Persuasion Essay
Persuasion is a talent, a talent to create a scenario in which one can impact, influence and change a
preexisting line of thought of an individual.
It is a powerful tool and it can be used to either impact, positively or negatively, the attitude and
belief of another or others. It is an integral part of communication that puts one of the party involved
in contact with the concepts that are created by others. Similar to communication, persuasion is also
a transaction of give and take, receiving and sending of messages between one another. The major
difference is that persuasion is more of a technique whereby we try to create an impression on the
other person. In persuasion, we focus more on persuading someone to believe or to do something ...

The major difference between persuasion and communication is that persuasion is a conscious
effort made to influence the party, along with the awareness that the persuader has a susceptible
mind that may change. Persuasion needs to have a conclusion and a message. The responses are
modified by symbolic transactions which are linked to the emotions and sentiments of the target.
Communication does not focus on trying to change an individual. It is simply an exchange of
information and it can be verbal or non verbal.
In the business world persuasion is highly crucial and it is critical not only to ensure success but
also to create an environment in which the team can be motivated and be unified. Good
persuasion skills help you to achieve your goals by influencing others. And this is definitely the
foundation for success in any big or small business. The ability to be persuasive requires a
trusting and a positive relationship and to build such relationship requires time, attention and the
willingness to give and take. These skills can be learnt just as easily as any other skill, but the
magic is in to know when and how to use the skill to benefit oneself. Effective persuasion needs a
person to keep few important things in. A good persuader not only has good communication skills
but also has empathy, good listening skills, knows how to build a rapport and win trust. Body
language is also important as the

Tuberculosis As A Contagious Disease
What is Tuberculosis? Tuberculosis, TB for short, is an ancient disease that has been around even
before the first recorded disease in the history. This disease can be found in Egyptian mummies
from 4000 BC. Tuberculosis is caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, or tubercle bacillus (
Centers for disease, 2011). Tuberculosisis primarily a disease of the lungs, but the TB bacterium
can also travel through blood stream and attack any part of the body like kidney, spine and brain
(Hamann, 1994). According to CDC, tuberculosis is considered one of the world s deadliest
diseases; 1/3 of the world s population suffers from TB infection, in 2010, there were nearly nine
million people that became sick with TB around the world, and TB is the... Show more content on

Although some of the some scientist back in 1719, Benjamin Martin wrote a book called A
New Theory of Consumption, More Especially of Phthisis or Consumption of the Lungs, in this
book he noted the likelihood of the tuberculosis contagion stating that close proximity to
someone that has this disease causes the other person to acquired it (Reichman Hershfield,
2000). Which in a way, Benjamin Martin, is right on point. Tuberculosis is an airborne disease,
which means its main mode of transmission is through the air. Animals such as cattle can carrier
the bacteria, but most cause human is the main reservoir of this disease (Hamann, 1994). When
an infected person that has active tuberculosis will be able to infect the air around him/her by
sneezing, coughing, speaking or even singing ( Centers for disease, 2011). The airborne droplet
of the bacteria lingers longer in the air and thus people that are in close proximity or just happen
to walk by and breathe in the bacteria will become infected. Unlike any other contagious disease,
TB is not spread by shaking someone s hand, sharing food or drink, touching bed lines or toilet
seat, sharing personal items and kissing. But not everyone that s been exposed to someone that has
tuberculosis becomes symptomatic, or sick; as a result there is two types of Tuberculosis related
conditions; latent TB infection and active TB

Argument Analysis
In this week s article, we anayzled an Ad, created by a company called Canada Oil Sands
Community. The Ad s main focus was on two white, attractive women their lips barely touching,
and they are embracing each other. The Ad says In Canada lesbians are considered hot! In Saudi
Arabia if you re a lesbian YOU DIE! then goes on to say why buy oil from companies who don t
think lesbians are hot? Choose equality! Choose Canadian oil! The creator of the Ad, Robbie
Picard, is gay himself, as well as Metis. The post originally was just a marketingploy, and while
issuing his apology Picard said he is glad it is drawing attention, and will take the backlash if the
issue is getting to the root of the problem which to his defence is Saudi Arabia not accepting
LGBT people into their society. Picard states that It was not my intent of demeaning women or any

Ads like Versus, Gucci and even Old Navy play up the act of two women married, and make
even a simple hug dehumanizing. It s been widely acknowledged by many that LGBTQ* women
are more widely accepted than LGBTQ* men. One of the possible reasons for this is because
queer women have been largely accepted by the majority straight white males. The spokesperson
for the LGBTQ* community is usually a white female, take Orange is the New Black, the main
character is a white female and although they feature other people (those also who are of colour),
the focus is on a white, pretty lesbian. Although this Ad was just one guy trying to draw attention
to his company, which he did; he is drawing even more attention to the exploitation of LGBTQ*
women. Picard s motive was to draw the most attention, and to apply to his white, male population.
By not putting two males or two women of colour, he is signifying that white women are over
sexualized to the generic public aka white

The Benefits Of Intrauterine Insemination ( Iui ), And...
In today s world there are several options for couples who are wanting to begin or add to the
number of members in their families, but have had difficulties in doing so. Aside from adoption, the
possibilities for these couples include: Intrauterine Insemination (IUI), In vitro Fertilization (IVI),
and Surrogate Mother Arrangements. While these options may result in a pregnancy, they are not
without risk and must be considered prayerfully, as they carry a moral and ethical weight. First,
Intrauterine Insemination, also known as artificial insemination, is a process commonly used for
unexplained infertility in which specially washed sperm is directly inserted into the uterus
(Christianlifesources). Most clinics offer for the woman to remain lying down for a few minutes
after the procedure, although it has not been shown to improve success. The sperm has been put
above the vagina and cervix it will not leak out when you stand up (Advanced Fertilization). During
the IUI procedure, Doctors place the sperm higher in the cervix than with Intracervical or ICI
procedures, resulting in higher percentages of pregnancy. Doctors utilize IUI in situations where
women experience problems with ovulation, mild cases of endometriosis, and cervical factor
infertility (advanced fertility). Clients also benefit from IUI when male factor infertility is an issue,
however, If the sperm count, motility and morphology scores are quite low, intrauterine
insemination is unlikely to work (Advanced

Optimism In Romeo And Juliet
Being optimistic is being hopeful and having a positive attitude about the future. One can be
optimistic in any situations with any emotions, it depends on the view and personality of the
person in mind. In William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet, two individuals from different
worlds find a way to come together even in the face of their families altercations to find true
love. The play, Romeo and Juliet, expresses a rather optimistic view of life. In the play, the two
lovers try to keep their lives positive despite what is going on in their personal lives. Juliet is in
disbelief when she learns that her love Romeo is a montague and she is not allowed with him.

The Nurse acts like a messenger for Juliet and is out of breath from having to walk through
Verona. After receiving good news from Romeo the Nurse heads back to the Capulet home and
says to Juliet, I am aweary. Give me leave awhile. Fie, how my bones ache! What a jaunt have I!
(2.5.25). This represents that the Nurse has become tired and needs to relax after Juliet s
requests for her to speak with Romeo. Though the nurse feels weak and needs some time to
settle down a bit but instead she explains all of what happened to Juliet. This is an example of
staying calm and happy when you are stressed or down. Romeo s new love interest brings a
sense of distress to the Friar. As Romeo tells Friar Lawrence he is in love with the forbidden the
Friar says, But come, young waverer, come, go with me, In one respect I ll thy assistant be, For
this alliance may so happy prove To turn your households rancor to pure love (2.3.85). The Friar
is aware of the feud between the families, but instead of becoming worried about this situation
the Friar although feeling stressed agrees to marry the two. The Friar has hope that the marriage
could reunite the Capulet and Montague. He always keeps his hope throughout the play. The
Friar acts as a friend to Juliet when Romeo was exiled. When Friar Lawrence hears the news that
Romeo has been exiled he comes up with a plan for Juliet and says, Hold. Get you gone. Be
strong and prosperous In this resolve (4.1.126). The Friars only son like figure has been sent
away indefinitely and still instead of being full of anger he simply helps Juliet without a thought
of his own feelings. Friar Lawrence sees only the good in every situation and figures out way to
make it better, like giving Juliet the potion in hopes of bringing Romeo back so they can run away.

