Introduction
As an adolescent, I am aware of the frequent use of recreational drugs by adolescents,
in particular cannabis. Many people believe that smoking pot is harmless. I have
undertaken this research project on the long term effects of cannabis on the
developing, adolescent brain to establish whether there are long term effects on the
brain from the use of cannabis as an adolescent, and to consider what scientific and
medical evidence there is on this topic.
There have been copious amounts of research and studies relating to this topic, since
the 1970s. However, to discover these long term effects, it is necessary to conduct
tests, some of these requiring decades of research in order to produce valid statistics.
More recently, neuroscience studies have also contributed further to the research
relating to this topic, in particular, focusing on the area of the structure of the brain,
due to modern technologies. Research has demonstrated that various long term issues
have arisen from adolescents using cannabis. The main issues discussed in this report
are the mental illnesses linked to cannabis use, the impact of cognitive function, as
well as changes in brain structure, which, to an extent also affect cognitive and

do more harm than good as role models and cultural icons. I have come to the
conclusion that they do more harm than good. It s important to note that I will be
basing most of my information on the Supermanand Batmanmovie. I have 3 main
reasons why I believe this, 1 they are not relatable, 2 they solve their problems

Freedom riders fought for racial equality among African Americans in America in
the 1960 s. Their purpose was to first stop segregation of transportation, and then
later expand to racial equality everywhere. They were inspired by Rosa parks
actions and advised by Martin Luther King Jr. The freedom riders protests lasted 7
months with about 400 members participating in them. Riders were supported by
the Congress for Racial Inequality or CORE. Throughout history the southern
states has been a place of slavery and after it has been abolished, the south finds a

behavior, the races are segregated. In the south the freedom riders faced many
oppositions by legal forces to stop their protests. Rosa Parks was the first person to

South? Well, the Scottsboro Boys were a group of black youths that got into a fight
with white boys in a freight car on a train going from Chattanooga, TN south to
Alabama. After the white boys told officers about the fight, the Boys were taken into
custody. Then two white girls that were on the train accused the black youths of rape
and they were officially arrested. The story of the Scottsboro Boys is one of cruelty,
neglect, and lies in the Jim Crow south. This is how the story of the Scottsboro
Boys begin. March 25, 1931 four African American boys jumped on a freight car in
Chattanooga, TN. The boys names were Haywood Patterson, Eugene Williams,
Roy and Andy Wright (Aretha 9). A white boy stepped on Patterson s hand and
almost pushed Williams off the train, then the trouble began (Aretha 10). After
Patterson stood up for his friends and himself, the white boys got mad and threw
rocks at the black youths. The boys from Chattanooga were joined by other black
