Art Psychotherapy
The Article, Art Therapy Strategies to Raise Self Esteem in Female Juvenile Offenders: A
Comparison of Art Psychotherapy and Art as Therapy Approaches by Liz Hartz, Lynette Thick
seeks to find the benefits of Art as therapy and Art psychotherapy methods during artistic
experience. The research problem is to analyse the differences between these two art therapy
approaches administered over female Juvenile offenders, with self esteem, peer relations,
behavioural conduct and social acceptance as the measuring scales. The Abstract provides a clear
indication of improved self esteem among the clients of both the treatment groups. It is a good
conception to adopt both these approaches, which might help in developing art therapy theories
individually.

Star Wars Game Analysis
Would you rather be in a dinosaur world or play a game where you are in a battle in Star Wars?
These two things are possible. First up is Ark Survival Evolved . This game is an open world
with almost endless possibilities. There really isn t an objective given to you, players just have to
come up with their own objective. Your own personal objective could be to tame a certain dinosaur
or build your base but first you need to get the supplies to do so. Although there is not an objective
given to you, most people have the goal and that is to stay alive!
Now for Star Wars Battlefront . The objective depends on what gamemode you play. For example,
in one of the gamemodes, you have to defend or attack objectives and those are usually labeled ...

Since the game has a lot less than Ark it doesn t have issues with running slow (if it does run
slow, it is most likely your internet connection). None the less the graphics are very good. With all
the lasers and lights flashing and flying by and the explosion, it makes you feel like you are in the
movie.
Ark Survival Evolved and Star Wars Battlefront are different. Ark has dinosaurs but there isn t
really a time on it because there are guns and turrets but no futuristic stuff. While Star Wars
Battlefront is set in star wars which is along time ago in a galaxy far far away and as everyone
knows is very futuristic. These games are very different. In some ways, though, they are similar.
For example, players can go head to head (or tribe to tribe, because you make or join a tribe in Ark)
in both

Asset-Liability Management
Asset Liability Management
Asset Liability Management (ALM) can be defined as the ongoing process of formulating,
implementing, monitoring and revising strategies related to assets and liabilities to achieve an
organization s financial objectives, given the organization s risk tolerances and other constraints
[1]. ALM also is known as balance sheet management. In banking activity the gap between assets
and liabilities can bring some consequences where the following risks are arose. And as a whole it
influences badly on the bank s functioning. Solving that problem is the primary goal of ALM. The
good balance sheet management means that the return on loans and securities as the highest as
possible, risks are minimized and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Benefits and drawbacks of asset securitization
Before asset securitization was created, banks lent money to households and companies and
these loans existed in the banks balance sheets until they mature or are paid off. This creates a
mismatching of assets and liabilities because typically banks use deposits and issuance of debts
as a provision of loans. And both of them have shorter period of maturity then banks lending
especially cars and mortgages loans. Since the bank started to use securities backed by assets or
in other words it started to transfer the ownership of the assets to SPVs, the great opportunities
have began widely available for the bank. And the main of that fee income and additional trading
opportunities are providing. Securitization is the process of transforming illiquid assts into
marketable securities. This helps banks to maintain or even increase their liquidity because long
term loans are replaced to SPVs. As a consequence, the gap between balance sheet sides also is
diminished. And as a result the position of the bank becomes more stable and it frees up capital to
provide new loans. In other words, the opportunity for bank to lend additional funds to the
consumers appears. Moreover, securitization provides quick access to funds that

Cnidarians are a phylum of aquatic organisms that include jellyfish, corals, hydroids, and
anemones. They are an ancient group of animals that are thought to have emerged more that 500
million years ago. They are characterized by their radial symmetry, their diploblastic bodies, and
specialized cells called cnidocytes. Cnidarians are represented as either polyps or medusae. Sea
anemones and corals are consistently found as polyps, and jellyfishhave a polyp stage early in their
development. These polyps are mostly sessile, but some have the ability to relocate themselves if
necessary. When jellyfish mature they are medusae with a fully formed bell. When in the medusae

Spirocysts do not have any piercing elements, and are used to attach to prey and non prey.
(Г–stman, 2000) They secrete an adhering hydroscopic substance that allows the tube to adhere to
substrates without piercing them. (Г–stman, 2000) Spirocysts are very tightly wound within a thin
walled spirocyst, in comparison to the thick walled nematocyst. Spirocysts are only found in
Anthozoans, and are usually used in conjunction with nematocysts to hold prey and envenomate it.
(Г–stman, 2000) The success of this depends on how well the tentacles can adhere to its prey. The
intrinsic adherence of the cnidarian firing the cnidae is measure by the amount of force it takes to
remove a target from the tentacle. (Thorington and Hessinger, 1998) the total adhesive force, as
calculated by Thorington and Hassinger is equal to the adhesive force of the spirocyst mucus (St)
and the product of the number of cnidae ( mastigophore nematocysts (nm), and spirocysts (ns)
discharging onto the target and their intrinsic adherence, ( mastigophore nematocysts (im), and
spirocysts (is). When combined Adhesive force = St + (nm)(im) + (ns) (is) They found that the
product of the number of cnidae and the intrinsic adherence for spirocysts had no effect on overall
adherence, so they shortened the equation to Adhesive force = St + (nm)(im)

The Eyes Have It By Philip K Dick
ENGL 1405 WORLD LITERATURE WRITTEN ASSIGNMENT UNIT4
Introduction:
The story background,
I have read the science fiction Name called The Eyes Have it which was published 1953. This
fiction was written by Philip K. Dick. The narrator discusses his discovery of an invasion of Earth.
Which I am mostly focusing on the narrator, the main point of views if I can change differently

The Positive And Negative Aspects Of The Holocaust

time of war and poverty for many Jews, Gypsies, Poles, Russians, and others that the Nazis led
by Hitler tortured in constitution camps. The Holocaust started World War II.(ushmm.org) The
war was a very disgusting and was a bloody war. Hitler, the leader of all of the Nazis, hated Jews
and wanted to kill all of them. Hitler was a Catholic, but later grew up and didn t believe in what
Catholicism stated. He became Anti Semitic, but still hated the Jews. He also blamed the loss of
World War I on the Jews. This is how he built his idea of the Nazis attacking Poland and all his

Critical Analysis Of The Abolition Of Budgeting
Critical Analysis of the Abolition of Budgeting
Budgeting is a main instrument of management control for most organizations systems. Recently it
is a controversial phenomenon, the disappointment with budgeting is occurring. This is because
some people find that budgeting processes are time consuming and often lead to dysfunctional
behavior. Additionally, they make organization fail to be flexible in such an uncertain financial
environment. Many people think traditional budgeting systems should be abolished, but others
wish to improve them. Hope and Fraser (2003b) provide a few examples of European companies
that have abolished traditional budgeting systems successfully. On the other hand, Eckholm and
Wallin (2000) observe approximately ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, under the pressure to improve performance, subordinates may force performance through
engage some short term actions, which may result in earning manipulation, breakdown in corporate
ethics or outright fraud. In a company that applies traditional budgeting, teams are fighting with
each other for customers and resources, which leads to discourage of information sharing. Hope and
Fraser (2003b) maintain that budgeting impedes information sharing and slow the responsibility of
market information. In addition, without budget targets, subordinates would report or make more
effort on some abnormal market information they collect instead of simply hide them. The reporting
of that abnormal information may help the company adjust their business strategy, and avoid
shortcomings (Hope and Fraser, 2003b).
Conversely, Libby and Lindsay (2010) suggest that in their survey sample, in terms of the efforts
put on achieving budgets targets, there are 52% and 71% of respondents in Canadian and US
respectively, which indicate that the emphasis is high. In respects of the relevance of the use of
fixed performance contracts, there are only 12% of respondents in Canadian and 17% respondents
in US agree that financial performance is strictly compared to the predetermined target and no
commission for changes during the competitive period. In other words, the fixed performance
contracts are not as highly relevant as what Hope and Fraser suggested. In terms of information
sharing,