Premarital Sex and Religion Essay
Premarital Sex and Religion
The Catholic Church teaches that premarital sex is wrong, yet it is still widely practiced around
the world. The reason marriage was created was to join two people of the opposite sex together in
a holy sacrament that would make the couple one. God s reason for marriage is quoted in the bible
when he said, For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother and be joined to his
wife, and the two shall become one flesh. The Sacrament of marriage is one of the most sacred
Sacraments in the Catholic Religion. By performing premarital sex, the couple is breaking a
covenant with God and is performing a sin. Marriage is the joining of a couple in the eyes of God
and in the eyes of the State. When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Premarital sex goes against God s law so our relationship with God is destroyed. Penance can
heal our relationship with God, but the emotional ties that go along with premarital sex can hurt
a person for life. Many couples that have premarital sex often do not stay together in marriage.
Many people have strong emotional hardships that they go through after having premarital sex.
Premarital sex doesn t just lead to sin; it leads to a separation of God and your family and
friends. Sex is the sacred sigh of the covenant with God, when a couple has sex they are sealing
the covenant with God. Breaking this sign of the covenant is one of the most harmful sins that
we as a people can expose ourselves to. In order for us to enter into heaven God says But among
you there must not even be a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity...because these
are improper for God s holy people.1 Breaking the sign of the covenant with God is breaking
God s law and going against everything God wants for us. God doesn t ask much from us
considering all that he has given us, he asks us only to follow his laws, in Jesus said, If you love
me, you will obey what I command.1 Premarital sex goes against God s command and ruins our
relationship with him.
Since the time of Christ, Christians have thought premarital sex to be a sin. Ancient Christians use
to believe that marriage was a second rate choice but if one lacked self control, he had to take

Sex In Simone De Beauvoir
The French feminist Simone de Beauvoir famously declared one is not born but rather becomes a
woman . Beauvoir s thesis distinguishes the two categories sex and gender and suggests that while
sexuality may be natural and physical, gender is a social construct inculcated through cultural
conditioning. Sex is understood as something unalterable, constant, associated with the anatomy
whereas genderis the cultural meaning and the form that is ascribed to the body. Despite the fact
that gender and sex are distinct from each other unequal power play and sexual politics continues to
be important between different gender roles. Beauvoir is also of the view that the prime category of
human thought is relation between self and the other. Society... Show more content on

Gregory The Great Accomplishments
For over a period of seven hundred plus years, from Gregory the Great s papacy to Boniface VIII s
papacy, the world experienced many influential popes, whose accomplishments changed the course
of history. Many of these popes become known for both their positive accomplishments, which
brought prosperity to their people, and for their failures, which in many cases led to their own
death. Throughout the given time period, PopeNicholas II, Pope Gregory VII, Pope Innocent III,
and Pope Gregory IX, were all influential popes whose accomplishments are what they are most
remembered for.
First, Pope Nicholas II decreed that the College of Cardinals would obtain authority to choose
the pope. The College of Cardinals was made up of a group of Roman Church officials who were
in charge of electing the pope, which was put in place to prevent kings from selecting popes. The
declaration made by Nicholas II for the continuation of the College of Cardinals led to the
declaring of independence from political structure. This meant that the Roman Church officials did
not have to seek the approval of the King before electing a new pope, while preventing kings from
electing puppets, to do the bidding of the King. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

buying and selling of church offices, which was in direct confrontation with the College of

To begin, this paper will first address the causation of the 1970 October Crisis and the origins of
Quebec autonomy through separation. Going back to the election of Jean Lesage and the Quiet
Revolution in 1960 s, it marked a period in which provincial autonomy would inspire nationalism.
Elected under the phrase It s time for a change , Jean Lesage would implement an attitude of high
modernism that saw the secularization of industry, education and healthcare. By extension of the
high modernist attitude, projects such as the nationalization of Quebec Hydro also saw the
construction of large scale projects furthering provincial autonomy through job creation and wealth.
The Hydro Quebec project under Minister Rene Levesque would become an important symbol in
QuГ©bec by showing the ingenuity of the QuГ©bГ©cois to complete such an ambitious project .
Through the strengthening of a QuГ©bГ©cois identity during the Quiet
Revolution,iIt would further motivate existing nationalist organizations to push the provincial
government for greater independence. Separatist groups such as the Ralliement National, CSN and
Front de Liberation du QuГ©bec began as municipal and grassroots organizations advocating for
greater provincial autonomy through separation. These separatist groups were also driven by a
suppression of French identity by an English minority in the province, issues of economic

The Cultural Beliefs Affect The Culture Of Immigrants
The Cultural environment is a set of beliefs, practices, customs, and behaviors which are familiar
to people in a specific population. There are essential components of culture which include
language and symbols. Symbols show the meaning and actions of events while the word conveys
the values and beliefs of religionwhich allows the members of the society to pass on the cultural
expectations of other generations. The following factors affect the cultureof immigrants to a new
population where they settle (Oberg, 1960).
Religious beliefs of a community are the beliefs and building blocks of a cultural environment.
They dictate the beliefs in supernatural power. When a new member is added or moves in a new
community which of course is bounded with particular religious beliefs, they find it a challenge to
adapting to the new Christian ideas. To be well off with the places, what kind of worship they
offer, how they do their offerings which is of course entirely different with the one from the new
member s culture, they have to be dedicated to getting involved in the religious functions entirely.
The most significant challenge comes when the new member in the literature does not show
interest in the new environments religious beliefs and might be discriminated as people may view
them as unholy or spies to their way of life hence might be chased away.
Another critical factor in a culture of a community is family and relationships. The family is the

Energy As An Source Of Energy For Electricity Essay
What is the idea Solar Energy as an alternate source of energy for electricity. Why is this
important idea There are many reasons why l think the installation of solar power should be
considered as an alternating source of power in our homes: 1.We must be concerned about the
environmental effect and reliance on fossil fuels (Since United State has 67% of its source of
power from fossil fuels). 2.We should improve the value of our property by investing in solar
panels. 3.We would like to be less dependent on big business supplying our energy needs. To
whom is it important especially industries, people living mostly in the rural and urban areas get
affected by shortage of electricity The installation of the solar panels is not difficult to develop.
Solar electricity, is generated when electrons are freed by the interaction of sunlight with the
semiconductor materials in the solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, and are then captured in an
electronic current. This DC current is then carried through an inverter that converts the current into
120C AC power (which is the current used by American appliances. The current conversion will
be different in other countries). The AC power then travels via a disconnect switch (for safety) to
your fuse box and your appliances or into the main electricity grid if your panels are producing
more electricity than you are using at the time. A solar power system consists of panels, an inverter,
a disconnect switch, wiring, and an

Political And Political Politics Of The Twentieth Century
What is the history of political cartooning?
The history of political cartooning is used for social and political messages which goes back to the
eighteenth and nineteenth centuries in America with Benjamin Franklin s Join or Die , which

Since Benjamin Franklin started political cartooning back in the eighteenth century, people have
started using their artistic skills to attack, argue and add their opinions on the most important
political issues of the day. Political cartoons were often posted in the newspapers, posted on walls

Although there were four New England colonies, Benjamin Franklin gathered into one category to
stress the need for the colonial unity. At the time of the cartoonbeing made, the colonists firmly
debated making west of the Appalachian Mountains bigger and fighting the French and the Indians,
which were their allies.
As publisher and printer, Benjamin Franklin drafted several cartoons that persuaded colonists to
rebel against England. Join or Die appeared alongside Benjamin Franklin s editorial about the
disunited state of the colonies and that means to unite or to be attacked by French and Indian allies.
Ahead of time, Benjamin Franklin knew that in order to convince the colonists, he first had to
convince the public. Straight forward and powerful images, followed by a clear and expressive
prose has the power to create conversation among the populations. With drawing the cartoon,
Benjamin Franklin voiced a strong opinion in a keen, potent and sophisticated way. The second
American cartoonist was not as famous as Benjamin Franklin was in American history, his name
was Paul Revere. Paul Revere was a silversmith and an engraver who created incendiary cartoons
disguised as prints of news events. By the time of Abraham Lincoln s presidency, more than dozens
of cartoons had appeared every year in magazines, newspapers, penny prints, posters, lithographs
and broadsides.

