3. Byzantium And Atonement
In each writer s work, the atonement with the father occurs through the hero or
heroine meeting the power that controls them, the power that motivates them to
complete their journey. The hero or heroine must confront and defeat the power that
controls him or her in order to procure wisdom that allows them to complete their
journey. In William Butler Yeats
Sailing to Byzantium, the atonement with the father
occurs when the aging man finally talks to the sages on the mosaic wall,
confronting the ultimate power that controls the aging man s life. Yeats illustrates,
O sages standing in God s holy fire/ As in the gold mosaic of a wall/ Come from the
holy fire, perne in a gyre, / And be the singing masters of my soul/ (17 20), which

The sages represent the father like figure that hold to power to life, which the aging
man requests from sages. As Simon O. Lesser, author of Sailing to Byzantium
Another Voyage, Another Reading, states, In this poem, it appears to be widely
believed, Yeats triumphantly confronts and liquidates his fears of aging and death....
[H]e discovers that engrossment in poetry is the only, but a sufficient, recompense for
the privatizations of old age (291), which Yeats reasoning for writing this poem: to
spread the message that anyone can live forever through their art. While the
narrator in the poem never officially possess a proper name, the poet Yeats writes
this poem to express his lack of fear for death after discovering that his memory
continues to live through all his poems. William Butler Yeats knows that he lives
forever through all those who continue to read and understand his poems, because his
works lives on in others. While Yeats never explicitly states this, the idea that poems
keep the poet alive forever derives from philosophical thought and reasoning, similar
to the aging man that visits the mosaic painting. Similar to the aging man in the
poem, Yeats searches for the sage like figures that provide the answer to death that
4. Operant Conditioning Methods And Research
Introduction
In the article, Operant Conditioning Methods Applied to Research in Chronic
Schizophrenia, a study is described where experimenters used operant conditioning
methods to analyze the behavior of non verbal, lowly motivated, chronic psychotic
patients. (Lindsley 118 119) Before this study can be understood, a brief description
of operant conditioning is necessary.
Operant conditioning was a method developed by B.F. Skinner in 1938. (121) Prior
to this year, Skinner became very interested in analyzing the behavior of laboratory
animals. He put the animal(s) in a small enclosure, free to do whatever they wanted.
Within the small enclosure, there was a device, such as a light switch, that the
animal could operate by turning it on and off. Every time the animal turned the light
switch on or off, an item that would reinforce the behavior of turning the light
switch on or off, such as a piece of food, would become available to the animal.
Skinner believed that by providing a reinforcing item to the animal every time it
displayed the desired behavior of turning the light switch on an off, the animal would
continuously display the target behavior.
Research Questions
Since 1938, operant conditioning has been used extensively by many different
professionals to control many different types of behavior. In the study in this article,
experimenters posed the question, How would individuals with schizophrenia behave
in an enclosed space with nothing but a stimulus

Another economic trait is that India is divided into three major zones: the dry
Deccan plateau, the coastal plains on either side of the Deccan, and the Gangetic
Plain in the north. The Deccan juts into the Indian Ocean as a plateau, which lacks
much of melting snow that leads into rivers and causes unproductive agriculture, arid
parts, and populated sparsely. The Gangetic Plain is watered by mighty rivers such as
the Indus River, Ganges, and Brahmaputra which carried melting snow from the
mountains. The coastal plains are below Deccan because its separation from low
lying mountain ranges, which contains the Eastern and Western Ghats and because of
the low lying mountains, farmers receive lots of rain water. In the Indus Valley there
is not many records to state how their society actually but artifacts such as pottery,
seals, weights, and bricks. Archeologists suggest that they show some type of
authority and governance, though it is not clear. Various theories have developed
over time such as that a single state surrounded all of the communities of the
civilization. It is supported by artifacts, standardized ratio of brick size, the evidence
of planned settlements, and the apparent establishment of sources near sources of raw
material. Also that there was no single ruler, but a number of rulers representing
different communities. Clues from statues and images on

Acid Base Titrations

Introduction:
Acids and Bases
The experiment involves with the investigation of the unknown solutions used and
the determination of their concentrations. The techniques and their expected
outcomes are elaborated further in detail in the following report. For the most part,
Arrhenius s definition of an acid and base is employed in this experiment as it is
sufficient for this case. Acid can be represented visually using this equation:
гЂ–HNOгЂ—_3 (aq)вџє H^(+ ) (aq)+ гЂ–гЂ–NOгЂ—_3гЂ—^ (aq)
As per Arrhenius s definition, HNO3 donates its H+. Likewise, the base has the same
underlying design. In this case, NaOH donates a hydroxide ion.
NaOH (aq)вџєгЂ–NaгЂ—^+ (aq)+ гЂ–OHгЂ—^( ) (aq)
Concentration
For determining the concentration of an acid, it is imperative that the amount (in
moles) of an acid being used is known that is being mixed with a certain amount of
water (in litres). The equation for concentration is:
Concentration (mol/L)=(amount of acid(mol))/(volume of water (L))
Safety Precautions:
The experiment deals with the use of organic solutions that are corrosive in nature,
the use of extra precautions is strongly advised. It is highly recommended that the
magnetic stirrer is not disturbed during the dissolution of different solution, as

him in a state of psychic trauma which craved love and attention. This attention he