Resting Membrane Potential Research Paper
Hanan Yusuf
BIO 350 002
In order to understand electrical signaling in biological membranes, we must know the basic
properties of the resting membrane potential. Electrical signaling of biological membranes is
required for effective cell to cell communication in our bodies (Watson et al. 2015). In order for the
conduction of electrical signals along membranes to occur, cells must be excited. Before excitation
occurs, the cell membrane is at rest; this state is known as resting membrane potential. The resting
membrane potential results from a separation of charges across the membrane. Additionally, at this
state there is no massive ion movement across the membrane.
Initially, the potassium concentration is larger inside of the cell than outside whereas the sodium
concentration is larger outside of the cell than inside. As a result, the aforementioned ions will
travel down their concentration gradient; potassium ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result, the K+/Na+ ATPase pump actively transports potassium into the cell and sodium out of
the cell in order to maintain the membrane potential of the cell. This process requires energy
because the pump goes against the concentration gradient of the ions. As a result, the potassium
concentration is higher inside of the cell than outside and the sodium concentration is higher
outside of the cell than inside. This causes a large net diffusion of potassium out of cell and only a
small net diffusion of sodium into the cell in order to establish equilibrium potential (Sherwood et
al. 2013). More potassium diffuses via the membrane than sodium because the membrane is 25X
more permeable to potassium than to sodium (Purves et al. 2001). The resting membrane potential
value for a typical cell is 70 millivolts, which is closer to the equilibrium potential of potassium due
to its high

Absorbance And Concentration Lab Report
The formula for measuring concentrations (Molarity) is moles/ Volume. The molarity of the
diluted sample is 3.5 x 10^ 6 M and the volume is .005 Liters. Then solve for moles by multiplying
the two knowns the product is 1.75 x 10^ 8 moles. All existing moles came from the .001 Liters of
the unknown sample. The moles should then be divide them the volume, which is 1 ml. The final
answer of the unknown concentrationis 1.75 x 10^ 5 M.
Absorbance and concentration are directly related. So if .1 M has an absorbance of .26, then a
solution with 0.2 M must have an absorbance of 0.52.
The formula to convert absorbance to transmittance is Transmittance = 10^ absorbance. The
equation would be 10^ .85 and the transmittance would be .1412 or 14.12% Transmitted.

A glance at the table of contents is enough to show that the sequence of chapters is erratic and
closer inspection reveals that the scope of individual chapters is far wider than appears at first
sight. Philosophic doctrines (which, according to the author, are the basis of the talismanic art),
theory of magic, astronomical, astrological and physical lore, extensive directions for the
practice of the art, and accounts of the peoples by whom it is employed are jumbled together

Anorexi A Call For Help
Anorexia: A Call for Help Many people are not sure what it means to have or be around someone

a crippling mental illness that can potentially ruin a person s life (Kranz and Maloney 8). About

disease is taking over the lives of many young women, and we need to help stop it. Anorexia,

Some of the reasons are physical abuse, mental abuse, low self esteem, genetics, and hormones.
When a child is younger, almost everything has an impression on her even if she does not think it
will. For example, if a teenager was hit a lot when she was younger, it can lead to anorexia or
bulimia or even something worse. Physical abuse can often times trigger a young person to be
unhappy with his or her body and want to change it drastically. However, it has not been proven
that it can cause an eating disorder. Another possible cause for eating disorders can be mental
abuse. Mental abuse can be caused from something tragic that recently happened in the person s
life, such as a divorce or a parent s dying. Low self esteem is another highly responsible cause for
eating disorders. Low self esteem can be brought on by a number of things. Some people with
anorexia may have previously been a compulsive eater or even overweight at one point in their
life (Kranz and Maloney 52). These types of things can sometimes cause a person to feel as
though his or her body is not good enough and they need to fix it. Some people also believe that
an eating disorder can belong in someone s genes. Certain eating disorder may in fact be traced
back to other family members who once suffered from them or similar disorders. Other aspects

The Jackhammer Syndrome Poem Analysis
Society s conventions teach that immoderate desires are unappealing manifestations of basal
instincts that individuals must learn to control. However, a certain sense of liberating freedom is
also attached to the idea of living in uninhibited by the guidelines that society imposes. The
Jackhammer Syndrome , a poem by Al Purdy, and Susan Orlean s The Orchid Thief present two
different narratives concerning the pursuit of personal desire and deal with the consequences that
ensue from this behavior. Their characters experiences suggest that the unchecked pursuit of
personal desires, at the expense of conformity within society, does not produce lasting gratification.
The Jackhammer Syndrome is narrated by an individual who recounts various memorable events in
his life. He mentions such instances as hide and seek and run sheep run/in my old hometown/where
the kid was pretty funny and swimming across a river meeting a girl halfway/along the wet footpath
and going/on together to the other/side for an hour doing/nothing dizzily balanced in the moment.
These memories, which seem ordinary and pleasant, are described by the narrator in a way that
causes the reader to question his true feelings towards them. Throughout the entire poem, the author
does not use a single mark of punctuation, dividing thoughts according to verse instead. However,
the more the narrator reminisces, the less coherent the verses become, combining multiple ideas
that lack an obvious connection. These

How Cognitive Behavior Therapy ( Cbt ) Is Effective...
Disorders and Treatment Introduction For this assignment, I will examine how cognitive behavior
therapy (CBT) is effective approach for clients with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Post
traumatic stress disorder is defined as a mental health condition that is triggered by exposure to
actual or threatened death, serious injury or sexual violation, (American Psychiatric Association,
2013). It is natural to feel afraid during and after a distressing experience and most people can
recover after the initial symptoms. But, people with PTSD continue to feel stressed and frightened
after the experience is over. According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental
Disorders 5th edition, PTSD occurs when the individual s exposure is from one or more of the
following: directly experiences the traumatic event; witnesses the traumatic event in person; learns
that the traumatic event occurred to a close family member or close friend (with the actual or
threatened death being either violent or accidental); or experiences first hand repeated or extreme
exposure to aversive details of the traumatic event (not through media, pictures, television or movies
unless work related. The disturbance, regardless of its trigger, causes clinically significant distress
or impairment in the individual s social interactions, capacity to work or other important areas of

that room for that specific night. It was time to say goodbye together. The footsteps of my sister in

