Old Style beer so when the vendor is yelling out get your ice cold Old Style they are advertising for the beer company and giving them good exposure throughout the game. Airplanes Airplanes are another way marketers reach a large crowd at one time by using fly by advertisements. These were more effective and used a lot more before technology began to take over. Planes are able to pull a large sign behind it with a phrase written in a banner style, which limits what a marketer can
  • 3. Symbolism Of Trees In Speak By Laurie Halse Anderson Throughout the novel, Speak, by Laurie Halse Anderson, there are many examples of symbolism. The one symbol that certainly stands out the most is trees. Trees appear more than once in the novel. First, there is the object she drew for her art project. The trees she tried to create in her art class create a lot of symbolism. Publishers Weekly states that after Melinda s trauma she is barely able to speak, but only through her work in art class, and with the support of a compassionate teacher there, does she begin to reach out to others and eventually find her voice (para. 1). There is also the apple that Melinda cuts open in her biology class. Lastly, there was the dying tree in her parent s backyard. All the trees in this novel have some symbolism toward... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Melinda draws the word tree she says Tree? It s too easy (Anderson, p.12). Melinda thought that making an art project of a tree that had emotion would be easy. She came to find out that it was harder than she had expected. After a week of trying to create her tree out of watercolors, Melinda creates trees that have been hit by lightning. She tries to paint them so they are nearly dead, but not totally (Anderson, pp.30 31). This statement reflects how Melinda feels towards life. After she was raped, she felt as if she was dead. She had no one to confide in and all her friends, and even people who were not her friends, were angry with her for calling the cops. She did not have the courage to tell them the reason she called the cops, because she feared they would no longer think of her the same way. Because of this, Melinda lived a lonely life with no one to talk to. She was not completely dead, but was not living her life to the fullest either. The trees she painted with watercolor are a representation of how she sees her

In his campaign, Trump has stood out on major issues, such as Immigration, 2nd Amendment Rights, Tax Reform, and VA(Veterans Administration) Reform. On VA Reform, Trump has said that any veteran can take their military ID to any doctor for immediate treatment, and that this power to choose will greatly increase the effectiveness of the VA in order to give vets the care that they have earned. According to Trump, income taxes will not be paid by anyone making less than $25,000 as a single person, or $50,000 married, along with simplifying tax brackets to 0%, 10%, 20%, and 25%. Addressing the problem with illegal immigration, Trump believes that there needs to be a wall protecting our borders. In summary, Trump believes in opportunity, and these positions are indicative of that
  • 5. Bonnevelle Salt Flats Swot Analysis Utah: We spent the first day of our trip driving across the high desert of Wyoming towards Utah. While it made for an unusual Easter Sunday, a traditional pot roast and a potato casserole reminded of the family holidays and fueled us for another day of traveling. Day two involved even more driving, with a memorable stop near the border of Utah at the Bonnevelle Salt Flats. The weather was theatrically arid for our visit, despite rain in the region last week. We spent the beautiful sunrise taking pictures and reveling in the alien scenery. Driving the 4Runner across the salt felt like driving on mars, and dry salt was perfect for driving and taking epic drone shots.. • 6. The Effect Of Progesterone On The Oral Mucosa Of The... Bleeding gums are common in pregnancy related to estrogen s effect on the oral mucosa of the pregnant woman. Estrogen increases the blood flow to the mouth and gums causing mild swelling; brushing causes friction and the breaking of superficial capillaries, hence the bleeding. Progesterone too plays a role in this process, in that progesterone changes the dynamic of the saliva promoting bacteria growth in the mouth, increasing the woman s potential of developing gingivitis (Demma Grace, 2015; Jordan, 2014). Relief measures for bleeding gums in pregnancy are that of reassurance that this is a common condition in pregnancy and that it is normal. Encourage the woman to continue to brush and floss regularly, and ensure she is using a soft bristle brush. Also confirm that she is continuing with the recommended cleaning schedule of her dentist as periodontal disease can increase the risk of preterm delivery (Demma Grace, 2015; Jordan, 2014). Hyperpigmentation of the Skin Hyperpigmentation of the skin is one of the most common physiologic changes in pregnancy. Pigmentation changes are related to the impact of both estrogen and progesterone on the melanocyte cells within the skin. Areas greatest affected are those of the areola, genitals, thighs, and underarms; however a linea nigra, a vertical line along the gravid abdomen is experienced by some women. Women may experience darkening of freckles, scars, or melasma, also known as mask of pregnancy . Melasma