The Global Automobile Industry in 2009
1To have a thriving and growing economy you have to have a strong manufacturing
base that is outputting quality goods in large quantities. In the case of the United
States much of the economy in the past has been built on housing sales and the
automotive industry. America s modern automotive industry is being hurt by two
things: Unionized labor and cheaper imports from Asia. Why build cars in North
America where unionized automotive wages are $20+/hour when you can build
them in Asia for less than $4/hour and still get the same quality? And in some cases

New rivals like Kia entered the market.
Import friendly areas added population, and sales grew faster than in domestic

The market for sport utility vehicles collapsed, hammering a profitable market the

12. False Imprisonment Without Legal Justification
I.Can Steven Bender demonstrate that Stan and Linda Kremer ( Kremers ) are liable
for false imprisonment when they sent him to the downstairs basement with no
access to phone service and would not allow his friends to come on to their property?
False imprisonment occurs when there is confinement without legal justification. The
elements of false imprisonment are the restraint of the plaintiff against his or her will
and the unlawfulness of the restraint. When looking at restraint against his/her will
the courts will look at whether the restraint was a total restraint of liberty with no
opportunity to leave. Walker v. Hanke, 992 S.W.2d 925, 935 (Mo. Ct. App. 1999).
This analysis will focus on whether Bender was restrained against his will.
A.Was Steven Bender restrained against his will when the Kremers ordered him to go
downstairs to the room he stayed in at their house without the opportunity to call his
friends or have the friends come over to help him move out?
Courts hold that restraint occurs with the total restraint of liberty and no opportunity
to leave. Id. In Walker, the court held that there was no confinement because there
was no total restraint of the plaintiff s liberty. Id. at 936. The court found that the
Hankes had built a fence around their yard at Mr. Walker s request. Id. at 935. After
the parties had a falling out about some settlement money, the Hankes placed chains

14. The Use Of Religion In The Novela Pedro Paramo By Juan
Rulfo
In the novela Pedro Paramo, Juan Rulfo uses religion as a symbol that contradicts
with the characters lack of morals and lack of faith. The town people of Comala are
obsessed with the thought of afterlife, pray and attending church regularly, but these
habits that have lost their true meaning. Rulfo uses these symbolic activities to make
the characters nihilistic and initialism natures more apparent. Father Renteria plays
the Godlike figure, being that he is the only priest in the novel allowing him to be
the mediator between life on earth and the afterlife. It is noticed in the ways people
come to him to receive forgiveness for their sins and wrong doings. At the scene of
Miguel Paramo s funeral, Father Renteria left without offering the final benediction
to the people who filled the church (25). The reasoning behind this was that Miguel
Paramo killed Father Renteria s brother and raped his niece, Ana. This left the people
of the service having the corpse weigh heavily on the soul of everyone present (25).
Father Renteria s occupation demands integrity, purity, and the power to believe his
own teachings. Father Renteria may have had those attributes, but it changed in his
time in Comala. The realization and consequences of his own change make him
question himself leading to the town to question not only him, but also their afterlife
future, givibg a perspective light on Comala s religious and psychological condition.

15. The Rise Of The American Revolution Essay
There have been many historians who have debated over the exact cause of the
American Revolution. The cause was certainly from conflict; the real question
however is whether or not that conflict came from the social classes within the
United States or from the tyranny of Britain. Historians who are more radical tend to
believe it came from class conflict, while more conservative historians believe it was
rooted in the need for independence from Britain. It is true that England had a role to
play in the American Revolution, however the problems between the classes was the
driving force. The radical historians that view history from the bottom up shape the
argument that the problems within the United Statesis what brought the need for the
revolution. One historian, Alfred Young wrote a couple different essays giving much
information about economic differences and the attitudes that were adopted by the
colonists at that time. How the difference in the class structure effected a shoemaker,
George Roberts Twelves Hughes, and how nervous and timid his initial meeting with
John Hancock was. However after being abused by those who thought themselves
better he began to partake in the revolution, this later changed his reactions to his
betters to where he would not so much as tip his hat to them. Young also discusses in
another essay about the creation of the constitution, and the bargains that the
Founding Fathers had made in order to see it ratified. The elite s compromises

This paper will discuss my reflection to the interview session that I had with Pastor
Stephen Paulsen. Stephen Paulsen is the high school Pastor at Venture Christian
Church. He has been a high school Pastor for about 13 years. Stephen has started his
ministry at Venture Christian Church since August 2014. Before working at Venture,
He began his first ministry in serving the high schoolstudents in South Carolina. He
has four kids (three boys and one daughter) and a beautiful wife. This paper will
reflect on the answers that I got during the interview, according to his experience in
his ministry.
The Next Generation Ministry Stephen s tasks for his ministry at Venture is to lead

respond to God s calling in his life by taking seminary in Moody Bible Institute,
Chicago. He noticed the calling of God in his life since he was young. Another task
in being the high school student Pastor at Venture is to be involved in the outreach
ministry on the weekdays. His vision for the ministry is to see these students grew in
their relationship with Jesus since they were little. Stephen believes in the power of a
healthy community. That is why, besides the regular service on Sunday at 11 am,
they also have a small group meeting for the students every Tuesday. The meeting will
focus more on building a deeper relationship with the students by spending the time
with them, to have a fellowship, and get to
17. Queen Elizabeth Essay
Queen Elizabeth was born on September 7, in 1533 to a royal couple by the name
of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. She pertained a strong personality and strong
political skills in overlooking marriage proposals and intensely flirting with many
available suitors. She reigned over England without a king or children (Britannia:
Elizabeth 1). Her father was known for the execution of his wives. The king had
announced that any daughter would be illegitimate to the line of succession because
his upcoming sons would be highly favorable to the throne (Thomas, Heather). Anne
Boleynwas killed by the king for not providing him with a son, but a daughter who
would live to be a legend of English times (Thomas, Heather).

