The Theory Of The Australian Human Resource Institute
Executive summary
Through the need of a change within the management of the Australian Human Resource institute this
report has outlined efficient ways in improving the success rate of the Australian manufacturing
sectors. However, in discovering the right way to dealt the management different theories have been
looked upon. The classical 1909 theory was proposed by Frederick Winslow Taylor, which explained
that improving management is based on the efficiency and productivity of the employees. This is
deemed in Taylor believing that all workers were motivated by the external reward. That being money,
so he promoted the idea of a fair day s pay for a fair day s work. In context meaning, if a worker didn t
achieve enough in a day, he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was more commonly referred to as Maslow s hierarchy of needs . He explains that motivation
starts when an individual experiences a need and the individual then creates a goal, which, upon
achievement, will satisfy the need a behavioral approach can be criticized through Introduction
Through this report it sets out to target the Australian Human Resource institute (AHRI) in providing a
means to their being an improvement within the Australian manufacturing sector. Through the year
that has passed the Australian manufacturing sector has undergone a large amount financial pressure
resulting in there being a sufficient amount of staff layoffs and even to the point of closing operations
within Australia. With the aim of the report being able to reach a means to stopping the continual drop
and deficiencies within the sector, it has been established that through critically analyzing the separate
management theories of classical and behavioral theories while providing the AHRI with
recommendations of improvement within managing employees efficiently, As well as managing the
business itself to act efficiently as well as effective. Through comparing the Classical theory of
Frederick Winslow Taylor in comparison to the Behavioural theory of Maslow and evidence of the
Hawthorn studies the report will result in the most effective

Essay on Analysis of Marie Kashpaw in the Film Saint Marie
Marie Kashpaw/Lazarre transitions successfully from not knowing who she is to being proud of who
she has become. She is able to come out of bad experiences and use them to improve and guide her.
She learns from her mistakes is able to look at her own flaws which help her grow as a person. She is
not too ashamed to be able to say that she was naive, ignorant, or made the wrong decision. She thinks
before she acts with a plan in mind.
In Saint Marie (1934) Marie is only fourteen years old and is trying to find her identity and sense of
importance. Even though she is half native american and half white, she doesn t feel like she is fully
accepted into either community. In order to find her calling, she believes she can prove herself good ...

A big part of the reason Leopolda saw Marie as different proved to be that Marie was part Native
American which meant that Satan had a stronger presence in her than the other white children. In
many ways Marie Lazzare proves herself to be heroic throughout both stories Saint Marie and Flesh
and Blood (1957). Even though she is only fourteen in Saint Marie she successfully escaped a
dangerous situation with a mixture of luck and intelligence. Marie uses intuition, strength, and impulse
to break free from Leopolda s grasp, while at the same time being lucky enough to be successful at
escaping by fooling the other nuns. At the same time she is an anti hero because Marie put herself in
that situation not because she primarily wanted to be part of that religion, but because she was trying
to fit in where she felt welcomed which is caused by her naivety.
When she goes back to see her years later, Leopolda is very unwell, sickly, and skinny. Leopolda lives
a very stagnant life. She lives in the same room at the convent that she always has and she is in bed
most of the day. In a lot of ways Marie is lucky that she didn t go down the same path as Leopolda like
she wanted to initially. We are able to see that twenty years later Marie feels sorry for her which
indicates that Marie is satisfied with what she has done with her life.
Marie can still sometimes seem childish for example in Flesh and Blood she wants to show off how
successful and well she

What Was the Effect of Photography on Painting in the...
What was the effect of photography on painting in the nineteenth century? The photograph was
developed in 1839 simultaneously in England and France by Talbot and Daguerre. That is the
technique of chemically fixing of an image produced by exposure to rays of sun. William Fox Talbot
was an English scholar and scientist who developed the negative and positive process. He used
sensitive paper soaked in sodium hyposulphite called calotype. This became the basis for all
subsequent photography. Photography joined the art world after a long struggle. Although early
photography such as Daguerreotype and Calotype appeared by the mid 19th century, photographs only
began to be displayed in art galleries and museums only in the early 20th century. ... Show more

Two successful Munich portrait artists Franz Lenbach (1836 1904) and Franz Stuck (1863 1928), used
photography extensively to reduce sittings and speed production; Lenbach accumulated a photo
archive of 13, 000 images, many of them taken by the Munich professional Karl Hahn. Today, Hahn s
revealing preparatory photographs of celebrities like Bismarck and Field Marshal von Moltke seem
considerably more interesting than Lenbach s portraits. Other artists closely linked with photography
were the members of the enormously influential plein airiste movement founded by Jules Bastien
Lepage (1848 84). Pascal Adolphe Jean Dagnan Bouveret (1852 1929), Émile Friant (1863 1932),
Alexis Muenier, and the Hessian peasant painter Carl Bantzer all used the camera to record details of
costumes and settings, and to experiment with different groupings and poses. However, the
widespread belief that art and photography were incompatible made artists reticent about their
activities. When, for example, in 1897 the critic Karl Voll complained to his friend, the painter Max
Slevogt, about the use of photographic studies, he had no idea that Slevogt was already well versed in
the practice. But photography had its most dramatic effect on painting as a technology of
reproduction. From the beginning, numerous observers had suggested that by reproducing works
accurately and inexpensively, photography could visually educate a wider public, and so build a larger,

Childhood Influences Impact the Writing of F. Scott Fitzgerald
On Wednesday February 12 of 1890 F. Scott Fitzgerald s parents were married in Washington D.C. Six
years later on September 24, 1896 Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald was born at his home 481 Laurel Ave.
in St. Paul, Minnesota. His two infant older sisters had died from a violent influenza so that by the
time Fitzgerald came along Mollie Fitzgerald had become the proverbial nightmare that known as an
overprotective mother. Fitzgerald s mother was no traditional mother though, for she was known for
her eccentricities. These eccentricities disturbed young Scott s life, Fitzgerald later described his
mother as half insane with pathological nervous worry (Bruccoli 15), ... Show more content on

Because of the proximity of the his mother s extended family Scott had an extra three mothers who
lavished him with affection and estrogen growing up, but had no real male role model. Regardless,
after the final failure in New York, the family returned to St. Paul in July of 1908. Scott and Annabel
lived with their grandmother while Edward and Mollie stayed with a friend until 1909 when the
family finally reunited at 514 Holly Ave. (Bruccoli 23), the street where the family would live for the
next five years. These five years are of note mostly because they made an impression on Scott and
would later become a theme and setting for some of his short stories.
During this time Scott s education began. His mother, Mollie wished for him to associate with the
right crowd and so he was enrolled in a dancing class for boys and girls at Ramaley Hall on Grand
Avenue. It was in this dancing class that he met Marie Hersey. Marie was a good childhood friend who
is even said to have helped Zelda re wardrobe at Scott s request (he didn t like her southern style and
found it unfitting to New York society) after their marriage and move to New York. Mollie also found
hope in Scott when compared to the failures of her husband, but her hopes discouraged Scott s writing
to the point of destroying some of his earliest writings, Her opposition to Scott s literary ambitions

