Disruptive Mood Disorder Analysis
As described in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM 5), disruptive mood
dysregulation disorder (DMDD) is a new diagnosis characterized by chronic irritability that requires
clinical attention. Averna, D Agati, Vicari (2016) emphasize that the prevalence of this type of disorder
ranges from 0.8% to 3.3% with higher rates in preschool age children (as cited in Copeland et al.
2013) p.149. Mulraney et al.(2016) state that the child who received diagnosis of DMDD experiences
symptoms such as irritable/angry mood almost everyday, severe temper outburst for an average of
more than three times per week, and has difficulty functioning at multiple settings which includes
home, school, and with peers. The symptoms must ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aripiprazole is a type of atypical antipsychotics that approved by the US Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) to treat irritability, conduct disorder as well as autism in young patients
between 6 to 17 years old. According to Averna, D Agati, Vicari (2016), aripiprazole has an exclusive
mechanism of action such as having a combination of partial agonism at the D2 and 5 HT1A receptors
and antagonism at the 5 HT2A receptor. For that reason, it leads them to hypothesize the existence of a
possible dose effect relationship of aripiprazole in the treatment of DMDD (pp.149 150). The most
common side effects of aripiprazole/abilify are nausea, headaches, abdominal pain, heartburn, and the
serious side effects are irregular heart beat, tightening of neck muscles and throat, chest pain,
confusion and etc. Since the symptoms of DMDD are more related in the pathophysiology to children
with depression, ADHD, and anxiety disorders, the risks for mania is subsided. Therefore, the
acceptable choices would be selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors and CNS stimulants. In
preliminary evidence proposes that youth with ADHD and DMDD or with ADHD and repeated
aggression respond positively to CNS stimulants with slight risk of manic activation/adverse
emotional effects

Molson s Beer Commercial
Consumption of beer is a deep rooted ritual for Canadians. It is used as a social device to interact with
others and appreciate life with close family members and friends. In this article the author is trying to
highlight the underlying themes such as the studying of symbols, signs and understating their
interpretations behind the great Molson s beer commercial of 2000 I AM CANADIAN! The writer is
analyzing the increase in Molson s market share caused by the ad campaign. Seiler has used historical,
sociological and phenomenological approach in order to understand the various themes. This advert
uses easily identifiable symbols of Canada, such as the flag, the national animal (Beaver) and the
National Hockey League game, to link the audience in understanding what it takes be Canadian! The
great tactic done by the Molson Company was to end this commercial with their top selling beer

Back in the year 2000, this advertisement gained a lot of popularity and made the Molson beer to be
enjoyed while participating in Canadian social cultures such as watching NHL game. As mentioned in
the article, imported beer was preferred over the domestic one. Molson, in its attempt to increase its
market share and target the majority of the population, joined hands with the American Coors beer
company. It makes me wonder what really is the difference between Canada and America now? Does
the binary actually exist in the real world or was it just an attempt by Molson Company to meet their
capitalist means? The message of their commercial today does not reflect their company s value
system. It does not portray the same patriotism it did back in

Familiarity and First Impressions in You Only Get One...
In You Only Get One Chance , journalist Jen Kim addresses the importance of first impressions and
how people are categorized by others within seconds of meeting (2014). She goes on to say that first
impressions are so strongly developed, that they can often make one ignore all information that is
already known to them about that individual (Kim, 2014). Kim bases this assertion with research from
the empirical study, Familiarity increases the accuracy of categorizing male sexual orientation , by
Marco Brambilla, Paolo Riva, and Nicholas O. Rule, published in the peer reviewed Journal of
Personality and Individual Differences (2013). Kim decently reports the methods and results of the
research. Yet like many other journalists, Jen Kim neglects to inform her audience about certain
aspects of the study that are important when analyzing its results. Essential information about the
claim and validities of the empirical study are lost in the journal to journalism cycle (Morling, 2012).
These minor alterations of information should drive the audience to question the accuracy of the
popular press article. Both the popular press article and the empirical study make a causal claim. A
causal claim is a statement that suggests one variable is the cause for the change in the second variable
(Morling, 2012). Kim states that our first judgments of people are so strong, that they often override
what we are told about them, implying that one s first judgments causes one to disregard

Patriotism And Patriotism In World War I
Patriotism in World War I The First World War, a conflict between the Allied Powers and the Central
Powers, began in 1914. The United States did not join the Allied Powers until 1917. The popular
music during the mid 1910s displays the patriotism and nationalism shown by the American people
during the time the United States joined the war. The United States was attempting to stay out of the
war because they wanted to remain neutral and to maintain proper relations with foreign countries, but
nonetheless, they joined because tensions with Germany were increasing and the Zimmerman
Telegram was sent which suggests the idea of Germany becoming allies with Mexico. This was the
starting point of patriotism in the United States because once the people saw war as inevitable, they
began to feel confidence in the capabilities of their country, (Royde Smith). Pieces of sheet music
from this time period include The Fight Is On. Song, by J.R. Shannon and Carl D. Vandersloot;
America Today (Don t Worry Uncle Sam s Alright), by Herbert Moore and W.R. Williams; and When
Woodrow Wilson Takes A Hand, by S.E. Cox. These pieces are the beginnings of the contemporary
American belief that the United States is superior to all opposing powers. The sheet music of wartime,
therefore, reflects the attitudes of the American people throughout this period. The 1918 song, The
Fight Is On. Song, by J.R. Shannon and Carl D. Vandersloot builds on the emotions of the United
States entering into World War I. The cover of the sheet music depicts a soldier fighting for the Allied
Powers, storming into a trench of the Central Powers to attack. The broader scene shown is on a
battlefield, and the background portrays the chaos of war. Above the mayhem shown in this picture is
a true symbol of patriotism: the waving American flag. The song s lyrics target patriotic, pro war
Americans. The denotative meaning of the lyrics is that the United States is going to fight in the first
World War. They are going to bring all of their power and strength to the battle and not stop until the
war is over. The lyrics make several claims that the United States is fighting for their freedom. This is
made clear when the song says, For we are knowing

