First Voyage Around the
World by Magellan
 Magellan travelled the
around the world because
of the spices but the truth is
he was funded by the King
of Spain because of the
gold that can be found in
Butuan, Philippines.
 Magellan was the one who
introduced Christianity in
the Philippines.
 The written document is
based on the perspective of
Antonio Pigafetta.
It proved that the world is
not flat.
It explained that the
cultures and traditions of
countries vary from one
another.

fight in Mactan.
The KKK and the Kartilya
ng Katipunan
 The organization was made
to rebel against the
government in regards with
the captivation of Jose
Rizal. And to overthrow a
colonial regime.
 The illustrados were
treated as very important
persons in Cawit, Cavite.
 The unjust hierarchy
wherein indios were treated
as inferior while the
ilustrados as dominant.
It showed the heroic acts of
the main proponents in
fighting with the Spaniards
and the Americans.
Understanding the Kartilya
will thus help in
understanding the values,
ideals, aspirations and even
the ideology of the
organization.
Proclamation of the
Philippine Independence
 The revolution against
Spain, the war for
independence and the
future of the new republic
under Emilio Aguinaldo.
 The blue, white and red
colors of the Philippine
flag was based on the
American flag.
 Only the persons involved
throughout the historical
event was included in the
document.
The proclamation gives us
all the impression on how
the victorious
revolutionary government
of Aguinaldo historicized
the struggle for
independence.

 Katipunan was only
mentioned once toward the
end of the document.
Political Caricature of the
American Era
The Cartoons:
 Depicts the patronage of
the United States being
coveted by politicians from
either of the party.
 Transition of Catholic-
centered, Spanish Filipino
society to an imperial
American assimilated one
and its complications.
 Sexual revolution; young
people engage in daring
sexual activities in public
spaces like cinemas.
 The post-independence and
post-Filipino-American
period in the Philippines
were experienced
differently by Filipinos
coming from different
classes. The upper class
experienced economic
prosperity while the
majority of the Filipino
remained poor, desperate
and victims of state
repression.
Cartoons became an
effective tool of
publicizing opinions not
just at that time but up until
at the present time.

by the United States.
 Police authorities oppress
petty Filipino criminals
while having a blind eye on
hoarders.
Corazon Aquino’s Speech  Cory Aquino led the
country away from the two
decades of social and
political oppression.
 The speech centers on the
miserable experiences of
the Aquino family, how the
family mourns about their
loss and how the
government treated their
family.
 She did not state the
positive contributions of
the Marcos’ administration
and only focused on the
negativity of his term.
Corazon Aquino is the
most competent politician
in the Philippines because
of her countless
contribution inside and
outside of the country and
to the Filipino citizens.
The speech stated Cory’s
individual ideas and
aspirations and also the
guiding principles and
framework of the
government that she
represented.
The First Catholic Mass in
the Philippines
 Magellan was the one who
made Catholicism possible
in the Philippines.
 Magellan used his
leadership in making the
Kings look jackass.
It shows that despite of the
dark plans of the Spaniards
towards the Philippines,

they were able to create
changes; the locals should
believe in Catholicism and
should not worship objects.
Cavite Mutiny  The real happenings behind
the Cavite mutiny.
 The injustice acts of the
Spaniards.
 The three martyred priests
are not really the ones
behind the revolt.
 Polo y servicios is not the
only reason of Cavite
mutiny.
It informed us student
about how brutal the
society was at the time that
the Spaniards were here in
the Philippines.
The Cry of Rebellion  The exact time and
location of the Cry of
Rebellion
 Inconsistencies in the real
venue of the historical
event.
It widened the knowledge
of us students and the ones
who are able to read the
documents about the
further stories/details
behind the cry of rebellion
and how the himagsikan
started.

