Methods for processing rubber include mastication and various operations like mixing, calendering, extrusion, all processes being essential to bring crude rubber into a state suitable for shaping the final product. The former breaks down the polymer chains, and lowers their molecular mass so that viscosity is low enough for further processing. After this has been achieved, various additions can be made to the material ready for cross-linking. Rubber may be masticated on a two-roll mill or in an industrial mixer, which come in different types.

A number of rolling resistance models have been advanced since Robert William Thomson first patented the pneumatic rubber tire in 1845, most of them developed in the twentieth century. Most early models only crudely approximate tire rolling resistance behavior over a limited range of operation, while the latest models overcome those limitations but often at the expense of extreme complexity requiring significant computer resources. No model extant seems well suited to the task of providing a methodology for the estimation of a tire’s rolling resistance “coefficient” that is simple to use yet accurate enough for modern conceptual design evaluation.
It is the intent of this paper to suggest a methodology by which this seeming deficiency may be rectified.

scanning calorimetry (DSC) and Thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) were used to characterize the thermal
performance of Epoxy nanocomposite coating. The test techniques for mechanical properties of paint coating as
adhesion, hardness, impact resistance and bending strength were employed in the work. The results indicated
that CNTs were dispersed in epoxy coating with only ratio of 0.1 wt% enhanced the Glass Transition
Temperature (Tg), decomposition temperature of epoxy coating and improved mechanical properties
significantly. Also functionalized CNTs can be reinforced thermal-mechanical of the epoxy coating better than
neat CNTs.

Acrylic resin was introduced to dentistry in 1936 and received a great response from the dental professionals such that by 1946, 98% of all denture were made with methyl methacrylate polymer or copolymer.
Prior to 1940 vulcanite was the most widely used denture base resin. This is highly cross linked natural rubber which was difficult to pigment and tended to become unhygienic due to the uptake of saliva.

The effects of Amine, Epoxide functionalization of multi-wall carbon nanotubes on properties of CNT/epoxy nanocomposites are investigated in this work. Adding CNTs to the matrix is expected to improve the stiffness, toughness, interlaminar shear strength of and many other properties of composites. Functionalization with different amino and epoxide groups of multi-walled carbon nanotubes was achieved and nanotube-reinforced epoxy nanocomposites were prepared by mixing amino, epoxide-functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes with epoxy resin. The reinforcement mechanism of amino-functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes in epoxy resin was discussed. Interlaminar shear strength (ILSS), Three point bending test and Re-bound hardness tests were used to investigate the mechanical properties of the nanocomposites and functionalization groupings are investigated by Fourier transform spectroscopy (FTIR). Then the results of amine, epoxide group are compared with No-CNT nanocomposite. The results showed that different percentage of amino, epoxide -functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes would have different effects on the mechanical properties of the nanocomposites. Abstract
The requirement of light weight and high strength materials are ever increasing in the industry. Lot of research is going on worldwide for improvement of mechanical properties of light weight non-metallic composites. Researchers are trying to meet the industrial requirements by modifying properties of composite materials by making nanocomposites. Nanocomposites are formed by mixing two or more dissimilar materials and adding nanoparticles in order to control and develop new and improved materials and their properties. The properties of composites depend not only upon the individual components used but also upon the morphology and the interfacial characteristics of the ingredients. This novel feature forms the basis of hypothesis to be investigated.
In the investigation for high strength materials, laminates of epoxy resin and nanoparticles of Al2O3 as filler are used with Aramid fibre, hybrid of carbon and aramid fibre as reinforcement are produced. Nanoparticles of Al2O3 of 20-30nm size are first dispersed in methanol by mechanical stirring. The solution is further sonicated for effective dispersion of nanoparticles. The mixture of methanol and Al2O3 nanoparticles are mixed in preheated Epoxy resin and mechanically stirred. During mixing some of the methanol is evaporated. Further, the remaining methanol is removed by heating and drying. Then, Hardener is mixed with the mixture of epoxy- Al2O3 and laminates are prepared. The laminates are cut to the required size of test samples for mechanical tests. It is observed that the mechanical properties are improved with the addition of nanoparticles of Al2O3.

