As for me, I am more a free spirited person. I don t look for religion to be in public schools. Religion
is more towards private schools. In the video, it talks about religion, copyrighted laws, teacher
liability, and child abuse. While watching this video, I don t think any of this will affect me when it
comes to teaching. I agree as a teacher it is your responsibility when the kids are under your
supervision. When a child gets hurt, you are the one to get the blame because those kids are your
responsibility. I think it s best for a teacher to help those students who are being attacked. You are
legally responsible for the safety of children under your supervision. The courts employ the principle
of in loco parentis, which means ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As for a future teacher, I would have to disagree with the school s administrators on religion being in
public schools. When I teach my students, I would only teach them to learn and know the truth. I m
not religious; everyone has a different religion. I would teach my students the truth and what I believe
they should be aware not based on what they need to know from a biblical perspective. I m all for a
school to teach religious freedom and acceptance of all religious beliefs, but teach religion in public
school is not acceptable. If this was a Christian school or Islamic school, that is an entirely normal
thing to teach religion. I don t believe that public schools should oppress kids with religion. Especially
children that don t understand the religion and conform just because others show their belief.
Everyone should have the choice. Private schools, on the other hand, it is up to the school. Agree or
disagree doesn t matter to me. I think it s okay to teach about other religions, but not necessarily to
prepare them to become part of the faith. Like if they want to do more research and become a member
of that faith, cool, I don t want to force them one way or another. But I still think it s an important part
of history, and an important step in breeding tolerance, to make students aware of the basics and their
options I guess. Teach about it, not for it if that makes

The Critical Concern Of Immigration
For this project I tackled the critical concern of immigration. Immigration has been a concern of the
sisters for a while now and I wanted to learn more about what has been happening behind the scenes
to help those who are brought into this country illegally. The topic I focused on the most was how
migrant workers in Maine are treated and how they are being paid and if there is housing provided for
the worker while they are here working. I wanted to mainly focus on the blueberry harvesting
industries in Maine mostly because I live next to four of them and see these workers every summer
rake blueberries on hot summer days. I wanted to research and find out how much these workers
make, where and if they are housed, and how they deal with these hot summer conditions. While I was
creating this project I learned a lot about the blueberry harvesting industry that I didn t know.
According to the Bangor Daily News that of 2013 the Department of Labor is trying to improve the
benefits for migrant workers as well as living conditions and any federal support that is offered. Every
blueberry field owner is required to offer free housing to their workers while they are there raking and
the benefits they are trying to improve include food stamps, child care, health care, and legal aid.
Improving these benefits will draw more labor migrants into the work force. Those applying for these
benefits have to go through government organization agencies where the workers are temporarily
housed

Medicine And The Medical Field
Medicine is an often subjective term with many options. Medicine or the medical field usually holds
more than a thousand of different treatments to treat illnesses and ailments of all kinds. Many are of
the normal variety and can be easily treated with medication, some are usually and easily fixed
through surgery and then there are others that are treated through alternative measures often referred
to as Alternative Medicine. Alternative Medicine is any range of medical therapies that are not
regulated as orthodox by medical professionals. Reiki is a form of alternative medicine known for its

These new methods of practicing Reiki is what the United States knows to be the norm and expected

versatility, energy harnessing potential and moral standing is what allows the transferal of energy to be
so potent as it is transferred to the patient. Therefore, the Reiki practitioner is expected to live by a
standard of conduct, while religion is not required they do insist practitioners have a spiritual guide of
whatever form, have the ability to maneuver between different setting and adapt to the Reiki receivers
needs, have a strong belief in the power of Reiki so that the energy can reach its highest aptitude,
while living a morally sound life outside of practicing Reiki so that negative energies are not

staying strongly associated with having the ability to virtually heal any and every illness and injury.
Along with holding the capacity to act as a booster to common methods of therapy, to assist in helping

What Is SDN Controller
The SDN layer essentially acts a virtual software switch or router in place of (or in conjunction with)
the physical network devices. Software from outside the devices takes over the job, instead of
software embedded in the routers and switches managing the traffic. The network layout, or
topography, is no longer rooted in the physical. Instead, it s flexible and adjustable to the systems
needs on the fly. SDN promises to solve both cost of labor performing manual maintenance and
administrative tasks in one single blow to the status quo. Traffic engineering problem for SDN
controller is to route the traffic in such a way that the delay and packet loss at link are minimized. In
existing scenario SDN controllers are deployed incrementally. In proposed system SDN controllers are
deployed in tree like structure such that lower level controller is controlled by upper level controller so
that all the network is controlled by single SDN controller centrally. Making possible to centralized
control over the global view of network with improved architecture will be considered. Keywords

s it is important to have centralize control over the resources rather than distributed one. In current
network architectures, the network devices are bundled with a specialized control plane and various
specialized features. This essentially binds us with the features shipped with the device. SDN breaks

Male And Female Communication
Men Are from Mars and Women Are from Venus , is a true statement.
Male and Female communication styles are totally different. Men and women appear to be from two
different planets. How does communication and culture affect how you communication? I agree, that
cultural communication is taught different based on gender? Yes, Females are taught at a very young
age to be great listeners and pay close attention to detail. Males on the other hand or taught to leave all
the detail stuff to the women. Both way men and women separately are two totally different genders.

not like. Women in long term relationships know all about the man. They know their favorite food,
favorite color and their like and dislikes. Men, from my experiences do not like a lot of
communication talking in other words. Women on the other hand enjoys communication and I agree
that Deborah Tannen statement, Being understood without saying what you mean gives a payoff in

Misconstrued Time in Ferdi Riskiyanto´s Advertisment
Time has overtaken the minds of society today in a multitude of ways. Daily tasks such as visiting
family members, attending meetings, and paying bills all incorporate the substantial importance in
tracking every second of a person s life. In addition to scheduling, time is often denoted as a system of
counting down until an indefinite end occurs. In an advertisement by Ferdi Rizkiyanto, a digital artist,
an hourglass is used to represent time before the fate of humans concludes due to global warming.
Within the hourglass, sand has been replaced by the water of melting icebergs, and the droplets trickle
into the lower level containing the homes of modern day society. The global warming hourglass ad
attempts to emphasize the importance of immediately solving earth s impending environmental
problems by appealing to the emotions of fear and pity, but the awaiting disaster used in the visual is
ineffective because it will not occur during the audience s lifetime. In this advertisement by Ferdi, the
world is placed within the lower chamber of an hourglass. All of society continues to follow their
daily routines, and nothing seems out of the ordinary. However, far above their heads, the polar ices
caps are slowly melting. Many artic animals lose their homes and become stranded due to this issue.
As the ice melts, it slowly filters into the earth bearing chamber, eventually causing the entire
population to be flooded in a problem that could have been slowed, if not stopped

