Essay about master harold
Athol Fugard s Master Harold . . . and the Boys is about Hally, a white young man, and the damage
done by apartheid The play takes place on the southeast cost of South Africa, 1950 during the
apartheid, in Hally s parents restaurant. This is where two black servants, Sam and Willie, work for the
white family. Sam and Willie have been a part of Hally s upbringing and are close friends. The play is
a microcosm for the situation happening in South Africa a parallel time.
As the whole play is a microcosm to a bigger picture, so to incidents through out the play are
microcosms for other aspects of the 1950s in South Africa. These incidents have both a personal as
well as political relevance for Fugard says My plays are more than politics, ... Show more content on

The two of them were up there for a long time; the only bench on the hill read whites only. The bench
is the symbol of apartheid, division, hatred, and racism. It is apartheid that Hally hides behind as he
uses Sam and Willie as his scapegoat. Hally is filled with so much rage over his father, he is torn
between love and hate. When the conflict supernovas, Hally lashes out on his two black friends. He
tries to pretend they are not friends by acting strictly like a boss. Carrying on with this little man
routine, Hally asks Sam to call him Master Harold. Sam would only do this if they were no longer
friends; Hally would be no different from his father. This is the case for, when he spits in Sam s face,
Hally becomes Master Harold. Apartheid is victorious in the corruption of another white male as Hally
takes his place on the bench of segregation. If you re not careful . . . Master Harold . . . you re going to
be sitting up there by yourself for a long time to come, and there won t be a kite in the sky . On a
political viewpoint we see that even if a white wanted to go against the norm of the system it was
almost impossible due to the environment. Another point is that here we see that the blacks tried to
appease the whites anger but enough is enough and then the blacks anger would flair up, would the
whites try appease them?
Along with the kite and the bench, the dance is another symbol in Master Harold . . . and the

Donald Trump Impact
Impact on Trump Presidency on US tourism
Mr Donald Trump is set to become the 45th president of the USA in January 2017 and his views on
travel industry have become an intriguing talking point among travelers from across the globe. His
rhetoric during the presidential campaign about his non openness to welcome part of the global
population, building a wall across the US Mexican border, making tougher immigration policies,
planing to reverse the historical Cuban travel deals, a total ban on Muslims are few of the things he s
poised to accomplish. It surprises me that Mr Trump himself being part of the hospitality industry
embraces this type of position. The impact of such methods to the USA tourism has mixed reviews.

Internet is filled with things like Never travel to USA we have changed our plans to another country I
don t want to be harassed on my stay they don t like us or travel warnings etc. People are genuinely
concerned and afraid as well. People have already decided where they want to arrange their next
vacation. You maybe surprised that US might not be that desired destination.
Conclusion: The positive impact is that Mr Trump have promised to spend 1 trillion dollar to build the
crumbling infrastructures of the nation including the airports which is good. Inter city travels could
become easier and faster. It s up to Mr Trump and his administration to figure this out. According to
hipmunk.com the traffic to Mr Trumps golf courses and the hotels ( 80%)have dropped significantly
and keeps dropping as we speak. His brands have already become polarizing. He could turn this
around and reverse the damage he has caused during his campaign. After all, He might not build a
wall along the Mexican US border or create a muslim registry nor ban Muslims entering to the USA.
He could become one of the most travel Unfriendly president ever or the

Violence On Violence And Violence In Video Games
Violence in Video Games
Violence, killing, blood, and drugs are just a few of the things kids see on their games everyday. These
things impact a child more than we realize. Many parents do not limit their child s screen time, or
monitor what they play. According to, Pamf.org, Part of the increase in aggressive behavior is linked
to the amount of time children are allowed to play video games and daily media use by children is
increasing significantly. . Media especially video games affects the behavior of people in society.
Technology is a big thing in our world today and it will continue to grow. According to
nydailynews.com, The average American then spends another 32 minutes a day on time shifted
television, an hour using the Internet on a computer, an hour and seven minutes on a smartphone and
two hours, 46 minutes listening to the radio. . These numbers show that we revolve around technology.
While doing these daily tasks we may not realize how much violence we are actually witnessing.
Video games were first introduced in the 1940 s and since then they have evolved greatly. A half
billion people on earth play video games an hour a day, of whom 183 million are American. In fact, 97
percent of American young people ages 12 to 17 play video games (Jane McGonigal). There is a huge
number of young people that play video games daily, many whom play it way longer than in hour.
Video games are an everyday task to many people, but they do not realize the harm it can cause.

Risks Of Holding Sovereign Currencies As Reserve Currencies
The risks of holding Sovereign currencies as reserve currencies
Mina Jiang (mj86), the University of Akron
Research Summary
This research is devote to study different risks of one country holding sovereign currencies such as
dollar, euro and yen as its reserve currencies. In general, there may have three kinds of risks, which
include inflation risk, the exchange risk and the seignorage risk. It also tries to explain the effects of
these risks on the reserve country from the perspective of currency resource allocation. The inflation
risk have two forms: measurable depreciation risk from statistical sense and immeasurable
depreciation risk which is a natural loss of value. At the same time, the exchange risk also can be
explained in two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Where is the problem come from?
As we known that the most allocated reserve currency or the dominant reserve currencies are US
dollars and euro. Then, for example, when one country need dollars, it have to lend money or other
assets to the United States government, institutions and private investors at a lower costs. According to
the study by Kenneth Rogoff (2013), the United States gain more than $100 billion annually from this
kind of transaction . That is to say, for these countries who hold US dollars as reserve currency, they
will lose $100 billion per year.
Therefore, various political leaders from non issue international currencies country, such as China and
Russia suggest that using a super sovereign reserve currency instead of US dollars, euro and so on as
the reserve currency. As shown in an article wrote by Zhou Xiaochuan, governor of the PBC ( the
People s Bank of China), a super sovereign reserve currency should be created as the desirable reserve
currency instead of US dollar. He said that create an international reserve currency such as the SDR
(Special Drawing Right) which is isolated from individual countries, and also be able to remain stable
in the long run. This can help to removing the inherent deficiencies caused by using credit based
national currencies .
According to the above debate, it is necessarily to clarify that which

Private Business Form Comparison Essay
Private Business Form Comparison Introduction In the business world, many distinctions separate one
firm from the next. Competition, products, services provided is not the only factors that differentiate
businesses. Structure and type are another. This paper will discuss and compare the three major forms
of businesses (sole proprietorship, Partnership, and C Corporations) and provide a brief summary of
these three forms. Sole Proprietorship. This form of private business ownership carries the most
simplistic approach, as inherent in the name. One person assumes complete ownership of this business
as well as all financial and decision making responsibilities. It is the easiest to form as a start up and
has the least amount of legal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This same disadvantage, may also pose additional hurdles in the event the business needs to grow,
because the owner s personal credit rating may affect whether lenders will extend credit for the
business operations. Banks tend to be reluctant in financing sole proprietorships, which leaves these
owners seeking assistance from other investors or relying upon personal savings, home equity, or
reinvestment of company profits. Finally, the owner of the sole proprietorship is left to either rely
upon his or her own skill or solicit information through consultations, because they do not likely have
the requisite expertise in every aspect of their business (Kurtz Boone, 2013). Partnership. There are at
least two types of partnerships: general and limited. General partnerships are virtually the same as a
sole proprietorship, with the exception of additional owner(s). They are essentially sharing the
unlimited liabilities of the firm. Most of the benefits and disadvantages are very similar to a sole
proprietorship, except that there is also the oral or written agreement that exists between the partners
(Keown, Martin, Petty, 2014). Limited partnerships are distinguished, in part, by the limited liabilities.
This limitation is provided to at least one or more of the owners, and they are shielded up to the
amount of capital they invest into the business (Keown, Martin, Petty, 2014). These forms also must