REPORT ON CONSUMER BEHAVIOR IN SHOPPING MALLS
STUDY OF CONSUMER BEHAVIOR IN SHOPPING MALLS INTRODUCTION Marketplaces in
urban demographic settings attract a large number of buyers and sellers, which can be termed as
market thickness. The co existence of many shopping malls with traditional markets in a marketplace
causes market congestion. This problem may be resolved by developing small kiosks for transactions
and allowing consumers to test out customised products and services from the main stores The growth
of market share for specialised retailers and large departmental stores depends on the size of the
consumer segment in a given urban population. It is observed that consumers buying preferences

Myriad number of literatures is available which have identified various dimensions and concepts of
customers‟ buying and consumption behavior. However, very few literatures are available which have
described about the various constructs of shopping behavior and even fewer numbers of researchers
have focused on Indian Consumers. According to Assael (1987), shopping behavior is the most unique
for behavior which the consumers exhibit. Gifts, clothing, groceries, gifts and household items are
some of the most common type of shopping which consumers indulge in a highly frequent manner.
But according to Dholakia (1999), occasion and motives are also some crucial points which influence
the consumers shopping behavior. For example, for some consumers, shopping is all about getting the
best deal out of bargaining, for some (especially teenagers or the young crowd) shopping is a means of
getting acquainted and interact more with others in a social context and for some it is a way of
breaking out from the regular monotonous professional and personal routine (Reid and Brown, 1996).
It is also possible, that the motives behind two consumers shopping at the same store could be same or
different. Same motives may arise as when the customers look for convenience, shopping experience
etc, whereas motives mat vary as a result of compulsion or by free choice. Compulsion

An Analysis Of Irwin Shaw s The Girls
The Girls in Their Summer Dresses is a short story by Irwin Shaw, which presents readers with a daily
basis relationship situation of a young woman and her husband. The story goes through refined
changes of tone and mood in the dialogue; the narration is done from a dramatic perspective, which
creates suspense and tension. The author lets the story advance through the characters conversation. In
addition, the writer s voice comes in to describe the emotional states, reactions, and tone of voice of
the characters as this shift during the conversations. The dialogue attains a meaningful colloquial tone,
which is mirrored in the dramatic dialogue. This assertion is depicted in the spouse s point of view, the
couple s trust and love for one another, as well as their discussions. From these expressions, the reader
notices jealousy, arrogance, and frustration. Irwin Shaw articulates these illustrations through
character, imagery, and tone.
The main conflict in The Girls in Their Summer Dresses occurs between Michael and Frances, his
spouse of five years. A conflict is a scuffle between contrasting forces. As such, the opposing forces
here are Frances and Michael. As the couple strolls in New York City s streets, Frances remarks that
Michael is looking at other women passing by. As shocking as this comment might be, we get to learn
that Michael s behavior is not a new thing. Nevertheless, it makes Frances feel tremendously sad and
self conscious, despite the fact that she is

How Christianity Interects with Other Religions Essay
In our globalized world we live in today, people are getting more and more connected in all aspects of
life. The internet enables us to exchange thoughts and ideas with people from different continents.
From a Christian point of view, this globalization process also brings different religions closer
together. The issue we are discussing in class is how Christianity interacts with other religions. On the
following pages, I will take a closer look at Christianity and their encounter with Animism, Hinduism
and Buddhism. By examining the following questions, one should have a better idea how these
religions are really defined: Who or what is God, how does life after death look like, and how do these
religions define evil?
To begin with, when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another religion explains God as cowardly, parting from the earth after a confrontation with angry
humans. Some African religions refer to this High God as a superior creator who abandoned the
universe and passed all divine power and responsibility onto the earthly spirits.
In Animistic cultures, life after death plays an important role as well. It accepts death as a rite of
passage into the spiritual realm. The animistic view of life and death are so delicately intertwined that
neither life stage is truly separate from the other; merely two sides of the same coin. For this reason,
there is generally little or no distinction between a god and an ancestor s spirit. Their spiritual duties
and influences are indivisible, as gods are present among the ancestors, spirits, and humans. Sacrifices
are usually made in the ancestor s honor in order to keep peace, wealth, and health in good relations.
Although there is no specific, universal doctrine for the Animistic culture, there are some common
beliefs concerning the afterlife. Because Animism is centered around the concept of an interrelated
spiritual and non spiritual world, Animistic cultures believe that the spirits of those who die continue
to live. Not only does the Animistic culture believe in the continuation of spiritual life after death, but
they also believe in reincarnation. Aside from the

The Woman Of A Woman Essay
Her timid, scared, gentle nature is greatly in contrast with the violent outburst of her mother. Suttree s
reaction to the mother s attack reinforces his view of women: You ghastly bitch, he said, and fetched
her a kick in the side of the head which stretched her out (McCarthy 151). Following this altercation,
Suttree speaks to the sheriff about his wife s family, and his tone and choice of words say quite a bit
about the general view of women from other men of the town. She is only spoken about in relation to
her father, ...the man whose daughter s life you ve ruined, not as her own person. (McCarthy 157)
Time and time again, the women in society are portrayed as far from equal to men. Although Suttree s
relationship with Wanda is one of the only times in the novel that we can infer that he truly cares for a
woman, he does not view her as a peer or equal in any regard. He views her as childlike, naive, and
mostly as a sexual object, fixated on her pointing, young breasts, her smooth skin, and her white
thighs (McCarthy 350). He sexualizes her young body in an almost predatory way, describing her kiss
as child s breath, an odor of raw milk (McCarthy 352). She, on the other hand, is only about 18, and
seems to view him as an important figure and a real relationship, and a way to distinguish her from the
poverty and misfortune of her family. In other words, Wanda represents a source of sexual release for
Suttree, while for Wanda, Suttree literally represents a

The Cold War as it is called was a war that started because of tensions between the United States and
its allies and the Soviet Union and its allies. The tensions that developed were primarily over military,
political, cultural and social ideas that varied greatly between the two nations. Each Nation and its
allies developed a distrust that would last for many years and introduce new military and political
methods that would shape our future.