Whether this was true or not, Elizabeth was arrested and put in prison. She was

Mary I started to become ill, her husband, Philip of Spain, called Elizabeth out of
prison to develop a friendship with her, since she would take the throne when Queen
Mary I would die (Putatunda, Rita).
According to Green, this coronation to the throne took place on January 15, 1559.
The new queen started to take advantage of all the new opportunities. She started
horseback riding more. She also took up hunting and hawking and enjoyed
watching jousts and theatre (Green, Robert 53). Elizabeth was also strong in her
Catholic beliefs. Heather Thomas writes that she reestablished a Protestant Church
and became the Supreme Governor of the Church of England, which was to please
those attending (Thomas, Heather). Britannica states that she was a Conservative
Protestant. She liked traditional style of worship and did not believe in executing
people for their religious beliefs (Britannia Encyclopedia Elizabeth I). Marriage
proposals became a daily routine. Regard her beliefs for the matrimony; she used
the proposals to frighten enemies or to even draw them in. However, she came close
to marriage twice in her reign (Putatunda, Rita). One of which was a near proposal

Helium (Greek helios, quot;sun quot;), symbol He, inert, colorless, odorless gas
element. In group 18 of the periodic table, helium is one of the noble gases. The
atomic number of helium is 2.
Pierre Janssen discovered helium in the spectrum of the corona of the sun during
an eclipse in 1868. Shortly after it was identified as an element and named by the
chemist Sir Edward Frankland and the British astronomer Sir Joseph Norman

chemist Sir William Ramsay, who discovered it in cleveite. In 1907 Sir Ernest

At a temperature slightly above absolute zero, it is transformed into helium II, also
called superfluid helium, a liquid with unique physical properties. It has no freezing
point, and its viscosity is apparently zero; it passes readily through minute cracks.
Helium 3, the lighter helium isotope, which has an even lower boiling point than
ordinary helium, exhibits different properties when liquefied.
Helium is the second most abundant element in the universe, after hydrogen;
however, it is rare on earth, primarily found mixed with natural gas trapped in
underground pockets. Once helium is released it is so light it escapes the earth s
atmosphere and cannot be recovered. At sea level, helium occurs in the atmosphere
in the proportion of 5.4 parts per million. The proportion increases slightly at higher
altitudes. About 1 part per million of atmospheric helium consists of helium 3, now
thought to be a product of the decay of tritium, a radioactive hydrogen isotope of
mass 3. The common helium isotope, helium 4, probably comes from radioactive
alpha emitters in rocks. Natural gas, which contains an average of 0.4 percent helium,
is the major commercial source of helium. By far the largest users of helium are
agencies of the United States government.
III USES
Because it is noncombustible, helium is preferred to hydrogen as the lifting gas in
lighter than air balloons; it has 92 percent of the lifting

Comparing Carbohydrate Requirements for the Atkins Diet and the Food Pyramid
Guide
Carbohydrates are an organic compound that serves as a major energy source for the
body (Dictionary.com).
These carbohydrates convert to sugars that trigger insulin production, which our body
needs for certain processes, and triggers fat storage (Health Doc.com).
According to the Institute of Medicine, adults should get 45 to 65 percent of their
calories from carbohydrates. That is roughly seven servings based on a 2000 calorie
diet. At least one of the two carbohydrate diet plans states something different.

What is the benefit of this small consumption amount of carbohydrates? The Atkins
diet is supposed to efficiently switch your body from a carbohydrate burning

unstable blood sugar, such as fatigue, mood swings, brain fog and an inability to

The Food Pyramid recommends that you eat six to eleven servings of
carbohydrates a day. Six to eleven servings a day is roughly 120 to 220 grams of
carbohydrates that a person can consume a day. This is a steady recommended
amount that doesn t change.
The amount of carbohydrates is recommended because these carbohydrates help to
maintain cardiovascular health, supply the body with the energy it needs to function

a professor was spent studying number theory. Cantor is known as the first
mathematician to understand infinity. Infinity in and of itself is not a number. It
means something that goes on forever with no end. It is the idea of being endless
and going on forever. The idea of infinity never ends because you can always add
one. Cantor s work suggests that there are different kinds of infinity and some
infinities are bigger than others. If we attempt to list all natural numbers, or all
decimals, or fractions, we discover that it is impossible to list all the numbers that
lie between. For example, on a number line from zero to one, if you attempted to
list all the different sets of numbers in whatever form (i.e. fractions, decimals, etc.),
you could not list them all. It is impossible. Cantor was ridiculed for attempting to
place precision on the idea of infinity by all of his contemporaries because it was
such a complex topic. He was ridiculed so heavily that he eventually was diagnosed
with a mental illness and died having made no known contribution at the time. The
concept of infinity in the Cantor set became so small that it came to be known as the
Cantor Dust that is referred to in The Number Devil: A Mathematical Adventure. The
idea is that in order to create Cantor Dust, you start with a line segment and divide it

