Why Am I Here
Why are You Here? I have fallen short in many ways towards the goals that I have
made in my life.
No matter how high the standard is set, and whether failure awaits me,
perseverance and my faith will carry me on. Some would label me as a dreamer.
Someone could say I have reality to face, but without dreams we have no hope, and
without hope we have nothing inside of us to fuel our deep passion to succeed and
win the race that we have been running. Everyone has his own opinion about college
and how important it is, but only a few will take the initiative to follow through and
back what they stand for. Though a college degree in engineering seems unreachable,
I will strive to make this the first foundational block for my future ... Show more

Through four and a half months of training in technical school, they were able to
mold me into what they expect in the ordinance branch. So far, this has been an
amazing experience, and I am proud of being a small part of the big picture. With
that said, I am here for one reason and one reason only. I no longer have my parents
direction, or have someone showing me what is right, and I would be wrong in
making my time here meaningless. Many of my peers would say this is one big
party and that they are here for the girls and the cheap beer, but if I wanted to party,
I wouldn t have chosen to pay so much for one. I think it would be ridiculous of me
to waste a perfectly good opportunity to become the man that I was made to be. My
past was unbalanced and reckless, and it would be easy for me to fall back into my
old ways, so it would be wise of me to stay focused while I am here. My life was
very structured and it drove me to want something different, but when I had to face
my consequences, I soon came to want exactly what I was running from. Ironically
enough, I am beginning to see what they were trying to do as parents. It would be
nice to finally make them proud to be an influence in my life, and I will do my
best to make that happen. Perception is a lot, and reputation is more, so I plan to
do my best to represent the uniform I wear everywhere I go. When I finally
accomplish these goals, maybe I will be ready for the next mission, but for now it is
Persuasive Essay On Renewable Energy
Renewable energy is the source of the future energy developments. We are seeing a
dramatic shift in the attitude toward renewable energy throughout the world.
Many countries turning towards cleaner methods and more safe, practical, and
efficient. Countries such as Norway and iceland are almost one hundred percent
run on renewable resources with clean energy and air. Focusing specifically on the
United States, we have an issue with change and die to the fact of political and
economic pressures we have a true wicked problem in our midst. As a country the
united states which has a population of only 332,000,000 people so compared with
that of india whose population is 1.34 billion we should be surpassing them in
clean energy because numerically that would make sense. Looking at the statistical
charts that is not the case, the united states ranks second in highest CO2 emissions
while india a country whose population who is almost five times larger than ours
ranks behind us at the number four spot in CO2 emissions. So what is the issue,
well it goes back to the reason that this is a wicked problem you see we could
completely outlaw and abolish non natural sources of energy and clean production.
If that were to happen it would put many power, coal, and other unnatural energy
companies out of business because they would no longer be relevant. The issue is it
s simply political clean energy bills are voted in the senate and house, but the people

The Separation Process Of Naphthalene And Benzoic Acid
Naphthalene and benzoic acid are two compounds studied in this experiment. Sodium
benzoate is also an important substance involved in the separation process. The
separation technique used to extract the different compounds of a heterogeneous
mixture is based on solubility and density. Regarding naphthalene and benzoic acid,
their chemical properties differ from one another (Separation 1). The detailed
separation process of naphthalene and benzoic acid, found in a mixture, follows. First
of, when mixed together, benzoic acid and sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) react and
produce sodium benzoate, water and carbon dioxide (Separation 2).
Water has a particular density and naphthalene, as well as benzoic acid, are insoluble
in water. Regarding naphthalene, it does not react with sodium bicarbonate, but it
dissolves in ether () (Separation 2). Thus, by adding sodium bicarbonate and ether to
the benzoic acid naphthalene mixture, one is left with immiscible aqueous sodium
benzoate and naphthalene in ether solutions. Furthermore, ether is less dense than
water and so, an ether layer floats on water as the two solvents are mixed (U of
Missouri). Next, Pasteur pipettes are used to mix thoroughly the resulting solution, so
that the two distinct layers form into a centrifuge tube. As ether floats on water, it is
found at the top layer, whereas sodium benzoate, which contains the converted
amount of benzoic acid, is found in the water bottom layer of the centrifuge container

Essay On Fall Out Boy
Save Rock and Roll
After a long tragic four year break up the boys are back and determined to save rock
and roll. If their comeback suggests delusion of grandeur, they re only picking up
where they left off.
Fall Out Boy (FOB) is an American rock band from Illinois that originated in 2001,
from 2001 to present time the band has released a total of nine albums, twenty one
singles. The band has sold a total of 7.5 million albums. Sadly in 2010 the band

Solo Punk . In FOB decided just like any other rock band that they could burn out or

Fall out Boy really tried to make the lyrics relatable and to make the audience feel
something. The word fire and the concept of burning is a recurring theme. In the
song The Phoenix, Stump belts out You re wearing our vintage misery. No, I think
it looked a little better on me and in the song Miss Missing You the chores The
person that you d take a bullet for is behind the trigger really shows the raw
emotion. This whole album is showing the battle with internal conflicts rather than
external ones. Struggling to grow up, being jealous of the young, feeling betrayed
in love, missing past happiness. The single, Just One Yesterday, which discusses
wanting an ex back, while also wanting them to pay for hurting you I m here to
give you all of my love, so I can watch your face as I take it all away . The band
then raps up the final song on the album with Save Rock and Roll, with guest star
Elton John. This song was for the fans one hundred percent, basically saying that they
go away again. The band needs the audience as much as the fans need the
Kilauea Volcanoe Essay examples
Kilauea Volcano
By: Jeremy Dodson
Located in the Pacific Ocean, Hawaii and the Hawaiian Islands are the cone shaped
tops of gigantic ocean volcanoes.
Located in the southeast region of the Island of Hawaii, Kilauea sits on the flank (or
the side) of the active Mauna Loa volcano, and is one of five shield volcanoes that
together form the Island of Hawaii.
Kilauea is one of the most active volcanoes on Earth, and it is the youngest. Kilauea
stands just under 4,200 feet tall above sea level at its highest point.
The staff of the U.S. Geological Survey at the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory
currently lists Kilauea s Volcano Alert Level as WATCH and its Aviation Color

This smog affects many areas of the Hawaiian Islands, including Oahu and Honolulu
whenever winds come out of the south or southeast.
The estimated age of the earliest above ground (subaerial) eruptions of Kilauea is
between 50,000 100,000 years.
The last eruption began on January 3, 1983 to the present. During this time, the lava
flows have unfortunately caused destruction of nearly 200 houses, resurfaced over
13km of highway with lava, destroyed the National Park visitor center, and a 700
year old Hawaiian Temple. It has also added new coastline to the island. There are no
signs that the current eruption is slowing or will end anytime soon. Kilauea has little
vegetation.
Kilauea has the volcano status of Historical. Kilauea has had 61 historical eruptions,
not counting the continuous lava lake activity in the crater. The oldest dated rocks
from Kilauea are 23,000 years old.
The Island of Hawaii sits on (almost in the middle of) the Pacific Plate. The Pacific
Plate is a giant jigsaw piece of the Earth s crust that is slowly moving in a
northwesterly direction. It moves about four inches a year. There is a basically
stationary hot spot deep within the Earth s mantle. Heat from this hot spot makes
molten lava and rock (magma) that rises through the Pacific Plate and erupts
continuously on the ocean floor. After thousands of eruptions and over many many
years, an island forms a rocky
Marriage And Marriage With Cleotilde
In the novel, marriage is more about economic status and opportunity rather than
love. Marriage is supposed to be about abundant mutual love between two people. In
this case, marriage is viewed more as an for opportunity to receive citizenship and a
way to improve your of social status. Relationships and marriageare a common theme
throughout the novel.
Obinze s marriage with Cleotilde is one another example in the book of how
marriage for men is viewed as a path to improving your chances of receiving
citizenship. Obinzes attempt to marry Cleotilde was a true fabrication and is not a
very good example of what love actually means. When they first met, Obinze s
sense of entitlement, and superiority made in very difficult for him to treat Cleo as
she deserved to be treated. A fake marriage of convenience not for love but for the
opportunity of citizenship is contrary to Obinze s morals. This causes Obinze to
have a moral crisis inside and question the path he has taken in life. Normally
marriage happens when two people decide that they would rather spend time together
than apart and would find it difficult to continue without the other. In a normal
relationship couples will from time to time face adversity and together work to
overcome whatever challenges they face, but the adversity faced by the couple in
this novel are bigger and more complex than what other couples would typically face.
Obinze is using a woman to gain citizenship into a country; this is not only
Toy And Game Market Will Be Introduced And Solutions
Deduced of its annual report for 2013, the company Hasbro is in a discerning
situation. Revenues and earnings fell for the last three years (see Exhibit 1) and
the company started to repurchase stock at the end of 2013[1]. Three important
challenges Hasbro has to face will be introduced and solutions suggested. The first
paragraph will focus on the problems of toy and game companies with its buyers.
After that Hasbro s increasing costs will be reviewed and the vast competition in
the toy and game market will be outlined. Lastly suggestions to overcome those
problems will be presented. Regarding the North American market, Hasbro
depends on three big buyers producing 61%[1] of its net revenue: Wal Mart, Toys R
Us and Target. Those retailers tend to use their control over their suppliers in order
to reduce purchase prices and increase margin. Hasbro already suffers from buyers
that order their inventory last minute. Especially in preparation of the holiday
season orders for immediate delivery and late payments from the buyers lead to
short term borrowings of Hasbro[1]. This dependency makes Hasbro hold very
high levels of inventory (see Exhibit 2), resulting in high carrying costs and very
high risks, since in the fast moving toy market unsold goods are for the most part
obsolete inventory[2]. This situation results in a inventory turnover ratio of only
5.032 for Hasbro (see Exhibit 3). Its biggest competitor Mattel had a inventory
turnover ratio of 5.786 in 2013 (see Exhibit