Stalin thought the USA and Britain had not helped the USSR enough in World War II. They charged

it was the politically, socially and militarily correct thing to do. Because of these strong beliefs the
tensions between the two nations grew stronger, and negotiations grew further apart. The tensions

Why Is Nuclear Waste Bad For The Environment
Lately it seems as if if the Earth has been deteriorating. It is quite common to hear of the impact of the
overuse of energy sources. Because our population has abused the wonderful powers of energy, the
Earth is suffering from the aftermath. Environmental damage being one of its biggest consequences.
The use of energy can have positive effects if society learns how to manage it well. While nuclear
energy can generate plenty of electricity, it can easily be abused. Nuclear energy plants can
unfortunately be preferred targets for terrorists, also producing nuclear waste. Nuclear waste is bad for
the environment because it requires a dumping ground due to the fact that it cannot be processed. If
this continues, there will eventually be no more

Essay about Aristotle vs Plato
Aristotle is considered by many to be one of the most influential philosophers in history. As a student
of Plato, he built on his mentor s metaphysical teachings of things like The Theory of Forms and his
views on the soul. However, he also challenged them, introducing his own metaphysical ideas such as
act and potency, hylemorphism, and the four causes. He used these ideas to explain his account of the
soul and the immateriality of intellect. Prior to Aristotle, philosophers like Parmenides and Heraclitus
argued about the existence of change. Aristotle used the terms act and potency to respond to
Parmenides arguments about change s non existence and bridge the gap between Parmenides and
Heraclitus polar views. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He rejected his predecessor s beliefs that there was only one principle, as he believed that in order for
something to change and not itself be changed in the process it must consist of two principles; one that
changes and one that remains the same. Aristotle believed that these substances were form and matter.
It was Aristotle s claim that form is the constant, unchanging principle in a person. It is because of
form that we have consistency and permanence (Feser 10/27/10). Just as importantly, there is matter,
the principle which allows a substance to be changed and prevents it from being stagnent in one place
or time. It is because of matter that we have change and imperfections (Feser 10/27/10). We can see
the idea of Hylemorphism represented in Aristotle s other doctrine, act and potency. Matter is a things
potential, or its ability to be in potency; while form is a things ability to change matter from potential
to being actualized (Internet Source 1). In response to the numerous metaphysical questions of his day,
Aristotle derived his theory of The Four Causes. These causes attempted to explain the cause or
purpose of something; or the why? These causes are the Formal Cause, Material Cause, Efficient
cause, and Final Cause. The first called the Formal Cause deals with a thing s form which holds its
true nature or essence. Second, the Material Cause explains the matter that a thing is made

Analysis Of Dante s Inferno, By Dante
According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, narrow is defined as limited in extent, amount, or
scope; restricted. In Dante s Inferno, Virgil becomes Dante s role model and leads Dante through the
circles of Hell. Specifically, Virgil shows him what each circle was about. As Dante is going through
the circles of Hell, it becomes prominent that the crimes and punishments get worse the deeper Dante
goes. When Dante walks deeper into each circle of Hell, the rings become narrower, making it more
formidable to escape. Being stuck is not a good situation to be put in, especially at such a young age.

sense of weakness. At the end of the night, I was luckily able to walk out with almost a two hundred
dollar profit from the casino. It felt empowering that I made money in a different way. I was proud of
myself.
The winnings I made from the previous night at the casino had me hooked into wanting to make more
money. It became more of a need than a desire. Instead of returning to the casino, I started watching a
ton of youtube videos regarding how to make quick cash. I studied these videos like it was homework.
As a result from one of the videos, I found myself extremely interested in stocks. Stocks became a
whole new practice for me. It wasn t so much hitting a soft number or standing on a seventeen like
you would in Blackjack. It was more than that. Stocks deal with the economy and fluctuate by the
second. The Stock Market intrigued me with its visual representation, such as the graphs and lines. I

Eudora Welty s The Robber Bridegroom
The Robber Bridegroom, by Eudora Welty, is a folktale that shares the main themes and plots of some
stories by the brothers Grimm. In this book, Eudora Welty, the author intertwines into a parody several
story plots from well known stories and Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty. This story, like most fairy
tales, has a strong and long plot and we encounter many characters who are extremely influential
towards each other.
In the story Clement Musgrove, a planter, meets Jamie Lockhart, a thief, who then saved Clement
from being murdered and robbed by Mike Fink. After having almost been murdered Clement begins to
tell Jamie about his past, his first wife Amalie, who he met in Virginia and was now dead, and his son
who was gruesomely killed by Indians. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After Salome dies he is set free and with low hopes of re encountering his daughter he does and the
story end. Clement is wise and intelligent, but not knowledgeable enough to see how much he is worth
and how he perseveres. He is also very naive for he cannot tell that his wife Salome is torturing his
daughter and if he does he does not take care of the situation. As for Rosamond she shares some
common traits with her father.
Rosamond is a young, beautiful, golden haired girl, who shares common traits with many Grimm
characters such as Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty. She like any other princess is mistreated by the
stepmother, often manipulated and very naive. Rosamond is the house slave and though they do own
servants her evil stepmother always find a way to sabotage Rosamond. She like all princesses allows
herself to be ridiculed and hurt but their forgiving instincts are larger than their common sense. When
Jamie, the thief, takes away Rosamond s virginity we see that throughout she just forgives him and
does not pay too much attention, a pattern found in Beauty and the Beast when Belle was mistreated
by the beast. In the end, Rosamond forgave and married

Comparison Of Freud And Jentsch s Concept Of The Uncanny
In 1919, Sigmund Freud, the father of psychoanalysis, published his own psychological
investigation on the notion of uncanny. Previous studies were conducted on this subject by the
German psychologist Ernst Anton Jentsch, and served as the starting point for Freud s analysis.
However, the feeling of uncanny was not an easy concept to identify. Jentsch concluded that it
fits in the area of the fear of the unfamiliar and intellectual uncertainty. Freud, with some
opposition to Jentsch s investigation, took it further from what Jentsch concluded. Freud
theorizes that the uncanny is that class of terrifying which leads back to something long
known to us, once very unfamiliar. (Freud, 1) Coraline by Neil Gaiman as well Harry Potter by
J.K Rowling include examples of both Freud and Jentsch s concept of the uncanny .
Firstly, the etymology of the word uncanny is informative. In English, its etymology is
straightforward. The meaning of the word is like the antithesis of heimlich...meaning familiar ,
native , belonging to home . (Freud, 2) To be canny is to be good at dealing with things.
Contrary to canny, uncanny are things which we can not comprehend or believe. To us humans,
many things are frightening, yet familiar: spiders, snakes, height, failure, loss of loved ones,
driving, etc. These are not uncanny because we understand loss, discomfort, and death. When we
are faced with these situations we know why we are frightened, but that

