Advantages And Disadvantages Of Wavelets
Wavelets, based on time scale representations, provide an alternative to time
frequency representation based signal processing. Wavelets are then represented by
dilation equations, as opposed to difference or differential equations. Wavelets
maintain orthogonality with respect to their dilations and translations. Orthogonality
of wavelets with respect to dilations leads to multigrid representation. Wavelets
decompose the signal at one level of approximation into approximation and detail
signals at the next level. Thus subsequent levels can add more detail to the
information content. The perfect reconstruction property of the analysis and
synthesis wavelets and the absence of perceptual degradation at the block boundaries
favor use of wavelets... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The same procedure is adapted to obtain one level 2 D DWT by using two vertical
filters as shown in Fig. 1. Implementation results are discussed in section 4. The
advantage of flipping method is it requires only four multipliers and eight adders
instead of eight multipliers and four adders to implement 9/7 filter compare to lifting
scheme. Main disadvantage of flipping is serial operation. In 1 D DWT of FA, odd
and even input samples are processed by five blocks namely пЃЎ, пЃў, пЃ§, пЃ¤,
пЃёпЂ (пЃё1 пЃё2)in the cascade manner.пЃё1 пЃё2are scaling blocks. Since the
output from one block is fed as the input to the next block, the maximum rate at
which the input can be fed to the system depends on the sum of the delays in all
four stages. The speed may be increased by introducing pipelining at the points
indicated by dotted lines Fig.3. In this case, the input rate is determined by the
largest delay among all four blocks. The delay in the individual stages may be
reduced further by using constant coefficient multiplier (KCM) which uses a look up
table (LUT) for finding the product of a constant and a variable. 2.2 Modified
Flipping Architecture Modified flipping architecture (MFA) is implemented using
MBW PKCM technique.
Casey At Bat Compare And Contrast
In the poem Casey at Bat and story David and Goliath, a comparison of David and
Casey shows differences and similarities. One similarity between Casey and David
is that they are both leaders. In the poem Casey at Bat it says, There was ease in
Casey s manner as he stepped into his place; There was pride in Casey s bearing
and a smile on Casey s face. And when, responding to the cheers, he lightly doffed
his hat, No stranger in the crowd could doubt twas Casey at the bat. Casey s team was
losing and to win the game Casey needed to hit a home run, so they were all
relying on him. In the story David and Goliath it says, 28 David s oldest brother
Eliab heard him talking with the soldiers. Eliab was angry at him and said, What are

And when one of them is dragged off by a lion or a bear, 35 I go after it and beat
the wild animal until it lets the sheep go. If the wild animal turns and attacks me, I

can kill this worthless Philistine. He shouldn t have made fun of the army of the
living God! 37 The Lord has rescued me from the claws of lions and bears, and he
will keep me safe from the hands of this Philistine. Since God helped David kill the
wild lions and bears to save his sheep, then he thinks that God will help him kill
this Philistine. In the poem Casey at Bat it says, There was ease in Casey s manner

Patriarchy In Gone Girl
Often times, the women are viewed as desirable objects or prizes. The notion that
women are viewed as possessions or desirable objects is often coupled with
feelings of being trapped by husbands or lovers who treat them as standard
equipment and by an institution marriage that makes such treatment possible. In
Gone Girl, when married to Nick, Amy felt she had to watch her diet and exercise
to maintain the perfect size two body and keep her hair long and blonde. When
playing the role of the good girl wife before she went missing, Amy played to
patriarchal genderstereotypes: the girl who was in style, the cool girl who is hot,
brilliant, funny, and never gets angry and lets their man do whatever he wants. As
soon as she gained freedom... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Neo noir films have been used to explore issues and progressive depictions of
gender, race and class. While it lacks racial or queer commentary, Gone Girl
exhibits class based social commentary. Both the lower and upper classes are
painted in a negative light. During her stay at a trailer park, Amy is robbed by a
pair of tattooed lowlifes that she befriended once they discover the stash of cash
she keeps hidden. Amy s wealthy parents are depicted as cold and manipulative,
while Amy s pretentious ex boyfriend Desi is made out to be pretentious and
potentially deserving of what he gets. The film also explores the tension and marital
issues that began to play out as the recession take Nick and Amy from upper middle
class bliss to unemployment and working class

Biodiversity, Or Biological Diversity
Biodiversity, or biological diversity, is a technical term that captures diversity of the
whole living world, from genes to individual species, through plant and animal
communities and entire biomes (Defra, 2010). In other words, biodiversity represents
genes, species, and ecosystems, which are the structural elements that are nestled
within each other, and their ecological functions, in an area (Cepel, 1997; Ozcelik,
2006).
Biodiversity provides the building blocks for our ecosystems to function, which
provide us with a wide range of goods and services that support our economic and
social wellbeing (Defra, 2011). For example, these include food, fresh water and
clean air, along with protection from natural disasters, regulation of ... Show more

Today, the effects of the changes caused by men can be felt by nearly 17,000
species of plants and animals that are face to face with extinction (Kucuk and
Erturk, 2013). This threat of the mass extinction of the species was recognised
several decades ago; however, since then, the best efforts have hardly done more
than slow the pace of the accelerating damage (Myers, 2003). More than a decade
after Myers (2003) made this point, Professor Sir John Lawton (2015) explains that
biodiversity loss is still getting worse, not better; pollution in the oceans is rising; the
planet seems to be running out of fresh water and its soils are degrading at an
alarming rate.
Essentially, the effects and total resource needs of human society were extremely
small for most of human history. Nevertheless, since the beginning of the Industrial
Revolution, society has been growing in size and technological power, causing an
ever growing impact on the biosphere, to the point that the ecosystems services that
society depends on are being degraded in ways that cannot be sustained (Robert et al.,
2012). This study demonstrates this sustainability challenge with a funnel metaphor
(Figure 1.1).
Figure 1.1. The funnel metaphor shows the systematic decline in options for society
The funnel metaphor shows our unsustainable society entering a funnel, which