A Brief Note On Fair Dealing And Fair Use
A recurrent theme evident throughout copyright literature is the comparison between fair dealing
and fair use. These provisions allow for additional rights to be awarded to users for educational or
research purposes. Their meaning and scope are defined by different legal systems, thus are not
synonymous terms. Fair dealingis a legal term pertaining to common law jurisdictions. It is used to
establish whether the use of a copyrightmaterial is lawful or whether it infringes copyright. With
research or private study as a central requirement, a two part test must be carried out with the
purpose, the character, the amount, the alternatives, the nature, and the effects of the dealing taken
into consideration. The introduction of the fair usemodel, with different elements to the US
doctrine, is highlighted by the Modernising Copyright Report 2013. With recent worldwide trends
moving to a fair use doctrine, there are many advocates promoting the method, considering it a
highly flexible way of enabling use of copyright works without infringement. Universities Australia,
in its submission to the ALRC discussion paper, believed the replacement of fair dealing
exceptions with fair use would enable academics to use copyright material in more advantageous
ways currently afforded to the US. Fair Tidmarsh also reach favourable conclusions, noting that it
would allow copyright works to be used in a way consistent with the greater public interest of
facilitating

Ralph C Wilson Case
Taxes Probably Contributed to Buffalo Bills Owner Decision to Keep Team While Still Living
While he was still living, Ralph C. Wilson Jr. was not only resolute about maintaining his sole
ownership of the Buffalo Bills but he passionately wanted his team to stay in Buffalo.
There might have been some financial motives to keep the NFL team before he passed away in
March 2014.
If he was still alive when he sold the team, his income taxes would have been based on the profits
of his initial investment of $25,000 in 1959. The team is now worth $870 million.
If the team was sold today, the successors to his fortune would have to pay capital gain taxes which
would be the difference between the team value when he died and whatever the eventual sale ...

Further complicating that tax scenario is what his heirs will owe in federal estate taxes. Attorneys
said that estate taxes can be as high as 40% and will depend on Wilson s final arrangements.
Alexander stated that for assets that large a considerable amount of planning would have taken
place, where different scenarios would be considered, overall costs and benefits and how they
would ultimately impact Mr. Wilson now and into the future.
Selling the team would also have been one of the decisions of the estate taxes evaluation.
As Alexander stated, a team valued at $800 million would have to pay $320 million or 40% at
some point.
Hoops mentioned that certain estate planners would advise a wealthy client like Wilson to take
advantage of insurance policies to pay for some of the estate taxes.
Even with expert estate planning, Hoops went on to say that unforeseen problems tend to come up
after death.
Even with the best estate plan ever devised, Hoops said it boils down to the family and heirs that

Buffalo Bill s Impact On The Wild West
William Cody s legacy as a both a performer and a historical figure is mixed. Known as Buffalo
Bill to both his critics and his fans, Cody embodied the Wild West, establishing a narrative of
frontier life and those who resided in it. Through his traveling performances, Cody constructed an
image that resonated with millions of Americans. Many historians have analyzed Buffalo Bills
cultural significance and how he affected Americans perceptions on expansion.
Since Christianson s work is a foreword to Cody s autobiography, it depicts Cody in a relatively
positive light. It largely focuses on the importance of Buffalo Bill describing in the thesis how this

Utilizing mostly secondary sources, Riley discusses how the professional relationship between
Buffalo Bill and Annie Oakley strengthened the American frontier, as they pair became leading
interpreters of Manifest Destiny and of its casualties, American Indians (Riley 256). As she
describes in her thesis, by creating the cowboy and the cowgirl and imbuing them with ideals of
white manhood and womanhood, Cody and Oakley entered the era s ongoing debate concerning
proper gender roles for men and women, popularizing standards to which many Americans soon
aspired (256). In other words, Riley argues that the professional relationship between the individuals
was significant in popularizing the West. Through their show, Buffalo Bill and Oakley created the
Wild West, presenting their version of western settlement and instructing white citizens, immigrants,
and children in the American national ideology (276). Buffalo Bill and Oakley s perception on the
West was significant because of its popularity among American citizens. As Riley discusses, the
shortcomings in accuracy are negated by the show s cultural

Causes Of The Musket War
In the beginning of the 19th century, almost all New Zealanders were considered to be Maoris.
The Maoris made up nearly the whole country, with a population between 100 120,000, while the
European population was down in the hundreds. In 1818, the Musket Wars resulted in the loss of
over a fifth of the Maori population, at least 20,000 dead and thousands more captured ( Overview
of NZ ). The Musket War was a war that began when the Europeans introduced their advanced
technology and muskets into New Zealand. The Musket Wars were a series of inter tribal wars
caused by tribes all trading to obtain muskets. At the end of the wars, in 1830, a new conflict for
the Maori population took rise when warfare gave way to economic rivalry ( The Musket Wars ).
From 1830 on, Europeans would come to New Zealand in waves of hundreds and thousands of
people, threatening the Maoris once complete control over the land. This brewing economic rivalry
was what paved the way for the Treaty of Waitangi, New Zealand s founding document. This treaty
was interpreted differently by the English and Maoris, something the British had purposely done.
The British plan to deceive the natives resulted in both land and governmental conflicts. Land
disputes caused by the treaty s misinterpretations between the Maori people and the settlers
sparked the New Zealand Wars in 1861 1870. At the end of these wars, new laws were passed that
nearly abolished Maori rights. In 1896, New Zealand was no longer a Maori

Women s Influence On The Field Of Psychology
Throughout the early days of psychology, opportunities for women where limited and it was an
extremely difficult time for women to become apparent in the field of psychology. Women
struggled for equality in the field of psychology and this began with our pioneers, Mary Whiton
Calkins, who sat her PhD but was never awarded it, Margaret Washburn, being the first women to
be awarded a PhD and Christine Ladd Franklin.
Since these women made their breakthrough there has been more and more women contributing
their knowledge to many areas in psychology such as, Anna Freud, who became influenced by her
father s theories and created her own theories in psychoanalysis. Karen Horney who contributed a
substantial amount to the personality theory and later became interested in feminine psychology,
Melanie Klein and Mary Ainsworth, just to name a few.
These women faced several societal constraints and long held beliefs about the role of women in
their era. At that time the societal belief was that women where intellectually inferior to men and
responding to this judgement, male psychologists attempted to develop theories about what could
happen to women if they did try to enter higher education.
This paper will outline the contribution to the field of psychology that has been made by a female
psychologist. This paper will focus on the contributions made by Mary D. Salter Ainsworth within
her field of Developmental psychology and her contributions to other theories within the same

Re exposure to the Varicella zoster virus via close contact with individuals with the disease has
been proposed to boost specific immunity, therefore reducing the risk of contracting chicken pox. In
contrast, however, this may have lead to a higher incidence of shingles in older adults. The shingles
immunization is now recommended for people sixty years and older to offset contracting the
shingles virus. (Chavez, Santibanez, Gargiullo, Guris, 2007) Chickenpox is seasonal infectious
disease, and usually has an uptick of incidence in the late winter and early spring. For the most
part, chicken pox is a childhood disease, accounting for greater than 90% of incidences occurring in
kids less than ten years of age. It is typically nonthreatening in a healthy child, with a morbidity in
immune compromised patients and adults.
The agent factor is the presence of the virus, Varicella zoster, in the epidemiologic triangle. The
host factor would include mostly children less than fifteen years of age, but anyone who has not
had chickenpox would be vulnerable to contract the disease. In most cases, a person usually only
has one occurrence of chickenpox in their lifetime. After having chickenpox, however, the virus lies
dormant in nerve tissue the brain and spinal cord, and may come back as shingles

