This document summarizes the key elements and design features of two magazine covers and how they appeal to their target audiences. The first magazine targets an alternative youth tribe interested in rock and punk music. Its cover features a central image of people with an emo/goth style, references to The Beatles and Rolling Stones, and an article about Jack White to appeal to this audience. The second magazine targets male sports fans ages 8-14. Its cover features a large central image of a famous footballer, offers free trading cards and posters, and articles on popular sports headlines to engage young sports enthusiasts.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

Radial analysis 2014
1. Age: 15-25
Gender: I think both genders because the type of music
would appeal both to men and women
Class: D Upper Lower Class, C2 Lower Middle Class and
C1 Upper middle Class
Interests/Youth Tribe: The readers would be part of the
alternative tribes as the readers would be inspired by the
figures on the front cover. The figures on the front cover
have a hint of Emo or Goth about them as they have
darkened hair and quite pale skin. They also have likenesses
to The Beatles which would also appeal to the alternative
youth tribe because their music would appeal to the
alternative Youth Tribe. This is the kind of thing that the
alternative Youth Tribe likes. Also, the alternative youth tribe
is a music loving tribe with interests in rock and punk. So the
references to Jack White and The Rolling Stones would
entice the alternative youth tribe to purchase this product.
2. Age: 8-14
Gender: Male
This is because football has a primarily and stereotypically male
audience. It would appeal to this age group because it offers free
trading cards inside and a reference to FIFA 14. The youth tribe I
believe that would purchase this magazine is the ‘mainstream’ youth
tribe. I think this because this group includes sports junkies, who
follow sports with passion and loyalty, and follow particular ‘teams’
and support them. This magazine offers a great way to catch-up with
the news of their team inside the magazine. It would encourage
them to purchase it because the front cover implies that there is a
lot to read inside, due to the vast amount of images on the front
cover.
3. Masthead
The masthead is unlikely
to have changed
throughout its lifetime,
therefore making it
instantly recognizable. It
also subscribes to the red
theme throughout the
magazine. The
capitalisation of NME
show that the magazine
does not need its full
name because the reader
is already acquainted with
it
Main Articles
The main articles are
purposefully used to give
a short, inside look at the
contents of the magazine.
The contents of this
example would appeal to
the alternative youth tribe
because it has references
to Jack White.
Plug(s)
Tagline
The tagline’s purpose in this context is to amplify the event of
news in music. The red background is used to highlight the
tagline, and to make it stand out on a shelf in a shop. The
names of the artist are in bold, also to make them stand out.
Central Image
The Central Image slightly covers the
Masthead, indicating those
purchasing the product do not need
to see the full word because it is
instantly recognizable. The image
also has a ‘rock’ theme, with a hint
of Goth due to the darker hair and
mournful expressions on their faces.
The hairstyle hones back to a
‘Beatle’ style haircut, an example of
how the alternative youth tribe
would be interested in this magazine
as they are influenced by 60s and
70s music, as well as modern day.
Main Cover line
The Main Coverline is written in
a bold and simple font, therefore
standing out to other magazines
on a shelf. As with throughout
the magazine cover the font is
red, standing out well against
the black coats and the white
background. With it being red,
the alternative Youth Tribe,
including Goths, may associate
the red with Blood.

4. Central Image
Masthead
The Central Image depicts a
popular and talented footballer
Robin Van Persie. It dominates
the cover, showing him posing
in a celebratory fashion. It
would appeal to
Manchester United fans
because it depicts their star
player.
This Masthead also is very readable,
as it is bold and large, therefore
making it stand out on a shelf. The
yellow background also makes it
stand out even more. This would
appeal to young Sports Junkies
because youth is often linked with
bright colours
Plug(s)
The plug here is offering
free products like posters
and trading cards. This
would appeal to the
younger side of sports
junkies in the Mainstream
youth tribe because it
means they can socialize
with their friends by trading
Main Cover Line
Main Article(s)
Once again, the main
articles here are referring
to news that will feature in
the magazine. It is
referring to the latest and
arguably most important
headlines in the football
world, therefore enticing a
purchase from sport
junkies.
Barcode
A code that shopkeepers use to
track distribution of products.
Tagline
The Main Cover Line here gives the
chance for the target audience to get
involved with professional football, by
giving them an opportunity to vote for
their favourite player. This would appeal
to the sports junkies because this is the
profession they ultimately would like to
be involved with. It is pictured next to the
central image, therefore getting noticed
immediately. Also the ‘YOU’ is an example
of direct address and giving the reader a
responsibility.
The Tagline here pictures the opinionated two best
players in the world, therefore by referring to them,
the sports junkies will take notice at a ‘battle’ between
the two of them, so they can give their own opinion
5. Central Image
The central image depicts a
famous guitar among
guitarists. It is the only part of
the image with colour. This
helps it to stand out. Also, you
cannot see the whole
product, showing it is a very
recognizable guitar.