The Global Financial Crisis of 2008 to 2009 was the most recent and before that was The Great Depression of the 1930s. The Global Financial Crisis actually began in 2007 when prices of homes tanked. It not only affected the U.S. but it also affected economies overseas. The entire investment banking industry, some of the biggest insurance companies, enterprises government used for mortgage lending, top mortgage lenders, the largest savings and loan companies, and two of the largest commercial banks were many of the financial sectors affected by the crisis. Banks stopped making loans, share prices plunged throughout the world and most of the world plummeted into a recession (The Financial Crisis of 2008: Year In Review 2008, 2009, para. 1). Premeditated means to plan the killing such as waiting for the person to return home to kill them or to poison them. The difference between first degree murder and second degree murder is very simple. First degree murder is a planned killing. For instants, Victoria comes home and finds her husband in bed with Shelly. A few days later, Victoria breaks into Shelly house and stabs her to death for sleeping with her husband. Victoria started to plan Shelly s murder once she walked on her husband cheating on her with Shelly. Second degree murder, however, is different. An intentional killing that is not premeditated, nor committed with heat of passion
  • 13. Osmosis in Potatoes AT1 Osmosis In Potatoes Aim: Investigate the movement of osmosis through a selectively permeable membrane, in this case potato. Introduction: Osmosis is the movement of water through a semi permeable membrane, separating solutions of different concentrations. The water passes from a region of high concentration to a region of low concentration, until the two concentrations are equal in concentrations of water. Many cell membranes behave as semi permeable membranes, and osmosis is a vital mechanism in the transport of fluids in living organisms, for example, in the transport of water from the soil to the roots in plants. We set up 14 test tubes, because in order to save time, we intended on doing repeats at the same time as the original experiments were going on. For organisation s sake, we set up all of the test tubes at once, and labelled them individually to avoid confusion later on. Into each test tube, we poured 15mls of Glucose solution, and added one of the potato chips, each weighing around 1 gram, and measuring 33mm by 5mm. In order to make it as much of a fair test as possible, we added the potato chips very quickly, to make sure one chip didn t have a longer amount of time in the solution than another. We then left each one for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, we emptied each test tube, leaving only the potato chips inside. Before we measured and weighed each chip, we dabbed them with paper towel. If we had of left excess water on the chips, the weights would not be accurate. We then measured the chips in mms because they are a more accurate

Reasons to enlist in the Continental Army were quite candid for numerous individuals. Motives ranged from looking for a fresh start to wanting to honor friendship/family, or even for the sole purpose of securing regular pay. Many looked to reap the benefits that were promised to them for enlisting in the army. As the Revolutionary War waged on for years to come, soldiers of the Continental Army continued to battle, not only the British, but the many hardships that came their way, as well. This was a strong driving force that led men to desert their posts because most soldiers were not getting paid what they had been promised. James Kirby Martin even alludes, in his book Ordinary Courage, to the fact that 100 acre was promised to veterans, but that land never materialized for most of them. He addresses this in context stating, The truth was, none cared for them; the country was served, and faithfully served, and that was that was deemed necessary. It was, soldiers, look to yourselves; we want no more of you. I hope I shall one day find land enough to lay my bones in. If I chance to die in a civilized country, none will deny me that. This leaves the advanced students unchallenged with the same tasks that they have already mastered. Teaching to a test results in multiple disadvantages for students. Educators also know that certain curriculum will be on these tests, so that is what will be focused on in the classrooms. The curriculum for these tests limits teachers on what they are allowed to teach as well as anything they can teach outside of the core curriculum. The core curriculum being taught is what will be found on standardized tests. When teachers have to stress these core subjects, they are not able to teach any additional material that they would like to. Students will not have the opportunity to learn about astronomy, for example, because they are too occupied with memorizing elements of scientific formulas. While it is important that students have an exceptional knowledge of core curriculum, they should not be limited to just that. Electives and advanced classes are options for students who already have a decent grasp on core curriculum and want to broaden their education. However, standards for these advanced classes are being limited and making educators go over the same curriculum again to improve test scores even more. For example,