The Communist Manifesto
The book I chose was Karl Marx s The Communist Manifesto. Marx starts his book off by
outlining what is happening to society. He states that society as a whole is more and more
splitting up into two hostile camps, into two great classes facing each other: Bourgeoisie and
Proletariat. Here, he is portraying that society has divided themselves and are on the verge of
fighting, hence him saying two hostile camps . He is describing the fact that, according to him,
money is driving us to fight. Bourgeoisie, by Marx s definition, means the capitalist class who
owns most of society s wealth and means of production . He posits that this class has title to all of
the people below them because they own the means of production. These people under... Show

According to his philosophy, members of the bourgeoisie party are worshiping their wealth. His
solution is to get rid of set wages and to help everyone receive duplicate compensation. Whether
you are practicing medicine or checking someone out at the local McDonald s, you both make
the same amount. In theory, this is a good idea. But, as with many political doctrines, they are
only good in theory. Not in action. Take the Soviet Union, for example. In rationale, they wanted
a communist government, but they technically never achieved it. There were still people that
made more profit than others. There were still classes. In order to have a TRUE communist
government, everyone has to be (must be) equal, from the leader down to the laborers.
Everyone must make the same profit and have access to the same things. In the case of the
Soviet Union, there were still classes. Some people were still above others. It wasn t that they
didn t have enough time to get everyone on the same level class wise, it s that they adamantly
chose not to. They could have gotten it to work, but they didn t. They chose to keep some people
superior to others. Why? you might ask. Well, I believe that they were afraid. They were afraid
that if everyone was equal, then people might try to take the power away from the ones who had

Seven Things You Should Know About Introverts
Knowing about yourself is great, but knowing about others also can have its benefits. In the Article
Seven things Extroverts should know About introverts(and vice versa) by Psychologist Sophia
Dembling, it talks about the things that one should know about the other, specifically related to
introverts and extroverts. To clarify introverts are ones who normally keep to themselves, when
there s a party, they are the ones who are typically at home watching Netflix. While on the other
hand extroverts are the ones who are at the party, and most of the time always wanting to do
something and socialize. While each personalities are very different, each one has its own benefits.
Let s first start with what extroverts and should know about introverts. In the article, Dembling
mentions introverts don t need alone time because they don t like their friends, but because very
simply, they just need time to themselves, and time to regroup and relax. Additionally, she mentions
introverts don t sit quietly because they are judging anyone, but because they like to watch and
observe what others are saying and doing. I can relate to that one, as I catch myself doing that often.

Polarization of X-Rays
Polarization of X rays was first demonstrated by Barkla. He was performing experiments on the
secondary X ray radiation phenomena (C. G. Barkla 1905). He used a block of graphite that
scatters the primary X ray beam from an X ray tube. The scattered intensity of the X ray beam
was measured in two mutually perpendicular directions. He denoted the scattered intensity in a
parallel direction to the tube axis I_pand the one scattered at right angles I_s. The degree of
polarization for X rays emitted at an angle Оё to the direction of the electronbeam is given as
(Agarwal 1991):
P_(pol(Оё))=(I_s I_p)/(I_s+I_p )
Barkla found that for θ=90°,I_p was larger than I_s by ≈20%. This discovery that X rays can
be partly polarized proved that they are transverse electromagnetic waves. However, Barkla actually
studied and measured the polarization of the bremsstrahlung (continuous) radiation.
When electrons emitted from a heated cathode filament are accelerated by a potential difference U
and impinge onto an anode target (for example tungsten), the motions of the electrons with in the
target are influenced by the strong Coulomb fields of the atomic nuclei. As a result, the electrons
are decelerated within small distances and; consequently, a broadband bremsstrahlung or continuous
radiation is produced. Figure 2.3. PENELOPE simulated spectrum of a bremsstrahlung from a
tungsten metal for 20 keV electron beam energy

Integrative approaches to psychology and Christianity
Summary
Enwistle s book, Integrative approaches to psychology and Christianity: An introduction to
worldview issues, philosophical foundations, and models of integration (2010) is a text that
explores integrating psychology and Christianity. We start out by learning about integration related
to both psychology and Christianity. Is this a thing? Is integration between these two subjects a
subject itself? Enwistle explores through time to reveal how psychology and Christianity have been
both closely studied and intertwined throughout time. Enwistle (2010) defines Christian psychology
as a commitment to a Christian worldview that shapes how psychology is studied and applies, and
that recognizes that there are specific Christian resources that uniquely reveal crucial aspects of
what it means to be human (p. 14). Those in the psychology or counseling field who are also
Christian have unique and different approaches but they draw from both Christianity and
psychology to help them succeed.

Incidents At Lot s House On Gays
It seems apparent that these weren t just angels who took on the mere appearance of men. They
were angels that either took on a substantive and tangible human likeness or were sanctioned by
God to possess human men for the specific task God had given them. When they arrive at Lot s
house, it says in 19:4 5, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, surrounded the house, both young
and old, all the people from every quarter; and they called to Lot and said to him, Where are the
men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may have relations with them There
is no question that the gay community is a seedbed of sexual immorality. This is especially true
for gay men. This isn t hard to imagine why. Many unredeemed men have no inhibitions when it
comes to sex. This is true whether they re gay or straight. It s usually (although not exclusively)
the woman that has more restraint. Put two guys together and you have a recipe for debauchery.
Although the incident at Lot s house related to intentions involving sodomy, I have a real
problem with explaining away their motivations as merely homosexual urges in nature. First off,
the verse seems to clearly indicate that this was ALL the men of the city, both young and old,
from every quarter. Was every single male gay? There s no reason to doubt that these two angels
were beautiful men, especially if they were just taking on the form of men. But to suddenly have

black females along the lines of, How dare you! because the storyline is profoundly their story, not

Many black feminist were outrage because Shange s work is a landmark to black feminism and

Problem of Tyranny of the Majority
Problem of Tyranny of the Majority Federalist papers were a series of essays written by
Alexander Hamilton, John Jay and James Madison and were publish with the pen name Publius
. They were first written to urge the citizens of New York City to support ratification of the
proposed United States Constitution. This paper will analyze the problem of tyranny of the
majority in both society and the government by using Madison s Federalist Papers No.10 and 51.
It will also discuss how the republican government and separation of powers provide remedies.
In Federalist Paper No.10, Madison defines factions as groups of people who have a common
self interest. They would be different to the individual rights of other citizens because they were
involved with their own benefits. He states that factions are inherent to human nature and citizens
are no longer living under a state of liberty. Madison states, liberty is to faction what air is to fire
, this means that with out liberty there cannot be any factions. By destroying the liberty, which is
essential to its existence, the other, by giving to every citizen the same opinions, the same
passions, and the same interests. The difference between those who have and those who don t
would always be in existence, and is in fact one of the most common unavoidable cause of factions.
Individuals will always continue to associate themselves with those who are on the same level, as
long as we have different property and economic statues.