The Book Of Luke Essay
Luke According to Hindson and Towns, Luke was a gentile from Syrian Antioch and was a brother
of Titus. There is little documented information concerning the beginning of Luke s life, and the
exact date of his birth is unknown. The Bible does say that Luke was a well educated physician and
a companion to Paul who taught him the Gospelof JesusChrist. Luke spent a lot of time with Paul
and accompanied him on many of his trips to preach the Gospel. Luke authored the Biblical
books of Luke and Acts and was the only Gentile to write any Biblical books. In the book of
Luke, Luke tells the story of Jesus s life on earth and highlights Jesus s compassion and the role of
women in his ministry. Luke himself was not alive during the days that Jesus... Show more content

The main characters in Philippians include the author himself, Paul, Timothy, Epaphroditus,
Euodia, Syntyche, and most importantly Jesus Christ. Timothy was staying with Paul while he
was in prison and Paul had planned to send Timothy back to Philippi to the church to deliver his
letter to the people. Epaphroditus had also desired to return to Philippi but was sick and dying.
The Lord healed Epaphroditus so that he could travel to Philippi. Paul s main intent in writing his
letter was to express his thanks and appreciation to God for the Philippians and to provide them
with words of encouragement. Ten years prior to the letter, Paul was obeying a vision to preach the
gospel in Europe and established the church of Philippi (Acts 16). Paul s letter to the Philippians
affirmed that Christians have the opportunity to experience true joy if they adopt an attitude of
remembrance, prayer, selflessness, confidence, unity, humility, evangelism, servitude, gratitude,
commitment, joy and support (Hindson Towns, 2013). In the final chapter of Philippians, Paul
urges the Philippians to help Edodia and Syntyche, two women who were arguing, to agree in the

My Team s First Robotics Competition Of The Season
It was two in the morning, five hours before my team s first robotics competition of the season. We
d already worked tirelessly, but were planning one last test run before going to bed.
The robot was driving over the ramp when, all of a sudden, it stopped. The tank treads that we had
researched and trusted had snapped in half.
Most of us yelled in frustration, but not our team leaders, Max and Matt. They picked up the robot,
brought it back to the work table, and within an hour, they had orchestrated a creative solution to
the snapped tread. Watching the way they managed the situation, I felt inspired: I was only a
freshman but I wanted to know what they knew.
Over the course of the next two years, I learned from Max and Matt the different ways to cut
metal, how to solder wire, how to write basic code for the robot, and how to design mechanisms
that would ensure the greatest reliability. I learned how to document my work in an engineering
notebook and how to explain to judges the way our team operates. As I gained more experience
and grew more committed to the team, I began to come into the robotics lab during lunch and on
Sundays. I was always eager to keep working.
By my junior year, I was ready to take on a leadership role. That year, as at the start of every
season, all participants in the league watched a video detailing the tasks our robots would need to
perform in the various competitions. The hardest and most valuable of the year s challenges was to

*ANSWER;
Top Down Approach
There are many strategies available to solve the engineering problems. One of the most famous
strategies is Top Down approach. The strategy, in which the complex engineering problem is
solved by dividing it into many sub small problems, is called Top Down approach in problem
solving. At below part, four advantages are described which are related with the top down
approach of problem solving.

The Picture Of Dorian Gray, And The Phantom Of The Beholder
There is an old saying that declares: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder . This suggests that
beauty is subjective, and lacks a concrete contextualized definition; what is perceived by one
individual as attractive, may be, by another, considered unattractive. Regardless of the subjective
nature of beauty, society still conforms to beauty ideals, which are propagated and fueled by the
media. The beauty ideals that are self imposed by society are problematic because they are
unattainable, and galvanize society to reject or promote people based on their outward appearance
and hold people s inner beauty in less regard. The imbalance between physical (outward)
appearance and inward is a key theme in both The Picture of Dorian Gray, and The Phantom of the
Opera. In both novels, the main characters are subject to judgment that is overwhelmingly directed
at their outward appearance, and we see an over emphasis of the superficial, which ultimately leads
to their downfall. Another important thematic element present in both novels is that the main
characters have conflicting dual personalities that have changing roles as the story progresses. A
contrasting thematic element in both books is the excessive praise that the main character in The
Picture of Dorian Gray received, and the excessive criticism that the main character in The Phantom
of the Opera received, both leading to negative outcomes, and the characters ultimate demise.

Madonna And Child Analysis
Portraits of the Madonna and Child depicting Mary holding the infant Christ provide a recurrent
image in art throughout the ages. In prevalent portrayals over the span of centuries, artists reflect a
wide diversity in their representations of the iconic duo. In particular, two works found in the
National Gallery of Ireland in the early Italian Renaissancegallery, The Virgin and Child, Saint John
the Baptist and Prophets by an unknown artist (1325 1450) and The Virgin and Child by Paolo
Uccello (1435 1440), highlight the transition between Byzantine and early Renaissance paintings of
the Madonna and Child, particularly in relation to subject matter, composition, material, style and
meaning. Although each of these paintings of the Madonna and Child depicts the same Christian
iconography of Mary and Jesus, their differences in composition and style influence their meaning,
with each paintingreflecting the individual artist who painted it and the different time period during
which it was created.
The subject matter of both of these National Gallery of Ireland Madonna and Child works is
unmistakably Mary, who was assumed into heaven upon her death, and her son, Jesus Christ, born
free of original sin through the Immaculate Conception. A central icon of Christianity, Mary
traditionally exemplifies love, passion and devotion. As Mary represents universal motherhood, the
subject of the Madonna appeals to all people. Although both Madonna and Child paintings depict

The Importance Of Protecting Businesses By Using Patents,...
You shall not steal, nor deal falsely, nor lie to one another Leviticus 19:11 (Dake s Annontated
Reference Bible) is the basic principle of life as well business. Everyone understands what stealing
means, but forgets you are stealing when you take a business s logo, name, trademark, or identity.
Stealing does not have to be a physical object that belongs to a business. It can be something that
they have created such as a song or product. This paper will talk about the importance of protecting
businesses by using patents, copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, and businesses propertyrights.
Patents
The United States Patent Office is where companies or individuals can file documents to obtain a
legal monopoly for a product or process that they have created (Jennings, 2015). Three types of
patents include utility or machines lasting 20 years, the design, or production that lasts 14 years,
and plant that lasts 20 years. Because of the race to be the first person to invent or create a
product the America Invents Act (AIA) came about in 2011. This allowed Americans to compete
with other countries that had filed before them as well as increase the patent process from 3 to 4
years to 12 months. A patent holder has the right to solely profit from the patent. If someone steals
the idea the individual has created then they have done a patent infringement. This entitles the
patent holder to damages and legal action against the party that stole the idea. In order for a

Summary Of A City Of Churches
The first example of someone being outside the norms of their community is Cecelia in the story
A City of Churches. The town of Prester was a town filled with churches, Cecelia moves to the
town to open up a car rental shop not realizing how different she was from the people who live
there. She starts to show signs of being different when she says she isn t very religious. Mr.
Phillip s replies with Not now... not yet. In a way, this shows how Mr. Philip s believes Cecelia
will fall into the line of society because as it stands right now she is an outsider coming in. She
stands out again when she requests to live alone instead of like the rest of the community. Mr.
Philip s asks her For what purpose did she want her own home, she responds with there is no
particular purpose, and with that Mr. Philip s says that is not usual in the town of Prester. In this
scene, she also shows how she will not back down or be afraid of Mr. Philip s. This can be seen
when they talk about what she dreams to which she responds mostly sexual things. This
comment seems to throw Mr. Philip s off a bit as he says Prester is not that type of town. She
seems to do this to see how he will react and readers can see that she might even be doing this to
see if he will tell her to leave, or make her leave the town. The fact that Cecelia is being so unusual
and not wanting to live in a church like them, makes them a bit angry. The community doesn t take
her arriving and staying in town very well.

Art Gallery Analysis
The art gallery I visited was the El Paso Museum of Arts on April 8, 2017. After observing a
number of paintings and sculptures, I decided to write an analysis on a rather simple and calm
painting. The composition is by American born Susan Ricker Knox and is entitled Afternoon Tea.
The artwork has no specific date but states it was painted in the 1920s. The medium used is simply
oil on canvas. The overall compositional subject matter is two women, sitting back to back,
enjoying their hour with tea. Afternoon Tea by Susan Knox represents a tranquil scene about
leisure time that corresponds with the artwork s line, color, and pose. When I first glanced at this

composition has a soft and fluffy quality which only adds to the tranquility of the scene. In addition
to the lack of intensity of the hues used in the work, Knox s use of analogous colors supplements
the composition s peaceful nature. The umbrella in the background of the composition has a teal hue

This is first seen when all she is left with is the naming, Tereu, Tereu (Gailey 36; line 4) showing
that Philmol is attempting to say something, for instance Tereus, and still trying to say
something even though she s a bird. As a bird she on the bright side has the ability to sing, but
her gift (Gailey 36; line 6) isn t the much helpful and as healing (Gailey 36; line 7). Coincidently,
the female nightingale is mute, while the males are the ones who sing which is weird in the
setting of the poem. Her sister Pronce is even mentioned, yet she forgets (Gailey 36; line 8) and
sings along nature. Philomel however never changes her tune (Gailey 36; line 10) and continues
to sing of something more, possibly important to her. So after they were turned into birds,
Pronce confided with nature and thus became what she now is, however in Philomel s case, she
still hung onto what happened to her and feels it still needs to be heard. Towards the end of the
poem, Philomel is described as stubborn (Gailey 36; line 15) possibly referring to this difference
in becoming of nature her and her sister have experienced. This stubborn description describes
Philomel in that she refuses to be what she is and still has something that she wants to be heard.