  • 22. Who Am I Am Essay PASSport Essay #1 The question who am I ? Can have a lot of individuals thinking about themselves, including myself because one might not know where to start. It is a very broad question, but having done the Strengths Finder 2.0 assessment, I realized more in depth what kind of person I really am based on my top 5 strengths. Who I am as a learner, who I am in my career and who I am as a person of faith lead me to answering the question above and understandingmore of myself within. First off, who I am as a learner has changed over the past years. At times before, I wouldn t take certain classes or assignments seriously and have learned my lessons when I failed. I believehaving classmates at the time who weren t as focused as I wanted to be, played a big role in my lack of understanding in classes. I understood later that if I felt learningwas so important to me, I need to realize that it is my future and I needed to focus on my own. Having learner in my top 5 strengths defines me very well. Rath (2007) explains that, The process, more than the content or the result, is especially exciting for you (p.133). I believe this defines me as a learner because I enjoy having books in hand, opening up my notebook to write notes and learning new ways to understand the class. Regardless if the content is something I have to get in to or if I don t do well on tests, I enjoy the process of studying and learning more even when I know I didn t do so well; that is what motivates me. I believe as long as I keep this mindset and understand that this is my strength, I will continue to grow and further my education as much as possible. Even though I have failed a few of my last classes, I never let that stop me from continuing. Knowing that I have failed makes me realize I know I can do better and I try my hardest not to let it get me down. I will not get further if I don t keep trying and as a learner I am a motivator to myself in my studies. When it comes to who I am in my career, a few of my strengths shine through more than others. For example, I put everything I have in to my work and into my career, and looking back at how I ve worked in the past compared to now, I see my strengths restorative and developer.
  • 23. Utopian Societies Impact Utopian communities have had an incredible impact on both American society and various recognized religious sects throughout the United States as a whole. Many people saw, and still see, democratic government as unfair, leaving the poor behind to become poorer while the rich continued to get richer; they felt a change in work and fairness was officially in order. Utopian societies were created with commendable intentions, and their idea of the perfect cooperative society is an attractive conference, but they were all considered experiments because they all declined swiftly and hopelessly. The western concept of utopias stem in the age old world, where fables of a carnal arcadia lost to history, linked to the human ambition to build an ideal community, abetted in forming the utopian notion ( Utopias in America ). Ideal communities have varied considerably in philosophy and design, and maybe not all have been persistently utopian in the draconian understanding of hoping to achieve a system for a perfect community. Utopian communitarianism seems to have deeper roots set in the United States than in Western Europe, more specifically in actually putting philosophy into practice. This composite mental image may appear misplaced in a nation with an intense admiration towards individuality, but the perseverance amongst these societies brings to light quite a bit about the incredibly diverse American culture, notably how the sexes have thought of cultural advancement and how

For example, someone with an obsession for cleanliness may compulsively clean and put things in order (Myers, 2010, p. 612). They may also wash their hands to the point of rawness, or continually use sanitizers and other chemicals to kill germs. While the compulsions between these individuals differ, the theme here is obviously cleanliness. Other examples of themes could be any of the following: worry of pending disasters, unwanted aggressive or sexual images haunting your thoughts, or even something as seemingly harmless as continually checking on things. With so many diverse symptoms that seem to share some commonality, researchers have been driven to identify possible causes and risk factors. The root cause of OCD may not be fully realized, but there are a number of theories. Genetic influence (despite the lack of identification of a specific gene), environmental contributions in the form of debilitating habits, and a lack of serotonin are the main theories. Some of the possible risk factors are family history of the disorder and traumatic experiences. For instance, in the case study of a woman named Sophie who was diagnosed with OCD, there were many conceivable contributing