The mockingbird sings is another poem where symbolism is utilized (pg. VI). A mockingbird is
an individual who is presented as an innocent person by the narrator. Despite doing or saying
what is right for his lover and himself, the information he tries delivering to his lover remains
unclear. He ends up repeating the same actions and says to please his lover. The narrator refers to
him as silly and egotistical and that the song he sings is only clear to him and not to others about
the direction of the message conveyed in the song. He ends up failing and probably suffers out of
unclear intentions. The connection of the poem to the title of the book is that the innocent person
in the poem is nature which tries to please humans but all in vain.
The other section where symbolism is evident is Small Porch in the Woods. It is divided into
several poems. In the first one, there is the mention of unshifting star which represents a change that
is undisturbed. It is the turning point of the society. Despite the challenges communities face in
their life, their ambition leads them towards achieving their objectives in life. The second poem
under this section is about a heavy rain that fell in the month of April. Heavy rain is the
representation of unhappy moments. The description presented by the narrator shows that it is a

An alternative material to amalgam is resin composite. Resin composite materials are, complex
blends of polymerizable resins mixed with glass powder fillers (Direct and indirect restorative

Today, resin composite continues to be a preferred material of choice by dentists and patients,
primarily because of the esthetic appearance and improved strength of the material (Hatrick et al.,

The Importance of Having Health Insurance
Health insurance is something every person should have as it helps cover medical and surgical
expenses. If a person were to lose an arm or a leg, insurance would help pay for the cost of a
prosthetic or surgery to repair the arm or leg. Most insurance companies offer subsidies such as
vision and dental plans to assist with anything in regards to your eyes or teeth. There are a very
few insurance companies that do offer a hearing plan, but most of those companies are private
insurance companies. (Gandal)So, what about a person that is born with hearing loss or loses
their hearing? Insurance companies do not consider hearing aids as something people need.
However, if you were born with hearing loss or if a tragedy occurred and caused you to lose
your hearing you are pretty much on your own. There are devices and a surgical procedure that
you can do to improve your hearing but the majority of health insurance companies do not consider
those as medical necessities. Actually the health insurance industry considers hearing aids as an
elective comparable to liposuction or plastic surgery. (Christensen) The federal government
considers hearing aids to be an optional treatment for those that could benefit from them, so there
is no legislation to provide coverage for hearing aids. (Early) If hearing loss were considered a
disability, it would be the highest rated form of disability. (Christensen) Thirteen thousand babies
are born with some form of permanent hearing loss

achievement gap between students and ensure all teachers and principals are highly qualified. The
difference between ESEA and the No Child Left Behind Act is the ESEA abstained from tying

but despite the ideology that schools should be held accountable for unequal academic progress,

Larry Bird Essay
Many dream of becoming an all star. Having the movie like transformation from being a lowly,
small town boy and turning into a true legend. One of the few that lived this was Larry Bird.
Larry would grow from a small town boy in Indiana to transforming and becoming one of the
National Basketball Association s, or NBA s best players of all time. Through Larry Bird s early
life, his college years, his NBA glory and rivals, and his life post NBA all come into account when
understanding the greatness of this true NBA legend.
Larry Bird grew up young and poor in French Lick, Indiana, just outside of West Baden. He was
born on December 7, 1956 (1). Larry s family was poor, just like all of the other families in his
town (2). As one of six siblings, Larry had to compete and fight for everything he got. His original

They needed a dynamic player like Larry who could carry them, and Larry did (3). Larry won
rookie of the year his first season, and led the Celtics to a 64 18 record, but lost to Philadelphia
in the Eastern Conference Playoffs. The Celtics really needed someone who could assist Bird
and take the load off of him, so they acquired two post players, Kevin McHale and Robert
Parrish. With the trio of greatness, the Celtics easily surpassed anything that other teams tried to
throw at them, winning the title in the 1980 81 season (3). The Celtics acquired Dennis Johnson
after the 1982 season, a point guard that Larry liked. Dennis was the missing piece the Celtics
had been longing for. They had the post and wing talent, but they needed a ball handler. In the
1983 84 the Celtics faced a foe they hadn t seen in the finals before, the Los Angeles Lakers. The
Lakers team was jam packed with all star talent, but one in particular Larry had seen before. And
that person was Magic Johnson. The Celtics and Bird beat the Lakers and Magic that year, but

Why Is Electronic Voting Wrong
Virtue Chike Okeke
Junior Research Period 2
Mr. Larkin
26 October 2017. Electronic Voting Machines Moving away from electronic voting and finding an
alternate way to vote that is the most precise and secure course of action.
Voting is the process by which a person or group of people formally express their opinion. In the
U.S., a citizen must be at least 18 years for them to vote, and voting is voluntary; a person can t be
forced to vote nor can he or she force anyone person to vote because it is a crime. The laws
surrounding voting are different in each state and as such each voter is required to register in the

Also contributing to the margin of error is the fact that many electronic machines don t keep paper
records of the votes that are inputted into the systems, and Because many of these machines have
no paper audit trails, a large number of votes will never be counted, (Elizabeth Weise). Also having
no paper records mean that a ballot can be hacked and changed and no one will know what the
original was and have no evidence that it was hacked. Although voting machines have advanced
and changed over the decades, many voting booth today still use outdated machines. Security risks
are the number one danger of older technology. The older your operating system or application, the
longer the bad guy hackers have to find and exploit vulnerabilities (Rack Blogger), while officials
are still using voting machines from 2000 2004, today.
While electronic voting machines have its fair share of dangerous internal problems, the external
problems are seem to make the internal problems seem like childs play. Some of the external
problems of electronic voting machines are as follows; physical tampering, which covers how
hackers can physically hack the machines why at these voting booth when left alone with these
machines, and the problems that those who moniter the machines might face; cyber attacks whether

Analysis Of Jonathan Swift s A Modest Proposal
The economic crisis in Ireland in 1970s was an overbearing issue for the Irish and became a
topic of satire ridicule for writers. Specifically, Jonathan Swift demonstrates mockery of this time
in one of his written works, A Modest Proposal. The speaker proposes to shift the issues of over
population and poverty to a business like mentality by paying woman to bare children and then
after a year, gaining a profit by selling and eat their children. The speaker s proposalto consume the
children of Irelanddemonstrates a satirical solution to the Irish s economic problems since the
speaker practices irony, paralipsis, and ridicule to his proposition to the people of Ireland.
Verbal irony is used multiple times by the speaker to describe the poor individuals in Ireland.
Within this essay, the speaker refers to the poor as pigs (16), cows in calfs and as breeders
(Swift,??). The speaker even goes so far as to describe the poor children as they will be prepared
for meals for the wealthy as an art of making good bacon by having them as a well grown, fat,
yearling (Swift,??). The irony developed by Swift is from the speaker proposing his argument of
that the children will make the most delicious, nourishing and wholesome food (Swift, Paragraph
9) can be interpreted as a second meaning. For instance, the description of the poor Irish, made by
the speaker, suggest that the individuals are being portrayed as animals that are meant to produce a
mean of advancing trade

Personal Team Effectiveness Individual Assessment
Introduction
Bruce W. Tuckman is an educational psychologist from Princeton University. In 1960 s, he
proposed Tuckman s Stages of Team Development. It is widely known as a basis for effective team
building. It is describes four stages of useful development: forming, storming, norming and
performing. In the 1970 s, Tuckman and other authors have added adjourning as the fifth stage.
Tuckman s model explains that as the team s growth, ability and building the relationship. However,
this is the most frequently cited if compared to the other models of group development that have
been proposed. Every team has to go through these stages so that their work can do smoothly,