Asexual Reproduction Vs. Desert Grasslands Whiptail Lizard
Asexual or Sexual Reproduction There are many methods of reproduction, but the two main methods
are sexual and asexual, but which one is more efficient or beneficial. Sexual reproduction is the fusing
of two gametes to produce an offspring. This form of reproduction is used by a lot of organisms,
including us. Asexual reproduction is reproduction that only involves one parent. ( Pros and cons of
sexual and asexual reproduction ). I am going to focus on asexual reproduction and the Desert
Grassland Whiptail Lizard. This unique lizard uses asexual reproduction. Asexual reproduction is
better for this species of lizards because it only requires one parent, it is less risky, and the population
is only female.

Two Different Philosophical Views in Grendel and Beowulf...
Beowulf and Grendel are two tales similar in many ways, yet different from each other. These stories
are like a coin; you cannot have one side without the other. Just as the sides of a coin share the same
coin, these stories share a similar plot, a setting, and tell of the same events. The sides of a coin also
have differences as do Beowulf and Grendel. In the case of these two tales this difference is in their
respective philosophical views. Beowulf portrays the philosophical views of life that many people still
regard today. Those views helped to shape and define the ideal Dane in their culture. For example, the
traits looked for among the Danes were honesty, bravery, and humility. These three requirements in
the Danes were but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In contrast to the Danes of Beowulf , Grendel searched for his very reason of existence by asking the
questions Why? and How? for answers. Grendel started off in the book struggling with finding
meaning in his life while watching the people clearly doing things that gave their lives meaning. He
became upset as he saw that he couldn t deter their spirits no matter what he did and started to feel
jealous of their self found purpose. He realized that through various ways the people attained meaning.
In response to his confusion over their self discovered purpose, Grendel started listening to the Shaper
s words when he spoke to the people shaping their very beliefs which confused Grendel even more on
the meaning of life. After listening to the Shaper for a while, readers can see Grendel in a state of
contradiction. He started off killing people as a simple, bestial monstrosity but in the end he is shown
as quite intelligent and capable of choosing whether to kill or not. Soon, Grendel started seeking
answers to his questions from a dragon. The dragon s very philosophy on life was that there is no
meaning of life which started to influence Grendel. Upon Grendel s persistent questions of Why? , the
dragon told him You improve them, my boy! Can t you see that yourself? You stimulate them! You

Regenerative Brayton Cycle Analysis

Design Project 1:
Regenerative Brayton Cycle

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this design project was to investigate the effect of various design and operating
parameters on the thermal efficiency, net work output per unit mass, and back work ratio of a
regenerative Brayton cycle. Specifically, these parameters include the pressure ratio, TminTmax ratio,
regenerator effectiveness, and compressor and turbine efficiencies, assuming the working fluid to be
air at 100kPa and 300K at the compressor inlet. Model calculations are presented ... Show more

Due to their low overall thermal efficiencies, gas turbines initially had limited uses. As time has
passed, many renovations have been implemented to the gas turbine cycle to make it more efficient.
Some modifications include: increasing the turbine inlet temperatures, increasing the efficiencies of
turbo machinery components, and adding modifications to the basic cycle. In contrast to the ideal
cycle, the actual cycle undergoes unavoidable pressure drops during the heat addition and heat
rejection processes. In addition, the actual work input to the compressor is always more than the
output and the actual work output of the turbine is less than the work input due to irreversibility. These
relationships are displayed in the figures below:
Four other common modifications to the simple ideal and actual Brayton cycles include: 1)
Regeneration 2) Reheat 3) Intercooling 4) Regeneration with Reheat and Intercooling
The only methods amongst these choices that improve the overall thermal efficiency of the ideal
Brayton cycle are those that utilize regeneration. However, each of these four improvements also
increase the initial cost of building the equipment as well as the maintenance cost for the cycle. Thus,
deciding which power cycle to build depends on economics as much as it depends on engineering.

The World Is Not A New Way Of Thinking Essay
The world can only appear monochromatic to those who persist in interpreting what they experience
through the lens of a single cultural paradigm, their own (Davis 6). Growing up in a twenty first
century western culture society has created an ethnocentrism view of the cultures that created the
world into what it is today. This thought of western society as being ethnocentric is not a new way of
thinking. In fact, the world has been practicing the act of viewing one s own culture as superior to that
of another for hundreds of centuries, if not even longer. We raise our children on stories of
ethnocentrism, maybe not the far extreme views and acts of it, but the idea that the first Americans
came to the new world and ate with the native tribes, which would only be the first act of a ballad that
would end with only 1.7 percent of the American population being of full native American decent.
Wade Davis goes even further in a view of ethnocentrism for the world. He skips past the well known
stories and express new knowledge of stories never heard before to many Western society cultures. We
all know of Hitler and his terror of exterminating six million Jews in the holocaust, but what about Pol
pot and his extermination of three million people in an attempt to push a better society forward.
Or that islands of the Kula ring are able to maintain life and relationships based off of constant trade,
even though each island is a culture of its own, with its own language, and rituals it

President s party does not have a majority of the seats in both chambers of parliament. The PSOE,

The government is a minority government since neither of the parties has more than 50 percent of the

landslide win for the PSOE. During previous years, it was always the Popular Party, the conservatives,

The Problem Of Water Privatization
Water privatization, the sale and transportation of water supplies to private companies, is becoming
more commonly used and is affecting several populations in negative ways. Jeneen Interlandi, an
author of World Watch Magazine, claims that private companies will not be able to manage water
supplies in an efficient manner and should sale and management of the world s water supplies to state
and local governments (Interlandi). I believe that water privatization should indeed be put to an end
because it is causing water prices to up and become less affordable, completely cutting off water
access to several communities, and brings contamination and diseases to villages and the environment.