The Great Gatsby Social Class Essay
Social class is the deciding factor in all loving relationships . To what extent is this the case in The
Great Ga tsby and two to three of the poems that you have studied.
In loving relationships in The Great Gatsby, Who So List to Hount (hereafter Who So) and The Flea,
the consort with the highest social status is shown to be dominant over their partner. This classist
imbalance means that these relationships seem not only likely to fail, but destined to fail and,
ultimately, it is then social class which determines whether the relationship will succeed. This essay
will explore this idea with reference to the death of Myrtle, the power of King Henry VIII, the
precariousness of Gatsby s wealth and a possible feminist reading of Donne s The Flea.
When Myrtle is hit by the yellow car ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Seeing as Tom s descriptions are also of his cruel body , it can be said that their relationship is, from
the offset, based on lust, rather than love. Social class is not shown to play a part in lustful
relationships, even if it is a deciding factor in loving relationships, because Myrtle and Tom are shown
to be equal in terms of their sexuality.
Interclass relationships are invariably inhibited by social class in The Great Gatsby, Who So and The
Flea; however, this cannot be called the defining factor in these relationships because, whilst it is
necessarily considered by each writer, the love of the lovers does not change due to social class, only
the fate of said relationships. Then again, it must be remembered that each of the characters focused
on have been defined as the person of the lower social class in the relationship. Whilst these
individuals may continue to love their higher class partners, their partner may not reciprocate this
feeling. Indeed, despite Gatsby s intense love for Daisy so great that Gatsby builds his identity, wealth
and house in her name, Daisy remains indifferent towards him and, following her death,

Oppositional Defiant Disorder And Mental Health Disorders...
Oppositional Defiant Disorder is a serious condition which educators need to know how to address for
the safety of the student, the other students and teacher. In the case of Jack, the situation has become
extremely serious for everyone involves which makes it extremely important for educators to have a
rich understanding of the behaviors, risk factors, and potential training supports associated with ODD.
The prevalence of ODD is unknown among children with mental health disorders in fact, it is
estimated to be around 2 through 12 percent since it is hard to distinguish between other disorders and
ODD (Austin Sciarra, 2010). Similar to ADHD, and autism ODD may be paired with other mental
health disorders (Austin Sciarra, 2010). For instance, I have a student in my class that have been
diagnosed with both ADHD and ODD similar to Joe; he has been known to be extremely disrespectful
toward authority in cases such as that it is important to put into place strategies to address both
disorders. Since it is hard to distinguish between ODD and other disorders it is important for educators
to know the risk factors of ODD. In the study Risk Factors for Conduct Disorder and
Oppositional/Defiant Disorder: Evidence from a New Zealand Birth Cohort researcher identified
several risk facts for ODD. Researchers have found that a combination of genetics, biological and
psychosocial factor contributes to an ODD diagnosis (Boden, Fergusson, Horwood, 2010). For
example, it has been

Scientific Structures
An Analysis on Scientific Structures In recent times, there have been three individuals who have
provided their interpretations on that structures of science. Thomas Kuhn developed the idea of
paradigms, which are nested concepts for looking at the world, and later would propose the idea
paradigm shifts for what he called the Kuhn Cycle. Following Kuhn s work, Imre Lakatos and Larry
Laudan created their own analysis on scientific structures using Kuhn s work as a base for their own.
Lakatos and Laudan both attempted to rationalize and improve on Kuhn s work. In this essay, I will
attempt to analyze the differences in Kuhn s work as compared to Lakatos and Laudan and explain
which account of scientific structures is the most persuasive to believe in. Paradigms are really just
conceptual frameworks through which we interpret the world. In this case, Kuhn applies the concept
of paradigms to the sciences to create the Kuhn Cycle. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

One interpretation of the Kuhn Cycle depends on how one views the concept of incommensurability,
which is the concept that standards of evalution such as rules or laws change or even shift from
generation to generation and cannot be compared to one another. With a strong interpretation of
incommensurability, knowledge is relative to each paradigm and as a result it becomes difficuilt to
figure out if science truly makes progress. There is no reason to prefer one paradigm as being superior
to another. With a weak interpretation of incommensurability, science does make progress as
knowledge increases and is not relative. The fact that Kuhn relies on the concept of
incommensurability in order to save his account of the structure of sciences is enough to prove that his
account is not reliable. His account is the byproduct of a historical paradigm; therefore, its truth value
will depend on one s interpretation of incommensurability. If so, how can we really say Kuhn s
account is

Persuasive Speech On Euthanasia
Today I witnessed my first euthanasias that weren t of my own pets. It s definitely weird, when they
are not your animals, and you aren t really necessary for the procedure to occur.
The first was a dumbo rex rat named Cheese with a tumor that weighed more than he did. His owners
loved him greatly but understood it was his time, as he could no longer move away from his own urine
and poop.
If you ve ever put an animal down, dog, cat, you might think you know how it goes, but it s different
with exotics. For one we take them back. First, we ask if the owner wants any time alone with them,
then we take them back to the surgery room. Cheese s owners had already said goodbye so we proceed
to step two.
Step two is to put the animal under anesthesia, this is where exotics is different besides the fact that
we take them away from their owner. I suppose if the owner insisted we would allow them to come
back, but it can be traumatic for the owner with exotics. Exotic animals have to be put under
anesthesia because the medication that stops their heart is given directly into the heart, through the
chest wall, as opposed to intravenously (through a vein). Obviously seeing a needle go into your
animal s chest would be traumatic, so this is one reason why owners don t come back, but another is
that most animals fight against anesthesia. They don t like the way it smells, and try to pull their nose
out of the cone it s in to trap the gas. This is whether or not the animal is being

Transcendence in Marilynne Robinson’s Housekeeping Essay
Transcendence in Marilynne Robinson s Housekeeping
William H. Burke suggests that transience in Marilynne Robinson s Housekeeping is a type of
pilgrimage, and that the rigors and self denials of the transient life are necessary spiritual conditioning
for the valued crossing from the experience of a world of loss and fragmentation to the perception of a
world that is whole and complete (717). The world of reality in Housekeeping is one fragmented,
isolated, and arbitrary as glimpses one has at night through lighted windows (Robinson 50). Many of
the characters that precede Ruth in the narrative rebel against something in this world that is not right.

Nor will they, like Edmund and Helen, submit to a premature death in the water; instead they pursue a
spiritual transience that will lead them to an earthly state of transcendent grace.
The thoughts and emotions that occur in connection with water are triggered by the lake, and they help
Ruth choose transience over any other form of existence. When water floods Fingerbone, the
boundaries are overrun, exposing the impermanence of the physical world, and the world s own
natural push towards transience. Water shifts the margins, warning us that the visible world only
shows us part of the whole or perhaps even a mere reflection of a false reality. After the fantastic train
wreck in which Ruth s grandfather perished, the lake sealed itself over in ice, changing boundaries
again, while it concealed, like a secret, the last traces of the victims with the illusion of its calm
surface. The lake, a source of beauty and darkness, life and death, is the accumulated past, which
vanishes but does not vanish, which perishes and remains (172). Water carries the symbolic possibility
for rebirth the flood causes the graves in the town cemetery to sink, so that they looked a little

death are so pre eminent in Sylvie s consciousness, in dream, she teaches Ruth to dance underwater, to

Urban Poverty In Planet Of Slums By Mike Davis
In the passage, Planet of Slums by Mike Davis, the author has a dystopic view on urbanization and
argues that urban poverty is increasing and has a negative impact on the world. His dystopic vision
can be written off as a society with undesirable traits such as poverty, oppression, and overcrowding.
Davis s vision on these people s lifestyle can be compared and contrasted with Robert Neuwirth s
view of this lifestyle in his passage, Shadow Cities and the film Sleep Dealer by Alex Rivera.
The author Mike Davis has done countless research on the topic of urban poverty. In his studies he
collects and receives his information from other sources. Perhaps this is the reason why he has a
negative view on slums. This is illustrated in his piece Planet of Slums as he discusses the politics,
urban development, and methods within the slums population. According to Davis, slums and urban
poverty have and will continue to significantly increase. While doing so, the gap in exclusion and
inequality will grow. As a result, this will weaken urban elites in their work to utilize cities as engines
of growth. Slums and slum population are classified as those who are living below the poverty lines,
all while, being associated with overcrowding, having poor or informal housing, inadequate access to
safe water and sanitation, and insecurity of tenure. This is being recognized as an international
phenomenon. To emphasis this phenomenon, approximately half of the slum population in most

