2. Project Background
Emrawa Secondary School for Girls in the North of Jordan
participated in a virtual exchange program hosted by
Global Nomads Group. As part of the program, our
school collaborated with the AMS IV School in USA to
develop solutions to the challenges our communities
face.
We decided to address the problem of “unhealthy life
styles”. An unhealthy lifestyle is one of the major
contributor to almost every disease, illness and health
issue that we are facing in our country and the whole
world today . To do this, we created a printed brochure,
a hand-made painting notebook for children and a
hand made flyer. Also, have we suggested a game
about the problem.
3. “Unhealthy life styles”
People influence their own health
through their bad life
habits such as unhealthy diet,
smoking ,poor sleep, sleeping
with smart phones, much
depending on technology, lack of
exercise, overweight…etc. We
believe that better lifestyle habits
will reduce illness and the need
to much medicine and cure. Also,
results in a better quality of life.
Our goal is to highlight the need
for people to re-shape their daily
routine and adopt active
approach to living healthy .
4. Work Steps
We worked as a collaborative team
from the beginning of our project.
We divided the work in order to save
time and effort. Together, we dealt
with the problem from two
perspectives. Locally and
internationally. We suggested
reasons and results in our
community and in the whole world
using the conflict tree. After stating
the problem, we put our action plan
(the goal, the objectives, the
audience and the driving question
towards global citizenship). We
investigated the problem, drew,
painted, and took photos of our work
as a documentation.
5. We also made interviews
asking related questions and
collecting data..
Work Steps
8. Moreover, we linked our project to the
idea of “recycling”, we have
collected old books of the
elementary stage called “Activity
books” and we cut representative
photos . We baste them on white
papers making a good painting note
book for children. They will
remember good and bad routines as
they draw.
Work Steps
9. In addition, we have made a brochure
related to the problem and
distributed it to the nearest local
community.

Steps
10. Moreover, our school
participated last year at a
competition calledThe “ The
App Challenge 2015” through
developing an application on
Edutainment. Four students
design a computer game
application which has an
educational value. The game
was about healthy food and
how the player loose when
eats fast foot. We found it a
good idea to share it here
since some of the campfire
students were there. It is in
the App Store and any body
can play.
Work Steps
11. Challenges
First, we hope that we had the chance to share
the partner school the same problem in order to
see how they would introduce it.
Second, it was difficult to take photos of people
we would like to interview. They didn’t allow
taking photos of their children regarding the
obesity smoking.
Third, not all of us have phones and we faces few
problems regarding using computers.
12. We are very proud
• We are very proud of working in the campfire program . We learnt the
importance of group work .
• We are proud because we felt that as youth we can do good things to our
community and we can help to change situations and face challenges.
• We are proud because we start think of the globe, our larger home, the
home of all humans..
• We are proud because we learnt problem- solving and investigation.
• We are proud of our work(the brochure, the painting note book and the
flyers) which make people in our school start thinking of daily routine.
• We are proud of our humanity.
13. We are proud
Our teachers got a
gift from “Madrasati”
as a result of their
good work
They chose a sport
room equipment
It is a healthy
choice… we are
proud now
14. Future work
We hope that we can continue what we begin.
We will make two posters and put one in our school
and another in the Medical Center of our town.
We will have healthy food in the school as the school principal claimed
that milk and yogurt are in the future plan of the school cafeteria.
We are planning for an open healthy day as students from the JUST
university work as volunteers with in a project called “Madares”,
which we will specify for health issues.
15. We are proud now because we can answer
this…………
“How do we as global citizens increase
awareness of health issues and help people
get rid of bad habits, modify their life
quality, be healthier and live longer and
happier?”
16. #Where the idea came from
People around the world need to re-think of their
unhealthy life styles. Fast food, less or too much
eating, smoking, overweight or maintaining unhealthy
weight, lack of exercise, sleeping with smart phones,
much depending on technology and other bad
habits affect human bodies negatively. So, humans
around the world should be aware of such an important
issue.
17. We found that unhealthy life style
negatively affect students performance.