Narrative Essay On My First Day In High School
My freshman year in high school was the rough compared to the normal high school things. On
August 12, 2013, I almost lost my best friend; he had smoked for twenty some years when he had a
devastating heart attack. I remember the fear and the thoughts of death that made my skin shiver. It
was the second week of school on Tuesday when I got a pass at the beginning of my World History
class when I got a pass with immediately circled three or four times. The pass made me very confused
considering I didn t know of any appointments I had, and I didn t ask my mom if I could go home
early. Leaving the class and entering the empty hall, thinking about what s going on as my footsteps
echoing through the halls. What s going on? Why would I be leaving this close to the end of school?
As I walked past the office to my locker, I saw my mom with red eyes and purple bags under her eyes.
At that moment, my stomach flipped and knotted up, because it s at that moment when I realized
something very wrong has happened. My pace quickened to the point of almost running; shoving my
French one book and Algebra one in my backpack before sprinting to my mom. She met me by the big
glass doors in the lobby of the office; laying a hand on my shoulder she told me my dad had a major
heart attack. I had felt my body instinctively lunged toward the door, but my mom held my shoulder
tight. As we walked to the car, my sister was in the front seat with her hair all messy in a bun and in
her pajamas. She

The city of Petra was significant to the Nabatean people because of what it was able to provide them.
The two main things the city provided was an abundance of water and it was at the intersection of two
commercial trade routes. One extended west from Asia, and the other extended north from southern
Arabia. They were able to harness the supply of rainfall and the desert springs to the extent that they
had enough water for 100,00 people. They accomplished this through an intricate system of cisterns,
pools and waterways that captured and transported an estimated twelve million gallons of fresh spring
water daily. Flowing through these trade routes was an estimated twenty five hundred camels

Support For Children s Physical Development
Unit 166 Support others to promote children s physical development in an early years setting
Because of research Physical development is part of the three prime areas of learning in the EYFS,
joining Communication and Language and Personal, Social and Emotional Development, these three
areas are particularly important for the learning development of the under threes, this will Secure the
foundations for future success in all aspects of their life and learning. Early year s providers and
practitioners are required to enable their environments to ensure that they are giving the children
quality experiences and resources to allow them to naturally learn and develop the physical skills
necessary to support them throughout their lives. At our nursery we follow the EYFS guidelines which
give us the approximate age and what the child should be able to do or aiming towards and what us, as
practitioners should be supporting the child to achieve or help them to move on to the next stage.
Providing Physical play experiences for the children such as books to explore, messy play, painting,
climbing equipment and balls and other equipment to throw, kick and catch will give the children
opportunities for moving and handling.

Gregor Mendelian Theory Of Genetics
Genetic traits which are derived from the rules of inheritance proposed by Gregor Mendel are referred
to as Mendelian. After a series of experiments in his garden with pea plants he came to discover the
basic principles of heredity which have now formed the foundation to genetics; he noted certain traits
appeared within offspring in predictable patterns. These principles include the law of segregation
which states offspring receives an allele coding for the same trait from both parents and the law of
Independent assortment, declaring alleles passed on from parents are independent thus the inheritance
of one gene does not influence the inheritance of another gene.(Genetics generation, 2017). So if an
allele coding for blue eyes is inherited this does not influence the probability of receiving an allele
coding for blonde hair.
Mendel crossbred pea plants over many generations differing in single traits such as height and from
his observations was able to conclude that traits expressed in offspring depend on the type of allele an
individual receives from each parent because although 2alleles are inherited, only one is expressed.
His law of dominance proposes traits are either dominant or recessive; dominant traits requiring one
copy of the gene whereas recessive must have 2 copies of the allele present in order for the recessive
trait to be expressed.
He explained the disappearance of one of two the traits present in the chromosome by supposing one
of the traits to be

Examples Of Greed In Mcteague
Written in 1899, Frank Norris novel, McTeague serves as a view of societal factions of his time
period. Norris illustrates the stratification of society in this San Francisco community by using the
concept of Social Darwinism. He gives detailed accounts of the inner workings of society along with
the emotions of the time. Through his characters, Norris shows the separation of classes and the greed
that grew abundantly during the late 19th century. He also gives a grim picture of survival in his
depiction of the theory of natural selection.
In the first chapter, Norris paints a picture of a town setting. He describes Polk Street as

The Pros And Cons Of Evaluating NASA
You are the same age as the universe, because matter can never be created or destroyed. NASA will be
fifty eight years old tomorrow, October 1, 2016. Since the start of the NASA program, in October of
1958, we have had many different projects to explore and discover more about what is around our
world. Many criteria that can be used to evaluate NASA, and these criteria are past tragedies, past
successes, theories for travel, type of transportation, funding, popularity, reputation, long term impact,
short term impact, and scientific discoveries. NASA has had three major past tragedies that still linger
over the program today. The first major tragedy for NASA came at a fragile time. During the start of
the Apollo program three astronauts who were scheduled to be sent into orbit on Apollo One died from
a fire. This fire started from an electrical failure in their simulation practice pod as the three men,
Virgil I. Grissom, Edward H. White II, Roger B. Chaffee, were inclosed in the pure oxygen chamber.

