The students at Access / Ma'en participated in a virtual exchange program to address recycling in their community. They created a recycling campaign and encouraged students and teachers to develop recycling habits by collecting cartoons and decorating them as recycling bins. While they faced challenges finding companies to collect recycled materials, they had the new idea to recycle useful items for children at their center. They are hoping to continue the project to help keep their community healthier.

Through a virtual exchange program, students at Amna Bint Wahab Independent Secondary School in Qatar collaborated with Trinity School in New York to address environmental challenges. Habitat for humanity Brittani Halbert
In the Spring Semester the Interior Design Sophomore Studio , College of Human Ecology , East Carolina University took on the challenge of designing houses that are sustainable and more varied than plans that might have been generated to date. This is in keeping with the University's committment to be a leader in engaged scholarship as well as community service. The students were excited that their work would be put to use. So what we offer here are 18 new plans for Habitat Houses that can be used by anyone who might profit from the student work.
Each house has an imaginary family that the student designers kept in mind in view of the design profession that they will soon join is a service profession: there will be clients for all of the projects that these students will design as practicing interior designers. While these families are fictional , essentially placemarkers in the process of learning to design for others you are welcome to substitute your family, friends or members of the community for the prototype client and use the organizational or program drawings, the plans, elevations and sections and scchedules to extend the student work. We are at the end of our semester so we dedicate our efforts to your use.

COFFEE BEAN: Full-Scale Prototype
The document describes the design and testing of a "Coffee Bean" prototype for a coffee station on the 4th floor of an office. The designers wanted to create a more social space and pull the coffee station away from the wall. They sketched ideas like a bean shape in the center of the room to facilitate interactions. A quick prototype was made and tested, receiving feedback. After iterations, the prototype created more social interactions around the coffee station and was kept in the lounge for six months to continue learning.
Pollution - Al-Hasan ibn Al-Haytham High School for Boys
Alhassan bin alhetheam, a student from Irbid, Jordan, participated in a virtual exchange program with students from Brooklyn, NYC to address pollution in their communities. They decided to create an awareness and action project on pollution in Jordan. Through field work like cleaning their school and collecting rubbish, they raised awareness of the issue and encouraged neighbors to collaborate. Their challenges included gaining community participation and persevering at the start, but they were proud of the work and hope it leads to a cleaner, healthier community and country.

Smoking is a widespread problem in our school, and this is a common age teenagers try their first cigarette in our community. Students chose this topic to convince smokers to stop and warn non smokers against its dangers. They tried to deliver this message through different ways: a mural, a campaign and an awareness day.

We created this project because sustainability is an integral theme at Berkshire School, so we looked to further that into a competition. It worked well with our partner school's project because they were also engaged in a project about sustainability as well. The goal was to reduce water and energy use in the dorms through a school-wide competition.

The student chose the project " Danger of Terrorism because in Jordan as it is situated between many countries which suffer from terrorism as Palestine,Iraq, Lebanon and Syria. We searched the net and the library. We met some Palestinian and Syrians refugees. We gathered pictures and made a short film.Our project goal is to raise awareness against danger of terrorism. Our target audience is everyone.

Finally, the students visited an orphanage, distributed the books they bought to the children, and helped teach them reading and writing.
Unemployment - Maddi Boys High School
Unemployment is one of the problems in our society and in the world in general that affects a large segment of society and leads to significant problems in the community. We hope through the project to reduce this problem and help the unemployed to reduce the problem by training them to acquire the necessary job skills.