Breast Magmentation Surgery
Breast augmentation surgery, also known as augmentation mammoplasty, is one of
the most commonly performed cosmetic surgeries. The procedure involves the use of
implants or fat transfer to increase breast size/volume. A major application for this
surgery involves reconstruction for patients who have undergone a mastectomy. Even
if done for reconstruction, all breastaugmentations are cosmetic. However, the
majority of health insurance providers do not cover costs of cosmetic surgeries, or
even complications due to surgery, because they are largely elective procedures.
Furthermore, some insurance companies may even refuse to pay for treatment of
breast disease in women who have received a breast augmentation. According to
plasticsurgery.org, the average cost of a breast augmentation is $3,708, with many
surgeons offering payment plans for the procedure.... Show more content on

During the actual surgery, the patient is under general anesthesia. An incision is
made in an area that will hide scarring and subsequently, the implant is placed
either under the chest muscle (sub muscular) or under the breast (sub mammary).
There are many types of implants but the most common are saline and silicone.
Implants are not indestructible however and may leak, but according to Dr. Scott
Haydon, silicone implants have a lower reoperation rate. A fat transfer breast
augmentation, in which fat is taken from the body and redistributed to the breasts,
may also be performed. After the implants are inserted, the incisions are closed and
the patient is moved to a recovery area. The patient may go home in a few hours, but
will continue recovering for one to two days followed by a few days of reduced
activity. As with any surgery, soreness is expected for a couple of weeks but as time
goes on, people become more and more satisfied with the
The Program For Homeless Veterans
In January 2014, approximately 49,933 American veterans were homeless on a given
night. This number represents approximately 11% of the entire homeless adult
population in the United States. Of those homeless veterans, 64% were reported to be
sleeping in an emergency shelter or transitional housing and 36% were living on the
streets or other places not meant for human habitation. Today, the federal government
has many programs targeted to end veteran s homelessness; however, the Department
of Veterans Affairs (VA) currently has only one program offering a permanent
supportive housing solution for homeless veterans the U.S. Department of Housing
and Urban Development (HUD) and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)
Supportive Housing program (HUD VASH). With this program HUD provides
eligible homeless veterans with a Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV), while
the VA provides clinical case management and supportive services through its health
care system. The purpose of this evaluation synthesis is to assess the HUD VASH
program s effectiveness in targeting limited resources to the needs of homeless
veterans today, as well as to provide specific policy recommendations so as to
improve the overall taxpayer value of this program.
Background
Homelessness has always been a social problem in the United States; however, it
only began to take precedence as an important policy problem to be solved by our
nation s lawmakers in the 1970s and 1980s. Homeless veterans initially
Literary Aspects Of The Cask Of Amontillado And
Hemingway...
One of the most important aspects of a work of fiction is the development and use
of characters. Edgar Allen Poe and Ernest Hemingway are two of the best writers
at developing intriguing characters that serve many purposes, and have
subsequently been analyzed for decades. Poe s The Cask of Amontillado and
Hemingway s Hills Like White Elephants are two prime examples of brilliant
character development and usage. Poe and Hemingway develop and utilize their
characters in varying ways. For example, while Poe s characters in The Cask of
Amontilladohave symbolic first names, Hemingway s characters in Hills Like
White Elephants do not even have their first names mentioned. Poe and Hemingway
prove in their respective works that characters can serve purposes far beyond simply
executing the actions that take place in the work. Poe gives the characters in The
Cask of Amontillado symbolic meanings with their names. In the romantic
languages, Montresor means to show fate while Fortunato, in Italian, means the
fortunate one . Much of Poe s brilliance is in his ability to give his characters
meaning without providing a background story. Robert Morsberger says, Readers
learn almost nothing about the background of the characters; one is told nothing
about their age, their families, their wives and children, if any, or their appearance
(Morsberger 1). In The Cask of Amontillado , Poe is able to give the reader
background information and symbolize the characters with the

sustainability is the business approach that formulates long term shareholder value by
grasping opportunities and controlling risks created from economic, environmental

The Secret to Humor is Surprise in The Weather of New...
Critical Analysis Essay The secret to humor is surprise Aristotle. The two stories I
m going to talk about The Weather of New England by Mark Twain and The Dog
That Bit People by James Thurber are both strange humorous essay with a twist.
Both stories have a central conflict, in The Dog That Bit People a family is burden
with a dog that bites everyone, including the narrator. The Weather of New
England talks about the weather of the new colonies and how spontaneous they
were and the different forms they came in. Both humorous authors use style, tone,
and perspective as a technique to tell their story and conflicts. Mark Twain uses
style in The Weather of New England , when he uses words like sumptuous and
Centennial to describe what s going on in the story. The author refers to the
weather as sumptuous saying that there are splendid and lavish varieties of the
weather of New England that cause a stranger to admire and regret or pity the
weather. He also says that the brightest gems in the New England weather is the
dazzling uncertainty. The authors uses words like dazzling to show his style. His
style is sarcastic because he makes the uncertainty of not knowing what the weathers
going to be as a good thing when really the unexpected weather is causing problems.
The author of The Dog That Bit People James Thurber on one hand uses hyperbole s
like Mark Twain ,but on the

Current position in the industry
Columbia competes with many different companies in the apparel industry. They
name a broad range of different companies manufacturing a very large number of
products, but their main competitor is VF Corporation, the holding company for
brand names The North FaceВ® and TimberlandВ® footwear. VF Corporation is
significantly larger than Columbia due to the additional brand names they carry in
the apparel sector but that do not directly compete with Columbia such as Lee jeans.
Columbia competes on a day to day basis with The North Face on product quality,
innovation, and fashion levels. Columbia has proven to be more innovative yet their
balance sheet shows a company with a more conservative approach to growth. VF
Corporation has been growing through aggressively purchasing or merging with
other companies (Timberland was their latest in July of 2011). Columbia is not
anathema to this strategy but they are slower and more deliberate in the process. A
complete comparison of company ratios can be seen in Exhibit 12. The table below