The Three Stages Of Memory Encoding
On a day to day basis humans are processing different information constantly. Have you ever
wondered how this is possible? Have you ever wondered why you are able to obtain new information,
store it, and then recall it for later usage? For example, how is it possible that we can study for a test
one day, and then the next day we are able to retrieve that very information to use to take and pass a
test? Because memory is an important cognitive process it helps us to record the past, so we are able
to refer back to it at a later date. If humans didn t have a memory, we would only be able to
understand the present and our past wouldn t exist. The urge to study how memory works and the
concept behind, it has been around for many years. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This happens through three stages which include encoding, storage, and retrieval.
Memory Encoding
Before information is able to be stored successfully in our memory, information from our sensory
input has to be changed into a form in which our brain is able to comprehend. For example, our
perception of something may be different from how it is actually explained, so we have to encode it in
order to better understand it. There are three main stages where encoding occurs; visual (picture),
acoustic (sound), and semantic (meaning) (McLeod, 2007). We go through these three stages often
without even realizing it. For example, when we have to remember a series of numbers for something,
we may keep referring back to it so we have a mental image of it (visual), we may repeat it to
ourselves ( acoustic), and it has to be significant to us otherwise we would have a need to remember it
(semantic).
Memory Storage
Storage in the human memory is the second of the three processes. The process of storing information
involves filtering out and filing information so our brain does not experience an information overload.
The information our brain receives can be stored into our long term, short term or sensory memory.
Memory storage also involves how long we are able to obtain that information and how much
information our brain can actually withhold. According to Miller (1956) most adults are able to store
between 5 and

The Benefits Of Electronic Medical Records
Introduction The benefits of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) significantly outweigh the
disadvantages, when it comes to the nursing care of patients in multiple settings. There have been
multiple studies proving the enhancement and efficiency of nursing care in various areas, when
electronic documentation is properly taught and utilized. Likewise, there is evidence supporting the
reliability of the documentation, after comparing nurses verbal accounts of previously recorded
information. When the programs used in electronic documentation are continually evaluated for
completeness, accuracy, and quality, they become excellent tools for legislation. Electronic medical
records present many advantages to the nursing care of a vast majority of patients, and also help
uphold satisfactory legal and ethical implications of nursing documentation. Body (Review of
Literature) Bruylands, Paans, Hediger, Müller Staub (2013) provide evidence of electronic health
records improving the nursing process. The purpose of their study was to assess the effectiveness of
electronic nursing documentation, when it was and was not coupled with an instructive program. The
experiment sampled electronic nursing documentation over time, and ranked the groups in terms of
accurateness of the nursing process. It was shown that groups who were provided with continual
education had a substantially higher accuracy, when it came to using the nursing process. While all
groups benefited immensely from the

Research Paper On Poliomyelitis
The word poliomyelitis is derived from two Greek words, polio meaning grey and myelon meaning
marrow which indicates the spinal cord. The classic manifestation of paralysis is the effect of polio
virus on the spine (Paul, 1971). Ancient records mention crippling diseases compatible with
poliomyelitis. A weakness of the lower limbs in children that was identifiable as poliomyelitis was
first described by Michael Underwood in 1789. The first outbreaks were reported in the early 19th
century and in 1843 in Europe and the United States respectively. For the next century, polio
epidemics were reported from developed countries in the Northern Hemisphere each summer and fall.
As years passed, the severity of the epidemics and the average age of persons affected increased
(Birmingham et al.,1997). This led to an increase in the number of deaths as a resulting from polio.
Polio cases hit a peak in the USA in 1952, where more than 21,000 paralytic cases were reported
(Paul, 1971). However, polio incidence declined rapidly following introduction of ... Show more

The virus is a member of the enterovirus sub group, family Picornaviridae. Enteroviruses are transient
inhabitants of the gastrointestinal tract, and are stable at acid pH. Picornaviruses are small, ether

and intestines of infected persons such that a mere gram of stool may contain several million virus

Character Analysis Of Little Snow White
In Little Snow White by Germany, Jacob, and Wilhelm Grimm, there is a Queen who becomes jealous
of her seven year old daughter. She envied her daughter s beauty and sends a huntsman to kill Snow
White. Snow White is then all alone and unable to care for herself and becomes dependent of the
Seven Dwarfs. Although she is the main character, she is also the weakest character in the story. In
Fables, we encounter a very different Snow White. Here Snow White oversees the town, Fabletown.
Unlike the original fairytale story, there are no Dwarfs looking after her. She doesn t need a Prince to
come to her rescue because she is the hero in her own right. Her fierceness makes her a strong female
who embodies power. Unlike the Little Snow White, in Fables Snow White is the head in charge, she s
independent, and bold. Snow White is the head in charge who runs a town called Fabletown. She still
needs to run things by the Mayor but overall, she is the face of Fabletown. Others come to her with
their problems in hopes of a solution. Contrary to the Snow White we know from the original
fairytales where Snow White is not in charge of anything and no one comes to her for solutions.
Instead, she has the seven dwarfs looking out for her. For example, when the queen tried to kill her
they said, It must have been the queen who tried to kill you, take care, and do not let anyone in again
(Germany, Jacob, and Wilhelm Grimm). This shows pity on the dwarf s behalf because they knew she
was unable to care for herself. However, in Fables, Snow White is now the one looking out for others.
For example, Beauty and the Beast come to Snow White for help with their marriage. Although, Snow
White was not able to give them a solution, she was now on the opposite end of the table unlike the
young and naïve Snow from the fairytale who sought others for her problems. Fables shows a great
representation of an independent woman with Snow White. After leaving the homeland and moving to
Fabletown, Snow White does not have her Prince Charming. Instead, this Snow White shows that she
can do anything she sets her mind to without any help. Something that did not occur in the fairytale
where the prince comes to her rescue and they live happily ever

Good Times Become Good Memories, And Bad Times Become Good...
Good times become good memories, and bad times become good lessons. I have had many good and
bad memories but this is one of the most memorable ones I have ever had. The most important and
vivid memory that seems like it was just yesterday was when my dad had to go to Iraq in 2009 for a
year. At the time I was 5 and didn t realize the risks of him going over seas with the Army. He could
get injured or even killed. I was so depressed when I finally understood that he would be gone for a
whole year. He would leave when I was 5 and come back when I was 6. He would miss a whole year
of my life, and he would miss my 1st year of school(kindergarten). I remember exactly where I was
when my parents told me he was going away, when we had his going away party, and when he