This book has made me want to give my own father a chance to explain to me what his life has been like, so that I might have a better understanding of who he is. As I continue my journey through school, I am better able to assess individuals and situations and have a level of empathy without being judgmental. As children we often feel like we know who our parents are but there are so many unanswered questions and hidden lives that it makes it difficult for children to relate to their parents. Each of our paths has impacted us in both negative or positive ways and being able to understand that this affects the decisions that we make can make unpleasant situations a bit easier to digest. Although each one differs slightly, the initial idea is the same in most, with Dracula displayed as the mysteriously cunning antagonist of the plot. While this is an undoubtedly adequate view for some, others prefer to perceive the infamous vampireas the protagonist, leaving the title of antagonist to the supposed heroes of the story: Mina and Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing and Co. Ultimately, there is neither a right nor wrong perspective in regards to any literature; however, I believe the titles of antagonist and protagonist refer not to two different characters, but to one: Dracula. Similarly to the male reproductive system, the female reproductive system is an intriguing and complex system that contains internal and external structures. Its external structures consist of the labia majora, labia minora, clitoris, and bartholens glands which all make up the vagina. These structures all work together to protect the vagina as well as lubricate it. The vagina is an elastic, muscular canal through which a baby can pass through during childbirth. As previously stated the process through which follicles enlarge and release a mature egg into the fallopian tube is most commonly known as ovulation. The ovulation cycle is divided into two parts with the follicular phase being the beginning part in which the egg matures. The ovulatory phase then begins during the middle of a female s menstrual cycle in which cervical fluids increase and become more fertile. An increase in the LH hormone levels affect the ovarian follicle causing a hole, or stigma to appear on the surface of the follicle. At this point in the course of ovulation, the egg is pushed down the fallopian tube into the uterus where it will wait 12 24 hours to be fertilized by a sperm cell before it disintegrates. The series of changes in the female reproductive system that include producing an egg and preparing the uterus to nurture it for nine months is called the menstrual cycle. This process begins during the pubescent years of a female and ends when said female goes through menopause. The menstrual cycle is commonly divided into four phases: follicular phase, ovulation phase, luteal phase and menstruation phase if the egg is not fertilized. During the first phase of the cycle (follicular phase) estrogen, a female hormone, causes the endometrium to grow and develop in order to prepare for a possible fertilized egg. The spike in the estrogen levels cause FSH

These references may make Faustus appear strong, but in fact, they prove his weakness. First, he describes Menelaus as weak, substantiating that Faustus wouldn t have to be strong to overpower him. Subsequently he admits that he would wound Achilles in his heel. It is noted that Achilles heel was the most fragile area of his body. This, too, confirms Faustus weakness. Rhys Isaac s The Transformation of Virginia, 1740 1790 is a classic text on Southern religious history, and in Virginian religious history in particular. Isaac is especially helpful in explaining the disestablishment of the Anglican Church and the reorganization into the Episcopal Church. But once the Episcopal Church began, it quickly encountered a crisis of identity, with some desiring to maintain a high church liturgy, while others, perhaps adapting to the surrounding religious culture, tiptoed into a low church evangelicalism. Diana Hochstedt Butler s Standing Against the Whirlwind is effective in its portrayal of the evangelical influence in the Episcopal Church, which seems to have had an influence not only in Virginia, but also in Roanoke in particular. Nevertheless, research from Thomas F. Rzeznik and Peter W. Williams have demonstrated that Episcopalians were also generally sophisticated and cultured. We obtain these gender associated roles from various places and one dominant source with direct influence is the media. Media plays a critical role in influencing genderroles through impacting the career choices we make, the behavioral patterns we implement in our lives and the sexual stereotypes we have been conditioned to accept. In the first place, society has grown to associate certain occupations with a particular gender. One reason this occurs is as a result of mass media displaying a certain gender occupying a particular job position more than the other genders. Females are often displayed on television, magazines and internet sources as occupying positions such as housewives, nurses, receptionists and teachers.