These games all looked amazing. I was especially impressed by the level of detail
in Killzone, where even unimportant characters looked and moved very
realistically. We also saw demos of new game engines (systems for the creation
and development of video games) for PlayStation 4 and I was blown away. One
demo simply showed the face of an old man in various lighting conditions and with
different facial expressions, impressively depicting the level of detail and emotion
that game characters can now convey. Cloud gaming and digital gaming also
seems to be a strong focus for the PS4. Sony is aiming to make many games from
previous and current console generations available digitally, living up to the
tagline everything everywhere . The PlayStation 4 event was just enough of a
tease to keep me salivating for more. No price information is available yet, but we
at least have an idea of Sony s approach to the next generation of gaming. It will be

Contemporary architecture style
Keywords: house plans, contemporary architecture style, design, buildings
The main trademark of contemporary architecture style consists of geometric shapes,
asymmetric features, and natural building materials. The focus is on function,
simplicity, flexible interiors, plenty of light on airy spaces. The style is mostly
minimalistic with clean lines. The house has a bold look and a very distinctive
architectural street appeal. The houses are built to be more flexible to several
different uses; they are also well ventilated and have access to enough natural light.
These buildings orientations form the main concern for contemporary architectural
style. Compared to old classic mid century designs, the modern ... Show more content

For instance, materials such as granite, concrete, timber, stainless steel and even
marbles are used in the construction process. Shelves and cabinets made of timber,
sinks made of stainless steel and hardware are used to adorn the kitchen making these
buildings to resemble industries. Open shelving and simple unadorned cabinet are
also common features of a contemporary kitchen. Work spaces that are efficiently
arranged and have minimal embellishment are constructed in the kitchen. The
lighting of the contemporary is made dramatic and appealing and lights are placed
where there is most need. This is what the contemporary style architects terms as a
contemporary building.
Contemporary architecture style requires the architects to design buildings that have
both fascinating interior and exterior structures. Contemporary building plans are
geometrical in shapes and are asymmetrical. These buildings have magnificent
landscaping during design stage. They also have over size windows as a transition
between their outdoor and indoor spaces. The transition is seamlessly introduced by
the architect through incorporation of a sliding glass doors between the streamlined

Nucor Case Analysis Essay
Nucor Corporation Case Analysis
Section 1: Recommendations
Recommendation 1: To expand more internationally by building plants in lower
property taxed areas with low tariffs to ship products out.
Recommendation 2: To put in place job descriptions for employees. By doing this it
will save Nucor litigation fees and troubles if something arises in the workplace
between the employee and Nucor about job duties, injuries, etc.
Recommendation 3: Other than expanding internationally, Nucor should make joint
ventures with suppliers to keep the cost down of the product. A lot of scrap that is
used is imported so it would be a good idea for Nucor to utilize that to reduce costs
of making their products.

Another recommendation that I have for Nucor is instead of buying existing plant
capacity, make new plants elsewhere or form a joint venture with a supplier to help
save money. (Exhibit 3) This would decrease cost of supplies so they would have
the extra money to build elsewhere or build a ne plant. By using the SWOT
analysis (Exhibit 1) it let me break up Nucor into different parts to see what their
strengths and weaknesses are. Nucor is solid with technology and treating the
employees correct but the weaknesses that affect Nucor are more market based
with some internal problems. Nucor has products for many different industries
including automotive and housing. This can cause issues for Nucor if those
industries take a fall, which they have over the last 5 years. It s a good idea to be
in these industries but Nucor has to realize what can happen to sales and revenues
when one or both of those industries take a fall. Nucor has been expanding more in
the United States, recently just building a plant in Louisiana (Exhibit 5). This plant
will be a 750 million dollar purchase and will be a mill for pig iron. Nucor is
expanding all over the United States but needs more presence internationally plan

they have a solid stock in the NASDAQ market and continue to be a healthy steel

The Drunk Bus Should Be Kept Around Essay
The Drunk Bus Should Be Kept Around
I remember hearing stories of such a thing called the drunk bus before I came to
college, but I was not exactly sure what it was. I just figured the bus took a bunch
of drunken college students to the bars when they wanted to go. Now that I am a
first year student at State U, I understand I was not that far from the truth. Some say
the bus should be taken away, but the fact of the matter is the bus is a necessity at
college since there will always be drinking. This way, when all of the students are
done drinking at school and want to go to the bars, they are not putting themselves or
any other members of the community in danger by drinking and driving.
Safety is always a factor
Of course, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I am also positive if there were to be a terrible wreck caused by an intoxicated
student, the entire community would all agree that the drunk bus is a wise choice to
keep in commission. If the drunk bus were to go out of commission, then I am certain
the amount of accidents would rise dramatically.
Sober students ride the bus as well
Not every person who gets on the bus is intoxicated. I have talked with many of my
friends and they tell me that they hardly ever are intoxicated when they go on the
bus, but the just want to have a good time and dance at the club. If students ask the
bus driver, he will also make stops to local grocery stores such as Wal Mart and Hy
Vee. I know many students that go on the bus just hang out at the bar to have fun,
without drinking. Therefore, this shows how the bus has more than one use of just
transporting drunken students.
Students will always drink
I read a very interesting book called Behind the Arch: The Truth about Drinking at
Buena Vista University. This book explained how the Storm Lake, IA community
feels that having the drunk Bus around only encourages students to drink. I think the
community needs to realize if there were no bus to transport intoxicated students to
and from the bars, the students only option would be to drive intoxicated, which
should never happen. Eighty five percent (or 334) of the 395 students who completed
the online survey indicated they drank (14). It is common knowledge there

Continuity Plan For An Organization

BUSSINESS CONTINUITY PLAN
The business continuity planning process includes the recuperation, resumption, and

Progressive Rock 1970s
Progressive rock of the 1970s and the paradox of popular serious art
Progressive rock of the 1970s represents a unique moment in the modern music and
culture history; moment which introduced an atypical association of the highly
sophisticated and complicated means of expression, derived mainly from the area
of so called serious art, with the wide popularity, bordering almost with fashion.
American Marxist philosopher and social theorist Bill Martin aptly named this
remarkable phenomenon of progressive rock, which was based on the British rock
experimentalism of the second half of the sixties and which became a global artistic
trend in the following decade, using the paradoxical term popular avant garde .
The proposed conference contribution will present the issue of progressive rock
genre in a synthetic manner and with regard to the mentioned key feature of the
juxtaposition of the serious and popular or high and low art. Apart from the aesthetic
and formal aspects, the socio cultural and socio functional issues will be discussed as

concept of the so called elite art, or the dichotomy elite art vs. mass art , including
its ideological and aesthetically evaluative implications as well. On the example of

art as a relative category, or specifically, as a concrete product of the particular social
and cultural circumstances. In connection with analytical reflection of progressive
rock the paper will necessarily also touch on the issue of modernist and postmodernist
trends in music and the arts in
How Youths Are Deemed As The Perpetrators Of Today s...
When the words youth and young people come up there are different connotations
that come along with it, some people may feel very positive towards the youth of
today. However, some people feel the complete opposite and have negative views
altogether. In some cases, people believe they have Ephebiphobia which is a fear of
youngpeople, with 1.5 million Britons considering to move houses last year and
about 1.7 million people not going out after dark to avoid youngsters (Lewis, 2016).
Researchers are fearing that the public are alienating the youthand A rise in social
Paedophobia will simply make matters worse Nick Pierce the IPPR (Institute for
Public Policy Research). In this essay I will be discussing how youths are deemed
as the perpetrators in today s society and how this theory came about. Furthermore,
discussing how young people are also vulnerable to being victims as well, but are
also under protected. Adding to that I will discuss the UK s policing structure such
as stop and search and taking young people into custody and whether it has been
successful for the past years in England and Wales or not.
So what defines youth or a young person? criminologists for years have attempted to
find a definition for youth. However, criminologist John Muncie has summed it up
well: An ill defined and variable period of the life span between infancy and
adulthood. (Davies, Francis, and Greer, 2007). Although this is a definition people