Gambling Is An Intriguing Human Activity
Gambling is an intriguing human activity. It changes individuals in many ways
and continues to develop increasingly since gambling was introduced. Gambling
has been a form of entertainment for many more years than it seems. During the
year of 1497, John Cabot found a native population who played a bunch of games
of chance . ( Gambling 101 ) Unfortunately, around 1892, all gambling activities
were banned by the Canadian criminal code. ( Gambling 101 ) As the years went
by, the rules became less strict, which gave the chance for numerous forms of
gambling to become legal. Since then, the growth and significance has highly
increased, it has even transformed into a popular pastime. ( Gambling 101 ) In
1989, Winnipeg was the first province in Canada to have a permanent casino (
Gambling 101 ). Within a small period of 14 years, 76 facilities were built which
offered gambling activities such as slot machines and even game tables. ( Gambling
101 ) Gambling has become an addictionwhich has been shown by many symptoms
and brought many negative impacts to people s lives. Thankfully, there has been
many ways of recovery found for this addiction.
The addiction of gambling doesn t come in any which way. Since everyone loves
winning, gambling can make certain individuals feel great. During the first try of
gambling, many people have beginners luck which is when some people start to
believe that their winning streak has begun. As a result, gamblers start spending a

The Worst Death Trap, Killing Fourteen Italian Immigrants
On March 13, 1900, a tenement building in New York City caught fire, killing
fourteen Italian immigrants. The poorly constructed frame building housed three
stories of tenement quarters, with ten apartments per floor. The rooms were five
by ten feet, separated only by flimsy half inch thick boards. With just one exit
through the entrance of the building, and that only by way of a 42 inch wide
stairway, their only escape was destroyed, leaving eleven families of caged victims
beyond help. People became so desperate that they jumped from upper balconies as
the firemen on the scene struggled to control the flames. The top floor proved to be
the deadliest, with a victim in nearly all ten rooms. After the arrest of a suspect and an

Connected to these changes were rapidly declining sanitary conditions in tenement
housing and rising prices. Immigrants came to America with visions of streets paved
in gold and a chance to rise through hard work. Americans who had lived longer in
the country and who harbored rabid anti immigrant sentiments greeted them with
derision and abuse. They saw immigrants as competition in an already dwindling job
market, and bearers of the dreaded Catholicism, socialism, communism, and other
foreign evils. Social Darwinism, in vogue at the time, only compounded the
problems of the poor. Darwin s work in animal dominance was translated into social
beliefs that benefitted successful businessmen and capitalist bullies. Social
Darwinism claimed that the wealthy were dominant because they were superior, and
the poor were so because they were inherently flawed. The effect of this theory was
that no help was offered to the poor because they deserved none, and there was no
call to level the playing field because the rich had triumphed through natural selection.
With more and more people pouring into the major industrialized cities, new arrivals
were forced (often tricked) into cheap and dirty tenement housing in the more
dangerous areas of town, in order to afford bare subsistence in a society already
glutted with humanity and twisted notions about nationality. Tenement fire stories

The Appropriate Rainforest
Like the tropical rainforest, the temperate rainforest is split up into layers. The
topmost layer is called the canopy, which is dominated by tall evergreen conifers
(trees that produce cones with seeds). Due to the heavy rain and mild temperatures,
these conifers enjoy maximum year round growth and reach record heights and
girth. Some examples would be the Costal Redwood (300 feet), the Douglas Fir (up
to 280 feet), the Sitka Spruce (230 feet), the Western Red Cedar (200 feet), and the
Western Hemlock (130 feet). Beneath the canopy is the understory. In this layer are
found the dogwood with its beautiful pink and white flowers, and vine maples. Ferns,
salal, and berry shrubs grow in the filtered sunlight beneath the small trees. On the

Open Nephrectomy: Nephrectomy (nephro = kidney, ectomy = removal) is the
surgical removal of a kidney. The procedure is done to treat kidney cancer as well
as other kidney diseases and injuries. The surgeon makes a cut (incision) in the
abdomen or in the side of the abdomen (flank area). A rib may need to be removed to
perform the procedure. The ureter (the tube that carries urine from the kidneyto the
bladder) and the blood vessels are cut away from the kidney and the kidney is
removed. The incision is then closed with stitches (National Kidney Foundation,
2015).

Violet, Klaus, And Sunny Baudelaire Summary
Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire were intelligent children, and they were

Baudelaire children received bad news from Mr. Poe that their parents had
vanished in a terrible fire. They had to live with a man named Coant Olaf; he was
a mean and stubborn man who has a tattoo of an eye on his left ankle, and only had
one eyebrow. Violet was the eldest Baudelaire who was a very smart girl and liked
to invent things, she had black hair with a purple ribbon and would put up her hair
when she was going to invent something. Klaus was the middle child and loved to
read and was very intelligent he wore glasses and had black hair. Sunny was a baby
like most babies and loved to chew on things she wore a yellow ribbon on the little
piece of hair that she had. Violet and the other two were going to his house and
met Justice Strauss a lovely and nice judge who lived next door to Count Olafs
house. Count Olaf said that he loved kids but the only reason he wanted to care for
the kids is because he wanted to marry Violet so he could get the Baudelaire fortune

Religious Iconography Essay
Religious iconography has been adopted by all religions around the world. In
general, Iconography is a symbolic image which implies the meaning of a particular
subject such as religious and legendary purpose ( Iconography , n.d.). For
iconography of art, the presence of things within the one single piece of art could
hugely convey a meaningful comprehension of a particular religionmore profoundly.
And that is considered as one of the significant reasons why artists put a lot of effort
to create an artwork with implication immersed in it. Because the more implications
will allow people to find more information in depth and understand that there are
numerous elements which we can refer to which finally those elements become an
iconof a particular religion. For artwork, there is no right or wrong understanding of
perceiving arts. In contrast, for religious iconography, the definition of each symbol is
fixed within their own meaning. As a result, within the word of Iconography, the
definition of it might be easier to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Not only do the characters not take themselves seriously, they also don t take
horror movies seriously. A day after the first murders take place, Sidney Prescott
receives a cryptic phone call. However, she is not frightened because she believes
the caller to be one of her own friends Randy, a movie lover, calling to harass her.
The mysterious caller asks her why she doesn t like horror films and she replies,
What s the point? They re all the same: some stupid killer stalking some big
breasted girl who can t act and is always running up the stairs when she should be
going out the front door. It s insulting. As an audience member, I realize that this
skeptical and often accurate view of horror movies is a message directly from the
film s writer and director (Riptov 86).
Later in the film, when Sidney suggests that the killer might still be on the loose,
her best friend Tatem replies, Don t go there, Sid. You re starting to sound like one
of those Wes Carpenter flicks. As the audience, we get a laugh out of this statement
because not only do we know that Tatem has misnamed Wes Craven, we also know
this is a Wes Craven flick. These scenes are like inside jokes for the viewers;