Drop is a measure of the gambling activity at the tables, but negative drop variances cannot be
taken to mean that the dealers were not productive. The drop is dependent on the table s
minimum and the number and type of players who chose to play at that table on that shift. To

1.Provide the definitions of critical path and critical chain. How do they differ?
Critical path and critical chain are both schedule network analysis techniques.
Critical path is the one that determines the shortest time to complete a project, which assumes low
uncertainty and does not consider resource dependencies.
Critical chain is a modified or refined technique about critical path; it involves the deterministic and
probabilistic approaches to analyze the project schedule, which is more realistic and practical than
critical path.

3.Describe common practices to estimate the duration of project activities as well as real reasons
that cause project delays.
Common practices to estimate the duration of project activities:
пЃ¬Down to Top: When asked about the time it takes to complete a task or activity in a whole
project, each owner of the activity tends to add his safety time to the reported number; therefore,
the project manager collects all the numbers from each owner and then adds his safety time to the
overall duration of the project, say, the total time to complete the project. The finalized total time is
more exaggerated.
пЃ¬Top to Down: When given the total time by project manager, higher level managers tend to
squeeze the time to reduce the time and cost. Therefore, lower level manager has to give up the
initial schedule to satisfy higher level managers. The finalized time depends on the complexity of
the organization: the more layers, the less time to complete a project.
Real reasons that causes project delays:
пЃ¬Resource constraint: If a resource is shared by many projects or activities, it would be used in
order of priority, thus leading to delay of activity or project with lower priority.
пЃ¬Dependency: If two activities are serial relationship, which means one relies on the completion

The Virgins By Robert Herrick And His Coy Mistress By...
To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time by Robert Herrick and To His Coy Mistress by Andrew
Marvell, are two different, yet similar poems. While both are presented in Carpe Diem form, each
poem approaches seizing the day in alternative ways. Herrick s poem is a caution to young, virgin
women that they should make the most of the moment, to find love now and not wait. Marvell s
poem is directly addressing a specific person, and slowly seducing them. Eventually declaring that
they should act immediately on their urges. These two poems have similar themes, but the one
constant throughout, is time.
The speakers use imagery and metaphors to convey the effects of time and the transient prime of
youth. Herrick s poem is crafted in four stanzas using a rhyming scheme of ABAB, and is written in
four quatrains. Beginning in his first stanza, the speaker mentions of assembling young women
and telling them to grab life and live now. Herrick writes, Gather ye rosebuds while ye may / Old
time is still a flying / And this same flower that smiles today / Tomorrow will be dying (lines 1
4). The speaker uses the images of rosebuds to symbolize youth and beauty. Once the flower
peaks and blooms, its beauty will fade. So, too, will the beauty of women as they grow older.
Furthermore, in the second stanza, the speaker sets the tone of the poem by writing, The glorious
lamp of heaven, the sun / The high he s a getting / The sooner will his race be run / And nearer he
s to setting (5 8). The

Interval Training Research Paper
How to Begin Interval Training When You Are Currently Sedentary
The benefits of a good interval training program are widely supported these days, in research and
in everyday life. Stronger muscles, a more efficient cardiovascular system, and a leaner, more
toned physique are just some of the results that have propelled interval training into style, even
above traditional steady state cardio sessions. Part of the reason this method of exercise works so
well is that it forces your body to adapt to much harsher stimuli than traditional exercise does by
pushing you into an anaerobic state. There is no doubt that brief, intense bouts of anaerobic training
are enormously beneficial to the seasoned exerciser, but to a beginner, they can be painful... Show

In general, a training program for complete beginners can have anywhere from five to ten
intervals of work separated by intervals of rest and recovery. The number of intervals can then be
increased depending on levels of fitness. You can perform almost any exercise of your choice in an
interval format, but cardio exercises like running, biking, and swimming are the most simple for
complete beginners to learn safely.
While you can vary the length and number of work intervals to match your goals, rest intervals
when you are first starting out from a sedentary lifestyle should be kept long enough so you feel
recovered and rested before starting the next work interval. This rule of thumb will help keep you
from injuring yourself before you become accustomed to what your body can handle.
Long, slow intervals of around two minutes or more are best if your goal is to eventually be able
to maintain a steady cardio pace without needing to take breaks. For example, if you want to
train to jog a 5k race, it would be worthwhile to do two to four long interval sessions per week to
build up your cardio capacity. Additionally, if it has been a long time since you have exercised
regularly, longer, slower intervals can help you get back into the game and get back to a basic level
of fitness. Stick to this interval length until you feel comfortable taking the next step into harder,

environment is training us to value ourselves based on the number of likes we get and the types
of comments that we receive. There s no separation between online and offline life. What s real
or what isn t is really hard to tell the difference between. Every day we approximately spend 8
hours exposed to different forms of media. It keeps us entertained, informed, and opinionated.
Media influences us through news, headlines and information we see online, on TV and radio. It
creeps into our daily lives set lean subconsciously through magazines and advertisements that
create and recreate standards of success, beauty and living. Our brain processes all these sets
information from a variety of sources and sometimes, we no longer wonder whether the
information is the truth or not, but rather just believe it right away. We react to it right away. We
no longer are watchful with what enters our minds. We no longer think twice before we respond.
We no longer identify ourselves from what influences us. Yes, media brings people together. It can
make us laugh, think, consider, and can make us feel right. But if we re

To Sleep is to Dream
I have often had dreams that were so real and vivid, that I was unable to tell if they truly
happened or occurred in my dreams. Sleeping is very important to everyone. Without proper
sleep, the body s immune system can begin to fail, and then one will become more susceptible to
virus, illnesses, and disease. Even when we are asleep, the human mind does not completely
sleep. When we are asleep, we tend to tune out environmental sounds that occur when we sleep.
For example, I live near a freeway, yet the sounds of it never wake me. The auditory cortex in our
brains respond to stimuli even when we are asleep. For example, I can always wake up when
one of my children calls my name while I am in a deep slumber. There have been many studies
and observations on individuals while they are asleep. These studies are done on individuals
who have sleep disorders. There are four phases of sleep, and when one does not get the proper
sleep, physical and mental issues will occur. Our bodies work in tides, and our minds and bodies
fluctuate. When our bodies seem to synchronize with the 24 hour day, it is referred to as the
circadian rhythm. It is the biological clock that tells us when it is day time we are awake, and
night time is when we are supposed to sleep. Age and experience can affect the circadian rhythm,
and I see this in myself. For instance, when I was in my teens and twenty s, I had no problem
staying up all night, whether it was working a graveyard shift, or

A Powerful Argument Analysis
The introduction section comprises of powerful argument techniques and the use of rhetoric
everywhere. One key point is the technique of commonplace, one of the building blocks of
persuasion, which is information or knowledge that is commonly shared among an audience that
creates an attitude of shared thinking. For example, Heinrichs uses pop culture examples of the
Matrix, Britney Spears and Animal House to better connect with the audience, therefore, making his
topic more interesting and relatable. Another key point is the technique of seduction where you
manipulate someone to desire something through appeals to emotion and the senses. Heinrichs uses
the Food Network as an example with its pleasing visuals and sounds of food. Another key... Show

The first step is setting your goal in what you what you want to achieve or obtain. True victory is
achieved when you get what you want from the other person not, necessarily, when you outscore
your opponent. The second step is determining your goals for your audience so you can determine
different techniques to change their mind. The persuasion of people can be achieved easier when you
change their mood, their opinion and their desire. The third step is determining the issue so you can
meet your goals. Blame, values and choice make up the three key categories of issues. To produce a
productive argument pinpointing the issue is imperative. The fourth step is selecting a correct
tense to prevent misinterpretations and accusations. The use of past tense determines guilt and
deals out punishment while the present tense distinguishes groups, gives praise and condemnation.
The future tense indicates future goals and how to achieve them. The final step is understanding
and fitting into the audience. In knowing the audience s beliefs and values you gain the mentality
and the knowledge of commonplace. The knowledge of this allows you to use decorum to better
connect with the audience and meet their expectations.
In chapter 13 of Thank you for Arguing, deductive and inductive logic are used to reach from a
commonplace to a conclusion and likewise, however, I m still confused in how the process of that

Visual Response Essay
In 2001, Morland et al. (2001) investigate the impact of visual dysfunction on cortical visual
responses with three different studies. This studies differ in the sense that the subjects have visual
deficits that are expressed at different levels of the visual system. First, they describe the effects
on the cortical visual maps of abnormal retinal receptor distributions that are found in rod
monochromacy (only possesses operating rod photoreceptors). Subject KN, aged 56 year old has
a complete absence of cone photoreceptors. KN also has a central scotoma which has been
estimated to be between 10 min and 1Вє, but estimates are error prone due to nystagmus. The
results show that the cortex undergoes a remapping whereby the regions that would normally...