Wolf Protect Herbivores
There are only 11,200 grey wolves left in the world. People are hunting them and shooting them and
littering on their habitats, so they are endangered. Wolfs keep the food chain in balance, so we need to
keep them safe. We need to help them. Without wolfs or other predators the herbivores will multiply
and eat all the plants and will move to other areas and then the herbivores there will move and they
will all keep on grazing till there is nothing left. Plus wolf kills are good for the soil. Once an animal
dies off they won t come back again. Wolfs and other animals are very amazing and they help us alot
in many ways. If wolfs die out the food chain will go toppling down and if one animal goes it affects

Essay on Prayer in Public Schools
Prayer in Public Schools
An issue that has been constantly debated for years is whether voluntary prayer in public schools
should be permitted. A student should be allowed to pray voluntarily at the beginning of each school
day based on many reasons. Prayer based on moral beliefs reinforce good citizenship as defined by
our forefathers. A daily reminder of a need for the belief of good over evil is a necessary part of this
society. Daily voluntary school prayer should be re instated in public schools due to three reasons, the
historical basis of the beginning of the United States government, the serious moral decline since
prayer has been outlawed, and the government infringement on the constitutional guarantee of
individual freedom ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another reason for reinstating volunteer prayer in public schools comes from the fact that since prayer
has been prohibited in public schools, the morality of the nation has declined. Since the Supreme
Court outlawed prayer in public schools in 1960, the nation has seen a steady moral decline. There is a
strong correlation between the expulsion of prayer in public schools and moral decline. Between the
years of 1960 and 1990, the divorce rate has more than doubled, teenage pregnancy and teenage
suicide has increased 250%. Child abuse is now at an all time high and since the end of school prayer,
abortions have gone up more than 1000%. Universal principles of a civilized society are mandated by
the Bible and re enforce by prayer. In the words of Ben Franklin, ? When we were subject to danger
from the war with Great Britain, we met daily in this room to pray for Divine protection. Our prayers,
Sir, were heard and graciously answered??Have we now forgotten our powerful Friend? Do we no
longer need his assistance?? The coming together to pray daily provide support, re enforcement and
fellowship to keep minds focused on good instead of evil. Many psychological studies have found that
people who pray daily have spiritual faith in goodness as presented in Christianity suffer less
depression and are less likely to commit suicide. Parents teach their children morals at home. These
lessons of right and

Essay on A Portrait Of Duke Ellington By Tracy Frech
A Portrait of Duke Ellington By Tracy Frech
Duke Ellington is considered to be one of the greatest figures in the history of
American music. Edward Kennedy quot;Duke quot; Ellington was born in Washington D.C. on
April 29, 1899. His parents were James Edward and Daisy Kennedy Ellington. They raised Duke as an
only child, until his sister, Ruth, was born when Duke was sixteen years old. Duke, even as a teenager,
had a great talent for music. In the beginning of his musical life, Duke began to take a promising
interest in a new type of music that would later be called jazz. Choosing to base his career on a new
idea may not have been smart, but Duke did take this chance and in turn became one of the most
famous musicians in America. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although he had many friends he never really told them everything about himself. He would often
guard his privacy probably because he had so little of it. When he was alone though, he would almost
always be arranging the next tune for the band to play, and was always thinking or preparing
something for the band to do in the next performance. Duke attracted some of the greatest musicians
to join his band.
Because of this it has been said that many of Duke s pieces are almost impossible to exactly duplicate
without the personal style of the original musicians. One of the strange things that was known about
Duke was that his school music teacher, Mrs. Clinkscales, who played the piano, was always the
inspiration for him to just sit down and start tinkering around with a few notes that usually became big
hits. In his band the two, probably most famous musicians were the trumpeter Whetsol and the
saxophonist Hodges. As the band became more and more popular, saxophonist Hodges became the
highest paid performer in the United States.
The 1920 s became known as quot;the Jazz Age quot; because jazz had hit its first great burst of
popularity. At that time Duke then added a young drummer named
Sonny Greer. A few years after Greer was hired, Duke s band hit a very

Essay on Intrinsic and Extrinsic Motivation
When a person plans or wants to do something, he or she has a motivation for that specific thing. In
other words, when a person does something, that person has a reason why he or she should do that
thing. Not always there is a reason to do something, but sometimes may be many reasons that are
backing a person to take those actions to do it. This happens not only to humans, or living organisms,
but also in nonliving organisms. An example is when a rock which had bounced after it hit the floor
while falling down. Scientists may tell some of the reasons why the rock does that kind of action, but
they cannot tell all of the reasons that back the rock s actions. A similar thing, as the scientists, was
Alfie Kohn trying to do in his essay, Why ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reason is that the reward is not the main thing that is backing up the action; but something else
that could be self develop, peace, etc. An example is a boy does his homework just because he was
told by his parents to do his homework. Based on that the boy believes that his parents know what is
best for him to do.
On the other hand, extrinsic motivation is when a person takes actions knowing that at the end of that
action there is a reward waiting for him or her. In this case, the person does it not because thinking
about self development, peace, etc. but about the reward. An example could be that the boy s mother
will not let the boy watch his favorite cartoons, until he finishes his homework. That way the boy will
finish his homework just to be able to watch the cartoons, but does not care if he fully understands the
materials on which the homework was about.
Third possibility is the both type of motivations, intrinsic and extrinsic, are the reason for someone s
action. It is when the person is doing something knowing there is going to be a reward at the end, also
during that action the person will develop in skills, professionalism, etc. The example could be taken
from the essay that Kohn wrote. The reward that Kohn could have got is being paid for writing the
essay, with the main back up that the action will bring development of experiences in writing
professionally. Another example could be a man runs in a burning building to save his neighbor s kid.
That man

Judge Haselton s Case Summary
In May of 1998, Kipland Kinkel brought a gun to his school. Over the course of two days this
escalated from: being sent home, to murdering his father and mother, to murdering 2 students and
wounding 26, earning a lifetime sentence of 111 years and 8 months in prison. In the court case being
examined, the presiding judge addresses the original case, defendants ground for appeal, and the
justification for the State s decision to deny the appeal. Judge Haselton effectively uses ethos, logos,
and pathos to support the Higher Court s decision to deny the appeal because the original sentence was
constitutional and just. Summary In State of Oregon v. Kipland Kinkel, Judge Haselton summarizes
the decision to deny Kinkel s appeal of his sentencing. Kinkel was sentenced by the Lower Court to
111 years and 8 months for the confession of 4 murders and 25 accounts of attempted murder. Several
medical personal and parents testified against Kinkel at the hearing stating that, he is and remains
dangerous, (para. 15). The defense s grounds for appeal consist of the sentencing being cruel and
unusual and that the protection of society was considered more than reformation. The higher court
denied it was cruel and unusual because it did not shock the conscience. The presiding judge also
denied that reformation was of higher significance than the protection of society because there were
multiple victims affected in a public setting. Audience, Purpose, and Rhetorical Stance There is a