Summary Of The Gospel

Exegetical Paper Matthew 6:25 34
The Gospel according to Matthew is one of the main books that form the New
Testament, it is actually the first book of the New Testament. It tells the story of how
the Messiah, a Hebrew word meaning the Anointed One or a prophesied perfect king;
identified as Jesus, is rejected by Israel and decides to send his disciples to preach his
Gospels throughout the world. Mathew uses Mark as a reference throughout his
gospel; however, he focused on Jesus s teachings as much as his acts. The Gospel of
Matthew differentiates from Mark s Gospel, because Matthew goes back farther still,
to show Jesus as the Son of God from his birth.
According to Albright, in his book Matthew, he mentions that some of Matthews s
themes in his Gospel are the generosity, humility, putting aside wealth or any other
human characteristic (Albright, p. 81). In Matthew 6:25 34, the first paragraph
mentions how we should not overconcerned about anything in this life, followed by
the question ...Is not your life more than eating and drinking, and your body more
than clothing... (Matthew 6:25) Nowadays people tend to worry about many things,
and usually these concerns are because they want to fit society; people believe that
if they do not act, or wear clothes that are trendy, or simply if they are not doing
what society wants, they are going to be left behind. This is completely wrong.

Comparing Modest Proposal And Vanishing Middle Class

Warren argues that the middle class is the greatest ally of the poor. Swift argues
that the poor is dragging down the middle class, as the children of poor people are a
burden to their parents and country. His solution to help the poor have a better
economic status is by selling their children as food to the rich. Swift wants to get his
point through, that the landlords are becoming more rich, while the poor are not

In the reading, he stated, It is a melancholy object to those, who walk through this
great town,or travel in the country, when they see the streets, the roads and cabbin
doors crowded with beggars of the female sex, followed by three, four, or six
children, all in rags, and importuning every passenger for an alms (Swift Page 1).
What this means is that Ireland is becoming more overpopulated. These poor
families have to deal with their children, even though they can t afford to take care
of them. This matters because the children are more of a burden to the families
because they can t really do anything to help out their families situation. Swift
argues that mothers can t go to work due to the children, since they need to be
taken care of. Ireland is becoming more overpopulated due to the poor families
because they are having around four through six kids. This will eventually hurt the
whole economic system thus bringing down the middle class down. As well as the
whole country will be affected. Luckily Swift finds a solution to this problem, which
is selling their kids to the rich as
Religious Cult Research Paper
Media has often shown religious cults to be a form of devil worshipping or pagan
rituals. The reality is there are a multitude of religious cults ranging in varying
numbers of followers. All of them are potential dangerous, and can cause
consequences for the followers of their cult. Following a religious cult leads to a
dependence towards its teachings, conducting a cult s practices, and affecting society.
The most potent impact a religious cult can have on an individual is a dependence
towards the cult and its teachings. When one becomes brainwashed by a cult s
teachings and becomes a member, they become intrinsically attached to their false
teachings and ideas. Due to this, the cult can manipulate its followers for their own
agenda. As... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can include pagan sacrifices, self inflicted harm, and other bogus practices to
reach spiritual enlightenment . Also, cults may promote potentially dangerous
alternative medicines and other remedies. Furthermore, the cost for these remedies
could reach to thousands or even millions of dollars. Due to the influence of the
cult, these possible adverse effects become obscured to the cult followers. Perhaps
the most concerning consequence is that large cults can shape our very societies.
The baseless dogmatic ideologies taught by the cults affect the decisions of all the
followers of the cult. For example, if a large cult can delude their followers that
vaccines should be avoided, the repercussions can lead to the deaths of millions. If
such baseless ideas are rampant, it may even cause legislation to be made in
accordance to the bogus superstitions of the public. This extreme scenario gives a
glimpse of the dangerous outcome of religious cults. Although religion itself may not
be completely harmful, religious cults can potentially be destructive to individuals
and society. The infectious nature of religious cults can lead to unforeseen
ramifications. While the cult s exterior might appear to be promising, the interior
content only serves a dubious intent. Thus, if you want to avoid the baggage that
comes with a religious cult, and other superstitious jargon, skepticism towards the
opaque world is

Negative Effects Of Social Media And Smartphones
Social media and smartphones are the new types of addiction that cannot be
avoided in today s world because it is essential for everyday use such as for
communication, entertainment, and maybe a chance to have a separate life
through the apps that you chose to tap. Furthermore, the negative effects of social
media on a person s personality and characteristic is steadily increasing. For
instance, most people tends to act differently in person or when talking through
social media and sometimes most of them felt as if they are struggling to find their
own identity that s why they are boosting their confidence by copying their idols
from social media. These are called the social media creatures like the youtubers
who are got famous for making contents such as videos or skits where they share it
online for everyone to watch. Which builds up a sense of eagerness for teens to
strive and be like them because they felt like they need this to keep up and be liked
by other people around them since they know that most of the people love what
those youtube creatures do. That s why the creation of social media and
smartphones changed a generation s perspective on life itself. Its availability and
easy access resulted to many of the iGen group to hide their true identity. It opened a
completely different way of socialization which impacted most of today s youth.
This resulted to a growth on mental issues for, lack of face to face communication,
and a rapid increase in jealousy towards others.
Mental issues such as loneliness, depression, and the feeling of being worthless have
been around for so long, as long as the beginning of humankind. But in this time
period, wealth and failures in life is not the main cause of these issues. Instead, the
overuse of social media is the reason why sadness is occuring to most teens right
now. Almost every teen in their house today are in their rooms lonely and alone
while holding their phones trying to refresh if there s a new post or uploads of
people they follow. Social media gives most of the users the feeling of being
isolated to the society because they felt like they are living in a fake world while
looking through other people s bio or account in their smartphones. According to

