This past March, Ontario implemented a new law in hopes of deterring drivers from being distracted by their cell phone devices while behind the wheel of a car. Under this new legislation, judges in Ontario now have the ability to charge those distracted driving between $300 and $1,000 and assign three demerit points.
This presentation highlights how Virginia House Bill 516 affects homeowner and condominium association communities, board members, and managers. This includes: licensing requirements and standards for common interest community management companies, the role and activities of the Common Interest Community Board and Common Interest Community Ombudsman, and the status of the development of regulations for the Homeowner Complaint Process.

MPOs are uniquely positioned to embrace Vision Zero and save lives. MPOs provide funding based on long range transportation plans, they serve as a regional nexus for crash data and performance measurement, and they have the ability to stimulate a collaborative process to address issues that no single jurisdiction can tackle alone. This resource highlights the role that MPOs can play in Vision Zero. We feature successful strategies on safety measurement, funding, policy, and planning from MPOs across the country

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Editor's Notes
The Strategic Framework of the RCMP has been adopted and translated for Traffic Services. Intelligence Lead policing has Management Strategies, Strategic Objectives and Strategic Priorities. Under Management Strategies, “Improved use of Technology” - The Activity Log compels members to utilize the technology which allows for better data retrieval, thereby creating intelligence. “ Service and Performance Standards and Measures” are a component of “Traffic Services Management Strategies”. Under our “Strategic Objectives” we list “enforcement balanced to risk to public safety”. Under our “Strategic Priorities” we list the issues related to the greatest risks to public safety. How do we measure contributions to the Strategic Framework? In order to assure balanced performance this needs to be measured. “What gets measured gets done” Pre 1999……. No Mission or vision No Strategy Data quality was poor No problem solving or intelligence gathering No partnerships or bridge building No community policing No accountability In quoting the Speech from the Throne Staying healthy means staying safe. Albertans already enjoy the lowest property and violent crime rates in western Canada, despite having the fastest-growing population in the country. But further steps can and will be taken to ensure that all Albertans feel safe in their homes and communities.