The Reformative Speech On Waterfowl Hunting
The informative speech tends to be one of my personal favorites when it comes to publically
performing the speech in front of a group of peers. This speech tends to be one of my particular
favorites due to the fact that if you are going to be presenting it, you should be the one who knows the
most about the topic and should be delivering it in a fashion in which your peers find interesting. Even
if the topic itself isn t a very popular topic you as a presenter should be able to make connections to
the audience during this time which makes them very intrigued with your topic and maybe even
considering further research in that area
When asked to pick a topic for this speech for a while it left me bewildered, and I had a lot of
difficulty picking a topic until I heard the first few speech s, Once I realized that my classmates were
choosing based off of their own interests I knew I had a topic to talk about, that being waterfowl
hunting. I chose this topic on a variety of reasons. The biggest reason for selecting this topic is
because of my family s background in the sport. My family has been duck Hunting since before I was
even born, and as soon as my father could he brought me on his boat, this was a January day on the
saltwater marshes of Long Island with the temperature hovering around ten degrees. Of course, the
Bay Constable showed up to our boat coming to do an inspection because of the crowded marshes on
the south shore of Long Island have houses built right on the shore line, so hearing shotguns blasting
off at ducks tends to scare people at 6:30 AM, So after dropping the blind so that the officer can look
in our boat to check that we have all the proper equipment, and safety precautions taken, Until I
popped up in the big orange lifejacket and just bout scare the cop into the freezing marsh, and after he
questioned my father as to why he brought a four year old out on a day where its cold, snowing,
blowing freezing wind, and miserable outside, and simply my dad replied to him because he wanted to
come To a four year old this was the coolest thing I would ever see and would instantly want to do as
an activity for as long as I could. Prior to this speech waterfowl has been something I have researched

Little Miss Sunshine Themes
Little Miss Sunshine Movie Analysis
1. The makers of Little Miss Sunshine create meaning through utilizing music and close up camera
shots. The film makers carefully choose what music to play during each scene, matching the type of
music to the emotions the characters are feeling. For example, the music that plays in the introduction
with Olive Hoover watching the Miss America Pageant sounds hopeful. This helps viewers understand
her dream to become a beauty queen. The music played in the background as Frank faces the person
who influences him to commit suicide gives off a feeling of loneliness and depression.
The film makers use of close up shots come in key when showing direct emotions a character is
feeling. For example, the close up shots of Richard Hoover during the Little Miss Sunshine Pageant
contribute to the viewer s understanding of the overall theme of the movie. We can see shock ridden
over Richard s face as each girl participating in the competition enters the stage. This emphasizes his
realization of the unreal expectations and pressures on the girls to perform in a certain way, and we
understand that influences his decision to try to get Olive to withdraw from the pageant. ... Show more

There are two kinds of people in the world, Olive s father Richard Hoover claims, winners and losers.
Olive s father s expectation for everyone to be a winner and not a loser relates to the pressure in
American society for everyone to be perfect. In reality, you have to be able to accept your
imperfections. For example, Olive, slightly chubby and with a mismatched sense of style, aspires to
become a beauty queen. The message that the film makers reveal is that individuality is more
important than conforming to societies ideas of what makes a winner and what does

Mass Communication Effects on Indian Society
ABSTRACT
Our world today is increasingly driven by a mass media due to the explosion of different means of
communication, especially electronic communication such as satellite TV and Internet. The media is
viewed as a source of power that influences, controls, and promotes new standards in the society and
reinforces the existing ones. As the media increases in use as our prime source for information and
values, there is a great need to critically evaluate inherent socio political and cultural barriers. This
study is conducted to identify inherent socio political and cultural barriers for mass media impact on
Indian society. The study will help to understand the inherent barriers involved in mass media impact

Tracking this growth in a meaningful perspective is imperative since its spread and reach have been
mired in socio political and cultural barriers. The complexities that limit the growth of the Indian
media story are based on a heady mix of poverty, bias, economics, and the inherent trappings of a
religious philosophy that find echo in the fatalistic suppositions of Hinduism. With minimal impact to
change the state of the nation, the barriers that come in the way of the free flow of information need to
be tackled with more alacrity and awareness, lest the growth gets sucked into the vortex of its own
limitations. The advertisement driven consumerist mooring that is propelling the flawed Indian info
age communication story seems to be a pointer in this direction.

Louis Pasteur And Lister
Pasteurization and Listerine came from the names of pioneers against germs, who improved the
affects of medicine. Experimenting in the late 1800s, scientists Louis Pasteur in France, then Joseph
Lister in England, made discoveries that revolutionized patient health. Their work eliminated some of
the health risks patients experienced throughout medical processes. Both Louis Pasteur and Joseph
Lister transformed treatment, to the process and eventually to the patient during the Industrial
Revolution.
Before scientific improvements introduced by Pasteur and Lister, there was a lack of cleanliness
throughout the surgical process. Medical theory misunderstood the importance of a cleanliness
protocol, these faults resulted in sepsis and outpatient deaths. Though the actual surgery would be a
success, Ward Fever would claim lives afterwards. Louis Pasteur and Joseph Lister brought to light
the effects of illness and benefits of sterilization.
Louis Pasteur, a French chemist and biologist, founded the concept of temperature as a way to kill
germs. He showed that microorganisms caused liquids such as milk, wine and beer to spoil. He
invented a process in association with Claude Bernard in which liquids such as milk were heated to
kill bacteria and moulds present and then cooled to normal temperature (Louis Pasteur Famous
Inventors). Discovered in 1864, Pasteurization ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Internal Review Boards is eligible for promotion. Therefore, since I guessed better than the person

hundreds indirectly. The only training I received in supervision were the classes I took to impress the
Internal Review Board. The perils of Civil Service, perhaps. Additionally, when I first made sergeant
in 2011 there was no training program for the new supervisors. Surprisingly, I rode with another
sergeant for three days and then was on my own. Expectations were that I could perform the duties
and responsibilities since I passed the test.
Then, in 2016, I made lieutenant and the only training I received was moving from the sergeant s
office across the hall to my new office.
Since then I, with another lieutenant, have put together a training program for all new sergeants.
However, on my own I learned a few things and have come up with a few of my own maxims that
many other supervisors have taken to quoting:

The Pros And Cons Of Counterfeit Medications
Counterfeit medications are unsafe and a treat to people around the world. The use of the medications
can cause harm to both the body and society. It is important that the consumers are educated about
counterfeit mediations. Most people who purchase counterfeit medication may not understand that
laws are being broken. Drugs are unlawfully and consciously being made to resemble the FDA (Food
and Drug Administration) approved drug. Sellers are infringing on the companies Intellectual Property
(IP), as medications are protected in law by copyright, patents, and trademarks. Copyrights are
protecting the pharmaceutical copay ownership of the product, whereas the counterfeit drug suppliers
are claiming the medication as the original. Fake medications are being stamped with the same logo
Drug patents last 20 years and once the patent expires the owner has the authority to decide how
others can use the product. The counterfeit drug supplies do not have the right to copy the makeup and
design of the legitimate drug. There are many fake drugs that are slightly identical to the original.
Visually the consumer may not be able to tell the difference, the drugs are the same color, shape, and
include the unique logo of the pharmaceutical company. Due to the misappropriation consumers are
lead to believe they are receiving the same product.