A Soldier s Home Essay
Wars have various implications of monumental significance to the entire society and
humanity as a whole. This is mainly because of the wanton destruction that occurs in
the course of reaching amicable solutions to disputes. The First World War was
fought on an unprecedented scale in the history of mankind. In Soldier s Home,
Ernest Hemmingway highlights the predicament of a youthful soldier upon his return
from military duty in Europe. Harold Krebs finds it difficult to fit into the society
once he returns from active duty in the World War I
. This paper compares the life of
the soldier before and after returning to his hometown after war. It becomes
apparent that the negative implications of war endure long after the wars come to
an end. Various factors make Harold Krebs s story especially fascinating. Firstly,
his case is unique among his hometown counterparts for one reason. Krebs
happened to be a member of the second division, which did not get home until one
year after the War s completion. He returned to Oklahoma in 1919, a whole year
after his colleagues from other divisions returned home (Hemmingway). By this
time, men who were drafted from the town had already been elaborately welcomed
back into the society. Nobody seemed to understand why Krebs had to come back so
late after the War s completion. One cannot help but sympathize with the returning
soldier following the cold reception he gets back home. Everybody else has since
settled in and adjusted to life in

Though the MP3 file, short for MPEG 1 Audio Layer 3, was originally developed
in 1987, Napster represented the first mainstream and user friendly program to
transfer and download these files (Bender 157). Napster, a peer to peer (P2P)
program, allowed online users to connect with one another and swap copyrighted
music, videos, and other files contained on their computers, thus providing a way to
get free music online (Bender 157). Peer to peer network is defined as two or more
computers connected by software, which enables the connected computers to transmit
files or data to other connected computers.(Ingram 134) Since music artists and

Mattie through his conflicted nature. First, throughout the book Ethan is conflicted
with having to choose to stay with his wife, Zeena whom he does not loveor leave her
for his true love, Mattie. This conflict exposes his desires to have Mattie, because he
is even considering leaving Zeena to be with her. During the book when Ethan Frome
is conflicted, this shows how much Mattie means to him, especially when he first
contemplates leaving Zeena. Next, Ethan Frome exposes his conflicted nature when
he must decide if he will be with Mattie forever by committing suicide with her or
Courage in to Kill a Mockingbird
I wanted to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a
man with a gun. What kinds of heroism and courage are shown in To Kill a
Mockingbird? Discuss.
Courage is defined as the quality of mind or spirit enabling one to meet danger or
opposition with fearlessness. According to Atticus Finch, one of the main characters
in To Kill a Mockingbird, Courage is when you know you re licked before you
begin, but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what. (pg.121).
Harper Lee clearly portrays the theme of courage in her novel, To Kill a
Mockingbird. One likes to think of a hero, as strong, brave, and meeting all
challenges head on. All the characters in this book have a different view as to what

When Atticus took the case, he went up against Maycomb, a generally prejudiced
town, in order to defend Tom. He understood that taking the case would make him
an object of ridicule and that no one would forgive him for believing a black man s
word over a white man s. Even his own sister expresses disapproval at his decision,
practically telling him he was bringing disgrace to the family. Nevertheless, no matter
how much his reputation suffered, he did not change his mind. Standing up for his
morals and ethics was more important than what people thought about him. From the
very start Atticus knows he will not win the case however he does his job and
finishes what he set out to do.
Atticus s strong sense of morality and justice motivates him to defend Tom
Robinson with determination, giving it all he has. He shows this when he says,
Simply because we were licked a hundred years before we started is no reason for
us not to try and win. (pg.82). He says this to Scout after she comes home from
school angry at Cecil Jacobs for making fun of Atticus in the schoolyard. Atticus tells
her to fight with her head instead of her fists. He wants the people of Maycomb to
hear the truth about Tom, That boy may go to the chair, but he s not going till the
truth s told. (pg.159). Atticus is putting everything a man holds dear, dignity, respect,
honor and status, on the line to protect Tom. He later shows more bravery when he

Why California Is A Trendsetter. From The End Of The
Second
Why California is a Trendsetter From the end of the Second World War to the present
day, California strengthened its area as a political, social, and cultural trendsetter.
California is also extraordinary than most other states because of its diversity in the
people and climate. California s diverse topographical features such as, the rainfall,
temperature and sunlight vary throughout the state. The seasons also vary in
Californiachanging the areas climate. Since the beginning of European settlement in
California, climate has become increasingly important in shaping the state s economy

Travel routes, refueling stops, supermarkets, and overnight accommodations for
drivers and their passengers were all vestiges of southern California s love affair with
cars (Osborne, 250). As well as car industry that arose in California, there was also a
vital airline industry developed in and near Los Angeles and San Diego (Osborne,
250). Because of these industries taking off in California many other states wanted
what that state had. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, the women and minority
groups of California became extremely confident in their own rights (Osborne, 313).
Many white, middle class women focused on their freedom rather than their religious
views. Because of this, this also started to happen in other states. They wanted people
to listen so these groups made there way to Pat Brown s office (Osborne, 313). These
women would not back down and Browns journey to appreciate ethnic diversity and
gender justice was a long one. Brown mocked the homosexuals in San Fransisco and
he gave no thought about women with respect to equal rights (Osborne, 313). As
times changed, so did his views on rights for minorities and women. The
counterculture movement started in the 1960s causing California to start another
trend. The countercultural movement rejected the Establishment s business world
values, and urged a mix of non materialism, Asian religions, free love, and
experimentation
Methods Of Marker Assisted Selection
Marker assisted selection (MAS) is a method using fluoresces to determine whether
there are mutations in a particular gene. One form of MAS is Fluorescence in situ
Hybridization (FISH), in which the target gene (ADA gene) is denatured (splits into
single strands) in a solution containing a direct DNA probe which has an identical
base pair sequence to the ADA gene being analyzed (these DNAprobes are also
denatured into single strands). A direct DNA probe is made up of modified dNTPs
which have been altered to contain a fluorophore (a fluorescent chemical compound
that has the ability to re emit light upon mild excitation), these will bind to the ADA
gene strands if there are no mutations present (i.e. it is a fully functioning gene). If...

Gene Therapy
Gene therapy is a way in which an individual with a preexisting genetic disorder (in
this case ADA deficiency) can be treated. This involves the insertion of a functioning
ADA gene into an individual s cells through the use of viral vectors, to replace the
mutated ADA gene that is non functioning or functioning incorrectly. In order for this
process to be viable multiple techniques are used, including: restriction enzymes,
ligation, PCR and transfection. Through these processes an individual is able to
As there are 70 known mutations on the ADA gene currently that can cause ADA

The Effects Of Media On Women s Body Image
The effects of media on women s body image has been a reality long before the
conception of social media. When someone is idealized, it is only natural that one
will gravitate towards the characteristics most define the idealized person. It is
innate in humankind to continuously strive for self betterment as it is a means for
survival. If we perceive someone else doing better than ourselves we try to find out
what they are doing that we aren t. The perception of self is often measurement of
how one feels about their life and the direction it is going. With the emergence of
social media, the number of idealizations has heightened due to the degree of content
that we are exposed to. The internet itself is an endless black hole with an infinite
amount of information. Roughly a third of the world having some form of social
media. In the United States alone, the population on social media is 78%.
The percentage of women who are dissatisfied with their bodies have increased.
Studies have directly linked media and its correlation to women s body image.
Women have developed insecurities because their standards of beauty have been
shaped by their exposure to media. According to the journal titled, Women s exposure
to thin and beautiful media images: body image effects of media ideal internalization

overweight characters are (Yamamiya et al., 2005). Leading to the normalization of