Coexistence of Equality and Inequality under the Social...
Political theories abound, considering many parts of society and the body politic. John Locke was one
of the first to expound on the origins of property, and sixty six years later Jean Jacques Rousseau
would also address the issues of property and inequality. According to Locke and Rousseau, the social
contract is sanctioned by formal equalities yet creates or gives way to inequalities after it is formed.
Though Locke would argue that inequalities in the private sphere don t fall under the jurisdiction of
the government, Rousseau would say justice gets deformed through inequality. Understanding how
both equality and inequality can be present under the terms of the social contract is important because
we cannot understand how to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since everything was owned in common at first, Locke argues that individuals appropriate property
when they add their labor to something owned in common and therefore improve it. Locke would also
say that you don t just get to take as much as you want, but that there must be as much of and as good
of left for others. Locke also defines the public and private sphere(how/what is he defining it through?
Through him talking about slavery etc paragraph 85, 89 ). Political relationships are made between
equal men, and these relationships (civil society) cannot be dissolved. The establishment of civil
society established equality among men because each had to agree to it. Each man equally gives up
some rights, and equally receives the same protection from the sovereign. The civil society, as an
entity, makes a contract with the sovereign and in so doing, resigns the power to judge in their own
case to the sovereign. According to Locke, the whole point of civil society was to ensure that each had
their own property so that there was prosperity. For Rousseau, the first sign of inequality is when
people begin to be more highly regarded based on overall physical appearance and ability; from these
first preferences, vanity, contempt, shame, and envy were born. As soon as one man realized it was
beneficial to have the assistance of another, equality disappeared, property came into

The Idea Of Evolution In A Brave New World
The definition of evolution is a change in the heritable characteristics of biological populations over
successive generations. This is true all around us with developments in many species of animals and
plants as humans shape a new world, but with a topic so broad can one sentence truly define what
happens next in multiple different species. If you dissect this it specifies a heritable change in a
biological population, but what if the next step in life is not technically alive?
Over the years we have grown from microscopic organisms to a species with superior mental
development, articulated speech and have even managed to spread ourselves across Earth. We have
done what was previously thought impossible by being able to edit our own genetics and even
program robots to do simple everyday tasks for us. The real question is what is our next step, every
step of evolution so far from australopithecus to our current form of humans we have advanced and
grown to become a smarter version of our previous selves and in doing so eliminated multiple
competing species. To advance from our current beings we most likely have three options. Those
options include changing our own DNA enough( both overall population and in the amount of change)
that we are turned into a new species or we could be replaced/ overthrown by a new generation of
artificial intelligence that is smarter than us. The last option is mass extinction by either a worldwide
natural disaster or the process of exhausting

The Evolution Of Pointe Shoes
Pointe shoes are the symbol of the ballerina and they have had a huge impact on the history of dance.
They are way more complex than what we tend to think and throughout this essay we will go over
their creation, how they re structured, and how they impacted ballet.
In the early 1700s, the technique of ballet developed rapidly and incorporated a new emphasis on
graceful foot technique. In 1726, Marie Camargo debuted at the Paris Opéra Ballet in a performance
of Les Caractères de la Danse, dancing in slippers instead of heeled shoes. She had also shortened her
stage skirt to show off the turnout of her legs and feet as well as her bas de jambe during entrechats.
After the French Revolution in 1789, emphasis was placed on the functional aspect ... Show more

This resulted in a demand for more elaborate pointe shoes. A wide range of designs were on the
market: from soft block shoes, which are designed for transition from soft shoes to pointe shoes, to
extremely hard shoes, which give extra strength, to machine manufactured rehearsal pointes for dance
students operating on a smaller budget. About thirty five ballet shoe manufacturers, such as Freed,
Grishko, Bloch, Capezio, and Gaynor Minden operate in the market. At the end of the twentieth
century, the fashion industry picked up the idea of ribbons and look alike pointe shoes, and designer
brands such as Manolo Blahnik, Sonia Rykiel, Etro, and Blumarine have used the pointe shoe style to
create ballerina fashion shoes.
At the beginning of the nineteenth century, an increasingly challenging ballet technique, en demi
pointe, allowed dancers to carry out multiple pirouettes and jumps. While men were identified as
playing a secondary role in the performance, from this point onward ballerinas rose to the toes and
contributed to a new dance aesthetic. This overt emphasis on the lightness of dancers was reflected by
Marie Taglioni, who appeared sur les pointes in the first performance of La Sylphide in 1832. Some
early examples of pointe shoes from this period are exhibited in the Haydn Museum in

Caged Bird Analysis
The role of voices in text is to give meaning and to highlight the composer s attitudes and beliefs.
Maya Angelou s politically complex voice in Caged Bird explores her belief in the human rights for
equality, and the freedom for every individual regardless of race or creed. Paradoxically Bruce Dawe s
satirical and judgmental voice in Enter without so much knocking (Knock) conveys his criticisms of
society s shallow meaningless life. Caged Bird by Angelou makes the audience reconsider the real
conditions of the free bird and the caged bird . This contrast between the birds throughout the poem
enables her to explore the issues of freedom and isolation in African American society. Angelou
utilises various literary devices and techniques such as repetition, irony and imagery to convey her
attitudes and beliefs about the beauty of freedom. Repetition is used when the poem repeats the third
stanza at the end of the poem to further emphasis freedom, this reflects the two birds that are different.
for the caged bird sings of freedom is the last line of stanza three conveying an important message to
the readers, that the caged bird wants to be free. This allows the reader to conclude that every
individual should be aware and thankful for the freedom in their society. Although less direct in
conveying Angelou s attitudes and beliefs, she adequately utilises irony to enable us to further
appreciate freedom. The caged bird sings with a fearful trill evokes sympathy for

As commercial marketing works towards profits and benefiting the marketer, social marketing works
for the benefit for society and the consumer (Pealer 2014). The ultimate goal of social marketing is
achieving voluntary behavioral change and adoption of healthier behavioral habits. In the 1970s,
Kotler and Zaltman both promulgated that the same marketing principles used to sell products can be

Atticus Moral Courage
The word courage may conjure up the typical images of soldiers fighting a war or firefighters saving
houses. While these are courageous acts, they represent merely one type of courage. In To Kill A
Mockingbird Harper Lee showcases an alternative type of courage, moral courage, through two main
characters and their selfless but righteous actions. Throughout the book, Atticus is illustrated as a
compassionate and intellectual man, withholding high standards and morals. These same morals drive
Atticus to selflessly defend Tom Robinson. He does this despite knowing he s got everything to lose
from taking the case (Lee pg.146). Furthermore, Atticus is aware of the jury s bias and the likely

activists fought for equality. One iconic activist, that is the epitome of moral courage, is Rosa Parks. In

give up her seat for a white person. Fully aware of the negative repercussions she could face for this,
she still defended her morals. In fact she faced continued harassment and threats in the wake of her
boycott but this did not deter her from living in alignment of her principles (History.com Staff).