Michelle acala
Michell Acala, a third year student at Kiling National High School, noticed that students were improperly disposing of garbage by not separating biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste. To address this issue and help reduce pollution and global warming, she created a project to educate fellow students on proper waste management. Her goal was to teach waste segregation.
She placed labeled sacks around the school for different waste types. An orientation was held to instruct students. As a result, students began properly separating waste into the correct sacks. This helped lessen environmental issues by reducing mixed waste. Both waste and the local environment were positively impacted by the student-led initiative.
Final refl
The final projects for the experiential learning course were IGiving and IHelmets projects. Both projects were successful in achieving their goals. The IGiving project provided gifts directly to poor and disabled people in Dong Phuong Yen Village. The IHelmets project raised awareness about wearing helmets for children's safety on motorbikes. Feedback from villagers, teachers, and parents was positive and encouraging. The student found participating in the projects to be meaningful, exciting, and felt proud of the projects' success in helping the community.
1st Edition 2019-2020 of ChalkPiece Journey
Chalkpiece is a nonprofit organization that uses design thinking to address social problems. It aims to introduce design education into school curriculums. Over the past 3 years, it has reached over 1000 students through awareness programs and addressed over 10 social problems. It offers career guidance, design education workshops, and trains educators in design thinking. Chalkpiece has launched several initiatives like Chalk Van, Chalk Library, and Genie Fellowship to provide design education to underprivileged communities. It seeks donations to continue and expand its outreach efforts.
Student Lead Procurement
Students at a school led the design and planning of a new eco-friendly classroom building project. They researched sustainability and construction methods. The students interviewed different local construction companies to find one to build their classroom, focusing on criteria like cost, sustainability, and supporting the local economy. One company was selected that was passionate about the students' goals and committed to working collaboratively with the students throughout the project.
DESIGN for CHANGE THAILAND with TEFL International
DESIGN for CHANGE is the largest global movement designed to give children an opportunity to express their own ideas for a better world and put them into action.
Children and adults learn through the Design for Change Challenge that “I Can” are the two most powerful words a person can believe. Children who have discovered this are changing their world.
This year, Design for Change reaches 33 countries and over 300,000 schools inspiring hundreds of thousands of children, their teachers and parents, to celebrate the fact change is possible and that they can lead that change!
The challenge asks students to do four very simple things : Feel, Imagine, Do & Share.
Children are dreaming up and leading brilliant ideas all over the world, from challenging age-old superstitions in rural communities, to earning their own money to finance school computers to solving the problem of heavy school bags – children are proving that they have what it takes to be able to ‘design’ a future that is desired.
It is fuelled by passion, belief and a compelling sense of purpose.

Peace Week 2017
Lakeridge Junior High held a Peace Week with daily activities focused on improving the school environment and student behavior. Each day addressed a different issue like bullying, littering, and hallway behavior. Activities included a get-to-know-you bingo game, writing positive hallway messages, questions about responding to bullying, a litter scavenger hunt, and a selfie contest. Hundreds of students participated across the week's events. As a result, students were more mindful of their surroundings and respectful of others seeking to enhance the school experience for all.
Standing Out - Lindblom Math and Science Academy
Through a partnership with a school in Qatar, students learned about environmental issues and sustainability. They had video call discussions and created presentations to raise awareness. Posters were made and displayed around the school to educate others on topics like saving water and energy. Students learned not just about helping the environment, but also about each other's cultures. They realized that despite differences, they faced similar challenges and were able to work together to discuss issues like carbon footprints. A highlight was calculating their own carbon footprint and comparing with students in Qatar.

Overcoming Cultural Barriers - Ramsey High School

No to Racism
The Global Citizenship Project between Greenup County High School in Kentucky and DHA School in Pakistan addressed the problem of racism through creating an informational newsletter. The schools collaborated virtually to develop solutions to challenges in their communities, deciding to focus on raising awareness of racism. Students wrote articles for the newsletter and distributed it via social media to educate their community on the effects of racism. Though some responses were negative, most were positive towards bringing attention to the issue, showing the newsletter was a success in meeting its goal.

PROCESS In our project we make some changes because we faced some challenges , first we find an advisor in the center and she helped us and gave some information about the things that we will recycle . Then we start to encourage students and teacher to develop the habit of recycling , after that we Start our recycling by collecting cartoons , we decorated them and make them as recycle bins , then we arrange bin placement location in the center . - 5. PROCESS Add more photos of the process We tried to find companies to collect the trash and recycle it but we couldn't find in Ma'en so we have a new idea we will recycle useful things for the children in the center , we enjoyed recycling we felt that we are doing something great .
- 6. CHALLENGES One of the challenges we faced is that we couldn’t find companies in Ma’en to collect the trash and recycle it . We decided to do the recycling to help the children in the center by making things which are useful to them .
