use of social media for academic practice in both traditional and distance learning formats; and

This week was a fun week of clinical experience for me. I got to rest and recharge my energy
toward nursing school after the cardiovascular exam. I was very disappointed on my exam after
all the hard work of studying and was doubt myself for not being able to complete my nursing

The film Blind Light by Sarah Pucill is an experimental 16mm film that was presented as a part of
the Cinematheque s Studio DIM Cinema . This twenty two minute film, made in 2007, consists of
a series of long, slow shots of the sky from the interior of a studio loft. In these shots, the filmmaker
gradually adjusts the exposure and zoom, affecting the brightness levels and perspective. Pucill also
controls the shot by closing and opening the blinds on the windows being looked out of.
Additionally, the audio on the film is largely absent with only a few short comments and outside
noise sporadically throughout. This film creates a lonely and isolated atmosphere with it s use
of durational shots, absence of action and bare setting. Narration is also used to further this
effect. For example, after the long period of silence at the beginning of the film, the artist says in

The timing of the two accounts leads me to believe in the first. Because True Relation was
written almost immediately and General History was written so many years after, it is safe to
assume that Smith may have become faint in memory of the event by the time the second book
was published. Similarly related, John s first book was written as an anecdote while General
History was written to interest potential settlers of the area. In True Relation, John writes of
thanking Pocahontas for her father s kindness when she comes to Jamestown later in 1608.
However, he does not write of thanking her for saving his life. This leads a reader to the
conclusion that she did not, in fact, save him. Another interesting contradiction in Smith s
multiple accounts is when in another book, A Map of Virginia (est. 1612), Smith describes an
execution ritual. He describes a prisoner s head being placed on a sacrificing stone, while one
with clubs beats out their brains. Isn t it rather odd that he didn t mention his own experience here,

It could be said that each of those categories are composed of artists who prefer that certain style of
expression. Vincent Willem van Gogh, generally speaking, falls into the category of being an Post
Impressionist, with a twist.
Loosely speaking, what does Post Impressionism work usually appear to be? In the name of all
things casual, the style of Post Impressionism actually was not to strict in what they depicted for
their style. However, amidst all these individual styles and interpretations, there were commons
threads that all linked them to the category Post Impressionism. For instance, most works of art
belonging to this category, seem to place an emphasis of abstract, symbolic and personal meanings
/emotions envisioned within the pieces (Post Impressionism, 2017). Not only that, but also the
application of structure, order, and the optical effects of color dominated the aesthetic vision in
efforts to describe the world around them (Post Impressionism, 2017). Judging by those
characteristics, van Gogh fit in quite easily with the diverse group of artists that composed the Post
Impressionist style of artwork.