Afghanistan has been the worst country when it comes to drug production. Afghanistan farmers
produce a plant called, Papaver Somniferum , but also known as opium poppy which goes into
more than 90% of the heroin worldwide. This country has been the world s greatest illegal opium
producer, ahead of the Golden Triangle (Three of the largest producers in Asia), and Latin America
since 1992. Afghanistan is the main producer of opium in the Golden Crescent . Government issues
are climbing caused by drug use and production in the country. With the already worsening conflict
in the all time record drug production in Afghanistan has recently caused a wave of panic.
Government official calls have been made for robust military action by NATO forces to contain the
drug industry in southern Afghanistan. By doing this they are afraid that intensifying the war on

Cultural Safety And Nursing Practice
Cultural safety is a concept that is integral to providing best care to patients in nursing practice.
The CRNBC defines cultural safety as a process requiring RNs to reflect on their cultural identity,
and develop their practice in a way that allows them to affirm the culture of their patients; cultural
unsafety can be defined as any actions which demean, diminish, or disempower the cultural identity
and well being of people; this also addresses the dynamics of the power relationship between the
Health Care Providerand the patient (p17). Although an environment of cultural safety is a
standard that we are held to as nurses, this ideal is not always reached. In this paper I will discuss
one such incidence, as well as some of the changes that will assist myself as a nurse, as well as
others members of the healthcare team to create an environment of cultural safety.
Culturally Unsafe Experience Through my nursing practice, I was on a team caring a patient
who we will refer to as John. John was a middle aged Aboriginal gentleman. He was hospitalized
due to end stage liver failure, secondary to alcohol abuse. As a result, John was receiving end of
life comfort care. While in the room with John, the nurses were always very considerate of him
and provided him with adequate end of life care. However, as soon as the nurses would leave the
room, they would discuss his condition with other nurses. This included talking about how they don
t feel empathetic for him or enjoy caring for

First Persian War Research Paper
The First Persian War took place at the Battle of the Marathon near Athens and it was known as one
of the infamous battle between the Athenians and the Persians. In 501 B.C.E., a Greek tyrant
named Aristogorus provoked the Persian rulers by instigating an uprising in Miletus and Ionia to
revolt against the Persian Empire. In order to ward off the Persian Empire s wrath, Aristogorus
reached out to his compatriots on the mainland in Greeceof Athens and Sparta. Sparta refused, but
Athens sent twenty ships enough just to anger the Persians, but not to save Miletus. Nevertheless,
the Athenians conquered the Persian s capital of Lydian in Sardis in order to steal the golds, but

when the Persia s fleets of 20,000 soldiers and their top generals sailed across the Aegean Sea to
reach the plain of Marathon, north of Athens. As a result, the Athenians sent Philippides, the fastest
runner, who ran approximately 150 miles in two days to request the help of the Spartans.
However, the Spartans insisted on celebrating the religious festival of Artemis Carneia before
going into battle. After the Athenians received the dreadful news, the Athenian general named
Miltiades and his outnumbered Athenian soldiers marched to the top of the hills of the Marathon.
The Athenian soldiers and Miltiades charged down the hills in unison using the hoplite technique
as they smashed into the lightly armed Persian s defense lines and they strengthened their two
wings as they pushed the Persian s soldiers around and back into the sea. Most of the Persian s
soldiers were either killed in battle or drowned in the sea, but some of Persian soldiers escaped
back to their ships. The Athenian soldiers who fought heroically to try to climb over the side of the
Persian s ships were praised and honored for their amputated right hand when they returned home to
Athens. The infamous Battle of the Marathon was the greatest battle ever recorded in the earliest
history of Ancient Greece. In addition, it was the first victorious Battle of the Marathon for the
Athenians and an unsuccessful First Persian War for the Persians, but it was not the last battle

Coughlan s Essay Online Schools Vs. Traditional Teachers
When most people hear about online schooling, they think about the ability to wake up at anytime,
to wear pajamas while doing classwork, and to learn in the comforts of their own home. Albeit the
idea of online schooling may seem glamorous, recent findings display unsatisfactory results from
students in the virtual classroom. With certain states advocating for the online school s access to
AP classes and credit recovery, the presence of online schooling expands rapidly. However, doubts
for the value of digital learning proliferates, warning parents to regard this alternative with caution.
In Sean Coughlan s Online schools worse than traditional teachers, he discusses the insufficient
results of online schooling whereas Daphne Koller advocates for the usage of online schooling in
The Future of College: It s Online. By using ethos,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Albeit this may hinder his own argument, Coughlan successfully exposes faults in the opposition,
building a more compelling point of view. By using trigger words like except and despite, the
author turns Koller s arguments around, strengthening his points more. Furthermore, he introduces
a benefit of virtual schools: it teaches more or less everything online. Coughlan consequently
undermines this claim arguing, but low achievement in these schools, identified by this research,
has raised big doubts. In the introduction, Coughlan also concedes to the digital glitz of online
schooling. However, he eloquently refutes the preconceived notions about virtual learning with
online learning has failed to match the teacher at the front of the class, which he goes on to support
with evidence from the NSOCS report in the rest of the article. Mentioning the opposition, Coughlin
appears erudite about both sides of the argument, and not blindly arguing without considering the

not my real father, he was still a better father than my real one. As we were walking many
questions went through my head. Would I recognize my sister? Would they all remember me? I
even thought about how everyone would weep for joy. Suddenly, I thought my mother would be
dead. I shook my head to get that thought out. I started to remember a song I heard: Eze elina,

He remembered the clean environment, trickling streams, proud trees, pristine forests, ferns and
heaps of logs like leaping back in time a period he preferred to live in and made it a lifelong goal
to continue living in. He also remembered taking a ride on a horse drawn carriage with the
pioneer of Turtle Island Preserve himself. When the preserve in North Carolina was closed, there

this was it: Turtle Island Preserve II. It wasn t a rumor after all...
What happened here? Caroline asked.
For us to find out I guess.
They walked back to the main building and then up the front steps. When they pushed the door,
it creaked ajar to the living room that was completely furnished with log tables, chairs, and
shelves. Though dusty from being unkempt, it was impressive. On one end of the room was a

A Bend in the River Book Review
The world is what it is; men who are nothing, who allow themselves to become nothing, have no
place in it . That s how V.S. Naipaul starts his novel A Bend in the River . The book describes the
post independence struggles of an unnamed Africa governed by a dictator, The Big Man . A Bend
in the River is a story of historical upheaval and social breakdown. The collision of cultures in
India, Arab, Africa, South America, and the Caribbean inform the extraordinary view of Naipaul
s creative imagination. He was born in Trinidad in 1932 from a Hindu family that had come
generations back as indentured servants from the subcontinent of India to a tropical island in the
Caribbean, where Hindus were a minority. Perhaps the shape of his vision owes something to his
own placement in the world. Salim, our first person narrator whose roots come from mixed
Muslim Arab African but more closely related to Hindus of northwestern India. He and his family