The Theory And Social Control Theory
Evolution of Travis Hirschi
Travis Hirschi is an American criminologist who is famous for developing the self control perspective
on crime and social control perspective on juvenile delinquency. In his groundbreaking work, Causes
of Delinquency, he argued out that an explanation for delinquency can be achieved by absence of
social bonds. He also stated that delinquency could be prevented by social attachments, acceptance of
social norms, recognizing the moral validity of law and involvement in conventional activities. In his
other work with Michael R. Gottfredson, they defined crime as fraudulent or forceful acts that are
undertaken in order to achieve one s self interest. They also argued that the explanation for all crime
can be given as a combination of low self control and criminal opportunity. While developing the
perspective on delinquency and crime, Travis came up with two theories named as the self control
theory and social control theory.
The social control theory is built upon existing concepts of social control. It is positioned midst other
sociological theories that are aimed at the role of familial and social bonds as constrictions on
offending. The assertion of Hirschi s social control theory is that ties to the school, family and other
aspects of society help diminishing an individual s propensity for divergent behavior. It is, therefore,
the proposition of the social control theory that occurrence of crime results when there is a weakness

The Strengths Of District Assessment
Dr. Myers gave me the state aid formula as the total district assessment times 0.025 times 98% plus
miscellaneous funds divided by ADM (Average Daily Membership). The district obtains its money
through federal, local, and state funds. However, he did not share these amounts with me. Through
looking at reports on our schools website, I determined that our local revenue was $1,875,000, state
revenue was $1,395,105, and federal revenue was only $365,783. The general strengths of the district
funding is through local revenue collection. Our local collection is very high. Our district receives
roughly 55% of its funding from local taxes, which is higher than the state average of 35%. We do not

He handles every requisition to ensure that our districts money is being spent purposefully. Also, he
added, that he accepts responsibility for any misuse of funds. The principals in our district do not have
guidelines for budgeting, because they do not have a budget. If a principal has a need, first they have
to justify why and then Dr. Myers will assess if the district has the money. However, the principals are
required by the state to attend tier 1 APSCN (Arkansas Public School Computer Network) training
yearly. The only other need of the principal, according to our superintendent, is the ability to say no
when it comes to spending money. However, he also expects the principals to find other options if the
district cannot afford to make the purchase that is needed. The state requires APSCN as the accounting
system required in our school. He included that we use eSchool and eFinance software under that
program also. Dr. Myers strongly believes that computers have a positive effect on the districts
accounting and budgeting. He stated that computers make it easy to keep and share documents. He
also regularly uses formulas to help figure the budget, which he says saves him a lot of time. The
overall process of estimating revenues and expenditures comes relatively easy for Dr. Myers, he says
due to the fact that our business manager has been with the

When we go to a shop, we see that there are a lot of things that were produced for example in China.
Cheap labour, natural resources and political regime make that the world economy is being more
influenced by Third World countries. It is crucial to write, that rich countries should star helping poor
countries in their economic development. Nevertheless, developing countries ought to be willing to
cooperate with advanced countries. Otherwise, difference between developing countries and
developed countries will be bigger and in result, in these countries there will be even more famine and
poverty which will play a major role in the functioning of a country. Moreover, the Doha Round was

The Importance Of Political Satire
For centuries, political satire and commentary has existed to add humor to serious and controversial
topics surrounding cultures at the time. Whether it was Shakespeare using comedy to explain a
tragedy or Daniel Tosh just saying it how it is to make people laugh, political satire has always been
controversial. Satire in the United States has consisted of pushing political boundaries to create
change, inspiring action through humor and most importantly, developing ongoing conversations
about real problems that the United States and the world are facing and fighting censorship in today s
culture.
Pushing political boundaries has been something political satirist have done for hundreds of years and
will continue to do regardless of the consequences that may be caused. Political office holders at all
levels typically assume that political satire may not be beneficial to political conversations. Some
believe that political satire doesn t do anything but cause false information to spread while others
believe that political satire affects how people view the candidates and in turn creates a bias against
the office holders work. Not only is political satire not devastating to political discourse, it actually
encourages and models promising new ways for people to connect with politics (Young, pg. 28)
Political satirist actually inspire their viewers to dig deeper into stories, participate in democratic
practices further and even create discussion inside their homes.

Essay about Dorothea Dix
Known as an American philanthropist and reformer, Dorothea Dix transformed living conditions in
prisons and established institutions for the mentally insane in 20 states, as well as Canada ( DIX ).
Through her crusade for fair treatment of the mentally insane, Dorothea Dix exemplifies the ideals of
her time to protect the rights of all human beings, no matter their age, race, or mental capacity. On
April 4, 1802 in Hampden, Maine, Dorothea Lynde Dix was born to Joseph and Mary Dix. Due to her
mother s poor health, Dix assumed the household duties of tending to the house and caring for her two
younger brothers from a very young age. Meanwhile, her father traveled as a preacher who sold

At her doctor s request, Dix spent 18 months in Liverpool, England, during which her mother and
grandmother passed away. Soon after, she returned to America, but sadly, Dix was still to drained to
resume teaching (Morin). Four years later, in 1837, Dix agreed to instruct the women at the local jail
on religion. When she arrives at the jail, she finds some of the women, who seem to be mentally
impaired, foul and freezing, so she asks that their quarters be heated, however, the man responds that
the lunatics do not feel the cold and therefore they do not need to waste resources keeping them warm.
Incensed, Dix recruits two respected gentlemen, Samuel Gridley Howe and Charles Sumner, who
confirm, and support her requests that conditions at the jail be bettered; in light of their support, the
jail agrees to improve their conditions. This experience motivated Dix to study the mentally ill, in an
effort to understand the cause and the best way to treat it (Morin). Early on in her studies, Dix decided
that Massachusetts should do more for their mentally ill citizens. However, at the time, Massachusetts
provided better care than many other states, and thanks to Horace Mann, already had two insane
asylums, although they were unequipped to handle the large population of mentally ill patients that
needed care. Over the next eighteen months, Dix traveled from jail to asylum to prison to poorhouse,

History And Effect Of The Gold Rush
Research Paper: The history and effect of The Gold Rush Gold Rush is one of the significant event in
the history. In this project, I will introduce what is the major effects of the Gold Rush in the California.
And how did that change the people, economic, political and environmental effects. The Gold Rush is
a rapid movement of people to a newly discovered Goldfield. Gold rush was arguably one of the most
significant events to build American history during the first half of the 19th century. Thousands of
gold miners traveled by the sea and over the land of San Francisco and the surrounding area. In
January 1848, James Wilson Marshall discovered gold along the American River. By the time, the