Bradbury Custom House
Henry Rushbury s Custom House, London (Fig. 1) is a watercolour rendition of the structures and
waterfront on the north bank of the Thames in 1932. The date is evidenced in the bottom right of the
painting, along with the artist s signature. The foreground and middle depicts the Thames packed with
ships, some passing and others either docked or possibly re arranging goods (as shown by the derricks
in the middle right of the picture). The background depicts the Custom House and its adjoining
buildings. To the left of the Customs House lies the Billingsgate Fish Market, and the spires of St

It is possible that this painting was created to be exhibited, as Rushbury was a member of both the
Royal Academy (since 1913) and the Royal Society of Painters in Water Colours (since 1922). The
latter society seems the more likely, however, since the Royal Academy was not as accepting of
watercolour as a significant medium. Another possibility is that this painting and others like it were
made to be sold for interior decoration, as the scale and design suited such purposes. Finally, seeing as
Rushbury was a successful printmaker, it is possible that Custom House was created as a sketch for a
future etching. The painting, however, could be more than just a sketch, as the intricate and accurate

Training Day Analysis
Training Day is a LAPD movie, but the plot makes it stand out. It s a story of a rookie cop who has his
mind set on a goal. Alonzo, (Denzel Washington), a veteran cop who can get him there. The movie
follows the cop duo, which feels like End of Watch, and both movies have the same writer. Training
Day is action packed, and makes you think because it sends a message to the audience and the
character. I like this movie too because it asks the audience what s right and what s wrong. I would
also like to mention that everyone is crooked, yet Jake (the rookie cop)is honest. Alonzo stole money
from a drug dealer to bribe a crooked judge to get a warrant to break into a richer drug dealer house

a different way and no one taught Jake that the world is cruel, and twisted. This eventually causes the
climactic intense ending, and will keep your eyes glued to the screen. Although I enjoy this movie
there is somethings that could be better. For instance the movie has a slow start. I m not going to lie, I
did skip a bit to the ride along, for it was boring. I also would make a scene more believable, but I
digress because if it was the movie wouldn t be able to continue. Overall this movie contained major
keys to make it interesting. I love rated R movies because they are actually interesting and keep me in

violence, pervasive language, drug content, and brief nudity. Overall this is a entertaining movie that
doesn t disappoint. 9/11 would watch

Low Voter Voting
PART III: CHAPTER 1 QUESTIONS
Question 1. Even in a presidential election, only about half of the eligible adults exercise their right to
vote. What are the consequences of a low voter turnout? Does low turnout have any possible benefits?
In my opinion, I believe everyone that is eligible to vote should vote. This amazing opportunity to go
out and have an impact on policies that affect our lives should not be taken lightly. For a long period
of time through American history neither women nor African Americans were permitted to vote, and
they fought for that opportunity to participate. I do not understand why anyone would throw out that
chance to make a difference for a change they want to see, because nothing will get done by sitting
down and waiting for someone else to fix the problem. As stated in our text Voter turnout has
remained well below that of other advanced democracies (Losco 2). In my personal belief, having half
of eligible voters show up to vote is unacceptable, because it may result in major lifelong
ramifications. I believe the lack of participation in voting, is resulting in people becoming elected, and
laws getting past that most people are not aware of. I would have to strongly agree with the Greek
philosopher Aristotle who felt that citizens should not simply sit back and enjoy the benefits of
society; they must also take responsibility for its operation. (Losco 6). What is a little troubling is that
it appears that older population becomes more

The complete elimination is impossible due to the prevalence of bacteria. Nevertheless, there are
many preventative measures that can minimize the rate of bacterial contaminations on foods.
First and foremost, personal hygiene is one of the most important factors in bacterial contamination.
Farm workers, on the one hand, can contaminate foods if they do not wash hands after use bathroom
or make contact with foods after contacted with non food substances. Food handlers or distributors
can contaminate foods in the same way. People who handle ready to eat (RTE) foods, especially, have
to wear gloves to avoid any chance of contamination. Conversely, the personal hygiene of consumers
is of equal importance that foodborne illnesses can happen if a consumer does not wash hands

describe the potential cross contamination for Salmonella spp. and Listeria monocytogenes from
contaminated knives. The best way is to wash hands frequently, especially right before meals, and

It is important that those young children have time to enjoy their youth without engaging in adult
affairs. There should instead be strict rules governing the industry, and the minimum age for the

also illustrates that states do no need to be governed by any morality and everyone should protect
themselves from the harsh realities of the world. The teenagers in other states may also feel left out,
and they may choose to experiment with sex in Las Vegas.

Characterism In The Play Hedda Gabler
A brutal mix of manipulation, affairs, fear, and death, the play Hedda Gabler is a fine example of
unhappiness in marriage and self. The author, Henrik Ibsen, creates a scenario which highlights the
faults of his main character, Hedda Tesman, showing the audience where her true priorities lie.
Throughout the play Hedda s character begins to regress, obsessively trying to gain control over those
around her by plotting characters against each other and skillfully manipulating them. Devolving into
a caged manic when she is unable to get her ways, she becomes trapped in a marriage that brings out
her worst attributes. Ibsen brings about Heddas instability slowly, using character Judge Brack to
show how an already unhappy woman can become a ticking bomb under marital restrictions. Putting
her into more and more precarious situations , until, inevitably, she explodes. Ibsen s use of literary
foils highlights Heddas weaknesses, revealing her true nature of cowardice. Building to her ultimate
demise, brought about between the collision of [her lack of] control and fear. As in trying to gain
control of others, you ll lose control of yourself. Hedda Tesman has many visitors over the couple of
days that we see of her life, but a frequent visitor that leaves a lasting impression is Judge Brack; an
older man that is held with high respects by all. He has power in the community and is able to pass
through people s lives without much talk, judging those who he saw fit to judge. His

Financial statement and ratio analysis is also used to drill down within the larger financial
performance of the company as a whole to evaluate various divisions and product or service lines.
These analyses are critically important as they are often used to enhance the firm s credibility in the
larger marketplace; assist in determining its own creditworthiness; and comparing its performance to
that of potential competitors.
In examining company reports the focus is primarily on revenues (gross profit), and net income
(earnings after expenses). For example, Apple Inc., might be interested in conducting a detailed
evaluation of its revenue in order to isolate the amount being generated by various products (i.e., the
sales of the iPhone compared to the iPad). The revenue report might even assist in identifying the
underlying issue, such as lack of advertising, if there is a wide disparity in sales. Evaluating net
income helps the financial manager ascertain the amount of profit that the company ultimately gained
after expenses, such as manufacturing and advertising, are taken into account. Apple, Inc. can then use
the results of these evaluations to make cost benefit judgments that could lead to new marketing
campaigns, redesign, or even potential elimination of a product line.

Sara Blakely Spanx
Sara Blakely is the founder of Spanx. Spanx is a body shaping undergarments and the answer to a lot
of women s prayer. Blakely held and failed at many jobs including, trying out for Goofy at Disney
World. Fortunate for her she was too short. She even failed the Law School Admission Test (LSAT)
twice in hopes of becoming a lawyer. She eventually sold fax machines for seven years. It was doing
the time that she was selling fax machines that she had to wear the ever so uncomfortable girdle. Sara
knew there had to be a better and more comfortable choice for women. She utilized her creative
characteristic by cutting the legs off some control top pantyhose, made some modification and created
the Spanx. Another characteristic that attributed to her success is that she was a calculated risk taker.
When she was younger, her father would ask her the same question daily, what have you failed at
today? She stated in the interview with Robert Franck of CNBC News, The gift he was giving me is
that failure is (when you are) not trying versus the outcome. It s really allowed me to be much freer in
trying things and spreading my wings in life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Brutal Death Metal Analysis
The owner of metalbleedingcorp (Indonesia) came to Nepal to leave this cd in my residence, and
whispering in my ears You should to listen to and feel, how these guys have created a perfection of
brutal grooves and outstanding. You will see red, you will pensive, you will smile, and you will do it
continuously every day until you feel how many hatred that you do, or how far the fight of your life,
or how many rebellions have you planned, or could be, how many good things that you do around you
. I do not call this brutality is a mere dissonance, but a wonderful charm of brutal death metal that is
very unfortunate if missed. Armorgod from Bandung, Indonesia, knew exactly how to create
enjoyment of brutal death, which was to be heard repeatedly, and Brutal death that has high emotional
depth. Furthermore, I know that there are three major elements that build their music, including Old
school brutal, melodic and technical. So, how the way to listen to a harmony in the brutal death metal

