The document describes the stages of rotation of the gut during embryonic development. The midgut and superior mesenteric artery form a loop outside the abdominal cavity initially. During the first stage, the prearterial segment starts entering the abdominal cavity, passing under the distal part. In the second stage, the postarterial segment also enters while the cecum and colon descend into the cavity. Further rotations bring the gut into its final adult position in 3 stages, with potential disorders arising if rotation is incomplete.