The Characters Of Matilda And Elektra
It s Shakespearian, the method within the madness, justice to the wild woman. The
maenad who tears apart the beast who represents her god and eats the flesh raw. Her
throat bare, always sparking the wonder if she was mortal at all, the bride of fury.
This darkened femininity is an ancient concept, meant for the cold chill, the woman
veiled in madness and mystery, arriving in shadow. This is where The Monk and
Daredevilthrive with the characters of Matilda and Elektra Natchios who parallel
each other with the feminine sublime. The beginning of their similarity begins
with their natures and how they are written within their respective atmospheres
with clearly cause a mirroring effect. The darkness of Matilda and Elektra s
characters are first perceived in the way they weaved their ways into Ambrosio
and Matt Murdock s lives with a mirage of deception and manipulation, and this
develops as the basis of their relationships. This is first displayed in the first two
chapters of The Monk in the way Matilda works her way into Ambrosio s life as the
beginning of her control over him. Elektra enters as her own force of nature as well,
in Daredevil, she enters her first scene in the form of a shadow. The fourth episode,
the last second depicts her greeting him, sitting in his living room where she first
goes unnoticed by him, even with his supernatural abilities. Both women, are as well,
a distant figure of fascination. Matilda is highly aware of Ambrosio s captivation and

Gut Organisms
Technically, the term microbiome can refer to either the group of microbes living
within a larger organism or the genes within those microorganisms. In many cases,
when we talk about the microbiome, we really the microorganisms found in humans.
Although there are microoganisms in all our of tissues, we typically think of them in
terms of gut flora. Part of the reason for this is that the gut flora vastly outnumber
the microbes elsewhere in the body and are also much more diverse than average.
Another reason is that many of the flora found in the gut are known to be involved
in how we digest our food.
Compared to our understanding of most microbiota living on and in humans, our
understanding of our gut flora is relatively well developed. It is also an area where it
is common knowledge that there are microorganisms ... Show more content on

This is complicated by the need to try to exclude host DNA from the studies.
The microbes that make up the microbiome include bacteria, viruses, fungi and
archaea. Archaea were previously classified as bacteria, but new research has found
them to a distinct class of organisms, different from the other two main classes of
organisms. They were originally believed to live in only extreme environments, such
as volcanic hot springs, but they have proven to be much more flexible and abundant
than it was initially assumed. They are known to have a generally mutualistic
relationship to humans and to aid in digestion.
Some of our gut flora play a critical role in helping us digest certain things. For
example, they ferment dietary fiber into short chain fatty acids. They also play an
important role in creating vitamins B and K, as well as other important chemicals,
such as sterols. These play an important role in our immune function. Problems with
the gut flora are known to correlate to autoimmune disease and inflammatory

Sprint Cup Series cars are unique in automobile racing. The engines are powerful
enough to reach speeds of over 200 mph (320 km/h), but heavy weight coupled
with a (relatively) simple aerodynamic package makes for poor handling. Their
bodies and chassis are strictly regulated to ensure parity or equality, and electronics
are generally Spartan in nature. The idea for the Truck Series dates back to 1993.
A group of off road racers (Dick Landfield, Jimmy Smith, Jim Venable, and Frank
Scoop Vessels) wanted a bigger audience for truck racing. They made a prototype
for a NASCAR style pickup truck. These were first shown off during the 1994
Daytona 500, and four demonstration races were held during the season. The first
event at Mesa Marin Raceway had six trucks. The other three events were held at
Portland Speedway, Saugus Speedway, and Tucson Raceway Park. Tucson
Raceway Park held four events that winter, which were nationally televised during
the Winter Heat Series coverage. These trucks proved to be extremely popular, and
it led to NASCAR creating the series, originally known as the Super Truck Series in
1995.
The rules of NASACAR changed a lot in the years since NASCAR started. The
rules kept changing due to advancement in technology, which meant different rules
for safety. Some of the rules today are that NASCAR allows bump drafting (helps
drivers conserve gas) on restrictor plate tracks, no speeding on entrance or exit of pit

Paradaise Lost by John Milton Essay
PART ONE:
John Milton is the greatest poet of all time. Oddly enough, he wanted to be as
great as Homer or Virgil and be remembered like they were. Milton had this thing
called Photographic Memory, so he remembered everything he had ever read. He
even spends six straight years just reading every book he could get his hands on.
However, he ended up becoming blind because when he did read the only lighting
he had was candle light so he literally read his eyes out. Yet, this was before he
could do something great, so he rounded up his daughters and he had him write
down an epic poem he had written in his head. This poem his daughters penciled
down for him is known as Paradise Lost, a poem about the story of Adam and Eve

action of his justifiable. This draws to the conclusion that if people do bad deeds,
there will be consequences. However this still doesn t answer the question on why
good people are sometimes punished with disease and illnesses. Another key part of
theodicy from Paradise Lost is explained in the events that happen in the Garden of