  • 13. Resting Membrane Potential Research Paper Hanan Yusuf BIO 350 002 In order to understand electrical signaling in biological membranes, we must know the basic properties of the resting membrane potential. Electrical signaling of biological membranes is required for effective cell to cell communication in our bodies (Watson et al. 2015). In order for the conduction of electrical signals along membranes to occur, cells must be excited. Before excitation occurs, the cell membrane is at rest; this state is known as resting membrane potential. The resting membrane potential results from a separation of charges across the membrane. Additionally, at this state there is no massive ion movement across the membrane. Initially, the potassium concentration is larger inside of the cell than outside whereas the sodium concentration is larger outside of the cell than inside. As a result, the aforementioned ions will travel down their concentration gradient; potassium ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a result, the K+/Na+ ATPase pump actively transports potassium into the cell and sodium out of the cell in order to maintain the membrane potential of the cell. This process requires energy because the pump goes against the concentration gradient of the ions. As a result, the potassium concentration is higher inside of the cell than outside and the sodium concentration is higher outside of the cell than inside. This causes a large net diffusion of potassium out of cell and only a small net diffusion of sodium into the cell in order to establish equilibrium potential (Sherwood et al. 2013). More potassium diffuses via the membrane than sodium because the membrane is 25X more permeable to potassium than to sodium (Purves et al. 2001). The resting membrane potential value for a typical cell is 70 millivolts, which is closer to the equilibrium potential of potassium due to its high ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, a certain sense of liberating freedom is also attached to the idea of living in uninhibited by the guidelines that society imposes. The Jackhammer Syndrome , a poem by Al Purdy, and Susan Orlean s The Orchid Thief present two different narratives concerning the pursuit of personal desire and deal with the consequences that ensue from this behavior. Their characters experiences suggest that the unchecked pursuit of personal desires, at the expense of conformity within society, does not produce lasting gratification. The Jackhammer Syndrome is narrated by an individual who recounts various memorable events in his life. He mentions such instances as hide and seek and run sheep run/in my old hometown/where the kid was pretty funny and swimming across a river meeting a girl halfway/along the wet footpath and going/on together to the other/side for an hour doing/nothing dizzily balanced in the moment. Disorders and Treatment Introduction For this assignment, I will examine how cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) is effective approach for clients with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Post traumatic stress disorder is defined as a mental health condition that is triggered by exposure to actual or threatened death, serious injury or sexual violation, (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). It is natural to feel afraid during and after a distressing experience and most people can recover after the initial symptoms. But, people with PTSD continue to feel stressed and frightened after the experience is over. According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders 5th edition, PTSD occurs when the individual s exposure is from one or more of the following: directly experiences the traumatic event; witnesses the traumatic event in person; learns that the traumatic event occurred to a close family member or close friend (with the actual or threatened death being either violent or accidental); or experiences first hand repeated or extreme exposure to aversive details of the traumatic event (not through media, pictures, television or movies unless work related. • 21. A Brief Note On Fair Dealing And Fair Use A recurrent theme evident throughout copyright literature is the comparison between fair dealing and fair use. These provisions allow for additional rights to be awarded to users for educational or research purposes. Their meaning and scope are defined by different legal systems, thus are not synonymous terms. Fair dealingis a legal term pertaining to common law jurisdictions. It is used to establish whether the use of a copyrightmaterial is lawful or whether it infringes copyright. With research or private study as a central requirement, a two part test must be carried out with the purpose, the character, the amount, the alternatives, the nature, and the effects of the dealing taken into consideration. The introduction of the fair usemodel, with different elements to the US doctrine, is highlighted by the Modernising Copyright Report 2013. With recent worldwide trends moving to a fair use doctrine, there are many advocates promoting the method, considering it a highly flexible way of enabling use of copyright works without infringement. Universities Australia, in its submission to the ALRC discussion paper, believed the replacement of fair dealing exceptions with fair use would enable academics to use copyright material in more advantageous ways currently afforded to the US. In 1818, the Musket Wars resulted in the loss of over a fifth of the Maori population, at least 20,000 dead and thousands more captured ( Overview of NZ ). The Musket War was a war that began when the Europeans introduced their advanced technology and muskets into New Zealand. The Musket Wars were a series of inter tribal wars caused by tribes all trading to obtain muskets. From 1830 on, Europeans would come to New Zealand in waves of hundreds and thousands of people, threatening the Maoris once complete control over the land. This brewing economic rivalry was what paved the way for the Treaty of Waitangi, New Zealand s founding document. This treaty was interpreted differently by the English and Maoris, something the British had purposely done. The British plan to deceive the natives resulted in both land and governmental conflicts. The degree of polarization for X rays emitted at an angle Оё to the direction of the electronbeam is given as (Agarwal 1991): P_(pol(Оё))=(I_s I_p)/(I_s+I_p ) Barkla found that for Оё=90В°,I_p was larger than I_s by ≈20%. This discovery that X rays can be partly polarized proved that they are transverse electromagnetic waves. However, Barkla actually studied and measured the polarization of the bremsstrahlung (continuous) radiation. When electrons emitted from a heated cathode filament are accelerated by a potential difference U and impinge onto an anode target (for example tungsten), the motions of the electrons with in the target are influenced by the strong Coulomb fields of the atomic nuclei. As a result, the electrons are decelerated within small distances and; consequently, a broadband bremsstrahlung or continuous radiation is produced. Figure 2.3. PENELOPE simulated spectrum of a bremsstrahlung from a tungsten metal for 20 keV electron beam energy The intensity distribution of the emitted broad radiation continuum ... Integrative approaches to psychology and Christianity Summary Enwistle s book, Integrative approaches to psychology and Christianity: An introduction to worldview issues, philosophical foundations, and models of integration (2010) is a text that explores integrating psychology and Christianity. We start out by learning about integration related to both psychology and Christianity. Is this a thing? Is integration between these two subjects a subject itself? Enwistle explores through time to reveal how psychology and Christianity have been both closely studied and intertwined throughout time. Enwistle (2010) defines Christian psychology as a commitment to a Christian worldview that shapes how psychology is studied and applies, and that recognizes that there are specific Christian resources that uniquely reveal crucial aspects of what it means to be human (p. 14). Those in the psychology or counseling field who are also Christian have unique and different approaches but they draw from both Christianity and psychology to help them succeed. • 33. Incidents At Lot s House On Gays It seems apparent that these weren t just angels who took on the mere appearance of men. They were angels that either took on a substantive and tangible human likeness or were sanctioned by God to possess human men for the specific task God had given them. When they arrive at Lot s house, it says in 19:4 5, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, surrounded the house, both young and old, all the people from every quarter; and they called to Lot and said to him, Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may have relations with them There is no question that the gay community is a seedbed of sexual immorality. This is especially true for gay men. This isn t hard to imagine why. Many unredeemed men have no inhibitions when it comes to sex. This is true whether they re gay or straight. It s usually (although not exclusively) the woman that has more restraint. Put two guys together and you have a recipe for debauchery. Although the incident at Lot s house related to intentions involving sodomy, I have a real problem with explaining away their motivations as merely homosexual urges in nature. First off, the verse seems