Most of these were white men who came from New England. However, Native Americans, free
blacks, and enslaved African Americans also worked the mines. Thousands of experienced miners
came from Sonora in Mexico. Other foreign miners came from Europe, South America, Australia, and
China. Most of the Chinese miners were peasant farmers who fled from a region that had suffered
several crop failures. By the end of 1851, one of every 10 immigrants was the Chinese who used to
backbreaking labor in their homeland, the Chinese proved to be patient miners. They would take over
sites that American miners had abandoned because the easy gold was gone. Tough steady, hard work,
the Chinese made these played out sites yield profits. American miners resented the success of the
Chinese and were suspicious of their different foods, dress, and customs. As the numbers of Chinese
miners grew, American anger toward them also increased. A mixture of greed, anger caused some
miners to cheat others. One the easy to find gold was gone, American miners began to force Native
Americans and foreigners such as Mexicans and Chinese out of the gold fields to reduce competition.
This practice increased after California became a state in 1850. Also the consequences of the gold
miners made government make new legislation. One of the first acts of the California state legislature
was to pass the foreign miners Tax, which imposed a tax of 20 bucks in a month on miners from other
countries. That was

Catcalling And Social Media
Street harassment, also know as catcalling, is an action that I hate the most. Street harassment is
unwanted sayings or gestures that are targeted toward someone in specific based on sexual orientation
or gender, and in this case, women. Catcalling can be verbal such as compliments, like, hey, baby.
Catcalling can be physical, like groping a part of the body, and it can also be sexual remarks. When I
see street harassment on social media, like in a picture or a video, I feel uncomfortable, so I can t even
imagine how some women feel when they have inappropriate comments thrown at them constantly.
I think catcalling is the dumbest thing that anyone could have possibly thought of. Women don t
deserve to get harassed on the street. We want to get from point A to point B without any interruptions,
unless it s with our consent and if it s a friend whom consent was given to. If I have to get stopped on
the street for a gross man to comment on my butt or follow me, it is not going to be a very good day.
Most women I know, do not enjoy the act of being catcalled, however, research from ILR ( Street
Harassment Statistics ) and Hollaback!, a non profit organization, showed that only 3%, out of 4,900
participants in the survey under the age of 40, has found street harassment flattering. Some people do
like it, and I m not going to shame, but I d much rather have people that know me and are my friends
compliment me in a nice way rather than strangers comment on my body because they

Analysis Of The Statue Of Marshal Ney In The Fog
The photo Statue of Marshal Ney in the Fog was taken by the famous artist Brassaï in 1932, one year
before the publishing of his book Paris de Nuit , a collection of night photographies of the French
capital, mostly representing empty gardens and streets in the rain and fog. The picture, featured in the
collection, is a clear example of his early artistic period, which coincides with his first approach to
photography itself.
In the scene we can see the main element, a monument representing the illustrious French military
commander Michel Ney (which gives the title to the entire work), positioned on the extreme left,
dominating the mid and upper third, while in the lower one it is possible to notice a round fence that
encircles the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Undoubtedly, without that luminous minutia, the picture wouldn t have the same appeal. The photo is
generally soft, since it doesn t convey plenty of details (given the evident atmospheric disturbances)
but when focusing on the main physical components present in the scene, in particular, the intricate
decor on the fringe of the fence, it is possible to notice an unexpected sharpness, probably achieved
with more precision in post production. Because of that, the use of colours and lights appears to be
particularly relevant. The exploitation of hidden backlight sources in this night photography gives the
perception of a much stronger and dramatic contrast, enriching the smooth grayscale palette used for
the background. The boldly black silhouette stands out majestically in the dense grey mist, and the
letters of the sign appear with some sort of mystic grandeur, also acting as a key light point. It s
impossible not to focus on them and not to notice their evident difference, their belonging to different
worlds .The depiction of neon is also significant: this kind of light is blueish and extremely cold.
Consequently, it s the complete opposite of the typical warm light provided by lampposts, always used
to portray Paris by night to convey a sense of romanticism.
Moreover, the picture is not exactly frontal, as the angle of the fence suggests: this slight curvature
accentuates, even more, the

Royal Exhibition History
Historical context
The Royal Exhibition Building is the architecture which assembles the history and spirits of the city of
Melbourne. It was built in 1880 by Reed and Barnes, who won the design competition of this building,
for Melbourne s first international exhibition with the purpose of demonstrating the achievements
acquired by industrialization and bringing people with confidence and enthusiasm. The Centennial
International Exhibition was subsequently held in 1888 in the building as Melbourne s second
international exhibition, which introduced Melbourne to the worldwide s view, provided the
opportunity for Melbourne to exchange ideas, goods and cultural values with other countries and
promoted trade and economic growth . It also hosted the opening site of Australia s first Federal
Parliament on 9 May 1901 and opened the first Australian War Memorial Museum in the early 1920s.
The building was restored in 1995 by Allom Lovell Associates and was later granted the World

Wisconsin Department of Justice when the firearm is sent into the lab the analyst looks at the
mechanical operability, including possible damage or alteration, trigger pull and physical features. The
firearm is then fired to see if it matches the bullets and cartridge cases. Another thing that is examined
are the bullets to see if the markings match the ones that were test fired as each firearm produces it s

Improving End Of Life Care In The Icu. A Literature Review
Improving End of Life Care in the ICU A literature review conducted by Crowe (2017) examines the
role of ICU nurses in providing high quality end of life care in the ICU. He states that palliative
nursing in the ICU is de emphasized due to an increased focus on curative treatment. Four major
themes have been identified that contribute to the poor management of critically ill patients needing
palliative support. These themes include decision making challenges, barriers, obtaining support and
formation of guidelines to effectively implement comfort care therapies. Hence, a checklist has been

accordance with the philosophy of the hospital s palliative care program. This said checklist is also
constructed in alignment with the ICU s policies and procedures to provide a framework for the
bedside ICU nurse to ensure proper process, and consistent care is provided to all patients and families
at the end of life (Crowe, 2017). This will be implemented upon completion of a family meeting with
the multidisciplinary team that allows clear communication, decision making to modify goals of care
from curative to comfort, reflection, and clarification of questions. The checklist is divided into three
parts: Decision making, Preparation, and Implementation. Decision making involves the explanation
and confirmation of withdrawal of life sustaining therapies. The preparation phase includes family
awareness, planning, consideration of spiritual practices and organ donation inquiries. Lastly, the
implementation phase provides detailed instruction for the healthcare team once the process is
initiated (Crowe, 2017). The study concludes that it is imperative for nurses to acquire knowledge on
the significance of palliative care, the ethics behind, and how it impacts the lives of their patients and
families. This checklist serves as a guide for best