Second, they evaluate how the information from each hemifield is represented in the human albino
areas. In human albinism the principle deficits occurs at the optic chiasm, where fibres undergo
almost complete crossing unlike the normal pattern in which approximately half of the fibres
project contralateral to the eye. In order to address the aim, they presented stimuli to the right and
left hemifields of an albino viewing monoculaly. Subject, aged 55 year old, tyrosinase positive,
female albino, who had best corrected acuity of 0.33 and nystagmus no greater than 3Вє in
amplitude. They found abnormal visual cortical activity in a human albino. Monocular stimulation
of each hemifield resulted in activations in the hemisphere contralateral to the stimulated eye. This
is consistent with abnormal decussation at the optic chiasm in albinism. They believed that the
reorganization is a likely consequence of developmental and not genetic factors as found in the
Boston pattern (Guillery, 1986). Finally, they described how visual field defects can be documented
with retinotopic mapping techniques in the case of cortical

Gaol Learning Experience
My three and a half months of working at the Huron County and Huron Historic Gaol have
flown by. Time has gone far too quickly and I cannot believe that my time here has come to a
close. I am so grateful for the opportunity I was given to work at the museum and gaol this
summer. It has been a learning experience that I will never forget. I began working at the
museum and gaol in May. The first month centred on familiarizing myself with the two buildings
and gaining and understanding as to how they function. I spent time learning about the history of
both sites. I took place in an orientation for about the first two weeks of work. The orientation
was led by museum curator, Patricia Hamilton. I was guided through the Huron County Museum,
Huron Historic gaol and Sky Harbour Gallery with the help of Pat and the audio tour mates. Pat
gave us students all of the basic knowledge that we would need to know about the three sites in
order to answer questions from tourists and the general public. I learned a lot about each exhibit
on display, as well as about the buildings themselves. The next part of orientation was performed
by Jeremy, who have us a tutorial on how to run the cash registers. He... Show more content on

Also at the gaol, I helped to open the loom room. I was taught by a volunteer how to weave. It
seemed that in July I was constantly learning new and interesting things about the museum and
gaol. My interest in legal studies reached an all time high throughout July as I read through
records from the gaol. I became extremely invested in the Steven Truscott case, and began
researching information about that case and others like it, as well as the gaol in general outside of
work hours. My interest in the history of Huron County was reignited as well. Throughout July, I
increased my overall awareness of the county in which I grew up

I Am Silent As A Mouse
Bang! There was a loud boom sound as the dinner plates shattered. I stood silent as a mouse. I
did not know what to say or do. My children Sam and Elle; both aged 12, just asked me about
ww2. For you it could just be history but for me; a Jewish woman named Beth Smith is my past.
Yes, my past! I thought for a minute or two, how long could i hide the horrific truth. Well, they
were old enough to know about the grandparents. Quickly I gathered them both to tell them my
story. My terrifying past! Just before I began I felt a shiver just like 30 years ago. A shiver where it
all started...
It began with you grandparents and me hiding from the Germans. Behind the bookshelf was a
camouflaged, pale, white door where I and my family used to hide for protection. However, one
foggy, windy, cold day the Germans started to destroy everything that was in the house and found
us! I still remember when the door banged opened and the bullets flied like a rocket to the ceiling.
Loudly, they shouted surrender or face the terrible consequence! before we surrendered ourselves
and started to walk I had the family hug. A hug that I yearn for. As time rushed fast, 8 hours later I
reached at the dull, muddy, petrifying camp. The camp that most people talked about. The camp that
crumbled people s lives...
As soon as we got there I got spilt up with my parents. I could never live without my parents, I just
don t know how I finally managed. It felt like my own blood ripped apart from me. I could only see

The challenge relating to the custom procedures for the importation of water testing was also due to
the unclear of administrative procedures. The field investigator wanted to import the water testing
without paying import tax as the water tests were not for profit. However, in order to be
exempted from import tax, it requires a formal signed agreement between a local origination and a
foreign organisation indicating that these tests are not for profit, the approvals at ministerial level
on the formal signed agreement. Because a formal signed agreement and a ministerial approval
are not available for the field research, the importation of the Coliplate tests is not exempted from
importation tax. The field investigator decided to pay tax to import the water tests in time for the
implementation of the field activities, and explore ways to pursue tax claim later on. The local
partner has helped the field investigator to contact with Ministry of Finance for claiming the import
tax return of the water tests. However, it was replied that there is insufficient documents to prove
that the field investigator is eligible to claim import tax for the water tests.

Fascism In Wine And Wine Chapter Analysis
The novel of Bread and Wine
, written by Ignazio Silone, tells the tale of the Catholic
Church and its betrayal of Italian Catholics by embracing the fascists in Italy. The story is set in
rural Italy, where Pietro Spina, disguised as a priest, begins to question everything. He questions
Catholicism and the Communist Party after the Italian invasion of Ethiopia. Having to hide in
rural Italy disguised as a priest, Mr. Spina s story is a testament to the difficulty of living as an
open minded person in a country so repressive and in pursuit of communists and other political
opponents. By 1935, fascism was affecting every Italian living in Italy, even the peasants, and rural
Italy became a place where fascism and communism collided in pursuit of power. Bread ... Show

90).
Scope of Influence
Fascism had a large influence in Italy, as demonstrated by Mr. Spina s struggles living as a
dissident in hiding. The Italian government was extremely repressive of its opponents, but not only
that. The Catholic Church s support for the fascist government and some of its actions, such as the
invasion of Ethiopia, made it much more difficult for people like Mr. Spina to accept their faith.
For rural Italians and peasants, fascism affected their daily lives even though many of them did not
care about politics or the current situation abroad. Some were killed because of the fascist regime s
brutality and its close minded philosophy.
The most important thing that I got from this book was how fascism thrives by looking at the past
and exploiting it to push ideas for the future. When a fascist talks about how great the past was
even though it might have been at the expense of other people s rights it attracts a

the intake of milk (10 ounces), and females drink roughly 14 ounces of soft drinks and only 6
ounces of milk (Kushi LH, 2006).
Eating Disorders
Adolescents are especially susceptible to eating disorders because of the development of their
self image around this time of their lives. Bulimia, anorexia and binge eating are all eating
disorders that teenagers suffer from. Results of Anorexia nervosa can prove to be fatal; as the
body is starved so are the muscles. The heart, being a muscle, can consequently begin to weaken,
and heart failure will very likely become a reality. The low levels of sodium, zinc, potassium and
calcium, associated with anorexia can cause unusual heart rhythms. Sudden death caused by
electrolyte and mineral disorder may happen. The blood bone marrow is also interrupted. Anemia
is related with the amount of weight lost and the decreased capability to fight pathogens and
infections [ (CDC) ]. Obtaining the accurate figures, in terms of the prevalence and other facts
about eating disorders is difficult. It is not mandatory for Anorexia Nervosa and Related Eating
Disorders (ANRED) to report eating disorders; this, the secretiveness, and denial of people with
eating disorders makes it difficult to obtain an accurate idea of the prevalence of eating disorders in
the U.S.A. According to the National Eating Disorders

Basketball Games Should Be Taught At The University Of Kansas
Each year across colleges in the United States, college students, alumni, and diehard fans crowd
into sports arenas at least once a week starting in November until February. These crowds are
celebrating and cheering for their college men s basketball teams. For the University of Kansas, this
arena is the historic Allen Fieldhouse. It is consistently ranked the most difficult venue to play
basketball in the Big 12 Conference, and holds the second largest crowd of the ten university teams
in the Big 12 with the capacity for 16,300 fans (Medcalf para. 21). The students attending the

For KU students, upholding this advantage is no challenge. Through signs, songs, and chants,
the student section creates an intimidating environment for the opponents, while showing their
undying support for the Jayhawk players. Traditions begin as early as two hours before tip off
when the student doors are opened and allow the players peers to rush in for a spot close to the
court. The sections reserved for students are the lower sections behind both goals, and the
northwest corner of Allen Fieldhouse. The band begins playing a melody of popular songs 45
minutes before the game begins. By now, the stands are already filled to capacity, and the
general admission ticket holders begin filing in. There is a lot of casual conversation between
the students, only to be interrupted when the band plays certain songs; students yell out Tequila!
during the song Tequila by The Champs, and sing along to the entirety of Bohemian Rhapsody
by Queen. These songs are fun traditions, but the more deeply rooted KU tradition concerning
music is the singing of the Alma Mater before the game begins. The Alma Mater is a modified
version of Crimson and the Blue to only include the first verse and the chorus. Students wrap their
arms around each other and sway side to side. They bellow out the song as a guest performer sings
over the sound system. At the end of the song comes the lyric Hail to old KU, which signals the
students to point to the sky with both arms which forms a