Clarkson University Utopia
I extol those who believe that Clarkson University is a utopia. Although conversely, I believe that
Clarkson University is not a utopia. A utopia, in the minds of most, consists of an ideal place or state.
It consists of a unified culture with advanced sciences and technology. There is no need for currency;
people contribute and complete work they enjoy for the common good of the society. It is a self
sustaining society. People do not experience misery or disappointment and there is an absence of
barbaric acts. While, Clarkson University does indeed have some of these utopian qualities many are
lacking. This leads me to the conclusion that Clarkson University is not a utopia.
Consider all the books, articles, blogs, and journals that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That connection can be defined even more between misery and the barbaric nature of students. If there
was a perfect world, a utopia, and Clarkson University was it, there would be none of these barbaric
traits. Naturally, this is not the case. I have noticed that when most students at Clarkson University get
stressed they partake in an activity that is frowned upon by most law enforcement. The students
partake in drinking and going out to parties often noting to take their mind off of the stress . Their
consumption of alcohol, in most situations, leads to some type of barbaric behavior from the student
or students. Not all students go out and party because of stress, some believe it is a form of recreation
and do it for fun. In a utopia this would not be the case. In most cases of a utopian society they do not
engage in activities that can cause harm to themselves or others. The novel Brave New World by

Visual Analysis Essay On Photo
Photo Analysis In this color photo my eye is immediately drawn to the blue car just below the direct
center of the photograph. The car s paint is faded everywhere except the very front of the hood making
the color a very pale blue. There are two men leaning on either side of the hood, on the far side the
man has his back to the camera and is wearing a blue shirt and a grey hat, the man on the near side is
wearing a plain white t shirt with brown pants with one of the pant legs tied in a knot because his right
leg is absent. You can see the man in whites front side, he is overweight and has brown curly hair and
appears to be holding something but I could not identify what it was in this picture. On the back side
of the car both the trunk and the driver s side rear door are wide open with two small boxes with
handles placed on the ground right below the door. The car is parked on a bridge constructed of
basketball sized rocks dirt and a large metal pipe that a small stream of dirty water is flowing through.
Upstream from the bridge there is a buildup of sticks and logs that spans the whole stream. The stream

intersect at the car that emphasizes the focal point of the car. The tones and colors in this image are
very dull even the faded blue paint on the car. It appears this picture was taken in early spring shortly
after the snow melted, that is why everything is dead. There is a bit of empty space behind the stream
that shows the distance between the stream ant the tree line behind it. The Photographer framed this
picture in a way that shows it is extended beyond the frame because both the stream and road continue

Bookreport The Bully Essays
The Bully by Paul Langan Book Report Shanta R. Wilson Liberty University PSYC/221 Mrs. Rhonda
Wilson July 31, 2011 I am writing my book report for Mrs. Rhonda Wilson, which is the instructor for
PSYC/221. The book I will be giving my report on is The Bully by Paul Langan. This book contains
190 pages. It was copyright in 2002 by Townsend Press, Inc. and printed in the United States of
America. The cover was illustrated in 2001 by Gerald Purnell and was designed by Larry Didona. I
choose this book because it is something children face every day. The Bully is a story about a boy
named Darrell Mercel who lives in Philadelphia with his mom. In Philadelphia, he had a best friend
named Mark that would always help him when he had a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first Friday of New Year, Darrell didn t want to go to the supermarket parking lot to met Tyray
because he didn t want to be scared of Tyray. He decided that he didn t want pay to him again. At
school, Tyray came and asked Darrell about his money, but the teacher came in so Tyray went away.
When they went to eat lunch, Tyray and Darrell started fighting and then Tyray was crying because he
broke his wrist. Finally, they were both sent to the principal office. At that time, Darrell told the
principal what happened. In conclusion, Tyray got suspended and Darrell got a warning. There was
this big fight between the two main characters Darrell and Tyray. Most fights normally go both ways
but this particular fight was strangely one sided. Tyray. The excitement from this scene is clearly the
fight itself and because of the irony of the situation. The irony was that the Darrell was untouchable in
a fight against the bully. Constantly being laughed at and clowned by your peers can get very
frustrating and unbearable. Darrell didn t receive any respect from hardly anyone in school because he
was labeled as a punk from not retaliating to Tyrays foolishness. This conflict led to Darrell taking
martial arts classes, learning a myriad of moves and techniques, and displaying them in the final
altercation between him and Tyray. Darrell had to overcome his struggles with a bully named Tyray.

Performance Environment Occupation Performance Model
Performance Environment Occupation Performance Model
Occupational Therapy, along with many other professions, have models that guide the profession.
These models, known as the Occupational based Models of Practice, guide Occupational Therapists in
the care of clients (Cole Tufano, 2008, p. 87). Although there are many models, each model has its
own distinct features and focuses. Similar in many forms, they also have unique characteristics, and
each have a different emphasis. These models have the guiding principles of occupation defined as, a
basic human need, an essential component of human life, organizes behavior, gives meaning to life,
enables a healthy lifestyle, and improves an individual s quality of life (Cole Tufano, 2008, p. 127). So
while all of the models are similar in some aspects in terms of occupation, each model is unique in
some aspects as well. The Person Environment Occupation Performance Model (PEOP) is one of the
five models, incorporating a client centered approach to a person s occupations (Cole Tufano, 2008, p.
8).
Focus
The Peron Environment Occupation Performance Model was published in 1991 by Charles
Christiansen and Carolyn Baum. This model is a client centered approach focusing on occupations,
and how these occupations are meaningful to the client. Within this model, it is important for the client
to decide the occupations that are important to themselves. The areas of occupation are,

The Characteristics Of North American Currency
Have we always known the distinct characteristics of North American currency? The dollar bills and
coins we use today have been through many changes in appearance and value. Paper and metals have
been the appearance of most currency. The change of currency went through early colonial period,
colonial period, Antebellum period, Civil War period and the Reconstruction period to finally establish
what we now know as American Currency. The separation of our country did not represent unity or
form for America. The American currency did not have an identity until the National Banking Act of
1863, established the dollar as the currency of choice.
The currency that was used in most English colonies during the 1600s was coins. The Colonists of that
time would count their money based on the English system that consisted of shillings, pounds, and
pence that was valued as; twelve pence equaled a shilling and twelve shillings equaled a pound
(Walbert, David). The pence were also recognized to be a penny. The currency varied in each region
and some would only accept trade and not pence or schillings. One of the most common identities of
currency later became the Spanish dollar. After so many people had the dollars they become less in
value and caused inflation to the country and a new type of currency needed to be established for the
country.
During the late Colonial period in 1690, a decision was suggested that the Spanish dollar was no
longer of a great value and worth its weight in

Another form of research is the consumer based research.
Primary research involves collection of data directly from the consumers. It is quite an expensive
method of research though quite effective. Customer feedbacks are collected through telephonic