Bolivian citizens revolted into a violent protest that ended the water contract. Similar situations are
still happening around the world today. The construction that goes into digging and reaching fresh
water supplies is expensive, so China has become open to foreign investments and has raised water
rates to more than the public can afford to pay for, despite water being a necessity (Interladi). If not
protesting, citizens simply skip buying water or cut down on how much of it they buy immensely
because they cannot afford the high rates (Runyan). My point is that charging consumers more than
they can afford for a necessity does not guarantee profit. Private companies and investors assume the
consumers have to buy a necessity like water, so they immorally take advantage and force some
families to choose between water and other necessities. After paying more than they can for so long,
consumers will simply stop buying and many will even revolt. So far, private companies main targets
have been developing and poor countries since they could use the financial support to gain funds and
improve their infrastructures and communities. According to Erica Gies, Developing countries are
often pushed into water privatization deals against their will because they need loans from
international development agencies. (Gies). Countries with already developed infrastructures like the

Bruce Braley Commercial Analysis Essay
The claim in the commercial for Bruce Braley is that Bruce Braley wants to help the people of Iowa.
Throughout the commercial Braley uses a combination of ethos, logos, and pathos to get people to
vote for him. Coupled with the use of the video, audio, and text track he provides a commercial that
provokes the audience to think of Braley as the guy to help Iowa. The first track we hear being used is
the audio track. To start off they say his father died and it was the most difficult time in his life. Than
they go on to talk about it was Bruce s mom, Marcia, that helped get him back on his feet and
convinced him to follow his dream. Although this does represent Braley s perseverance through tough

The word Braley whether used in a name or elsewhere is constantly present on the screen. He uses his
name Bruce Braley as well as his website brucebrayle.com as a way to advertise himself. At the time
of this commercial being aired many people might not know who he is, so as a way to become more
known he is trying to get his name out there as much as possible. He also puts his mom s name Marcia

his mom, Marcia Braley. The reason this connection is helpful is because it makes him seem more like
his mother who, in the commercial, is displayed as a strong kind woman. This connection implies that
Bruce Braley might also have these same traits as he is her own son. Finally at the end of the video we
see an outline of the state of Iowa with the name Bruce Braley For U.S. Senate . This use of the visual

The Second Red Scare Essay
The Second Red Scare
The McCarthy era, which generally spanned from 1947 to 1957, brought to the forefront of American
politics the question of civil rights. At issue were controversies about both First Amendment rights to
assembly and free speech and Fifth Amendment rights to due process and freedom from self
incrimination. Anti Communist actions often involved restrictions on these rights, and heading the anti
Communist movement was the House Committee on Un American Activities (HUAC). This
committee, which consisted of government officials from Congress, was formed to investigate the
threat of Communism in America. In doing so, the committee brought in witnesses, usually
individuals thought to have, or to have had, Communist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It violated, however, the civil rights necessary for democracy. While the ACLU proposed to protect
civil rights no matter the cause, it refused at times to extend those civil rights to Communists or
Communist sympathizers on the grounds that Communists sought to suppress civil rights. Thus,
although the ACLU and HUAC are generally perceived as diametrically opposed groups, the
ambivalence of both groups makes it difficult to paint the former as the archetypal protector of civil
rights and the latter as the archetypal suppressor of civil rights.
While HUAC s actions were not laudable, it paradoxically had the best interests of the American
public in mind, including protecting American civil rights. Insofar as Communism seemed to threaten
the American way of life, HUAC s attempts to root out Communists reflected a concern for American
civil rights. The authoritarian nature of the Communist Party, as described by some, seems to support
the idea of a Communist threat to American ideals. As a friendly witness before HUAC, for example,
former Communist Party member Elia Kazan confessed that he left the party because I had enough
regimentation, enough of being told what to think and say and do, enough of their habitual violation of
the daily practices of democracy to which I was accustomed (406). In his testimony, Kazan portrays
the Communist party as a suppressor of civil rights ( daily practices, such as the right to think

Patient Care And The Medical Field
Patient care is one of the most important aspects of the medical field; it is also something that is
sometimes forgotten about. During my first few weeks of clinical I really started to understand why
patient care was something that we needed to know. In the beginning of my first term when I was
taking Patient Care everything that we were being taught seemed like common sense; keep the patient
warm, make sure they are comfortable, try to do the procedure accommodating to them, but as I went
out into the field those little extra efforts seemed to not be important. My first day opened my eyes to
how some medical professionals took care of their patients. As I was walking through the doors of the
radiology department, I was taking in the atmosphere. Everyone had a purpose and was moving
around like they were on a mission. The first patient I helped with was a man who was going in for
CT. This patient had had a history of being on illegal drugs and came into the ER a lot for pain
relievers. The technologists were not happy that this patient was back and was complaining of his
shoulder/clavicle area being hurt. I went down to the ER to get the patient with a technologist and as
they were talking to a nurse about this patient there was eye rolling and huffing from the both of them.
As we were placing him on the table the technologist was very rough with him, he was half crying

I was not really into reading at the time, but I remember that my teacher made us read for at least
fifteen minutes at the beginning of every class. If we did not have a book there were many books from

chose this book in particular because it stood out. I mean the title itself already piqued my interest. I
honestly did not think that I was going to enjoy it as much as I did, It was such a bizarre read with all
the strange events and abnormal characters. And in a weird way, the strangeness of the story was what
I really liked. I do not think I would have liked it as much if it was not for that. It was one of the first

that really got me into loving to read. I just loved getting lost in another world and I wanted to keep
reading books that did that for me. When I read A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings, by Gabriel
García Márquez I was reminded of the time I discovered that I needed glasses. In the story, towards
the end, there is a part where the old man becomes extremely weak that they thought he could die. It
also mentions that his eyes became foggy and he starts bumping into things because he obviously can
not see. This part of the story brings up the memory of me realizing that I