Hierarchical Digital Twin of a Naval Power SystemKerry Sado
A hierarchical digital twin of a Naval DC power system has been developed and experimentally verified. Similar to other state-of-the-art digital twins, this technology creates a digital replica of the physical system executed in real-time or faster, which can modify hardware controls. However, its advantage stems from distributing computational efforts by utilizing a hierarchical structure composed of lower-level digital twin blocks and a higher-level system digital twin. Each digital twin block is associated with a physical subsystem of the hardware and communicates with a singular system digital twin, which creates a system-level response. By extracting information from each level of the hierarchy, power system controls of the hardware were reconfigured autonomously. This hierarchical digital twin development offers several advantages over other digital twins, particularly in the field of naval power systems. The hierarchical structure allows for greater computational efficiency and scalability while the ability to autonomously reconfigure hardware controls offers increased flexibility and responsiveness. The hierarchical decomposition and models utilized were well aligned with the physical twin, as indicated by the maximum deviations between the developed digital twin hierarchy and the hardware.

2. Introduction
• Natural rubber (NR) is an important elastomer which
exhibits excellent mechanical properties
• Due to its non-polar nature and reactive double bonds
in the structure, the resistance of NR in oil and aging
on exposure to oxygen, ozone and heat is poor.
• In order to achieve properties that cannot be obtained
by individual polymers, polymer blends are often used
to combine the physical characteristics of both
polymers.
• In the case of Immiscible polymer desired properties
can be achieved by using compatabilizers
3. • Compatibilizer reduces the interfacial tension and enhances
the interfacial adhesion between component phases so
that applied force can be effectively transmitted between
component phases
• The performance of elastomer blends is largely governed
by various factors which includes the nature of elastomers ,
blend compositions , phase morphology of elastomer
blends , nature of compatibilizer and interfacial cross-
linking in elastomer blends
• Carboxylated nitrile rubber (XNBR) is an important
elastomer which has found increasing use in many
engineering and industrial applications due to its
outstanding oil and solvent resistant properties
• The presence of a multifunctional epoxy resin in the XNBR-
NR-MAPI blend has the potential to produce XNBR-co-
epoxy-co-MAPI copolymer at the interface, which is able to
function as an effective compatibilizer.
7. • TGDDM (tetra-glycidylether of
diphenyldiaminomethane)was dried at60oC for 2 hours
before using. Mixing was carried out in an internal mixer.
• NR and XNBR were first pre-mixed, prior to the addition of
other ingredients.
• Mixing was done at a temperature of 60oC and at a rotor
speed of 60 rpm.
• The total mixing cycle was ~ 10 min. Finally, the blend was
sheeted out on a laboratory two-roll mill size.
• The sheeted rubber compound was conditioned at room
temperature, 27oC for 24 hours in a closed container and
was further processed by curing.

of MAPI/EPX dual compatibilizers
17. • Toluene, a solvent commonly used in the rubber
industry was chosen in this study.
• The test for solvent resistance of the blend was
conducted according to ASTM D 471.
• The tensile and tear test specimens were immersed in
toluene at room temperature, 27oC for 20, 60, and 160
hours.
• When the specific time was reached, the test
specimens were removed from the toluene, wiped
with tissue paper to remove excess toluene from the
surface and tested for tensile properties and tear
strength.

• The results show that the scorch time and cure time decrease
with increasing composition of XNBR in the blend. T
• he presence of MAPI/EPX dual compatibilizers exhibited
improvement in processability by decreasing and increasing the
cure time and scorch time of the NR/XNBR blends, respectively.
• Whereas increasing compositions of XNBR brought decreases in
tensile strength, tear strength and elongation at break, these
properties were found to increase in the presence of MAPI/EPX
dual compatibilizers.
• The results also show that increasing compositions of XNBR and
the presence of MAPI/EPX dual compatibilizers resulted in
increases in solvent resistance of NR/XNBR blends.