As the years pass by, Andy develops a respect from his inmates and some of the
guards by using his banking skills and his education. By assisting the warden,
Samuel Norton, with his financial endeavors and trying to get a new library for
Shawshank, Andy is able to slowly gain favor with the prison s authority.
However, by helping the warden embezzle money, Andy does not realize that this
is reducing his chances of ever leaving Shawshank because the warden does not
want to get caught with his crimes. Andy is taken advantage of and placed in
solitary confinement, which further pushes him to find freedom that he secretly
has been planning all along. One morning, Andy s cell is empty and the warden
finds an escape route that Andy dug for twenty years with a rock hammer hidden
in his bible. In the end, Andy exposes the warden and moves to Mexico where Red
will meet him when his time in prison is complete. Hope is what Andy was fueled
by and is what gave both Red and Andy willpower to survive and seek for freedom.
In the movie Shawshank Redemption, social issues are evident and are portrayed
through different characters that are dealing with their individual desire for hope and
freedom, each having a different outlook on life. As the main character, Andy
Dufresne has a goal of finding his own identity within the prison of Shawshank by
taking on different responsibilities and roles. Becoming a prison librarian, a financial
advisor, and an educator, Andy begins to
Essay about Jazz
Jazz
Jazz is a type of music developed by black Americans about 1900
and possessing an identifiable history and describable stylistic evolution. It is rooted
in the mingled musical traditions of
American blacks. More black musicians saw jazz for the first time a profession.
Since its beginnings jazz has branched out into so many styles that no single
description fits all of them with total accuracy.
Performers of jazz improvise within the conventions of their chosen style.
Improvisation gave jazz a personalized, individualized, and distinct feel. Most jazz is
based on the principle that an infinite number of melodies can fit the cord
progressively of any cord. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During a period when most improvisers were satisfied simply to embellish or
paraphrase a tune, Armstrong himself was a master at both. Armstrong^s command
of the trumpet was arguable greater than that of any preceding jazz trumpeter who
recorded.
In actuality, the revolution initiated by Armstrong took place
in fits and starts, and with little fanfare at the time. After
Armstrong^s departure from the King Oliver Creole Band, over a year would
transpire before he would record as a leader. And even when those famous recordings
were planned the classic quot;Hot Fives quot; the record company considered
enlisting a better known leader to front the band. Most accounts stress that
Armstrong^s talents may have been neglected by the general public, but were amply
recognized by the musical community quot; his playing was revered by countless jazz
musicians, quot; runs a typical commentary but even this claim is suspect. Fletcher
Henderson, Armstrong^s first major employer after
Oliver, made the trumpeter accept a cut in pay to join his band. Many accounts
suggest that Henderson, in fact , preferred the playing of cornetist Joe Smith, And
that Armstrong was hired only because Smith was unavailable. Smith lacked
Armstrong^s rhythmic drive, yet his warm sound and ease of execution could hardly
be faulted and may have been better receive by the average dancehall patron.
Portrayal Of Television On The Age Of Show Business
Neil Postman, in his book Amusing Ourselves to Death Public Discourse in the Age
of Show Business, discusses the harmful effects television in a society that is
saturated by it (Postman, 29). As I read Neil Postman s book, I was given a new
point of view on the role of television in my search for news and entertainment.
Through Postman s writing I found that the consequences of televisionare not in the
information presented, but rather in how the information is presented. In addition,
after watching Conspiracy TheoryRock , a video presented on the television show
Saturday Night Live , this problem of unfair presentation from corrupt television
corporations was made clear through the depiction of untold controversies, such as
presidential assassinations ( Conspiracy Theory Rock ). I contest that the problem
with the corrupt presentation of television cannot be solved by revising the corporate
control, because it is unlikely to occur due to the financial power the corporations
hold. Instead, the way that television is consumed must be changed. The solution for
the biased and inaccurate presentation of television involves changing the way that
the viewer consumes the entertainment by critically considering the source and the
circumstance that the information is being presented in.
The solution for the corrupt television climate first includes viewers considering the
source of their information. Viewers need to be informed about the source of their
television in order to

  • 2. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Wavelets Wavelets, based on time scale representations, provide an alternative to time frequency representation based signal processing. Wavelets are then represented by dilation equations, as opposed to difference or differential equations. Wavelets maintain orthogonality with respect to their dilations and translations. Orthogonality of wavelets with respect to dilations leads to multigrid representation. Wavelets decompose the signal at one level of approximation into approximation and detail signals at the next level. Thus subsequent levels can add more detail to the information content. The perfect reconstruction property of the analysis and synthesis wavelets and the absence of perceptual degradation at the block boundaries favor use of wavelets... The advantage of flipping method is it requires only four multipliers and eight adders instead of eight multipliers and four adders to implement 9/7 filter compare to lifting scheme. Main disadvantage of flipping is serial operation. In 1 D DWT of FA, odd and even input samples are processed by five blocks namely пЃЎ, пЃў, пЃ§, пЃ¤, пЃёпЂ (пЃё1 пЃё2)in the cascade manner.пЃё1 пЃё2are scaling blocks. Since the output from one block is fed as the input to the next block, the maximum rate at which the input can be fed to the system depends on the sum of the delays in all four stages. The speed may be increased by introducing pipelining at the points indicated by dotted lines Fig.3. In this case, the input rate is determined by the largest delay among all four blocks. The delay in the individual stages may be reduced further by using constant coefficient multiplier (KCM) which uses a look up table (LUT) for finding the product of a constant and a variable. 2.2 Modified Flipping Architecture Modified flipping architecture (MFA) is implemented using MBW PKCM technique.

The notion that women are viewed as possessions or desirable objects is often coupled with feelings of being trapped by husbands or lovers who treat them as standard equipment and by an institution marriage that makes such treatment possible. In Gone Girl, when married to Nick, Amy felt she had to watch her diet and exercise to maintain the perfect size two body and keep her hair long and blonde. When playing the role of the good girl wife before she went missing, Amy played to patriarchal genderstereotypes: the girl who was in style, the cool girl who is hot, brilliant, funny, and never gets angry and lets their man do whatever he wants. While it lacks racial or queer commentary, Gone Girl exhibits class based social commentary. Both the lower and upper classes are painted in a negative light. Amy s wealthy parents are depicted as cold and manipulative, while Amy s pretentious ex boyfriend Desi is made out to be pretentious and potentially deserving of what he gets. Biodiversity, Or Biological Diversity Biodiversity, or biological diversity, is a technical term that captures diversity of the whole living world, from genes to individual species, through plant and animal communities and entire biomes (Defra, 2010). In other words, biodiversity represents genes, species, and ecosystems, which are the structural elements that are nestled within each other, and their ecological functions, in an area (Cepel, 1997; Ozcelik, 2006). Biodiversity provides the building blocks for our ecosystems to function, which provide us with a wide range of goods and services that support our economic and social wellbeing (Defra, 2011). Today, the effects of the changes caused by men can be felt by nearly 17,000 species of plants and animals that are face to face with extinction (Kucuk and Erturk, 2013). This threat of the mass extinction of the species was recognised several decades ago; however, since then, the best efforts have hardly done more than slow the pace of the accelerating damage (Myers, 2003). More than a decade after Myers (2003) made this point, Professor Sir John Lawton (2015) explains that biodiversity loss is still getting worse, not better; pollution in the oceans is rising; the planet seems to be running out of fresh water and its soils are degrading at an alarming rate. Essentially, the effects and total resource needs of human society were extremely small for most of human history. Nevertheless, since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, society has been growing in size and technological power, causing an ever growing impact on the biosphere, to the point that the ecosystems services that society depends on are being degraded in ways that cannot be sustained (Robert et al., 2012). This study demonstrates this sustainability challenge with a funnel metaphor (Figure 1.1). Figure 1.1. The funnel metaphor shows the systematic decline in options for society The funnel metaphor shows our unsustainable society entering a funnel, which represents the