Introduction Having the privilege to serve in the military has allowed this writer the opportunity to be
exposed to the pluralistic society in a way which has exposed him to the beauty of the diversity
enjoyed in American culture. One aspect of said diversity is the interaction which has taken place
amongst the Christian and various world religions who also wear the same uniform in defense of
America. It was the pleasure of the writer to attend a local synagogue in which his Jewish brothers and
sisters welcomed him with open arms. The local congregation of Jewish believers went out of their
way in order to ensure their newest visitor understood the flow of service and the significance of the
ritual which took place on the first Shabbat or Sabbath of the month. The following essay will serve to
detail the worship experience as well as how it and other beliefs of Judaism compare/contrast with the
Christian faith.
Worship Experience The writer did not have any personal Jewish associates in order to interview so it
was incumbent upon to seek out a local congregation which would welcome him and his

Executive Summary
This report was to investigate how the Nokia Corporation has been innovative since it was originally
founded as Nokia AB in 1865. This report also looks into what Nokia has done to be considered
innovative, how that innovation has paid off and what challenges the company faces now, and in the
future.
The main findings were that Nokia has been very innovative politically, strategically and through new
creations. The main focus of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The new company was involved in many industries, producing at one time or another paper products,
car and bicycle tires, footwear (including rubber boots), communications cables, televisions and other
consumer electronics, personal computers, electricity generation machinery, robotics, capacitors,
military communications and equipment (such as the SANLA M/90 device and the M61 gas mask for
the Finnish Army), plastics, aluminium and chemicals. Each section of the business had its own
Director who reported to the President of the corporation Bjorn Westerlund. Westerlund was
responsible for Nokia first going into telecommunications. Over the next twenty years Nokia dabbled
in telecommunications but in 1990, Nokia left everything else behind to focus on telecommunications,
selling off the other sections of the corporation.
Nokia Corporation has grown from a small mill in Finland to being listed as the 14th most valuable
global brand in the Interbrand/BusinessWeek Best Global Brands list of 2011. The way this company
has grown is through a series of innovations which we will look at in this report.
Why is Nokia Innovative?
From the 1970s Nokia has been working within the telecommunications industry. In 1979, Nokia
formed the radio telephone company Mobira Oy (Mobira Ltd) alongside Finnish television
manufacturer Salora. This helped put the company in

the claim goes to the A/R department for collection of payment from the patient, if you do not have
accurate contact information, the claim could be unpaid for an indefinite amount of time. By verifying
the patient s information, the entire process of service, coding, and billing has a foundation to submit

The Plague of Athens Essay
The plague of Athens
The Athenian plague was an epidemic that began in the summer of 430 B.C. in Athens a year after the
Peloponnesian war in 431 B.C. It was supposed that the plague was a result of excess number of
Athenians within the city walls also known as the long walls a military strategy by Pericles which
consisted of building walls that connected the city to its port . The surplus of Athenians led to a
shortage of food, water, an absence of sewage systems, and other important factors were said to have
brought about the plague. It first appeared in the south of Egypt, Ethiopia, Libya, and later on in the
Persian Empire, and Rome before arriving in Athens . The disease attacked the population of Piraeus
and then travelled to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It left the population time to live in crime as they awaited death. The once valued Athenian morals
also ceased to existed in that period. The population did not bother to accomplish any of the morally
accepted laws. Meaning that since no one would ever be there to acknowledge it or they could ever
gain benefits for it, it was normal for some not to complete any. For them, it was considered a waste of
time to be morally just because they all would perish. The epidemic left the Athenians incapable of
caring for their families who were infected. In Thucydides eyes, the most immoral act of all was the
fact that they were left to die by loved ones. The plague was highly contagious; the infected showed
signs of ineffectual retching followed, producing violent spasms, [...]externally the body was not very
hot to the touch, nor pale in its appearance, but reddish, livid, and [breaking] out into small pustules
and ulcers. But internally it burned so that the patient could not bear to have on him clothing [...] . Due
to their symptoms, family members forgot all about their traditionnal obligations and abandoned their
families and friends. They basically abandoned all of there loved ones since they were potential threats
to their lives. Hence, they could only survive if they had no contact with their loved ones or friends.
The dead and infected were therefore voluntarily neglected by their families. Consequently, the bodies

The Change in Resistance of a Carbon Paper
The Change in Resistance of a Carbon Paper
Introduction
The aim of this experiment is to see how the resistance of a carbon coated piece of paper changes
when the different variables change.
Variables
A variable is a change in an experiment that could alter the outcome/results of that experiment, and for
this experiment the main variables are type of paper, width of paper, length of paper, and temperature.
We are going to be studying how changing the width of the paper affects the resistance, and so to
ensure a fair test we will have to keep all of the other variables constant, as if they were also changing
the results could be affected and the experiment would not be of any ... Show more content on

Preliminary Experiment
The purpose of the preliminary experiment was to decide on an appropriate length to keep the paper
constant at, and an appropriate shunt for the ammeter. The layout and format is the same as the main
experiment (see later).
We tested the various ammeter shunts, and decided to use the 10mA shunt, as it gave a reading in the
middle of the scale, whereas the other shunts had given readings off or almost off the scale.
We also found that 32.5cm was the optimum length for the paper, as it puts the reading at about 10 on
the scale, which is a good as it ensures that as we decrease the width (hence decreasing the amperes),
the readomg will not go off the scale as it was high to start with if we had started with a length that put
it at something lower like 3 to start with, it could have gone off the bottom of the scale and we would
have to start over.

What Is The Theme Of The Godfather
Produced by Albert S. Ruddy, and directed by Francis Coppola, The film God Father is regarded one
the greatest movie in history. It is based on Mario Puzo s novel The God Father . Some of the actors
starring in the movie include Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James Caan, Richard Conte among others.
The theme of violence is evident all through the film. The story of The Godfather is told with a closed
world, it gives the audience a chance to review the Mafia utterly on its own terms. Character Don Vito
Corleone played by Marlon Brando, is seen as a sympathetic and admirable character. As all through
the film, he does everything that is expected from a mafia, which receives approval from the audience.
In the movie, there is no civilian causality of an organized crime, only corrupt police.
The story reviews the mafia life from the inside, and as expected by the audience such life is secretive,
addictive in a way. The story has shaped the public perception on the mafia. In the film the Godfather
takes control of power and justice, his only nemeses are traitors and snitches. For instance, Michael
played by Al Pacino says that one should never side against the family. In another incident, Don Vito

police. Moreover, in the film loyalty is the key, Michael does not even trust Tom Hagen played by