My First Time Of Sledding
The time my family and I went sledding. It was not my first time going sledding

around Christmas time and my uncle brought an old car hood that he had in his
garage to my house and we tied it the the back of my four wheeler to pull across the
snowbut my mom thought it was dangerous so she was anxious about letting my
sister brother and I ride on the back of a nasty old car hood. So as any person in my
position would do I called my eldest brother to come and try it out first so my mom
could see for herself that it was perfectly harmless. I told my brother the
predicament that i was in and he agreed to help plus he really wanted to ride on the

my brother gave a timid thumbs up and off they went my uncle threw my brother all

terms in office passing bills, creating new policies, and bettering the lives of
Americans. While not everybody loves him, it would be a hard to argue that he

Research Paper On Strengths And Weaknesses
What s Got You Weak in the Knees? A Look at the Dangers of Leg Weakness
You may not realize how little conscious thought walking or moving takes until you
are in a position where your lower body mobility is affected by a medical condition.
Once this happens it can make the smallest tasks seem much more difficult. Since
movement is at the core of everything you do throughout your day, difficulty in
completing simple tasks can take a toll on both your physical and mental well being.
Lack of maneuverability can have serious consequences leading to feelings of
isolation, depression, and/or anxiety. Recognizing symptoms, addressing them
properly, and implementing the use of aids in your day to day life could help to
minimize the effects and risks associated with lowered mobility.
What is Leg Weakness?
Leg weakness is an absence of muscular or physical strength in your legs
accompanied by the feeling that additional effort is required to produce movement. If
this deficiency is the result of pain, then when you make those lower body muscles
work it will hurt.
Often times, when you are displaying a physical weakness which makes moving
more difficult to achieve it can result in fatigue. Fatigue is a feeling of exhaustion or
tiredness due to a lack of strength and/or energy.
Weakness and fatigue are both symptoms, and not considered diseases. They can be
caused by many other health issues, and can only be properly examined when paired
with other symptoms that are present. If you

Human trafficking has been an ongoing business that can be tracked many years
back. Today it is considered to be modern day slavery and the second largest
international organized crime industry. It brings in billions of dollars annually. Often
human trafficking can be defined as the forced or coerced movement of people across
national borders as well as within countries. Due to the increase of cultural and
economic globalization, human trafficking sky rockets every year. Common areas
victims are trafficked to parts of Asia, Europe and North America. Within the human
trafficking sector, there are three major subsets. Sexual trafficking, Labor trafficking,
and Organ trafficking.

Due to the some of the factors stated above, I believe that human trafficking will only
get worse. In my essay, I plan to discuss how these three countries are contributing to
it, what theory I used to conduct my research and how it relates to the topic, the level
of analysis/structure, sectorial processes, and my future prediction of human
trafficking. Human Trafficking and Human Smugglingare often confused. There is a
distinct difference between the two. According to the United States Department of
States human smuggling is the facilitation, transportation, attempted transportation or
illegal entry of a person(s) across an international border, in violation of one or more
countries laws, either clandestinely or through deception, such as the use of
fraudulent documents. Human Trafficking is the trafficking of persons for the
purpose of committing commercial sex acts, or to subject them to involuntary
servitude, peonage, debt bondage, or slavery.
Structure/Level of Analysis/ Theory Although human trafficking is a global issue,
the level of analysis I chose was regional. In this paper I am focusing on the Mekong
region, where Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand are located. This region has a high
amount of women and children that are trafficked into the sex industry. The theory I
chose for this topic is Kenneth Waltz. Waltz is a neorealist and examines the
international system from a top down view. He also looks at the behavior of states,
Can We Say NO To Recycling Essay
Can We Say NO To Recycling
Lately the earth s capacity to tolerate exploitation and absorb solid wastes disposal
has diminished, due to excess trashing. People dispose lots of stuff, and simply do
not care. Therefore scientists found out a way to reuse things and that process was
called recycling . This new approach seemed quite successful at the beginning, until
its true identity appeared. Recycling first started as man s best friend, people were
intrigued by this new phenomena. What could be better than using things that were
already used. Recycling has been very useful especially that man is constantly
consuming, burning up, wearing out, replacing and disposing at an alarming
rate.(Durning 1992). However, unfortunately recycling ... Show more content on

According to Plenum, incineration is the process of disposing of the Combustible
portion of the community wastes (81). This burning pollutes the air in the area
around it. It is not the way to solve the problem of recycling because it solving one
problem by creating another which is air pollution. In this process a number of
pollutants are emitted which poisons the air. Carbon dioxide and lead are by
products of burning that most health organisations consider highly toxicating. These
by products affect children mentally and physically. In addition, carbon dioxide is
considered one of the main reasons of global warming because the molecule itself
captures heat an stores it in it thus creating the green house effect. Besides plastics
are rather toxicating when burnt according to Plenum, Acrylic type plastics emit
HCN gas, Bromine components that are added to plastics results in the emission of
HBr , which are all dangerous pollutants (157). Obviously burning cannot be
considered an alternative and as stated in Consumer Reports, Recycling does help to
keep garbage out of landfills and incinerators, both of which pose environmental
problems. (Feb 1994). Although burning lessens the physical amount of the waste
materials, it is considered one of the easiest way to pollute the air.
Though these are great advantages to us and the environment, but recycling
Pseudo Event Research Paper

This type of communication and fandom is so powerful, in fact, according to a

because it allows us to create an image of ourselves based on what we want others

modest middle bracket tax cut and big parental benefits boost. But can those
measures resonate all the way to the 2019 election?
In April, we introduced a bill to legalize, strictly regulate, and restrict access to
cannabis no later than July 2018.
The legal and social importance of Trudeau s marijuana policy is huge. But what
about the politics of this landmark legislation? Trudeau s approach is to highlight
the get tough parts, especially making it a separate crime to sell weed to kids. How
will Canadian voters compute the Liberal stance? Is it possible to somehow cast
legalizing marijuana as a pillar of a stern, law and order campaign message?
On June 6, Minister Freeland outlined a new foreign policy for Canada, and
underscored our commitment to a rules based international order, progressive trade
policies, gender equality, and fighting climate change.
It s perhaps a stretch to characterize Freeland s speech to the House, although
important, as a whole new foreign policy. In effect, she framed familiar Canadian
policies in a dramatic new light: the sudden decline in U.S. leadership on the world
stage under President Donald Trump not that she mentioned his name. Still, Freeland
s rhetoric counterbalanced the Trudeau government s assiduous courting of Trump s
inner circle.

Jean Paul Lawrence Kohlberg s Theory Of Moral

Introduction The conscience of children is formed by the influences that surround
them; their notions of good and evil are a result of the moral atmosphere they
breathe Jean Paul Lawrence Kohlberg (the pioneer of the second major perspective
on moral development) proposed that moral reasoning is developed when people
pass through three levels which comprise of two stages each as they grow older. He
investigated the nature of moral thought by interacting with children, presenting
them with a story in which moral dilemmas were faced by the characters in the
story. This is what led to the birth of his theory of moral development. This essay
therefore seeks to practically apply Kohlberg s thesis to the real world. In so doing,
it will review and evaluate the theory... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kohlberg on Moral Development A professor at Harvard University developed a
theory of moral development which incorporated the thinking of a Swiss psychologist
named Jean Piaget and an American philosopher named John Dewey (Barger, 2000).
The professor went by the name Lawrence Kohlberg. Kohlberg mainly used Piaget
s theory of moral development as the foundation to develop these ideas further
(Piaget, 1932). He incorporated the method of telling a story that presents a
dilemma that Piaget came up with, which would give people options for them to
choose what they would feel is right choice (Kohlberg, 1958). Kohlberg (1984)
presented the dilemmas as moral dilemmas, and the way an individual reasoned the
dilemma would determine the stage (with regards to moral development) in which
he would classify them. Kohlberg used the reasons that the individuals gave as a
way to see how moral reasoning changed as people grow

The materials that usually used for construction such as reinforced concrete, timber,

The erection of the steel is carried out by skilled labour. In situ cast concrete
structures all work, except possibly the cutting and bending of reinforcement is
carried out on the site, the erection of formwork and placing of reinforcement by
skilled and unskilled labour and usually the making and placing concrete by semi
skilled or unskilled labour. Much site space is needed for the storage and mixing of
materials, although in some districts this problems can be overcome when the site
is restricted in area by the use of truck mixed concrete . The type of formwork used,
the nature and size of building will have an effect upon the actual method of work
and the speed at which it progresses.
3.1.2 Cost and speed of erection Reinforced concrete is likely cheaper in cost but in
situ, generally longer in construction than steel although construction can be rapid
with a disciplined design approach, careful and detailed and planning of the site
work, good site organization and properly trained operatives and good supervision.
To some extent cost and speed of erection are dependent upon the availability of
materials and labour. On expensive sites speed of erection to permit early occupation
of the completed building is a most important consideration and is sometimes the
decisive factor in the choice of the framing material. In

The second model of culture usually assumes that there are several more fundamental
conflicts in the social order levels but still views the cultural system to be still
integrated relatively. In this second model, the conflicting social groupings and
functions can usually develop antagonistic subcultures and not only complementary
aesthetic referred to as specifications and this model is called cultural refraction
(Wagner, 2011).
The third model is the columnisation that describes the fundamental antagonism that
exist between the social and cultural system since its interest groupings occur in the
hermetically sealed columns of culture. Volkswagen Group Company is one of the
international automobile competitors of Toyota Motors Company and the model of
culture that is most appropriate for it is the specification model since it operates
globally and assumes that there are harmony and consistency in the marketing society
(Books, 2011).

