– Expressed or expressible as a quantity
• Advantages
– If you wanted to ask more people then it would be easier
to use this research
• Disadvantages
– Not good if you wanted to ask a couple of people

Qualitative Research
• Definition
– research that goes more in depth- finding out
opinions/beliefs/reasoning.
• Advantage
– Good if you wanted to ask a couple people about something
• Disadvantages
– Not good for a big group of people
• Example
– Conducted with open questions
Audience Research
• Definition to help producers understand the needs of their target
audience.
• Advantages
– Prouducers know what their audience what theyre audience is looking for
• Disadvantages
– Might not be able to make the exact thing the audience is looking for.
• Example
– Someone wants a real life dinosaur movie but they cant produce that as theyre
aren’t any dinnosuars.
Market Research
• Definition
– the action or activity of gathering information about consumers'
needs and preferences
• Advantages
– You get to know what your consumers needs and preferences
• Disadvantages
– Might be difficult to find the research and people could have
already made what your planning on making.
• Example
– questionnaires
Production Research
• Definition
– to gather information on the content of production related
issues
• Advantages
– Knowing if there are any issues with production
• Disadvantages
– The production issue could not be fixable.
• Example
– finding a trending item in a publication

– Research that is not influenced by personal feelings or opinions
• Subjective
– Research that has been influenced by personal feelings or
opinions
• Valid
– Whether the research proposed is able to answer the intended
outcome/question
• Reliable
– Research that produces accurate and consistent results

  • 4. Secondary Research • Definition – Studying previously undertaken research. • Advantages – Makes life easier and you don’t have to do anything yourself • Disadvantages – Somethings you might find might not be true. • Example – Internet research – Library research – Archive research
  • 5. Quantitative Research • Definition – Expressed or expressible as a quantity • Advantages – If you wanted to ask more people then it would be easier to use this research • Disadvantages – Not good if you wanted to ask a couple of people • Example – Closed questions
  • 6. Qualitative Research • Definition – research that goes more in depth- finding out opinions/beliefs/reasoning. • Advantage – Good if you wanted to ask a couple people about something • Disadvantages – Not good for a big group of people • Example – Conducted with open questions

Audience Research • Definition to help producers understand the needs of their target audience. • Advantages – Prouducers know what their audience what theyre audience is looking for • Disadvantages – Might not be able to make the exact thing the audience is looking for. • Example – Someone wants a real life dinosaur movie but they cant produce that as theyre aren’t any dinnosuars.

Market Research • Definition – the action or activity of gathering information about consumers' needs and preferences • Advantages – You get to know what your consumers needs and preferences • Disadvantages – Might be difficult to find the research and people could have already made what your planning on making. • Example – questionnaires
  • 9. Production Research • Definition – to gather information on the content of production related issues • Advantages – Knowing if there are any issues with production • Disadvantages – The production issue could not be fixable. • Example – finding a trending item in a publication
  • 10. Terminology • Objective – Research that is not influenced by personal feelings or opinions • Subjective – Research that has been influenced by personal feelings or opinions • Valid – Whether the research proposed is able to answer the intended outcome/question • Reliable – Research that produces accurate and consistent results