A Brief Note On Diabetes And Juvenile Diabetes
When it comes to diabetes, there are multiple types of diabetes. Some of the different types are Type1,
Type 2, and Gestational, Diabetes LADA, Diabetes MODY, Double Diabetes, Type 3 Diabetes,
Steroid Included Diabetes, Brittle Diabetes, Secondary Diabetes, Diabetes Insipidus and Juvenile
Diabetes. All of these diabetes do have something in common. They all cause the blood glucose levels
to go higher than normal. This condition can apply to anyone of any age level. Over 382 million
people in the world have diabetes. From 1990 2010 diabetes prevention has improved greatly
including death.
With Type 1 diabetes, insulin is not produced through the body. Out of the 382 million with diabetes,
10% have Type 1. Type 1 is usually found in children and young adults. The body breaks down sugar
and starches that you eat into glucose, which is used for energy. People with this type of diabetes is
treated with insulin injections for the duration of the diabetes. Insulin is a hormone that the body needs
to get glucose from the blood stream into the cells of the body.
If you have been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, your body does not use insulin properly, which is
called insulin resistance. Out of all the cases of diabetes, 90% of it is type 2. The symptoms for type 2
diabetes are controllable by doing plenty of exercises, following a healthy diet, losing weight, and
monitoring our blood glucose levels. Type 2 diabetes is a progressive disease. It gets worse and some

How Does Marjane Satrapi Use Feminism In Persepolis
Persepolis
In this essay, I will be writing about the concept toward feminism that is indicated in the book
Persepolis. The book is written by Marjane Satrapi who sees herself as a humanist not as a feminist,
but there is a lot of strong support from her towards women in general which is expressed in
Persepolis which is also a very personal book of hers that shows how her life was from a very young
age till a certain age. To define a little bit of Feminism or someone who is a feminist, is the belief that
women in general are equal and deserve to be equal in everyday s society just like men. And it s a
belief that Marjane Satrapi appears to support and argue about in her graphic novel in many ways. For

The Effects Of Internet On Children And Young People
Practitioners have a responsibility towards children and young people to make them aware of the
dangers which they may face in the outside world. In school, this awareness has historically been
around issues such as road safety, stranger danger and how to treat and respond to others. As well as
being an additional resource, the emergence of the Internet has opened up a wide range of additional
threats to children. As many children now have access to a computer in their own homes it is
important for all children to become familiar with them and be able to use them with ease. E mail and
the Internet are becoming increasingly common methods of communication and this can open up a

E safety issues include potential dangerous contacts and commercial activities that children can fall
victims to. According to statistics, half of the young people questioned say they have given out
personal information (full names, ages, email address, phone numbers, hobbies or names of their
school) to somebody they met on the Internet. These children can easily be misled by a potential child
groomer who poses as another child of their age from the same area, gaining their trust and getting
close to them. They can become victims without realising as they wrongly believe that they are
chatting to other children because they cannot see who they are chatting to in the online chat rooms
that they use. The intentions of the person masquerading as a child may vary from downloading
personal photos to as far as child trafficking but in any case they pose a great threat to children.
Statistics also show that only five per cent of parents think their children have given out personal

Cartier is also known for giving Canada its name. He heard to guides saying Kanata, meaning village,
so by the 1550s the name Canada began appearing on maps. In 1583, Sir Humphrey Gilbert claimed
Newfoundland as the first North American English Colony under Queen Elizabeth I. In the 1700s,
France and Great British fought for control of North America. In 1759, the British won and renamed
the colony the Province of Quebec. The British passed the Quebec Act of 1774, which allowed
Catholics to hold public office and worship publicly. This was not yet passed in mainland Britain. This
law also brought back French civil law and established British criminal law. The United States tried to
conquer Canada in 1812 through 1814. The US lost the battle and never tried again. During World War

Essay about Love in Henry James Turn of the Screw
To Insanity in Pursuit of Love.
The Turn of the Screw by Henry James is usually read as a ghost story in which the central character,
the governess, tries to save the souls of two children possessed by evil. However, the short story can
be also analyzed from many different perspectives, as we come upon a number of hints that lead to
various understanding of certain scenes. One of the possible interpretations is the psychoanalytical
one, in which we interpret the events either from the point of view of the governess or from the
perspective of the two children. I will concentrate on the problem of the governess who, restricted by
her own problems and moral dilemmas, projects her fears on her pupils and in this way harms the
children. What ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is clearly stated by Douglas when he says about the offer: The moral of which was of course the
seduction exercised by the splendid young man. She succumbed to it (James 13). As the love is not
fulfilled, with no prospects for the future relationship with the master, the young woman starts to be
overpowered by her romantic and sexual needs. The matter gets worse when her imagination starts to
play tricks and then she projects a figure of a man during one of the walks. Later on, as her state of
mind is far from normal and she becomes obsessed with love, the male ghost is paired with his female
lover. Only in this unconscious way can the governess express her needs, which the cruel Victorian
society, with its restrictive code of sexual morality, as Jane Nardin calls it, rejected and made her
quench (qtd. in Parkinson, ch. 6).
Being the daughter of a poor parson, the governess has probably never tasted real love. Her whole
knowledge about the romantic relationships is based on novels like Pamela where a middle class girl
finds an upper class man, Nardin points out (qtd. in Parkinson, ch. 6). On meeting her employer, she
immediately recalls the scheme of one of the novels and imagines the future with the man. Also when
walking alone the governess dreams about meeting the man of her life. When her psychological health
deteriorates she can no longer distinguish the imagined from the real. The ghosts start to haunt her, she
thinks she can hear their voices and

Investigate the rate of reaction between HCl and Na2S 2O3
For this piece of coursework we are investigating the rates of reaction and he effect different changes
have on them. The rate of reaction is the rate of loss of a reactant or the rate of formation of a product
during a chemical reaction. We are studying the affect of changing concentration of Na2S2O3
Solution and dilute HCl.
I believe these variables will affect the rate of reaction:
· Surface area
· Pressure
· Temperature
· Catalyst
· Concentration

the solid was produced was used to measure the speed of the reaction.
Na2S2 O3(aq) + 2HCl(aq) 2NaCl(aq) + H2O(i) + SO2(g) + S(s)
Prediction
I predict that as the temperature is increased the rate of reaction will increase. I also predict that as the
concentration of the sodium thiosulphate increases the rate of reaction will increase. When the
temperature is increased the particles will have more energy and this would enable them to move
faster. This will make them collide more often and with more energy. Particles with more energy are
more likely to overcome the activation energy barrier to reaction; this would make them react
successfully. If solutions of reacting particles are made more concentrated there are more particles in
the area.
Method
Experiment 1 Changing the concentration
5 cm3 of HCl (at concentration 1 mol./dm3) and 15 cm3 of sodium thiosulphate (at varying
concentrations 10 to 35 g/dm3) are poured out into two measuring cylinders and then poured into a

started. When the mixture has turned sufficiently cloudy so that the letter X can no longer be seen the

The Civil War Of 1861
The Civil War took place in 1861 and it lasted up until 1865. It was a war between the United States
or, The Union army rather, and eleven deep rooted southern states known as the Confederacy. The
Civil War occurred mainly as a direct response to slavery. The South preferred to keep slavery and the
North simply wanted to preserve the Union. However, there were many other incidents that occurred
and there were different battles that caused the Civil War to have its end results. Those battles will be
addressed in the following paragraphs. The very first battle took place in 1861. It was known as both
The Battle of Bull Run and the Battle of Manassas. The Union army, led by General Irvin Manassas,
was slightly larger than the Confederate army, led by P.G.T. Beauregard. It took place in northern
Virginia when the Union army marched to Manassas in attempt to attack the Confederates. The attack
appeared to be successful, but the Confederates managed to survive. They later went on to
counterattack the Union and McDowell and his army were forced to retreat back to Washington. This
battle was very detrimental and overwhelming for the Union army, and left them in a state of disbelief.
However, in 1861 the Union were still able to make substantial progress. They were eventually able to
proclaim western Virginia a new renowned state admitted as West Virginia in 1863. Shortly after the
Battle of Bull Run, the war took a turn in favor of the Union. A Union regiment directed by David