to clearly indicate that this was ALL the men of the city, both young and old, from every quarter. Was every single male gay? There s no reason to doubt that these two angels were beautiful men, especially if they were just taking on the form of men. But to suddenly have ALL of the men of the city ready to break down the door to get ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They were first written to urge the citizens of New York City to support ratification of the proposed United States Constitution. This paper will analyze the problem of tyranny of the majority in both society and the government by using Madison s Federalist Papers No.10 and 51. It will also discuss how the republican government and separation of powers provide remedies. In Federalist Paper No.10, Madison defines factions as groups of people who have a common self interest. They would be different to the individual rights of other citizens because they were involved with their own benefits. He states that factions are inherent to human nature and citizens are no longer living under a state of liberty. Madison states, liberty is to faction what air is to fire , this means that with out liberty there cannot be any factions. By destroying the liberty, which is essential to its existence, the other, by giving to every citizen the same opinions, the same passions, and the same interests. There are a very few insurance companies that do offer a hearing plan, but most of those companies are private insurance companies. However, if you were born with hearing loss or if a tragedy occurred and caused you to lose your hearing you are pretty much on your own. There are devices and a surgical procedure that you can do to improve your hearing but the majority of health insurance companies do not consider those as medical necessities. After the Athenians received the dreadful news, the Athenian general named Miltiades and his outnumbered Athenian soldiers marched to the top of the hills of the Marathon. The Athenian soldiers and Miltiades charged down the hills in unison using the hoplite technique as they smashed into the lightly armed Persian s defense lines and they strengthened their two wings as they pushed the Persian s soldiers around and back into the sea. Most of the Persian s soldiers were either killed in battle or drowned in the sea, but some of Persian soldiers escaped back to their ships. The Athenian soldiers who fought heroically to try to climb over the side of the Persian s ships were praised and honored for their amputated right hand when they returned home to Athens. The infamous Battle of the Marathon was the greatest battle ever recorded in the earliest history of Ancient Greece. In addition, it was the first victorious Battle of the Marathon for the Athenians and an unsuccessful First Persian War for the Persians, but it was not the last battle ... • 53. Coughlan s Essay Online Schools Vs. Traditional Teachers When most people hear about online schooling, they think about the ability to wake up at anytime, to wear pajamas while doing classwork, and to learn in the comforts of their own home. Albeit the idea of online schooling may seem glamorous, recent findings display unsatisfactory results from students in the virtual classroom. With certain states advocating for the online school s access to AP classes and credit recovery, the presence of online schooling expands rapidly. However, doubts for the value of digital learning proliferates, warning parents to regard this alternative with caution. In Sean Coughlan s Online schools worse than traditional teachers, he discusses the insufficient results of online schooling whereas Daphne Koller advocates for the usage of online schooling in The Future of College: It s Online. By using ethos,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Albeit this may hinder his own argument, Coughlan successfully exposes faults in the opposition, building a more compelling point of view. By using trigger words like except and despite, the author turns Koller s arguments around, strengthening his points more. Furthermore, he introduces a benefit of virtual schools: it teaches more or less everything online. Coughlan consequently undermines this claim arguing, but low achievement in these schools, identified by this research, has raised big doubts. In the introduction, Coughlan also concedes to the digital glitz of online schooling. However, he eloquently refutes the preconceived notions about virtual learning with online learning has failed to match the teacher at the front of the class, which he goes on to support with evidence from the NSOCS report in the rest of the article. Mentioning the opposition, Coughlin appears erudite about both sides of the argument, and not blindly arguing without considering the relevant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Synapsis of Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe Essays Things Fall Apart (Ch.7, Ikemefuna) For three years I lived with Okonkwo and his family. By now the elders seemed to have forgotten about me being their sacrifice, which is a relief to me. As the years go by I have grown rapidly like a yam. I even became close with Nwoye. He is like a younger brother to me. We no longer have to watch the mothers cook; we now sit in Okonkwo s obi or watch him tap the palm tree to get the day s wine. I have come to see how happy Okonkwo was of his son, Nwoye, because he has know become a true man from what he has learned from me. I have come to learn that Okonkwo, like any other father, wants his son to become prosperous to feed his ancestors after he has died. Nwoye knew that it was his right to be a man... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As we reached the outskirts of Umuofia a silence fell upon the men. As we walked, the path became narrow. I heard a man say that there was a long way to go, then someone went in front of me to set a fast pace. Okonkwo was behind me, which made me feel better. Even though he was not my real father, he was still a better father than my real one. As we were walking many questions went through my head. Would I recognize my sister? Would they all remember me? I even thought about how everyone would weep for joy. Suddenly, I thought my mother would be dead. I shook my head to get that thought out. I started to remember a song I heard: Eze elina, elina! Sala Eze ilikwa ya Ikwaba akwa ogholi Ebe Danda nechi eze Ebe Uzuzu nete egwu Sala. If the song ended on my left foot my mother was dead, and if it was the right she was alive. It did stop on my right foot, she was alive. I didn t realize that I had stopped until the man behind me told me to go on and not look back; this sent chills throughout my body. I also realized that Okonkwo had moved to the back, which was a concern to me. The man who had cleared his throat raised his machete and Okonkwo looked away. The man slashed me and I dropped the pot of wine. I ran towards Okonkwo yelling, My father, they have killed me! Then he struck me down with his machete. My own father has killed me. He looked up at the wall with a smile to his surprise; it was getting late. It s six pm! So? I have to catch up with someone. Are you cheating on me already? No, he laughed. Work related. How about you come work for me as my personal guard? she offered. Hmm...tempting, but am only a gardener. Eustace helped his father realize that dream when he moved to Montana. He remembered the clean environment, trickling streams, proud trees, pristine forests, ferns and heaps of logs like leaping back in time a period he preferred to live in and made it a lifelong goal to continue living in. He also remembered taking a ride on a horse drawn carriage with the pioneer of Turtle Island Preserve himself. When the preserve in North Carolina was closed, there were rumors of another preserve built by the pioneer and his family farther north. Eustace figured this was it: Turtle Island Preserve II. It wasn t a rumor after all... What happened here? Caroline asked. For us to find out I guess. They walked back to the main building and then up the front steps. When they pushed the door, it creaked ajar to the living room that was completely furnished with log tables, chairs, and shelves. Though dusty from being unkempt, it was impressive. On one end of the room was a fireplace. To their surprise, it was fired by electric rather than logs which it appeared to give the facade of. He d seen versions of it in the city, but this was unlike anything he d ever seen. It was ingenious. The design and raw architecture of the home reflected the intellect of the builder. Come see! • 56. What Is The Theme Of A Bend In The River Rivera Jose Gabriel Hankins English 116 05/20/2015 A Bend in the River Book Review The world is what it is; men who are nothing, who allow themselves to become nothing, have no place in it . That s how V.S. Naipaul starts his novel A Bend in the River . The book describes the post independence struggles of an unnamed Africa governed by a dictator, The Big Man . A Bend in the River is a story of historical upheaval and social breakdown. The collision of cultures in India, Arab, Africa, South America, and the Caribbean inform the extraordinary view of Naipaul s creative imagination. He was born in Trinidad in 1932 from a Hindu family that had come generations back as indentured servants from the subcontinent of India to a tropical island in the Caribbean, where Hindus were a minority. Perhaps the shape of his vision owes something to his own placement in the world.