Lord Of The Flies Conch Shell Symbolism
The shell was interesting and pretty and a worthy plaything; but the vivid phantoms
of his day dream still interposed between him and Piggy, who in this context was an
irrelevance (Golding 16). The conch shell was a very important symbol in the novel
Lord of the Flies because it shows how society influences the boys based on the quote
stated. The conchremains the same throughout most of the story for the most part. It
could symbolize many different things which are power, unity, and respect. All of
three of these words are similar in a way which proves that the conch shells
symbolizes each one of the words.
One of the things that the conch shell could symbolize is power on the island
because Ralph is the chief and he said that you could only speak if you were
holding the conch. He held the conch against his chest with one hand and stabbed
the air with his index finger (Golding 127). Piggy is the one who finds the conch
shell and Ralph uses it to call for the other boys on the island. This shows that the
boys are influenced by society because they know that they need a leader based on
their knowledge of where and how they were used to living at home. They also
know that a leader is important if you want things to get done on time and the proper
way. The conch shell helps us, the reader to know that Ralph is in authority. The
boys are not in society anymore, so they are trying to figure things out for
themselves, but they are also trying to do things the way they would
Key Elements Of A Thesis Statement
The thesis statement is one of the most important elements of any successful essay. It
is one statement that summarizes the main point of the essay and states why the
essay is important and worth reading. The elements of a thesis are generally stated in
a single sentence, they express an opinion, not a topic, they indicate the kind of
support to follow, they often summarize supporting material. Effective thesis
statements are precisely worded.
I think the location of the thesis does matter because it summarizes the main point of
the essay. Placing the thesis at the beginning of the essay states the essay with a

Totalitarianism In Ww2
The chaos that followed in the wake of World War I allowed and encouraged the
establishment of totalitarian regimes. Totalitarianism is a system of government that
is centralized and dictatorial and required complete subservience to the state. It took
place in Germany, Italy, and Japan. This type of militarism went on in many different
countries and for many different reasons. Totalitarianism in Germanylasted from 1933
1945. 1933 is when Hitler was elected to powers. The nazi partywas a political group
that ruled under Adolf Hitlers leadership the nazis started World War II. Reasons
why Hitler was able to rule was because he promised that he would put food on their

Nationalism Is A Progressive Force
Introduction
There are many people supposing that nationalism is a progressive force in
international relations. However, there is also much debate in academic materials
which are identifying nationalism as a hindrance in achieving the possibilities
presented by globalization, as well as a risk factor in war. Therefore, there is a
division in terms of if nationalism is progressive or regressive, as far as international
relations are concerned. As a response to these conflicting views, this paper will
explore the relevant literature to support the thesis that nationalism is a progressive
force in international relations.
Nationalism is a Progressive Force
O Leary (1997) argues that nationalism is the most significant form of political
legitimacy in the modern world, as well as an astute component of modernity.
According to O Leary, nationalism is a principle that holds a nation to be
institutionally expressed freely and collectively under the rule of its own co nationals.
However, not all share the views of O Leary, with sections associating nationalism
with regression as opposed to progression with regards to international relations. For
instance, Anastasiou (2007) explains that Westerners and educated elites consider
nationalism, both as a regressive force and as exclusivist in its nature, which demands
reshaping of the future. Dione (2012) expresses arguably similar concerns by asking
whether the new nationalism which reduced the dominance of the West and facilitated
Aging Population In Canada
In Canada, most people with conditions usually choose to have only one child and
lead to a drop in the natural population growth rate. While older workers are retired,
the newly added workforce slows down the entire workforce to an alarming level.
The low birth rate and the aging of the population are a worrying concern for Canada.
Carrollton University economics professor Frances Woolley warns that

aging populations will put big financial burdens on the government as older people
will need more health care and translation services. More home care. As the number
of elderly people increases, the health care system is short of medical doctors, nurse.

Bertha Mason In Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre
The life of Bertha Mason Rochester consisted of cruelty, inhumane captivity, and
suffering. Her husband, Edward Rochester, thought her to be mentally unstable,
and decided to lock her away in his castle. In Jane Eyre, Bertha Mason Rochester
was locked away by her husband, because he thought of her to be insane and
violent. He found mental asylums to be far too cruel and punishing , therefore he
kept his wife locked away upon secrecy, and told everyone that she was dead.
Whether he did this for love, this involuntarily imprisoned Bertha for the rest of her
life. Although in this time era they were unsafe, I think that Edward Rochester should
have put his wife in a mental asylum. I think this, because it would have been the
right thing to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The majority of the book portrayed her to be of the resemblance to a beast.Upon
the aftermath of the the hidden room, Jane overheard a ruckus within the room
nearest to hers. That noise was Bertha frolicking amongst herself. She lurked
within the darkness, and could not see anything, yet certain sounds could be heard.
Bertha, once again, was described as the devil, magnituding her element of evil.
No words had been used to make us see anything good about Bertha, because those
reading this book are supposed to hate her. When Richard Mason was talking to Mr
Rochester, Bertha was presented as a wild animal. She worried me like a tigress
This quote describes the attack of Richard Mason to be the attack of a wild animal
on its prey. Bertha s attack method seemed to what a bolistic animal would have
approached. Bertha s voice often was not described to be human; it was said that
her voice was warped to sound like a sqealing animal. However, the first and only
time she spoke is during the attack on her brother She said she d drain my blood
This quote drives the reader to the assumption that she is a vampire., since draining
her brother s blood seems like the task a vampire would surely fulfill. This
representation of Bertha would show the reader hints of her true
English Tort Law And The Public Sector
English Tort Law and the Importance of Duty of Care in the Public Sector (Based on
the Kent v Griffith Case from the year 2000)
Tort Law is concerned with accidental injuries and deals with the distribution of
losses occurred during those injuries. Every country has its own statutory law ,
thus according to these laws acts in its own way in different situations. Public
health and ambulance services are of great importance when it comes to preventing
injuries and damages. In the UK, before the 2000s, ambulances were not obliged
(by common law) to provide emergency service, but were rather considered an
ordinary health care provider. Therefore, in a lot of cases it would be difficult to put
the liability on the defendant, which automatically leads to a higher number of
injuries and damages. In the case Kent v Griffith an important outcome and rule is
created, which creates the hope of decreasing damages significantly in the future. I
will argue that the duty of care in the health care system (especially ambulances)
should be treated with greater attention, as it can lessen enormous damages caused by
delayed service and unreasoned explanations. Furthermore, I will try and prove that,
due to negligence, the damages created by delayed services, thus lack of duty of care
in the public sector, are far exceeding precaution costs; Moreover, they harm the
economy and social well being as well.
Duty of care can be viewed as a control device used for determining when the
defendant
Creative Class Initiatives
Economic development for small cities can be a problem compared with big cities.
The metropolitan areas are more likely to attract and retain the manufacturing and
technology companies. However, development agencies are looking for different
policies incentives to make the small cities more competitive with larger cities. The
idea of investing in cultural development is a viable option to improve the economic
developmentof communities spread in rural areas. The culture agencies intend a
planning effort to hold a series of events to stimulate the public to become involved
with art and cultural leadership. Thus, to positively influence the economic growth of
small communities. Moreover, with the grant of the event and different incentives,