21. The Drug Crime Link Between Crime And Crime
There is a popular widespread belief in the media, politics and society that illegal
drugs and addiction to illegal drugs, in general, is the cause of a significant
proportion of crime (Seddon, 2000). This idea has exerted an increasingly strong
hold on drug policies around the world (Bean, 2008), including New Zealand. The
drugcrimelink refers to the argument that crime is one of, if not the major,
consequent problems of drug use (Bean, 2008), essentially, crime is a problem that
arises from drug use and drug use can arise from crime also. Drugs and crime are
consistently related to each other in a number of studies, however, despite popular
belief, the connection between the two are far too complicated to summarise as a

The drug crime link is incredibly complex and can not be simply summarised as a
straightforward relationship between the two. The prevalence of drug use and the
prevalence of crime is hard to measure and there is also a possibility that other
factors influence both drug use and crime (Hammersley, 2008).
Drug use is a largely illegal activity consequently making it extremely difficult to
measure (Bean, 2008). There are a lot of problems measuring the prevalence of
drug use in society as it mainly hidden away to avoid prosecution. Coomber et al.
(2013), indicates that in the last 50 100 years drug use around the world has had
an enormous growth and around five percent of the world s 15 64 year old
population had used an illicit drug at least once in the past twelve months, and
additionally this seems to be more or less the case for the recent past history. This
essentially indicates that quite a number of the population have used an illegal
drug recently. If this is the case, wouldn t crime be a bigger problem in the world?
Both crime and drug use are hidden to a certain extent, known as the dark figure
where certain crimes are committed but there are no offences that have been
officially recorded (Higgins and Marcum, 2016). Even with prevalence studies and
research, no one knows the exact figure of how many people are involved, or how
23. Cost Control in Health Maintenance Organizations Essay
An HMO is an organized health care delivery system, which provides health care to
its members through networks of doctors and hospitals. Rather than traditional health
plans, HMO s cost less. Two ways HMO s control costs are: controlling hospital
admission and length of stay, and by providing incentives to physicians. These two
cost control methods are further examined by an article published by The National
Bureau of Economic Research (2002). The article examines the incentives to
physician strategy for reducing utilization cost. The Physician Guide to Managed Care
(1994) describes HMOs the case management procedures used to control cost through
hospitallength of stay and admissions.

Bonus levels are determined on the basis of performance, as performance improves
the bonuses gradually become higher. HMO s rely on rates and member satisfaction
survey results to measure provider performance. By keeping a certain level of
member satisfaction, more revenue can be brought in through new enrollees.
Financial incentives are generally more influential when it comes to physicians
improving quality of care. According to the National Research Council (2001),
research regarding payment and quality improvement efforts of health care
administrators was presented at an Institute of Medicine Workshop in April of 2004.
The research showed ,with the use of physician incentives the total direct savings in
health care cost which include reduce visits and hospital episodes was an estimated
net savings of about 2,000 per patient. For more than 13,000 diabetic patients
managed by a physician group it was projected that the savings had the potential to
generate over $10 million in net saving per year. Aligning financial incentives with
physician s networks provides the achievement of better patient outcomes, but
generally provides the HMO cost control over their equity.
HMO s utilize the process of controlling hospital admission and length of stay as
another form of cost control. According to Nash (1994), in order to minimize
hospital length of stay, the HMO arranges in advance for care to

Mexico was once the locations where large colonies of monarch butterflies migrated
to. However in the recent years the size of the colonies have began to shrink. The
monarch butterflies tend to hibernate in the winter in reserve forests. It is believed
one reason for the decline of monarch butterflies migrating to the reserve forests in
Mexico is because of the number of insects in these forests had increased along with
the destruction of these forrest. Another reason for monarch butterflies migrating to
these different areas is to follow their food source which is the milkweed. The
milkweed was at one time found in large numbers through out Canda. However due to

The De Beers Company is one of the wealthiest companies in the world. De Beers

These stockholders do a great job planning on how to keep the company making
big profits. This gives these stockholders lots of control. De Beers has done a great
job expanding their markets and making sure those places have high demand for
their product. In an article on Telegraph.co.uk, Josephine Moulds states De Beer s
sales in the Middle East, India and Asia drove pre tax profits up 74% to $1 billion in
the first half (Moulds, 2011).
The governments in the diamond industry have a lot of control what the companies
can do. When mining diamonds many of land and resources are used. Governments
have to take the interest of their people and also take into account what impact the
diamond industry has on the local environment. In the country of Angola diamond
mining has had a huge impact. Brilliantearth.com states irresponsible diamond
mining has caused soil erosion, led to deforestation, and forced local populations to
relocate (Brilliant Earth, n.d.). Governments also have to regulate labor laws for their
country. In some countries diamonds are mined by small children in unsafe
conditions. These responsibilities fall under the local government to protect the land
from these mining companies. Local governments can write laws and regulations
require diamond mining companies to take extra precautions in order to operate.
This could require the diamond company to decide is it worth it to follow these
regulations or find a cheaper place to mind

When the word poetics is used, poetry and roses are often what come to mind.
However, poetics can be any form of entertainment. Aristotle is talking about drama
and plays specifically, and in today s world, he would be talking about movies.
Several movies are released in theaters every week. There is a variety of genres,
including drama, thriller, horror, comedy, and romance. Aristotle creates the basis for
all critiques and judgments of drama in his essay Poetics. Aristotle creates this idea of
a good drama that still can be applied to modern film today. After Aristotle s death, his

