  • 10. Inspection Prior to Start of Work At the time machinery brought by subcontractors by principle contractor. Machineries, tools and plants are inspected & approved by BHEL Engineers. Scope. Materials. Facilities. Legal. Voluntary. Random inspections due,FC,Ins etc . Safety Prior to start of work .
  • 11. Site Manager Patrol Once in a day. Cover entire area State of facilities. Machinery. Placement. Supervision. Environment. Accident Prevention measures. State of Progress of all work. Confirms the level of notification. Coordination between different Agencies. Eliminates unsafe condition & practices.
  • 12.   • 14. After work site clean up Carried out by workers for 5 – 10 Min before Finishing each day’s work covering worksite,common areas. Helps preparation For the following Day’s Work – Maintenance Of pleasant Work site Prevention of Accidents & Improvement Of working efficiency Tidying of materials & tools used, unnecessary materials. Cleaning storage, common areas. Storage location, storage, Conveyance methods,division of responsibilities and cooperation of contractors planned in advanced by principal contractors.
  • 15. End of work check Upon completion of work- Confirmation of close of work – for entire site, vicinity Ensure – Safety and prevent FIRES THEFTS HARMS TO Third parties. Sub contracts Confirm All FLAMES Extinguished. KEYS removed from Heavy m/c. POWER locked. COMPUTERS-OFF. Notify principal contractor in the event of over time. Clear up of office work. Hand over “End of work Report’ to principal contractor Turn on lights,Lock door & office. Principal contractor receives,confirms and reports to site manager.
  • 16. Promotion of 5-day work week Weekly HSE Work Cycle Weekly Overall Clean-up Weekly Inspection by Principal Contractor And Sub-contractor Weekly Safety Process Discussion WEEKLY HSE WORK CYCLE
  • 17. Weekly HSE Work cycles Weekly discussion safety procedures between Principal contractor and contractor side BHEL Side. Site manager. Site controller. Relevant staff. HSE Engineer. HSE Consultant staff. Foreman / supervisor. HSE Consultant Engineer.
  • 18. Process – previous week & Assessment. Coordination between different tasks according to the stage. Ensure knowledge of danger zones. Alteration in placement of passage ways & temporary Structure & Scheduling. Agenda – for process plan for the week is explained to contractors & subcontractors
  • 19. Weekly Inspection Conducted on week ends by BHEL Consultant Engineer and Contractor’s Foreman. Entire work site & machineries . Work environment. Tools & Plants. Construction machinery. Confirms that inspection are carried out by HSE Engineer of contractor. Thorough check ensures nothing has been overlooked in the daily inspection. No faults. No accidents.
  • 20. Weekly overall Clean up carried out once in a week on a specified day and time covering the entire site. For all the workers of contractors & sub contractors. Under the leadership of BHEL HSE Consultant Engineer & HSE Engineers/HSE In charge of contractors. Removal of unnecessary materials, by products, Tidying of unused materials and clearing up major passage ways. All understand & agree for effectiveness. cooperation by all Cleaning implements such as brooms. Dust bins. Watering cans. Bags. Dust collectors.Rubbish containers.
  • 21. Definition of accumulation sites responsibility for tidying and clearing the areas - and removal methods –no area is omitted. Use of bell or broadcast to make the start and end of cleaning up, playing music is effective. Tidying, cleaning and securing passage ways is to be a part of daily work and weekly clean up. Award scheme / standards to evaluate. Helps to check. • Pleasant working environment. •Maintain discipline on site. •Improve management of machinery & materials. •Reduced behavior based accidents. •Improve efficiency. •Prepare for the following week’s works.
  • 22. Safety and Health Council(Accident Prevention Council) Monthly Safety Work Cycle Regular Inspection, Voluntary Checks (Principal Contractor And Sub-Contractors) Safety and Health General Meeting Safety and Health Education(Use Case studies of Industrial accidents) MONTHLY SAFETY WORK CYCLE

  • 26. HSE General meeting Monthly once thirty minutes meeting. Agenda * Assessment of HSE performance for preceding month. * Explanation of processes for the coming month. * Presentation of HSE awards including individual awards , awards for subcontractors and commemorative gifts. useful to heighten awareness of HSE issues at site.