Kotter Model Case Study
With the proliferation of threats and uncertainty of the security environment, the role of the army
has become increasingly central in protecting the American interests. Since the realization of this
mission is a collective task, leadership remains the best way to give commanders, at every
echelon, the necessary qualities to lead their Soldiers, maintain focus, and preserve a healthy
environment to ensure the achievement of objectives. The case of the 4th ABCT presents clear
evidence in this area. Three years ago, it was considered one of the best maneuver brigades in
FORSCOM. Today, because of multitude of problems, mainly related to leadership, this unit
appears unable to find its identity of model unit. As new commander, and after identifying the lack
of esprit de corps as the main leadership problem, my vision consist in restoring the 4th ABCT
image by using Kotter model with a focus on measuring effectiveness during the process.

commissioner of the New York Police Department from 1994 to 1996, who led a veritable change
within the New York Police Department (Andrea R. Nagy. Joel Podolny L103RC).
The first step in creating successful change is establishing a sense of urgency. The previous
image for the Brigade will be my landmark to convince who resist changing. I will demonstrate
that our collective interest is to change as soon as possible to revive the mutual trust and the
pride to belonging to one of the best maneuver brigade in FORSCOM. I will argue that change
will release us from stress, will give us means to balance between our military career and our
social. I will also warn that any delay in starting change will certainly affect the future of each one

America s Disagreement During The Vietnam War
The Quebec Agreement was signed on August 19, 1943 between the United States and Great
Britain and guaranteed that the two countries would share scientific information relating to the
atomic bomb project, also known as interchange. From the beginning of the project they had agreed
to share information in order for a bomb to be built during the war, but once it moved into the
development stage James Conant suggested to President Roosevelt that their agreement was no
longer viable. Conant argued that the bomb could not possibly be used by the British during the
war and therefore the United Statesdid not have to honor the interchange agreement. The United
States was not ready to enter into a post war alliance at that point and it was obvious that Britain
did not have the resources necessary to build bombs that could be used during the war. However,
the realities of the post war situation eventually won the day and the United States and Great
Britain resumed full... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

What Is The Difference Between Monet s Garden And Picasso...
Differences between Two Famous Artists Artwork
Artwork could be defined as a universal language that can carry ideas and emotions of an artist
toward audiences via a particular narrative. Presently, there are many memorable art pieces from
various artists. Claude Monet and Pablo Picasso have become prominent from their unique styles of
artwork, which conveys a profound feeling through basic elements of art, such as the use of color
and a narrative. Although two of them are highly notable for art, there are four differences between
Monet s garden and Picasso s garden, which are artist s background information, technique,
inspiration and meaning.
The first difference between Monet s garden and Picasso s garden is artist s background information.

Meaning is an explanation that uses to describe an emotion in the scene, which leads the
audience to a better interpretation of a narrative in the painting. Monet uses a quick painted
style to portray reality, which, in this case, is a collective joy of intimate friends in a garden
(Walton, 2007). In the foreground, there is a graceful woman sitting under the tree and smiling
at the sounds of her two friends flirting behind her. A man and a woman seem to share a
flirtatious conversation as the woman appears a pink flush on her cheeks while answering the
man s question, covering her face with a bouquet of flowers in her hands, and sneakily looking at
the man s face. Another woman, young and innocent, staying in the background, is delightfully
admiring the flower bushes around her with a beaming smile appeared on her lips. She seems to
be one of the nature lovers who can solely spend most of her time outdoor amid the flower
garden. The feelings of these three people are all freshened up by the delightful talk and the
support of natural surrounding around them. On the contrary, Picasso prefers a sharp painting style
represented in geometric shapes, such as triangle, rectangle or oval, which may lead audiences to
have a profound feeling ( Pablo Picasso, 2009). Considering the painting named Seated woman in
a garden , Picasso captures a moment of a woman sitting alone in a spacious garden. Perhaps the
woman is waiting for her lover at the appointment; however, as she waits longer she does not
seem to see her love, therefore appearing gloomy features. In addition, the nature around her
seems to reciprocate her grief by appearing leaves in a dull tone of green color instead of the
freshly light green as revealed in the Monet s garden. Thus, the painting of Monet is more
appealing due to the delightful story of lively friends, a pleasant couple, and a nature lover, which

Consequences Of Violating A Norm
Social norms are behaviors, feelings and cognitions that a certain group has deemed as
acceptable. People raised in a certain society or in a certain culture usually behave accordingly
to those norms. These set of rules help guide people s actions by letting them know what
behavior is considered appropriate and making them think twice before violating them. Most
people want to fit in and when someone violates a social norm they may be seen as different or
as an outcast. That is why the majority is motivated to behave consistently with these beliefs,
even if it goes against their personal believes (Chang, Koban, 2013). Consequences of violating a
norm might just be getting weird looks but in more extreme situations people might get
ostracized and even bullied. I have been out in public many times and have caught someone
picking their nose or pulling out a wedgie. People violating social norms can be funny or perhaps
a little gross sometimes but it can also be highly uncomfortable and annoying. The last time I
went to go watch a movie in theatres my experience was completely ruined by a group of girls
sitting behind me. Throughout the whole movie the girls would not stop talking. I was instantly in
a bad mood and made a causal attribution that their behavior was due to them being rude and
inconsiderate people. However, looking back maybe I should have made a situational attribution.
We were watching a scary movie and talking was probably their way of coping with the fear. In