These kids are indeed the protagonists of the storyline. They are extremely relatable
characters in both their fears and tribulations. In the beginning of the film, Georgie is
afraid of the dark, and must conquer his fear to retrieve some wax from the cellar.
Nothing was there when Georgie went into the cellar, but he thought there was
something there because his fear made his brain imagine that something was
hiding in the dark. The movie does not start off with jump scares and creepiness
like a majority of horror movies. Rebecca Lewis praises the movie when she writes,
Director Muschietti uses horror tropes such as the young boy afraid of the dark
empty cellar and the pouring autumnal rain to put you on the edge of your seat
before you ve even met Pennywise the Dancing Clown, (Lewis). By starting the film
off this way, Muschietti creates an environment that almost every person to watch the
film could relate to. Most people used to be afraid of the dark when they were young.
Georgie s fear of the dark enticed the audience, bringing them into the experience and
reminding them of their own fear of the dark. This is an extremely clever device used
by King and Muschietti to captivate the audience. Aristotle comments in Poetics that
the audience can relate to the protagonist through fear. Joe Sachs comments that, Fear
can obviously be an insidious thing that undermines life and poisons it with anxiety,
(Sachs).

Streptococcus Pyogenes is a gram positive facultative anaerobic bacterium. It is
also known as a beta hemolytic group A streptococcus or Lancefield Group A
streptococcus. Streptococci are round, spherical bacteria that grow in pairs or
chains. Most microbiologists will say under the microscope they look like a string

responsible for several other diseases as well as some post streptococcal infections.
The invention and advances made with antibiotics are greatly decreased the effects
of Streptococcus Pyogenes. Strep Throat is an infection of the tonsils and pharynx.
Its symptoms include: sore throat, high fever, chills, headache, swollen lymph nodes
and trouble swallowing. This disease usually effects school aged children. It is very
contagious, and is spread through close contact with those individuals coughing and
sneezing. Once strep is identified as the pathogen, with a rapid strep test, the doctor
will prescribe a drug in the penicillin family as treatment. Penicillin attacks the cell

32. Positron Emission Tomography Report
Introduction
Positron emission tomography is used for research and medical diagnosis of soft
tissue in humans and animals. It uses radioactive drug tracers that are swallowed,
injected, or inhaled into the body, to produce radioactive emissions that are then
detected with a computer tomographer (Mayo Clinic 2013). This computer
tomographer creates an image much like a camera makes an image on film, when
exposed to light (Denniston 2014). The scans are then used to produce three
dimensional images that provide information on a targeted body system. When
interpreting the images, diseased areas of an organ, are identified by dense regions
of the radioactive drug tracer. Some of the area s of the body commonly scanned are

The radioactive isotopes are atoms with the same number of protons and electrons,
but a different number of neutrons and atomic weight, and are described as have an
unstable nucleus. The radioactive isotope produces gamma rays when it undergoes
beta plus decay, also know as positron emission, occurring after the radioactive
isotope undergoes change inside the nucleus. This change starts when an atom s
proton is converted into a neutron inside the nucleus resulting in the loss of a
positive charge, and a small amount of mass being lost. This mass is referred to as a
positron. Then the positron after release collides with an electron and annihilation of
the particles occur, producing two gamma rays. These gamma rays are the radioactive
emissions that are then detected by the imaging machine. Isotopes with a short half
life are selected for positron emission topography, and generally take around 18 20
min to decay inside the body. Some of the common isotopes that are used in the
radioactive drug tracers are chromium 51, technetium 99m, thallium 201, xenon 133,
barium 313, strontium 87 (Denniston
33. Connectivity And Its Discontent By Sherry Turkle
All advantages have corresponding disadvantages. Sherry Turkle s essay Connectivity
and its Discontents address her stance towards technological communication.
Throughout her essay, she provides examples that illustrate how the world is
consistently depending on technology for communication. Turkle s opinion towards
the issue is that, she believes we ll eventually sacrifice communicationfor mere
connection. Her examples make the reader consider that technological
communication leads to human beings losing intensity in communication in both
personal and professional situations because of distraction and convenience. The
twenty first century widely introduced a variety technological advancements which
made people rely often on the technology. Thinking back to her opinion towards the
issue I would agree with the idea that humans are becoming too attached to
technology, but I would disagree that technology draws a wedge between people.
Having an environment that is advancing daily in technology makes communication
everyday easier for people. It expanse the availability for communication for the
people who are in different countries, gives them the ability to communicate in the
comfort of their own home. For an instant, my mother lives here in the United States,
but her family lives in Mexico, therefore, communicating face to face is inconvenient
for them unless she flies to them. Technology has made my mother connect more
with her family due to appreciating every moment

Kinesins: Similar to dyneins, kinesins use microtubules to transport cargo along,
and they use the chemical energy of ATP to drive conformational changes that
generate motile force. Based on observations made using electron microscopy, five
major kinesin families were initially discovered in the mouse brain5, 6. It is now
thought that there are 45 mammalian KIF genes, but there could be twice as many
KIF proteins as multiple isoforms can be generated by alternative mRNA splicing7.
KIFs constitute 15 kinesin families, which are termed kinesin 1 to kinesin 14B

