3. Introduction
A mobile robot is a machine controlled by
software that use sensors and other
technology to identify its surroundings and
move around its environment. Mobile
robots function using a combination of
artificial intelligence (AI) and physical
robotic elements, such as wheels, tracks
and legs.
4. Types of Mobile Robots
A
B
C D
Autonomous (AMR)
● Capable of navigating an uncontrolled
environment
● Move and explore their surroundings
without external direction
● independent.
Non-Autonomous / Guided (GMR)
● Require external help such as wires,
magnetic strips
● Create Inflexible environment, difficult to
adjust and expensive
5. UnderwaterRobots
Classifications of Mobile Robots
Polar Robots
Designed to traverse icy,
uneven environments.
Aerial Robots
Also known as unmanned aerial
vehicles (UAVs) or drones, which
fly through the air.
Home Robots
Also known as unmanned ground
vehicles (UGVs), that navigate on
dry land or within houses.
Also known as autonomous underwater
vehicles (AUVs), that can direct themselves
and travel through water.
Delivery& transportationRobots
Designed to move materials and
supplies around a work environment.
6. Industrial mobile robot systems, perhaps the most commonly used today, possess
several core features that should always be present.
Softwares :
● wireless communication
● integrated safety
● fleet simulation software
● fleet management software
● integration with the company's supervisory software
Hardwares :
● Controllers
● Sensors
● Actuators
● PC
Components of Mobile Robot
7. Uses and functions
● Load cargo in warehouses.
● Ocean exploration and navigation
● Nuclear power plants
● A robotic pack dog or exoskeleton to
carry heavy loads for military troopers;
● Robotic arms to assist doctors in
surgery
● Manufacturing automated prosthetics
that imitate the body's natural
functions and
● Patrolling and monitoring
applications, such as surveilling
thermal and other environmental
conditions
8. Advantages & Disadvantages
● Mobile robots are flexible and
quick to implement
● They have computer vision
capabilities
● Easy to move between facilities
● Limitations on size of the load that
can be carried
● They require large amount of SKUs
to operate at the highest level
● Challenges with wireless
connections between the robot
and information endpoint.
Pros
9. ● Kuri means a dog in the Mauri
language and can be treated as a
robotic pet .
● Designed to interact with you and
your family
● Captures your moments.
● Responds to voice commands.
● It allows you to watch your home
through kuri (surveillance).
10. Features of Kuri
● Autonomous navigation
● HD video recording.
● Dual speakers for play from audio
library.
● Four-microphone array for voice
detection.
● Face recognition to help it "capture
unexpected moments" around the
home.
● Mapping sensors to prevent it bumping
into objects or falling down stairs.
● Touch detection to allow it to respond
to its owner in cute ways, such as
looking up and chirping if its head was
tapped
11. Interesting facts about KURI
● Kuri automatically returns for charging
when its battery runs low.
● Kuri loves to dance to music, and has a
chest light that illuminates with the beat.
● Kuri responds to voice commands,
sometimes with her unique romojis(robot
emojis).
● Kuri shoots a 5 seconds video clip of your
life at home. When you star your favorites,
the robot start to learn about you