Manguera Sr. Road, Tanza, Boac, Marinduque Learning Task No. 2 Name: Claire Alcober Date: Course/Section: BSN-1A Rating: TOPIC MAIN ARGUMENT BIAS IMPORTANCE IN UNDERSTANDING PHILIPPINE HISTORY First Voyage Around the World by Magellan  Magellan travelled the around the world because of the spices but the truth is he was funded by the King of Spain because of the gold that can be found in Butuan, Philippines.  Magellan was the one who introduced Christianity in the Philippines.  The written document is based on the perspective of Antonio Pigafetta. It proved that the world is not flat. It explained that the cultures and traditions of countries vary from one another.

Manguera Sr. Road, Tanza, Boac, Marinduque  Lapu-lapu defeated Magellan in the historical fight in Mactan. The KKK and the Kartilya ng Katipunan  The organization was made to rebel against the government in regards with the captivation of Jose Rizal. And to overthrow a colonial regime.  The illustrados were treated as very important persons in Cawit, Cavite.  The unjust hierarchy wherein indios were treated as inferior while the ilustrados as dominant. It showed the heroic acts of the main proponents in fighting with the Spaniards and the Americans. Understanding the Kartilya will thus help in understanding the values, ideals, aspirations and even the ideology of the organization. Proclamation of the Philippine Independence  The revolution against Spain, the war for independence and the future of the new republic under Emilio Aguinaldo.  The blue, white and red colors of the Philippine flag was based on the American flag.  Only the persons involved throughout the historical event was included in the document. The proclamation gives us all the impression on how the victorious revolutionary government of Aguinaldo historicized the struggle for independence.

Manguera Sr. Road, Tanza, Boac, Marinduque  Even official records and documents still exude the politics and biases of whoever is in power.  Katipunan was only mentioned once toward the end of the document. Political Caricature of the American Era The Cartoons:  Depicts the patronage of the United States being coveted by politicians from either of the party.  Transition of Catholic- centered, Spanish Filipino society to an imperial American assimilated one and its complications.  Sexual revolution; young people engage in daring sexual activities in public spaces like cinemas.  The post-independence and post-Filipino-American period in the Philippines were experienced differently by Filipinos coming from different classes. The upper class experienced economic prosperity while the majority of the Filipino remained poor, desperate and victims of state repression. Cartoons became an effective tool of publicizing opinions not just at that time but up until at the present time.

Manguera Sr. Road, Tanza, Boac, Marinduque  The conditions of the poor Filipinos while governed by the United States.  Police authorities oppress petty Filipino criminals while having a blind eye on hoarders. Corazon Aquino’s Speech  Cory Aquino led the country away from the two decades of social and political oppression.  The speech centers on the miserable experiences of the Aquino family, how the family mourns about their loss and how the government treated their family.  She did not state the positive contributions of the Marcos’ administration and only focused on the negativity of his term. Corazon Aquino is the most competent politician in the Philippines because of her countless contribution inside and outside of the country and to the Filipino citizens. The speech stated Cory’s individual ideas and aspirations and also the guiding principles and framework of the government that she represented. The First Catholic Mass in the Philippines  Magellan was the one who made Catholicism possible in the Philippines.  Magellan used his leadership in making the Kings look jackass. It shows that despite of the dark plans of the Spaniards towards the Philippines,

Manguera Sr. Road, Tanza, Boac, Marinduque  He was able to change the point of view of the locals in worshipping objects such as anito, bul-ol, etc.  He took advantage of the Kings’ low comprehension. they were able to create changes; the locals should believe in Catholicism and should not worship objects. Cavite Mutiny  The real happenings behind the Cavite mutiny.  The injustice acts of the Spaniards.  The three martyred priests are not really the ones behind the revolt.  Polo y servicios is not the only reason of Cavite mutiny. It informed us student about how brutal the society was at the time that the Spaniards were here in the Philippines. The Cry of Rebellion  The exact time and location of the Cry of Rebellion  Inconsistencies in the real venue of the historical event. It widened the knowledge of us students and the ones who are able to read the documents about the further stories/details behind the cry of rebellion and how the himagsikan started.
