Radioactive pollution, or radiological contamination, arises from the unintended presence of radioactive substances in various environments and can be caused by natural sources as well as human activities such as nuclear weapons testing and atomic reactor waste. The effects of radioactive pollution can be immediate, like hair loss and bleeding, or delayed, leading to genetic mutations and cancers. Preventive measures must be implemented to control radioactive pollution, including safe disposal of radioactive waste and ensuring that natural radiation levels remain within permissible limits.