The Theory Of The Australian Human Resource Institute Executive summary Through the need of a change within the management of the Australian Human Resource institute this report has outlined efficient ways in improving the success rate of the Australian manufacturing sectors. However, in discovering the right way to dealt the management different theories have been looked upon. The classical 1909 theory was proposed by Frederick Winslow Taylor, which explained that improving management is based on the efficiency and productivity of the employees. She is able to come out of bad experiences and use them to improve and guide her. She learns from her mistakes is able to look at her own flaws which help her grow as a person. She is not too ashamed to be able to say that she was naive, ignorant, or made the wrong decision. She thinks before she acts with a plan in mind. In Saint Marie (1934) Marie is only fourteen years old and is trying to find her identity and sense of importance. Even though she is half native american and half white, she doesn t feel like she is fully accepted into either community. In order to find her calling, she believes she can prove herself good ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A big part of the reason Leopolda saw Marie as different proved to be that Marie was part Native American which meant that Satan had a stronger presence in her than the other white children. In many ways Marie Lazzare proves herself to be heroic throughout both stories Saint Marie and Flesh and Blood (1957). Even though she is only fourteen in Saint Marie she successfully escaped a dangerous situation with a mixture of luck and intelligence. Marie uses intuition, strength, and impulse to break free from Leopolda s grasp, while at the same time being lucky enough to be successful at escaping by fooling the other nuns. At the same time she is an anti hero because Marie put herself in that situation not because she primarily wanted to be part of that religion, but because she was trying to fit in where she felt welcomed which is caused by her naivety. When she goes back to see her years later, Leopolda is very unwell, sickly, and skinny. Leopolda lives a very stagnant life. She lives in the same room at the convent that she always has and she is in bed most of the day. In a lot of ways Marie is lucky that she didn t go down the same path as Leopolda like she wanted to initially. We are able to see that twenty years later Marie feels sorry for her which indicates that Marie is satisfied with what she has done with her life. The photograph was developed in 1839 simultaneously in England and France by Talbot and Daguerre. That is the technique of chemically fixing of an image produced by exposure to rays of sun. William Fox Talbot was an English scholar and scientist who developed the negative and positive process. He used sensitive paper soaked in sodium hyposulphite called calotype. This became the basis for all subsequent photography. Photography joined the art world after a long struggle. Although early photography such as Daguerreotype and Calotype appeared by the mid 19th century, photographs only began to be displayed in art galleries and museums only in the early 20th century. ... Two successful Munich portrait artists Franz Lenbach (1836 1904) and Franz Stuck (1863 1928), used photography extensively to reduce sittings and speed production; Lenbach accumulated a photo archive of 13, 000 images, many of them taken by the Munich professional Karl Hahn. Today, Hahn s revealing preparatory photographs of celebrities like Bismarck and Field Marshal von Moltke seem considerably more interesting than Lenbach s portraits. Other artists closely linked with photography were the members of the enormously influential plein airiste movement founded by Jules Bastien Lepage (1848 84). Pascal Adolphe Jean Dagnan Bouveret (1852 1929), Émile Friant (1863 1932), Alexis Muenier, and the Hessian peasant painter Carl Bantzer all used the camera to record details of costumes and settings, and to experiment with different groupings and poses. However, the widespread belief that art and photography were incompatible made artists reticent about their activities. When, for example, in 1897 the critic Karl Voll complained to his friend, the painter Max Slevogt, about the use of photographic studies, he had no idea that Slevogt was already well versed in the practice. But photography had its most dramatic effect on painting as a technology of reproduction. From the beginning, numerous observers had suggested that by reproducing works accurately and inexpensively, photography could visually educate a wider public, and so build a larger, more ... To what extent is this the case in The Great Ga tsby and two to three of the poems that you have studied. In loving relationships in The Great Gatsby, Who So List to Hount (hereafter Who So) and The Flea, the consort with the highest social status is shown to be dominant over their partner. This classist imbalance means that these relationships seem not only likely to fail, but destined to fail and, ultimately, it is then social class which determines whether the relationship will succeed. Interclass relationships are invariably inhibited by social class in The Great Gatsby, Who So and The Flea; however, this cannot be called the defining factor in these relationships because, whilst it is necessarily considered by each writer, the love of the lovers does not change due to social class, only the fate of said relationships. In the case of Jack, the situation has become extremely serious for everyone involves which makes it extremely important for educators to have a rich understanding of the behaviors, risk factors, and potential training supports associated with ODD. The prevalence of ODD is unknown among children with mental health disorders in fact, it is estimated to be around 2 through 12 percent since it is hard to distinguish between other disorders and ODD (Austin Sciarra, 2010). Similar to ADHD, and autism ODD may be paired with other mental health disorders (Austin Sciarra, 2010). For instance, I have a student in my class that have been diagnosed with both ADHD and ODD similar to Joe; he has been known to be extremely disrespectful toward authority in cases such as that it is important to put into place strategies to address both disorders. Since it is hard to distinguish between ODD and other disorders it is important for educators to know the risk factors of ODD. In the study Risk Factors for Conduct Disorder and Oppositional/Defiant Disorder: Evidence from a New Zealand Birth Cohort researcher identified several risk facts for ODD. Thomas Kuhn developed the idea of paradigms, which are nested concepts for looking at the world, and later would propose the idea paradigm shifts for what he called the Kuhn Cycle. Following Kuhn s work, Imre Lakatos and Larry Laudan created their own analysis on scientific structures using Kuhn s work as a base for their own. Lakatos and Laudan both attempted to rationalize and improve on Kuhn s work. In this essay, I will attempt to analyze the differences in Kuhn s work as compared to Lakatos and Laudan and explain which account of scientific structures is the most persuasive to believe in. There is no reason to prefer one paradigm as being superior to another. With a weak interpretation of incommensurability, science does make progress as knowledge increases and is not relative. The fact that Kuhn relies on the concept of incommensurability in order to save his account of the structure of sciences is enough to prove that his account is not reliable. If you ve ever put an animal down, dog, cat, you might think you know how it goes, but it s different with exotics. For one we take them back. First, we ask if the owner wants any time alone with them, then we take them back to the surgery room. Cheese s owners had already said goodbye so we proceed to step two. Step two is to put the animal under anesthesia, this is where exotics is different besides the fact that we take them away from their owner. I suppose if the owner insisted we would allow them to come back, but it can be traumatic for the owner with exotics. Exotic animals have to be put under anesthesia because the medication that stops their heart is given directly into the heart, through the chest wall, as opposed to intravenously (through a vein). Obviously seeing a needle go into your animal s chest would be traumatic, so this is one reason why owners don t come back, but another is that most animals fight against anesthesia. The world of reality in Housekeeping is one fragmented, isolated, and arbitrary as glimpses one has at night through lighted windows (Robinson 50). When water floods Fingerbone, the boundaries are overrun, exposing the impermanence of the physical world, and the world s own natural push towards transience. Water shifts the margins, warning us that the visible world only shows us part of the whole or perhaps even a mere reflection of a false reality. After the fantastic train wreck in which Ruth s grandfather perished, the lake sealed itself over in ice, changing boundaries again, while it concealed, like a secret, the last traces of the victims with the illusion of its calm surface. Urban Poverty In Planet Of Slums By Mike Davis In the passage, Planet of Slums by Mike Davis, the author has a dystopic view on urbanization and argues that urban poverty is increasing and has a negative impact on the world. His dystopic vision can be written off as a society with undesirable traits such as poverty, oppression, and overcrowding. Davis s vision on these people s lifestyle can be compared and contrasted with Robert Neuwirth s view of this lifestyle in his passage, Shadow Cities and the film Sleep Dealer by Alex Rivera. The author Mike Davis has done countless research on the topic of urban poverty. In his studies he collects and receives his information from other sources. Perhaps this is the reason why he has a negative view on slums. This is illustrated in his piece Planet of Slums as he discusses the politics, urban development, and methods within the slums population. According to Davis, slums and urban poverty have and will continue to significantly increase. While doing so, the gap in exclusion and inequality will grow. As a result, this will weaken urban elites in their work to utilize cities as engines of growth. Slums and slum population are classified as those who are living below the poverty lines, all while, being associated with overcrowding, having poor or informal housing, inadequate access to safe water and sanitation, and insecurity of tenure. • 16. The Three Stages Of Memory Encoding On a day to day basis humans are processing different information constantly. Have you ever wondered how this is possible? Have you ever wondered why you are able to obtain new information, store it, and then recall it for later usage? For example, how is it possible that we can study for a test one day, and then the next day we are able to retrieve that very information to use to take and pass a test? Because memory is an important cognitive process it helps us to record the past, so we are able to refer back to it at a later date. If humans didn t have a memory, we would only be able to understand the present and our past wouldn t exist. The urge to study how memory works and the concept behind, it has been around for many years. