 enlist various elements of basic teaching model
 See the relationship between different components
 Analyse various elements of this model
 Apply basic elements of this model in their teaching
Glaser’s Basic Teaching Model
 Developed by Robert Glaser in 1962.
 It is based on psychological principle.
 It is termed as basic as it tries to explain teaching
appropriately by dividing into four components.
Focus of Basic Teaching Model
 To give knowledge about four basic components of
teaching.
 To make teaching more effective and systemic.
Syntax of Basic Teaching
model
 Instructional Objectives.
 Entry Behavior of learners.
 Instructional Procedure.
 Performance Assessment.
 Feedback.
Social System
 Sufficiently well structured.
 Active role and control of teacher.
 Success depends upon competency and abilites of
teacher.
 Success also depends upon various skills acquired by
teacher.
Support System
 Pre-service and in service training.
 Need of desirable teaching learning situation.
 Suitable teaching methods and techniques.
 Appropriate evaluation techniques.
Principles of Reaction
 Principle of active involvement.
 Principle of inter -dependence.
 Principle of correction .
 Principle of follow up.
Application
 Applicable to all subjects.
 Applicable to situations requiring flow of knowledge
quite systematic.
 Helpful in realizing objectives with in limited means.

  • 4. Glaser’s Basic Teaching Model  Developed by Robert Glaser in 1962.  It is based on psychological principle.  It is termed as basic as it tries to explain teaching appropriately by dividing into four components.
  • 5. Focus of Basic Teaching Model  To give knowledge about four basic components of teaching.  To make teaching more effective and systemic.
  • 6. Syntax of Basic Teaching model  Instructional Objectives.  Entry Behavior of learners.  Instructional Procedure.  Performance Assessment.  Feedback.
  • 7. Social System  Sufficiently well structured.  Active role and control of teacher.  Success depends upon competency and abilites of teacher.  Success also depends upon various skills acquired by teacher.
  • 8. Support System  Pre-service and in service training.  Need of desirable teaching learning situation.  Suitable teaching methods and techniques.  Appropriate evaluation techniques.
  • 9. Principles of Reaction  Principle of active involvement.  Principle of inter -dependence.  Principle of correction .  Principle of follow up.
  • 10. Application  Applicable to all subjects.  Applicable to situations requiring flow of knowledge quite systematic.  Helpful in realizing objectives with in limited means.