Chinese Rejection Movement
From the 1850s, political agitation and financial weights at home provoked many Chinese settlers to
move toward the western areas of the United States looking for transitory work. Many took low paid
employments as unskilled workers in mining, development, horticulture, assembling, or
administration ventures. The 1890 decennial census reports a Chinese conceived inhabitant populace
surpassing 100,000; records demonstrate that almost 300,000 Chinese workers entered the United
States in the vicinity of 1850 and 1889, however antiquarians evaluate that the same number of as half
at last came back to China. This influx of Chinese movement was joined by developing hostility to
Chinese Migrants causing ethnic segregation, in the U.S. Congress passed the Chinese Rejection Act
in 1882 which restricted Chinese work relocation to the United States and banned Chinese inhabitants
from getting U.S. citizenship. In spite of the fact that the law was canceled in 1943, minimal Chinese

Impacts of Climate Change on Australia Alps’ Ski Industry
The changing nature of snow cover as a result of alpine climate change is a modern phenomenon that
climate scientists are beginning to understand. Declining snow depth and duration have serious
implications for Australia s ski industry, in particular the longevity of the industry. This essay
discusses the impacts of alpine climate change on snow cover, adaption strategies to sustain the
industry s economy as well as the unsustainable nature of snowmaking as a long term solution.
Limitations on water and energy resource make snowmaking problematic as a substitute for natural
snow. The essay highlights the unsustainability of snowmaking as a short term solution, and raises
concerns of the longevity of the ski industry.
Currently, the Australian ski industry comprises of ten operational ski resorts (Figure 1) with 0.15% of
the continent (Green and Pickering 2009, p. 271) regularly receiving snow due to the low attitude of
mountains. Consequently, decline in snow cover on top of limited snow availability pose significant
difficulties to the longevity of the ski industry.
Effects of Climate Change Impact on ski industry Possible solutions
Decreased snow cover ↓ snow depth and duration ↑ snowmaking to substitute natural with artificial
snow
Temperature ↓ snow cover cascading cycle
Biodiversity vegetation Affects winter summer tourism Opportunity for summer tourism
Water scarcity ↓ efficiency of snowmaking;
↑ cost and competition Use summer tourism to balance the

Essay on The Importance of Learning to Write Proficiently
You have been writing ever since you learned your first letters. From writing a sentence in first grade
to five page essays your senior year. It feels like your pen has never left the paper, and the reality of it
is, is that it will not be leaving anytime soon. Most occupations will require you to write whether it be
an expense report or an e mail, ergo, it would be in your best interest to be knowledgable of how to
write well and all the rules that come along with that. Writing is and always will be important because
you will always be writing, regardless of if you enjoy to or not. With that being said, here are some
key writing rules one should know about: punctuation, run on sentences, spelling, tense, and audience.
These rules will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Without punctuation a sentence may say, Do you want to eat Dad? What you actually meant was, Do
you want to eat, Dad? Without the comma the subject was eating the father, but with the comma the
subject was asking the father a question. Both sentences had the same words, yet that small mark of
punctuation made all the difference. Along with punctuation comes run on sentences. Without
punctuation the reader would not know when to pause and would just keep reading. Punctuation is key
when avoiding that deep, dark path of run on sentences. Run on sentences are extremely
unprofessional and confuse the reader. If you feel that your sentence may be too long, just add a
comma where appropriate, or just turn the sentence into two sentences. Furthermore, another
significant writing rule is spelling. If you turn in a resume with something misspelled, you might as
well forget any chance you ever had getting that job. Spelling is such an easy rule to check for, yet it s
one of the most common mistakes one will make. Spelling only takes a few minutes to check,
especially with programs such as spell check on Microsoft Word. Another way to check for spelling
would be to just actually read over what you just wrote. It may seem tedious, but that extra five
minutes could save you from such a preventable mistake. To continue, tense is another valuable rule to
keep in mind when writing. It is preferred that you use present tense whenever possible and you must
not change your

The Art Scene in New York City in the 60 s and Early 70s
Reflection circa 1973 was, grinding away best, an unobtrusively venturesome redesign on prior
models. A significant part of the new painting seen in Manhattan doesn t climb so high. It s generally a
gifted however doomed repeat. Four decades back, execution workmanship was an option to painting.
It was offbeat and clunky, past innovation, or perhaps unreasonably underneath it, intended to reflect a
world in which materials were transient, models pointless, values tricky. A ton of late execution
workmanship in New York, especially that in the biennial celebration Performa, has had very nearly
the inverse properties: It s cleaned, bundled, pricey, storehouse primed.
Then, we can set out over to the execution art s beginnings in a sketchy yet engrossing archival
presentation, Customs of Rented Island: Object Theater, Loft Performance, and the New Psychodrama
Manhattan, 1970 1980 at the Whitney Museum of American Art.
New York City in the early 1970s was a wreck: bankrupt, or everything except, and going into
disrepair. One focal point to specialists was the accessibility of shoddy, void space, prominently in the
Lower Manhattan mechanical locale that came to be called Soho. An alternate was that, with the
workmanship showcase in the pits after the 1960s blast, there was a nothing to lose opportunity to
investigation.
Onto the scene came craftsmen who were as intrigued by dialect, theater, move, music, social work,
TV, help and stand up comic drama as they were in

Gwendolyn Brook And Kwame Dawess Analysis
The African American Struggle Through Contemporary Poetry Ai, Gwendolyn Brooks, and Kwame
Dawes are all contemporary African American poets. Their works often focused on different aspects
of the post civil rights movement in the African American community. Ai was known for writing
poetry on hard subjects. She was also known for writing poems that were graphic. Being multiracial,(
1/2 Japanese, 1/8 Choctaw, 1/4 Black, and 1/16 Irish), many of her poems were based on the
complexity of identity ( qtd. in Ai, a Steadfast Poetic Channel of Hard Lives, Dies at 62 ). On the other
hand, Kwame Dawes is a Nigerian born man of Jamaican descent. Gwendolyn Brooks was an African
American woman whose adult years were spent during the civil rights movement. Tornado Child is a
poem written by Kwame Dawes in 2002. It celebrates different aspects of black womanhood. In
contrast, Gwendolyn Brook s We Real Cool is written in the sixties and talks about the negative
aspects of stereotypes. The Kid by Ai is graphic and depicts violence. All of the poems demonstrate
different struggles that are faced by the African American community. This essay will specifically
examine the African American struggle through the lens of misogynoir, stereotypes, and the
destruction of black families. The first poem, Tornado Child by Kwame Dawes, explores the African
American struggle through misogynoir. Dictionary.com describes misogynoir as the specific hatred,
dislike, distrust, and prejudice

