What is the future of Robotics?
What is Robotics?
 Robotics is the science and technology of
robots, including their design, manufacture, and
application.
 These technologies deal with automated
machines that can take the place of humans in
dangerous environments or manufacturing
processes.
What is a Robot?
 A Robot is an electro-
mechanical programmable or
self controlled device.
 Used to perform specific
tasks and assist humans in
daily life.
 The word “Robot” is derived
from Czech writer Karel
Capek’s play “Rossum's
Universal Robots” which
means Labour.

How are Robots build?
We will assume that we will be programming a
microcontroller rather than software for a full-fledged
computer.
There are many programming languages which can be used to
program microcontrollers, the most common of which are:
o Assembly Language
o Basic (Basic Micro, BasicX, Parallax) for educational robots.
o C/C++
o Java (Parallax)
o .NET/C# (Netduino, FEZ Rhino and others).
o Arduino (Variant of C++)
o Python
RobotC
 RobotC extends the C programming language
with a number of built-in variables and functions
to provide control over a robot’s hardware
devices, i.e. the motors and sensors.
There are three main sections to the RobotC IDE:

What are Robots used for?
Androids for human assistance.
Robot locomotion.
Robotic surgery.
Laboratory robotics.
Perform life threatening tasks
and so on...

samples on Mars.
Famous Robots
• Honda's ASIMO: A robot that can walk on
two legs like a person.
• Sony's AIBO: A robotic dog that learns
through human interaction.
• Sony’s QRIO: A robot that recognize and
remember voices.
• NASA's Mars rovers.
• Industrial robots: Automated machines
that work on assembly lines.
• Data: The almost human android from
"Star Trek“.
• Bomb-defusing robots.

What is the future of Robotics?
• Artificial Intelligence.
• Teaching.
• Research.
• Autonomous robots.
“Robots will benefit the world in unimaginable ways”...
THANK YOU