literary genius that many authors, screenwriters, and playwrights have drawn influence from. The
influence of Shakespeare has been seen from movies like She s The Man to musicals like West Side
Story to books like Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. As one of the first featured playwrights
of his time, Shakespeare himself did not have as many tropes and events to write about like modern
writers do and would have had to draw inspiration from life around him and texts that had been
written at the time. Even if a person could not read in sixteenth century Catholic, and then Protestant,
England, they probably had a general idea of what the Bible was and the stories included. The Bible
was a source of influence for many morality plays and even small collections of short stories like The
Canterbury Tales. Roland Barthes, a theorist on textualism, would say that old texts like the Bible

Shakespeare drew his inspiration for the betrayal in these plays from Biblical stories like the story of
Jacob and Esau. In Genesis 27, Isaac, the son of Abraham, has gone blind and wishes to bestow a
blessing on his eldest son Esau. Esau is a hunter and the better provider for the family when Isaac

men. As a result to protect workers the Pure Food and Drug Act

Just you know, cranberry juice is acidic. Despite the whole alkaline / acidic myth, we recommend
using cranberry juice as part of a healthy diet. The reason for this is that our urine should be acidic.
This means that our kidneys are working properly and filter toxins.
Acidic nature also helps to reduce bacteria in the urethra, there is almost no chance of being infected
in a healthy, acidic urine. It only happens when processed foods, fake alkaline water, and bad dosage
are bombarded on our bodies, which are unable to keep our urine away from the bacteria.
Types of Cranberry Juice
Unfortunately, the majority of cranberry juice goes into making mixes and cocktails. The juice you
buy in grocery stores is not pure, is filled with sugars and chemicals, and is often so thin that no health
benefits have been left to her. In addition, the pasteurization process destroys healthy antioxidants.
The juice on the store shelves is slightly more than the sugar flavored with cranberry