Problems Caused By Overpopulation Is The Rise Of A Place...
Problems Caused by Overpopulation in Cities
Overpopulation is The condition of a place populated with excessively large numbers . It is considered
a problem in many senses, since it causes a number of issues for various different reasons.
One major issue caused by overpopulation is the rise of unemployment. This is when people actively
seeking employment or just people that are able to work remain unemployed. Overpopulation causes
this because the amount of jobs available would be the same as before the city became overpopulated,
meaning that there wouldn t be enough jobs for the amount of people needing one. With more
unemployed people come many obstacles and problems, not only for the people this affects, but for
the whole economy and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This would cause many companies to have lost business. Furthermore, this could even result in more
unemployment, because the companies may be forced to make cutbacks of their own within their staff
or branches (if it was a shop).
From all this evidence, we can see that unemployment is a major issue, and affects many people. A
large amount of unemployed people are in that condition due to overpopulation, proving that
overpopulation is the cause of a significant problem.
A second problem caused by overpopulation is the degradation of the environment. With oil, water
and natural gases being overused, it starts having severe effects on the environment. There are many
negative consequences that we may have to face related to this, the cause of them being
overpopulation.
There are three main types of environmental degradation. The first type is air. Air pollution is one of
the bigger issues within this category. Not only does it damage the air, it is also a hazard to human and
animal health. Particles from the pollution can easily lodge themselves into lungs, and cause many
problems in the body.
Another type of environmental degradation of air is the depletion of the ozone layer. If the ozone layer
is damaged, lots of ultra violet rays from the sun will be able to reach the Earth s surface. Excessive
amounts of ultra violet radiation could cause numerous problems for human health including skin and
eyesight

Reproduction In The Trail Of Life
Reproduction is critical when ensuring the survival of a species. As was mentioned in The Trails of
Life, an organism s main goal is to ensure that they pass along their genes to future generations. As it
is, the process of reproduction is a costly and sometimes dangerous feat. Nature provides a plethora of
issues that need to be overcome before an individual can successfully reproduce. Difficulties can, and
often do, arise in nearly every stage of reproduction. Organisms may have to battle inauspicious
environmental conditions, lack of resources, or physiological shortcomings, to name a few of the
nearly inexhaustive list of issues surrounding reproduction. Although problems with reproduction
exist, nature has evolved responses to cope with specific issues, allotting organisms with methods ...

In most cases species tend to reproduce under polygynous conditions where one male mates with
many females. An interesting example of a polygynous system in nature can be seen in the sea louse.
A male releases chemicals that attracts females, and as the females approach the male s nesting site, he
collects them and lines them in a row until he senses they are ready to mate. More mates equate to
more offspring, hence, this method for reproduction ensures that the male will pass his genes
throughout a population.
The most straight forward example of a rare monogamous mating relationship is often granted to
humans; however, in terms of other animal species, the albatross is a great example of this mating
system. Albatrosses mate for life, which is impressive being that many will live to be several decades
old. The albatrosses work together in raising their offspring. While one parent searches for food, the
other will remain with the chick often times undergoing near starvation in order to ensure the chick is

Describe The Functions Of TREM-1
TREMs (trigger receptor expressed on myeloid cells) are a family of pattern recognition receptors, or
PRRs, which are cell surface activating receptors. TREM 1, belonging to the immunoglobulin
superfamily, activates neutrophils, monocytes, macrophages, etc. by singling through an adaptor
protein known as DAP12. Through the DAP12 pathway, TREM 1 regulates the function of myeloid
cells in both innate and adaptive responses, amplifies toll like receptor (TLR) initiated responses, and
increases the secretion of pro inflammatory chemokines and cytokines in response to infections.
TREM 1 is typically a membrane bound protein, consisting of an extracellular immunoglobulin
domain, a transmembrane section, and a cytoplasmic tail used to transmit ... Show more content on

Schenk, Bouchon, Seibold, and Mueller hypothesized that patients with active irritable bowel diseases
have upregulated TREM 1 expression on intestinal macrophages, which could contribute to excessive
inflammation and tissue destruction. Through analysis of mice induced with IBD, they found that
there was a five fold increase in frequency of TREM 1 expressing macrophages. Expanding on the
idea of TREM 1 s association with pathology, Schenk, et al, explored the extent of TREM 1
expression in relation to the severity of IBD. While IBD remained in remission, TREM 1 mRNA was
nearly undetectable through PCR, but 3 5 days after inducing the pathology, the mRNA was highly
upregulated. This proves that the TREM 1 expression is directly correlated with the increase of
inflammatory responses.
TREM 1 in irritable bowel disease was investigated from another prospective by Weber, Schuster, et
al, in their study of the effect of TREM 1 deficiency in attenuating IBD. Using both TREM 1 / (by
deletion of exon 2) and TREM 1 +/+ in control and induced IBD mice models, they analyzed tissue
samples for inflammation effects. By removing active TREM 1, inflammation was significantly
decreased. It is important to note that in the healthy control mice, there was no impact in the
phenotype. This proves that although the inflammation was not causing the side effects of IBD,