  • 2. Persuasion Essay Persuasion is a talent, a talent to create a scenario in which one can impact, influence and change a preexisting line of thought of an individual. It is a powerful tool and it can be used to either impact, positively or negatively, the attitude and belief of another or others. It is an integral part of communication that puts one of the party involved in contact with the concepts that are created by others. Similar to communication, persuasion is also a transaction of give and take, receiving and sending of messages between one another. The major difference is that persuasion is more of a technique whereby we try to create an impression on the other person. In persuasion, we focus more on persuading someone to believe or to do something ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The major difference between persuasion and communication is that persuasion is a conscious effort made to influence the party, along with the awareness that the persuader has a susceptible mind that may change. Persuasion needs to have a conclusion and a message. The responses are modified by symbolic transactions which are linked to the emotions and sentiments of the target. Communication does not focus on trying to change an individual. It is simply an exchange of information and it can be verbal or non verbal. In the business world persuasion is highly crucial and it is critical not only to ensure success but also to create an environment in which the team can be motivated and be unified. Good persuasion skills help you to achieve your goals by influencing others. And this is definitely the foundation for success in any big or small business. The ability to be persuasive requires a trusting and a positive relationship and to build such relationship requires time, attention and the willingness to give and take. These skills can be learnt just as easily as any other skill, but the magic is in to know when and how to use the skill to benefit oneself. Effective persuasion needs a person to keep few important things in. A good persuader not only has good communication skills but also has empathy, good listening skills, knows how to build a rapport and win trust. Body language is also important as the ... • 4. Tuberculosis As A Contagious Disease What is Tuberculosis? Tuberculosis, TB for short, is an ancient disease that has been around even before the first recorded disease in the history. This disease can be found in Egyptian mummies from 4000 BC. Tuberculosis is caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, or tubercle bacillus ( Centers for disease, 2011). Tuberculosisis primarily a disease of the lungs, but the TB bacterium can also travel through blood stream and attack any part of the body like kidney, spine and brain (Hamann, 1994). According to CDC, tuberculosis is considered one of the world s deadliest diseases; 1/3 of the world s population suffers from TB infection, in 2010, there were nearly nine million people that became sick with TB around the world, and TB is the... Although some of the some scientist back in 1719, Benjamin Martin wrote a book called A New Theory of Consumption, More Especially of Phthisis or Consumption of the Lungs, in this book he noted the likelihood of the tuberculosis contagion stating that close proximity to someone that has this disease causes the other person to acquired it (Reichman Hershfield, 2000). Which in a way, Benjamin Martin, is right on point. Tuberculosis is an airborne disease, which means its main mode of transmission is through the air. Animals such as cattle can carrier the bacteria, but most cause human is the main reservoir of this disease (Hamann, 1994). When an infected person that has active tuberculosis will be able to infect the air around him/her by sneezing, coughing, speaking or even singing ( Centers for disease, 2011). The airborne droplet of the bacteria lingers longer in the air and thus people that are in close proximity or just happen to walk by and breathe in the bacteria will become infected. Unlike any other contagious disease, TB is not spread by shaking someone s hand, sharing food or drink, touching bed lines or toilet seat, sharing personal items and kissing. • 5. Argument Analysis In this week s article, we anayzled an Ad, created by a company called Canada Oil Sands Community. The Ad s main focus was on two white, attractive women their lips barely touching, and they are embracing each other. The Ad says In Canada lesbians are considered hot! In Saudi Arabia if you re a lesbian YOU DIE! then goes on to say why buy oil from companies who don t think lesbians are hot? Choose equality! Choose Canadian oil! The creator of the Ad, Robbie Picard, is gay himself, as well as Metis. The post originally was just a marketingploy, and while issuing his apology Picard said he is glad it is drawing attention, and will take the backlash if the issue is getting to the root of the problem which to his defence is Saudi Arabia not accepting LGBT people into their society. Picard states that It was not my intent of demeaning women or any people of any sexual orientation. ,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ads like Versus, Gucci and even Old Navy play up the act of two women married, and make even a simple hug dehumanizing. It s been widely acknowledged by many that LGBTQ* women are more widely accepted than LGBTQ* men. One of the possible reasons for this is because queer women have been largely accepted by the majority straight white males. The spokesperson for the LGBTQ* community is usually a white female, take Orange is the New Black, the main character is a white female and although they feature other people (those also who are of colour), the focus is on a white, pretty lesbian. Although this Ad was just one guy trying to draw attention to his company, which he did; he is drawing even more attention to the exploitation of LGBTQ* women. Picard s motive was to draw the most attention, and to apply to his white, male population. By not putting two males or two women of colour, he is signifying that white women are over sexualized to the generic public aka white ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Benefits Of Intrauterine Insemination ( Iui ), And... In today s world there are several options for couples who are wanting to begin or add to the number of members in their families, but have had difficulties in doing so. Aside from adoption, the possibilities for these couples include: Intrauterine Insemination (IUI), In vitro Fertilization (IVI), and Surrogate Mother Arrangements. While these options may result in a pregnancy, they are not without risk and must be considered prayerfully, as they carry a moral and ethical weight. First, Intrauterine Insemination, also known as artificial insemination, is a process commonly used for unexplained infertility in which specially washed sperm is directly inserted into the uterus (Christianlifesources). Most clinics offer for the woman to remain lying down for a few minutes after the procedure, although it has not been shown to improve success. The sperm has been put above the vagina and cervix it will not leak out when you stand up (Advanced Fertilization). During the IUI procedure, Doctors place the sperm higher in the cervix than with Intracervical or ICI procedures, resulting in higher percentages of pregnancy. Doctors utilize IUI in situations where women experience problems with ovulation, mild cases of endometriosis, and cervical factor infertility (advanced fertility). Clients also benefit from IUI when male factor infertility is an issue, however, If the sperm count, motility and morphology scores are quite low, intrauterine insemination is unlikely to work (Advanced ... In William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet, two individuals from different worlds find a way to come together even in the face of their families altercations to find true love. After receiving good news from Romeo the Nurse heads back to the Capulet home and says to Juliet, I am aweary. Give me leave awhile. Fie, how my bones ache! What a jaunt have I! (2.5.25). This represents that the Nurse has become tired and needs to relax after Juliet s requests for her to speak with Romeo. Though the nurse feels weak and needs some time to settle down a bit but instead she explains all of what happened to Juliet. This is an example of staying calm and happy when you are stressed or down. Romeo s new love interest brings a sense of distress to the Friar. The Friar has hope that the marriage could reunite the Capulet and Montague. He always keeps his hope throughout the play. The Friar acts as a friend to Juliet when Romeo was exiled. When Friar Lawrence hears the news that Romeo has been exiled he comes up with a plan for Juliet and says, Hold. Get you gone. Be strong and prosperous In this resolve (4.1.126). The Friars only son like figure has been sent away indefinitely and still instead of being full of anger he simply helps Juliet without a thought of his own feelings. The reason marriage was created was to join two people of the opposite sex together in a holy sacrament that would make the couple one. Many couples that have premarital sex often do not stay together in marriage. Many people have strong emotional hardships that they go through after having premarital sex. Premarital sex doesn t just lead to sin; it leads to a separation of God and your family and friends. Sex is the sacred sigh of the covenant with God, when a couple has sex they are sealing the covenant with God. • 11. Gregory The Great Accomplishments For over a period of seven hundred plus years, from Gregory the Great s papacy to Boniface VIII s papacy, the world experienced many influential popes, whose accomplishments changed the course of history. Many of these popes become known for both their positive accomplishments, which brought prosperity to their people, and for their failures, which in many cases led to their own death. Throughout the given time period, PopeNicholas II, Pope Gregory VII, Pope Innocent III, and Pope Gregory IX, were all influential popes whose accomplishments are what they are most remembered for. First, Pope Nicholas II decreed that the College of Cardinals would obtain authority to choose the pope. The College of Cardinals was made up of a group of Roman Church officials who were in charge of electing the pope, which was put in place to prevent kings from selecting popes. The declaration made by Nicholas II for the continuation of the College of Cardinals led to the declaring of independence from political structure. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To begin, this paper will first address the causation of the 1970 October Crisis and the origins of Quebec autonomy through separation. Going back to the election of Jean Lesage and the Quiet Revolution in 1960 s, it marked a period in which provincial autonomy would inspire nationalism. Elected under the phrase It s time for a change , Jean Lesage would implement an attitude of high modernism that saw the secularization of industry, education and healthcare. By extension of the high modernist attitude, projects such as the nationalization of Quebec Hydro also saw the construction of large scale projects furthering provincial autonomy through job creation and wealth. The Hydro Quebec project under Minister Rene Levesque would become an important symbol in QuГ©bec by showing the ingenuity of the QuГ©bГ©cois to complete such an ambitious project . Through the strengthening of a QuГ©bГ©cois identity during the Quiet Revolution,iIt would further motivate existing nationalist organizations to push the provincial government for greater independence. Separatist groups such as the Ralliement National, CSN and Front de Liberation du QuГ©bec began as municipal and grassroots organizations advocating for greater provincial autonomy through separation. These separatist groups were also driven by a suppression of French identity by an English minority in the province, issues of economic inequality and bilingualism further motivated francophone ... • 13. The Cultural Beliefs Affect The Culture Of Immigrants The Cultural environment is a set of beliefs, practices, customs, and behaviors which are familiar to people in a specific population. There are essential components of culture which include language and symbols. Symbols show the meaning and actions of events while the word conveys the values and beliefs of religionwhich allows the members of the society to pass on the cultural expectations of other generations. The following factors affect the cultureof immigrants to a new population where they settle (Oberg, 1960). Religious beliefs of a community are the beliefs and building blocks of a cultural environment. They dictate the beliefs in supernatural power. When a new member is added or moves in a new community which of course is bounded with particular religious beliefs, they find it a challenge to adapting to the new Christian ideas. To be well off with the places, what kind of worship they offer, how they do their offerings which is of course entirely different with the one from the new member s culture, they have to be dedicated to getting involved in the religious functions entirely. The most significant challenge comes when the new member in the literature does not show interest in the new environments religious beliefs and might be discriminated as people may view them as unholy or spies to their way of life hence might be chased away. Another critical factor in a culture of a community is family and relationships. The family is the building block of society, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Energy As An Source Of Energy For Electricity Essay What is the idea Solar Energy as an alternate source of energy for electricity. Why is this important idea There are many reasons why l think the installation of solar power should be considered as an alternating source of power in our homes: 1.We must be concerned about the environmental effect and reliance on fossil fuels (Since United State has 67% of its source of power from fossil fuels). 2.We should improve the value of our property by investing in solar panels. 3.We would like to be less dependent on big business supplying our energy needs. To whom is it important especially industries, people living mostly in the rural and urban areas get affected by shortage of electricity The installation of the solar panels is not difficult to develop. Solar electricity, is generated when electrons are freed by the interaction of sunlight with the semiconductor materials in the solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, and are then captured in an electronic current. This DC current is then carried through an inverter that converts the current into 120C AC power (which is the current used by American appliances. The current conversion will be different in other countries). The AC power then travels via a disconnect switch (for safety) to your fuse box and your appliances or into the main electricity grid if your panels are producing more electricity than you are using at the time. A solar power system consists of panels, an inverter, a disconnect switch, wiring, and an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The tank treads that we had researched and trusted had snapped in half. Most of us yelled in frustration, but not our team leaders, Max and Matt. They picked up the robot, brought it back to the work table, and within an hour, they had orchestrated a creative solution to the snapped tread. Watching the way they managed the situation, I felt inspired: I was only a freshman but I wanted to know what they knew. Over the course of the next two years, I learned from Max and Matt the different ways to cut metal, how to solder wire, how to write basic code for the robot, and how to design mechanisms that would ensure the greatest reliability. I learned how to document my work in an engineering notebook and how to explain to judges the way our team operates. As I gained more experience and grew more committed to the team, I began to come into the robotics lab during lunch and on Sundays. I was always eager to keep working. • 26. The Picture Of Dorian Gray, And The Phantom Of The Beholder There is an old saying that declares: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder . This suggests that beauty is subjective, and lacks a concrete contextualized definition; what is perceived by one individual as attractive, may be, by another, considered unattractive. Regardless of the subjective nature of beauty, society still conforms to beauty ideals, which are propagated and fueled by the media. The beauty ideals that are self imposed by society are problematic because they are unattainable, and galvanize society to reject or promote people based on their outward appearance and hold people s inner beauty in less regard. The imbalance between physical (outward) appearance and inward is a key theme in both The Picture of Dorian Gray, and The Phantom of the Opera. In both novels, the main characters are subject to judgment that is overwhelmingly directed at their outward appearance, and we see an over emphasis of the superficial, which ultimately leads to their downfall. Another important thematic element present in both novels is that the main characters have conflicting dual personalities that have changing roles as the story progresses. A contrasting thematic element in both books is the excessive praise that the main character in The Picture of Dorian Gray received, and the excessive criticism that the main character in The Phantom of the Opera received, both leading to negative outcomes, and the characters ultimate demise. Although each of these paintings of the Madonna and Child depicts the same Christian iconography of Mary and Jesus, their differences in composition and style influence their meaning, with each paintingreflecting the individual artist who painted it and the different time period during which it was created. The subject matter of both of these National Gallery of Ireland Madonna and Child works is unmistakably Mary, who was assumed into heaven upon her death, and her son, Jesus Christ, born free of original sin through the Immaculate Conception. You shall not steal, nor deal falsely, nor lie to one another Leviticus 19:11 (Dake s Annontated Reference Bible) is the basic principle of life as well business. Everyone understands what stealing means, but forgets you are stealing when you take a business s logo, name, trademark, or identity. Stealing does not have to be a physical object that belongs to a business. It can be something that they have created such as a song or product. This paper will talk about the importance of protecting businesses by using patents, copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, and businesses propertyrights. Patents The United States Patent Office is where companies or individuals can file documents to obtain a legal monopoly for a product or process that they have created (Jennings, 2015). Three types of patents include utility or machines lasting 20 years, the design, or production that lasts 14 years, and plant that lasts 20 years. Because of the race to be the first person to invent or create a product the America Invents Act (AIA) came about in 2011. This allowed Americans to compete with other countries that had filed before them as well as increase the patent process from 3 to 4 years to 12 months. Her sister Pronce is even mentioned, yet she forgets (Gailey 36; line 8) and sings along nature. Philomel however never changes her tune (Gailey 36; line 10) and continues to sing of something more, possibly important to her. So after they were turned into birds, Pronce confided with nature and thus became what she now is, however in Philomel s case, she still hung onto what happened to her and feels it still needs to be heard. Towards the end of the poem, Philomel is described as stubborn (Gailey 36; line 15) possibly referring to this difference in becoming of nature her and her sister have experienced. This stubborn description describes Philomel in that she refuses to be what she is and still has something that she wants to be heard. First, it illustrates a control system that is dominated by action and personnel controls, rather than results controls. The analysis of this system leads to insights about some of the factors that limit the feasibility of results controls. Second, the case can lead into a discussion of what is meant by the term tight control. The case presents an excellent example of the application of tight action controls in the table games areas of the casino. Finally, the case can lead into a discussion of the meaning of what auditors refer to as internal control, which is a subset of the broader area... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Drop is a measure of the gambling activity at the tables, but negative drop variances cannot be taken to mean that the dealers were not productive. The drop is dependent on the table s minimum and the number and type of players who chose to play at that table on that shift. To illustrate, ask if the drop results for blackjack Table 19 in Exhibit 12 (variance percentage of в€’28.52) suggest that the dealers on that table that day were doing something poorly (e.g., slow dealing) or dishonestly (stealing money before it was put into the drop box)? Critical path is the one that determines the shortest time to complete a project, which assumes low uncertainty and does not consider resource dependencies. Critical chain is a modified or refined technique about critical path; it involves the deterministic and probabilistic approaches to analyze the project schedule, which is more realistic and practical than critical path. Common practices to estimate the duration of project activities: пЃ¬Down to Top: When asked about the time it takes to complete a task or activity in a whole project, each owner of the activity tends to add his safety time to the reported number; therefore, the project manager collects all the numbers from each owner and then adds his safety time to the overall duration of the project, say, the total time to complete the project. The finalized total time is more exaggerated. пЃ¬Top to Down: When given the total time by project manager, higher level managers tend to squeeze the time to reduce the time and cost. Therefore, lower level manager has to give up the initial schedule to satisfy higher level managers. The finalized time depends on the complexity of the organization: the more layers, the less time to complete a project. Real reasons that causes project delays: пЃ¬Resource constraint: If a resource is shared by many projects or activities, it would be used in order of priority, thus leading to delay of activity or project with lower priority. пЃ¬Dependency: If two activities are serial relationship, which means one relies on the completion of