The creative class initiatives are the key force for the economic growth in the post
industrial phase when service sectors outweigh the manufacturing sector. Consistent
with the creative class, promoting art and culture based on the art tour is a suitable
idea to help the southwest Iowa communities to grow. In addition, it also promotes
the region encouraging people to visit and moved to the following cities. According
to Zachary Mannheimer, the director of the Des Moines Social Club, if the city wants
to stimulate the economic growth, it should invest in the arts rather than get started
in the jobs, this investment will make small communities achieve optimum results
quickly. Furthermore, the agencies use events as a tool of the attraction of people and
companies showing that the region is a viable place to live. The trend observed is
that events make an interconnection of the individuals with the community and it is a
very good idea to connect communities through art. Therefore, three recommendation
are the key to the success of the cities in the southwest of Iowa. First, it is mandatory
to stimulate partnership between communities among arts groups, communities, and
organization. Consequently, the events can turn into a potential tool to offer a
cultural education for the community and create a program of school based art
education for the residents. Second, the civic engagement of the community is an
important strategy to achieve the results. When the community works together, it
makes the difference for the future, based on the developing knowledge, skills, and
values to promote the quality of life. Finally, developing and build an environment
audience is a key to reach and involve more citizens based on the cultural
development. The fact of involving more people in the plan it is a way to leverage
the community,
The Bald Eagle ( Haliaeetus Leucocephalus Alascanus )
I am doing my study on the northern Bald Eagle (haliaeetus leucocephalus
alascanus). I chose the American bald eagle because it is one of the fastest and
strongest of the eagles. It has been are national symbol since congress adopted it in
1784, to symbolize are courage and power. We are both located in Anchorage
Alaska. They can be found anywhere from flying over the city to the remote
regions of rural Alaska. This animal is only located in the northlands region.
During its life it can be located in the heat of Mexico. To as far north as Canada and
the top of Alaska. Along this journey I would like to explain the life of the bald eagle,
being the air s top predator.
Not all bald eagles migrate every year to breed. It varies greatly by the region they
are in. The ones that live in the southern United States may remain there year
round. Due to having more available food during the winter months. Because the
lakes and streams freeze over limiting their food supply up north. The ones that do
migrate north during the spring will venture as far as Alaska and Canada to mate.
Once they reach sexual maturity at around four of five years of age. The eagle s
energy becomes concentrated on finding a mate and raising their offspring. What
makes the relationship between bald eagles interesting is they are monogamous.
This is where a pair will mate and live together there whole life. It is not unusual for
eagles to re use and visit there designated mating grounds. Their nest can
Guy Montag Essay
Throughout the novel Fahrenheit 451, Guy Montag goes from a relatively typical
fireman to a man on the run. In the story, Guy meets his seventeen year old
neighbor Clarisse McClellan, she questions Montag about his life now and the life
he has always lived. Near the start of the book Clarisse asks Montag, Are you
happy? Clarisse s question influenced Montag in many ways, causing him to
wonder about his life. After speaking with Clarisse, Montag starts thinking about
his wife, Mildred, and whether they really love each other or not. He leaves her to

analyzing more after starting reading books. Although Montag s love life changes
and his view of society are changed too, this is not the only change Montag must
admit. In the start of the book Montag is delighted in the work of burning illegal
books and the homes of where they are found. However, as the book progresses,
Montag becomes increasingly disgruntled, as he realizes that he has an empty,
unfulfilling life. A point that shows that Montag in the start of the book is happy
about his job is when he hangs up his helmet and shines it; hangs up his jacket
neatly; showers luxuriously, and then, whistling walks across the upper floor. The
turning point of his liking about his work is when Captain Beatty arrives to speak
with Montag, somehow knowing that he feels ill and would be taking the evening
off. Before he leaves, Beatty makes mention of the fact that firemen are occasionally
overcome by curiosity about the books that they burn and may steal one to satiate
that curiosity. Even though when this happens, they are given a 24 hour respite to
come to their senses and burn the book. If they do not follow this rule, then their

Demographics And Its Impact On Health And Health
In my research, I discovered that population trends will dramatically impact
healthcare. Simply put the more people who exists the more healthcare that is
required. Population is not the only factor and other sub factors of population such
as age, race, and ethnicity or demographics and they also have an impact on
Healthcare. For example, the population of people in the U.S. over the age of 65 in
1950 was only 8.1% of the total population. The trend of that number is expected to
rise to 20.2% by 2050. Geographic trends can assist healthcare professionals where to
focus their educational efforts in terms of healthcare availability. Psychographics
examines the consumer or the factors that motive them such as values, attitudes,
beliefs, motions, interests, and personalities.
Demographic trends can be used to target specific gender and ethnic groups from a
healthcare perspective. An example of this targeted healthcare is research showed
that males, both non Hispanic and Hispanic, in the Michigan area where
disproportionately affected by cancer (Kodjebacheva, Blankenship, Hayman Jr,
Parker, 2016). The application of this is by knowing this data and data similar to it,
we will be able to have focused HealthCare to the demographics that statistically need
it more than others.
The study of Geographic trends will allow us to better understand physically where
healthcare resources are lacking compared to other typically developed areas. An
example of application here is a study
Summary on the China Study Essay
The China Study
Raised on his family s dairy farm, Dr. Colin Campbell started his day with the
usual breakfast of eggs, sausage, bacon, fried potatoes, ham and a full glass of
whole milk; this was part of their normal diet. His dad had his first heart attack at
the age of sixty one and he later died from a second massive coronary at age
seventy. Dr. Campbell a vegetarian now with a family of his own has dedicated his
life in researching the correlation between our health and what we eat;
understanding now that the disease that killed his father can be prevented and even

Dr. Campbell sought out grants for research after reading the Indian research paper in
the Philippines claiming that protein was the leading factor in promoting liver cancer
in rodents. There are three stages of cancer; initiation, promotion and progression. Dr.
Campbell used the following analogy to further explain the three stages:
Initiation is when the you plant the seeds in the soil. Promotion is when the grass
starts to grow and progression is when the grass is completely out of control and
invading the sidewalk, driveway and shrubbery. The first stage happens within
minutes, the carcinogen is consumed, absorbed into the blood, transported into
cells, changed into its active product and bonded to DNA. Carcinogens are the
chemicals that initiate cancer prone cells, they successfully implant the seeds in the
soil. These carcinogens generically mutate normal cells into cancer prone cells,
permanently altering the genes of the cell and therefore damaging its DNA. The
promotion growth stage occurs over years, this is when the cluster has multiplied
and grown into larger masses and now a clinically visible tumor is formed and has
become a detectable cancer. Just like seeds in soil, these cancer cells will not grow
and multiply unless the right conditions are met. Promotion is reversible! This is
where certain

  • 2. Why Am I Here Why are You Here? I have fallen short in many ways towards the goals that I have made in my life. No matter how high the standard is set, and whether failure awaits me, perseverance and my faith will carry me on. Some would label me as a dreamer. Someone could say I have reality to face, but without dreams we have no hope, and without hope we have nothing inside of us to fuel our deep passion to succeed and win the race that we have been running. Everyone has his own opinion about college and how important it is, but only a few will take the initiative to follow through and back what they stand for. Though a college degree in engineering seems unreachable, I will strive to make this the first foundational block for my future ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Through four and a half months of training in technical school, they were able to mold me into what they expect in the ordinance branch. So far, this has been an amazing experience, and I am proud of being a small part of the big picture. With that said, I am here for one reason and one reason only. I no longer have my parents direction, or have someone showing me what is right, and I would be wrong in making my time here meaningless. Many of my peers would say this is one big party and that they are here for the girls and the cheap beer, but if I wanted to party, I wouldn t have chosen to pay so much for one. I think it would be ridiculous of me to waste a perfectly good opportunity to become the man that I was made to be. My past was unbalanced and reckless, and it would be easy for me to fall back into my old ways, so it would be wise of me to stay focused while I am here. My life was very structured and it drove me to want something different, but when I had to face my consequences, I soon came to want exactly what I was running from. Ironically enough, I am beginning to see what they were trying to do as parents. It would be nice to finally make them proud to be an influence in my life, and I will do my best to make that happen. Perception is a lot, and reputation is more, so I plan to do my best to represent the uniform I wear everywhere I go. When I finally accomplish these goals, maybe I will be ready for the next mission, but for now it is