  • 2. Disruptive Mood Disorder Analysis As described in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM 5), disruptive mood dysregulation disorder (DMDD) is a new diagnosis characterized by chronic irritability that requires clinical attention. Mulraney et al.(2016) state that the child who received diagnosis of DMDD experiences symptoms such as irritable/angry mood almost everyday, severe temper outburst for an average of more than three times per week, and has difficulty functioning at multiple settings which includes home, school, and with peers. Aripiprazole is a type of atypical antipsychotics that approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat irritability, conduct disorder as well as autism in young patients between 6 to 17 years old. According to Averna, D Agati, Vicari (2016), aripiprazole has an exclusive mechanism of action such as having a combination of partial agonism at the D2 and 5 HT1A receptors and antagonism at the 5 HT2A receptor. For that reason, it leads them to hypothesize the existence of a possible dose effect relationship of aripiprazole in the treatment of DMDD (pp.149 150). The most common side effects of aripiprazole/abilify are nausea, headaches, abdominal pain, heartburn, and the serious side effects are irregular heart beat, tightening of neck muscles and throat, chest pain, confusion and etc. Since the symptoms of DMDD are more related in the pathophysiology to children with depression, ADHD, and anxiety disorders, the risks for mania is subsided. Therefore, the acceptable choices would be selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors and CNS stimulants. In preliminary evidence proposes that youth with ADHD and DMDD or with ADHD and repeated aggression respond positively to CNS stimulants with slight risk of manic activation/adverse emotional effects ... It is used as a social device to interact with others and appreciate life with close family members and friends. In this article the author is trying to highlight the underlying themes such as the studying of symbols, signs and understating their interpretations behind the great Molson s beer commercial of 2000 I AM CANADIAN! The writer is analyzing the increase in Molson s market share caused by the ad campaign. Seiler has used historical, sociological and phenomenological approach in order to understand the various themes. This advert uses easily identifiable symbols of Canada, such as the flag, the national animal (Beaver) and the National Hockey League game, to link the audience in understanding what it takes be Canadian! As mentioned in the article, imported beer was preferred over the domestic one. Molson, in its attempt to increase its market share and target the majority of the population, joined hands with the American Coors beer company. It makes me wonder what really is the difference between Canada and America now? • 5. Familiarity and First Impressions in You Only Get One... In You Only Get One Chance , journalist Jen Kim addresses the importance of first impressions and how people are categorized by others within seconds of meeting (2014). She goes on to say that first impressions are so strongly developed, that they can often make one ignore all information that is already known to them about that individual (Kim, 2014). Kim bases this assertion with research from the empirical study, Familiarity increases the accuracy of categorizing male sexual orientation , by Marco Brambilla, Paolo Riva, and Nicholas O. Rule, published in the peer reviewed Journal of Personality and Individual Differences (2013). Kim decently reports the methods and results of the research. Yet like many other journalists, Jen Kim neglects to inform her audience about certain aspects of the study that are important when analyzing its results. Essential information about the claim and validities of the empirical study are lost in the journal to journalism cycle (Morling, 2012). These minor alterations of information should drive the audience to question the accuracy of the popular press article. Both the popular press article and the empirical study make a causal claim. A causal claim is a statement that suggests one variable is the cause for the change in the second variable (Morling, 2012). Kim states that our first judgments of people are so strong, that they often override what we are told about them, implying that one s first judgments causes one to disregard ... • 6. Patriotism And Patriotism In World War I Patriotism in World War I The First World War, a conflict between the Allied Powers and the Central Powers, began in 1914. The United States did not join the Allied Powers until 1917. The popular music during the mid 1910s displays the patriotism and nationalism shown by the American people during the time the United States joined the war. The United States was attempting to stay out of the war because they wanted to remain neutral and to maintain proper relations with foreign countries, but nonetheless, they joined because tensions with Germany were increasing and the Zimmerman Telegram was sent which suggests the idea of Germany becoming allies with Mexico. This was the starting point of patriotism in the United States because once the people saw war as inevitable, they began to feel confidence in the capabilities of their country, (Royde Smith). Pieces of sheet music from this time period include The Fight Is On. Song, by J.R. Shannon and Carl D. Vandersloot; America Today (Don t Worry Uncle Sam s Alright), by Herbert Moore and W.R. Williams; and When Woodrow Wilson Takes A Hand, by S.E. Cox. These pieces are the beginnings of the contemporary American belief that the United States is superior to all opposing powers. The sheet music of wartime, therefore, reflects the attitudes of the American people throughout this period. The 1918 song, The Fight Is On. Song, by J.R. Shannon and Carl D. Vandersloot builds on the emotions of the United States entering into World War I. The cover of the sheet music depicts a soldier fighting for the Allied Powers, storming into a trench of the Central Powers to attack. The broader scene shown is on a battlefield, and the background portrays the chaos of war. Above the mayhem shown in this picture is a true symbol of patriotism: the waving American flag. The song s lyrics target patriotic, pro war Americans. The denotative meaning of the lyrics is that the United States is going to fight in the first World War. They are going to bring all of their power and strength to the battle and not stop until the war is over. The lyrics make several claims that the United States is fighting for their freedom. On the following pages, I will take a closer look at Christianity and their encounter with Animism, Hinduism and Buddhism. Some African religions refer to this High God as a superior creator who abandoned the universe and passed all divine power and responsibility onto the earthly spirits. In Animistic cultures, life after death plays an important role as well. It accepts death as a rite of passage into the spiritual realm. The animistic view of life and death are so delicately intertwined that neither life stage is truly separate from the other; merely two sides of the same coin. For this reason, there is generally little or no distinction between a god and an ancestor s spirit. Their spiritual duties and influences are indivisible, as gods are present among the ancestors, spirits, and humans. Sacrifices are usually made in the ancestor s honor in order to keep peace, wealth, and health in good relations. Although there is no specific, universal doctrine for the Animistic culture, there are some common beliefs concerning the afterlife. Following this altercation, Suttree speaks to the sheriff about his wife s family, and his tone and choice of words say quite a bit about the general view of women from other men of the town. She is only spoken about in relation to her father, ...the man whose daughter s life you ve ruined, not as her own person. Although Suttree s relationship with Wanda is one of the only times in the novel that we can infer that he truly cares for a woman, he does not view her as a peer or equal in any regard. He views her as childlike, naive, and mostly as a sexual object, fixated on her pointing, young breasts, her smooth skin, and her white thighs (McCarthy 350). He sexualizes her young body in an almost predatory way, describing her kiss as child s breath, an odor of raw milk (McCarthy 352). She, on the other hand, is only about 18, and seems to view him as an important figure and a real relationship, and a way to distinguish her from the poverty and misfortune of her family. He used these ideas to explain his account of the soul and the immateriality of intellect. Prior to Aristotle, philosophers like Parmenides and Heraclitus argued about the existence of change. It is because of form that we have consistency and permanence (Feser 10/27/10). Just as importantly, there is matter, the principle which allows a substance to be changed and prevents it from being stagnent in one place or time. It is because of matter that we have change and imperfections (Feser 10/27/10). We can see the idea of Hylemorphism represented in Aristotle s other doctrine, act and potency. • 24. Comparison Of Freud And Jentsch s Concept Of The Uncanny In 1919, Sigmund Freud, the father of psychoanalysis, published his own psychological investigation on the notion of uncanny. Previous studies were conducted on this subject by the German psychologist Ernst Anton Jentsch, and served as the starting point for Freud s analysis. However, the feeling of uncanny was not an easy concept to identify. Jentsch concluded that it fits in the area of the fear of the unfamiliar and intellectual uncertainty. Freud, with some opposition to Jentsch s investigation, took it further from what Jentsch concluded. Freud theorizes that the uncanny is that class of terrifying which leads back to something long known to us, once very unfamiliar. (Freud, 1) Coraline by Neil Gaiman as well Harry Potter by J.K Rowling include examples of both Freud and Jentsch s concept of the uncanny . Firstly, the etymology of the word uncanny is informative. In English, its etymology is straightforward. The meaning of the word is like the antithesis of heimlich...meaning familiar , native , belonging to home . (Freud, 2) To be canny is to be good at dealing with things. Contrary to canny, uncanny are things which we can not comprehend or believe. To us humans, many things are frightening, yet familiar: spiders, snakes, height, failure, loss of loved ones, driving, etc. These are not uncanny because we understand loss, discomfort, and death. When we are faced with these situations we know why we are frightened, but that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On August 12, 2013, I almost lost my best friend; he had smoked for twenty some years when he had a devastating heart attack. I remember the fear and the thoughts of death that made my skin shiver. It was the second week of school on Tuesday when I got a pass at the beginning