Viability In Adulthood
In recent years, the question When does life begin? is extensively disputed between scholars and
society as a collective. However, even after thorough analysis, the multitude of ideologies regarding
the establishment of personhood still provokes global speculation. Life is something that distinguishes
animals and plants from inorganic matter, including the capacity for growth, reproduction and
functional activity. Whereas, personhood is the ethical quality or human condition which denotes a
morally significant or valuable individual being.
When discussing this question, the term viability is often proposed when a question regarding the
personhood arises. Viability is the stage the stage of pregnancy that recognises when the foetus can
survive birth and exist independent of its mother. This used to be referred to as quickening, when the
mother first felt the movements of the unborn foetus. However, this first movement feeling has no
connection to viability today.
As modern medicine evolves, the stage of pregnancy when a foetus is considered viable will decrease
dramatically. Subsequently, leading to the current time window where abortions are legally ... Show

Approaches to Inclusion
1 Introduction In this report the researcher aims to demonstrate a critical understanding of the
principle that early years settings should provide for the needs of all children, including those with
sensory and learning needs, gifted children, and children from remote and nomadic populations,
children from linguistic, ethnic or religious minorities and children from other disadvantaged or
marginalised areas or groups. For the purpose of this report, the researcher will use the term Children
with Special Educational Needs to refer to the above groups. The researcher will provide a critical
awareness on how theoretical models have changed ways of thinking about inclusive practice and the
implications of this on legislation and policy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All educational policies, says the Framework, should stipulate that disabled children attend the
neighbourhood school, that would be attended if the child did not have a disability. (UNESCO, 1994.,
p.24) There is seemingly little doubt that the catalyst for inclusion within the English system lies in
the sentiments outlined in the Salamanca Statement. As Hornby, (2002)., asserts, The statement has
resulted in what, at times, appears to be a tidal wave of inclusion intent preached with overpowering
zeal by the church of inclusion. (p.7) It is observable, though, that despite this missionary zeal the
implementation of inclusionary practices, within the English system, began slowly. Although some
might argue that the last Conservative government, through the Code of Practice (DFE, 1994),
encouraged children with special educational needs to join fully with their peers in the curriculum and
the life of the setting (p.11), others contended that: the code only addressed identification and
standardisation in an attempt to end the vagueness of special educational needs, previously delivered
through a postcode lottery of provision. (Clough, 1998. p.2) 2.3 Theoretical Models It is commonly
accepted that there are two contrasting models or views of disability currently present within modern

Glass Ceiling and the Effects on Women
INTRODUCTION
It s 4:57PM and your superior has just emailed you and a fellow co worker a project that is needed by
8AM tomorrow morning. You glance at the clock and realize you have two minutes before you must
dash out of the office and rush 45 minutes across town to pick your child up from a daycare that closes
in 30 minutes. Clearly, there is not nearly enough time to complete the request. You look at the office
across from you and see your childless, single counterpart who simply smiles and says ...go ahead. I ll
handle the request . All the way home you beat yourself up. Pondering how this will look to your
superior? Will you look like a slacker or not be considered a team player ? Or even worse... what
potential promotion did you just ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Career outcomes require people to be proactive, take initiative and ask for a pay increase and
increased work benefits. Men are more likely to be more aggressive and create their own opportunities
to advance. Social mores and male attitudes make an effective barrier to women rising above certain
points; this tendency brings to mind a glass ceiling (Toussaint 1).
To illustrate how Glass Ceilings are created, consider the following: Circa 1992 Woman, mid thirties,
recent graduate from prestigious Business school with a BS in Accounting, attends a mandatory job
fair and interviews with a university placement counselor. This recent graduate has an impressive
resume, which lists her outstanding academic achievements. It is clear to the interviewer the graduate
s ability to multi task while raising a family, working part time and managing classes. Most of the
attendees at the job fair are male, mid twenties, aggressive and with similar academic achievements.
The advice from the placement counselor was honest and straightforward, so he thought. The
counselor stated to the graduate, Thirty something married women with families will rarely progress
as a manager in a large company. Most women in this category are placed in small to mid size
companies as a Staff Accountant, Full Charge Bookkeeper or possibly mid level management in a
Human Resources Department with limited advancement.
That statement could have been viewed as a self fulfilling

How Might Group Members Particular Ethnicity Or Culture...
How might group members particular ethnicity/culture (as you understand it) influence group
dynamics and communication styles or patterns in the group? Give examples Whenever a person is
apart of a group they are able to have a greater effect on the group rather than if they was not apart of
the group. For example if the Yankees baseball team needed advice on how to itch against the batter it
is likely that the Yankees would take a advice from a pitcher on their team rather than take advice
from the opposing team. This concept can be used with members of cultures. I am more likely to be
heard from a black organization, because I am black and there is a cultural bond. As I understand a
member of a cultural group might influence group dynamics,

Similarities Between Game Of Roses And War Of The Roses
A Marriage between Roses and Thrones
A marriage is usually perceived as two people in love and bind themselves together with an
unbreakable bond. However, in the medieval age, political marriages were more often than a love
between couples. Both the Wars of the Roses and HBO s Game of Thrones, political marriages occur
in order to lead to personal gain and conduct strategic planning for one s kingdom. In HBO s Game of
Thrones, a scene from season 3, episode 5 shows Tywin, Tyrion, and Cersei discussing marriages in a
manner which exemplifies the significance of political marriages compared to the Wars of the Roses,
between Margaret of Anjou and Henry VI, especially through close up shots, lighting, and sound.
When watching the fifth episode of season 3 of Game of Thrones, Tyrion, Tywin, and Cersei discuss
how they can use marriages so the Lannisters can secure the North and it can be done if Tyrion
marries Sansa Stark. This is comparable to Margaret of Anjou and Henry VI. Margaret of Anjou
marries Henry VI and thus as stated in The War of the Roses, Marrying Henry to the French king s
niece seemed to serve two greater purposes: it would bring England a diplomatic and military truce in
the French wars and it would enable Henry and Margaret to rebuild the dwindling stock of the English
royal family. (Jones 84). As seen, the two of them getting married would give them exactly what they
need to get a truce between the two countries and kings. Similarly, if Tyrion were to