We are seeing a dramatic shift in the attitude toward renewable energy throughout the world. Many countries turning towards cleaner methods and more safe, practical, and efficient. Countries such as Norway and iceland are almost one hundred percent run on renewable resources with clean energy and air. Focusing specifically on the United States, we have an issue with change and die to the fact of political and economic pressures we have a true wicked problem in our midst. As a country the united states which has a population of only 332,000,000 people so compared with that of india whose population is 1.34 billion we should be surpassing them in clean energy because numerically that would make sense. Looking at the statistical charts that is not the case, the united states ranks second in highest CO2 emissions while india a country whose population who is almost five times larger than ours ranks behind us at the number four spot in CO2 emissions. So what is the issue, well it goes back to the reason that this is a wicked problem you see we could completely outlaw and abolish non natural sources of energy and clean production. If that were to happen it would put many power, coal, and other unnatural energy companies out of business because they would no longer be relevant. The issue is it s simply political clean energy bills are voted in the senate and house, but the people donating to senators and
  • 4. The Separation Process Of Naphthalene And Benzoic Acid Naphthalene and benzoic acid are two compounds studied in this experiment. Sodium benzoate is also an important substance involved in the separation process. The separation technique used to extract the different compounds of a heterogeneous mixture is based on solubility and density. Regarding naphthalene and benzoic acid, their chemical properties differ from one another (Separation 1). The detailed separation process of naphthalene and benzoic acid, found in a mixture, follows. First of, when mixed together, benzoic acid and sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) react and produce sodium benzoate, water and carbon dioxide (Separation 2). Water has a particular density and naphthalene, as well as benzoic acid, are insoluble in water. Regarding naphthalene, it does not react with sodium bicarbonate, but it dissolves in ether () (Separation 2). Thus, by adding sodium bicarbonate and ether to the benzoic acid naphthalene mixture, one is left with immiscible aqueous sodium benzoate and naphthalene in ether solutions. Furthermore, ether is less dense than water and so, an ether layer floats on water as the two solvents are mixed (U of Missouri). Next, Pasteur pipettes are used to mix thoroughly the resulting solution, so that the two distinct layers form into a centrifuge tube. As ether floats on water, it is found at the top layer, whereas sodium benzoate, which contains the converted amount of benzoic acid, is found in the water bottom layer of the centrifuge container ( Separation

Located in the southeast region of the Island of Hawaii, Kilauea sits on the flank (or the side) of the active Mauna Loa volcano, and is one of five shield volcanoes that together form the Island of Hawaii. Kilauea is one of the most active volcanoes on Earth, and it is the youngest. Kilauea stands just under 4,200 feet tall above sea level at its highest point. The estimated age of the earliest above ground (subaerial) eruptions of Kilauea is between 50,000 100,000 years. The last eruption began on January 3, 1983 to the present. During this time, the lava flows have unfortunately caused destruction of nearly 200 houses, resurfaced over 13km of highway with lava, destroyed the National Park visitor center, and a 700 year old Hawaiian Temple. It has also added new coastline to the island. There are no signs that the current eruption is slowing or will end anytime soon. Kilauea has little vegetation. Kilauea has the volcano status of Historical. Kilauea has had 61 historical eruptions, not counting the continuous lava lake activity in the crater. The oldest dated rocks from Kilauea are 23,000 years old. The Island of Hawaii sits on (almost in the middle of) the Pacific Plate. The Pacific Plate is a giant jigsaw piece of the Earth s crust that is slowly moving in a northwesterly direction. It moves about four inches a year. There is a basically stationary hot spot deep within the Earth s mantle. Heat from this hot spot makes molten lava and rock (magma) that rises through the Pacific Plate and erupts continuously on the ocean floor. After thousands of eruptions and over many many years, an island forms a rocky
  • 7. Marriage And Marriage With Cleotilde In the novel, marriage is more about economic status and opportunity rather than love. Marriage is supposed to be about abundant mutual love between two people. In this case, marriage is viewed more as an for opportunity to receive citizenship and a way to improve your of social status. Relationships and marriageare a common theme throughout the novel. Obinze s marriage with Cleotilde is one another example in the book of how marriage for men is viewed as a path to improving your chances of receiving citizenship. Obinzes attempt to marry Cleotilde was a true fabrication and is not a very good example of what love actually means. When they first met, Obinze s sense of entitlement, and superiority made in very difficult for him to treat Cleo as she deserved to be treated. A fake marriage of convenience not for love but for the opportunity of citizenship is contrary to Obinze s morals. This causes Obinze to have a moral crisis inside and question the path he has taken in life. Normally marriage happens when two people decide that they would rather spend time together than apart and would find it difficult to continue without the other. In a normal relationship couples will from time to time face adversity and together work to overcome whatever challenges they face, but the adversity faced by the couple in this novel are bigger and more complex than what other couples would typically face. Obinze is using a woman to gain citizenship into a country; this is not only
  • 8. Toy And Game Market Will Be Introduced And Solutions Deduced of its annual report for 2013, the company Hasbro is in a discerning situation. Revenues and earnings fell for the last three years (see Exhibit 1) and the company started to repurchase stock at the end of 2013[1]. Three important challenges Hasbro has to face will be introduced and solutions suggested. The first paragraph will focus on the problems of toy and game companies with its buyers. After that Hasbro s increasing costs will be reviewed and the vast competition in the toy and game market will be outlined. Lastly suggestions to overcome those problems will be presented. Regarding the North American market, Hasbro depends on three big buyers producing 61%[1] of its net revenue: Wal Mart, Toys R Us and Target. Those retailers tend to use their control over their suppliers in order to reduce purchase prices and increase margin. Hasbro already suffers from buyers that order their inventory last minute. Especially in preparation of the holiday season orders for immediate delivery and late payments from the buyers lead to short term borrowings of Hasbro[1]. This dependency makes Hasbro hold very high levels of inventory (see Exhibit 2), resulting in high carrying costs and very high risks, since in the fast moving toy market unsold goods are for the most part obsolete inventory[2]. This situation results in a inventory turnover ratio of only 5.032 for Hasbro (see Exhibit 3). Its biggest competitor Mattel had a inventory turnover ratio of 5.786 in 2013 (see Exhibit

Contemporary architecture style Keywords: house plans, contemporary architecture style, design, buildings The main trademark of contemporary architecture style consists of geometric shapes, asymmetric features, and natural building materials. The focus is on function, simplicity, flexible interiors, plenty of light on airy spaces. The style is mostly minimalistic with clean lines. The house has a bold look and a very distinctive architectural street appeal. Nucor Case Analysis Essay Nucor Corporation Case Analysis Section 1: Recommendations Recommendation 1: To expand more internationally by building plants in lower property taxed areas with low tariffs to ship products out. Recommendation 2: To put in place job descriptions for employees. By doing this it will save Nucor litigation fees and troubles if something arises in the workplace between the employee and Nucor about job duties, injuries, etc. Recommendation 3: Other than expanding internationally, Nucor should make joint ventures with suppliers to keep the cost down of the product. A lot of scrap that is used is imported so it would be a good idea for Nucor to utilize that to reduce costs of making their products. Section 2: Problem(s) Even ... Another recommendation that I have for Nucor is instead of buying existing plant capacity, make new plants elsewhere or form a joint venture with a supplier to help save money. (Exhibit 3) This would decrease cost of supplies so they would have the extra money to build elsewhere or build a ne plant. By using the SWOT analysis (Exhibit 1) it let me break up Nucor into different parts to see what their strengths and weaknesses are. Nucor is solid with technology and treating the employees correct but the weaknesses that affect Nucor are more market based with some internal problems. Nucor has products for many different industries including automotive and housing. This can cause issues for Nucor if those industries take a fall, which they have over the last 5 years. It s a good idea to be in these industries but Nucor has to realize what can happen to sales and revenues when one or both of those industries take a fall. Nucor has been expanding more in the United States, recently just building a plant in Louisiana (Exhibit 5). This plant will be a 750 million dollar purchase and will be a mill for pig iron. Nucor is expanding all over the United States but needs more presence internationally plan and simple. Nucor is a solid company with shareholder equity increasing each year; they have a solid stock in the NASDAQ market and continue to be a healthy steel company. They can and will