of my World History class when I got a pass with immediately circled three or four times. The pass made me very confused considering I didn t know of any appointments I had, and I didn t ask my mom if I could go home early. Leaving the class and entering the empty hall, thinking about what s going on as my footsteps echoing through the halls. What s going on? Why would I be leaving this close to the end of school? As I walked past the office to my locker, I saw my mom with red eyes and purple bags under her eyes. At that moment, my stomach flipped and knotted up, because it s at that moment when I realized something very wrong has happened. My pace quickened to the point of almost running; shoving my French one book and Algebra one in my backpack before sprinting to my mom. She met me by the big glass doors in the lobby of the office; laying a hand on my shoulder she told me my dad had a major heart attack. I had felt my body instinctively lunged toward the door, but my mom held my shoulder tight. • 28. Gregor Mendelian Theory Of Genetics Genetic traits which are derived from the rules of inheritance proposed by Gregor Mendel are referred to as Mendelian. After a series of experiments in his garden with pea plants he came to discover the basic principles of heredity which have now formed the foundation to genetics; he noted certain traits appeared within offspring in predictable patterns. These principles include the law of segregation which states offspring receives an allele coding for the same trait from both parents and the law of Independent assortment, declaring alleles passed on from parents are independent thus the inheritance of one gene does not influence the inheritance of another gene.(Genetics generation, 2017). So if an allele coding for blue eyes is inherited this does not influence the probability of receiving an allele coding for blonde hair. Mendel crossbred pea plants over many generations differing in single traits such as height and from his observations was able to conclude that traits expressed in offspring depend on the type of allele an individual receives from each parent because although 2alleles are inherited, only one is expressed. His law of dominance proposes traits are either dominant or recessive; dominant traits requiring one copy of the gene whereas recessive must have 2 copies of the allele present in order for the recessive trait to be expressed. He explained the disappearance of one of two the traits present in the chromosome by supposing one of the traits to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Since the start of the NASA program, in October of 1958, we have had many different projects to explore and discover more about what is around our world. Many criteria that can be used to evaluate NASA, and these criteria are past tragedies, past successes, theories for travel, type of transportation, funding, popularity, reputation, long term impact, short term impact, and scientific discoveries. NASA has had three major past tragedies that still linger over the program today. The first major tragedy for NASA came at a fragile time. During the start of the Apollo program three astronauts who were scheduled to be sent into orbit on Apollo One died from a fire. This fire started from an electrical failure in their simulation practice pod as the three men, Virgil I. Grissom, Edward H. White II, Roger B. Chaffee, were inclosed in the pure oxygen chamber. John Locke was one of the first to expound on the origins of property, and sixty six years later Jean Jacques Rousseau would also address the issues of property and inequality. According to Locke and Rousseau, the social contract is sanctioned by formal equalities yet creates or gives way to inequalities after it is formed. Though Locke would argue that inequalities in the private sphere don t fall under the jurisdiction of the government, Rousseau would say justice gets deformed through inequality. Locke would also say that you don t just get to take as much as you want, but that there must be as much of and as good of left for others. Locke also defines the public and private sphere(how/what is he defining it through? Through him talking about slavery etc paragraph 85, 89 ). Political relationships are made between equal men, and these relationships (civil society) cannot be dissolved. The establishment of civil society established equality among men because each had to agree to it. Each man equally gives up some rights, and equally receives the same protection from the sovereign. The civil society, as an entity, makes a contract with the sovereign and in so doing, resigns the power to judge in their own case to the sovereign. According to Locke, the whole point of civil society was to ensure that each had their own property so that there was prosperity. For Rousseau, the first sign of inequality is when people begin to be more highly regarded based on overall physical appearance and ability; from these first preferences, vanity, contempt, shame, and envy were born. The Idea Of Evolution In A Brave New World The definition of evolution is a change in the heritable characteristics of biological populations over successive generations. This is true all around us with developments in many species of animals and plants as humans shape a new world, but with a topic so broad can one sentence truly define what happens next in multiple different species. If you dissect this it specifies a heritable change in a biological population, but what if the next step in life is not technically alive? Over the years we have grown from microscopic organisms to a species with superior mental development, articulated speech and have even managed to spread ourselves across Earth. We have done what was previously thought impossible by being able to edit our own genetics and even program robots to do simple everyday tasks for us. The real question is what is our next step, every step of evolution so far from australopithecus to our current form of humans we have advanced and grown to become a smarter version of our previous selves and in doing so eliminated multiple competing species. To advance from our current beings we most likely have three options. Those options include changing our own DNA enough( both overall population and in the amount of change) that we are turned into a new species or we could be replaced/ overthrown by a new generation of artificial intelligence that is smarter than us. The last option is mass extinction by either a worldwide natural disaster or the process of exhausting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They are way more complex than what we tend to think and throughout this essay we will go over their creation, how they re structured, and how they impacted ballet. In the early 1700s, the technique of ballet developed rapidly and incorporated a new emphasis on graceful foot technique. In 1726, Marie Camargo debuted at the Paris Opéra Ballet in a performance of Les Caractères de la Danse, dancing in slippers instead of heeled shoes. She had also shortened her stage skirt to show off the turnout of her legs and feet as well as her bas de jambe during entrechats. A wide range of designs were on the market: from soft block shoes, which are designed for transition from soft shoes to pointe shoes, to extremely hard shoes, which give extra strength, to machine manufactured rehearsal pointes for dance students operating on a smaller budget. About thirty five ballet shoe manufacturers, such as Freed, Grishko, Bloch, Capezio, and Gaynor Minden operate in the market. At the end of the twentieth century, the fashion industry picked up the idea of ribbons and look alike pointe shoes, and designer brands such as Manolo Blahnik, Sonia Rykiel, Etro, and Blumarine have used the pointe shoe style to create ballerina fashion shoes. At the beginning of the nineteenth century, an increasingly challenging ballet technique, en demi pointe, allowed dancers to carry out multiple pirouettes and jumps. While men were identified as playing a secondary role in the performance, from this point onward ballerinas rose to the toes and contributed to a new dance aesthetic. This overt emphasis on the lightness of dancers was reflected by Marie Taglioni, who appeared sur les pointes in the first performance of La Sylphide in 1832. • 35. Caged Bird Analysis The role of voices in text is to give meaning and to highlight the composer s attitudes and beliefs. Maya Angelou s politically complex voice in Caged Bird explores her belief in the human rights for equality, and the freedom for every individual regardless of race or creed. Paradoxically Bruce Dawe s satirical and judgmental voice in Enter without so much knocking (Knock) conveys his criticisms of society s shallow meaningless life. Caged Bird by Angelou makes the audience reconsider the real conditions of the free bird and the caged bird . This contrast between the birds throughout the poem enables her to explore the issues of freedom and isolation in African American society. Angelou utilises various literary devices and techniques such as repetition, irony and imagery to convey her attitudes and beliefs about the beauty of freedom. Repetition is used when the poem repeats the third stanza at the end of the poem to further emphasis freedom, this reflects the two birds that are different. for the caged bird sings of freedom is the last line of stanza three conveying an important message to the readers, that the caged bird wants to be free. This allows the reader to conclude that every individual should be aware and thankful for the freedom in their society. Although less direct in conveying Angelou s attitudes and beliefs, she adequately utilises irony to enable us to further appreciate freedom. Jacob, Esau, and Shakespeare s Brotherly Betrayal Over time, William Shakespeare has become a literary genius that many authors, screenwriters, and playwrights have drawn influence from. The influence of Shakespeare has been seen from movies like She s The Man to musicals like West Side Story to books like Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. As one of the first featured playwrights of his time, Shakespeare himself did not have as many tropes and events to write about like modern writers do and would have had to draw inspiration from life around him and texts that had been written at the time. Even if a person could not read in sixteenth century Catholic, and then Protestant, England, they probably had a general idea of what the Bible was and the stories included. The Bible was a source of influence for many morality plays and even small collections of short stories like The Canterbury Tales. Roland Barthes, a theorist on textualism, would say that old texts like the Bible contain codes that can be found in texts even today. From an intertextual reading of his plays like King Lear, Much Ado About Nothing, King Henry IV, Part I, and The Tempest, it can be argued that Shakespeare drew his inspiration for the betrayal in these plays from Biblical stories like the story of Jacob and Esau.
