Consider a glass with a hollow sphere and a reflecting surface. This reflecting hollow surface of sphere of which either sides are polished, forms the spherical mirrors. Spherical Mirrors are of two types: (a) Concave Mirror Copy the link given below and paste it in new browser window to get more information on Reflection of Light by Spherical Mirrors www.askiitians.com/iit-jee-ray-optics/reflection-of-light-by-spherical-mirrors/
Most of the times this study confused me...so, i just put some important points in one place to easily keep them in mind..hope it will help other students as well..and inform me, if a reader find anything new to improve it further.

CLASS 10TH (2020-21)
#PART 1
2. Light
• Light is a form of energy which enables us to see other
object from which it is reflected.
Nature of light
Light shows partical nature as well as wave nature.
3. WAVE THEORY OF LIGHT.
Light consist of electromagnetic wave which do no require a
material medium for their propagation ( to travel from one place
to another)
4. PRACTICAL THEORY OF LIGHT.
• Light is composed of a practical which travel in a straight line at a very
high speed .
SPEEDOF LIGHT=3×108 m/s
OR
3×105 km/s
5. QUANTUM THEORY OF LIGHT.
• Light shows the properties of both wave and partical.
6. WHAT IS LAW OF REFLECTION OF LIGHT.
• 1) The angle of incidence is always equal to angle of reflection.
• 2) Incident ray normal, reflected ray all lie in the same plane at the
point incidence.
10. NORMAL RAY.
•It is a line at right angle to the mirror
surface at the point of incidence .
11. ANGLE OF INCIDENCE
•The angle between normal and
incidence ray is called angle of
incidence.
12. ANGLE OF REFLECTION
•The angle between normal ray and reflected
ray is called angle of reflection.
13. IMAGE
•It is an optical appearance produced
when light rays Coming from object are
reflected from a mirror
14. DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REAL IMAGE AND
VIRTUAL IMAGE
REAL IMAGE. VIRTUAL
IMAGE
1) Real image is
always inverted.
1) Virtual image is
always exert.
2) A real image can
be obtain on
Screen.
2) It cannot be
obtained on
screen.
15. LATERAL INVERSION
•In a mirror is left side of an object
becomes right side of an image and via-
Versa.
16. Write the characteristics of an image formed
by plane mirror .
• Image formed by plane mirror is .
• 1) Virtual and exect.
• 2)Same size as object.
• 3) Laterally inverted.
• 4)Image is formed behind the mirror.
• 5) Distance of an object from mirror =Distance of image from
mirror.
17. USES OF PLANE MIRROR ARE.
• Plane mirror are used in dressing table and bathroom.
• Used in periscope.
• Used at blind turn.
18. SPHERICAL MIRROR
• It is that mirror whose reflecting surface is the part of a hollow sphere of glass.
• It is of two types.
• 1)Concave mirror.
• 2) Convex mirror.
