This document discusses geological hazards. It begins by listing the lesson objectives which are to identify different geological hazards, analyze their causes, and recognize impending hazard signs. It then defines geological hazards and lists examples like volcanic eruptions, landslides, and sinkholes. The document emphasizes that these natural processes only become hazards when affecting humans. It focuses on rainfall-induced hazards like landslides and sinkholes, describing landslide and sinkhole characteristics. Finally, it outlines signs of impending landslides or sinkholes.
Contents:
1. Concept of Earthquake
2. Hazards Associated to Earthquake
- Ground Shaking
- Ground Rapture
- Tsunami
- Earthquake induced landslide
3. What do to BEFORE, DURING, AFTER Earthquake
The Philippines is prone to geological events such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and landslides. These natural events bring about different hazards that may cause damage to infrastructures and endanger human lives.
Effective Oral and Multimodal Presentations Education Presentation in Yellow ...MaggelAnclote2
Volcano, vent in the crust of Earth or another planet or satellite, from which issue eruptions of molten rock, hot rock fragments, and hot gases. A volcanic eruption is an awesome display of Earth’s power. Yet, while eruptions are spectacular to watch, they can cause disastrous loss of life and property, especially in densely populated regions of the world.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)
Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.

This presentation provides a briefing on how to upload submissions and documents in Google Classroom. It was prepared as part of an orientation for new Sainik School in-service teacher trainees. As a training officer, my goal is to ensure that you are comfortable and proficient with this essential tool for managing assignments and fostering student engagement.
2. LESSON OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, learners will be able to:
IDENTIFY THE DIFFERENT GEOLOGICAL HAZARDS
ANALYZE THE CAUSES OF GEOLOGICAL HAZARDS
RECOGNIZE SIGNS OF IMPENDING GEOLOGICAL
HAZARDS
4. GEOLOGICAL
HAZARDS
Volcanic eruptions
heavy rainstorms
rapid snowmelt
rising groundwater
undercutting due to erosion or
excavation
human-induced vibrations in the
earth,
overloading due to construction
certain chemical phenomena in
unconsolidated sediments.
5. GEOLOGICAL
HAZARDS
These geologic
processes only become
hazards when humans
get in their way; if
there were no people
affected, we would find
these natural
phenomena interesting,
but not concerning.
23. Sinkholes
may form from excessive
groundwater extraction
and massive excavations
from urban development,
it changes the natural
water drainage soaking
up areas that are once
dry.
27. SIGNS OF IMPENDING
LANDSLIDES OR
SINKHOLES
1. Springs, water seepage,
or water saturated
grounds in areas that
are not typically wet
2. Soil that loosens and
moves away from
foundations
3. New cracks on unusual
bulges on cemented
ground or walls
28. SIGNS OF IMPENDING
LANDSLIDES OR
SINKHOLES
4. Underground or utility
lines that are broken
due to vibrations or
tremors from the
surface of the ground
5. Buildings, poles, walls,
and fences that are
leaning
6. Sudden flow of creek
waters carrying more
silted water
29. SIGNS OF IMPENDING
LANDSLIDES OR
SINKHOLES
7. Sinkholes, there are
signs of an imminent
danger in groundwater
that does not provide
the same amount and
quality as before or has
become cloudy, acidic,
silted or soiled
30. SIGNS OF IMPENDING
LANDSLIDES OR
SINKHOLES
8. Sign posts or poles that
are suddenly leaning,
slumping, sagging,
slanting or bent.
9. Ponds that have
recently formed or
puddles that grow or
have never disappeared
