ERASMUS+ GLAS PROJECT
FIRST BROCHURE
Education through innovative techniques and creative workshops
Eco Logic, as an organization that works in the field of non formal education, raising
awareness and research, is creating and introducing an alternative way for educating the
youth for reusing, recycling and reducing waste materials. Also, the organization is highly
active in the field of promotion of cycling as a sustainable mode of transport.
For the purposes of GLAS project, the organization prepared and organized several
workshops with students and teachers (professionals). Starting with the theoretical part, the
participants in these creative workshop revealed some facts about sustainable development
and green urban living, as well as practical ways on how to re-use, recycle and reduce waste
material. They discover that not all that is used just once should be thrown away. Also
through presentation of various thematic documentary videos the participants discovered
that cycling is not just a recreational activity but a means of transport.
WHY CREATIVE AND INNOVATIVE WORKSHOPS?
We strongly believe in the concept of learning by doing. The workshops follows after the
interactive theoretical part where the pupils “get their hands dirty” putting in practice what
they learned.
We decided to use this creative workshops because it is the best way to communicate to the
pupils, catching their attention and inspiring their creativity. Creativity is the act of turning
new and imaginative ideas into reality. It involves two processes: thinking, then producing.
Through creative reusing, recycling and reducing waste material the pupils created practical
items that can be used in every day activities.
We also promoted cycling as a sustainable mode of transport through watching cycling
teemed documentaries. This activity will be additionally continued with organization of
practical exercises related to cycling. The pupils learned the health benefits of cycling and
how cycling can help reduce air pollution and city traffic jams. Our activities in this section
help pupils to think about what happens when they exercise and why regular activity is
important.
Our lesson plans have been specially designed to help support pupils’ learning as they get
started and progress through the workshops.
They were given activity books full of interesting information about the environment,
various quizzes and interesting tasks
After the interactive theoretical part followed the workshops
The pupils were divided into groups and given materials, that otherwise would been thrown,
to do something innovative and creative that would have practical use
From a used glass bottle, which would usually be thrown away, and old paper this group
made an interesting flower vase
Reusing the cardboard part of a toilet paper and same old plastic spoons to make a pencil
holder
At the end we “relaxed“ watching themed documentaries about the benefits of cycling.