Metaphase is a dynamic situation (Figure 1b iv), in that chromosomes oscillate
around the metaphase plate, reflecting a dynamic balance of pushing and pulling
forces (Helmke et al., 2013). Moreover, even though metaphase chromosomes are
held under tension while they are attached to both poles, there is a constant poleward
flux (treadmilling) of tubulin in the kinetochore MTs. This indicates that tubulin
subunits are constantly added at the kinetochores and lost at the centrosomes.
During anaphase A (when chromosomes move towards the poles; Figure 1b v),
chromosomes are pulled towards spindle poles by MT shortening at kinetochores
(depolymerisation of MT plus ends) and the poleward flux (depolymerisation at MT
minus ends); the relative contribution of these two forces varies between cell types
(Walczak and Heald, 2008). During anaphase B (when poles move apart; Figure 1b
vi), elongation of polar MTs results from the pushing force generated by kinesin 5
motors located in the zone of MT overlap. In addition, dynein motors located at the
cortex contribute to pole separation by pulling on astral MTs. Both of these latter
mechanisms are reminiscent of those that appear to separate centrosomes at

The ecosystem health indicators strongly influenced by land use.( 7)
The most impact of land use is sedimentation and water quality.
Sedimentation
The deforestation, agriculture, resource extraction, urbanization, and infrastructure
development have a greater influence on erosion rates and sediment transport in rivers
which directly affect for climate change.
All these activities impact on sedimentation process of the River in different ways.
Assessing these impacts comprehensively is important for more effective
environmental management of the river drainage basin. The natural vegetation has
been destroyed by humans and slope lands have been cultivated. Thus, erosion is
extremely high, and suspended sediment load and concentration in river. The
sedimentation, the level of riverbed has risen continuously and the water level at a
given discharge so for maintain that scientist build artificial levees higher and higher.
However, in the meantime, with the rapid development of agriculture and industry,
water consumption has increased sharply, greatly reducing the river flow. Sediment
deposition in river channel depends on the relationship between the ability of the
stream flow to carry sediment and the river s load i.e., on the amount of sediment
supplied to the river from the drainage basin. Erosion and sediment control measures
reduce the amount of sediment entering the river, resulting in a
36. The Gender Paradox Of Suicidal Behavior
The Gender Paradox of Suicidal Behaviour There is a significant disparity in suicide
rates between males and females; more specifically, the rates of attempted and
completed suicides are unbalanced. Studies conducted by CDC in 2015 show that
males are nearly four times as successful in completion of suicidethan females;
however, the prevalence of suicidal thoughts is much higher among females than it
is among males as shown in the 2013 research by SAMHSA (29). So if women are
more likely to experience suicidal thoughts and attempt suicide, why are men
more likely to actually die from suicide? A biological study found that lower
serotonin and higher dopamine levels in males causes them to be more depressed
and impulsively act, therefore increasing the suicide rate (Kumpula). Other studies
try to explain this without the interference of genetic differences. MoЕ›cicki
reports that this paradox is due to the differential rate of depression and alcohol
abuse between the genders (156). Canetto and Sakinofsky say that it is
predominantly a cultural aspect, that is, different suicidal behaviours are expected
of females and males (1). Callanan and Davis attribute this to the lethality of the
methods chosen by men and women (Social Psychiatry and Psychiatric
Epidemiology 857). In this essay, I will be exploring Callanan and Davis theory to
explain the higher rates of suicide in men, despite not attempting it as often as
females. Men comprise 77.9% of all suicides (CDC 1) and

Inner Rings and the Motives that Come Along C.S Lewis delivered a speech named
The Inner Ring at King s College, a University in London. As Lewis continues on in
his speech, one may be a little thrown off by what these inner rings are and what
exactly they mean to people. Although Lewis mentions both good and harmful inner
rings, one could argue that most people find themselves so caught up in these inner
rings they do not even realize they are trying to be involved in them for the wrong
reasons. Some people strive to have a certain appearance that comes along with being
involved in these inner rings that they tend to forget what really is important to them.

Some of these inner rings are the reason we have competition, jealously and spite
in the world. It is not right for one to feel left out just because they do not have
certain traits or don t have the same views as another. Lewis even acknowledges
this with his passage, Unless you take measures to prevent it, this desire is going
to be one of the chief motives of your life, from the first day on which you enter
your profession until the day when you are too old to care (Lewis 152). An
example of today s inner ring would be fraternities at Colleges. People who aren t
part of a certain fraternity would feel left out when they see the Frat s doing
activities only Frat members are allowed to do. This might make one feel the need
to fit in and do certain things they do not enjoy just to be accepted in a fraternity.
Although this particular example does not apply to everybody, it still does not hide
these inner rings because they can be found everywhere.
Arroyo 4
Another example of an inner ring existing is social class in itself. Rich hang out with
the rich, poor hang out with the poor. People obviously have different
circumstances that make their social class rich or poor, but the ring still exists.
Lower class people feel left out when they see the upper class driving nicer cars,
eating expensive dinners, and living in expensive homes. While on the other end,
lower class workers are living pay check to

With the increasing rate of technology in our everyday lives, cyber bullies have

getting help for individuals. Teach your kids how to properly behave online and let

real life playground bullying (Strom and Strom). The fear factor of anonymity is
increased (Beale), it is much harder to track down the real oppressor, and cyber
bullies often do not see how much emotional pain they can cause (Strom and Strom).
Consequences are always a big debate with bullies too, and no one should punish