Essay about master harold Athol Fugard s Master Harold . . . and the Boys is about Hally, a white young man, and the damage done by apartheid The play takes place on the southeast cost of South Africa, 1950 during the apartheid, in Hally s parents restaurant. This is where two black servants, Sam and Willie, work for the white family. Sam and Willie have been a part of Hally s upbringing and are close friends. The play is a microcosm for the situation happening in South Africa a parallel time. The two of them were up there for a long time; the only bench on the hill read whites only. The bench is the symbol of apartheid, division, hatred, and racism. It is apartheid that Hally hides behind as he uses Sam and Willie as his scapegoat. Hally is filled with so much rage over his father, he is torn between love and hate. When the conflict supernovas, Hally lashes out on his two black friends. He tries to pretend they are not friends by acting strictly like a boss. Carrying on with this little man routine, Hally asks Sam to call him Master Harold. Sam would only do this if they were no longer friends; Hally would be no different from his father. This is the case for, when he spits in Sam s face, Hally becomes Master Harold. Apartheid is victorious in the corruption of another white male as Hally takes his place on the bench of segregation. If you re not careful . . . Master Harold . . . you re going to be sitting up there by yourself for a long time to come, and there won t be a kite in the sky . On a political viewpoint we see that even if a white wanted to go against the norm of the system it was almost impossible due to the environment. Another point is that here we see that the blacks tried to appease the whites anger but enough is enough and then the blacks anger would flair up, would the whites try appease them? Donald Trump Impact Impact on Trump Presidency on US tourism Mr Donald Trump is set to become the 45th president of the USA in January 2017 and his views on travel industry have become an intriguing talking point among travelers from across the globe. His rhetoric during the presidential campaign about his non openness to welcome part of the global population, building a wall across the US Mexican border, making tougher immigration policies, planing to reverse the historical Cuban travel deals, a total ban on Muslims are few of the things he s poised to accomplish. These things impact a child more than we realize. Many parents do not limit their child s screen time, or monitor what they play. According to, Pamf.org, Part of the increase in aggressive behavior is linked to the amount of time children are allowed to play video games and daily media use by children is increasing significantly. . As we known that the most allocated reserve currency or the dominant reserve currencies are US dollars and euro. Then, for example, when one country need dollars, it have to lend money or other assets to the United States government, institutions and private investors at a lower costs. According to the study by Kenneth Rogoff (2013), the United States gain more than $100 billion annually from this kind of transaction . Competition, products, services provided is not the only factors that differentiate businesses. Structure and type are another. This paper will discuss and compare the three major forms of businesses (sole proprietorship, Partnership, and C Corporations) and provide a brief summary of these three forms. Sole Proprietorship. Banks tend to be reluctant in financing sole proprietorships, which leaves these owners seeking assistance from other investors or relying upon personal savings, home equity, or reinvestment of company profits. Finally, the owner of the sole proprietorship is left to either rely upon his or her own skill or solicit information through consultations, because they do not likely have the requisite expertise in every aspect of their business (Kurtz Boone, 2013). Partnership. There are at least two types of partnerships: general and limited. General partnerships are virtually the same as a sole proprietorship, with the exception of additional owner(s). They are essentially sharing the unlimited liabilities of the firm. Most of the benefits and disadvantages are very similar to a sole proprietorship, except that there is also the oral or written agreement that exists between the partners (Keown, Martin, Petty, 2014). Limited partnerships are distinguished, in part, by the limited liabilities. This limitation is provided to at least one or more of the owners, and they are shielded up to the amount of capital they invest into the business (Keown, Martin, Petty, 2014). Without wolfs or other predators the herbivores will multiply and eat all the plants and will move to other areas and then the herbivores there will move and they will all keep on grazing till there is nothing left. Plus wolf kills are good for the soil. Once an animal dies off they won t come back again. Wolfs and other animals are very amazing and they help us alot in many ways. • 8. Essay on Prayer in Public Schools Prayer in Public Schools An issue that has been constantly debated for years is whether voluntary prayer in public schools should be permitted. A student should be allowed to pray voluntarily at the beginning of each school day based on many reasons. Prayer based on moral beliefs reinforce good citizenship as defined by our forefathers. A daily reminder of a need for the belief of good over evil is a necessary part of this society. Daily voluntary school prayer should be re instated in public schools due to three reasons, the historical basis of the beginning of the United States government, the serious moral decline since prayer has been outlawed, and the government infringement on the constitutional guarantee of individual freedom ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another reason for reinstating volunteer prayer in public schools comes from the fact that since prayer has been prohibited in public schools, the morality of the nation has declined. Since the Supreme Court outlawed prayer in public schools in 1960, the nation has seen a steady moral decline. There is a strong correlation between the expulsion of prayer in public schools and moral decline. Between the years of 1960 and 1990, the divorce rate has more than doubled, teenage pregnancy and teenage suicide has increased 250%. Child abuse is now at an all time high and since the end of school prayer, abortions have gone up more than 1000%. Universal principles of a civilized society are mandated by the Bible and re enforce by prayer. In the words of Ben Franklin, ? When we were subject to danger from the war with Great Britain, we met daily in this room to pray for Divine protection. Our prayers, Sir, were heard and graciously answered??Have we now forgotten our powerful Friend? Do we no longer need his assistance?? The coming together to pray daily provide support, re enforcement and fellowship to keep minds focused on good instead of evil. Many psychological studies have found that people who pray daily have spiritual faith in goodness as presented in Christianity suffer less depression and are less likely to commit suicide. • 9. Essay on A Portrait Of Duke Ellington By Tracy Frech A Portrait of Duke Ellington By Tracy Frech Duke Ellington is considered to be one of the greatest figures in the history of American music. Edward Kennedy quot;Duke quot; Ellington was born in Washington D.C. on April 29, 1899. His parents were James Edward and Daisy Kennedy Ellington. They raised Duke as an only child, until his sister, Ruth, was born when Duke was sixteen years old. Duke, even as a teenager, had a great talent for music. In the beginning of his musical life, Duke began to take a promising interest in a new type of music that would later be called jazz. Choosing to base his career on a new idea may not have been smart, but Duke did take this chance and in turn became one of the most famous musicians in America. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although he had many friends he never really told them everything about himself. He would often guard his privacy probably because he had so little of it. When he was alone though, he would almost always be arranging the next tune for the band to play, and was always thinking or preparing something for the band to do in the next performance. Duke attracted some of the greatest musicians to join his band. Because of this it has been said that many of Duke s pieces are almost impossible to exactly duplicate without the personal style of the original musicians. One of the strange things that was known about Duke was that his school music teacher, Mrs. Clinkscales, who played the piano, was always the inspiration for him to just sit down and start tinkering around with a few notes that usually became big hits. In his band the two, probably most famous musicians were the trumpeter Whetsol and the saxophonist Hodges. As the band became more and more popular, saxophonist Hodges became the highest paid performer in the United States. The 1920 s became known as quot;the Jazz Age quot; because jazz had hit its first great burst of popularity. At that time Duke then added a young drummer named Sonny Greer. A few years after Greer was hired, Duke s band hit a very rough ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Essay on Intrinsic and Extrinsic Motivation When a person plans or wants to do something, he or she has a motivation for that specific thing. In other words, when a person does something, that person has a reason why he or she should do that thing. Not always there is a reason to do something, but sometimes may be many reasons that are backing a person to take those actions to do it. This happens not only to humans, or living organisms, but also in nonliving organisms. An example is when a rock which had bounced after it hit the floor while falling down. Scientists may tell some of the reasons why