  • 40. The Virgins By Robert Herrick And His Coy Mistress By... To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time by Robert Herrick and To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell, are two different, yet similar poems. While both are presented in Carpe Diem form, each poem approaches seizing the day in alternative ways. Herrick s poem is a caution to young, virgin women that they should make the most of the moment, to find love now and not wait. Marvell s poem is directly addressing a specific person, and slowly seducing them. Eventually declaring that they should act immediately on their urges. These two poems have similar themes, but the one constant throughout, is time. The speakers use imagery and metaphors to convey the effects of time and the transient prime of youth. Herrick s poem is crafted in four stanzas using a rhyming scheme of ABAB, and is written in four quatrains. Beginning in his first stanza, the speaker mentions of assembling young women and telling them to grab life and live now. Herrick writes, Gather ye rosebuds while ye may / Old time is still a flying / And this same flower that smiles today / Tomorrow will be dying (lines 1 4). The speaker uses the images of rosebuds to symbolize youth and beauty. Once the flower peaks and blooms, its beauty will fade. So, too, will the beauty of women as they grow older. Furthermore, in the second stanza, the speaker sets the tone of the poem by writing, The glorious lamp of heaven, the sun / The high he s a getting / The sooner will his race be run / And nearer he s to setting (5 8). • 41. Interval Training Research Paper How to Begin Interval Training When You Are Currently Sedentary The benefits of a good interval training program are widely supported these days, in research and in everyday life. Stronger muscles, a more efficient cardiovascular system, and a leaner, more toned physique are just some of the results that have propelled interval training into style, even above traditional steady state cardio sessions. Part of the reason this method of exercise works so well is that it forces your body to adapt to much harsher stimuli than traditional exercise does by pushing you into an anaerobic state. There is no doubt that brief, intense bouts of anaerobic training are enormously beneficial to the seasoned exerciser, but to a beginner, they can be painful... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In general, a training program for complete beginners can have anywhere from five to ten intervals of work separated by intervals of rest and recovery. The number of intervals can then be increased depending on levels of fitness. You can perform almost any exercise of your choice in an interval format, but cardio exercises like running, biking, and swimming are the most simple for complete beginners to learn safely. While you can vary the length and number of work intervals to match your goals, rest intervals when you are first starting out from a sedentary lifestyle should be kept long enough so you feel recovered and rested before starting the next work interval. This rule of thumb will help keep you from injuring yourself before you become accustomed to what your body can handle. Long, slow intervals of around two minutes or more are best if your goal is to eventually be able to maintain a steady cardio pace without needing to take breaks. For example, if you want to train to jog a 5k race, it would be worthwhile to do two to four long interval sessions per week to build up your cardio capacity. Additionally, if it has been a long time since you have exercised regularly, longer, slower intervals can help you get back into the game and get back to a basic level of fitness. Stick to this interval length until you feel comfortable taking the next step into harder, faster ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Without proper sleep, the body s immune system can begin to fail, and then one will become more susceptible to virus, illnesses, and disease. Even when we are asleep, the human mind does not completely sleep. When we are asleep, we tend to tune out environmental sounds that occur when we sleep. For example, I live near a freeway, yet the sounds of it never wake me. The auditory cortex in our brains respond to stimuli even when we are asleep. For example, I can always wake up when one of my children calls my name while I am in a deep slumber. There have been many studies and observations on individuals while they are asleep. These studies are done on individuals who have sleep disorders. There are four phases of sleep, and when one does not get the proper sleep, physical and mental issues will occur. Our bodies work in tides, and our minds and bodies fluctuate. When our bodies seem to synchronize with the 24 hour day, it is referred to as the circadian rhythm. It is the biological clock that tells us when it is day time we are awake, and night time is when we are supposed to sleep. The persuasion of people can be achieved easier when you change their mood, their opinion and their desire. The third step is determining the issue so you can meet your goals. Blame, values and choice make up the three key categories of issues. To produce a productive argument pinpointing the issue is imperative. The fourth step is selecting a correct tense to prevent misinterpretations and accusations. The use of past tense determines guilt and deals out punishment while the present tense distinguishes groups, gives praise and condemnation. The future tense indicates future goals and how to achieve them. The final step is understanding and fitting into the audience.