Everyone needs to know what to do incase they, or anyone they see online, are being

excitement for getting an opportunity of traveling by bus. The day was fixed for the
journey.
Beginning of journey: I reached the bus station by rickshaw. A Bus ready to leave for
Khulna. It was full to it is capacity. I got into the bus and took a seat by the window.
The time of the bus to leave the station came up. The guard blew the whistle and the
bus started moving with a jerk. It was my first journey by bus.
Sights enjoyed: Bangladesh is the darling child of nature. There are enchanting
sights, sounds colors and scenery all around her. The bus was running with full
speed. There were the sights of trees and houses, hedges and bridges, mills and
factories, men and animals on both the sides of the road. They all appeared to
move back ward in the twinkle of an eye. the tall trees with green leaves over head

The scenic beauty of the village charmed me greatly. It was very sweet to me to
took into the fair and open face of the village from the bus. A vise saying then
came into my memory, god made the village and mane made the town. It was now
evening. The sun was going down. It looked like a large boll of fire. The cow boys
were found moving home ward driving their cattle. Birds were seen returning to
their nests by rows. The last rays of the setting sun fell on the green fields and
produced an unforeseen sight. It filled my heart with great joy and excitement. I
could enjoy the majesty of the setting sun and the pathos of darkness and patches of
cloud floating in the sky were all very charming. I thought, I got myself almost lost in
a dreamland and forget the world around
43. My Internship At The Richland County Public Defender s...
Introduction
My internship is at the Richland County Public Defender s Office and I work
directly with two juvenile defense attorneys. My office is at the Richland County
Judicial Center. This position is very new and I am the second person to have this
internship at USC, so defining my position is very complex. I do not have an on site
social work supervisor to turn to when I have questions, so, I have to figure out a
lot of things on my own. Being that I work directly with the attorneys, a lot of
things I see on the daily are on the legal side and not the social worker side per se.
However, the attorneys involve me in the entire process when working with each
client to provide a social work perspective to better help the clients and increase the
quality of their services. Some of my duties involves researching client information,
searching for services and resources for the clients and families, examining IEPs for
the attorney and clients, visiting clients while they are in secure locations, attending
interagency staffing for clients, advocating for clients and the services they need, and
many more tasks. Every day is different and provides multiple opportunities to meet
with other professionals and clients.
Clients Case Summary
Since I started in August 2015, 100% of my clients have been Africa America
teenage or youth adult males in Richland County of Columbia. All of them had or
have some criminal charges against them: some are awaiting trial or hearings while in
44. Why Was The Nile River Important
We have the world filled with people, towns, cities, and tons more stuff, but what
really covers two thirds of the Earth surface is water. When the world adds more
populations in our world than our water sources increases. In our world, we have so
many rivers and oceans, but the one river that is fresh and produces water the most is
the Nile River.
Information about the Nile River... Located in Egypt is the world s longest river called
the Nile River. The Nile River flows down to 4,132 miles in northward to the
Mediterranean Sea. We have all types of rivers flowing in different directions, but
the Nile River is an unusual direction for a river to take. The Nile River has made
Ancient Egypt popular, so if it wasn t for the river, then it may ... Show more content

The Nile River is in jeopardy because of a dam. In 1843, a dam was about to be
built across the Nile. The dam was 12 miles down to the city of Cairo. The dam
was what everyone was talking about for a while, although it was completed in the
year 1861. After the dam was built, it was then extended and improved, it was
marked as the beginning of the modern irrigation in the Nile Valley. In the year
1901, the Zifta Barrage was added to the system. Only a year later, in 1902, the
Asyut Barrage was more than 200 miles upstream from Cairo. Then there was the
first dam at Aswan that was built between 1899 and 1902. After years and years,
the dam has been enlarged. In 1929 and 1934, the water level rose, but the dam s
capacity increased. The Aswan Dam was located to 600 miles upstream from Cairo
and 4 miles upstream towards the real Aswan dam that was created. What was
really the dam job? It was to control the Nile water, so the crops could get provided
with water. All of this hard work started in 1959 and then completed in
45. Houston Research Paper
In Houston, there are no limitations of the food that can be found around the city.
Houston is fully diverse with countless traditions that have been passed down. The
best we learn about the cultures is through food; a realization that not everybody
acknowledges. These cultures has even expanded to school lunches in Cypress and
Katy, to be more diverse rather than just serving hot dogs and burgers. As a Hispanic
teenager, I am pleased to have been exposed by the many meals and traditions of
Mexican, Salvadoran, and other heritages.
For the simple reason that I am Hispanic I am expected to grow accustomed to the
various spices that the rest of my family eats. However, I am so cautious around
sauces and spices. This is from the experience ... Show more content on

From then I would get ketchup myself. Gradually over time, I grew comfortable to
eating my dad s sauces to which I would say Pa, la salsa es muy buena Translated is
that, Dad the sauce is really good. To which I have repeatedly said at family meals.
Another great sense of food is the warm soft tortillas that carry delicious pieces of
juicy beef fajita. At restaurants, the sight of the steam leaving the food, creates a
mouth to water as well as a pleasant feeling of home. However, not every place is
going to capture the appetizing taste of food. Say for example, school. I remember
one time in elementary they were serving tamales. I was so excited to see a
Hispanic dish, I know I had the biggest smile on my face. I continued to my class
table and sat down. All of a sudden my friend sitting across from me, a friend that
happens to be Asian, questioned, You like that? Bluntly, I responded Yeah, why?
In which he responded, Oh, I didn t like it. Tamales, might I add is special