  • 2. APA Format Essay APA Format As for me, I am more a free spirited person. I don t look for religion to be in public schools. Religion is more towards private schools. In the video, it talks about religion, copyrighted laws, teacher liability, and child abuse. While watching this video, I don t think any of this will affect me when it comes to teaching. I agree as a teacher it is your responsibility when the kids are under your supervision. When a child gets hurt, you are the one to get the blame because those kids are your responsibility. I think it s best for a teacher to help those students who are being attacked. You are legally responsible for the safety of children under your supervision. As for a future teacher, I would have to disagree with the school s administrators on religion being in public schools. When I teach my students, I would only teach them to learn and know the truth. I m not religious; everyone has a different religion. I would teach my students the truth and what I believe they should be aware not based on what they need to know from a biblical perspective. I m all for a school to teach religious freedom and acceptance of all religious beliefs, but teach religion in public school is not acceptable. If this was a Christian school or Islamic school, that is an entirely normal thing to teach religion. I don t believe that public schools should oppress kids with religion. Especially children that don t understand the religion and conform just because others show their belief. Everyone should have the choice. Private schools, on the other hand, it is up to the school. Agree or disagree doesn t matter to me. I think it s okay to teach about other religions, but not necessarily to prepare them to become part of the faith. Like if they want to do more research and become a member of that faith, cool, I don t want to force them one way or another. But I still think it s an important part of history, and an important step in breeding tolerance, to make students aware of the basics and their options I guess. Teach about it, not for it if that makes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Critical Concern Of Immigration For this project I tackled the critical concern of immigration. Immigration has been a concern of the sisters for a while now and I wanted to learn more about what has been happening behind the scenes to help those who are brought into this country illegally. The topic I focused on the most was how migrant workers in Maine are treated and how they are being paid and if there is housing provided for the worker while they are here working. I wanted to mainly focus on the blueberry harvesting industries in Maine mostly because I live next to four of them and see these workers every summer rake blueberries on hot summer days. I wanted to research and find out how much these workers make, where and if they are housed, and how they deal with these hot summer conditions. While I was creating this project I learned a lot about the blueberry harvesting industry that I didn t know. According to the Bangor Daily News that of 2013 the Department of Labor is trying to improve the benefits for migrant workers as well as living conditions and any federal support that is offered. Every blueberry field owner is required to offer free housing to their workers while they are there raking and the benefits they are trying to improve include food stamps, child care, health care, and legal aid. Improving these benefits will draw more labor migrants into the work force. Those applying for these benefits have to go through government organization agencies where the workers are temporarily housed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. What Is SDN Controller The SDN layer essentially acts a virtual software switch or router in place of (or in conjunction with) the physical network devices. Software from outside the devices takes over the job, instead of software embedded in the routers and switches managing the traffic. The network layout, or topography, is no longer rooted in the physical. Instead, it s flexible and adjustable to the systems needs on the fly. SDN promises to solve both cost of labor performing manual maintenance and administrative tasks in one single blow to the status quo. Traffic engineering problem for SDN controller is to route the traffic in such a way that the delay and packet loss at link are minimized. In existing scenario SDN controllers are deployed incrementally. In proposed system SDN controllers are deployed in tree like structure such that lower level controller is controlled by upper level controller so that all the network is controlled by single SDN controller centrally. Making possible to centralized control over the global view of network with improved architecture will be considered. Keywords Mininet, OpenFlow, Software Defined Networking , SDN Controller. I. • 7. Misconstrued Time in Ferdi Riskiyanto´s Advertisment Time has overtaken the minds of society today in a multitude of ways. Daily tasks such as visiting family members, attending meetings, and paying bills all incorporate the substantial importance in tracking every second of a person s life. In addition to scheduling, time is often denoted as a system of counting down until an indefinite end occurs. In an advertisement by Ferdi Rizkiyanto, a digital artist, an hourglass is used to represent time before the fate of humans concludes due to global warming. Within the hourglass, sand has been replaced by the water of melting icebergs, and the droplets trickle into the lower level containing the homes of modern day society. The global warming hourglass ad attempts to emphasize the importance of immediately solving earth s impending environmental problems by appealing to the emotions of fear and pity, but the awaiting disaster used in the visual is ineffective because it will not occur during the audience s lifetime. In this advertisement by Ferdi, the world is placed within the lower chamber of an hourglass. All of society continues to follow their daily routines, and nothing seems out of the ordinary. However, far above their heads, the polar ices caps are slowly melting. Many artic animals lose their homes and become stranded due to this issue. • 9. Two Different Philosophical Views in Grendel and Beowulf... Beowulf and Grendel are two tales similar in many ways, yet different from each other. These stories are like a coin; you cannot have one side without the other. Just as the sides of a coin share the same coin, these stories share a similar plot, a setting, and tell of the same events. The sides of a coin also have differences as do Beowulf and Grendel. In the case of these two tales this difference is in their respective philosophical views. Beowulf portrays the philosophical views of life that many people still regard today. Those views helped to shape and define the ideal Dane in their culture. For example, the traits looked for among the Danes were honesty, bravery, and humility. These three requirements in the Danes were but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He became upset as he saw that he couldn t deter their spirits no matter what he did and started to feel jealous of their self found purpose. He realized that through various ways the people attained meaning. In response to his confusion over their self discovered purpose, Grendel started listening to the Shaper s words when he spoke to the people shaping their very beliefs which confused Grendel even more on the meaning of life. After listening to the Shaper for a while, readers can see Grendel in a state of contradiction. He started off killing people as a simple, bestial monstrosity but in the end he is shown as quite intelligent and capable of choosing whether to kill or not. Soon, Grendel started seeking answers to his questions from a dragon. The dragon s very philosophy on life was that there is no meaning of life which started to influence Grendel. Regenerative Brayton Cycle Analysis MAE 336 (Power Plant Design) Design Project 1: Regenerative Brayton Cycle Date Submitted: 4/02/2012 Garrett Kinsel ID#: 003800821 Mon/Wed 9:00am 11:15am Instructor: Dr. Torabzadeh, Ph.D. ABSTRACT The purpose of this design project was to investigate the effect of various design and operating parameters on the thermal efficiency, net work output per unit mass, and back work ratio of a regenerative Brayton cycle. Specifically, these parameters include the pressure ratio, TminTmax ratio, regenerator effectiveness, and compressor and turbine efficiencies, assuming the working fluid to be air at 100kPa and 300K at the compressor inlet. Model calculations are presented ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to their low overall thermal efficiencies, gas turbines initially had limited uses. As time has passed, many renovations have been implemented to the gas turbine cycle to make it more efficient. Some modifications include: increasing the turbine inlet temperatures, increasing the efficiencies of turbo machinery components, and adding modifications to the basic cycle. In contrast to the ideal cycle, the actual cycle undergoes unavoidable pressure drops during the heat addition and heat rejection processes. In addition, the actual work input to the compressor is always more than the output and the actual work output of the turbine is less than the work input due to irreversibility. These relationships are displayed in the figures below: Four other common modifications to the simple ideal and actual Brayton cycles include: 1) Regeneration 2) Reheat 3) Intercooling 4) Regeneration with Reheat and Intercooling The only methods amongst these choices that improve the overall thermal efficiency of the ideal Brayton cycle are those that utilize regeneration. However, each of these four improvements also increase the initial cost of building the equipment as well as the maintenance cost for the cycle. Thus,