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This happens through three stages which include encoding, storage, and retrieval. Memory Encoding Before information is able to be stored successfully in our memory, information from our sensory input has to be changed into a form in which our brain is able to comprehend. For example, our perception of something may be different from how it is actually explained, so we have to encode it in order to better understand it. There are three main stages where encoding occurs; visual (picture), acoustic (sound), and semantic (meaning) (McLeod, 2007). We go through these three stages often without even realizing it. For example, when we have to remember a series of numbers for something, we may keep referring back to it so we have a mental image of it (visual), we may repeat it to ourselves ( acoustic), and it has to be significant to us otherwise we would have a need to remember it (semantic). Memory Storage Storage in the human memory is the second of the three processes. The process of storing information involves filtering out and filing information so our brain does not experience an information overload. The information our brain receives can be stored into our long term, short term or sensory memory. Memory storage also involves how long we are able to obtain that information and how much information our brain can actually withhold. The Benefits Of Electronic Medical Records Introduction The benefits of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) significantly outweigh the disadvantages, when it comes to the nursing care of patients in multiple settings. There have been multiple studies proving the enhancement and efficiency of nursing care in various areas, when electronic documentation is properly taught and utilized. Likewise, there is evidence supporting the reliability of the documentation, after comparing nurses verbal accounts of previously recorded information. When the programs used in electronic documentation are continually evaluated for completeness, accuracy, and quality, they become excellent tools for legislation. She envied her daughter s beauty and sends a huntsman to kill Snow White. Snow White is then all alone and unable to care for herself and becomes dependent of the Seven Dwarfs. Although she is the main character, she is also the weakest character in the story. In Fables, we encounter a very different Snow White. Here Snow White oversees the town, Fabletown. Unlike the original fairytale story, there are no Dwarfs looking after her. She doesn t need a Prince to come to her rescue because she is the hero in her own right. Her fierceness makes her a strong female who embodies power. Unlike the Little Snow White, in Fables Snow White is the head in charge, she s independent, and bold. Snow White is the head in charge who runs a town called Fabletown. She still needs to run things by the Mayor but overall, she is the face of Fabletown. Others come to her with their problems in hopes of a solution. Contrary to the Snow White we know from the original fairytales where Snow White is not in charge of anything and no one comes to her for solutions. Instead, she has the seven dwarfs looking out for her. For example, when the queen tried to kill her they said, It must have been the queen who tried to kill you, take care, and do not let anyone in again (Germany, Jacob, and Wilhelm Grimm). This shows pity on the dwarf s behalf because they knew she was unable to care for herself. However, in Fables, Snow White is now the one looking out for others. For example, Beauty and the Beast come to Snow White for help with their marriage. Although, Snow White was not able to give them a solution, she was now on the opposite end of the table unlike the young and naïve Snow from the fairytale who sought others for her problems. The film makers carefully choose what music to play during each scene, matching the type of music to the emotions the characters are feeling. For example, the music that plays in the introduction with Olive Hoover watching the Miss America Pageant sounds hopeful. This helps viewers understand her dream to become a beauty queen. The film makers use of close up shots come in key when showing direct emotions a character is feeling. For example, the close up shots of Richard Hoover during the Little Miss Sunshine Pageant contribute to the viewer s understanding of the overall theme of the movie. Experimenting in the late 1800s, scientists Louis Pasteur in France, then Joseph Lister in England, made discoveries that revolutionized patient health. Their work eliminated some of the health risks patients experienced throughout medical processes. Both Louis Pasteur and Joseph Lister transformed treatment, to the process and eventually to the patient during the Industrial Revolution. Before scientific improvements introduced by Pasteur and Lister, there was a lack of cleanliness throughout the surgical process. Medical theory misunderstood the importance of a cleanliness protocol, these faults resulted in sepsis and outpatient deaths. Though the actual surgery would be a success, Ward Fever would claim lives afterwards. Louis Pasteur and Joseph Lister brought to light the effects of illness and benefits of sterilization. Training Day is action packed, and makes you think because it sends a message to the audience and the character. I like this movie too because it asks the audience what s right and what s wrong. What are the consequences of a low voter turnout? Does low turnout have any possible benefits? In my opinion, I believe everyone that is eligible to vote should vote. This amazing opportunity to go out and have an impact on policies that affect our lives should not be taken lightly. For a long period of time through American history neither women nor African Americans were permitted to vote, and they fought for that opportunity to participate. I do not understand why anyone would throw out that chance to make a difference for a change they want to see, because nothing will get done by sitting down and waiting for someone else to fix the problem. As stated in our text Voter turnout has remained well below that of other advanced democracies (Losco 2). In my personal belief, having half of eligible voters show up to vote is unacceptable, because it may result in major lifelong ramifications. I believe the lack of participation in voting, is resulting in people becoming elected, and laws getting past that most people are not aware of. I would have to strongly agree with the Greek philosopher Aristotle who felt that citizens should not simply sit back and enjoy the benefits of society; they must also take responsibility for its operation. These analyses are critically important as they are often used to enhance the firm s credibility in the larger marketplace; assist in determining its own creditworthiness; and comparing its performance to that of potential competitors. In examining company reports the focus is primarily on revenues (gross profit), and net income (earnings after expenses). For example, Apple Inc., might be interested in conducting a detailed evaluation of its revenue in order to isolate the amount being generated by various products (i.e., the sales of the iPhone compared to the iPad). The revenue report might even assist in identifying the underlying issue, such as lack of advertising, if there is a wide disparity in sales. Evaluating net income helps the financial manager ascertain the amount of profit that the company ultimately gained after expenses, such as manufacturing and advertising, are taken into account. He decided that he didn t want pay to him again. At school, Tyray came and asked Darrell about his money, but the teacher came in so Tyray went away. Darrell had to overcome his struggles with a bully named Tyray. What made this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These models, known as the Occupational based Models of Practice, guide Occupational Therapists in the care of clients (Cole Tufano, 2008, p. 87). These models have the guiding principles of occupation defined as, a basic human need, an essential component of human life, organizes behavior, gives meaning to life, enables a healthy lifestyle, and improves an individual s quality of life (Cole Tufano, 2008, p. 127). So while all of the models are similar in some aspects in terms of occupation, each model is unique in some aspects as well. The Person Environment Occupation Performance Model (PEOP) is one of the five models, incorporating a client centered approach to a person s occupations (Cole Tufano, 2008, p. 8). Focus The Peron Environment Occupation Performance Model was published in 1991 by Charles Christiansen and Carolyn Baum. This model is a client centered approach focusing on occupations, and how these occupations are meaningful to the client.
