WHAT IS THIS ABOUT ?
   I have researched into similar products to find out
    what I need to include in my trailer, poster and
    magazine cover. There are certain conventions
    that are used to make a successful product.
   I have done some audience research which has
    helped me to find out who my target audience are
    and what they would like to see in my trailer.
   All of this will help my planning and production to
    help me make a successful product.
SIMILAR PRODUCTS – CONVENTIONS FROM
MAIN RESEARCH
             In horror-comedy trailers they use lots of
              scenes from the movie itself.
             Dialogue is minimal for horror trailers but
              horror comedy use lots of different sound
              effects.
             The use of comedy in the trailers are very
              subtle but convey the points that are
              needed to be made.
             There is some use of on screen writing to
              give information which can be very
              effective to the audience.

PRODUCTION FOR MAIN TASK
   I found out that I need to include lots of different shot types
    which will then make my trailer successful as it gives you
    different views of what is going to happen and see characters
    different points of views.
   By including all of the main characters in the trailer it helps to
    establish the film so I will do this in order to make my trailer
    successful.

       ANCILLARY RESEARCH
   The title of the film on the posters are very big
    and bold.
   They use quite close ups for the main image
    on the posters to show who the main
    characters are.
   The magazine covers always use one main
    image and usually concentrate on one film.
   The root of the eye is conveyed in all of the
    posters because you see the masthead first
    then the image and then the main subject/film.
   The colours used are mostly the same by
    using 3 main colours which keep the magazine
    cover on task and not confusing.

PRODUCTION FOR ANCILLARY TASK
             By using a conventional layout by having
              the masthead at the top, the image
              central and the main cover line just below
              the image, it wont confuse the reader
              because this is how the route of the eye
              works.
             By making the cover lines smaller than
              the masthead it shows what the magazine
              is called but then by having the main
              cover line in a smaller font but larger than
              the cover lines it shows what they
              magazine is mainly about.
TARGET AUDIENCE
   My audience research showed me that humour is the most
    important thing people would like to see in the trailer.
   The one way that I could market my trailer, poster and
    magazine cover would be to upload it to a social
    networking site or make a Facebook/Twitter page because
    most of the people I surveyed said they used social media
    websites. So it’s a cheap way to market my product.
   The things that they would like to see the most are adults
    and a hero or villain, so by including these it will appeal to
    the right kind of people as this is the information they gave
    me.
TARGET AUDIENCE – PLANNING AND
PRODUCTION
   If I tried to include the main things that people would like to
    see in the trailer then it could make my product successful as
    it would be appealing to the people I most want it to.
   By uploading my trailer to a social networking site then I could
    gain some good feedback to see what is good and what
    needs to be improved as my target audience are most likely to
    see it through this type of marketing.