would be spread against the dried corn husk. Then it would be filled with chicken,
pork, or cheese. Then the components would be wrapped by the corn husk to be
46. The Importance Of Waiting Time To Service
Waiting times to each service for these data sets are shown in
Figure~ref{WaitCAOnly} and Figure~ref{WaitCACombo}, respectively. They
seem longer for patients with larger values of assessment urgency scale; in
particular, levels 5 6. Level 4, in most cases has the shortest waiting times to
services. Patients with an assigned value of 5 seem to have the longest waiting
times. There seems to be two separate distributions for waiting times to some
departments; in which levels 5 6 are not given services as quickly as the rest.
When a clinician was contacted for expert advice, he speculated that AUS level 6
could be a group of patients who were excluded from further clinical intervention. I.e.
the group of patients whom clinicians... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It would be expected that higher levels of AUS; being more urgent, would have the
least waiting times to services.newline Table~ref{AUSDorA} also shows that
there were more patients who died in levels 5 6 than in the other levels. In fact,
level 5 recorded the most number of deaths proportionately. This is also counter
expectation as one would expect AUS level 6 to have had the most deaths.

Figure~ref{CAOnly} and Figure~ref{CACombo}, it is not clear whether the
patients with AUS levels 5 6 who have long waiting times for the Community
service, say, would probably have had shorter waiting times for the Emergency
service. Therefore, pursuing such an investigation seemed prudent. Waiting times
were calculated by taking the shortest time to any of Emergency, Community,
Inpatient or outpatient. If the
47. Pablo Picasso Guernica vs. Theodore Gericault s Raft of...
For centuries artists have moved audiences through the use of pictures. As time
progressed those images became more and more demanding of the viewer until
they were meant to invoke a physical response. Perhaps the earliest account of such
emotionally exact artwork is the 1818 piece, Raft of the Medusa, by Theodore
Gericault. As time progressed people became more politically aware and involved
and generations of art portrayed this. Pablo Picassos Guernica, created in 1937, is a
great example of how modern times soon saw a peak in the occurrence of allegorical
and politically packed artworks. Gericault s The Raft of the Medusaand Picasso s
Guernica are both horrifying accounts of the nature of men that aimed to alter a

This predominantly two toned color motif allowed for more focus to be drawn to the
most dynamic figures, which are the same humans Gericault wanted viewers to see
and sympathize for.
While Gericault s, Raft of the Medusa was essentially criticized for its lack of direct
criticism of the event and more a display of the human element, it is this feature that
made it characteristically romantic. Gericault took the national scandal out of the
papers and turned it into a personal event for each of the passengers. Rather than
depict the weltering bodies of the crew, he gave them more muscular frames in
vigorous poses. Originally setting out to portray the event as nothing more than a
visual truth, he shifted his focus to portray a greater truth of suffering.
The suffering is reflected in the face of every passenger and it is the main focus of the
piece than any other element. The Raft s theme of human suffering evoked empathy
and compassion, which helped project the image beyond any hopes the artist could
have held for the piece. This predominant focus on the human condition allowed a
stereotypical Romantic piece. Another artist famous for highlighting the human
condition was Spanish born, Pablo Picasso.
In 1936 the Spanish government commissioned Picasso to paint a feature piece for
their international exposition in Paris at the peak of World War II. Picasso was
unsure of what to paint until in 1937 when Nazi warplanes bombed the Spanish town

The Patriarchal Power in the Institution of marriage: Simone de Beauvoir and the
Conflict of Male/Female Dualism in Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen
In beginning, the conflict between male and female power in the 19th century
institution of marriage will presented through Simone de Beauvoir s theory of
dualism in Jane Austen s Sense and Sensibility. Elinor, the main character of Austen s
novel, is a woman that is at the mercy of patriarchal male figures that control the
institution of marriage. Beauvoir defines the historical creation of the male
dominance of over women through the theme of the duality of the sexes. Austen s
novel provides many examples of the patriarchal construct of male authority through
marriage, which is defined in the various social and legal pressures imposed on
women, such as Elinor. Elinor is an extremely intelligent woman that is much smarter
and more sensible than many of the men and women in this novel, yet she is
continually oppressed by the patriarchal institution of marriage in 19th century
British Society. In essence, an analysis of Simone De Beauvoir s theme of duality will
be analyzed in the context of Jane Austen s Sense and Sensibility. In 19th century
British society, the patriarchal institution of marriage takes on an almost absolute
power over women at levels of class and status. Austen s depiction of women in this
environment provides a way to understand the overarching oppression that many
women endured during this

book subsisted during the Prohibition era which influenced Fitzgerald significantly in
his writing. What numerous people fail to realize is the meaning that the book entails

an Oxford man (Fitzgerald 129) which closely parallels Scott s experience with
Princeton, considering he never graduated. During Fitzgerald s time at Princeton he
formed a romantic interest with a woman named Ginevra King. This woman can be
described as being a beautiful, young debutant which Scott escorted to sundry
amounts of parties and football games. One evening Scott was in Ginevra s
hometown and overheard someone state that poor boys shouldn t think of marrying
rich girls (Baughman and Bruccoli 17). She seemed to share the same opinion
because by late 1916 Ginevra chose to pursue the attentions of wealthier young men.
He attended Princeton in 1913, nonetheless by November 1917 he enlisted in the

safe for one to assume that he is portraying himself as Gatsby trying to steal away
Daisy s heart, or in Fitzgerald s circumstance,
