The document describes a system for controlling a robotic arm using hand gestures. The system uses an accelerometer to capture hand gestures which are then sent to an Arduino board via an NRF transceiver module. The Arduino processes the signals and controls the robotic arm to imitate the human hand movements. A prototype robotic arm was constructed and tested to respond to various hand gestures from a distance using a wireless module. The system was designed to provide a more natural user interface for controlling robots.

1. ROBOT ARM CONTROLLING USING
HAND GESTURES
Abstract:
Recent discoveries have revealed that robots can be of great help to human and can actually ease
their life. Therefore, increased opportunities for many people to operate the robots have emerged.
However, for many people, it is often difficult to operate a robot using the conventional methods
like remote control or using image processing techniques. So, finding a more natural and easy
user interface is of prime importance. Only a few robotic systems are used with user friendly
interfaces that possess the ability to control the robot by commonly used objects. To facilitate a
feasible solution to this requirement, we have implemented a system through which the user can
give commands to a wireless robot using different gestures. Gestures can be captured with the
help of an accelerometer and the signals are sent to Arduino via NRF Transceiver module where
they are processed and the robot is controlled.
The robotic arm is made to imitate the human hand movements using a hand glove. The robotic
arm is controlled from a distant location using a wireless module. A prototype of the robotic arm
was constructed and tested for various hand movements.