The procedure involves the use of implants or fat transfer to increase breast size/volume. A major application for this surgery involves reconstruction for patients who have undergone a mastectomy. Even if done for reconstruction, all breastaugmentations are cosmetic. • 9. The Program For Homeless Veterans In January 2014, approximately 49,933 American veterans were homeless on a given night. This number represents approximately 11% of the entire homeless adult population in the United States. Of those homeless veterans, 64% were reported to be sleeping in an emergency shelter or transitional housing and 36% were living on the streets or other places not meant for human habitation. Today, the federal government has many programs targeted to end veteran s homelessness; however, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) currently has only one program offering a permanent supportive housing solution for homeless veterans the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Supportive Housing program (HUD VASH). With this program HUD provides eligible homeless veterans with a Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV), while the VA provides clinical case management and supportive services through its health care system. The purpose of this evaluation synthesis is to assess the HUD VASH program s effectiveness in targeting limited resources to the needs of homeless veterans today, as well as to provide specific policy recommendations so as to improve the overall taxpayer value of this program. Background Homelessness has always been a social problem in the United States; however, it only began to take precedence as an important policy problem to be solved by our nation s lawmakers in the 1970s and 1980s. • 10. Literary Aspects Of The Cask Of Amontillado And Hemingway... One of the most important aspects of a work of fiction is the development and use of characters. Edgar Allen Poe and Ernest Hemingway are two of the best writers at developing intriguing characters that serve many purposes, and have subsequently been analyzed for decades. Poe s The Cask of Amontillado and Hemingway s Hills Like White Elephants are two prime examples of brilliant character development and usage. Poe and Hemingway develop and utilize their characters in varying ways. For example, while Poe s characters in The Cask of Amontilladohave symbolic first names, Hemingway s characters in Hills Like White Elephants do not even have their first names mentioned. Poe and Hemingway prove in their respective works that characters can serve purposes far beyond simply executing the actions that take place in the work. Poe gives the characters in The Cask of Amontillado symbolic meanings with their names. In the romantic languages, Montresor means to show fate while Fortunato, in Italian, means the fortunate one . Much of Poe s brilliance is in his ability to give his characters meaning without providing a background story. Robert Morsberger says, Readers learn almost nothing about the background of the characters; one is told nothing about their age, their families, their wives and children, if any, or their appearance (Morsberger 1). In The Cask of Amontillado , Poe is able to give the reader background information and symbolize the characters with the

Both stories have a central conflict, in The Dog That Bit People a family is burden with a dog that bites everyone, including the narrator. The Weather of New England talks about the weather of the new colonies and how spontaneous they were and the different forms they came in. Both humorous authors use style, tone, and perspective as a technique to tell their story and conflicts. Mark Twain uses style in The Weather of New England , when he uses words like sumptuous and Centennial to describe what s going on in the story. The author refers to the weather as sumptuous saying that there are splendid and lavish varieties of the weather of New England that cause a stranger to admire and regret or pity the weather. He also says that the brightest gems in the New England weather is the dazzling uncertainty. The authors uses words like dazzling to show his style. His style is sarcastic because he makes the uncertainty of not knowing what the weathers going to be as a good thing when really the unexpected weather is causing problems. With just one exit through the entrance of the building, and that only by way of a 42 inch wide stairway, their only escape was destroyed, leaving eleven families of caged victims beyond help. Connected to these changes were rapidly declining sanitary conditions in tenement housing and rising prices. Immigrants came to America with visions of streets paved in gold and a chance to rise through hard work. Americans who had lived longer in the country and who harbored rabid anti immigrant sentiments greeted them with derision and abuse. They saw immigrants as competition in an already dwindling job market, and bearers of the dreaded Catholicism, socialism, communism, and other foreign evils. Social Darwinism, in vogue at the time, only compounded the problems of the poor. Darwin s work in animal dominance was translated into social beliefs that benefitted successful businessmen and capitalist bullies. Social Darwinism claimed that the wealthy were dominant because they were superior, and the poor were so because they were inherently flawed. The effect of this theory was that no help was offered to the poor because they deserved none, and there was no call to level the playing field because the rich had triumphed through natural selection. With more and more people pouring into the major industrialized cities, new arrivals were forced (often tricked) into cheap and dirty tenement housing in the more dangerous areas of town, in order to afford bare subsistence in a society already glutted with humanity and twisted notions about nationality. Summary Of The Gospel Estefania A Quintero Z REL 110 Dr. Michael Anthony Novak 2 November 2015 Exegetical Paper Matthew 6:25 34 The Gospel according to Matthew is one of the main books that form the New Testament, it is actually the first book of the New Testament. It tells the story of how the Messiah, a Hebrew word meaning the Anointed One or a prophesied perfect king; identified as Jesus, is rejected by Israel and decides to send his disciples to preach his Gospels throughout the world. Mathew uses Mark as a reference throughout his gospel; however, he focused on Jesus s teachings as much as his acts. The Gospel of Matthew differentiates from Mark s Gospel, because Matthew goes back farther still, to show Jesus as the Son of God from his birth. According to Albright, in his book Matthew, he mentions that some of Matthews s themes in his Gospel are the generosity, humility, putting aside wealth or any other human characteristic (Albright, p. 81). In Matthew 6:25 34, the first paragraph mentions how we should not overconcerned about anything in this life, followed by the question ...Is not your life more than eating and drinking, and your body more than clothing... (Matthew 6:25) Nowadays people tend to worry about many things, and usually these concerns are because they want to fit society; people believe that if they do not act, or wear clothes that are trendy, or simply if they are not doing what society wants, they are going to be left behind. What this means is that Ireland is becoming more overpopulated. These poor families have to deal with their children, even though they can t afford to take care of them. This matters because the children are more of a burden to the families because they can t really do anything to help out their families situation. The reality is there are a multitude of religious cults ranging in varying numbers of followers. All of them are potential dangerous, and can cause consequences for the followers of their cult. Following a religious cult leads to a dependence towards its teachings, conducting a cult s practices, and affecting society. The most potent impact a religious cult can have on an individual is a dependence towards the cult and its teachings. Also, cults may promote potentially dangerous alternative medicines and other remedies. Furthermore, the cost for these remedies could reach to thousands or even millions of dollars. Due to the influence of the cult, these possible adverse effects become obscured to the cult followers. Perhaps the most concerning consequence is that large cults can shape our very societies. The baseless dogmatic ideologies taught by the cults affect the decisions of all the followers of the cult. For example, if a large cult can delude their followers that vaccines should be avoided, the repercussions can lead to the deaths of millions. If such baseless ideas are rampant, it may even cause legislation to be made in accordance to the bogus superstitions of the public. This extreme scenario gives a glimpse of the dangerous outcome of religious cults. Although religion itself may not be completely harmful, religious cults can potentially be destructive to individuals and society. The infectious nature of religious cults can lead to unforeseen ramifications. While the cult s exterior might appear to be promising, the interior content only serves a dubious intent. Thus, if you want to avoid the baggage that comes with a religious cult, and other superstitious jargon, skepticism towards the opaque world is