  • 12. The World Is Not A New Way Of Thinking Essay The world can only appear monochromatic to those who persist in interpreting what they experience through the lens of a single cultural paradigm, their own (Davis 6). Growing up in a twenty first century western culture society has created an ethnocentrism view of the cultures that created the world into what it is today. This thought of western society as being ethnocentric is not a new way of thinking. In fact, the world has been practicing the act of viewing one s own culture as superior to that of another for hundreds of centuries, if not even longer. We raise our children on stories of ethnocentrism, maybe not the far extreme views and acts of it, but the idea that the first Americans came to the new world and ate with the native tribes, which would only be the first act of a ballad that would end with only 1.7 percent of the American population being of full native American decent. Wade Davis goes even further in a view of ethnocentrism for the world. He skips past the well known stories and express new knowledge of stories never heard before to many Western society cultures. We all know of Hitler and his terror of exterminating six million Jews in the holocaust, but what about Pol pot and his extermination of three million people in an attempt to push a better society forward. Or that islands of the Kula ring are able to maintain life and relationships based off of constant trade, even though each island is a culture of its own, with its own language, and rituals it ... If not protesting, citizens simply skip buying water or cut down on how much of it they buy immensely because they cannot afford the high rates (Runyan). My point is that charging consumers more than they can afford for a necessity does not guarantee profit. Private companies and investors assume the consumers have to buy a necessity like water, so they immorally take advantage and force some families to choose between water and other necessities. After paying more than they can for so long, consumers will simply stop buying and many will even revolt. At issue were controversies about both First Amendment rights to assembly and free speech and Fifth Amendment rights to due process and freedom from self incrimination. Anti Communist actions often involved restrictions on these rights, and heading the anti Communist movement was the House Committee on Un American Activities (HUAC). It violated, however, the civil rights necessary for democracy. While the ACLU proposed to protect civil rights no matter the cause, it refused at times to extend those civil rights to Communists or Communist sympathizers on the grounds that Communists sought to suppress civil rights. Thus, although the ACLU and HUAC are generally perceived as diametrically opposed groups, the ambivalence of both groups makes it difficult to paint the former as the archetypal protector of civil rights and the latter as the archetypal suppressor of civil rights. While HUAC s actions were not laudable, it paradoxically had the best interests of the American public in mind, including protecting American civil rights. Insofar as Communism seemed to threaten the American way of life, HUAC s attempts to root out Communists reflected a concern for American civil rights. The authoritarian nature of the Communist Party, as described by some, seems to support the idea of a Communist threat to American ideals. As a friendly witness before HUAC, for example, former Communist Party member Elia Kazan confessed that he left the party because I had enough regimentation, enough of being told what to think and say and do, enough of their habitual violation of the daily practices of democracy to which I was accustomed (406). • 19. Patient Care And The Medical Field Patient care is one of the most important aspects of the medical field; it is also something that is sometimes forgotten about. During my first few weeks of clinical I really started to understand why patient care was something that we needed to know. In the beginning of my first term when I was taking Patient Care everything that we were being taught seemed like common sense; keep the patient warm, make sure they are comfortable, try to do the procedure accommodating to them, but as I went out into the field those little extra efforts seemed to not be important. My first day opened my eyes to how some medical professionals took care of their patients. As I was walking through the doors of the radiology department, I was taking in the atmosphere. Everyone had a purpose and was moving around like they were on a mission. The first patient I helped with was a man who was going in for CT. This patient had had a history of being on illegal drugs and came into the ER a lot for pain relievers. The technologists were not happy that this patient was back and was complaining of his shoulder/clavicle area being hurt. I went down to the ER to get the patient with a technologist and as they were talking to a nurse about this patient there was eye rolling and huffing from the both of them. As we were placing him on the table the technologist was very rough with him, he was half crying telling this technologist to being easy on this arm. I honestly did not think that I was going to enjoy it as much as I did, It was such a bizarre read with all the strange events and abnormal characters. Without punctuation the reader would not know when to pause and would just keep reading. Punctuation is key when avoiding that deep, dark path of run on sentences. Run on sentences are extremely unprofessional and confuse the reader. If you feel that your sentence may be too long, just add a comma where appropriate, or just turn the sentence into two sentences. TREM 1, belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily, activates neutrophils, monocytes, macrophages, etc. by singling through an adaptor protein known as DAP12. Through the DAP12 pathway, TREM 1 regulates the function of myeloid cells in both innate and adaptive responses, amplifies toll like receptor (TLR) initiated responses, and increases the secretion of pro inflammatory chemokines and cytokines in response to infections. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Schenk, Bouchon, Seibold, and Mueller hypothesized that patients with active irritable bowel diseases have upregulated TREM 1 expression on intestinal macrophages, which could contribute to excessive inflammation and tissue destruction. Through analysis of mice induced with IBD, they found that there was a five fold increase in frequency of TREM 1 expressing macrophages. Expanding on the idea of TREM 1 s association with pathology, Schenk, et al, explored the extent of TREM 1 expression in relation to the severity of IBD. While IBD remained in remission, TREM 1 mRNA was nearly undetectable through PCR, but 3 5 days after inducing the pathology, the mRNA was highly upregulated. This proves that the TREM 1 expression is directly correlated with the increase of inflammatory responses. TREM 1 in irritable bowel disease was investigated from another prospective by Weber, Schuster, et al, in their study of the effect of TREM 1 deficiency in attenuating IBD. Using both TREM 1 / (by deletion of exon 2) and TREM 1 +/+ in control and induced IBD mice models, they analyzed tissue samples for inflammation effects.