The Drunk Bus Should Be Kept Around Essay The Drunk Bus Should Be Kept Around I remember hearing stories of such a thing called the drunk bus before I came to college, but I was not exactly sure what it was. I just figured the bus took a bunch of drunken college students to the bars when they wanted to go. Now that I am a first year student at State U, I understand I was not that far from the truth. Some say the bus should be taken away, but the fact of the matter is the bus is a necessity at college since there will always be drinking. I am also positive if there were to be a terrible wreck caused by an intoxicated student, the entire community would all agree that the drunk bus is a wise choice to keep in commission. If the drunk bus were to go out of commission, then I am certain the amount of accidents would rise dramatically. Sober students ride the bus as well Not every person who gets on the bus is intoxicated. I have talked with many of my friends and they tell me that they hardly ever are intoxicated when they go on the bus, but the just want to have a good time and dance at the club. If students ask the bus driver, he will also make stops to local grocery stores such as Wal Mart and Hy Vee. I know many students that go on the bus just hang out at the bar to have fun, without drinking. Therefore, this shows how the bus has more than one use of just transporting drunken students. Students will always drink I read a very interesting book called Behind the Arch: The Truth about Drinking at Buena Vista University. This book explained how the Storm Lake, IA community feels that having the drunk Bus around only encourages students to drink. I think the community needs to realize if there were no bus to transport intoxicated students to and from the bars, the students only option would be to drive intoxicated, which should never happen. Eighty five percent (or 334) of the 395 students who completed the online survey indicated they drank (14). It is common knowledge there

I grew up playing soccer since it was my dad s sport of choice. I quickly grew to be one of the most sought after defensive players in my club for my attitude. I was different in that I wanted defeat almost as much as I wanted victory, due to the learningopportunities that defeat could give us. Progressive Rock 1970s Progressive rock of the 1970s and the paradox of popular serious art Progressive rock of the 1970s represents a unique moment in the modern music and culture history; moment which introduced an atypical association of the highly sophisticated and complicated means of expression, derived mainly from the area of so called serious art, with the wide popularity, bordering almost with fashion. American Marxist philosopher and social theorist Bill Martin aptly named this remarkable phenomenon of progressive rock, which was based on the British rock experimentalism of the second half of the sixties and which became a global artistic trend in the following decade, using the paradoxical term popular avant garde . When the words youth and young people come up there are different connotations that come along with it, some people may feel very positive towards the youth of today. However, some people feel the complete opposite and have negative views altogether. In some cases, people believe they have Ephebiphobia which is a fear of youngpeople, with 1.5 million Britons considering to move houses last year and about 1.7 million people not going out after dark to avoid youngsters (Lewis, 2016). Researchers are fearing that the public are alienating the youthand A rise in social Paedophobia will simply make matters worse Nick Pierce the IPPR (Institute for Public Policy Research). This is mainly because of the wanton destruction that occurs in the course of reaching amicable solutions to disputes. The First World War was fought on an unprecedented scale in the history of mankind. In Soldier s Home, Ernest Hemmingway highlights the predicament of a youthful soldier upon his return from military duty in Europe. Harold Krebs finds it difficult to fit into the society once he returns from active duty in the World War I . This paper compares the life of the soldier before and after returning to his hometown after war. It becomes apparent that the negative implications of war endure long after the wars come to an end. Various factors make Harold Krebs s story especially fascinating. Firstly, his case is unique among his hometown counterparts for one reason. Krebs happened to be a member of the second division, which did not get home until one year after the War s completion. He returned to Oklahoma in 1919, a whole year after his colleagues from other divisions returned home (Hemmingway). By this time, men who were drafted from the town had already been elaborately welcomed back into the society. Nobody seemed to understand why Krebs had to come back so late after the War s completion. One cannot help but sympathize with the returning soldier following the cold reception he gets back home. Everybody else has since settled in and adjusted to life in

Because of these industries taking off in California many other states wanted what that state had. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, the women and minority groups of California became extremely confident in their own rights (Osborne, 313). A direct DNA probe is made up of modified dNTPs which have been altered to contain a fluorophore (a fluorescent chemical compound that has the ability to re emit light upon mild excitation), these will bind to the ADA gene strands if there are no mutations present (i.e. it is a fully functioning gene). A Look at the Dangers of Leg Weakness You may not realize how little conscious thought walking or moving takes until you are in a position where your lower body mobility is affected by a medical condition. Once this happens it can make the smallest tasks seem much more difficult. Since movement is at the core of everything you do throughout your day, difficulty in completing simple tasks can take a toll on both your physical and mental well being. Lack of maneuverability can have serious consequences leading to feelings of isolation, depression, and/or anxiety. Recognizing symptoms, addressing them properly, and implementing the use of aids in your day to day life could help to minimize the effects and risks associated with lowered mobility. What is Leg Weakness? Leg weakness is an absence of muscular or physical strength in your legs accompanied by the feeling that additional effort is required to produce movement. If this deficiency is the result of pain, then when you make those lower body muscles work it will hurt. He investigated the nature of moral thought by interacting with children, presenting them with a story in which moral dilemmas were faced by the characters in the story. This is what led to the birth of his theory of moral development. This essay therefore seeks to practically apply Kohlberg s thesis to the real world. Kohlberg on Moral Development A professor at Harvard University developed a theory of moral development which incorporated the thinking of a Swiss psychologist named Jean Piaget and an American philosopher named John Dewey (Barger, 2000). The professor went by the name Lawrence Kohlberg. Kohlberg mainly used Piaget s theory of moral development as the foundation to develop these ideas further (Piaget, 1932). He incorporated the method of telling a story that presents a dilemma that Piaget came up with, which would give people options for them to choose what they would feel is right choice (Kohlberg, 1958). Kohlberg (1984) presented the dilemmas as moral dilemmas, and the way an individual reasoned the dilemma would determine the stage (with regards to moral development) in which he would classify them. Kohlberg used the reasons that the individuals gave as a way to see how moral reasoning changed as people grow

However, there is also much debate in academic materials which are identifying nationalism as a hindrance in achieving the possibilities presented by globalization, as well as a risk factor in war. Therefore, there is a division in terms of if nationalism is progressive or regressive, as far as international relations are concerned. As a response to these conflicting views, this paper will explore the relevant literature to support the thesis that nationalism is a progressive force in international relations. Nationalism is a Progressive Force O Leary (1997) argues that nationalism is the most significant form of political legitimacy in the modern world, as well as an astute component of modernity. According to O Leary, nationalism is a principle that holds a nation to be institutionally expressed freely and collectively under the rule of its own co nationals. However, not all share the views of O Leary, with sections associating nationalism with regression as opposed to progression with regards to international relations. English Tort Law And The Public Sector English Tort Law and the Importance of Duty of Care in the Public Sector (Based on the Kent v Griffith Case from the year 2000) Tort Law is concerned with accidental injuries and deals with the distribution of losses occurred during those injuries. Every country has its own statutory law , thus according to these laws acts in its own way in different situations. Public health and ambulance services are of great importance when it comes to preventing injuries and damages. In the UK, before the 2000s, ambulances were not obliged (by common law) to provide emergency service, but were rather considered an ordinary health care provider. Therefore, in a lot of cases it would be difficult to put the liability on the defendant, which automatically leads to a higher number of injuries and damages. In the case Kent v Griffith an important outcome and rule is created, which creates the hope of decreasing damages significantly in the future. I will argue that the duty of care in the health care system (especially ambulances) should be treated with greater attention, as it can lessen enormous damages caused by delayed service and unreasoned explanations. Furthermore, I will try and prove that, due to negligence, the damages created by delayed services, thus lack of duty of care in the public sector, are far exceeding precaution costs; Moreover, they harm the economy and social well being as well. Duty of care can be viewed as a control device used for determining when the defendant

Simply put the more people who exists the more healthcare that is required. Population is not the only factor and other sub factors of population such as age, race, and ethnicity or demographics and they also have an impact on Healthcare. For example, the population of people in the U.S. over the age of 65 in 1950 was only 8.1% of the total population. The trend of that number is expected to rise to 20.2% by 2050. Geographic trends can assist healthcare professionals where to focus their educational efforts in terms of healthcare availability. Psychographics examines the consumer or the factors that motive them such as values, attitudes, beliefs, motions, interests, and personalities. There are three stages of cancer; initiation, promotion and progression. Dr. Campbell used the following analogy to further explain the three stages: Initiation is when the you plant the seeds in the soil. Promotion is when the grass starts to grow and progression is when the grass is completely out of control and invading the sidewalk, driveway and shrubbery. The first stage happens within minutes, the carcinogen is consumed, absorbed into the blood, transported into cells, changed into its active product and bonded to DNA. Carcinogens are the chemicals that initiate cancer prone cells, they successfully implant the seeds in the soil. These carcinogens generically mutate normal cells into cancer prone cells, permanently altering the genes of the cell and therefore damaging its DNA. The promotion growth stage occurs over years, this is when the cluster has multiplied and grown into larger masses and now a clinically visible tumor is formed and has become a detectable cancer. Just like seeds in soil, these cancer cells will not grow and multiply unless the right conditions are met. Promotion is reversible! This is where certain