In many cases, when we talk about the microbiome, we really the microorganisms found in humans. Although there are microoganisms in all our of tissues, we typically think of them in terms of gut flora. Part of the reason for this is that the gut flora vastly outnumber the microbes elsewhere in the body and are also much more diverse than average. Another reason is that many of the flora found in the gut are known to be involved in how we digest our food. Two of NASCAR s oldest races are the ones that are at Charlotte, North Carolina and Daytona international Speedways. Charlotte Motor Speedway was designed and built in 1959 by Bruton Smith. Sprint Cup Series cars are unique in automobile racing. The engines are powerful enough to reach speeds of over 200 mph (320 km/h), but heavy weight coupled with a (relatively) simple aerodynamic package makes for poor handling. Their bodies and chassis are strictly regulated to ensure parity or equality, and electronics are generally Spartan in nature. The idea for the Truck Series dates back to 1993. A group of off road racers (Dick Landfield, Jimmy Smith, Jim Venable, and Frank Scoop Vessels) wanted a bigger audience for truck racing. They made a prototype for a NASCAR style pickup truck. These were first shown off during the 1994 Daytona 500, and four demonstration races were held during the season. The first event at Mesa Marin Raceway had six trucks. The other three events were held at Portland Speedway, Saugus Speedway, and Tucson Raceway Park. Tucson Raceway Park held four events that winter, which were nationally televised during the Winter Heat Series coverage. These trucks proved to be extremely popular, and it led to NASCAR creating the series, originally known as the Super Truck Series in 1995. The rules of NASACAR changed a lot in the years since NASCAR started. The rules kept changing due to advancement in technology, which meant different rules for safety. Some of the rules today are that NASCAR allows bump drafting (helps drivers conserve gas) on restrictor plate tracks, no speeding on entrance or exit of pit

Milton had this thing called Photographic Memory, so he remembered everything he had ever read. He even spends six straight years just reading every book he could get his hands on. However, he ended up becoming blind because when he did read the only lighting he had was candle light so he literally read his eyes out. Yet, this was before he could do something great, so he rounded up his daughters and he had him write down an epic poem he had written in his head. Another option that was brought up was when they heard the news of a new planet that God had created, Earth that has been inhabited with humans. Satan immediately wants to check this place out, so he flies off to Eden. All of these events are a part of Theodicy starting with how God had banished Satan and his followers because they had rebelled against him making this action of his justifiable. This draws to the conclusion that if people do bad deeds, there will be consequences. However this still doesn t answer the question on why good people are sometimes punished with disease and illnesses. Another key part of theodicy from Paradise Lost is explained in the events that happen in the Garden of Eden. This is the place on Earth that has just been created by God. It contains every single animal in pairs as well as Adam and Eve, the first humans ever to exist. Adam was created before Eve and desired a partner, so God made Eve out of one of Adam s ribs. After Armstrong^s departure from the King Oliver Creole Band, over a year would transpire before he would record as a leader. Portrayal Of Television On The Age Of Show Business Neil Postman, in his book Amusing Ourselves to Death Public Discourse in the Age of Show Business, discusses the harmful effects television in a society that is saturated by it (Postman, 29). As I read Neil Postman s book, I was given a new point of view on the role of television in my search for news and entertainment. Through Postman s writing I found that the consequences of televisionare not in the information presented, but rather in how the information is presented. In addition, after watching Conspiracy TheoryRock , a video presented on the television show Saturday Night Live , this problem of unfair presentation from corrupt television corporations was made clear through the depiction of untold controversies, such as presidential assassinations ( Conspiracy Theory Rock ). I contest that the problem with the corrupt presentation of television cannot be solved by revising the corporate control, because it is unlikely to occur due to the financial power the corporations hold. Instead, the way that television is consumed must be changed. The solution for the biased and inaccurate presentation of television involves changing the way that the viewer consumes the entertainment by critically considering the source and the circumstance that the information is being presented in. The solution for the corrupt television climate first includes viewers considering the source of their information. Viewers need to be informed about the source of their television in order to