the rock does that kind of action, but they cannot tell all of the reasons that back the rock s actions. A similar thing, as the scientists, was Alfie Kohn trying to do in his essay, Why ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reason is that the reward is not the main thing that is backing up the action; but something else that could be self develop, peace, etc. An example is a boy does his homework just because he was told by his parents to do his homework. Based on that the boy believes that his parents know what is best for him to do. On the other hand, extrinsic motivation is when a person takes actions knowing that at the end of that action there is a reward waiting for him or her. In this case, the person does it not because thinking about self development, peace, etc. but about the reward. An example could be that the boy s mother will not let the boy watch his favorite cartoons, until he finishes his homework. That way the boy will finish his homework just to be able to watch the cartoons, but does not care if he fully understands the materials on which the homework was about. Third possibility is the both type of motivations, intrinsic and extrinsic, are the reason for someone s action. It is when the person is doing something knowing there is going to be a reward at the end, also during that action the person will develop in skills, professionalism, etc. The example could be taken from the essay that Kohn wrote. The reward that Kohn could have got is being paid for writing the essay, with the main back up that the action will bring development of experiences in writing professionally. In the court case being examined, the presiding judge addresses the original case, defendants ground for appeal, and the justification for the State s decision to deny the appeal. Judge Haselton effectively uses ethos, logos, and pathos to support the Higher Court s decision to deny the appeal because the original sentence was constitutional and just. • 14. The Theory And Social Control Theory Evolution of Travis Hirschi Travis Hirschi is an American criminologist who is famous for developing the self control perspective on crime and social control perspective on juvenile delinquency. In his groundbreaking work, Causes of Delinquency, he argued out that an explanation for delinquency can be achieved by absence of social bonds. He also stated that delinquency could be prevented by social attachments, acceptance of social norms, recognizing the moral validity of law and involvement in conventional activities. In his other work with Michael R. Gottfredson, they defined crime as fraudulent or forceful acts that are undertaken in order to achieve one s self interest. They also argued that the explanation for all crime can be given as a combination of low self control and criminal opportunity. While developing the perspective on delinquency and crime, Travis came up with two theories named as the self control theory and social control theory. The social control theory is built upon existing concepts of social control. It is positioned midst other sociological theories that are aimed at the role of familial and social bonds as constrictions on offending. The assertion of Hirschi s social control theory is that ties to the school, family and other aspects of society help diminishing an individual s propensity for divergent behavior. When she arrives at the jail, she finds some of the women, who seem to be mentally impaired, foul and freezing, so she asks that their quarters be heated, however, the man responds that the lunatics do not feel the cold and therefore they do not need to waste resources keeping them warm. Incensed, Dix recruits two respected gentlemen, Samuel Gridley Howe and Charles Sumner, who confirm, and support her requests that conditions at the jail be bettered; in light of their support, the jail agrees to improve their conditions. This experience motivated Dix to study the mentally ill, in an effort to understand the cause and the best way to treat it (Morin). Early on in her studies, Dix decided that Massachusetts should do more for their mentally ill citizens. However, at the time, Massachusetts provided better care than many other states, and thanks to Horace Mann, already had two insane asylums, although they were unequipped to handle the large population of mentally ill patients that needed care. Street harassment is unwanted sayings or gestures that are targeted toward someone in specific based on sexual orientation or gender, and in this case, women. Catcalling can be verbal such as compliments, like, hey, baby. Catcalling can be physical, like groping a part of the body, and it can also be sexual remarks. When I see street harassment on social media, like in a picture or a video, I feel uncomfortable, so I can t even imagine how some women feel when they have inappropriate comments thrown at them constantly. I think catcalling is the dumbest thing that anyone could have possibly thought of. Women don t deserve to get harassed on the street. All of these diabetes do have something in common. They all cause the blood glucose levels to go higher than normal. This condition can apply to anyone of any age level. Over 382 million people in the world have diabetes. From 1990 2010 diabetes prevention has improved greatly including death. With Type 1 diabetes, insulin is not produced through the body. Out of the 382 million with diabetes, 10% have Type 1. Type 1 is usually found in children and young adults. The body breaks down sugar and starches that you eat into glucose, which is used for energy. People with this type of diabetes is treated with insulin injections for the duration of the diabetes. Insulin is a hormone that the body needs to get glucose from the blood stream into the cells of the body. If you have been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, your body does not use insulin properly, which is called insulin resistance. Out of all the cases of diabetes, 90% of it is type 2. As well as being an additional resource, the emergence of the Internet has opened up a wide range of additional threats to children. As many children now have access to a computer in their own homes it is important for all children to become familiar with them and be able to use them with ease. The Turn of the Screw by Henry James is usually read as a ghost story in which the central character, the governess, tries to save the souls of two children possessed by evil. However, the short story can be also analyzed from many different perspectives, as we come upon a number of hints that lead to various understanding of certain scenes. One of the possible interpretations is the psychoanalytical one, in which we interpret the events either from the point of view of the governess or from the perspective of the two children. I will concentrate on the problem of the governess who, restricted by her own problems and moral dilemmas, projects her fears on her pupils and in this way harms the children. What ... She succumbed to it (James 13). As the love is not fulfilled, with no prospects for the future relationship with the master, the young woman starts to be overpowered by her romantic and sexual needs. The matter gets worse when her imagination starts to play tricks and then she projects a figure of a man during one of the walks. Later on, as her state of mind is far from normal and she becomes obsessed with love, the male ghost is paired with his female lover. Only in this unconscious way can the governess express her needs, which the cruel Victorian society, with its restrictive code of sexual morality, as Jane Nardin calls it, rejected and made her quench (qtd. in Parkinson, ch. 6). Being the daughter of a poor parson, the governess has probably never tasted real love. Her whole knowledge about the romantic relationships is based on novels like Pamela where a middle class girl finds an upper class man, Nardin points out (qtd. in Parkinson, ch. 6). On meeting her employer, she immediately recalls the scheme of one of the novels and imagines the future with the man. Also when walking alone the governess dreams about meeting the man of her life. The rate of reaction is the rate of loss of a reactant or the rate of formation of a product during a chemical reaction. We are studying the affect of changing concentration of Na2S2O3 Solution and dilute HCl. I also predict that as the concentration of the sodium thiosulphate increases the rate of reaction will increase. When the temperature is increased the particles will have more energy and this would enable them to move faster. This will make them collide more often and with more energy. Particles with more energy are more likely to overcome the activation energy barrier to reaction; this would make them react successfully. If solutions of reacting particles are made more concentrated there are more particles in the area. Method Experiment 1 Changing the concentration

The very first battle took place in 1861. It was known as both The Battle of Bull Run and the Battle of Manassas. The Union army, led by General Irvin Manassas, was slightly larger than the Confederate army, led by P.G.T. Beauregard. It took place in northern Virginia when the Union army marched to Manassas in attempt to attack the Confederates. The attack appeared to be successful, but the Confederates managed to survive. They later went on to counterattack the Union and McDowell and his army were forced to retreat back to Washington. This battle was very detrimental and overwhelming for the Union army, and left them in a state of disbelief. However, in 1861 the Union were still able to make substantial progress. In HBO s Game of Thrones, a scene from season 3, episode 5 shows Tywin, Tyrion, and Cersei discussing marriages in a manner which exemplifies the significance of political marriages compared to the Wars of the Roses, between Margaret of Anjou and Henry VI, especially through close up shots, lighting, and sound.
